winner: THE MOST SONG EVER. ok this one is abed. it will always be abed. family line i feel like is more about a hostile home enviroment and jeff implies that his was, while winner is more pain of neglect or disconnect so i feel like its more appliable to abed because of how hes shown to not be understood by his parents and feels responsible for his mother leaving and this makes me think of the line "you dont really wanna hear the truth, do you?" because like his mum loving him on paper but not actually loving who he is or be willing to accept hes different and has different needs FUCK abeds mother all my homies hate abeds mother (what im not projecting at all my parents definitely love me and accept that im autistic /s)

killing me: im not quite sure actually. conan did write this song about someone who gave him tonsilitis and abed cannonically had tonsilitis though so 🤯

yeah, that underage doubtful anon about minors filming spicy scenes... that just seems like another kind of byler doubt to me, except rather than being about byler getting together at all, THIS flavour of byler doubt is byler sex doubt! Hahahahaha

we dont need that at all!! byler sex is speculative and somewhat far-fetched, and even though I believe it has serious potential to show up in the show, its still the wacky cousin of the byler community who showed up with some beers and a boombox. it's so fun at spicy byler tumblr, and if we start bringing classic Byler Doubt TM in, we're just going to ruin stuff! cos sex isnt guaranteed here anyway, so why doubt it? we've only just got through the gauntlet of the underage issue, please let's just have fun now for a bit lol

also im going to add my own tangential poll to this post: for me, one of the biggest 'evidences' of spicy byler times incoming is that noah and finn (noah in particular) react in a certain kind of blushy/secretive way during press/social media that does not merely speak to me of their characters getting a simple romantic ending, or just a kiss. i can completely understand why many people don't take anything outside of the show itself as evidence, and i wish i didnt, but i just can't help it. cos shows are fiction and made to manipulate you as a viewer, whereas real people, even actors, have tells. im not claiming to know finn and noah's personal tells, but for me, as two humans, their body language does not lie!

noah especially gives off the vibes that he will have to portray something extremely giggle-worthy (and thus spicy) next season. that tiktok at penn where he almost gave spoilers? 'there's some crazy stuff, some iconic scenes in there' and his smile was GUILTY AF. yeah, crazy stuff could be a showdown with vecna or a lore reveal. but would that make him BLUSH???? and it could be *just* a masturbation fantasy scene (would love that for the narrative too), but then we also now seeing finn blushing furiously and flickering his eyes around during press like he's in an interrogation room whenever s5 is mentioned. it just screams 'two friends and coworkers who know they have to get it on on-screen' to me.

so has anyone else got finn and noah's behaviour as good evidence for spicy byler incoming?

will: gay! he loves boys and wants to kiss them and marry them and make his own place in the world with one. he has always known this and has never had the privilege of not knowing this. he is Very Gay and the love he feels for one boy in particular makes him feel like he isn't a mistake at all.

mike: gay gay homosexual gay of the homotron 6000 variety. "whether you love what you love or live in divided ceaseless revolt against it, what you love is your fate" sums it up perfectly. he can't escape his heart and the truths it holds, no matter how hard he tries sometimes. following it is instinctive and the best thing he's ever done, yes, but it can also be very hard to adjust your eyes to the light after living in the dark for so long.

el: i don't think she's too keen on labels. she's sure of her attraction to women, feels safer with them and has always thought they were pretty, but she isn't totally sure of her attraction to men. sometimes she thinks she does like them, sometimes she thinks maybe she just expects herself to or wants them to like her (which isn't the same thing). it all just depends on the person. she doesn't want to rule anyone out. show her love and maybe she'll show you some in return, too. i also hc that max was her sapphic awakening hehe. she made her feel so loved, so seen and cherished, that she wondered for the first time if she could love a woman like that. her answer to that of course was, well... why not?

dustin: this post. overly enthusiastic straight ally friend that vows not to get married until everyone can get married. would 100% wingman for you unprompted. tries to set everyone around him up and talks about their love lives with the same ease that he talks about his own. love is love and all that shit, you know.

lucas: "straight" but with a hint of unearthed bisexuality in him. he assumes everyone thinks people of any gender can be handsome and pretty. he's a devoted, kind, and attentive person, so his platonic and romantic crushes aren't too distinct; and as such, he's just never caught on and no one's ever assumed anything either. mike gushes to him about will and lucas is just like "??? and this is a big deal, because...? 🤨 we all have eyes, mike." mike gets so caught up in lucas thinking will is attractive + his resulting slightly possessive outburst that he forgets to focus on the "lucas thinks men are attractive, too" part. i mean, he grew up around mike and will, fell for a tomboy, and erica jokingly calls jason his boyfriend. that boy has bi potential, but is living in blissful ignorance. (max sometimes wants to burst his bubble, but decides he'll get there on his own someday. ...eventually, maybe.)

max: bisexual! she doesn't mention it, but if you somehow assume she's straight then tbh that's on you at this point. (tomboy gnc max from s2 you will always be famous.)

jonathan: jonathan talks a lot about bowie, likes his music, is way too passionate about being a "freak", doesn't care to be normal and isn't, gets called queer, and has always encouraged will to be true to himself. he's either the best straight guy on planet earth + best honorary member of the lgbt community + the best straight gay icon or he's pansexual but quiet about it because it's not exactly like he's a hot commodity so he mostly just doesn't really focus on it. he has bigger fish to fry anyway.

argyle: mr "try before you deny" with his rainbow socks that humbled mike immediately after he broke will's heart is undoubtedly pansexual, too. why do you think him and jonathan bonded so fast? birds of a feather flock together, man.

nancy: sorry, but she's straight.

steve: also straight. i have eyes, okay? joe is not leaning in to the fruitiness of his male scene partners lol.

Wow, thanks for that detailed thing about service top mike! To me it seems like a very emotionally intense kink (and dare I say a rare one irl?), probably because most bodies need some sort of physical stimulation to get off irl, and I would say the majority of folks glean most pleasure from their own pleasure as well as their partner's. I think more so than men, women need that emotional connection plus physicality, but few men I would say can get off based on something other than physical stimulation. So mike feeling satisfied by basically not orgasming is so interesting to me!

With this version of mike, it seems like his complexes from other aspects of life bleed into his sexuality. you said ‘getting off on will's reactions, the fact his body can please someone, body worship, praise kink vibes’ which speak to me of mike’s insecurity and people pleasing tendencies. If it's not too bold to ask, what is it about this that you enjoy when in the show mike's insecurity and people pleasing are painted as things that need to be overcome for him to find fulfillment? Perhaps you like the idea of him retaining these attributes in the bedroom with will only, as a safe way to explore power dynamics, while in regular life he is no longer a people pleaser?

Love that you said sex isnt the same every time, too - I was about to ask whether mike is *always* a service top or just when the mood takes them hehe.

Thanks for clarifying and being so generous! I think sometimes I get overwhelmed by smut in the byler community because while I ADORE speculating on how these characters' sexualities might be portrayed in show, there isn't much of what might be called 'vanilla sex' smut that is actually written in a way that is still exciting and totally absorbing. Sometimes I find intense kinks to be overstimulating and just want a really hot classic smut story, and strangely enough, to me, byler would be pretty down the line with their sex! My headcanon is that will would be the one to dabble in stuff with pain or degradation a little later on, but only in a way that means he still has some trauma to sort through in therapy or something similar. So it's interesting to hear why folk enjoy these kinks for these beloved characters, and learn a bit more about how people's brains work! Thanks so much.

I do think something is misunderstood here though, mike absolutely orgasms with this preference LOL, always and happily. 😌☝️ (obviously sex does not = having to come every time you do it, so sure, there are times he - or will - don't finish and are content with just pleasuring the other) but "focused on their partner's pleasure more than their own" doesn't mean that they don't finish, or don't need to, it means what gets them over the line or more aroused faster is enjoying giving pleasure, and seeing the proof that they are via: a satisfied partner

Like with every headcanon/interpretation everybody has different reasons for viewing something about a character a specific way, I guess for this one it'd be his devotion to will leading people to believe one of his bigger love languages is acts of service, so it's easy to see how that translates to him getting off on will's pleasure.

I'd say there's no power dynamic where he gets off on his insecurities at all 😅🫶 as there isn't really people pleasing happening because it's not coming from a place of thinking his own needs don't matter/not self-sacrificing, I like to believe he becomes more secure than that. he's pleasing will, but he's not trying to prove or work through anything. he's not entering a headspace, it basically just feels arousing and satisfying to give pleasure. I actually like it for mike because the 'job well done' gives him confidence.

Idk I'm actually quite similar to the things you said, I don't think all smut needs a dom/sub dynamic or undertones, and I love the necessity of 'vanilla' smut as a balance. especially for byler I feel some people don't understand neither of them need to be dom/sub at all, it's fun for sure but sex in life isn't two categories

These two fics have caught my attention, Walkie Talkie Fic and ElMike Break Up, plz give details. For the ask game

AHHH (thank you for asking my dear moot hehe 💜)

okay well so the walkie talkie one is based on this random night I couldn’t sleep and started just typing out dialogue between mike and Will just talking to each other at night on the walkie talkie.

It’s like a post vecna and apocalypse story of Mike and Will navigating their relationship and learning how to communicate again (addressing all that happened). I just really wanted like a late night calls by byler version and walkie talkies are their thing so :,) thought it would be cute. There’s something so intimate about talking to (or texting) someone on the phone at night idk

This one actually has a snippet so- (I cut out some of the descriptions because the dialogue is my favourite ngl)

“Will?” Mike’s voice peered into the walkie-talkie. It was a bit choppy, so Will raised the antenna further up, pushing the radio against his cheek. Mike sounded a bit tired.

“Sorry– did I wake you?” Will wanted to hit his own head at this point. “I’m sorry.”

“No– no you didn’t. Don’t worry. Over.” Mike paused. There were sounds of shuffling for a second before Will continued.

“Okay…that’s good to hear.” He didn’t really believe Mike.

“Y'know you should really end your sentences with ‘Over.’ Over.”

“Oh my god– Are you still on that?” Will laughed, repositioning himself on his bed.

“Yes I’m ‘still on that!’” Mike yelled. “It’s an important rule that you have to follow. How else am I going to know when you’re done talking? Over.”

“Because that’s when I stop talking…?” Will knitted his eyebrows, fully aware Mike couldn’t see.

“Yeah but you could be doing a dramatic pause or something– I don’t know! I can’t read minds Will.” He paused. “Over.”

“Okay, okay you win. I concede…Over.”

“Thank you…Over.”

“Are you happy now?”

“Very.”

“You didn’t say over.”

“Okay well fuck you–”

Okay and the Elmike one is very much still in concept but I have the outline done!

It’s basically the exploration of their breakup. I really wanted to like do a deep dive into their relationship and- idk i feel like there would be this sense of fear with it? Like to break up is to love each other less (because of how romantic love is seen as greater than platonic) so idk I wanted to show their fear but also I like— how being friends makes it so they can love each other better? (Also mike comes out to her MMSJSKSNSJ)
