Author’s note
There are some things you need to know before you read this one-shot.
Jacob Maxwell is Kevin’s boyfriend. He’s a Northsider. He’s gay. He started dating Kevin at the end of sophomore year. He was a writer for the Blue and Gold, and he was in charge of lighting and sound design for the musicals Kevin directed. I was not a fan of the Hedwig storyline, so I’m going to say Riverdale High School put on a production of Little Shop of Horrors instead.
Lucy Collins is Reggie’s girlfriend. She’s a Northsider. She was a River Vixen. She wasn’t involved in the musicals Kevin directed. Reggie dated Josie in sophomore year. Josie broke up with him and left Riverdale to go on tour with her father, Myles, at the beginning of junior year. Sierra stayed in Riverdale with Tom and Kevin. Reggie started dating Lucy shortly after Josie left Riverdale.
Nana Rose died in junior year. Penelope was sentenced to life in prison following the Gargoyle King reveal, and ownership of Blossom Maple Farms, Thistle House, the Belmont Lodge, and the Maple Club went to Cheryl. She sold Belmont Lodge and the Maple Club to the rest of the Blossom family. Toni moved into Thistle House. Cheryl went into business with Veronica, and the Blossom family’s maple syrup became part of the non-alcoholic rum Veronica sold at La Bonne Nuit. I forgot to mention this in The Transfers.
Because Alice, Polly, Cheryl, Kevin, Toni, Fangs, and Principal Weatherbee never joined the Farm, Cheryl and Toni never found themselves having to look after Polly’s twins. I forgot to mention this in The Transfers.
Because the Pretty Poisons never existed, the yearbook didn’t have a page dedicated to them, but it did have a page dedicated to the Serpents and the musicals. I forgot to mention this in The Transfers.
Charles never dated Chic. He never visited Chic in prison. He left Riverdale after the Farm shut down. I forgot to mention this in The Transfers.
Fred gave Archie the jalopy after they fixed it up in junior year. Archie got Fred’s truck shortly after Fred died. Fred’s brother, Frank, left Riverdale shortly after Fred’s funeral. Mary and her girlfriend, Brooke, stayed in Riverdale. I forgot to mention this in The Transfers.
Because the Stonewall Prep storyline never happened and Gladys and Jellybean moved back to Toledo, Jellybean didn’t make disturbing videos of the citizens of Riverdale. I forgot to mention this in The Transfers.
Shortly after Pop Tate died, Veronica signed over ownership of Pop's Chock'lit Shoppe to his granddaughter, Tabitha and sold La Bonne Nuit to the Southside Serpents, thus ending her partnership with Cheryl. La Bonne Nuit became the new Whyte Wyrm. I forgot to mention that in The Transfers. Tabitha doesn’t plan to franchise Pop’s. The Whyte Wyrm is a bar. It did not become a dance club like it did in season 5.
In season 5, Jughead and Sweet Pea have some new tattoos. One of Jughead’s tattoos is of Cosmo from Cosmo the Merry Martian. Cosmo the Merry Martian was a comic book published by Archie Comics in the late 1950’s. The comic was created by Bob White as a way to provide a family-appropriate comic for children with an interest in the then-current space race. The title character was the first Martian to visit Earth. In this one-shot, Cosmo the Merry Martian was an animated television show Jughead and Jellybean watched when they were children.
Betty didn’t kiss Archie. She doesn’t have sex with Archie. Betty and Jughead don’t break up, and neither do Archie and Veronica. Jughead doesn’t date Jessica, doesn’t sleep with Cora, and doesn’t kiss Tabitha. Veronica doesn’t marry Chad. Betty doesn’t date Glen. She doesn’t become an FBI agent, but she does go to Yale University and get a cat named Toffee. In sophomore year, a few months before Betty and Cheryl considered becoming Serpents, Betty had applied for the chemistry program at Yale University. She had been accepted into the program in junior year. I forgot to mention that in The Transfers.
Veronica goes to Barnard College, but she majors in history instead of economics.
Reggie doesn’t become Hiram’s right hand man. He attends Columbia University.
In junior year, Archie was interested in attending the naval academy. After Fred died, he changed his mind about attending the naval academy and decided to take over Andrews Construction. He didn’t join the army. He closed down El Royale Boxing Club. I forgot to mention this in The Transfers.
Jughead, Toni, and Fangs don’t go to college. After high school, they decided to become full-time Serpents, and so did Sweet Pea and Hannah. I forgot to mention that in The Transfers. Jughead doesn’t become an English teacher. Toni doesn’t become a guidance counselor. Sweet Pea and Fangs don’t become truckers. Like in the show, Cheryl decided not to go to college and worked to restore the Blossom name. She doesn’t become a painter. She and Toni don’t coach the River Vixens. When she isn’t running Blossom Maple Farms, she is being a Serpent. Toni does not get pregnant. Reggie doesn’t become a football coach, and neither does Archie.
Jughead outlawed the Serpent dance at the beginning of senior year. I forgot to mention that in The Transfers. If a girl wants to be a Serpent, she has to do the same thing a boy has to do if he wants to be a Serpent, with the exception of being punched by every member of the Serpents.
Shortly after Jughead published Anatomy of a Murder, he hired an agent. His agent, Sam Pansky, lives in New York. He communicates with him through e-mails and text messages. I forgot to mention this in The Transfers. He didn’t leave Riverdale. He didn’t become an alcoholic or a drug addict.
Archie got his Serpent tattoo removed shortly after he got out of Juvie. I forgot to mention that in The Transfers.
Hermione doesn’t leave Riverdale. She doesn’t appear in The Real Housewives of New York. She stays in Riverdale and continues being the mayor.
FP doesn’t leave Riverdale. He stays in Riverdale and continues being the sheriff.
In the author’s note at the beginning of The Transfers, I mentioned that Alice, Polly, Cheryl, Kevin, Toni, Fangs, and Principal Weatherbee never joined the Farm. If Polly wasn’t in the Farm, I couldn’t see her naming the twins Juniper and Dagwood, so I gave them different names. Their names are Sophia and Liam.
Jughead writes a book called The Outcasts, but it’s different from the book that was mentioned in the show.
Riverdale High School

7:00 p.m.
In 1941, the first senior class of Riverdale High buried a time capsule the day after they graduated. Tonight, Betty, Reggie, Veronica, Kevin, Cheryl, Toni, Emma, Jake, Lucy, Hannah, Sweet Pea, Fangs, Jughead, and Archie would be burying their own time capsule.
After they buried the time capsule, Betty, Reggie, Veronica, Kevin, Cheryl, Toni, Emma, Jake, Lucy, Hannah, Sweet Pea, Fangs, Jughead, and Archie would be going to the Whyte Wyrm. After their graduation ceremony, Cheryl had brought up the idea of having a graduation party at the Whyte Wyrm. Betty, Reggie, Veronica, Kevin, Toni, Emma, Jake, Lucy, Hannah, Sweet Pea, Fangs, Jughead, and Archie thought it was a good idea.
Betty, Reggie, Veronica, Kevin, Cheryl, Toni, Emma, Jake, Lucy, Hannah, Sweet Pea, Fangs, Jughead, and Archie were standing on the football field.
“Did everyone bring an item?” Betty asked.
Reggie, Veronica, Kevin, Cheryl, Toni, Emma, Jake, Lucy, Hannah, Sweet Pea, Fangs, Jughead, and Archie nodded.
“I’m putting in last week’s copy of The Riverdale Register and last week’s copy of The Blue and Gold. They were my last editions as editor-in-chief. I’m also putting in a bobby pin in case anyone needs it.” Betty put a copy of The Riverdale Register, a copy of The Blue and Gold, and a bobby pin in the time capsule.
Betty was wearing pale pink high-heeled sandals and a pale pink dress with spaghetti straps, a v-neck, and a circle skirt that reached her mid-thigh. The neckline showed a hint of cleavage. Her long blonde hair was parted in the middle and styled in barrel curls. She had on a light amount of black eyeliner, a light amount of black mascara, soft pink eyeshadow, and nude lip gloss.
“I'm putting in a football signed by all of the Bulldogs. Long may they roar.” Reggie put a football in the time capsule.
Reggie was wearing a white t-shirt, dark blue denim jeans, and black high-top Adidas sneakers with white laces. His short, straight black hair was slicked back and parted to the left. He was clean-shaven.
“I'm putting in a Pop's menu and a La Bonne Nuit matchbook.” Veronica put a Pop's menu and a La Bonne Nuit matchbook in the time capsule.
Veronica was wearing a white tank top that stopped a few inches above her belly button and showed off the lower part of her flat stomach, a navy blue circle skirt that reached her mid-thigh, and navy blue high-heeled sandals. Her shoulder-length wavy black hair was tucked behind her ears. Her brown eyes were framed by long dark lashes, her lips were plum and shiny, and her cheeks were rosy.
“I’m putting in programs for the musicals I directed.” Kevin put programs for Carrie, Heathers, and Little Shop of Horrors in the time capsule.
Kevin was wearing black loafers and a short-sleeved white button down shirt tucked into dark blue denim jeans. A black leather belt with a silver buckle was around his waist. His short, straight brown hair was slicked back and parted to the left. He was clean-shaven.
Cheryl sighed before putting her long-sleeved yellow and white HBIC shirt in the time capsule. “Oh, HBIC shirt, I found no one deserving of you. Therefore, toodles.”
Cheryl was wearing a red tank top that stopped a few inches above her belly button and showed off the lower part of her flat stomach, a black circle skirt that reached her mid-thigh, and black high-heeled sandals. Her long red hair was parted in the middle and styled in barrel curls. She had on a light amount of black eyeliner, a light amount of black mascara, and soft pink eyeshadow. Her lips were cherry red.
“I’m putting in my pom-poms. Being a River Vixen was a lot of fun.” Toni put her pom-poms in the time capsule.
Toni was wearing a black tank top that stopped a few inches above her belly button and showed off the lower part of her flat stomach, dark blue denim jeans, and black ankle-length leather boots. Betty, Reggie, Veronica, Kevin, Cheryl, Emma, Jake, Lucy, Hannah, Sweet Pea, Fangs, Jughead, and Archie could see her silver belly button piercing. Her long brown hair with pink highlights was parted in the middle and styled in loose curls. She had on a light amount of black eyeliner, a light amount of black mascara, and soft brown eyeshadow. Her lip balm was a light shade of berry pink.
“I’m putting in my ticket for A Star is Born. That was the first movie Fangs and I saw as a couple.” Emma put her ticket for A Star is Born in the time capsule.
Emma was wearing a lavender t-shirt that stopped a few inches above her belly button and showed off the lower part of her flat stomach, dark blue denim shorts that reached her mid-thigh, and lavender low-top Converse sneakers with white laces. Her long brown hair was parted in the middle and styled in barrel curls. She had on a light amount of black eyeliner, a light amount of black mascara, and soft pink eyeshadow. Her lip balm was a pretty coral pink colour.
“I’m putting in a picture of me and Kevin.” Jake put a picture of himself and Kevin in the time capsule. The words “Me and Kevin at Pop’s in 2017” were written on the back of the picture in black ink.
Jake was tall with fair skin and brown eyes. His short, straight brown hair was styled in an Ivy League cut. His locks were a little longer on the top, allowing him to spike up his bangs. He was clean-shaven. His body was slender but muscular. He was wearing a white t-shirt, dark blue denim jeans, and black high-top Vans sneakers with white laces. He didn’t have any scars, tattoos, or birthmarks.
“I’m putting in a picture of me and Reggie.” Lucy put a picture of herself and Reggie in the time capsule. The words “Me and Reggie at Pop’s in 2018” were written on the back of the picture in black ink.
Lucy was tall and slender with fair skin and blue eyes. Her long blonde hair was parted in the middle and styled in barrel curls. “I’m putting in a picture of me and Toni.” Hannah put a picture of herself and Toni in the time capsule. The words “Me and Toni at Pop’s in 2018” were written on the back of the picture in black ink.
Hannah was wearing a black t-shirt that stopped a few inches above her belly button and showed off the lower part of her flat stomach, dark blue denim shorts that reached her mid-thigh, and black combat boots with black laces. Her long brown hair was parted in the middle and styled in loose curls. She had on a light amount of black eyeliner, a light amount of black mascara, and soft brown eyeshadow. Her lip balm was a pretty peach colour.
“I’m putting in a picture of me and Fangs.” Sweet Pea put a picture of himself and Fangs in the time capsule. The words “Me and Fangs playing pool at the Whyte Wyrm in 2017” were written on the back of the picture in black ink.
Sweet Pea was wearing a black tank top, dark blue denim jeans, and black combat boots with black laces. His Serpent tattoo was on full display. His straight black hair hung just above his ears. His bangs were parted to the left and stopped just above his eyebrow. He was clean-shaven. He was holding a shovel.
“I’m putting in a picture of me and Emma.” Fangs put a picture of himself and Emma in the time capsule. The words “Me and Emma at Pop’s in 2018” were written on the back of the picture in black ink.
Fangs was wearing a white tank top, dark blue denim jeans, and black ankle-length leather boots. His Serpent tattoo was on full display. His short, straight black hair was styled in an Ivy League cut. His locks were a little longer on the top, allowing him to spike up his bangs. His hair was faded on the sides. He was clean-shaven. He was holding a shovel.
“Well, it's getting pretty full in there, but...” Jughead trailed off.
Jughead took off his beanie and put it in the time capsule.
Jughead was wearing a grey t-shirt with a black S on the front, dark blue denim jeans, and black combat boots with black laces. Black suspenders hung from the sides of his jeans. His straight black hair hung just above his ears and was tousled. He was clean-shaven.
“Finally.” Cheryl said.
“I’m putting in a guitar pick and a hammer from my dad's toolbox.” Archie put a guitar pick and a hammer from Fred’s toolbox in the time capsule.
Archie was wearing a white t-shirt, dark blue denim jeans, and black high-top Converse sneakers with white laces. His short, straight red hair was styled in an Ivy League cut. His locks were a little longer on the top, allowing him to spike up his bangs. He was clean-shaven.
Betty closed the time capsule. Archie and Jughead lowered it into the hole Sweet Pea and Fangs had dug. Sweet Pea and Fangs filled the hole up with dirt.
Betty and Jughead walked towards Betty’s car. Betty got in the driver’s seat. Jughead got in the passenger’s seat. Betty started the engine and drove to the Whyte Wyrm.

Cheryl and Toni walked towards Cheryl’s cherry red 1961 Chevrolet Impala convertible. Cheryl got in the driver’s seat. Toni got in the passenger’s seat. Cheryl started the engine and drove to the Whyte Wyrm.
Sweet Pea and Hannah walked towards Sweet Pea’s truck. Sweet Pea put the shovel he was holding in the backseat. Sweet Pea got in the driver’s seat. Hannah got in the passenger’s seat. Sweet Pea started the engine and drove to the Whyte Wyrm.
Emma and Fangs walked towards Emma’s car. Emma owned a green 2013 Honda Accord. Fangs put the shovel he was holding in the backseat. Emma got in the driver’s seat. Fangs got in the passenger’s seat. Emma started the engine and drove to the Whyte Wyrm.
The new Whyte Wyrm looked amazing. The floors were made of black square ceramic tiles. The ceiling was made of white square vinyl tiles. The walls were made of wooden panels. Green, blue, red, and purple neon lights were on each wall. A green neon sign reading The Whyte Wyrm was hanging on the wall towards the right. Pool tables were tucked to one side. Booths with square wooden tables that had double-headed snakes carved into them and black leather seats were scattered around. The bar took up the majority of the wall towards the left. A man stood behind the bar.
Betty ordered a Shirley Temple. Jughead ordered a beer. Reggie ordered a club soda with a lime wedge. Lucy ordered a strawberry daiquiri. Archie ordered a club soda with a lime wedge. “Betty, Jughead, Cheryl, Reggie, Kevin, Emma, Jake, Lucy, Hannah, Sweet Pea, Toni, Fangs, I’d like to make a toast to you. You’re the best friends anyone could ask for. I don’t think if I would have survived high school if I didn’t have you and Veronica by my side. I hope our friendship lasts forever. Cheers.” Archie raised his glass.
“Cheers.” Betty raised her glass.
“Cheers.” Jughead raised his glass.
“Cheers.” Cheryl raised her glass.
“Cheers.” Reggie raised his glass.
“Cheers.” Kevin raised his glass.
“Cheers.” Emma raised her glass.
“Cheers.” Jake raised his glass.
“Cheers.” Lucy raised her glass.
“Cheers.” Hannah raised her glass.
“Cheers.” Sweet Pea raised his glass.
“Cheers.” Toni raised her glass.
“Cheers.” Fangs raised his glass.
“Jughead, I should have asked this question sooner, but where did the nicknames Jughead, Jellybean, Sweet Pea, and Fangs come from?” Veronica asked.
“When I was a kid, I had a long nose and big ears, making my head look like a water jug, but I grew into them once I started going through puberty. The nickname Jughead came from some guys in my grade 4 class. Jellybean’s real name is Forsythia. It’s a mirror of my real name. I disliked the name in any form and started calling her Jellybean when she was 5. The nickname came from the type of truck that crashed and caused the traffic jam in which she was born. Nathan is a big softie when he wants to be. When I transferred to Southside High, Toni told me she started calling him Sweet Pea when they were 13 and the nickname stuck. When Francis joined the Serpents, he wanted a nickname that would make him seem more intimidating. Fangs was the first nickname he thought of.” Jughead said.

10:00 a.m.
Smithers had retired and would be going back to New York.
Hermione and Veronica dropped Smithers off at the bus station.
Smithers pulled Hermione into a hug. “Take care, Hermione.”
“You too, Smithers. Thank you for everything you’ve done for me and Veronica,” Hermione said.
Hermione was wearing navy blue high-heeled pumps and a navy blue dress with a v-neck, short sleeves that fell slightly off her shoulders, and a slim-fitting skirt that reached her knees and had a straight, narrow cut. The neckline showed a hint of cleavage. Her long straight black hair was in layers. Her bangs were parted to the right and stopped just above her eyebrow. Her brown eyes were framed by long dark lashes, and her cheeks were rosy. She had on nude lip gloss.
Smithers pulled Veronica into a hug. “Take care, Veronica.”
“You too,” Veronica said.
Veronica was wearing black high-heeled sandals and a short-sleeved white button down shirt with silver studs on the collar tucked into a black circle skirt that reached her mid-thigh. Her shoulder-length wavy black hair was tucked behind her ears. Her brown eyes were framed by long dark lashes, her lips were plum and shiny, and her cheeks were rosy.
Smithers got on the bus. Hermione and Veronica waved at him as the bus drove away.
Hermione and Veronica walked towards the taxi they had taken to the bus station. They got in the taxi. The taxi driver headed to the Pembrooke.
Mary, Brooke, and Archie’s house
Friday, July 19, 2019
6:00 p.m.
Archie had invited Veronica, Betty, and Jughead over for dinner. Mary and Brooke were having dinner at Pop’s.
Veronica knocked on the door. The door didn’t open.
Veronica, Betty, and Jughead started walking around the yard.
“Archie?” Jughead called out.
Jughead was wearing a black tank top, dark blue denim jeans, and black combat boots with black laces. His Serpent tattoo was on full display. His straight black hair hung just above his ears and was tousled. He was clean-shaven.
Veronica, Betty, and Jughead heard Archie say, “I’m in the garage.”
Veronica, Betty, and Jughead walked into the garage.
Archie rolled himself out from under the jalopy and wiped the sweat off of his forehead with a rag.
Archie spoke. “I was thinking we could drive the jalopy to Sweetwater River and watch the sunset, but all of my attempts to get it started have failed. I don’t think I’ll ever get it started.”
Archie was wearing a white t-shirt, dark blue denim jeans, and black ankle-length boots. His short, straight red hair was styled in an Ivy League cut. His locks were a little longer on the top, allowing him to spike up his bangs. He was clean-shaven. His shirt and jeans were smeared with oil.
Betty spoke. “It could become part of the decor in Pop’s. It would fit with the vintage theme. Call Tabitha and see if she’s okay with having it towed to Pop’s, and if she is, call a tow truck.”
Betty was wearing a black t-shirt, dark blue denim shorts that reached her mid-thigh, and black low-top Converse sneakers with white laces. Her long straight blonde hair was piled on top of her head in a neat donut-shaped bun. She had on a light amount of black eyeliner, a light amount of black mascara, soft pink eyeshadow, and nude lip gloss.
Veronica spoke. “But first, you need to shower, change your clothes, and eat.”
Veronica was wearing navy blue ankle-length boots with high heels and a short-sleeved white button down shirt tucked into navy blue cotton shorts that reached her mid-thigh. Her shoulder-length wavy black hair was tucked behind her ears. Her brown eyes were framed by long dark lashes, her lips were plum and shiny, and her cheeks were rosy.
Archie, Veronica, Betty, and Jughead walked into the house.
Alice, Polly, and Betty’s house
Monday, August 5, 2019
10:00 a.m.
Alice’s car, Polly’s car, Betty’s car, Jughead’s motorcycle, and FP’s motorcycle were parked in front of the house.
Alice was standing next to her car.
Polly was standing next to her car. Her right hand was grasping the stroller Sophia and Liam were sleeping in.
Betty was standing next to her car. Two suitcases were in the backseat.
Jughead was standing next to his motorcycle.
FP was standing next to his motorcycle.
Alice pulled Betty into a hug. “I’m proud of you, Betty.”
Alice was wearing purple high-heeled sandals and a short-sleeved ruffled purple dress with a v-neck and an a-line skirt that reached her knees. The neckline showed a hint of cleavage. Her straight blonde hair was in layers and reached her chest. Her bangs were parted to the right and stopped just above her eyebrow. Her blue eyes were framed by long dark lashes, and her cheeks were rosy. She had on nude lip gloss. She still had her Serpent tattoo. Even though she left the Serpents in high school, she hadn’t gotten her Serpent tattoo removed, because removing a tattoo was painful.
Alice’s Serpent tattoo couldn’t be seen underneath her clothes.
“Thank you, Mom,” Betty said.
Betty was wearing a white t-shirt, dark blue denim shorts that reached her mid-thigh, and black low-top Converse sneakers with white laces. Her long straight blonde hair was parted in the middle. She had on a light amount of black eyeliner, a light amount of black mascara, soft pink eyeshadow, and nude lip gloss.
Polly pulled Betty into a hug. “I’m proud of you too.”
Polly was wearing pale pink high-heeled sandals and a pale pink dress with a v-neck, two spaghetti straps criss-crossing over the open back, and a circle skirt that reached her mid-thigh. The neckline showed a hint of cleavage. Her shoulder-length blonde hair was parted in the middle and styled in loose curls. Her green eyes were framed by long dark lashes, and her cheeks were rosy. She had on nude lip gloss.
“Thank you, Polly,” Betty said.
Betty was born in 2001. Cheryl and Jason were born in 2000. Polly was born in 1999. Jason had been in Polly’s grade. Cheryl had been in Betty’s grade. The reason for this is that Jason was super smart and skipped a grade.
Polly got pregnant in 2016. She gave birth and dropped out of high school in 2017. This September, she was going to start taking online classes in order to get her G.E.D.
Jughead pulled Betty into a hug. “Text us when you’re in your dorm, okay?”
Jughead was wearing a black t-shirt, dark blue denim jeans, and black combat boots with black laces. Black suspenders hung from the sides of his jeans. His straight black hair hung just above his ears and was tousled. He was clean-shaven.
“Okay.” Betty said.
FP pulled Betty into a hug. “Drive safe.”
FP was wearing a grey t-shirt, dark blue denim jeans, and black ankle-length leather boots. His short, straight brown hair was slicked back. He had a hint of stubble. He still had his Serpent tattoo. Even though he retired from the Serpents when Jughead was in high school, he hadn’t gotten his Serpent tattoo removed. He didn’t get his Serpent tattoo removed for the same reason Alice didn’t get her Serpent tattoo removed. He had a tattoo of a jellybean on the left side of his chest. He’d gotten it shortly after Gladys and Jellybean left Riverdale for the first time. He had no plans to get it removed.
FP’s tattoos couldn’t be seen underneath his clothes.
“I will.” Betty said.
Betty got in her car and pulled out of the driveway.
Jughead got on his motorcycle and pulled out of the driveway.
FP got on his motorcycle and pulled out of the driveway.

Her long straight black hair was in layers. Her bangs were parted to the right and stopped just above her eyebrow. Her brown eyes were framed by long dark lashes, and her cheeks were rosy. Mary was wearing a green t-shirt, dark blue denim jeans, and green flats. Her shoulder-length red hair was styled in loose curls. Her bangs were parted to the right and stopped just above her eyebrow. Her brown eyes were framed by long dark lashes, and her cheeks were rosy. She had on nude lip gloss.
“Thank you, Mary,” Veronica said.
“Good luck at Barnard,” Brooke said.
Brooke was tall and slender with fair skin and brown eyes. Her straight brown hair hung just above her ears. Her bangs were parted to the right and stopped just above her eyebrow. She was wearing a white t-shirt, dark blue denim jeans, and beige ankle-length boots. She had on a light amount of black eyeliner, a light amount of black mascara, soft brown eyeshadow, and nude lip gloss.

Liam had fair skin and green eyes. His short, straight red hair was styled in an Ivy League cut. His locks were a little longer on the top, allowing him to spike up his bangs. He was clean-shaven. His body was slender but muscular. He was wearing a black t-shirt, dark blue denim jeans, and black ankle-length leather boots. He didn’t have any scars, tattoos, or birthmarks.
Spencer pulled Liam into a hug. "I'm proud of you too."
"Thank you," Liam said.
"Drive safe. Text me and Spencer when you get to Boston, okay?" Polly asked Liam.
"Okay." Liam said.
Liam got in his car and drove away.

The Public Enemy Solidified Gang Rule Under James Cagney for 90 Years
https://ift.tt/3vfQifQ
William Wellman’s The Public Enemy (1931) turns 90 this weekend. When the film first came out, a theater in Times Square showed it nonstop, 24 hours a day, seven days a week. The movie marks the true beginning of gangster movies as a genre. Mervyn LeRoy’s Little Caesar may have hit theaters first, but The Public Enemy set the pattern, and James Cagney nailed the patter. Not just the street talk either; he also understood its machine gun delivery. His Tommy Powers is just a hoodlum, never a boss. He is a button man at best, even if he insisted his suits have six buttons.
The Public Enemy character wasn’t even as high up the ladder as Paul Sorvino’s caporegime Paul Cicero in Martin Scorsese’s Goodfellas. But Cagney secured the turf Edward G. Robinson’s Rico Bandello took a bullet to claim in Little Caesar, and for the rest of his career Cagney never let it go.
Some would argue genre films began in 1931. Besides mob movies, the year introduced the newspaper picture with Lewis Milestone’s The Front Page and John Cromwell’s Scandal Sheet; Universal Pictures began an unholy run of horror classics via Tod Browning’s Dracula and James Whale’s Frankenstein, with the two turning Bela Lugosi and Boris Karloff into household names; and Howard Hawks’ Scarface would land the knockout for the gangster genre, even if it didn’t get released until 1932.
Sadly, the classic “Gangster Film” run only lasted one production season, from 1930 to 1931, and less than 30 films were made during it. Archie Mayo’s The Doorway to Hell started the ball rolling in 1930, when it became a surprise box office hit. It stars Lew Ayres as the top mug, with Cagney as his sidekick. For fans of pre-Code Hollywood, it is highly recommended. It includes a kidnapping scene which results in the death of a kid on the street. Without a speck of blood or any onscreen evidence, it is cinematically shocking in its impact.
Both Little Caesar and The Public Enemy earned their street cred, defying the then-toothless 1930 Motion Picture Production Code, which preceded the Hays Code. After New York censors cut six scenes from The Public Enemy to clear it for release, the Motion Picture Producers and Distributors of America (MPPDA) set further guidelines for the proper cinematic depiction of crime.
Public Enemy director Wellman was an expert in multiple genres. He spit out biting satires like Nothing Sacred (1937) and Roxie Hart (1942), and captured gritty, dark realities in The Ox-Bow Incident (1943) and Story of G.I. Joe (1945). He won his only Oscar for A Star Is Born (1937). The Public Enemy is the first example of what would be his trademark: stylish cinematography and clever camera-work. The dark suspense he captures is completely different from the look of German expressionism. It captured the overcast shadows of urban reality and would influence the look of later noir films. His main character would inspire generations of actors.
“That’s just like you, Tom Powers. You’re the meanest boy in town.”
Orson Welles lauded James Cagney as “maybe the greatest actor who ever appeared in front of a camera.” Will Rogers said watching Cagney perform was “like a bunch of firecrackers going off all at once.” The New York City born performer explodes in this movie. Even in black and white, Cagney’s red hair flares through the air like sulfur on a match. It turns out to be a slow burn, which will reach its ultimate climax in 1949’s White Heat. The Public Enemy is loaded with top talent, but you can’t take your eyes off Cagney. Not even for a second. You might miss some tiny detail, like the flash of a grin, a wink, or a barely perceptible glare.
Cagney had a simple rule to acting: All you had to do was to look the other person straight in the eyes and say your lines. “But mean them.” In The Public Enemy, the characters communicate without lines. When Tom and Matt Doyle (Edward Woods) sneak a peek into Larry the Limp’s casket, we understand this is the first time the two young thugs lost someone their own age. The scene barely implies how fortunate they are not to be in that box, but their curiosity is as palpable as the loss of their last shred of innocence.
Cagney was originally cast as Matt, and scenes were shot with him in the role. The parts were switched mid-production, but they didn’t reshoot the flashback scenes, making it look like the pair swapped bodies between 1909 and 1915. It’s a shame because Frankie Darro, who plays the young Matt, made a career out of playing baby face Cagney, and later joined the East Side Kids franchise.
Former “Our Gang” actor Frank Coghlan Jr. took on the role of young Tom. He takes the lashes from his cop father’s belt, backtalking him the whole time. Tom Powers is reprehensible. He never says thank you and doesn’t shake hands. He delights in the violence and sadism. Powers doesn’t go into crime because of poverty; he just can’t be contained. Cagney’s mobster mangles, manhandles, maims and murders, and still needs more room in his inseam.
Dames, Molls, and Grapefruits
Besides defying the ban on romanticizing criminals, both The Public Enemy and Little Caesar broke sexual codes. There are explicit signs that Rico Bandello represses his sexuality in Caesar. Scenes between him and his friend Joe, and his gunman Otera, thinly veil homoerotic overtones. Public Enemy’s Powers, by contrast, subtly encourages the gay tailor who is openly hitting on him.
There are strong indications Putty Nose (Murray Kinnell) is grooming Tommy and Matt for more than just fenced goods. Look at the way Putty sticks his ass in Powers’ face while he is shooting pool. Putty Nose’s execution at the piano is creepily informed by the unspoken sins between the men. Tommy relishes the kill.
However, Tommy doesn’t relish being manhandled when he’s too drunk to notice. While the gang goes to the mattresses in the movie’s gang war, Tommy is raped by Jane (Mia Marvin), his boss Paddy’s girl. Powers protests the best he can, but the camera angles leave no doubt. Tommy wakes up hungover, horrified, and feeling impotent. Matt, however, has no trouble getting “busy” with his girlfriend Mamie, played by Joan Blondell, in one of the scenes trimmed by the censors.  Blondell, Jean Harlow, and Mae Clarke, who plays Tommy’s girlfriend Kitty, represent a glitzy cross-section of white Roaring Twenties glamour. In the opening credits, when Harlow and Blondell smile at the camera, male audience members of the time blushed.
Harlow was Hollywood’s original “Blonde Bombshell,” starring in the movie that coined the term. Her earthy comic performances would make her a major star at MGM, but she was a dud to critics of The Public Enemy. Hers was the only part which was criticized, and the reviewers were brutal, declaring her voice untrained and her presence boring.
Harlow’s greatest asset had to be contained within the Pre-Code era. Straddled with a wordy part as a slumming society dame, she is directed to slow her lines to counter the quick patter of the rest of the cast. Yet Harlow uses that to her benefit in the film’s best moment of sexual innuendo. While telling Tommy about “the men I’ve known,” she pauses, and appears to be calculating them in her head before she says, “And I’ve known dozens of them.” When an evening alone with Tommy is cut short, Gwen’s exasperation over the coitus interruptus is palpable. Members of the Catholic Legion of Decency probably had to go to confession after viewing the film for slicing.
Most people know The Public Enemy for the famous grapefruit scene where Powers pushes a grapefruit into his girlfriend’s face. “I wish you was a wishing well,” he warns, “so that I could tie a bucket to you and sink ya.” Tommy treats women like property. They are status symbols, the same as clothes or cars. Kitty’s passive-aggressive hints at commitment get on Tom’s nerves. He can only express himself through violence. There are rumors Cagney, who would go on to rough up Virginia Mayo in White Heat and brutalize Doris Day in Love Me or Leave Me, didn’t warn Clarke he was going to use her face as a juicer. According to the autobiography Cagney by Cagney, Clarke’s ex-husband Lew Brice loved the scene so much he watched it a few times a day, timing his entrance into the theater to catch it and leave.
Both actors have said it was staged as a practical joke to see how the film crew would react. It wasn’t meant to make the final cut. Wellman told TCM he added it because he always wanted to do that to his wife. The writer reportedly wrote the scene as a kind of wish-fulfilling fantasy.
The screenplay was written by Harvey F. Thew. It was based on Beer and Blood by John Bright and Kubec Glasmon. The unpublished novel fleshed out press accounts of the bootlegging Northside gang leaders, Charles Dion “Deanie” O’Banion, Earl “Hymie” Weiss, and Louis “Two-Gun” Alterie. Cagney based his Tommy Powers character on O’Banion and Altiere. Edward Woods was doing his take on Weiss. The book reflected the headlines in the Chicago papers, which reported Weiss smashed an omelet into his girlfriend’s face.

The Public Enemy borrowed from the day’s headlines in other ways too. Hymie Weiss was assassinated in October 1926. It was the first reported “machine-gun nest” murder. It is recreated in the killing of Matt Doyle. While shooting the sequence, Cagney ducked real machine gun fire to bring authenticity to the scene. Also taken from real life is the fact that after O’Banion was killed in ‘24, Alterie’s first reaction was to do public battle with the killers. This is similar to Tommy’s final shootout at Schemer Burns’ nightclub headquarters.
Leslie Fenton’s dashing mob captain Nails Nathan (“born Samuel”) flashes the greatest grin in mob movie history. He is based on Samuel “Nails” Morton, a member of O’Banion’s mob. Both “Nails” were driven to their coffins the way it is depicted in The Public Enemy. The real Morton died in a riding accident in 1923, and “Two-Gun” Alterie and some of the other gang members went back to the stables, rented the horse which kicked Nails in the head, and shot the animal. Mario Puzo may have been inspired by this scene when he wrote The Godfather. It is not only tie to the Francis Ford Coppola movie. Oranges have as much vitamin C as grapefruits. Another similarity between the two films is the threat of being kidnapped from the hospital by a rival gang.
The Powers brothers’ relationship vaguely echoes the one between war hero Michael and Sonny Corleone, who believes, as his father does, soldiers were “saps” to risk their lives for strangers. Donald Cook, who played Mike Powers, didn’t pull any punches on the set. In the scene where he knocks Tom into the table before going off to war, he really connects. Wellman told Cook to do it without warning so he could get that look of surprise. Cook broke one of Cagney’s teeth, but Cagney stayed in character and finished the scene.
“It is a wicked business.”
After the stock market crash, get-rich-quick schemes seemed the only way through the Great Depression. The gangster was an acceptable headline hero during Prohibition because the law was unpopular with the press. But after 1929, the gangster became the scapegoat villain. The Public Enemy was the ninth highest grossing film of 1931. But the genre lost its appeal after April of that year, as studios pumped out pale imitations and audiences got tired of the saturation, according to the book Violence and American Cinema, edited by J. David Slocum. Religious and civic groups accused Hollywood of romanticizing crime and glamorizing gangsters.
The Public Enemy opens with a dire warning: Don’t be a gangster. Hoodlums and terrorists of the underworld should not be glamorized. The only MPAA rule the film didn’t break was portraying an alliance between organized crime and politics. The studios passed the films off as cautionary tales which were meant to deflate the gangster’s appeal by ridiculing their false heroism.
Through this hand-wringing, however, Cagney turns false heroics on its head with the comic brilliance of a Mack Sennett short. Stuck without a gun, he robs a gun store armed with nothing but moxie. Powers never rises in the organization. He takes orders and whatever the boss says is a good cut, only asking for more money once from Putty Nose. Unlike Rico, who rose to be boss among bosses, Powers has no power to lose. This is just the first gig he landed since he was a regular “ding ding” driving a streetcar, and it connected with audiences like a sock on the button. They identified with the scrappy killer, and it surprised them.
Even Gwen notices Tommy is “very different, and it isn’t only a difference in manner and outward appearances. It’s a difference in basic character.” Strict Freudians might lay this on his mother (Beryl Mercer), the greatest enabler Cagney will see until White Heat. Ma Powers’ little boy is a budding psychopath knocking off half the North Side, but look at the head on his beer. For audiences at the time, Tom was the smiling, fresh-scrubbed face of evil. He is consistently unsympathetic but likable from the moment he hits the opening credits.
Like Malcom McDowell’s Alex in A Clockwork Orange, he is the fiend’s best friend. Even if it is Tommy’s fault his best pal Matt gets killed. While Cagney spent his career ducking his “you dirty, double-crossing, rat” line from Taxi, the actor wasn’t afraid to play one in Powers. He’s not a rat in the sense he’d snitch on anyone. He’s the last of the pack who sticks it out for his pals when his back is up against the wall.
A Hail of Bullets
Tommy Powers goes by this credo: live fast, die young, and leave a corpse so riddled with bullets, not even his mother can look at his body when he’s done. But then, no one can end a film like Cagney. He’s danced down the White House stairs in Yankee Doodle Dandy (1942), been rolled across the concrete steps of a city church in The Roaring Twenties (1939), and was blown to kingdom come in White Heat. He gets two death scenes in The Public Enemy, a rain-soaked climax, and a denouement as scary as The Mummy. Tommy only brings one gun to the gang fight, and by the time he hits the pavement, he’s got more holes in him than the city sewage system.
“I ain’t so tough,” Tommy says on his final roll into the gutter. Cagney’s first professional job was in a musical drag act on the Vaudeville circuit, and he called himself a “song and dance man” long after retirement. For The Public Enemy, conductor David Mendoza led the Vitaphone Orchestra through such period hits as “Toot Toot Tootsie (Goodbye),” “Smiles,” and “I Surrender Dear.” But the song “I’m Forever Blowing Bubbles” is the one which lingers in the memory. Martin Scorsese has cited it as a reason his films are so filled with recognizable music.
Street violence comes with a natural soundtrack. Transistor radios accompany takedowns. Boom boxes blast during shakedowns. Car stereos boost the bass during drive-by shootings. In The Gang That Couldn’t Shoot Straight, mobsters feed quarters into a jukebox to cover up sounds of a beating.
In The Godfather, Part II, a street band plays traditional Italian songs while Vito Corleone puts bullets in the neighborhood Black Hand, Don Fanucci. The last thing we hear in the abrupt close to the mob series The Sopranos is a Journey song. The first thing Tommy’s mother does when she hears her boy is coming home from the hospital is drop a needle on a record.
The ending leaves us with two questions: Who killed Tommy, and what’s his brother going to do about it? We figure whoever did the job on Powers was probably a low-level button man from Schemer’s rival outfit. Probably even lower down the ladder than Tommy, and on his way up, until another Tommy comes along. Crime only pays in the movies, Edward G. Robinson often joked.
Mike’s reaction to the bandaged corpse is ambiguous. He’s already shown outward signs of the trauma following the horrors of war. Is he clenching his fists in anguish or anger? Is he broken by the battlefield or marching off in vengeance, a soldier on one last duty? Cook’s exit can go either way.
After 90 years, The Public Enemy is still fresh. It’s aged better than Little Caesar or Scarface. Cagney wouldn’t play a gangster again until 1938, but the image is etched so deeply in the persona, audiences forget the vagaries of villainy Hollywood could spin, and the range of characters Cagney could play. He and the film continue to influence filmmakers, inform culture, and surprise audiences. Tommy Powers was just a mug, but those streets are still his.

Tumblr media Tumblr media
Y/N POV
You and Reggie were currently at a restaurant called Nathans right outside of Riverdale. You both would much prefer Pop’s but since it was the afternoon that wasn’t really an option considering you both didn’t want to be seen.
“How’s the food?”
“It’s good Reg, thank you”
“Remember how long it took for you to let me take you out for the first time”
“Yeah haha I do, I gave you so much shit”
*Flashback*
“Y/N Please”
“Reggie leave me the fuck alone”
“Just let me take you out, one date that is all I ask, please”
“Fine Mantle but make it count” You had known Reggie for a little while, ever since the Serpents moved to the northside he always tried talking to you. You became friends with him, but that was all nothing more. You stayed away from him, for the most part, afraid that Fangs would catch on and try to hurt him. He was very protective of you along with most of the Serpents. But after Reggie tried so hard over and over again you figured you would at least give him the chance. So he picked you up from your trailer after Fangs went out to a job.
“Hey Y/N”
“Hey Reggie, thanks for the ride”
“I mean I invited you on the date figured I might as well drive you” You arrived in a field after driving for a little while.
“Are you gonna try and kill me Mantle”
“Y/N you would probably kill me first I’ve seen you fight”
“True, but if you aren't killing me why are we here?”
“Our date, come on” He motioned for you to take his hand and you did. You walked into the field to see fairy lights and a hammock. It was beautiful, something you never thought could come from Reggie.
“Reg this is… wow”
“Do you like it?”
“I love it, it's incredible. I can’t believe you thought of something like this”
“Well, you always said you loved seeing the stars. I figured a perfect first date would be us just chatting and being able to look up at them. I also brought Pops. Sorry, it’s not extravagant…” You couldn’t fathom how he remembered the few times you mentioned the stars.
“Reg, stop it’s perfect I don’t need extravagant honestly if you had done something like that I probably wouldn't have liked it as much as I like this”. You sat with him eating Pops before eventually getting up and laying in his arms in the hammock. He started swaying it with his foot.
“Reggie don’t fucking move this thing”
“What’s wrong scared Y/N”
“I don’t like swinging, just let it be still”
“Fine, Fine but are you sure”
“Mantle I will leave this date so quick”
“Okay, okay. Hey Y/N”
“What?”
“Thank you”
“For what?”
“Agreeing to go on this date with me. I know I can seem like a jackass and all but that isn’t who I am”
“I know your not Reg I’ve learned that from talking to you, why do you think I said yes”
*Flashback Over*
“You definitely did give me shit baby but it was so worth it”
“Oh yea”
“Definitely”
“You always make the cutest dates Reg, the first one included”
“We haven't had a date like that in a while”
“What do you mean?”
“Like just relaxing while being together we usually go out to eat and stuff which I love don’t get me wrong, but there was something about laying with you watching the stars that just I don’t know”
“No, I get it” You look down contemplating what Reggie had said. It was true you did miss just being with him, and you missed those small cute little dates he always put together but it wasn’t his fault.
“I’m sorry baby”
“For what Reg?”
“Not putting something together in a while, I feel like a dick”
“Babe don’t apologize, I could put a date together as much as you could we’ve just been so busy you with football and me with the Serpents we just haven’t had time to do that stuff and that’s okay”
“I know I just feel bad what do you say tonight we sit in my truck with a blanket and just look at the stars for a bit, like old times”
“I’d like that a lot”
“Well it’s getting late we could drive now if you want”
“Yeah let’s go” As you were driving towards your spot, you got a text from your brother Fangs saying that he had work tonight so we wouldn’t be home till around one am.
“Hey, Reg?”
“Yeah, baby?”
“You wanna go to mine instead?”
“What about your brother”
“He has work”
“Oh?”
“If you don’t want to I get it it’s fine I just-” You got cut off by Reggie. You always had a slight fear of Reggie breaking up with you based off where you came from. But now dating him for 3 months you knew he would never. He wasn’t the big jock that everyone thought. Reggie was sweet and kind and he always made you feel like you belonged regardless of the jacket you wore or the place that you went home to at night.
“Baby calm down I’d love to”
“Really” He grabbed your hand in his placing a kiss to the top before resting it on your thigh. The drive to the trailer was somewhat quiet. With small conversations here and there. You must have fallen asleep in the middle of it because you got woken up to Reggie carrying you inside.
“Reg what are you doing?”
“Sorry baby I hope you don’t mind I grabbed your keys from your pocket and was going to carry you in”
“You seemed tired and I know you worked last night figured you could use some sleep”
“Well I'm awake you can put me down” he placed you on the ground outside of the truck before closing and locking the doors. “thank you babe” You grabbed his hand leading him into the trailer.
“Sorry it’s a mess”
“Baby there's a bottle on the table that is literally it, this whole place is cleaner than my bedroom”
“Your bedroom is also the size of this whole place so”
“Baby stop, you know I don’t care about that. I love it here”
“Don’t lie”
“I’m not Y/N. This place is a home”
“It’s a trailer”
“You don’t get it. Trailer, house or mansion. Whatever the building it doesn’t matter Y/N. My house is that just a house but this trailer you and Fangs made is a home. There is so much heart so much of him and you in here and I love seeing that”
“Thankyou, Reg”
“It’s just the truth I wouldn’t lie to you”
“I know you wouldn’t, hey I’m gonna get changed there are beers in the fridge if you want one”
“Thanks” You got changed into a pair of shorts and a tank top before walking out to see Reggie leaning against the side of the couch. You had a plan.
“Hey, Reg” You walked in sitting on his lap and playing with the strings of his hoodie.
“I know what you want” he quickly stripped his hoodie off before helping you slip your arms into it. After you laid into his side and pulled the blanket over both of you.
“So warm, thank you”
“Anything for you baby”
“I love your hoodies”
“Oh trust me I know I only have a few left, You think I could have them back?”
“I don’t know...”
“I mean you only like them after I wear them so I think it’s time I start wearing them again or you won’t have any left either” You chuckled slightly at his comment. Ever since that first date, all you did was steal his sweatshirts. There were times that he would notice and other times he wouldn’t. It always made you laugh when you would be over at his house and he would look for one but you knew it was laying on your bed. And that happened countless times.
“Wanna watch a movie?”
“Yeah let’s watch”
“Wait lemme guess (Your favorite movie)”
“How did you know?”
“Y/N we have watched movies together how many times, and every time without fail we end up watching this movie”
“Okay true, but I could have thrown a curveball”
“Oh talk dirty to me with the sports talk baby”
“Shut up Mantle, you don’t even play fucking baseball”
“But I could”
“Oh my god, just put the movie on” You hit him on the arm.
“Okay, okay I’ll put it on” You watched the movie talking some in between. With Reggie, conversations could be anything from joking about memes on Instagram to what people were wearing at a celebrity event. You would talk about things he cared about and things you cared about it didn’t matter what it was, but hearing his voice always made you feel calm.
You woke up to a slam of a door coming from the front of your house. You jumped up hitting Reggie in the mouth.
“Oh my god babe I’m so sorry” before you could even process Reggie had pushed you behind him grabbing the bat you kept behind the couch. You peeked over his shoulder to see Jughead standing there. You pushed in front of Reggie. “Jughead what the fuck are you doing?”
“Me? What the fuck are you doing?”
“You’re in my trailer!”
“Wait did you call Reggie babe!”
“Again Jug you are in my trailer, mine. So what the fuck are you doing in here, slamming the fucking door!”
“I was looking for Fangs!”
“He’s working!”
“Okay now answer my question why the fuck were you just laying on top of Reggie!”
“Oh my god use your fucking brain Jug, He’s my boyfriend”
“Your What!?! Fangs is gonna kill you!”
“He doesn’t dictate my life!”
“Well, maybe he should. Why would you date Mantle of all people? Not to mention he hates the Serpents!”
“Do you hear yourself. He may have done shit stuff in the past but he hasn’t done anything to the Serpents in months. He respects us Jug, He cares about me, and I am happy with him!”
“You are so fucking stupid Y/N he is probably just using you!” Reggie was tired of him coming at you at this point. He nudged you to the side slightly, before wrapping a protective arm around your waist.
“Jughead, stop”
“Oh shut it, Reggie, this doesn’t have anything to do with you this is about Y/N and her decisions!”
“No, I won’t shut it. It does have to do with me when you are talking about my girlfriend. I care about her. I love her. You don’t dictate that and neither does Fangs”
“Yeah well you’re probably just using her for sex” You stepped into Jugheads face.
“Stop judging my fucking relationship Jughead. I like Reggie a lot. He has done nothing but respect me and be sweet to me okay. So before you go and judge him maybe get to know him”
“Bullshit Y/N I'm going to find Fangs, and get ready for when he gets here!” Before you could respond you heard the slam of a bedroom door and Fangs run out.
“What the fuck is going on!” You looked to see Fangs running over to you.
“Fucking get out of my sisters face Jones or you’re going to regret it” he completely ignored the fact that Reggie was standing behind you.
“Are you kidding me?”
“Jones you have five seconds 1, 2” He stepped back leaning against the counter. “Now you wanna tell me why you fucking busted into this trailer yelling at my little sister”
“Me! You’re worried about me yelling! Do you not see her right now!”
“Stop fucking yelling! Yes, I see her! I saw her when I came in” you interjected at that point.
“When did you come home?”
“About an hour ago, I got done around eleven thirty so I got here around twelve-fifteen, and I was sleeping peacefully until Jones fucking busted in here like the world was going to implode. Now, Jones, you wanna tell me what your fucking problem is that you busted in here at nearly one in the morning”
“I came here because I found something out about the Gargoyles. I thought you were home but Y/N said you were working, wait!”
“Jug why the fuck are you staring at me?”
“You were home which means you saw them sleeping on the couch just like I did, wait why the fuck would you let them do that? What the fuck Fangs!”
“Your acting like I didn’t know” Wait, what you were shocked.
“Wait Fangs you knew?”
“Yeah Y/N, of course, I fucking knew I know everything”
“You’re okay with it?”
“He may not have liked the serpents but I’ve seen you around him and I’ve seen you come home after being with him, your happier with him and if that’s the case then I’m okay with it. Now if he hurts you, you know I’ll kill him, but honestly, the way he looks at you I doubt that’s gonna happen”
“Okay but I don’t get it we were so careful”
“Y/N you thought I wouldn’t notice when you came home smelling like cologne”
“Why were you smelling me bro”
“Oh my god, I’m gonna kill you. I wasn’t smelling you that is weird as fuck dude. I just mean you came home sat next to me and the cologne like wafted. No offense Reggie but you wear a lot of cologne”
“None taken”
“Also Y/N you started wearing random ass sweatshirts that also smelled like cologne so I just kind of assumed you met a guy. Then one of the guys I used to hang with works at the restaurant in Greendale and saw you with Mantle. He texted me a pic making sure all was good with me, but I guess I'm curious too. Why didn’t you just tell me? Mantle wasn’t ashamed of you was he?” Before you could even talk Reggie stepped up.
“I would never be ashamed of her first of all, please never think that. I would scream that I was with her to everyone”
“Look Fangs. I wanted to tell you”
“Why didn’t you then Y/N”
“I guess I was scared. I mean it’s been a long ass time since I dated anyone. The last time I did it didn’t end well and you were so worried for me. I didn’t wanna scare you or worry you that he would hurt me. I mean it took me a while to even accept a date. I just didn’t wanna tell anyone and hear everyone's shit. But I regret it. I mean I regret at least not telling you I’m sorry Fangs”
“It’s okay sis. I just wanted you to know that I love you and if you're happy with him then I am happy for you okay?”
“Thank you Fangs”
“Now Jug I am okay with this, which means you and everyone else will be too. I accept Reggie and Y/N and unless he hurts her then we will be happy for them got it? Now get out of our trailer please” Jughead got up walking out before Reggie turned kissing you on the cheek.
“I better get going babe I’ll catch you later, love you” Fangs stopped him though.
“Reggie it’s really late and you were sleeping before Jughead woke us all up. I'd rather you stay here than pass out while driving”
“Really Fangs!”
“Yeah Y/N, It’s your trailer too he can sleep here whenever he wants just don’t do no funny business while I’m around got it”
“Oh my god you are so embarrassing, we are going to bed. Love you bro” You walked into the back of the trailer to your bedroom. Getting into the bed next to Reggie.
“Thank you, Reg”
“For what baby?”
“Being so cool with Jug yelling and shit”
“You don’t have to thank me for that he was just spewing shit I could care less what he said, I care about us none of that other shit matters, but I am glad how it turned out”
“Me too reg, me too”
“I love this”
“What?”
“Just us like this, laying together being together you curled up next to me it’s my favorite”
“Your so cheesy but I love it”
“Only for you baby girl, now get some sleep” You curled into Reggie's side as he ran his hand in your hair. Slowly drifting to sleep you felt content in your boyfriend's arms.

I was a young child when it happened. My mother was murdered… I didn’t see it but I heard her screams of terror. I hid in my room and silently cried. What happened? Well my mother and I were home alone, my father was out for work. It was late and my mother was putting me to bed. We heard someone break into our house and my mother pushed me into my closet and told me to hide in the secret room. I tried to get her to hide with me but she wouldn’t. She left my room and it was quiet for a short amount of time, then all I could hear were her screams. I wanted to help her, I wanted to save her but I knew I couldn’t leave my spot. My mother was being murdered and I couldn’t help her! She screamed for what felt like forever, or maybe her screams were just echoing inside my head. My father came home and saw her on the floor dead, I still don’t know how she died. I never saw her body, my father didn’t want me to have that image burned into my brain. He found me and held me in his arms all night. The two of us became closer than ever before after that night.
My father grew his business, honestly I don’t know what it was, but we became rich. We were already high middle class, but by the time I was twelve we were pretty high class. My father had a bigger house built and it was so awesome, kind of gothic but still cool.
Tumblr media
My father was always into the darker side of thing. By the time I was seventeen, just about everyone in Riverdale would do anything my father would tell them to do. It was weird at first and I didn’t get why, but my father told me it was because he was the richest in town. My friends didn’t treat me any different which I was very happy about, but they did act a little strange sometimes. My father even brought the Southside Northside dram to an end, well at least with the Serpents. The Serpents moved to the Northside and the Ghoulies now ran the Southside. It was weird to have everyone be chill with each other, but everyone quickly got used to it. I mean it helped that Jughead Jones joined the Serpents, it made the transition easier. After a little while of us living in our new house my father hired servants. A male named Nathan, and a female named Amber. It was very weird to have servants but we did need help around the house.
It’s been a year and everything finally felt normal again. My father and I were in a good place. My friends and I were pretty close and I was becoming friends with the Serpents. They were all pretty cool, but I always got this weird feeling around one of them. Toni Topaz. She was always sweet to me, but something just felt weird around her. Well to be fair, I felt like a huge secret was being kept from me. Anytime I asked my friends and my dad if they were hiding anything they would say no and change the subject, so naturally, it made me think they were hiding something even more.
Right now I was with Betty, Jughead, Cheryl, Kevin, Veronica, and Archie, at Pop’s. We were having dinner right now since my dad was busy with work and wouldn’t be able to have dinner with me. I asked my friends if they wanted to join me and they agreed. We were just talking when Sweet Pea, Fangs, and Toni walked in. They smiled at us and Jughead waved them over. They walked over to join us but as they came closer I felt the familiar weird feeling. The only difference was that this time it was stronger. My heart raced and my breathing became faster.
“Hey guys, what’s up?” Fangs asked sitting down.
“Whoa Y/N, you okay?” Toni asked me and placed a hand on my shoulder. I jumped back and got up.
“Um, I gotta go!” I said putting down some money on the table and then ran out. I ran away as fast as I could. I ran until I couldn’t run anymore. I bent over to catch my breath and when I got up I was surrounded by Ghoulies.
“Look what we have here.” Malachai said with a smirk.
“What do you want Malachai?” I asked annoyed.
“You, blood sucker!” He growled and I looked at him confused.
“Blood sucker?” I asked confused.
“You don’t know, do you?” He asked with a smirk.
“Know what? That you’re crazy?” I asked and he glared at me.
“Get away from him!” Someone behind me hissed and I looked to see my friends. They were all glaring at the Ghoulies.
“You stupid blood bitch!” He shouted and held up some weird gun. He took aim at Toni and my eyes widened.
“Whoa what the fuck?” I shouted and stood in front of Toni.
“You think that’s gonna stop us from killing her? That just means we kill two blood bitches in one shot.” He said and cocked his gun.
“Get out of here before we kill all of you.” Fangs growled from behind one of them and I looked at them confused. How the hell did him and Sweet Pea get behind them?
“This isn’t over, you’re kind isn’t wanted here!” Malachai shouted and then they all ran off.
“What the hell was that all about?” I asked turning to my friends.
“Just Ghoulies being Ghoulies.” Toni said with a shrug.
“Bull! They know something I don’t! I knew you all were hiding something from me!” I said and narrowed my eyes at them.
“Y/N we’re-”
“Don’t even start Betty, Malachai said ‘Oh you don’t know?’ So what is it I don’t know?” I said cutting her off.
“Are you really gonna believe some Ghoulies over us?” Jughead asked and I rolled my eyes.
“Until you guys tell me what the fuck you’re keeping from me, don’t even think about talking to me.” I said and started walking away to my house.
“Y/N wait!” I heard Toni call but I ignored her. I got home and stormed into my house. Amber was there looking at me shocked and worried.
“Sir, are you alright?” She asked and I nodded.
“Yeah, where’s my father?” I asked and she smiled at me.
“In his office, follow me.” She said and started leading the way, even though I knew were it was.
“Master, Sir Y/N is home.” She said and opened the door for me. My father looked up and smiled at me.
“Thank you Amber.” He said and she bowed out of the room.
“Why are you home so early?” He asked. Getting up. I sat down in one of the chairs and he looked at me confused.
“You know how I get this weird feeling around Toni?” I asked and he nodded.
“Yes, but I’m sure it’s nothing.” He said sitting down at his desk.
“I don’t think it’s nothing dad, we were at Pop’s and then Toni, Fangs, and Sweet Pea walked in. I got the weird feeling again, but this time it was stronger. They came over to sit down with us but when she touched me the feeling became unbearable and I got up and ran. I ran maybe halfway home and stopped to catch my breath, when I looked up I was surrounded by Ghoulies and-”
“Ghoulies?” My dad asked cutting me off.
“Yeah anyway, they said they knew something about me and then everyone came up behind me to scare them off. Malachai held up a weird gun at Toni and I stood in front of her but that wasn’t gonna stop them. Fangs and Sweet Pea somehow got behind them and then they ran off. I asked everyone what they were hiding and they wouldn’t tell me. So tell me dad, what is this whole town hiding from me?” I asked narrowing my eyes at him. He looked at me shocked but then sighed.
“I should have known you would find out…” He said to himself but I heard.
“Find out what?” I asked.
“You’re a vampire son…” He said and I laughed but he didn’t.
“Wait what? Are you serious?” I asked and he nodded.
“Yes, it’s the reason your mother was killed.” He said and I just started at him confused.
“What?” I asked.
“I’m a vampire, your mother was a human, you’re a half blood but in two months when you turn 18 you will become a full fledged vampire. Your mother died to protect you.” I sat back in my chair letting everything settle in.
“The reason you feel weird around Toni is because she’s your mate.” He said and I raised my eyebrows at him.
“My mate?” I asked.
“Yes, every powerful vampire has one. Your mother wasn’t my mate but my mate was murdered before we could produce an heir. Your mother knew that I was a vampire and she said she wanted to be turned after you became one as well. She thought it was best that you had a human in your life while you were at home. Everyone in Riverdale except for the Ghoulies are vampires. The Ghoulies are the reason your mother is dead, they’re vampire hunters.” He said and I looked at him confused.
“This has to be a dream.” I said getting up.
“It’s not a dream son.” My father said getting up and grabbing my arms.
“It’s true son, everything I’m telling you in true. On your 18th birthday your fangs will come in and you will become a full vampire.” He said and I just stared at him.
“Everyone will protect you but you must protect your mate, better than I protect your mother…” He said getting choked up.
“It’s not your fault… I should have come out of hiding and saved her…” I said with a sigh.
“No, you would have died too.” He said and I sighed.
“So there was no winning that night…” I said and he nodded.
“If I was there maybe she would have lived but there was also the possibility that I would have died as well and you would then be alone…” He said and I hugged him.
“At least she’s safe now…” I said and he nodded.
“Well, now you know the truth.” He said and I smiled at him.
“Thank you.” I said and he nodded.
Over the next few weeks I got to know Toni more and she was great. I was really falling for her. Now I wasn’t sure if it was because of what my father told me or if it was my true feelings. In the end I decided it was my true feelings, I had to believe that or else I didn’t have control over my life. Toni had stayed over last night, probably because it was my birthday the next day. We were cuddling on my bed and everything was fine, until an extreme pain invaded my mouth. I shot up and screamed, Toni got up and placed her arm around me.
“Son! Are you alright? What happened?” My father asked storming into my room. I couldn’t say anything and I had tears streaming down my face.
“It’s time son, you’re becoming one of us.” He said with a smile.
“It normally wouldn’t hurt this much, but since your half human it hurts. It’ll be over soon son.” He said. I felt two sharp teeth push through my gum and I could feel my eyes changing as well. After what felt like forever, the pain stopped and I could smell the blood running through my father and Toni’s veins.
“It’s compleat. Here, look.” He said and handed me a mirror. I looked at myself and my eyes were now blood red, and I had fangs.
“Perfect…” My father said in awe and I smiled. I got up and turned to face Toni, she stared at me in awe as well.
“Now you look like a King.” She said with a smirk. My father slipped out of the room and shut my door.
“Fuck I love the way that sounds.” I said and she bit her lip.
“I want you to please your new King.” I said and she licked her lips.
“Yes my King.” She said and pushed me onto the bed. She ripped off her clothes and then mine. She got on top of me and slid herself all the way down on my cock.
“Oh fuck!” I moaned an gripped her ass.
“It feels so much better now doesn’t it?” She smirked and  I nodded. She rode my cock as fast as she could and her nails scratched my chest. She drew some blood and the delicious smell filled my nose.
“Fuck!” I moaned and pulled her down to me. I sunk my teeth into her neck. She moaned and dug her nails deep into my shoulders. I sucked her blood and the sweet, yet venomous blood ran down my throat. It was pure bliss.
“Fuck I’m not gonna last long!” I moaned as she moved her hips.
“Me either baby! Fuck! Drink as much of me as you want my King.” She moaned and I drank some more, not enough to make her pass out or make her weak though.
“Fuckkkkk!” We both moaned as we came. Toni fell next to me and we smiled at each other.
“Wow, that was the best sex ever…” I said and kissed her.
“Yeah.” She smiled then licked my chin and lips.
“How about we get cleaned up and then go down stairs.” She said and I nodded. The two of us got cleaned up and dressed, then went downstairs. My father was standing there with a smile.
“I have a surprise for you.” He said and then walked off into the dining room. The two of us followed him and there was all of Riverdale. They looked at us then bowed.
“What’s going on?” I asked Toni.
“You’re the future King, they’re just showing their respect.” She answered.
“Guys, I’m not King yet.” I said with a laugh. Everyone looked up then got up and looked at me with a smile.
“We have a surprise for you Y/N.” Betty said with a smile. Everyone parted and there were a few Ghoulies floating a little above the table. My mouth started to water and I licked my lips baring my fangs.
“Enjoy son, I wanted your first taste of human blood to be pure.” He said and then motioned for me to eat. I hissed and jumped on one of them. I attacked his neck and drank him dry. I moved on to the next, then the next, and the next, and the next, until all of them were drained. I stood up on the table and dropped his body on the floor I turned to everyone with blood dripping down my face.
“I want every last Ghoulie dead for what they did to my mother.” I growled and everyone, including my father, kneeled.
“Yes my King.” They all said and I smirked. They will pay.

{{Royalty Verse}}*#
They’re that quiet Queendom that everyone forgets about for a minute, but when they speak... everyone listens.
{{Camelot Verse}}*
They rule one of Camelot’s neighboring Queendoms, magic isn’t forbidden there but yet... no one knows that two of the most powerful mages in the Queendom are Queen Alexandra and her sibling, Grand Visier Elizabeth.
{{Immortal Verse}}*
The only difference from the main AU is that instead of being sent through time at the age of 16 and 15, Alex and Lizzie stayed and discovered that through their father's DNA, they are immortal. They cannot die and always look about 21-25. They have lived through everything, and while they tire of the politics... they still care for humanity.
{{Camp Half-Blood Verse}}*
In this verse, though they share the same mother, they have different fathers. Alex is a daughter of Apollo while Lizzie is a daughter of Ares. They are very different, but both will fight tooth and nail to protect their family and their home.

The Teenage Kingpin
WARNINGS: MENTIONS OF VIOLENCE, ATTEMPTED MURDER, GANG WARS
|eleven|
Emerald did not plan for her weekend to go this way. Honestly, she had plans to talk to Sapphire and clear the air between them. Look for potential recruits to add to the cheer team. Yet, somehow, someway, she was currently ducking behind a car in the middle of a shootout. She loaded some more bullets into her gun and took the time to look for her friends. Fangs and Sweet Pea were up ahead of her shooting from behind a truck while Toni was shooting from inside a car to the left of her. And Sapphire, oh so brave and stupid and reckless Sapphire, was standing on top of a jeep in front of them shooting with a machine gun.
Despite their unforgiving nature and the fact that some of them have killed before, they weren’t aiming for kill spots. Liable to be injured for months on end or seriously disabled? Yeah, that was much better.
Emerald couldn’t help but to feel grateful though. It was because of her that they were doing this. If she had never gotten so close to Reggie and let her darkness consume him, this wouldn’t be a problem. She and the rest of the Kingpin and half of Sapphire’s den wouldn’t be distracting the Ghoulies while Jughead, Joaquin, and the other half got the Northsiders back to their side of town.
A loud scream emerged through the air. Emerald’s head snapped up and she saw Sapphire falling to the ground clutching at her stomach. The tension in the air turned darker.
And then Emerald was no more.
Meri didn’t have some stupid tension with her gem sister. Meri was the manipulator of the Kingpin. She played people like chess people and she knew in her soul that her sister had a very good reason for murdering Philip Willis. It was just like she knew her sister was right in killing the Willis siblings.
That was why she pushed her way forward and shoved Emerald back. There was no time to be the kindhearted soul that she usually was. She needed to be tougher and braver with a heart of iron. She shook off her tension and relaxed.
Meri needed to create an opening so that Sweet Pea could get to his girlfriend. She cast a critical eye around their surroundings. She could see Nathan trying to make his way to his den leader out of her peripheral. She could feel the seething anger from Sweet Pea even from the distance she was at.
Her phone dinged with a message from Paz. She opened it quickly and it was a google maps street view of the area surrounding them. Another message pinged, and she got schematics of the buildings lingering. Meri grinned when she noticed that she was the closest to an accurate shot at the old gas pipeline. If she got it right (and she would. Her math was immaculate), then the bullet would bounce off the panel and fly towards the pipeline creating an explosion which would of course give them the perfect diversion to get Saph out of the line of fire and let them create an escape.
Meri took a deep breath before lining the shot just like it needed to be. A second passed and she squeezed the trigger. She watched as the bullet soared towards the panel before bouncing off it just like she knew it would. She watched it head towards the pipeline before finally colliding. The chain reaction was immediate and within seconds Sweet Pea was rushing for Sapphire.
Meri and the others shot off rounds in the chaos by the Ghoulies while Sweet Pea cradled Sapphire oh so gently and rushed her towards Fangs’ car that was further down the road. They all shot a few more times before they were taking off running behind the couple.
Meri was pushed down and Emerald relished in being in her right mind again.
She slid into the passenger seat of Fangs’ car hearing the whimpering from Sapphire from her spot across Sweet Pea’s and Toni’s laps.
“Get us to the medic stat,” Sweet Pea growled.
Fuck, she hoped Saph pulled through for everybody’s sake.
--
She did.
Barely.
The private physician for that Sapphire hired for the Serpents performed the surgery she needed. She had lost a lot of blood, and Saph just had to go on and show out how much special she was by being AB-.
She was still mad at Sapphire. She was still guilty by how she treated Sapphire after Toni told her why Sapphire killed Mr. Willis. But seeing one of her best friends… her sisters lying pale and so small, it made their argument seem so insignificant. It just made her wonder what Sapphire had been thinking when it was her lying on the bed.
Emerald couldn’t handle seeing Sapphire like that especially considering it was her fault. Sapphire wouldn’t have gotten shot if Emerald hadn’t overstepped her bounds. She was a Southsider. A serpent. They should have been the only ones she spent time with, but Reggie was so sweet and so different than the norm. She liked the freedom that she experienced when she was with him.
But Emerald would spend the rest of her days in her metaphorical bonds if it meant never seeing Sapphire like this again. Her fellow gem didn’t even have on any makeup. Honestly, she looked like a fifteen-year-old for a change. And even that was a stretch. Bare faced Sapphire looked so much like a child that one would think Sweet Pea was cradle robbing.
Sweet Pea.
He and Joaquin and FP had been here everyday without fail. Each pleading for her to wake up. And as usual, Sapphire proved how stubborn she was by refusing.
Gods of Olympus, she missed her friend.
She missed the way that only people that really knew Sapphire knew how her eyes would light up with excitement with whatever she was passionate about. She missed the fierce determination she had whenever she wanted something done. She missed walking into the gym and seeing Sapphire teaching her den how to fight people or watching her at the shooting range in Stone Manor teaching them how to shoot. She missed how Sapphire would show up at cheer practices with refreshments and food and a fresh set of eyes to make sure they were perfect. How she took days out of her frankly incredibly busy schedule to hand wash their jerseys and uniforms. She poured money into the Southside community as if she was pouring water.
People could say whatever they liked out Sapphire, but no one can deny she cared so much about the Southside and its people. She was insanely protective over what she deemed hers. And that’s what makes it so hard for Emerald to come to terms with what Sapphire did. She knows Sapphire is defensive and overprotective, but she never thought that her friend would kill anyone in her name.
It was too much for her to process.
She settles into the chair by the hotheaded gem, taking her hand and rubbing her thumb across the back of it like she saw Joaquin do. She didn’t know the prayer he whispered, but she hoped the effect was the same.
“You know being mad at you is such a chore…” she breaks eye contact from her hands to stare at Sapphire’s face. “Half the time I don’t think it’s worth it but trying to stay mad at you is just as hard.”
The words are spilling out of her mouth like water, boiling hot water. It hurts to confess to Sapphire when she can’t even hear it. She’s alone in this room with nothing, but her thoughts and shadows.
There’s no reaction on Saph’s face and Emerald wished for a moment that there was, that for some miracle Sapphire woke up for her. Just for her in this silent room and loud thoughts, that she would wake up and the two of them could finally talk and clear the air. She missed her best friend with the fierceness of a lion even when Sapphire was right there.
There’s a dull pain in her chest that hasn’t disappeared since watching Sapphire drop down on the jeep weeks prior. That whatever she wanted to say to Sapphire at the time she could have come clean with her feelings and she wouldn't be left in this gruesome waiting game of ‘can I forgive her or not.’
The back of her head says she already knows the answer. She lost her chance and should have made a stance weeks ago then maybe things could have been different. She buries her face into Sapphire’s arm. She drinks up the contact. She hasn’t been this close to Sapphire since the night she woke up in the Manor under all her guilt gifts.
“You make things too difficult, but you’re...you’ve taken up my thoughts and I hate it.” She laughs. “God Saph, I hate you so much.” A lie.
“Did you know that anytime I saw someone with a bold blue lipstick and clicking heels I would think it was you? I know, you’re a trendsetter and many girls at school kill to copy your style. But you’re my sister and it’s just hard to not to be able to turn around and see you looking so impassive to anyone that didn’t know you.”
There’s a faint sound of crickets that reaches Emerald’s ears through the window, she’ll have to close it when she leaves, who knows how many nasty bugs will crawl their way into the building that way.
“You’re probably ignoring me even in your sleep Saph...but I guess it’s better to say it now then never, I-I forgive you. I’ve forgiven you since the day Jazz Towers mentioned my kidnapping and you spent the rest of first period wiping the floor with her while the others were pulling me out of a flashback.”
Emerald choked back a sob, “For fuck’s sake, wake up. I miss you.”
Finally, she closes his eyes and for once in the past few weeks she falls asleep quickly.
 --
Sleeping in the chair in Sapphire’s room has to be one of her worst ideas. There’s an awful crick in her neck and a dull ache in her back now. It probably won’t go away until she goes to sleep again in the cold comfort of her bed. Emerald’s eyes flutter open and she’s met with the harsh light of the morning sun. Without thinking her arm is already up and covering her face. She hopes that she’s not late for her patrol of the Serpent territory to keep the war with the Ghoulies’ in control. It’s one thing at school where they were all feared and couldn’t be properly contained, but it was different on the streets where all battles could probably be the final one.
She never did close the window either. She prays no spiders made their way into the room during the night, because if they did Saph is on her own.
“You know…you’re the last person I expected to see when I woke up.”
The voice jerks her out of his tranquil peace so fast that the chair tilts and Emerald finds herself screaming. The chair is gone it makes a loud sound as it hits the floor and slides to hit the room wall. Emerald feels like she just finished getting body slammed by Hog Eye when they’re practicing hand-to-hand combat. The pain in her back and head only becomes worse.
“Shit, I didn’t mean to scare you.” Saph’s voice is gruffy from the lack of use and more than likely dry as well.
The princess wants to cry. The universe is out for her, time and time again she’s being shoved with series of happy unfortunate situations with Sapphire. She takes a moment to think, to think what to say, to think of her next moves, but everything comes up blank.
Maybe once she gets a good look at Sapphire she’ll be able to. Possibly think of a concrete thought.  Finally she opens her eyes and looks around. Sapphire is leaning over the small railing of her bed that Grammy Sweets and Nana Fangs demanded to be installed, worry filters her face as she prepares to say something else to Emerald.
Nope. If anything, it completely whips the brunet’s mind of any coherent thought. Like a fish out of water she stutters as she opens and closes her mouth repeatedly.
“Are you okay?” Sapphire says, and she looks so worried for Emerald you could think that past few weeks of unforgiven tension between them never happened.
“Y-yeah. I’m fine, I just--I didn’t think you’d be up, I’ve--everyone’s been worried.” The cheer captain finally finds her voice and she’s a stuttering mess, Sapphire looks like she’s about to laugh her ass off with how Emerald is reacting. A slight twitch to her lips like she’s holding it back.
“You sure? You hit your head pretty hard, it sounds like it hurt.” The raven-haired heiress coughs to cover up the laugh that’s bubbling to the surface.
The best thing to do is always embarrass yourself in front of the person that you need to beg forgiveness from, nice one Emmy.
“It did but sleeping in that chair has probably been the worst thing in my life too.” Good a normal conversation, she sounds normal. Maybe. She thinks she might be pitching her voice and running out of breath a lot faster than usual. This is normal, yes of course.
“You sure you okay Wayne?” The way her name rolls off Saph’s tongue is like music to her ears, she springs up so fast her back cracks and she sees the way Sapphire cringes at the sound.
(It didn’t escape her notice that Sapphire called her by her last name. An occurrence so rare its damn near a myth. It just goes to show how far they’ve strayed and how hurt Sapphire was by her actions no matter how justified.)
“Better than ever, thanks for asking.” It’s rushed out so quickly she can see Saph didn’t understand a word she just said.
“Uh…okay...sure,” She gives Emerald a quick one over just to make sure and settles back into her bed. Emerald could feel Meri pulsing in the back of her mind and reaching for Phire. Emerald knew intellectually that she and Meri were the same person, but it was mainly easier to think of that darker side of her as a different person. It also made Sapphire feel better and that nothing was wrong with her despite being diagnosed with such a mental illness. She could see Sapphire’s unease when she saw the IV dripping with the medicine to keep Phire under control and stabilized.
Slowly Emerald pushes herself up and places both of her hands on the edge of the mattress, leaning her weight into it. “But really, I’m happy to see you awake, you’ve...been asleep for a long time.”
Sapphire blinks and looks up at her confused, “How long?”
“If you slept another week it would have been a month.”
“It’s been that long?”
Emerald nods not looking away from Sapphire, drinking in the sight of the other and their small actions. The way Saph nose scrunches up in thought and the slight pout to her lips. The self-loathing and anger and regret in her eyes for making them wait so long for her to awaken for something as stupid as a bullet wound. She should’ve been more careful. She shouldn’t have let Phire have so much control.
Honestly, if Sapphire was so injured, Emerald would slap the shit out of her to keep those thoughts away.
“Yeah, in that time the Ghoulies have gotten a little more brave though it hasn’t been long, I’ve been training the Northies too.” Sapphire freezes and looks like she wasn’t prepared for Emerald to say that. She could basically see Sapphire’s walls come down. She knew what the other princess thought she was going to say. And while it was a true though, she knew how much Sapphire hated being compared to the Northsiders even though she dressed like them and talked like them and apparently fought like them though she was definitely more vicious. “They’re alright, they have this your dramatic flair I’m trying to get rid of.” Emerald smiles and tilts his head to the side. A dramatic flare just like you.
It appears to be the right answer as Sapphire relaxes and smiles up to Emerald, “Bet they’re nowhere near the level of my den.”
She was absolutely right. Sapphire’s den was a reflection of her and she took great pride in them. The Northsiders wouldn’t stand a chance. Hell, if it were for Emerald’s princess status in the Serpents and being a part of the Kingpin, she was sure that the Saph’s den would’ve tore her to pieces for getting her hurt. She knew that they wanted to demolish the Northsiders especially Reggie, but the war with the Ghoulies took precedence. And they were under strict orders from Sweet Pea to not touch them as he took over the den in his girlfriend’s absence.
“Where’s Sweet Pea,” ah Emerald knew it wouldn’t have been long before Sapphire asked for him.
“He’s been busy with your den; do you want me to find him?” Her voice betrays her, she doesn’t want to leave the other yet. For once in a long time she’s has her sole attention with no one else to get in their way. She wants to take this in, enjoy it for what she can before this is ripped away from her too. Before the two of them have to have the conversation to clear the air between them and Emerald can properly apologize again.
“It’s fine, I’m sure he’ll just know and be here when he can, he’s a complete mother hen.” Sapphire smiles, holding back a laugh.
A part of Emerald wondered why Sapphire was so calm and expressive with her after the weeks of anger and tension between them. Even when they had to present the arc reactor that Sapphire somehow managed to pull off and create for their class project and had the rest of them recite the schematics and how it was built and how the different elements reacted to the power core, there was tension between them. She remembered thinking to herself that some of the elements she was using for the project was rare and did she pay hush money and who she killed just to get it.
Yet here Sapphire is acting as if none of that had happened.
Emerald does too, snorting and placing her hands on her hips. “You’re not wrong. Do you want me to call anybody else in?”
Sapphire stops smiling and thinking for a moment, eyes furrowing in thought. Emerald heart stops and her mind goes into overdrive. Maybe she really didn’t expect to see her and hoped for someone else. Maybe she was just being polite and courteous. But the look in Sapphires eyes were genuine and the smiles she was gracing the room were pure.
“No? I actually wanted to talk to you, since you know we never got to since I ended up getting shot and everything.”
Emerald stops functioning, and she thinks she’ll just prefer to make a break for it. The brunet didn’t think that the other would bring up the topic so quickly.
I’m sure when she wakes up she’ll want to speak with you. Thanks FP.
“Oh...yeah that,” she responds lamely, scratching the back of her head.
“I know we kinda left each other on...a bad note, but I do-” Sapphire can’t seem the right words as she turns her head to look away from Emerald. It hits her like a ton of bricks. It was a well-known fact that despite how caring Sapphire was, she was absolutely shitty at comforting people and expressing her feelings and apologizing. She had been working on it because she hadn’t wanted it to seem like she was some manipulative bitch that got all her problems swept under a rug because she didn’t know how to be empathetic.
It also kept her and Sweet Pea from breaking up every other week.
The brunet decides to save her the trouble, “Hey it’s okay, I was a jerk and you had every right to be one back it’s fine, I’m sorry.”
But Sapphire shook her head, “No, I have to apologize for the stuff with the Willis’. I should’ve told you from the beginning starting with running them out of town. I didn’t expect to care for you as deeply as I do. I didn’t think I would see you as a sister. At the beginning, you were just another girl. Basically, an insurance. Another equal for Toni whenever I had to leave on business. I never supposed to have let you get close enough to have the power to hurt me…”
“…But the night that Candace put those dead snakes around you and I found out Philip was trying to take you in. I knew I had to do something. FP had said that he would handle it, but I just couldn’t wait. Something need to be done soon and fast, so I had manipulated my way around everything and took control of their reigns of life. I just knew I had to protect you no matter the cost…”
“… And Emerald, I am so, so, so sorry that you got hurt because of my careless. And even then, hurt doesn’t even fully cover it, but I don’t regret it. I’d do it a thousand times again if it means keeping you out that creep’s hand and hell if I could, I would’ve gotten rid of the twins at the time while I was at it.”
Emerald knew there were tears streaming down her face. Even without the makeup and still being so pale, the intensity of determination and stubbornness and protectiveness in Sapphires eyes made her look like so normal. Made her look like the Serpent Princess that she was.
Emerald stepped forward and wrapped her arms around Sapphire, “I forgave you a long time ago.”
Honestly, it was one of the best mornings Emerald had in a while.

Sweet to Rebellious ~Sweet Pea Imagine~
Summary: You’re a Northsider who grew up in the Southside. When you meet Sweet Pea, your father isn’t happy with that. This causes a Romeo and Juliet relationship to bloom.
Author’s Note: May or may not have been listening to Check Yes Juliet by We The Kings while writing this and doing her driving classes at the same time as writing this imagine. Also I’m giving you all fake cousins.
Tumblr media
You knew what the Southside was capable of. After all, you grew up there for the first four years. However, that never meant all of your family moved up to the Northside like you did. When you went to visit some cousins of yours, they decided it’ll be fun to go into a bar and play pool.
“Are you sure this is safe?” You ask them as you arrived to a bar called, the Whyte Wyrm.
“Of course it is,” Your cousin, Nathan, says.
“Why you scared?” Your other cousin, Alex, asks.
“No,” You say.
“Lies!” Alex smiled before nudging you.
“Oh shut up,” You mumble.
“Besides, Patrick and James are old enough to be in here so it’s okay,” Nathan said before pulling you to a headlock.
“Please let me go,” You say. Nathan let go of you before all of you went inside the bar.
Patrick got you and your other two cousins a pool table so while you played, Patrick and James could drink. You were beating their butts in pool making you think that they were doing this on purpose.
“You seem good at this,” You looked up to see a cute boy in a leather jacket smirking down at you.
“I’m pretty sure they’re just letting me win on purpose,” You tell him.
“I’m Sweet Pea,” He introduces himself.
“Interesting name,” You smile.
“What’s yours?” Sweet Pea asks.
“Oh, I’m Y/N,” You introduce yourself.
As you and Sweet Pea talked, your dad came into the Whyte Wyrm for a drink with Patrick and James. He looked over to see the Serpent wrap an arm around you as your cousins were playing the game or drinking.
“Y/N,” Your dad said. You looked over to see him not to please with you.
“Excuse me, Sweet Pea,” You tell him before walking over to your dad.
“Yes?” You ask him.
“I told you to stay away from gang members. Especially Serpents and Ghoulies. Come on, we’re going home,” Your dad tells you. You frown and looked down at the floor.
“Boys, let’s go,” Your dad tells the boys. They all got up and put the things away before walking off. You look back at Sweet Pea to see him watch you leave.
After your encounter with Sweet Pea, you couldn’t stop thinking about him. You walked into Pop’s hoping to get some lunch before you went home. You slid into a booth before taking out your book. You started to read until you heard someone spoke.
“Never thought I’d see you again,” You look up and smiled.
“Hi, Sweet Pea,” You say happily.
“Hey, Y/N. Mind if I join you?” He asked.
“Not at all,” You say, putting your book bag on the other side of you.
“So, what happened when you left?” Sweet Pea asked you.
“Oh, well, my dad is strict and he isn’t a big fan of gangs,” You tell him.
“Is it because he thinks we’re not good enough?” Sweet Pea asks you.
“No. I used to live in the Southside for a bit before moving to the Northside. My dad claims that gangs will just get yourself killed or pressure you into doing drugs,” You tell him.
“Well, I wouldn’t do that,” Sweet Pea tells you.
“Too bad you can’t prove that to him,” You sigh.
“Yeah. You’re really pretty and I want to get to know you more,” Sweet Pea tells you, making you blush.
“Well, what do you want to know about me?” You asked.
As you both sat in Pop’s enjoying each other’s company until you got a call from your dad to come home already.
“Let me drop you off,” Sweet Pea offered.
“You sure?” You ask him.
“Yeah.”
You both went outside and you saw his motorcycle. You shifted a bit since you’ve never been on a motorcycle before.
“Never rode one before?” Sweet Pea asks you. You shook your head making him grin.
“I promise I’ll take it easy,” He told you before giving you his helmet.
Once he made it to your block, he stopped at the corner. You still had your arms around him not wanting to leave.
“This is your block,” He tells you.
“That was accelerating.” You tell him.
“You like?”
“Yeah,” You nodded.
“You should go before your dad gets mad,” Sweet Pea tells you. You nodded before taking out a piece of scratch paper from your bag. You got out a pen as well before writing down your number. You slid it into his leather jacket and smiled.
“Text me,” You tell him before kissing his cheek and walking towards your house.
As the time rolled by, you and Sweet Pea started to fall for each other. You started to sneak out of the house more and more to see him. When he asked you to be his girlfriend, you felt like the happiest person on Earth.
When you heard about the arrest at Southside High, your dad went on about how they were thugs and how they deserved it.
“They’re your age and doing drugs. What a bunch of idiots,” Your dad says.
“They’re not all so bad,” You say.
“Y/N, they’re gang members. If I ever find out you join a gang, I’ll disown you,” Your dad tells you.
“Glad to know,” You mumble.
You looked at a Polaroid picture of you and Sweet Pea that his friend (now your’s as well) Toni, took of you two. You heard a tap on your window making you walk over to see Sweet Pea smiling as soon as he saw you. You open your window and smiled.
“What are you doing here?” You asked him.
“I got out. Had to come see you,” He tells you.
“I can’t let you in,” You tell him.
“I know. Tomorrow, come to the Whyte Wyrm,” He tells you. You nodded before shutting your window.
The next night, you went to the Whyte Wyrm, lying to your parents that you were visiting your cousins. You saw Sweet Pea playing some pool making you walk over to him and wrap your arms around him.
“Hi,” You smile.
“Hey,” He said before giving you a kiss.
“What do you want to do?” You ask him.
“Well, I was thinking we can go to another room and just make out,” Sweet Pea tells you.
“I like that idea,” You smirk. Sweet Pea leaned in and gave you a kiss.
“Y/N, is that your dad?” Toni asked. You both looked over to see your dad walk in with a mad face.
“Shit,” You said.
“Cover us?” Sweet Pea asked Fangs and Toni.
“You owe us,” Fangs told him.
“Go,” Toni said.
You saw Fangs and Toni block your view while other Serpents were distracting your dad. You both run out from the back way and made your way to the front where his bike was.
You got on behind him as your mother watched. She got out of the car as she had time to stop you. However, she saw how happy you were. She saw how Sweet Pea gave you his jacket as it was about to rain and his helmet for your protection.
As you both drove off, she smiled a little before looking over at your dad who walked out of the Whyte Wyrm.
“Did you see her out here?” Your dad asked her.
“I think we should talk about Y/N and that boy she’s been seeing,” Your mom said, now about to fight for your relationship.
Meanwhile, you and Sweet Pea went to his house to avoid the rain. You ran inside the house before you wrapped your arms around him and giving him a kiss.
“I love you,” You tell him.
“I love you too,” He said before kissing you again.

Author's note
This one-shot is set in an alternate universe where Jughead didn't break up with Betty after she did the Serpent dance, Jughead and Toni never kissed, the Black Hood got Betty to choose his victims but didn't make her end her relationship with Jughead and her friendship with Veronica, Archie and Veronica didn't break up and Veronica didn't start dating Reggie, Alice, Polly, Cheryl, Kevin, Toni, Fangs, and Principal Weatherbee never joined the Farm, the Farm never kidnapped Betty, Toni, Cheryl, and Fangs were never kicked out of the Serpents, the Pretty Poisons don't exist, Toni and Cheryl didn't break up, Jughead and the rest of the Serpents didn't start playing Gryphons and Gargoyles, FP and Alice never dated or had an affair, the Stonewall Prep storyline never happened, and Principal Honey was never hired.
On the Heathers casting sheet, which you can find on Riverdale showrunner Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa's Twitter page, Sweet Pea wrote the initials NM, and Fangs wrote the initials FF. Based on that, we can assume Sweet Pea's first name starts with the letter N and his last name starts with the letter M and Fangs' first name and last name start with the letter F. I chose the name Nathan Montgomery for Sweet Pea and the name Francis Fogarty for Fangs.
Jughead Jones led Toni Topaz, Sweet Pea, Hannah Pearson, Fangs Fogarty, and the rest of the Southside Serpents through the doors of Riverdale High School. Sweet Pea gripped Hannah's hand tightly as they walked down the hallway. Toni and Fangs walked beside Sweet Pea and Hannah, glaring at anyone who looked at them the wrong way.
The Serpents stopped walking when they saw the table that Veronica Lodge, her boyfriend, Archie Andrews, and Kevin Keller were standing behind.
Veronica smiled. "Friends! On behalf of the students and faculty here at Riverdale High, welcome to your new school! To ease this transition, I've set up a registration desk, where you can get your locker assignments, class schedules, and a list of sports and extracurriculars. We encourage each and every one of you to drink deeply from the cup that is fair Riverdale."
"Stand down, Eva Perón!" Cheryl Blossom yelled, walking down the stairs, followed by Reggie Mantle and a group of girls in blue and gold cheerleading uniforms.
Veronica sighed and looked at Jughead before facing Cheryl.
"There's the school spirit I so fondly remember," Jughead said sarcastically.
"Cheryl." Veronica acknowledged, glaring at the redheaded girl. "No one invited Fascist Barbie to the party."
"Wrong, Veronica. No one invited Southside scum to our school." Cheryl said, crossing her arms over her chest.
The Serpents tensed.
"Listen up, ragamuffins!" Cheryl yelled.
"Ragamuffins? What kind of insult is that?" Hannah asked.
Hannah was tall and slender. Her long brown hair was parted in the middle and styled in loose curls. She was wearing an unzipped black leather jacket with the Southside Serpents symbol on the back, an unbuttoned long-sleeved green and white plaid flannel shirt over a white tank top, dark blue denim jeans, and black combat boots with black laces. She had on a light amount of black eyeliner, a light amount of black mascara, and soft brown eyeshadow. Her lip balm was a pretty peach colour. She had a double-headed snake tattoo on her left arm, but it couldn't be seen underneath her jacket. She didn't have any other tattoos besides her Serpent tattoo. She didn't have any scars or birthmarks. She didn't have any piercings.
Hannah was 16 years old. She joined the Serpents when she was 15. She did her Serpent dance to Warrant's song Cherry Pie. She lost her virginity to a guy her age one night at a party shortly after she joined the Serpents. They weren't romantically involved. It was just a hookup, nothing more. At some point, she and Sweet Pea realized they were attracted to one another and started dating.
Cheryl looked at Hannah with raised eyebrows and then started speaking again. "I will not allow Riverdale High's above average GPA to suffer because of classrooms that are overcrowded with underachievers, so please do us all a favour and find some other school to debase with your hard-scrabble ways." She looked the Serpents up and down with a fake smile on her cherry red lips and held her hands together in front of her.
"Why don't you come over here and say that to my face?" Toni asked angrily, moving towards Cheryl. Jughead, Sweet Pea, Hannah, and Fangs followed her, ready to fight.
Cheryl got in Toni's face. "Happily, Queen of the Buskers."
"She is just asking to get her ass kicked," Hannah muttered to Sweet Pea. She was about to lunge at Cheryl, but he grabbed her arm and pulled her back.
"Okay, guys, can we just put our differences aside and start over?" Archie stood in between Toni and Cheryl. Hannah's gaze went from being focused on Cheryl to being focused on him. "A clean slate?" He looked between Cheryl and the Serpents.
"You don't speak for the Bulldogs, Andrews, and need I remind you that these greaser snakes showed up at your place trying to kick your ass," Reggie said, giving Archie a pointed look.
"Happy to finish what we started." Sweet Pea threatened, shoving past Toni and moving towards Reggie. He stopped in his tracks when he felt Fangs and Jughead's arms hold him back.
Veronica stood in between Reggie and Sweet Pea, putting a hand on Sweet Pea's left arm. "I'm so over the toxic masculinity in this hallway right now," she said loudly, her voice full of annoyance.
"All right, that's enough pomp and circumstance! Everyone, get to class now!" Principal Weatherbee yelled.
Reggie backed off.
Veronica took her hand off of Sweet Pea's arm. He began to walk towards the staircase. Jughead shoved him, causing him to pick up the pace. He could make out the rustling of papers as he and the rest of the Serpents walked down the hallway.
"Stupid Northsiders," Sweet Pea grumbled.
"It's okay, babe. Everything will get better." Hannah said, rubbing Sweet Pea's arm and getting him to calm down. "And if it doesn't, we'll just kick their asses," she added. He laughed.
Hannah walked into the math classroom. Math was her last class of the day. Once the clock struck 3, she would be able to get on her motorcycle and go back to her trailer.
None of the other Serpents had math at this time of day besides Jughead, who was sitting next to a girl with fair skin, blue eyes, and long straight blonde hair tied up in a high ponytail wearing a white t-shirt, an unbuttoned pink cardigan, dark blue denim jeans, and beige ankle-length boots.
The girl was named Elizabeth Cooper. She was Jughead's girlfriend. Hannah met her at FP's retirement party. She was as sweet as apple pie and was one of the few Northsiders Hannah could stand to be around.
Hannah sat on the other side of Jughead and smiled at Betty. "Hey, Betty."
Betty smiled back. "Hey, Hannah."
The teacher wrote an equation on the whiteboard and explained it to the class.
Hannah listened intently while writing in her notebook. Despite what people like Cheryl and Reggie may think, she was actually pretty smart and cared about getting an education.
The clock struck 3, and Hannah left the classroom and walked out to the parking lot. She got on her motorcycle and drove to her trailer.
Betty laid in her bed, cell phone in hand, browsing Instagram. The name Hannah Pearson showed up in the list of suggested followers. She tapped on Hannah's profile picture and checked out her profile. Hannah had 99 posts and 85 followers and was following 100 people. At the top of the page, there were pictures of Hannah, a picture of Hannah's black Honda CB550 motorcycle, and a picture of the outside of the Whyte Wyrm.
Tumblr media
Betty scrolled down the page and saw a close-up of the Serpent tattoo on Hannah's left arm, pictures of Hannah and Sweet Pea, and pictures of Hannah, Toni, and Fangs. She couldn't help but smile at how cute Hannah and Sweet Pea were together and how close Hannah and her friends were.
Betty hit the follow button. A few minutes later, she got a notification saying that Hannah had followed her.
A few weeks had passed since the Serpents transferred to Riverdale High. The Bulldogs and the Serpents had been in their fair share of fights, and Principal Weatherbee had banned the Serpents from wearing their leather jackets and showing their tattoos. Sweet Pea had to wear a turtleneck in order to cover his tattoo, much to the amusement of the rest of the Serpents.
Hannah was talking to Fangs in the student lounge. She stifled a laugh as Sweet Pea walked in. "You look great, babe."
Fangs turned around and burst into laughter.
Sweet Pea was wearing a white turtleneck underneath an unbuttoned blue and white plaid flannel shirt with long sleeves, dark blue denim jeans, and black combat boots with black laces.
"Shut the fuck up," Sweet Pea grumbled, making his way over to Hannah.
Hannah tried to conceal her smile. "It suits you."
Hannah was wearing a grey tank top underneath an unbuttoned red and grey plaid flannel shirt with long sleeves, dark blue denim jeans, and black ankle-length leather boots with silver studs on the buckles. Her long brown hair was styled in loose curls. She had on a light amount of black eyeliner, a light amount of black mascara, and soft brown eyeshadow. Her lip balm was a pretty peach colour.
Fangs smiled. "Yeah. It...Um…It brings out the colour of your eyes."
Sweet Pea shoved Fangs.
"It's really not that bad. I've seen Fangs wear much worse." Hannah said.
"Hey!" Fangs exclaimed, offended.
Hannah kissed Sweet Pea. "You would look good in anything, I promise."
"Thanks, but that doesn't make me feel any better." Sweet Pea said.
"Are you guys busy tonight?" Fangs asked.
Sweet Pea shook his head. "No."
"Do you want to go see Love, Simon at the Bijou with me?" Fangs asked.
"I was going to invite Toni, but she's too busy trying to get with Cheryl Bombshell." Fangs rolled his eyes.
"Sounds like fun. We'll be there." Hannah told Fangs.
That night, Sweet Pea, Hannah, and Fangs arrived at the Bijou in Sweet Pea's truck. Sweet Pea held Hannah's hand as they walked in and found their seats.
Fangs nudged Sweet Pea and Hannah. "Guys, look."
Sweet Pea and Hannah turned around.
Toni was sitting next to Cheryl. She made a flirtatious comment, causing Cheryl to blush.
Hannah smiled. "Aww, how cute!"
Cheryl and Toni became a couple a few weeks after their date.
Principal Weatherbee lifted the ban on Serpent jackets and Serpent tattoos, and the Serpents started wearing their jackets to school again.
Betty and Jughead lost their virginity.
Hannah stood beside Sweet Pea, laughing at something stupid he had said. Fangs was on the other side of him. Jughead was in front of them. She looked around the park and saw Cheryl standing next to Toni and laughing. She smiled.
Jughead's father, FP Jones, whistled, getting the attention of the Serpents.
"Listen up, now! All right, listen up!" FP yelled.
"Some 60 years ago, the very first Serpent meeting took place on these same riverbanks. Now, it makes sense that this is where we gather now, where I…Where I say my goodbye. Jughead, would you step up here, son?" FP asked.
The crowd started muttering.
"What the fuck is going on?" Hannah whispered to Sweet Pea.
Hannah was wearing her black leather jacket with the Southside Serpents symbol on the back, an unbuttoned long-sleeved blue and black plaid flannel shirt over a black tank top, dark blue denim jeans, and black ankle-length leather boots with silver studs on the buckles. She had on a light amount of black eyeliner, a light amount of black mascara, and soft brown eyeshadow. Her lip balm was a pretty peach colour. Her hair was straight.
"I have no idea. To be honest, I thought we came here to get drunk and celebrate how far we've come." Sweet Pea said.
Hannah laughed.
Jughead walked towards FP.
"What are you doing?" Jughead mumbled.
"What I should have done a long time ago," FP muttered.
"I'm retiring from the Serpents." FP announced. The muttering got louder. "For real this time."
FP put his arm around Jughead's shoulder. "Now, my boy has never stopped fighting for this crew. Hell, he almost died for it." He turned to face his son. "That's why I'm giving you the mantle."
The crowd cheered. Sweet Pea hit Fangs, making him wince.
"And now, as your first official duty as Serpent King…" FP nodded to Toni, who made her way towards FP and Jughead and handed FP a red leather jacket with the Southside Serpents symbol on the back.
"I think you know what to do with this." FP handed the jacket to his son. Jughead smiled.
"All right, all right," Jughead muttered. "All I can say is…I love you, Dad. And the Serpents will not die out. Not on my watch."
The crowd cheered.
Cheryl walked towards Jughead, and they smiled at each other as he gave her the red leather jacket.
"Welcome to the Serpents, Cheryl." Hannah said.
Cheryl smiled at Hannah before making her way over to Toni and kissing her.
"One more thing." Jughead pulled out his cell phone. "We have a new Serpent Queen." He called Betty.
Fangs started dating a girl named Emma Walker.
Emma was a Northsider. She was on the cheerleading squad with Betty, Veronica, Cheryl, and Toni. There were no other Serpents on the cheerleading squad besides Toni.
Jughead finished writing Anatomy of a Murder, his book on Jason Blossom's death and the effect it had on the people of Riverdale. It made it to the top of the New York Times Best Seller list.
After their lunch date at Pop's, Sweet Pea and Hannah went back to his trailer.
Hannah walked into Sweet Pea's bedroom. Sweet Pea followed her. He shut the door.
Hannah took off her black combat boots, dark blue denim jeans, black t-shirt, and Serpent jacket, leaving her in just her black lingerie.
Sweet Pea left a trail of kisses on the side of Hannah's neck, rubbing his hands up and down her legs. Hannah groaned in pleasure, taking off Sweet Pea's clothes, leaving him in just his boxers.
Hannah straddled Sweet Pea's body as they laid on top of the bed. She kissed down his body, creeping closer to his boxers. Sweet Pea flipped them over so that he was on top. The two kissed each other all over as they made love.
Sweet Pea and Hannah collapsed on the bed next to each other.
"You up for round 2?" Sweet Pea asked.
Hannah rolled on top of Sweet Pea. "Definitely."
At the beginning of junior year, Hal and Alice got divorced, Emma and Fangs lost their virginity, Hiram and Hermione got divorced, FP became the sheriff of Riverdale, Veronica opened a speakeasy in the basement of Pop's, Cheryl lost her virginity to Toni, Hal and Hiram were sentenced to life in prison, Alice and FP's son, Charles Smith, shut down the Farm, Hermione got people to stop playing Gryphons and Gargoyles, burned every single copy of the player's handbook, and arrested the Gargoyle Gang, Gladys and Jellybean moved back to Toledo, Fangs' mother succumbed to her illness, Toni's grandfather died of old age, and Pop Tate died of old age.
After the fall of the Gargoyle Gang, a new gang arrived in Riverdale. They were called the Scorpions. Each member wore a black leather jacket with a big red scorpion on the back. They dealt drugs and street raced for sport, just like the Ghoulies had.
The Serpents and the Scorpions were enemies.
At the beginning of senior year, Fred died in a hit-and-run accident after stopping alongside the road to help a stranded motorist.

It was the night of the senior prom.
The dance was being held at the Five Seasons.
Veronica, Betty, Cheryl, Hannah, and Emma had gotten ready for the dance at Betty's house.
The limo Veronica had rented pulled into Betty's driveway.
Archie, Jughead, Toni, Sweet Pea, and Fangs stepped out of the limo and stood in the driveway, waiting for Veronica, Betty, Cheryl, Hannah, and Emma to step out of the house.
Archie was wearing a black suit, a white dress shirt, a black necktie, and black dress shoes with black laces.
Jughead was wearing a black suit, a white dress shirt, a black necktie, and black dress shoes with black laces. His beanie rested on top of his head.
Toni was wearing black high-heeled sandals and a strapless black dress with a floor-length skirt. The sweetheart neckline showed a hint of cleavage. Her long brown hair with pink highlights was styled in loose curls. The curls were pushed out of her face but still left to fall down her back. She had on a light amount of black eyeliner, a light amount of black mascara, and soft brown eyeshadow. Her lip balm was a light shade of berry pink.
Sweet Pea was wearing a black suit, a white dress shirt, a black necktie, and black dress shoes with black laces. The first two buttons of his shirt were undone. His Serpent tattoo was on full display.
Fangs was wearing a black suit, a white dress shirt, a black necktie, and black dress shoes with black laces.
Archie's jaw dropped when he saw Veronica walking towards him. "Wow. You look stunning."
Veronica was wearing navy blue high-heeled sandals and a navy blue floor-length dress. It was strapless and had a sweetheart neckline. The neckline showed a hint of cleavage. The top was folded pieces of soft fabric, and the bottom billowed when she walked, giving her the appearance that she was flying. A small silver chain with a tiny diamond hung low on her chest. Her shoulder-length wavy black hair was in an elegant updo, leaving her neck bare. Her brown eyes were framed by long dark lashes, her lips were plum and shiny, and her cheeks were rosy.
Veronica smiled and gave Archie a peck on the lips. "Thank you, Archie."
Archie walked towards the limo. Veronica walked beside him. He held the door open and took her by the hand, helping her get in the backseat.
Jughead's jaw dropped when he saw Betty walking towards him. "Wow. You look incredible."
Betty was wearing pale pink high-heeled sandals and a pale pink dress with a floor-length skirt and a sweetheart neckline that turned into off-the-shoulder sleeves. The neckline showed a hint of cleavage. A small silver chain with a tiny diamond hung low on her chest. Her long blonde hair was styled in barrel curls. The curls were pushed out of her face but still left to fall down her back. She had on a light amount of black eyeliner, a light amount of black mascara, soft pink eyeshadow, and nude lip gloss.
Betty smiled and gave Jughead a peck on the lips. "Thank you, Jughead."
Jughead walked towards the limo. Betty walked beside him. He held the door open and took her by the hand, helping her get in the backseat.
Toni's jaw dropped when she saw Cheryl walking towards her. "Wow. You look beautiful."
Cheryl was wearing red high-heeled sandals and a red dress with spaghetti straps, a v-neck, and a floor-length skirt with a slit in the right side that reached the middle of the thigh and revealed her right leg. The neckline showed a hint of cleavage. A small silver chain with a tiny diamond hung low on her chest. Her long red hair was styled in barrel curls. The curls were pushed out of her face but still left to fall down her back. She had on a light amount of black eyeliner, a light amount of black mascara, and soft pink eyeshadow. Her lips were cherry red.
Cheryl smiled and gave Toni a peck on the lips. "Thank you, Toni."
Toni and Cheryl walked towards the limo. Toni held the door open and took Cheryl by the hand, helping her get in the backseat.
When Sweet Pea saw Hannah walking towards him, his jaw dropped. "Wow. You look amazing."
Hannah was wearing green high-heeled sandals and a green dress with a v-neck, two spaghetti straps criss-crossing over the open back, and a floor-length skirt. The neckline showed a hint of cleavage. The sides of the dress were cut out, exposing a teasing fraction of skin. Her Serpent tattoo was on full display. Her long brown hair was styled in loose curls. The curls were pushed out of her face but still left to fall down her back. She had on a light amount of black eyeliner, a light amount of black mascara, and soft brown eyeshadow. Her lip balm was a pretty peach colour.
Hannah smiled and gave Sweet Pea a peck on the lips. "Thank you, Sweet Pea."
Sweet Pea walked towards the limo. Hannah walked beside him. He held the door open and took her by the hand, helping her get in the backseat.
When Fangs saw Emma walking towards him, his jaw dropped. "Wow. You look gorgeous."
Emma was tall and slender with fair skin and blue eyes. She was wearing lavender high-heeled sandals and a strapless lavender dress with a sweetheart neckline, an open back, and a floor-length skirt that flared at the hips with a small train. The neckline showed a hint of cleavage. Her long brown hair was styled in barrel curls. The curls were pushed out of her face but still left to fall down her back. She had on a light amount of black eyeliner, a light amount of black mascara, and soft pink eyeshadow. Her lip balm was a pretty coral pink colour.
Emma smiled and gave Fangs a peck on the lips. "Thank you, Fangs."
Fangs walked towards the limo. Emma walked beside him. He held the door open and took her by the hand, helping her get in the backseat.
The limo drove down the road.

2:00 p.m.
It was graduation day.
The ceremony was being held in the auditorium. The graduates were sitting in the first row. They were clad in blue graduation gowns and blue graduation caps with gold tassels. The guests were sitting a little farther back.
Betty was the valedictorian. She walked up to the podium and gave a speech.
"Have you ever read a good book or a good story, and when you're on the final chapter and the final page, you feel a sadness you can't explain?"
"Sometimes, if you're lucky, the story or book will have an epilogue or a sequel. I stand here before you, my fellow graduates, to tell you that although this chapter in our lives has ended, the story is far from over."
"We are all still so young. We have time to fall in and out of love and to make mistakes. We still have the opportunity to fail and succeed and to change our minds like we change our clothes. There are tears of sadness running down some of your faces. Why? This isn't the end. This is the beginning of something amazing."
"For some of you, maybe it's college. Maybe it's your dream job. Maybe it's getting married and starting a family. Or maybe it's finally accepting who you are and not being afraid of who you could turn out to be."
"Just promise me one thing. Don't forget what these past few years have brought to your life. Don't forget about the people that taught you all about friendship, bravery, and courage. Don't forget about the smiles and frowns, the laughter and tears, and the breakups and makeups. Don't run from your mistakes. Learn from them and embrace them. I wish you all the happiness in the world. I can't think of a group of people that deserve it more."
Thunderous applause followed Betty's speech.
Betty returned to her seat.
Principal Weatherbee announced that diplomas were going to be handed out. He started calling names.

My baby
Fangs fogarty
A/N: I feel like fangs is underrated but aren't all serpents. They all deserve some love. They all work hard. So here is a Fangs Fogarty imagine for you all.
Warning: swearing
_______________________
I walk down through the school looking at my phone. I put my phone back into my pocket and hold onto the straps of my back. I walk down through the hallway and saw multiple girls run past everyone to leave. When I opened the door I saw a whole group of girls standing together. I decided to be nosy and walk through the group of girls and cameras.
I got through the crowd and stumbled forward a little.
"Hey Y/N." I look up and saw the most cutest guy on earth. My boyfriend fangs sitting on his motorcycle that he cherished.
"Fangs!" I run up to him and hugged him.
"I got you something." He grabbed out his pocket and pulled out a small red box of chocolates and from the inside of his jacket he had a one red rose.
"Oh my gosh." He gives them with a kiss on the forehead.
"Babe I love the rose but I cant keep them.  My mum is allergic to them." He nods and I look around. I see one of the guys is my class just about to get in to his car.
"Nathan!" He stops and I run to him.
"Hear give this to you mother." He nods and thanks me. I leave to go back to fangs. We drive off to his tralier. We cuddled and watched any movie from The notebook to fast and furious.
________________________
I walk through the halls with fangs serpent jacket on since he couldn't wear it to school. I loved because it felt like he was here with me since I can't see him every day. I live in Greens Dale and he lives in Riverdale.
"Nice jacket Y/N. Did that so called boyfriend of yours give it to you or did you pay him?" Quinn bellowed with a smug look on her face. Quick background. She was like Regina George in Means girl. The queen bee and I hated her so much. She puts down others just to make her feel good.
"He gave it Quinn. You see I have a boyfriend who loves me for my personality and not for looks."
"Well your right there. The only thing good going for you is your personality but Ive heard you can be quite the two faced bitch. Anyways why would he want to date you without getting something something in return?" She flips her hair and walks away with her minions. I didn't think it would bother me but it really did. My friends tried to convince me what she said was just to get to me.
"She only wants you to feel bad is because she wants to fuck him. Leave no guy untouched. That is what she goes by. Plus he wouldn't do that."
"But what if he-"
"She is just trying to get to you. Don't believe a word she says." I tried to think by her words but it didn't help.
Would he do that? Would he only date me to get something in return for himself. I decided to find out myself. I walked out of school mid-day not caring about the yelling of a teacher. I ran home and stole my dad's motorcycle. One of the reasons my dad loves fangs. I rode all the way to riverdale and saw the school door open to two serpents. I could tell because they had their tattoos on there wrist.
"Hey you two! Have you seen a guy named fangs?" They nod and point inside. I walked in not caring about the looks I got. I forgot I was wearing my cheer outfit. I walked to their student lounge and their he was seating with his friends.
"Y/N? What are doing here?" He stood up and looked at me.
"Do you love me?" I asked looking at him.
"Yes why are you asking that?" He walked to me and we went to the girls changing room since it was empty.
"Why do you love me?"
"Why are you-"
"Why do you love me fangs?!"
"Because you make feel like a actually person and not some scum from the Southside like every northsider in this school thinks I am. You don't hate me for being a serpent. You don't change your behaviour around me. Your not someone else then be a completely different person to everyone else. You make me smile when I feel the world is on top of me. If that isn't enough then let this convince you." He smashed his lips on mine and leans on the locker behind me with on hand and the other around my waist. I wrapped my arms around his neck.
"So do you now know I'm in love with you?" I nod and he smiles.
"Fangs you didn't tell me you had a girlfriend. I'm sweet pea." A tall serpent with a turtle neck on said. Fangs stands up and let's me see them.
"I'm Toni." Girl with bright pink and brown hair said.
"I'm Y/N nice to meet you." I smile at them and I left Riverdale to explain to my father why I took his motorcycle.

COVID-19 in the courtroom: How the coronavirus affected Matthew Raymond’s murder trial
It was the first jury selected during the COVID-19 pandemic in Canada.
It was during a fitness hearing in August when a jury of seven women and five men were chosen and it was later ruled 50-year-old Matthew Vincent Raymond was fit to stand trial.
That ruling came two years -- almost to the day -- of the events that took place on a sunny Friday morning in a Fredericton northside neighbourhood.
Four people -- a personal support worker, a musician and two police officers -- were killed on Aug. 10, 2018, when Raymond opened fire from the window of his apartment. That was an agreed statement of fact between all parties on the first day of the trial.
Those 12 people were asked to remain as the jury during the criminal trial. It took place two-and-a-half blocks from Fredericton’s usual courthouse, at the city’s convention centre, where a ballroom that usually hosts the State of the Province event was turned into a large, physically-distanced courtroom.
Only media and family members of the victims were allowed to watch the proceedings over the last 10 weeks. The risk of opening to the members of the public was too great, according to the regional director of court services.
“There’s a number of court participants that must appear in court,” said Ross Gorman in October. “To afford those that would be just nice to be in court, and possibly infect those who have to be there, would be in our respective opinion, counterproductive.”
A physically-distanced makeshift 'gallery' is seen at the Fredericton Convention Centre, where Matthew Raymond's first-degree murder trial was held during the COVID-19 pandemic. (Laura Brown/CTV Atlantic)
Sitting in that ballroom, six feet from other media outlets and family members, became normal as the trial got underway. But there were moments when COVID-19 had its impact.
She wasn’t supposed to be the second person to take the stand, but Ceilidh Bowen -- a paramedic student at the time of the shooting who rode in the ambulance that took Raymond to hospital -- had to self-isolate for two weeks before entering the courtroom. Now working in Ontario, she was in New Brunswick the first week of September, and her flight back was booked for Sept. 23, at 1:20pm.
But there was a week-long delay in the trial, at which time the defence applied for a mistrial. That application was denied in the end, but it meant Bowen’s testimony had to be moved up.
Then, a juror had to be tested for COVID-19. Then, defence lawyer Nathan Gorham also had to be tested. And then, another lawyer. All three tests came back negative, but each time, it cost the court a short delay.
“Having just the regular run-of-the-mill cold would mean that it would put the entire trial on hold. There was a level of anxiety that existed because of that,” said Gorham.
He also said the novel coronavirus added a layer of bureaucracy when calling witnesses from outside the province.
Some of those witnesses couldn’t afford to spend two weeks self-isolating before their testimony. So, Worksafe NB and Public Health established guidelines for how they would get to the province, and how people would communicate and interact with them while they were there.
“Although it’s fairly simple and straight forward on paper, sometimes it got very difficult to maintain it when it was actually happening,” Gorham said.
“For instance, there were requirements that the person had an escort coming and going from the room and coming and going from the airport. And just the logistics of a trial with all the things that are going on, makes it difficult to have that set and in place and maintained throughout.”
Between each of the 44 witnesses, the stand had to be cleaned. One of the witnesses, who also came from Ontario, was seated in the gallery while they waited to testify. Instead of a six-foot radius, court staff built a 10-foot one around their chair.
“We’re figuring it out, as it plays out, on a day-by-day basis,” said Gorman.
When the number of cases started to rise in the province in October, Gorham and his co-counsel, Breana Vandebeek, said they lost access to visit their client in person.
But they say sheriffs, jail and court staff were “very understanding” and worked to ensure there wasn’t a long disruption.
“If there’s a better way to do it, then it escapes me,” Gorham said.
Fredericton’s Court of Queen’s Bench was moved to the Convention Centre in the spring.
When it was first moved, Justice Terrence Morrison, who presided over Dennis Oland’s retrial, said any jury trial could not go ahead in the original courthouse during the pandemic.
“Social distancing makes conducting a jury trial at the Justice building on Queen Street absolutely impossible,” he said. “Not only could you not social distance in the courtroom itself, but the jury room facilities … they’re inadequate even as they are now. It would be impossible. You couldn’t ask a jury to go in that room given COVID-19.”
According to the New Brunswick Department of Justice, the province has an agreement with the Fredericton Convention Centre to continue court services at the centre until Dec. 31. After that?
“We are in dialogue with the city on extending the lease. We have nothing further to announce at this time,” said a department spokesperson.
Crown prosecutors in the Raymond case, Darlene Blunston and Jill Knee, were approached for a comment on this story, but did not respond.
