Can I ask what TLSQ do you think is the worst? And the best for you? I would love to know how you categorize the TLSQs to worse and best (or viceversa).
If I made no mistakes, there are 43 TLSQs at the beginning of November 2021.
It includes 5 dating TLSQs (I don’t count the Celestial Ball), 4 Quidditch TLSQs, and 3 Clubs TLSQs. I don’t really have much interest in those, so they’re kind of disqualified by default.
It leaves us with 31 TLSQs. I’m not gonna rank every single one of them, but I’ll choose the worst and the best, and I’ll try to somewhat organise the rest. Also, it ended up being pretty long – sorry for that!
The worst TLSQs
1) The Hallowe’en Feast TLSQ (the very first Halloween side quest)
I was thinking about it for a while, but I decided that this quest is still the worst of the worst for me. It was the first quest when I was like: “Wow, it’s really bad”. Don’t get me wrong, I liked Chiara in there, and dealing with Cecil was actually quite funny, but the rest? Oh, boy…
First of all, I hate the idea that the first-year MC was fighting Fenrir Greyback – and fucking won. I get that MC is often a bit overpowered, especially in TLSQs, but this is just too much for me. Also, the werewolves in this quest? What the actual fuck? Greyback’s cronies were acting as his bodyguards while in his werewolf forms. Even if they took Wolfsbane Potions, I doubt they could behave so human-like. Also also, why the hell Greyback wasn’t transformed when his bodyguards were? The first time, he didn’t transform at all, and by the end, he CHOSE when to transform to be more dramatic? Just… no. Just no.
And you know, it’s not like Jam City didn’t try with this quest at all. For example, that werewolf puppy thing is not a common HP trivia knowledge. They had to do some research to create Borf. So, why they didn’t put a little more effort into realising how werewolves work in general?
Also also, I think we can agree that nobody really needed to learn or be reminded that when two werewolves fuck, a human woman might give birth to a wolf puppy ninth months later. Seriously, Borf could’ve been a regular wolf puppy. Like, why Jam City spent time writing this backstory for Borf, but they didn’t realise that Greyback would transform at the same time as his bodyguards?
Even the relationship between Penny and Chiara is problematic here. I mean, I actually like this plotline, but I also have to point out that Penny’s friend in our Y1 was still alive, so: 1) Penny had no reason to be this scared of werewolves, 2) Penny couldn’t tell MC about her friend dying – yet, I’m actually pretty sure that Penny has this line even if you play the quest in Y1! Moreover, if you completed “Penny For Your Thought” SQ and made Penny drink the Forgetfulness Potion – she shouldn’t talk about Scarlet’s death either!
I’m sorry, but there are simply too many things that bother me about this quest. I guess it also left a bigger impact on my mind because as I said, this was the first time I was really like: “It’s bad, and I hate it”.
2) The Rise of a Curse-Breaker TLSQ (with the Leviosa Kid)
First of all, all the jokes with the Leviosa Kid were way too dragged and stopped being funny long ago. But for some reason, Jam City decided that it’s the best moment for his individual quest… *sigh*
This quest was simply stupid. I hate the idea that nobody remembers his name after six years of school. By the way, “Wilfred Levi Kidd” is a pretty disappointing name. Also, there’s no fucking way that a student who can’t cast Wingardium Leviosa would pass the O.W.L.s and be allowed to attend classes in Y6. No. Just no.
Also, I hate how stupid all of the characters were in this story. I’m sorry, but those riddles really weren’t that hard. Watching how they couldn’t figure out that Gryffindor colours are red and gold was particularly painful.
3) The Quibbler TLSQ
Chiara’s presence in this quest was a misunderstanding. We know from the main story that she’s not particularly sceptical, she likes Divination, she enjoys The Quibbler etc. Also, her motivation to try to win the prize didn’t make sense. She told us that Dumbledore can’t help her every month – which would make sense if the ingredients were hard to get. But that’s not the case because Chiara is happy that she’ll get them as soon as she gets the money. In other words, the quest wants us to believe that Dumbledore didn’t want to give Chiara money or he didn’t have any – which is bullshit. And even if you want to believe that Albus would be a scumbag like that, we saw in the “Lone Wolf” TLSQ that Snape cares about Chiara a lot, so he would give her money. Hell, Snape would buy the ingredients himself, brew the Potion and deliver it to Chiara.
Moreover, I believe that Jam City decided to demonise Ismelda only to have a scapegoat, and so people wouldn’t pay attention to the fact that Chiara’s presence in this quest doesn’t make any sense. And nobody will be doing my girl Ismelda dirty like that without consequences – so, here’s your place among the worst TLSQs.
4) Torvus & The Troubled Forest TLSQ
I kind of had a problem with placing this one because to be completely honest… I don’t think that this story on its own is that bad. I actually quite like stories involving the butterfly effect, so I imagine that I could really enjoy it.
However, the problem is that this quest was released way too late. A lot of the players were in Y7, so many of them didn’t care about the Forest Vault anymore. Also, a lot of the plot points didn’t even make sense when you consider the time that had passed. For example, there’s a moment where we find the plants stumped by the sleepwalkers, right? Cool. The problem is that they would decay completely after over two years. And sadly, the narrative insists that it does happen in Y7 (if you’re in Y7, of course). And I was like… just tell us openly that we “went back in time”. Give us clear information: “Hey! It happens at the end of Y4! So, just pretend that, ok?”.
Of course, another problem is also with Torvus himself. He agreed to help us back in Y4, so he should’ve taken responsibility for his actions as well.
5) Secrets of Godric’s Hollow TLSQ
I talked about it quite recently, so I’ll try to keep this one short. Basically, it followed no logic. Why we care that Merula stealing the Sword would ruin the feast? How stealing it before her is a good idea? How we travel to Godric’s Hollow? Why we can’t take one book at a time, but we waste time on helping Madam Pince instead? Why Ragnuk is bothered by his legacy fading when there are multiple books about him and it’s well-known that he’s the one who created the Sword?
Just… no. Go to your room, Jam City, and think about your behaviour.
6) Lone Wolf TLSQ
I’m sorry for putting another Chiara’s quest on this list, but… I just have to. Overall, it wasn’t that bad. Although it was annoying how MC acted pretty clueless about Chiara being a werewolf. I know that the writers did it because of the players who didn’t know that Chiara is a werewolf at the time, but still, it just irked me.
That being said, the reason why I’m putting this quest here is actually Lupin. Frankly, I’m always confused when people get excited about him here because let me tell you something: Jam City did Remus Lupin dirty.
Remus Lupin knew how dangerous werewolves are without a Wolfsbane Potion. He knew that his friends had to become Animagi because werewolves are too dangerous for humans. Remus Lupin would never advise a 12-years-old MC to stay with Chiara because fucking power of friendship can defeat everything or whatever was supposed to be the message of that damn plotline. No. Just no. Get that out of here.
Dishonourable mention: Meet the Malfoys TLSQ
This is another one I had a problem with. Because the story on its own is again not that bad. Like, yeah, Draco stealing the wand, Dobby being blamed, Draco being scared of his dad… It does make sense. But my big problem with this quest is that it doesn’t belong to HPHM at all.
I could accept the reason behind Lucius’s visit, but the rest? The quest is placed in Y2, so Draco should be 5-year-old – he doesn’t act like 5. Dobby becoming our friend is absolutely ridiculous and takes away from Harry being the first person to treat him well. Also, what Jam City was smoking when they decided to put Dobby on our friendship list?
So, why it’s not higher on the list? Well, surprisingly, I’m actually not offended by this quest. But I think it’s because my brain simply doesn’t accept that it’s a part of the game. Like… it’s just so detached. As I said, it’s not even that it’s bad, or incredibly boring. It’s just… a weird case.
The best TLSQs
1) Grand Pranksters TLSQ
This is probably an unpopular choice for the best of the best, but that’s what I’m going with. Though, to be honest, I think this quest didn’t really get a fair chance, to begin with. First of all, it’s currently not available in the game, so many new players probably don’t even know about it. And secondly, when it was originally released, we were at the pranks arc in Y5 with the main story, and everyone was fed up with it, hence I feel a lot of people assumed from the start that it’s gonna be bad. But the thing is that this quest is not even about pranks, not really. I mean, it is, but we’re pranking Rita Skeeter, and messing with her is always a win in my book.
Seriously though, this quest deserves so much more love. The characters are absolutely great. It shows very well Tulip’s transformation from her: “I don’t deserve to have friends” to being a really good friend to both Tonks and MC, Tulip and Tonks are an amazing duo as always, even Ismelda has a really fun part, and I enjoyed it a lot. Oh yeah, and Filch’s involvement? Totally heart-warming.
Also, I like that it does involve the elements of the main story, but it’s really about being a teenager. I feel like TLSQs often forget about the reality of the main story and simply focus on silly shenanigans. Yet, I’d say that “Grand Pranksters” found a really good balance between those two things. As a result, the story is both embedded in the main plot but also feels light-hearted.
I simply had a lot of fun with this quest, and I recommend watching it on YouTube if you didn’t have a chance to complete it.
2) Flying Solo TLSQ
Let’s be real, Talbott’s friendship TLSQ was a great example of how a character-centric quest should look like. We basically had two stories there (with Merula and with the necklace), but the transition between them felt very cohesive. Also, the problems we faced didn’t feel forced or artificial at all (which is a serious problem in most of new TLSQs). I mean, yeah, it makes sense that Talbott was worried about Merula, considering that she’s a daughter of Death Eaters. And yeah, it makes sense that Filch thought that Talbott’s necklace might have something to do with Black Quills. And yeah, it does make sense that Mrs Norris would eventually try using it as a toy!
Obviously, the banter with Talbott is always great. But also, this quest actually has one of my favourite scenes in the whole game.
Also also, this one is the most subjective argument in the whole ranking, but I LOVE that this quest foreshadowed Rakepick’s white owl.
3) The Weird Sister! TLSQ
Now, I’ll tell it right away: I know this quest doesn’t make a lot of sense. But the way it was executed made it silly, yet not stupid – and I can totally take it. Seriously, it was simply a lot of fun, and I genuinely had a good laugh. And if you ever have a bit of free time, I highly recommend watching the video about this quest by Will Bits – his voice acting is absolutely amazing.
Also, while I generally don’t approve of placing information relevant for the main story in TLSQs, I do like the Black Quill appearing in this story.
4) The Gift of Gratitude TLSQ (last year Christmas story)
The best Christmas story, hands down. Hanging out with Charlie? Snape freaking out about Charlie’s well-being? The relationship between MC and Snape? MC and Charlie making a gift for Snape? Seriously, I felt so spoiled by this quest. Also, Hagrid? Very nice. Molly and Arthur vising Hogwarts? Very nice as well.
Honourable mention: Become a Prefect! TLSQ
I want to mention this quest because while it wasn’t really the most exciting, it was just… well-made. It was the very first TLSQ, so it probably helped a lot with placing it correctly in the main story. And yeah, it doesn’t really go with the books canon because students didn’t exactly actively try to become a Prefect (for example, Ron was totally shocked to see his badge), but I think that Jam City did a good job at translating it into their game.
Besides, the story was really pretty decent. As I said, it wasn’t thrilling – but there was some humour, some drama with Rowan… And it was nice that it had some House differences when it comes to the cast.
Now, for the rest…
All right, so I’ll try to categorise what’s left. Although this is more flexible and probably could change if I thought about it longer. Also, they’re assigned in the order they were being released.
Actually nice, but not my favourite: The Christmas Holidays TLSQ, Call to Knighthood TLSQ, The O.W.L.s TLSQ, The All-Wizard Tournament, Head Boys and Girls TLSQ.
Alright, but had some really stupid moments: Become an Animagus! TLSQ, The Celestial Ball TLSQ, Adventures in Curse-Breaking TLSQ (the Dragon Sanctuary), Portrait Panic TLSQ.
Alright, but kind of forgettable: Hagrid’s Birthday TLSQ, Magical Creatures Everywhere TLSQ, The Frog Choir TLSQ, The Beauxbatons TLSQ, A Teachers’ Celebration TLSQ, The Great Cook-Off TLSQ, A Scandal in Hogsmeade TLSQ.
Boring and forgettable: Duelling Deathday Parties TLSQ (Moaning Myrtle).
Ruined by JC shoving Merula down everyone’s throat: The Patronus TLSQ, A Very Weasley Christmas TLSQ.
I’m not gonna rank all of the regular side quests, but I have to mention two of my absolute favourites: the “Egg Hunt” SQ (unfortunately, currently removed from the game) and the “Crushed” SQ. I think that those stories are absolutely great, and they did a really good job character-wise.

Merula Snyde and the Letter from Someone
Tumblr media
To  Dear To  Merula,
The sound of scrunching up paper is heard, followed by a quiet thump as the ball of scrap is thrown into the bin.
 Merula,
I don’t know if this’ll get to you before Christmas, but I wanted to send this to you anyway as a present. In the parcel is a Walkman, which allows you to listen to music wherever you want, as well as a tape with some of my favourite songs on it. Also in there is a list of all the corridors and areas I managed to charm so they could allow muggle devices to work (I don’t know if it’ll work in the Dungeons- Snape caught me while I was doing the spell and told me to leave - sorry.)
I hope you’re having an okay time, I imagine the castle is a fair bit quieter now, which should be nice. I know that Chiara and Talbott are staying at Hogwarts over the summer, and so maybe it would be nice to spend time with them...well, maybe with Chiara, Talbott likes to keep to himself really.
Well,  The Celestial Ball was amazing, Merula, as I knew it would be from the moment I asked you to go with me. I know I’m not that good with words, which is sort of why I’ve sent you that tape. As crazy as it sounds, I couldn’t really see myself going with anyone other than you. I still enjoy our rivalry, of course, but I can’t deny how what happened there made me feel.
I can’t wait to see you again,
 Matthew.
 ***
Trembling pale hands with slightly faded nail varnish held the letter over a sofa, as their owner’s pink eyes read its contents. Then she read it again. And again. And a fourth time. Merula took a deep breath. Her mind was, to put it mildly, a bit of a mess right now. It was the day before Christmas Eve (Matthew had once called it Christmas Eve Eve, which even Merula found pretty funny) and she had been sitting in her room when the most evil-looking owl in history had flown into the Dungeons to deliver her a smallish parcel and a letter. She had been even more surprised to learn that this Owl belonged to Matthew Luther, who she had, as the letter reminded her, went with to the Celestial Ball just a week ago. Merula sighed. He’d written to her. He couldn’t wait to see her again. Merula didn’t notice herself giggling. She’d sat down in the corridor, with the walkman on her lap, and Matthew’s owl giving her the evil eye. She traced her finger over the final paragraph again, glad that nobody else was in the Common Room.
Suddenly, out of the corner of her eye, she noticed someone standing in the doorway in a purple hoodie. Merula’s eyes widened as Night Rhea merely grinned at her.
“Eep!” Merula exclaimed, clutching the letter close to her chest, “Wh-what is it?! What do you want?!”
Merula’s fear only grew at the sound of more Slytherins entering the common room. Night looked at Merula, at the letter, at Matthew’s Owl, and at the pink on her cheeks. Merula gulped as they grinned an almost sinister grin.
“Hey look! Matthew sent Merula something!” they exclaimed. At once there was a sound of “ooh!”s as the group moved into the Common Room. Merula recognised Cres Aragon, Ismelda, Liz and Barnaby in the crowd. Uh oh.
“Ooh Matthew’s written to you!” Cres exclaimed, stepping forward. “Told you he would.”
“I...” Merula began. She took a breath. She was not going to be dragged into one of these simpering gossip circles. “Of course he did. This is Matthew we’re talking about.” She looked over at Matthew’s owl, which squinted at her.
“I didn’t expect him to have such a cool owl.” Ismelda admitted. “Dark. Brooding. Evil. Like my soul.”
“Matthew sent you a letter?!” Barnaby asked, “What did he say? Was it about how you two-'' he stopped suddenly looking at Merula’s face. “...um, how you went to the Celestial Ball together?”
“None of your business!” she snapped. “What Luther may or may not have written to me about does not concern any of you!”
“I think it does, Snyde...” Night said, leaning forward. “In fact I - Expelliarmus!”
The letter went flying, and Night moved forward to catching, smirking as they succeeded. Turning to the others, and ignoring Merula’s pleas, they read over the letter. And smiled once again.
“Aww...what a romantic.” Night sighed, pretending to wipe away a tear. “You’ve found yourself a keeper, Snyde.”
Merula went a deep red. “I...uh...”
“Go on, Night, read it!” Cres said, sitting down in front of the large window overlooking the floor of the Lake.
Night looked at Merula. She didn’t seem to be enjoying this one bit. They sighed, and passed the letter back to Merula. “She can read it if she wants to.”
Merula nodded, taking the paper back. She looked around at the others, and sighed. “D-don’t tell anyone about this, ok?”
The group nodded. Merula sighed, and read Matthew’s words aloud. As she did, she found it very hard to keep her face in a scowl. By the time she had finished, she had a small but visible smile on her face.
The group instantly erupted into conversation.
“Way to go, Merula!” laughed Cres.
“Who’d have thought Matthew’d have it in him to write that?” Night pondered aloud.
“Hmph. Muggle music is...isn’t bad...” Ismelda admitted.
“Where’s this man meant to be walking to?” Barnaby asked, gazing at the strange device.
“So what are you going to say back?” Liz asked her, feeding the owl a treat from her pocket.
“N-None of your business, Lizard!” Merula snapped, “I..I...I dunno, okay! I’m not used to letter-writing, I...look, I wanted to just send him some chocolate or something, you know, but now he’s sent me this and...”
“Why don’t you just send a small message,” suggested Cres, “you could put it on the tag or something, couldn’t you?”
Merula grinned wildly for a moment, before racing off into the girls’ dormitories. When she returned, she had a christmas present with red wrapping, as well as a large owl following her. She put the present down on the table, and Merula’s owl sat beside Matthew’s, both immediately starting to stare each other down.
“Okaaay...” Merula began, Night noticing that she was using a pen, “What do I put?”
Barnaby raised an eyebrow. “You’re...asking us?”
“I thought you said it was ‘none of our business’, Merula...” sneered Ismelda. Merula ignored her.
“Okay…’Matthew’...’comma’” she muttered.
“Good start, Snyde.” chuckled Night.
“Hush, Rhea.” Merula snarled. “Where was I…’Thank-’”
“No, don’t start with the thank you, you’ll run out of things to say.” Liz said sagely.
“Fine. ‘The music is great. Thank you for the present and for your letter...’”without saying it aloud, she then wrote ‘I eagerly await your return to Hogwarts...it’s rather dull without you.’
“...Thanks again, Merula.” she finished, putting the pen back into her pocket. She then moved past Night over to her and Matthew’s owl.
“Just follow him, okay?” she asked. Her owl nodded. Matthew’s owl audibly scoffed at her, an impressive achievement for an owl. Merula then left with the two owls for the Owlery. When she got there, she was slightly surprised to see Talbott Winger there, feeding the owls.
“Can...I help you?” he asked, not looking away from the owls in front of him.
“I’m....just sending a letter to M-...to Luther,” she explained, wincing at her minor slip-up…”What about you?”
“Being alone...or at least I was.” Talbott sighed, getting up, “Is that a present for him?”
“None of your business, birdbrain!” Merula yelled, before looking down at the present. “...sorry. It’s just...I’m new to this, and want to go at my own pace, you know?”
Talbott stared at her, this other Merula which until now only Matthew and maybe Tulip had been able to see. “...he’s really started to rub off on you, you know that?”
Merula chuckled as the owls left with Matthew’s present in tow. She looked down at the walkman, put one headphone up to her ear, and pressed play. It worked.
“Yeah...” Merula said, as if just remembering then that Talbott was still there, “Maybe you’re right.”
(Night Rhea belongs to @night-rhea and Cres Aragon belongs to @cres-aragon !)

38 and 49 ethan and chiara 😊 from the i love u prompts
Dearest anon, thank you for the request and I am so sorry it took me so long. I truly hope you can still find this enjoyable.
Warnings: hurt/comfort, teeny tiny little bit of angst (maybe?), other than that just fluff
This is set in the time jump in Book 2 (after the gala)
Prompts: “I am not leaving you” & “If only you could see yourself the way I see you”
*** *** ***
It was 2:54 AM when the sharp sound of an incoming call interrupted Chiara’s already light sleep. All traces of it, however, disappeared the moment her phone started ringing, because nobody calls at three in the morning to tell you good news.
Cold sweat made her shiver and she felt like her heart skipped several beats when she noticed Ethan’s name on the display. What was happening? He was not working and he knew she wasn’t either. He would never call her knowing that she was sleeping if it wasn’t for something important.
Or serious.
“Ethan?” she picked up, holding her breath and biting her lip nervously. She was a second away from pacing her room.
“Chiara,” her name sounded like the most precious combination of letters that has ever been created in the moment.
There was no sign of panic or alarm in his voice as he breathed her name out, quite the opposite – was it relief? Could it be?
Why would it be?
“Are you okay?” they both asked at the same time.
Chiara decided to be the first to answer, as it became obvious that Ethan called her to make sure she was okay. She was beginning to understand what was going on and her heart dropped at the realization.
“Of course I am okay. I am at home, I was sleeping.”
The air around Ethan felt colder than he remembered from any other January in Boston and he wondered how big a part his feelings, his emotions, his state, played in the illusion?
It was not his most clever idea, to take a walk in the middle of the night. But the scotch was not working and he needed to escape his own mind - hoping to achieve that with the walk.
“I apologize for waking you up,” he said slowly and then, despite hating these moments of weakness, these moments that became more and more present in his life as of late, he dared to ask. “Could I come in?”
There was a long silence on the other side and he cursed under his breath, this was a terrible mistake, and then the door of her building opened and Chiara stood there, in her tank top and underwear, not caring that it was freezing, a sad smile on her lips.
Ethan stepped closer and he despised himself for being so uncertain, for hesitating before he reached out to her and cupped her cheek with his hand.
She took the hand and put a lingering kiss on his palm, the contrast between her soft and warm lips and his freezing skin so sharp he felt like the touch burned him.
It didn’t take him long to realize that he never wished to be burnt until now.
Without any words, Chiara interlaced their fingers together and led him into her apartment and then straight into her room, her expression soft and understanding and Ethan felt like a little boy that found his comfort and he hated that he needed to be comforted.
And he loved it too.
For a moment or two, Chiara felt the urge to ask him What happened? Are you okay? How long have you been freezing out there before calling me?, but she knew better now.
No matter how much Ethan hated to admit it – no, how much he avoided admitting it – under the mask of stoic, stable doctor, there was a man whose life was falling into pieces and he was failing to put them back together.
Chiara’s little encounter with death back in November was the first event that set Ethan off his axis and they both naively believed that it would be the only one, that they would get through it and life would go back to normal.
And then Luise crashed into Ethan’s life again.
And then the gala did not save Edenbrook and it was reaching its end.
Today, Ethan lost a patient. And it was the moment he insisted that Chiara spends her night in her apartment instead of his that she knew. She knew his night would be the one spent agonizing over what was, what is and most importantly, what will be. She knew that he would beat himself up for things he has no power over, but no matter how stubborn she was, Ethan managed to be more.
And so she left with Elijah after her shift and believed she would meet Ethan in the morning.
Just not three in the morning.
There was no point in asking him, because Chiara Ray knew exactly what was going on, just as she knew that Ethan was not okay.
She didn’t offer him a t-shirt as he took his clothes off, even though there were enough of his t-shirts in her room for him to pick up which one he would like to sleep in.
But Ethan hated sleeping in t-shirt almost as much as he hated talking about the emotions overriding him. And so Chiara didn’t offer him any and just quietly laid down next to him, putting her head on his chest.
“I am sorry for interrupting your night again,” Ethan whispered at last, his gaze pointed on the ceiling.
“I am glad you came,” Chiara smiled softly and put another gentle kiss on his chest, feeling his heart beat rapidly under her lips.
“We are going to be alright,” she spoke again after some time. “Not tonight and not tomorrow, but we are going to be alright one day. We are here and we are together and we are okay. I am not going anywhere, Ethan. I am not leaving you.”
His grip on her waist tightened, a silent acknowledgment of her words, a non-verbal thank you. It was all Ethan managed.
He knew her words were supposed to be soothing, that they had their purpose, a delightful lullaby of reassurance that should have brought sleep that was not marked by nightmares.
But just as Chiara knew without asking, Ethan knew exactly as much.
Ethan knew that her words carried more meaning that some sweet nothings whispered in the darkness of her room, Ethan knew that when Chiara says I am not leaving you, she means every single part of it.
And it scared him.
Did she realize how much was she putting into his arms? Did she realize the power she was giving him by promising to stay by his side?
The hospital was closing and what was he supposed to do? He cannot – he must not – jeopardize her career by expecting her to stay by his side, no matter what his next choice will be. She had the potential to blossom if only she could find the hospital that is worth her presence. And he cannot stop that.
Ethan could live with Chiara hating him for breaking her heart if it would mean that her career was as successful as it deserved to be. He cannot live with Chiara hating him for keeping her close and destroying her chances of becoming the diagnostician she aims to be.
What was he supposed to do?
“Stop doing it,” her soft, sleepy voice interrupted his thoughts and for a moment, he was confused.
“I haven’t done anything,” he defended himself, tilting his head slightly to have a better look at Chiara’s face – her eyes are still peacefully closed and hadn’t she spoken, he would think she was already back to sleep.
“You are spiraling. Analyzing your next steps, drowning in the sea of what if’s and what should’s and I know you think you need to break up with me in order to save my career.”
There was a long silence. Ethan wanted to ask how do you know?, but then he remembered it was Chiara he would be asking and so he didn’t.
In the months of knowing Ethan, Chiara was aware of the ways Ethan’s body responded to his anxiety. She could tell exactly how the fingers on his feet moved rapidly all the time and how a soft gasp left his mouth when an especially strong wave of uncertainty hit him.
“Don’t you ever dare to break up with me because you believe it would be better for me. I am capable of making my own decisions and I decided to be with you,” she went on, her voice sharper than she intended to. “We are not going to solve this whole situation overnight, but even in this moment I know that I want to be part of your life and I want you to be part of mine.”
There were so many things Ethan wanted to tell her. He wished to express his gratitude and he wished Chiara could feel how sorry he was for putting her through so much.
But words stuck in his throat and the only sentence that left him was not even on the list of those he wanted to say.
“I don’t deserve you,” he whispered.
Chiara let out a soft chuckle, the warm breath tickling Ethan’s ribs and despite everything, his lips twitched on the right side, a small smile forming on them.
“Life is hardly about what we deserve,” she whispered back. “Sometimes, we get more than we deserve and sometimes we get less. It is what it is.”
“I don’t think you don’t deserve me, though,” she added quickly, throwing a glance up only to find Ethan staring at her intently. “If only you could see yourself the way I see you,” she sighed but didn’t say anything else.
She didn’t need to, after all. Chiara was the first woman in Ethan’s life that never hesitated to let him know which parts of him she loved and for which she could tear his head off. He knew that in Chiara’s eyes, he was great. Worth love and worth happiness.
In her eyes, he was deserving.
There was another box of untouched thoughts in Ethan’s head and tonight, after he felt Chiara’s breaths getting steadier, he allowed himself to open the box.
Ethan was sure that there was no man, no woman, no person in this world that deserved Chiara. He was sure that Chiara was far too good for mere humans, with their flaws and their sins and their limits, to claim her as theirs.
He was more than sure that he was not deserving of her presence in his life.
But there she was, dedicated to stay, dedicated to show him the world the way she sees it. Dedicated to show him magic, because if Chiara was something, it was magical. Ethereal.
And in the chaos of his uncertainty, Ethan found out that there was one thought that he became certain of.
A frightening one, indeed. But certain.
He loved the woman.

HPHM MC Profile ✧
Indigo Silverwood
“ Getting near you is like stretching my hand into an open flame. I know I’ll burn myself, yet I crave the heat. ”
Tumblr media
Nicknames: Indie. Didi (only by family). Silverwood. Silvie (by people who don't bother learning her name).
Gender: Female.
Birthday: 6th of March, 1973.
Born: Edinburgh, Scotland.
Mother: Clarin (née Tramer) Silverwood - Half-blood, Ravenclaw, English.
Father: Palmer Silverwood - Pureblood, Slytherin, Scottish.
Siblings: Jacob Silverwood (b. 1968), Phoenix Nobleworth Silverwood (b. 1973) - Phoenix was adopted after the death of his parents when he was just a couple of months old.
Ethnicity: Scottish, English, (probably with some Spanish roots).
Sexuality: Straight.
MBTI Type: ENFP-A
Blood Status: Half-blood (by her muggle grandmother on her mother's side).
Hogwarts House: Gryffindor.
Appearance
Eyes: Naturally yellow/golden/amber (nobody knows why, since their parent’s eyes are brown) but both hers and Jacob's eyes are like this). She wears glasses for her Astigmatism.
Hair: Naturally dark brown, but she asked her mother to turn it red when she turned 8 and doesn't plan on undoing it any soon.
• She’s average tall and reasonably strong build, honey-brown skin littered with scars from venturing with the vaults and being freaking attacked by dark wizards, big hands and feet due to her height. A large chest that grows at once in her 4th year (”Everybody's starring, Rowan!”).
• She keeps her nails short. Her makeup is often down to just some lipstick (mascara smudges her glasses, eye shadow irritates her eyes), her hair is often long wavy and fluffed for extra volume. She often smells like coconut oil from all the creams her mother insisted she used.
• She looks a lot like her father which gives her a rather rough look - like a handsome but wild animal - yet has enough of her mother’s attributes to be considered attractive and poise if well-groomed.
Magical Aspects
1st Wand: Red Oak wood with Dragon Heartstring core, 12″, pliable. "The true match for a red oak wand is possessed of unusually fast reactions, making it a perfect dueling wand. Its ideal master is light of touch, quick-witted and adaptable, often the creator of distinctive spells, and a good person to have beside in a fight." Indigo had good times with her red oak wand but as the years went by, her emotions start affecting the wand's efficiency. The wand would bleed a glowing red light in moments of extreme physical or emotional pain and become extremely unstable.
2nd Wand: Beechwood with Thestral hair core, 13", rigid flexibility. "The true match for a beech wand will be, if young, wise beyond their years, and if full-grown, rich in understanding and experience. Beech wands perform very weakly for the narrow-minded and intolerant. When properly matched, the beech wand is capable of a subtlety and artistry rarely seen in any other wood, hence its lustrous reputation." Indigo has a hard time adapting to her new wand, it's stubborn to her spells and acts upon its own will especially considering its unusual and unstable core, Thestral hair, which is of unknown habilities, except for its use in the mythical, Elder wand. Her wand is one of a kind which is why she has to adapt her abilities to match the wand's requirements. Despite all, it's a remarkable instrument for undoing curses/spells and detecting danger.
Animagus: Somali cat. She's already certain she wants to be a cat animagus - harmless, of easy blend, and enables an approach to humans -, but decides for the Somali breed, during the process, for its sumptuous golden fur and agility.
Patronus: Kangaroo, for its fighting spirit and family values, not to mention its strength. (In-game it's the Abraxan, but only because I thought it would be cool.)
Patronus memory: (During the first times) Her first Quidditch match, not just because they won but because everyone she loves from Hogwarts was there, and she got to cheer their victory together. (Later years) Her family gathering for hot cocoa during a rainy night with Jacob with them.
Abilities: Legilimency, and great emotional influence over magic (Don't get her frightened or angry or she will blow you up).
Boggart:  Her boggart changes constantly - she can't decide if it's either because she overcame the old fears, or if the new ones toppled those, creating a pile of fears. And since the new DADA teacher is always teaching Riddikulus again and again, the famous curse-breaker is always the most awaited in the line.
Jacob, eyes dark and musty, clothes covered in blood, someone's blood. He walks to her and slowly raises his sleeve, the Death mark is craved deep in his flesh and it glows. Behind him, it rises the Dark Lord.
Riddikulus: He turns into a younger version of himself from a photograph she recalls laughing about with her mom (he's running wearing a loaded diaper, crazy hair, rosy cheeks).
For a while is someone in a cloak threatening to cast the killing curse over her friends, whispering each of their names like a snake but she's frozen unable to stop them.
Riddikulus: The cloak falls to reveal a bunch of gnomes piled up wearing wigs and makeup.
For another, very realistic corpses of all of her friends spread at her feet, a dark wizard across from her, it's over and there isn't anything she can do to save them anymore - it was a grim day in DADA, but they all wanted to see it didn't they?
Riddikulus: This is the one time she fails to defeat a boggart, letting the horrible scene consume her, she falls to her knees defeated, and even after Rakepick's shouting, when she tries to cast the spell, it fails again and again.
This last boggart came to show everyone around her how truly terrified she was, not for her own life, but for that of those around her. How despite the confidence she was constantly displaying, in reality, she was afraid she couldn't save them from whatever was trying to get her.
Amortentia: Her Amortentia smells like Jacob's cologne — which he used to borrow from their father which is why she recalls so easily —, fresh Catnip ever since she became an animagus, bakings just out of the oven — extra intensity if there's chocolate involved, and freshly washed sweaters (from hugging Barney and the Weasleys).
Mirror of Erised: She's under the shadow of a tree, Jacob on one side along with Phoenix and Aspen, Barnaby's head resting on her lap, Rowan by her side, and Orion for some reason. They're laughing and reading books, it's an eternal spring afternoon.
Miscellaneous
Pets: A Sphynx cat, Mocca, a brown and white rat, Franccesca, and (later in her Hogwarts years) a Great Horned owlet, Plum.
Things she always carries with her: Her wand (duh), a handmade Gryffindor bracelet that used to belong to Jacob, the Handbook of Magical Theory, a handful of peppermints, a pouch with some money, a flask of Wideye potion, some Murtlap Essence, and a family photo during Christmas of 1980.
Lucky Amulets: She has a dream catcher made by Phoenix from feathers he shed during transformations and a "broken" knight from Murphy's chessboard who decided to leave the game for good and now sleeps on Indigo's nightstand with its horse, she likes stroking the horse the night before every Quidditch match
Best Friends
Her brother, Phoenix, takes the crown in matter of importance because, well, they're siblings who grew up practically like twins, but their relationship deserves their own detailing.
Rowan has got to be the first. Not only they share the same adventurous nerdy spirit, but Rowan also is the one to stick around even when everything is dark and uncertain and Indigo's popularity plummets. Indigo is always excited to hear whatever Rowan has to say - most times about books or Bill Weasley - and she's rarely fazed by the weird things Rowan does.
Murphy McNully is a close second, having officially met in the middle of her second year, they're both still fresh in a matter of friendships which allows them to open up, both in desperate need of company and support. He's often a companion in the girl's library and common room study sessions and sits with them during meals.
Charlie Weasley has her heart and soul from the moment they first speak during year one, but it actually takes a while until they form any real bond, which begins after he finds out she has been seeking his brother's help to search for the cursed vaults.
Ben is a friend she cherishes deeply but often finds it hard to break through his protective shell which makes him feel distant even when he opens up to her. Unlike her friends, she grows more liking towards Ben after he has his change in personality, as he feels more open about himself.
Chiara is a friend she deeply appreciates for her courage in reaching out for her help in times of need and trusting her with her secret. In Marauder fashion, she likes keeping an eye on her on the nights of full moon - which is good to train her cat tree climbing. They often have afternoon tea together and she teaches Indigo useful healing spells.
Andre and Indigo didn't have a great start, as she thought of him as arrogant and inconsiderate, and he thought she was careless and selfish. But when she helps him with a transfiguration mishap during their 3rd year when he was trying to be creative - and the reason he now has a two-headed cat - they start opening up to each other and begin a friendship. He's a good friend to confide in about the mundane aspects of her life and Quidditch intrigues.
Orion means to her more than she can put into words. Not only he is her team captain, but also a dear friend whom she turns to in times of emotional instability cause she knows he'll be the one to successfully help her clear her mind. They enjoy each other's company even if they don't have anything interesting to say. They sit together during every Divination class for as long as the subject goes.
She has no "rivals" as she finds that sort of labeling quite petty, but would definitely punch Emily Tyler on the stomach and perhaps Face Paint kid for all his eavesdropping.
She has an easier time bonding with her fellow Gryffindors since they spend most of their time together in classes, lunch, and hanging around in the common room.
Dormmates: She and Rowan got placed in a room for three people, as the ones for five were already full, along with a girl called Tanya. But at the beginning of their 4th year, they find out she has bailed out to another dorm room claiming they 1. Snort and speak in their sleep on a regular basis, 2. Will eventually endanger her with their cursed vault shenanigans, 3. Will get her killed - which, spoilers, actually happens, oops. So they basically have the dorm for themselves.
Academics
Favorite Classes:
Potions
Flying
DADA
Magical Theory
Least Favorite:
Transfiguration
History of Magic
Arithmancy
Favorite Professor: Kettleburn. Despite CoMC not being on her top favorite subjects, she enjoys her time in his classes and reminds her of her grandfather on her father's side who's a highlander wizard.
Least Favorite: Binns. Just retire you old man!
Quidditch Position: Chaser. Despite enjoying her time as Gryffindor's beater, she notices the position takes a toll on her physical wellbeing, having to carry a heavy bat and being injured by bludgers more times than she can keep track of. So she returns to her chaser position after a year.
Favorite Team: Montrose Magpies. She never had an interest in Quidditch before she began playing but decided to pick a team to support. Of course, it had to be a Scottish team and settles for MM because of professor McGonagall who's also a supporter.
She's not indigo's face claim, but it's hard to find good red-haired characters out there.
Tumblr media
I guess I'll leave her background and history for another post since it interweaves very tightly with her sibling. And since I'm still exploring her story.
Well this is just an intro to my beloved MC

Penny Haywood x MC- Come with me (1/4)
Game: Harry Potter Hogwarts Mystery
____________________
The time for the holidays was approaching Hogwarts. The colorful lights and gentle snowfall made paved the way for the most peaceful time of the year
A time when there was no such thing as an enemy and tensions were indeed at an all-time low
This would be an ideal time to celebrate and surround yourself with loved ones, but after a brutal sixth year, festive wouldn't be a way to describe how Y/N was feeling
It was so hard to believe that it was over, that after... everything, they were free. However, it didn't feel like a victory
In fact, it didn't feel like anything. Even Beatrice wasn't as gloom
This behavior did not go unnoticed, however. Across the Great Hall, while the Curse-Breaker was staring at their giant sandwich, their friends were plotting
Well, at least the ones who hadn't left for Christmas yet
Tulip, Liz, Tonks, and Penny were waiting on Chiara, who was holding a plate with barely eaten food
"They didn't even eat. They just took a bite to not make me feel bad..."
The silver-haired girl sighed, earning sympathy from the girls, except for Penny, who was looking back at them
Not many students were left, but Y/N was so lost in thought that they didn't notice the girls
"This isn't good. Y/N has been as lonely as Talbot"
"...Who?" Tonks asked
"The point is, there has to be something we can do to help them"
"I tried cheering them up with Puffskeins, but Y/N just ended up falling asleep..." Liz sighed in defeat
"Have you tried taking them to Hogsmeade?" Tulip suggested to Penny
"Yes, but they didn't want to go. Said there were too many memories"
There was silence after that, at least until more ideas brewed
Y/N went through unimaginable lengths to protect their friends and even ensure their happiness. After everything that happened with Rakepick and the Vaults, it was only fair that they got some of that as well
The girls were devastated to know that wasn't the case, and they made it their mission to correct it immediately
Unfortunately, every attempt at improving their friend's mood had failed, and with Christmas approaching, time was running out
Unless...
"Wait, you said Hogsmeade brought Y/N bad memories?"
Penny nodded at the question, curious to see what Tonks had come up with
"Why not take Y/N somewhere else? Maybe a change of scenery would help them"
"Brilliant idea, Tonks! It could do wonders for their health if the environment is right"
Chiara's comment earned a proud smile from the methamorphmagus, at least until Liz came in with another question
"But where would it be ideal for that?"
With her hand on her chin, looking around for an answer. Her blue eyes eventually landed on the Christmas tree that was decorating the place
That's when she got a fragment of what could be an idea. She just needed a bit more intimation
"Where are you going on Christmas?"
The girls seemed to pick up on this idea, but their reactions didn't help much
"Y/N L/N is one of my best friends, I wouldn't let them anywhere near my parents"
With Tulip's parents working for the Ministry and Y/N being...well, Y/N, it only made sense
" I'm staying to help Hagrid look after the creatures"
Liz's statement made Chiara look at her with surprise
"And I will learn from Madam Pomfrey. Maybe we can get together for lunch!"
The silver-haired girl smiled at the idea as soon as she heard it
"I'd love that!"
The girls' excitement only made Penny worry, seeing as her options were running out. But that's when she thought about what she'd be doing in the holidays
Visiting the countryside, away from conflict and just near family and friends from a nearby village
"Then I'll ask Y/N to come with me for the holidays!" She thought out loud, gaining the attention of her friends
"You sure your parents would let you?"
"I'll send them an owl to ask them. Hopefully, they'll say yes"
Shortly after that, her gaze shifted to the student at the table
"But first, the guest of honor"
Without further due she approached Y/N and sat in front of them, her presence making then snap out of it
"Oh. Hey, Penny"
She returned the greeting with a smile
"Hi, Y/N. How are you today?"
"I'm holding up. I thought you'd be going with your family for Christmas"
This provided Penny the opportunity she was looking for, and she wouldn't waste it
"Actually, that's what I came here to talk about"
The suspense that accompanied that statement made Y/N look at her with concerned eyes
"Is everything alright?"
The Hufflepuff picked up on this and gently smiled at them
"Oh yes, don't worry about it. See, I was thinking..."
A sigh left her soft lips before she finally allowed herself to be as honest as she could with Y/N, or at least enough to proceed
"You've done far too much for us, especially this year, and while it has been difficult, it's been even worse for you"
"That's...a way to describe it, yes"
"But you deserve to enjoy this breath of fresh air, Y/N, and I was wondering if you..."
If she had their attention, now she also counted with their curiosity
"Yes?"
Her blue eyes met their e/c eyes as she finally asked what she came there to know
"If you'd like to come to the countryside with me for the holidays"
Penny waited for Y/N to politely decline the invitation as they would probably do given their mood
However, something that the young lady didn't account for was that talking to her would always help to cheer them up, even now
So rather than declining such an offer, Y/N showed surprise
"Really? You want me to go with you?"
Their reaction was as if they had forgotten just how much they meant to Penny, but seeing this change in behavior gave her the boost she needed to continue
"Of course! There's nobody else I'd rather spend them with"
She could tell that the curse-breaker was moved by her words, but also that they were seriously considering her offer. It was only a minute, but it felt like an eternity to the blonde witch
"Well, I could use the scenery change"
There she was, the confirmation she needed to get started. Penny got up and flashed one of the brightest smiles Y/N had ever seen
Not literally of course, but he had to be dead for it not to be heartwarming
"Brilliant! I'll send an owl to my parents to tell them about it. I'll tell you when we're leaving and...Y/N?"
"Yes?"
"Thank you for giving me this opportunity"
Without further due, she left the Great Hall and headed straight to her Common Room so she could write a letter asking her parents if Y/N could indeed tag along
Penny would explain that they were responsible for saving Hogwarts on multiple occasions, including the Haywood sisters themselves and also the fact that they didn't quite deserve to spend such a gloomy Christmas by themselves
The owl left as soon as she delivered the letter. Fortunately, the weather was calm enough for it to fly normally and there weren't as many letters going around
It took a day for Penny to receive an answer, and what she saw made her squeal with overwhelming joy. Y/N would spend the holidays with them
For Y/N it might be just a change of scenery, but for her? It was all she wanted
To spend the best time of her year surrounded by the people she loved the most, no exceptions
And so, she went to find Y/N and tell them that the time to leave was near...after eating breakfast, of course
They all ate together and wished Y/N a pleasant trip. One could tell that more than saddened by their departure, they were glad they were taking their time
Except for Alanza, she wouldn't let go, literally. Even if she wouldn't admit it, that made Penny a bit jealous
Regardless, the Haywood sisters and Y/N found themselves walking into the Hogsmeade train station, with their baggage included
The plan was to take the train, get to a specific location where they'd meet Penny's parents, and from there continue with the holidays
Nothing Penny hadn't done many times before, so it wasn't all that complicated to follow
"I'm so glad you agreed to come with us, Y/N!"
"I think you'll find the countryside rather charming. Even I still enjoy it" Beatrice added
"Then I guess I really have to see it for myself"
"You'll love nature in there, it's so relaxing. There, let's find a seat!"
Penny grabbed Y/N's hand out of instinct as she guided them through the station, with Beatrice not far behind, chuckling at the sight of it
Plenty of things had taken place during their sixth year at Hogwarts, most of them dreadful, but one exception was Beatrice's relationship with both Penny and Y/N themselves
While still adjusting to her new self, she found comfort in the curse-breaker's company and help. Now she was ready to move on
And it showed, while they were all waiting for the train, the chatter was not gloomy or resentful, but rather charming instead
It even brought some semblance of normality
Something that seemed like such a rare commodity nowadays
Fortunately, they didn't have to wait long for the train to arrive. They had timed their arrival perfectly, which was a relief considering that the station's clock cannot be relied on
It didn't take long for them to find a place to sit while the journey began, Penny and Beatrice sat on one side and Y/N on the other. Regardless, the window provided a breathtaking view of the landscape
As if the mountains and fields weren't beautiful enough, the snow gave them a refreshing new look. That was perhaps the best thing about winter, it made everything look brand new, even if it was older than you
An hour and a half went by with nothing to report. A hint of orange had taken over the scene, reminiscing the colors of the past season in a gentle way
Beatrice fell asleep in no time, practically leaning on her sister, who was reviewing potion materials when she noticed this
"Hey Y/N? Do you mind if I sit with you?"
The curse-breaker, on the other hand, was reading a book that Madam Villanelle recommended for the long trip. They lowered the book to look at the blonde and immediately understood what she meant
And so, Y/N moved so that there was enough space for Penny. She wanted to give her sister more space to get some rest...and it was also the perfect excuse to scoot a bit closer
"Thanks!"
In a swift motion, the blonde gently laid her sister to rest and got up, switching seats so that she was now beside her other companion
Said companion found themselves unable to return to their book, as the light that made it through the window highlighted Penny's delicate features
From the way her braids were done, to the softness and color of her lips, and more importantly, her joyful attitude
Y/N found themselves lucky just to be witness to this, but it also came to them that so far, they hadn't said anything to the girl, they had just tagged along
Perhaps now would be the right time to correct that
"Penny?"
The delicate way her name left Y/N's lips got her attention in seconds, and when she saw them put away their book, Penny was genuinely intrigued
"Yes?"
They scratched the back of their neck as words failed to come out at first, but after a sigh, that was no longer a problem
"Thank you for taking me with you. I mean it"
She gave them a sympathetic smile, she knew why she was doing this and didn't feel like she was owed anything
"There's no need to thank me, I didn't want you to stay alone in the castle"
"I'm not precisely alone, but I get what you mean"
"You didn't have to do it"
This time, both of them shook off the nervousness
"But I wanted to. You saved Hogwarts, Y/N, but you also saved my word. I want to share it with you"
The curse-breaker didn't know how to answer that. Although their surprised expression and later smile said everything
Penny spared them of the silence and chose to continue, with a softer approach this time, and one closer to the truth as well
Her truth, of course
"Besides, I like spending time with you outside the school. Like that time we went to the dragon reserve"
Y/N chuckled at the memory of that "field trip", choosing to focus on the less lethal parts of it, but also going with the flow of the conversation
"That time when we roasted marshmallows together and slept in an oversized tent?"
"Exactly! But...less dangerous"
They laughed at this comment, taking the opportunity to go over the events of the last year together
Not only the dragon reserve but also getting to welcome Alanza to the school, the times they had snuck out together to investigate or just talk in the Courtyard
It wasn't a Celestial Ball or a tournament, but there was no denying those small moments
Of course, it had been a dark year, but it wasn't one without its lighter moments, and even if Y/N couldn't find enough of them, Penny would provide light, for both of them
This chatter lasted for at least another hour, soon, both of them returned to their respective books, smiling tiredly after making the journey much sweeter
But then, after a few minutes of reading, the Hufflepuff felt a gentle weight on her shoulder. Glancing over, she discovered the familiar h/c hair so close to her
Did...did Y/N just fall asleep on her shoulder?
Yes, yes they did
And they looked so peaceful as well
Penny found herself smiling fondly at this
" I could use a little rest..." She thought
Penny didn't think it twice before she closed her book, putting it to the side
Then, she got comfortable and snuggled closer to Y/N, allowing herself to cuddle up and just...close her eyes too

Patronus
The spring evening weather was just cool enough that (Y/N) wished she had grabbed a sweater on their way down to the Three Broomsticks. The sun had just set and the sky was darkening fast.
Bill would glance over at her every so often, occasionally practicing his ‘surprised face’ as he did so. She nodded at him to reassure him, though secretly she thought they were all terrible. It was a good thing indeed that Bill didn’t need to lie for a living.
To be fair, it was her and Charlie’s loud whispering that had given away the secret.
It suddenly made her incredibly worried that other times they had whispered could have been overheard. She tried to think if they had whispered anything too embarrassing, but couldn’t remember.
When they reached the Three Broomsticks, he took a moment to gather himself before they waltzed in.
The crowd roared just as she knew they would, Bill tried to look surprised just as she also knew he would, and nobody bought his ‘surprised face,’ just as she was sure they wouldn’t.
And there was Charlie, the ends of his hair falling out of his ponytail and into his face just as she always knew they did.
(Y/N) barely noticed when the party moved into full swing. Every member of the party seemingly needing to congratulate Bill personally. She heard Mr. and Mrs. Weasley talking about their other children at some point, who she already knew had apparently disappeared off to Zonko’s. She overheard Charlie, Barnaby, and Liz talking about magical creatures, Jae getting stopped by Rowan from sneaking out somewhere, and Talbott speaking in hushed tones with Chiara.
She was supposed to be happy. She was supposed to feel good. She knew she was. And yet, something in her chest scratched against something else and she found her hand massaging her chest, as though that could knead out the kinks in her heart.
When the feeling didn’t leave her, she felt the panic slowly rise, though she begged it not to, telling it what she knew in her mind, that everything was alright, the curse had been broken, and her friends were alright.
When it continued, she did the only thing she knew how to do when there was nothing to fight.
She ran.
Moving from the party, she smoothly weaved through the crowd until she had reached the door once again. Pushing it open, she used her last ounce of strength to dart out into the street.
The bang of the door clanged behind her and she just managed to breathe a sigh of relief at the fresh smell of a spring evening before loud laughing roared down the lane.
Sprinting to the side of the road, she caught sight of Nymphadora with four younger children, all of them carrying Zonko’s boxes. The shocking red hair on the three boys and young girl was enough to tell (Y/N) that these were Bill, Charlie, and Percy’s younger siblings.
Tonks and the four kids ducked into the pub and (Y/N) was both grateful and slightly disappointed somewhere in herself that they hadn’t noticed her.
Finding herself alone in the lane, she saw Hogsmeade dwellers coming down the road towards her.
All she knew was that she didn’t want to be observed by strangers just then.
She took off, darting down the road towards the castle. It was exhausting and she eventually slowed to walking. When it came time to trek up the hill, past Hagrid’s hut and towards the courtyard, she veered into the forest instead.
She knew this part of the forest too well to be afraid and yet a chill rose along her arms. Shoving it aside, she continued to walk, staying always within the realms that she knew beside Hagrid’s hut.
She passed the clearing where they had Care of Magical Creatures and the memory of the first time she had fed a bowtruckle came to her mind, bringing a smile to her lips though the aching in her chest hadn’t gone away.
With the memory of magical creatures came the memory of Charlie, eyes lit up and ginger hair a mess as he gazed at whatever creature Professor Kettleburn was teaching them about that day.
A rustle in the brush behind her sent her to spinning around.
A warmth entered her heart, though she would have thought there was no more room past the ache. As if the memory had conjured him up, there came Charlie, walking out of the darkness and into the glade.
She could barely see him, the moon being blocked by the overcast sky, but she could see his kind expression as he approached her.
“What are you doing all the way out here?” he asked. His ginger hair was falling out of his ponytail just as she had seen it in her memory.
“How did you find me?” She asked instead, not answering his question yet.
His expression became sheepish. “I—uh—followed you.”
“You followed me,” she said, the words tasting comforting in her mouth.
“Yeah,” he nodded, “Dora told me she saw you outside the pub. She thought I would be a better help then she would. And when I saw you running, I thought I’d follow along. I was worried. I wanted to make sure you were alright.”
She didn’t say anything.
“Well,” he said, “are you—are you alright?”
The words were too much. She pushed them off in the only way she knew how, by physically walking away.
“No,” she huffed, Charlie jogged up to walk beside her, “I’m never alright anymore. I think I am. I know I should be, that everything is alright, that we broke the curse on the vault, that everyone trapped in the portraits are safe, but I’m not alright. I don’t understand it. I think I’m afraid, but no matter how much I tell myself not to be afraid, I still have this.” She stopped, turning to him, and rubbed at her chest again, trailing off.
She raised her gaze from the forest floor to his sad eyes.
“I’m sorry,” he said.
“Everything is fine,” she said again, “I shouldn’t be feeling this way.”
Charlie shook his head, eventually answering quietly, “I disagree. It’s not a should or shouldn’t.”
She didn’t answer, having no words.
He took a breath, glancing past her, and then his eyes met hers again, “Can I show you something?”
His face was so pure, so good, with just the right amount of hope and compassion in his eyes that all she could think to say was, “yes.”
He smiled, walking off and she was grateful that he hadn’t taken her hand. She walked just a step behind and beside him as he moved to the edge of the wood.
They were on the shore of the Black Lake. The waters sweeping out before them.
“Okay,” he said, facing the lake.
She followed his lead. The sky was not so overcast here and she could make out stars between the cloud cover.
“Are you ready?” he asked, glancing back at her.
She nodded.
Charlie turned and she only caught sight of the edge of a grin before he uttered his spell.
“Expecto Patronum!”
A flash of light. A beam of blue. And then starlight exploded in the sky above them.
But, not starlight.
For as her eyes adjusted, she could see the stars twinkling behind the massive patronus that Charlie had conjured.
She had seen a patronus summoned. Had summoned one herself, though it hadn’t been corporeal, but never had she seen one take the form of a magical creature.
And of course Charlie’s patronus was a dragon.
A Welsh Green to be precise. Exactly like the dragon that the dragon tamers had ridden to collect the Hungarian Horntail, not a week earlier.
“How? How…?”
Charlie smiled back at her, the Horntail hovering effortlessly in the air, its tale swishing yards above them.
“I casted it right after they rescued the Horntail,” he smiled at the thought. “I had just finished talking with Mr. Scamander and I guess that, combined with the memory of the experience before, was so great that I was able to cast it. I was just so happy that a patronus came to mind and I wanted to cast it.”
She hesitated, feeling his eyes upon her, before she finally mustered up the energy to ask, “What memory did you choose just now?”
He smiled, looking at the lake and she knew he was thinking to himself. “The same night I guess. Well, that whole evening.”
“With the Horntail?”
“Yes, and Mr. Scamander, and the dragon tamers, and the Welsh Green…and Professor Dumbledore and…you.”
“Oh,” she breathed, startled.
“Oh.”
The words hovered in the air between them.
Finally, Charlie spoke again.
“Would you like to try?”
She blinked at him, “try?”
“Try casting a patronus.”
She blinked again, unsure of how to respond.
“Go ahead,” he said, gently beckoning with a slight dip of his head.
She stepped up beside him, the end of his wand still streaming the ray of light that turned into the dragon high above them.
“Alright,” she whispered, “but don’t expect it to be corporeal.”
“I don’t expect anything,” he said, his voice gentle, calming.
She smiled and she didn’t need any memory in that moment for a beam of light to rush over her wand when she whispered, “Expecto Patronum.”
She slashed her wand elegantly across the sky and the blue waves that wafted from it gradually coalesced together until they formed into a figure of feathers and talons.
“A phoenix,” Charlie whispered what they both now knew. “Your patronus is a phoenix.”
“Yes,” she breathed, “I believe it is.”
He turned to her, a wondrous expression gracing his face.
“It’s beautiful,” a rush of air left his lungs.
(Y/N) smiled at it, “it is, isn’t it?”
“Yeah. How were you able to cast it? What memory did you use?”
They watched as the phoenix flitted around the hovering dragon, playing with her every now and again.
“I didn’t use a memory.”
“You didn’t…” Charlie gaped at her and she saw as the understanding dawned over his face.
She didn’t need to say a word and he didn’t push her by saying another as well. They just enjoyed the sight of their patronuses for a little while longer. When the cold finally got to (Y/N), Charlie walked a step or two beside her into the castle and left her by her door, allowing her to enter her dormitory alone.
Though she didn’t feel entirely back to normal, and wasn’t sure how often this feeling would pop up after Rakepick’s betrayal, she felt hope for the first time in a week.
Taking a deep breath, she rested in her bed for her last night at Hogwarts and hoped that the illumination from her patronus would last much longer than those few moments by the lake.

Myer Briggs Personality Type: ISFJ- The Defender
THE MAGE
1st Wand: Acacia Wood
A very unusual wand wood, which I have found creates tricky wands that often refuse to produce magic for any but their owner, and also withhold their best effects from all but those most gifted. This sensitivity renders them difficult to place, and I keep only a small stock for those witches or wizards of sufficient subtlety, for acacia is not suited to what is commonly known as ‘bangs-and-smells’ magic. When well-matched, an acacia wand matches any for power, though it is often underrated due to the peculiarity of its temperament.
2nd Wand: Silver Lime
The reasons for these wands’ desirability lay not only in their unusually handsome appearance, but also because they had a reputation for performing best for Seers and those skilled in Legilimency, mysterious arts both, which consequently gave the possessor of a silver lime wand considerable status. When demand was at its height, wandmaker Arturo Cephalopos claimed that the association between silver lime and clairvoyance was ‘a falsehood circulated by merchants like Gerbold Ollivander (my own grandfather), who have overstocked their workshops with silver lime and hope to shift their surplus’. But Cephalopos was a slipshod wandmaker and an ignoramus, and nobody, Seer or not, was surprised when he went out of business.
Animagus: Black and White cat.
Misc Magical Abilities: (Legilimen, Seer, Parselmouth, Obscurial, ect): Seer. Somehow linked with inherited Legilimens abilities but its not certain how or why.
Boggart Form:

2nd-4th year:The Dullahan. She saw him once before her grandad died.
5th year- onward: The Dullahan as Rakepick standing over her friends dead bodies
Riddikulus Form: The Hidebend turns into a monkey symbol toy. The Dullahan flees as her friends bodies turn into bars of gold.
Amortentia: (What do they smell like?) Pumpkins, Hot Chocolate, and the seaside.
Amortentia: (What do they smell?): Old books, Tea, and broom wood (Andre).
Patronus:  Dapple Grey Stallion.
Patronus Memory: Her older sisters taking her, Sean, Bryn, and Jacob to feed the ducks.
Mirror of Erised: Depends. As a child and 1-5th year its her family together again. Later its herself, secure in her relationships with those that love her and not needing the ones that don't.
Specialized/Favourite Spells:
Incendio: Hecate likes fire more than she should.
Bombarda: See above explanation.
Alhmohora: Hecate is like a cat. If a door is closed, she wants in.

- Brave. Isn’t afraid of anyone or anything even when she should be.
MISC
- Is closest to her older sisters and Bryn
- Originally wanted to be a Herbologist (Since Magizoologist and Keeper for the Holyhead Harpies were both out of reach due to her epilepsy) but fell in love with Commentating. Decided to do Herbology after she either retired from commentating or got sick of it, whichever came first.
- Jacob calls her Pip or Mouth depending on his mood. Fiadah calls her half pint. Rubin and Wren call her Redbird.
- Wasn’t allowed to have her own pet growing up. Her Grandma (who lived with them up until her death in Hecate’s Seventh Year) had a pet spider named Shelob that HATED children and would often terrorize Danny, Sean, and Hecate.
- Adopted as many pets as she could when she got to Hogwarts, because her mother made the mistake of telling her she could have as many animals as she wanted once she got to school.
- Hecate’s great-grandmother invented the Epilambanein Potion specifically for the Ames family, as seizures after waking visions had been quite common for centuries.
- Hecate’s waking visions are terrifying and usually end in an epileptic  fit. Additionally, she often has nightmares. Fortunately, those do not end in a seizure.
- Pangur Ban can sense when Hecate is about to seize/have a vision and alerts her so she can take the potion.
- Joined Frog Choir because she thought there would be frogs. Merula teases her about it mercilessly.

Everyone knows about the angels the winged creatures with the kind heart. This story is about the love between a male angel and a human girl but i won't tell you what happened right now. You should read the whole story to find it out.
The angel of this story is called Pancrazio a beautiful male angel full of youth with chin length wavy brown hair which included a curl on the middle of it that leaned upwards and golden brown eyes. He was fully naked and was wearing only a small golden crown on the left side of his head. He had large white wings on his back as well.
Besides his external beauty he was beautiful in the inside too: he had a kind heart , a melodic voice and smiled a lot. He enjoyed learning things with his two older brothers Lovino and Feliciano, his two older sisters Rosetta and Chiara ,his young brother Marcello, his younger sister Mirella and his younger twin sister Lucia.
He always wanted to meet the humans in person and this was what he desired the most.
One warm summer day he decided to leave his home and go to see the humans that he heard a lot about them.
He tried to approach some of them , but the responses weren't exactly what he expected to hear.
" I don't want to waste my time with you. Get out of my way" an unkown woman told him angrily.
"It is just a fantasy. This voice i hear can't be real" an unknown man said to one of his friends who seemed to highly agree with him.
By far no one talked to him lovingly or at least asked him who he is and where he comes from. All these people he met were rather selfish and looked like their heart was from stone or rather they didn't have one.
As the time passed he started having such a strange feeling. It was like loneliness and sorrow combined together.  As he sat somewhere on the sand , suddenly  tears started falling from his golden brown eyes. He looked like he was unable to stop crying. It was the first time of his life he had a feeling like this but deep inside he hoped that at least one human would cure his broken heart.
But nobody could hear his weeping or notice his tears which seemed to fall without end.
Meanwhile a girl was coming across the beach. She was 16 years old , the same age with him. She had long curly hair worn in a side ponytail and green eyes. She was wearing a long greenish blue ancient greek dress, a pair of sandals and golden jewelery.
As soon as she saw the naked angel sitting on the sand and crying she decided to go near him. She approached him and asked him with a sweet and gentle voice:"an angel here? What happened to you and you are so sad?"
Holding his tears the angel answered her:" it is because I feel so lonely and some people that I met before were cruel to me. But you are not like them you are different."
She lent her hand to the stunning creature and she helped him to get up. For few minutes the angel looked at the girl's beautiful green eyes and it was like a dream. But this wasn't exactly a dream. It was real. He felt so much better.
Few seconds later he asked her: "what is your name beautiful lady?"
Then the young woman answered him: " I am Nausicaä. It is very nice to meet you."
"What a beautiful name" the angel said "My name is Pancrazio. It is my pleasure to meet you as well".
Some minutes later a young man with light brown hair and light brown eyes came towards them. His outfit included a white t-shirt white trousers a pair of sandals that almost reached his knees and a wicker hat with small fake purple grapes on the right side. He was holding a basket filled with grapes into his right hand. He was just returning from his vineyard that was taking care of. He looked tired but he was also happy with the result of his hard work. His name was Probus and he was Nausicaä's childhood friend, actually one of many.
When Nausicaä saw him coming she told him: " hello Probus. How are you? Let me introduce you to Pancrazio. He is an angel who came to visit the human world and we fell in love at first sight."
Hearing it Probus said: " I'm fine thank you. And I'm glad for you Nausicaä. The angel and you make a really romantic couple."
Pancrazio and him developed a strong friendship as they met eachother and Nausicaa was so happy that her angel boyfriend and her childhood friend could get along so well. The three of them were such a happy company together.
The night came and everyone returned to their homes. Nausicaä couldn't sleep. She was thinking of the beautiful angel who stole her heart and hoped to see him again. Pancrazio was also trying to find a way to meet her again.
As he was sitting on his bed his younger twin sister Lucia a beautiful female angel that was fully naked with only a small golden crown on the left side of her head just like him , long wavy hair which had a curl in the middle of it leaning upwards golden brown eyes and a pair of large white wings on her back as well came into his room and asked him sweetly: " my dear twin brother what is happening to you and you are so melancholic? Tell me and i will help you."
Pancrazio answered her: " i am so happy that you are always here for me my dear twin sister . Today i met a stunning human girl and we started developing a romantic relationship . I want to see her again even if it will be the last time that i will be with her."
Lucia heard it and responded to him with a smile on her face and hugging him tenderly: "don't worry about this. I am sure that you will see her many times again."
He took courage by listening to his twin sister telling this to him and he decided to go to the earth the next day to see his beloved Nausicaa again and spend time with her.
The day dawned and it was very hot. Nausicaä after waking up , she started her daily routine and when she finished getting dressed due to the fact she was sleeping clotheless at night expect for heavy winters of course she took a book she sat on a bench that was in the garden of the house she was sharing with her older brother Herakles her older sister Antigone and her older twin brother Alexandros and she started reading it.
But she was so melancholic and when her older sister Antigone a beautiful young woman, around 17 years old with long curly brown hair , green eyes a pair of sandals on her feet , a long pink ancient greek dress and golden jewelery approached her she asked her with a sweet and caring voice:
"My dear sister. What happened to you and feel such melancholy? Did someone hurt you yesterday? Tell it to me. I am always here for you."
" Nothing bad happened to me. It is because i have a boyfriend now and he is the most stunning creature i have ever met and i want to see him again. I am telling you the truth" she responded to her.
The lady heard it and told her: " Of course i believe you my dear sister. I am so glad for you. But i hope it isn't someone, that will ruin your life and treat you like a trash."
"Don't worry i didn't fall for someone like that . The person that i love isn't actually a human. He is an angel and his name is Pancrazio. He is the most beautiful angel i have ever seen and everything that happened between us yesterday wasn't a dream. It was real" the girl answered her sister with a serious expression on her face.
Nausicaä was talking  with Antigone about how much she loved Pancrazio and the other girl seemed to be happy with her sister's choise.
In the Angel Realm Pancrazio was discussing with his two older brothers Lovino and Feliciano and his younger brother Marcello about the human girl who stole his heart.
His three brothers were all wearing short roman style togas. Lovino's was green Feliciano's was red and finally Marcello's was white. The three of them started asking him questions about her.
"Is she beautiful?" his older brother Lovino asked him.
"She is gorgeous" he answered him "She has long curly brown hair worn in a side ponytail and green eyes. She wears a long greenish blue ancient greek , dress a pair of sandals on her feet and golden jewelery".
"Is she a good person" his other older brother Feliciano asked him.
"She is the most kind hearted human i have ever met. She treated me with such kindness while other people treated me so cruel. She is very intelligent as well."
"And what is her name?" his younger brother Marcello finally asked him.
"Her name is Nausicaä and it is such a lovely name for such a lovely lady" he finally responded to him.
Pancrazio didn't forget the promise to see his beloved girlfriend again. Nausicaä was also excited about meeting her beloved boyfriend for one more time and couldn't wait for this moment to come.
According the law of angels, they were allowed to fall in love with humans and even other angels , but never with demons. It was considered as an act of trearchy for them. In fact demons despised everything good and love was one of them.
The same law also clarified if any angel and human couple wanted to stay together forever then the second one should give up their human nature and turn into angels . They couldn't get their original forms back. It was strictly forbidden to the angels , transforming into humans as well.
Even angel babies weren't born the way that human babies did. If an angel couple wanted babies then the male confessed his true feelings to his female partner and gave her a flower which after smelling, she would feel a golden sphere like thing coming out of her belly and when it is totally separated the baby which is inside  gets out of it. When twin angels were born they were always a male and a female.
Angels couldn't impregnate humans and the opposite. The newborn angels were sensitive just like the human ones.
The two of them loved eachother truly and despite of being two very different species Pancrazio was an angel and Nausicaä was a human it didn't stop them from loving eachother.
The truth is that none of them had a relationship with someone else before they met eachother.
But the real question is: Will this love be a beautiful one that will make them being happy together or it will be envolved into a tragedy that will finally forbid them from seeing eachother forever again?
It was afternoon and the weather got less hot now. That morning the temperature was extremely high but the angels couldn't sweat like the humans. Not even thunders or snow could effect them no matter if they had clothes or not.
Pancrazio was ready to leave and suddenly he saw his two older sisters Rosseta and Chiara and his younger sister Mirella coming towards him.
"Goodbye little brother. Have a great time and take care of yourself" his older sister Rosetta a female angel with her shoulder length hair worn in a ponytail and wearing nothing but a golden hair accesory told him.
"Goodbye little brother. And if you see demons there don't let them put you in temptation" his other older sister Chiara a female angel with her shoulder length hair being down and wearing nothing but a golden hair accesory told him.
"Goodbye big brother. Have a great time wherever you go" his younger sister Mirella a female angel with shoulder length orange hair and a short white dress said to him.
"Thank you so much everyone" the white winged male angel answered them with a bright smile on his face.
Nausicaä had already finished with the housework and told her older brothers Herakles and Alexandros: "Now that I finished with the housework I will go for a walk near the beach."
"Have a great time and don't be too late" her older twin brother Alexandros said to her.
"Have a great time and take care of yourself" her other older brother Herakles told her.
The girl thanked her siblings smiling brightly and she started walking. After walking lots of miles she felt tired and sat on the sand to relax.
Few minutes later the angel that she met yesterday and with whom she started developing a romantic relationship, sat next to her and spread his large white wings to make her feel that she wasn't alone. His beautiful eyes were full of silence.
"Pancrazio my dear I am so happy that you came to see me again. I thought we wouldn't meet each other " Nausicaä told him while her eyes were almost in tears.
"Nausicaä my dear. I kept the promise that I made yesterday to see you and I decided that this was the most suitable time to visit you and spend time with you." Pancrazio responded to her .
The male angel and the human girl started talking about many interesting topics together and while they were having a philosophical conversation they found out that their love for philosophy was common.
In the end of the conversation the girl asked the angel : "Is that true that the angels sing so wonderful?"
"Of course and I will show it to you" the white winged angel said to her and started singing.
It was the most stunning and melodic singing voice she ever heard and very soon she joined him and their voices had an amazing harmony together.
It started becoming dark and Nausicaä wanted to go home but she was in no mood to walk. Then Pancrazio told her: "take my hand and we will fly together towards your house. I want to stay with you tonight , except if you are against it."
The angel's words  about staying with her was exactly what the girl except to hear. Her answer was a big "Yes" filled with such happiness and excitement.
The lady did as she was told and when they arrived the angel was impressed by the house.
She took a key, that she kept in her dress' pocket and opened the door carefully so she wouldn't wake up her sister and her two brothers. At the same time the angel closed his large white wings and he walked inside the house. He even chose to go upstairs using his feet , just like his beloved one.
He layed on the bed that was big enough for two persons and the young woman got undressed and came to lay next to him.
But Nausicaä couldn't sleep and asked Pancrazio to sing her something to help her to sleep easier. He immediately accepted it and started singing with a calming voice. As he finished he kissed her on the lips and they slept hugging eachother tenderly.
The white-winged male angel liked his human girlfriend's house so much that he stayed there for some time. He didn't have his own room there because every night he was sleeping next to his beloved lady and the bed was big enough for them. Even if they gave a room just for him, he wouldn't accept this offer because he wanted to be by his love's side.
The first morning Pancrazio woke up earlier and told Nausicaä who was sleeping next to him totally naked and having her long curly hair down: "buongiorno amore mio." The young woman opened her green eyes and said to the angel who was sitting next to her : "kalimera agapi mou."
Few minutes later they went to the bathroom to start their daily routine and when they  finished they went downstairs where the living room was.
Nausicaä helped Pancrazio  navigate his wings before sitting on one of the couches without knocking something over.
Of course she chose to have her seat next to him after making sure he was feeling  comfortable like this.
That time Herakles Alexandros and Antigone arrived and sat on the right couch of the living room.
When Nausicaä saw them she said to them:
"Good morning everyone. Here is my boyfriend Pancrazio. He's an angel and he will stay for some time in our house as a guest. Let me introduce you to him."
The three of them were so impressed by the angel and generally by  their sister's relationship with this stunning creature.
"I am so happy to see an angel. And i feel it is such a great honour to have him as a guest" Herakles said with a happy expression on his face.
"It's just amazing that my twin little sister has an angel as boyfriend. They are so cute together" Alexandros said feeling very proud inside.
"I got so much excitement seeing a real angel. He is exactly like how i've imagined him to be  " Antigone told and she was impressed that her sister got a handsome boyfriend with a kind heart.
The fact that he wore nothing except for the small golden crown on his head  didn't bother them, since the angel explained that this had to do with the beauty of nature and purity.
Very soon an interesting discussion started between all of them and they were excited that the angel had the same interest in philosophy like them and started asking him questions about the angel world and he was never tired talking to them about his home and his family.
Finally Pancrazio and Nausicaä stayed alone and they shared their real first kiss by putting their lips on eachother's without worrying about being noticed by someone. They loved eachother with a burning passion and they knew it very well.
The happy couple found some very good ways to entertain themselves like reading the many books of the library, singing and playing the harp. There were actually so many things to do so they would never get bored.
All this time Pancrazio stayed on Earth he was making sure if there was any demon. If there was one he fought them and then he used his angelic powers to restore everything that was destroyed by those creatures , otherwise they would cause harm to any human that was on their way. Not even Nausicaä herself , her older brothers Herakles and Alexandros  and her older sister Antigone.
Nausicaä loved Pancrazio with all her heart and if someone dared to bully him she protected him and kicked their asses with a sword. Although her princess like appearance didn't made her a damsel in distress but a brave lady who was even able to fight the creppiest monsters in the world
Pancrazio loved Nausicaä dearly and made sure that she was alright. He was so pleased that she protected him and didn't let anybody to bully him and making him sad and this was enough for him. They deeply cared for eachother and never fought even for the most unimportant issues. They also did the housework together.
This love was like a sweet and lovely dream and it seemed nothing could stop the male angel and the human girl having such a beautiful relationship. But it will end up being a happy one or a dramatic one?
The male angel and the human lady had such a beautiful relationship, that it was so difficult to find other couples with a relationship like theirs even if it was between a king and a queen.
The couple had such lovely moments near eachother. Even Aphrodite the Goddess of Love and Beauty herself would be so happy about this relationship that made even money and other incredibly expensive things look so worthless.
But one fateful day three mysterious men appeared from nowhere and captured Pancrazio. They threatened him they'd cut off his wings. The beautiful angel was so scared.
In fact the angel and his beloved lady found happiness the most simple things like kindness, rather than money which make people happy only for a short period of time and afterwards they corrupte them or make them feel depressed.
The leader of this cult  was so obsessed with power that he would do everything to gain it even by hurting the others. So he believed that those large wings would grant his wish.
The Well of Despair cult had only male adults in their mid to late 40's as members. They were all dressed in black and used demonic symbols.
Nausicaä stood bravely and took a sword. She decided to fight that man and set her angel boyfriend free.
The man told her with a ironic smile on his face: "A girl dares to fight me? I am sure that you will get scared and start asking for help."
The girl got angry and told him: "I am not a damsel in distress who waits for a prince to save her. I will make you realise how wrong you are. "
"We'll make a deal" he told smirking
"Tell me what kind of deal it is?" she asked
"If you win the angel will be set free. But if I win his wings will be cut off" he responded to her.
"This angel is my boyfriend and I will do everything for him" she said to that man.
The two rivals decided not to talk any more and star the duel. Both of them were ready to face eachother.
The man ran towards the girl's direction and she defended herself against him as she fought him back.
"I will end your reign of terror" the young woman told him and a "clang" sound has heard as she put her sword to his
"Ha ha ha ha very funny. I can already imagine your face when I will defeat you. You'll run away crying" he said and then laughed evilly.
"Unlike what you say I won't run away no matter what will happen next!"  she said these words which such a fury that made him look like a scaredy cat.
Although they didn't stop the battle , unless one of them won.
Meanwhile Pancrazio managed to free himself from the hands of those men. Luckily his wings weren't cut off. He encouraged Nausicaä to continue fighting with everything she had.
As she was encouraged by him she attacked the man with her sword leading him to his defeat and by this she ended the cult's reign of terror. From now and on none angel would be afraid to lose their wings and the most importantly none of them would get their wings cut off.
In the next move the man's sword broke and it fell on the ground.
When the man looked at his damaged sword he didn't believe that he was defeated by a girl. His injuries where so heavy that he died because of them and as for the other members they had a feeling of guilt which haunted them until the end of their lives.
This was also the end of the cult known as Well of Despair whose purpose was to dominate the world causing pain to the other people with the support of demons.
The girl heard it and answered him as she also started crying : "I love you with all my heart as well. I want to be with you forever. I don't want to die. My desire is not to be a human anymore."
When the fight ended Pancrazio came towards Nausicaä and when he saw her in blood and her greenish blue dress being destroyed ,he hugged her and cried. While he was crying, he told her: "Please don't die. I love you with all my heart. You are the first human that gave me the true love I always wanted to get."
After this the two lovers kissed eachother on the lips and they cried during the kiss. The kiss was so sweet and lasted for hours at least in their minds.
The end
When they finally broke from the kiss Nausicaä wasn't a human anymore. She turned into an angel that was completely naked and was wearing only a golden tiara on her head and had a pair of large white wings on her back. Her wounds were fully recovered and from now and on she would be immortal but she was still able to see and visit her family. Pancrazio saw her and gave her a big hug full of love and tenderness. She put her hands around his waist and hugged him back with such a heartwarming and tender feeling .
Finally the two lovers flew together towards the Angel Realm and lived happy forever.

Part 2 from that Bruno’s report from jjba part 5! If you haven't read the first part, click here.
Taming the little white fox
Part 2 - Pain and fear
I woke up later that day, but I kept my routine. It was raining, so I also prepared myself for that, then I went to the bakery to have breakfast and pay whatever was on my name, since I've convinced Chiara to eat there whenever she wanted to. But curiously, there was nothing to pay.
_ Ah, that white haired girl? - the cashier said - I heard there was an accident with her at midnight.
   _ What...?
_ A neighbor said she was taken to the hospital.
_ She was screaming like a wild animal! - a random person joined the conversation.
   _ Which hospital?
I rushed to the building as fast as I could, asking about my kid. Hopefully, the team already knew about me as a gangster and some nurses have seen me with Chiara, so they didn't ask anything. She was on a room for herself, sleeping like an angel. I sighed with relief and sat near her. There were bandages around her forehead, right arm plastered and she was getting an IV. The doctor came after a few minutes to explain the situation.
_ Well Mr. Bucciarati, as you can see, she broke her right arm, hit the back of her head and and broke a few ribs, nothing too serious. We didn't know exactly what happened but we can assure she fell from a high place, which is weird because there was no buildings nearby. She made a scene when we arrived, so we had to sedate her... twice. Did you knew about some medicine she was taking?
   _ No, I didn't...
_ She had this on her pocket - he handed me a little box with capsules - I don't know how she was getting this but... This is a medicine used for control some withdrawal symptoms, not very recommend these days...
   _ You're telling me she's a drug user? - I confess I had to held myself there.
_ No, no Sir, please, let me finish. I knew she was with you, so I took the initiative to research about her here at the hospital and just found data from the day she was born. And actually, her mother was a drug user. It said that we tried to pick the child and give her a proper treatment, but the mother refused. There was also a report about trying to remove the guard from her but I think she was a gangster as well. We have a file with all the details if you want to. Also, we took advantage that she was sleeping and started with a proper treatment for this problems, hopefully, she'll not need this pills anymore.
_ ... Yes... Yes please, and thank you.
He handed me the file and I waited the man to leave so I fell on the chair with my hands on the face. It was just too much to absorb. What happened to this girl? On the file was basically everything the doctor said. Her full name was Chiara Polvere, that wasn't the mother name so o thought it was her father's and making the math for the date she was born... She was 9 years. Only 9. I put my hand on the face again.
_ Where am I...? - I heard she saying with a hoarse voice.
_ You're in the hospital... Chiara? Are you okay?
She was looking around her and suddenly her breath became faster and her eyes widened, she looked at the IV on her vein and she got terrified.
_ No... Not again... WHAT DID YOU DO TO ME?
   _ Chiara! It's okay! You're saf...
I got hit on the face. And it was a punch stronger than I thought a girl like her could give. She pushed the IV with her teeth while removing the sheets with her feet. I tried to hold her on place but then I saw a ghostly arm with thorns in the fists and I got punched again. The girl was a stand user. She took the serum support and broke the window with it. I jumped the bed calling her name and tried to hold her once more but she was already jumping through the window with some kind of glider. It was still raining, we were on the second floor and she had only one arm that was unharmed. I jumped after her using my own stand on the wall. She couldn't stay on the air for long so she fell on some bushes in the hospital's garden screaming in pain.
When I got to her, she was crawling while whispering something. Her left fist was on an weird angle, her leg was bleeding and she had light scratches on her body. I grabbed her on the shoulder and turned her to face me, she was still fighting trying to scape, and I was prepared to hold her stand with my own.
   _ No! Let me go!
_ Chiara! - I screamed and shooked her. Then she finally stopped and looked at me whit eyes full of fear.
   _ Bruno...?
_ Nobody is gonna hurt you! You're safe!
_ Bruno... I don't wanna go back there... - she started crying and I hold her against my chest.
_ It's okay my child... This people are helping you.
   _ I don't wanna go back!
_ I'm here with you. I'll protect you. I promise.
I closed her wound on the leg with my stand and I carried her back to the hospital. The medic team met me at the entrance, they sedated Chiara once more and took her inside.
While the doctors were taking care of her, I went out to search for her mother and I found out that she was already dead. There was nothing about her father, not even his name. I didn't stayed on the streets for too long, I needed to be by her side when she wakes up.
   _ Bruno?
_ I'm here. - She didn't open her eyes, so I put my hand on her shoulder. We stayed like this for a few minutes, in silence.
_ Why are you doing this for me? Why do you care?
_ You are important to me, and I'm determined to take you with me.
   _ You barely know me.
_ I know enough. - I also couldn't let her live in the streets, and couldn't allow her to kill people when she felt like doing it. She could never have a normal life. I crossed the line when I was 12, she crossed when she was 8 or even less.
_ You know you're asking for trouble. - she finally looked at me and I smiled at her.
   _ I can manage that.
_ Will I join the mafia and do the same crazy things you do?
_ First, you're not officially join the gang. Second, I'll give you a roof and a comfort life, in exchange for this, you'll have to listen to me. Third, you'll have to tell me what your stand can do. - she gave me a confused look so I just called out Sticky Fingers.
   _ Aaaw... Fair enough.
The treatment ended in a couple months. Of course we had a conversation about the incidents and the fact she was gliding without security, that's why everything happened in first place, but I didn't say or ask about her traumas. She was a stubborn girl, and I had a lot of work to do.
That’s the end of this report, thx for reading!

Fall On Me
Words count: 4 200 Warnings: mentions of fertility issues, other than that just fluff Author’s note: This is the fic I have thought so much about. I have written something, then stopped, then written again, thought about it and considered for so long if I should post it or not. I have never been this nervous posting something, probably because there is a big part of me in it - therefore, any kind of feedback will be greatly appreciated!
After four years of dating and their first year being married, Chiara and Ethan find out that there are still surprises in store for them.
Important notes: My MC (Chiara) has been diagnosed with an immune system disorder that makes it close to impossible for her to become pregnant. It has been stated in Destination fic as well as in Already Gone series, but for those who haven’t read those, it’s important to know that so you understand the context.
There are three more important notes at the end (they would kind of ruin the experience if you read them in the beginning). PLEASE read them, especially the first one, it is really important to me.
***  ***  *** ***
As Ethan stepped into his office, the sight of sleeping Chiara on a couch didn’t even surprise him. It was the fifth time in the last ten days. She would throw an apologetic smile at him along with a muttered “I just need to catch a quick break” and half an hour later, he would find her fast asleep in his office.
At this point, surprise has been replaced by worrying. Ethan knew his wife and he knew that she could go weeks without rest. This behavior was strange, to say the least.
He approached the couch and knelt next to it, gently brushing the hair off her forehead. Placing a soft kiss on it instead, he whispered: “Chiara, are you okay?”
She opened her eyes slowly at first, obviously confused about the whole situation. Realizing what was happening – again – she sat up rapidly, trying to come up with a good excuse.
“I am sorry, Ethan, I must have fallen asleep. I just wanted to sit down for a while and-“
“It’s okay,” Ethan cut her off and took a seat next to her, hugging her waist. “I’m just a little worried about your constant tiredness.”
Sighing, Chiara rubbed her eyes and leaned into his chest, shaking her head slowly.
“I am fine. It’s just… ever since we’ve gotten back from the Europe, the work has been crazy. Two weeks and I feel like I need another vacation.”
Visiting Europe has become their habit through the years. It started with a trip to Tuscany on Chiara’s third year of residency, continuing with a quick trip to France after getting engaged, honeymoon in Greece and finally this year, when they decided to spend their first wedding anniversary on a three-weeks long roadtrip through Scandinavia, finished with four days in The Basque Country, so that Chiara could pursue her dream of visiting Guernica, the village on Picasso’s painting.
Chiara was right about the work being absolutely crazy ever since they’ve gotten back and throwing a glance at the paperwork on his desk, Ethan was very well aware of the exhaustion they both felt. Still, he managed to get through his days without needing a nap.
“Let me draw your blood so that I can run some tests. Maybe it’s just iron deficiency, but I want to be sure,” Ethan murmured into her hair, kissing the top of her head. “And go home to sleep.”
She turned to him, brows furrowed as she shook her head again.
“Absolutely not. I am fine, just a little weary. Just make me a cup of coffee and I’ll be fresh.”
Ethan stood up to make her the coffee, however he had no intention of letting her stay in work. He would bet that she was just ‘resting her eyes’ while he was turned to the coffee machine. As a doctor, there was one particular idea about what her exhaustion was about. Noticing such symptoms with anybody else, he would be absolutely sure. But this was Chiara he was thinking about and so he didn’t allow his mind wander into the direction it was tempted to.
“I am serious, Rookie. You are no use here, hardly keeping your eyes open. Drink the coffee, let me take your blood and go home to rest. I’ll come as soon as I can.”
She rolled her eyes and took the cup from his hands. Just as she was about to sip the coffee, she scrunched her nose in an utter disgust and looked up at him.
“Did you change the brand? This smells… ugh, I am not as demanding as you when it comes to coffee and even I can tell that this smells worse than the cafeteria coffee.”
Ethan bit his lip to hide the jitteriness overwhelming him at those words.
It was the same coffee brand they’ve been ordering for more than three years.
It was all adding up.
He shrugged as casually as he could and said: “Yeah, I tried a new roastery and it’s disappointing. Lets get you out of here, shall we?”
Chiara wanted to fight him, to stubbornly stay and prove him that she was more than capable of working, but she had to admit that she’s probably never felt as exhausted. And the vision of their king-sized bed was way too tempting.
Relucantly, she nodded and followed Ethan into an empty patient room to get her blood taken.
˜
To say that Ethan was nervous would be an understatement. He could’ve gone home a long time ago and instead he found himself pacing back and forth in his office, waiting for a nurse to page him that Chiara’s results were ready.
Still, when his pager went off, he all but jumped on the spot.
Seven minutes later, Ethan thanked the nurse and clutched the results in his hand, fighting the urge to read them right then and there, not quite believing his own self to be able to not to break down is the results confirmed the diagnosis he suspected.
Breathing heavily as he reached his office, he sat down on the couch – the very same Chiara was sleeping on just hours ago – and with trembling hands opened the file to see the results.
His eyes widened and just then, his vision turned blurry. New lump formed in his throat and his heart kept beating as if his dear life depended on the rate it was beating. His hands trembled so hard now that the file fell on the floor.
He was right.
Ethan could feel the tears damping his cheeks and falling on the fabric of his navy blue pants and he realized that he couldn’t care less about crying while at work.
Throwing his head back, he stared at the ceiling, letting the tears fall down freely, his heartbeat slowly calming back to normal.
He knew he needed to go home and share the results with Chiara. He just didn’t know how he should do such a thing.
˜
Chiara’s peaceful five-hours long nap has been interrupted by the sound of keys clinking in the door.
Stirring lazily in a blanket, she sat up and smiled softly as Ethan walked into the living room.
“You look exhausted. Hard day?” she asked, patting the seat next to her. “Come here.”
Ethan slumped down on the couch next to her and kissed her cheek instead of answering, his mind a battlefield of ideas on how to tell Chiara. As a doctor, he knew that he needed to be honest and straightforward. As a husband, he didn’t feel comfortable throwing such a bomb into her face as if she was simply a patient.
Noticing how lost in his head Ethan was, Chiara grew concerned.
“Did something happen, Ethan?”
He blurted his next words out before he gave any of his battling ideas a chance to win.
“I’ve got your test results.”
“Am I dying?” Chiara laughed, putting her hand on his bouncing knee to calm him down. After Ethan refused to look back at her, she sensed that something was indeed wrong. “Oh, I am dying, aren’t I?”
Chuckling, Ethan finally turned to look at her and kisser her temple. “You are not dying.”
“But?” Chiara raised her eyebrow while Ethan took the hand on his knee into his own, stroking Chiara’s knuckles softly with his thumb.
Taking a deep breath, he stuttered: “I… we… you are pregnant, Chiara.”
Chiara’s face grew paler than he’s ever seen it and there were big drops of cold sweat on her forehead. Ethan squeezed her hand to stop it from shaking, but with no success.
At last, Chiara let out a choked whisper.
“What kind of sick joke is this?”
For a second, Ethan almost felt offended by her accusation, as if she didn’t know him, as if she didn’t know that he would never joke about such a thing. Then, however, he recalled his own reaction when he found out just an hour and half before and could understand the Chiara’s one.
Instead of another word, Ethan reached down to grab his bag from the floor and pulled Chiara’s file out. Handing it to her, he made sure to point his finger at the row that indicated the elevated level of hCG in her blood.
Her eyes widened as she recognized what he was showing her and she gasped audibly, looking up at Ethan and down on her own file, back and forth until she found her lost voice.
“But… how? That’s impossible.”
“Nobody has ever said that it was impossible, only that your chances were extremely low, close to none.”
Chiara started to reminisce the last days, trying to connect the dots now that she knew the result.
The extreme fatigue, waves of nausea here and there, those could easily be read as literally anything else. She missed her period, but her cycle has never been regular, so she hardly considered it anyhow important, especially knowing that travelling has always made things even more irregular for her.
“Did you know?” she whispered as she turned to Ethan, who was staring at her intensively.
“I didn’t know. I became suspicious few days back, when you wouldn’t let me go anywhere near your chest,” he grinned. “Together with the exhaustion, the possibility of pregnancy found its way into my mind, but I didn’t even want to think about it, knowing how very unlikely it was. It was your disgust with the coffee today that made me almost sure that you were, in fact, pregnant.”
Chiara stared at the results again, not quite absorbing what they were saying. For almost six years, she believed she could never be pregnant.
“You need to see your gynecologist tomorrow, of course,” Ethan cut the silence again. “But as Dr. Ramsey, I can say for sure that you are pregnant.”
He scooped her into his arms so that she would sit on his lap and hugged her shocked form tightly. Chiara’s lips were still slightly parted and she was blinking just a little bit faster than usually as his words – and their new reality – sank in.
When it finally did, she wasn’t able to contain the emotions any longer.
First sob escaped her mouth, followed by another and so much more, accompanied by huge tears falling from her eyes.
Ethan gently pulled her head closer so that she was resting it against his chest and peppered her hair with soft kisses. Even though his share of tears has already been shed in a privacy of his office, feeling Chiara’s shaking body as she cried all those happy, surprised tears, he couldn’t help but cry along quietly with her.
“I am going to ruin your shirt,” Chiara mumbled against his white Oxford, noticing how her mascara stained it.
Ethan let out a quick laugh, his voice thick with emotions as he replied: “I couldn’t care less.”
After what could have been minutes or hours, they breaths steadied, however their positions haven’t changed at all.
They were both quiet for a long time and one could say that they were lost in their own thoughts when really, they were both lost in the very same thought.
Parents. They would become parents.
They talked about adoption on a regular basis at this point, both open to the idea that two or three years from now, they would go for it, that they would become parents to a kid that was left alone.
But those were talks about future. Hypothetical.
This was real. In less than a year, they would be parents to their very own newborn.
“Are you happy?” Chiara whispered, looking up at him with a gentle smile on her lips.
Ethan kissed her forehead before responding.
“I can’t imagine being happier.”
Biting her lower lip, Chiara asked again: “Are you also a little bit…scared? Because I am.”
Laughing loudly at the adorable confession, Ethan nodded: “God, I am terrified. Being a father, that brings so many possibilities to screw it up.”
Chiara cupped his cheeks and pulled him down for a kiss, their first real, deep kiss that day and as his tender lips moved over hers, she knew that there would be no better father for her child than Ethan Ramsey.
˜
One of the perks of being in her sixth month of pregnancy was the fact that her belly could easily serve as a tiny tea table. Right now, a large bowl of popcorn was sitting on her rounded torso as she was sitting on Bryce’s couch.
“The poor kid,” Bryce muttered as he noticed.
It was another Bryce & Chiara movies Wednesday, a habit that started even before Chiara and Ethan got together and carried on through the years.
With her third trimester slowly approaching, Chiara has been even more insistent on attending those, knowing that once she would give birth, they wouldn’t be able to watch a whole movie in one sitting.
“How is Ramsey? I haven’t seen him in the hospital this week,” Bryce asked as he put a glass of water in front of Chiara and played with a remote control to find the movie on Netflix.
“He’s busy with paperwork, so he mostly stays in his office these days,” Chiara explained. “Other than that, he has read two books about child’s development this week, so I guess everything’s as usual.”
Bryce laughed loudly and just before he pushed the ‘play’ button, he turned to Chiara: “Do you remember when you told me about not being able to have kids all those years ago?”
Chiara nodded, that day somehow still fresh in her mind.
“I told you back then, that you only had to find someone whose sperms will be stubborn enough to beat your own stubborn immune system, remember? Well, I was damn right,” he grinned smugly, earning a popcorn thrown into his head from Chiara.
On the other side of Boston, Ethan and Naveen just finished their meals and moved into the living room, glasses of scotch in their hands.
A comfortable silence accompanied them, their talks about work already finished.
Taking a few gulps of his drink, Ethan leaned into a couch with a soft smile on his lips.
“It’s going to be a girl,” he let out finally, his soft smile soon turning into a wide, happy one.
They only found out yesterday. Ever since beginning of the pregnancy, they couldn’t decide whether they wanted to know the gender of the baby or not. After long discussions – and Sienna’s suggestion that they should do a blood tests that would reveal the gender, give the results to her without looking at them so that she could organize a baby gender reveal party – they came to the agreement that they would only find out if the ultrasound would show it. And yesterday, in Chiara’s 25th week of pregnancy, the doctor informed them that their ‘princess’ is growing beautifully.
Neither Chiara nor Ethan wanted any kind of baby party organized – much to Sienna’s disappointment. This pregnancy – most likely the only one they would ever get to experience – has been such precious, sacred thing to them that they tried to keep everything as private as possible. They found joy in their bubble of emotions only two people who never believed would be this lucky could feel.
“A girl!” Naveen clasped his hands together and beamed even brighter than Ethan. “A granddaughter!”
Ethan nodded, the warmth in his chest expanding even more at Naveen’s words.
“Have you decided on a name yet?” he asked, his curious nature not letting him keep the question to himself.
Shaking his head this time, Ethan said: “Since the beginning, we’ve known that if it was a boy, he would be named Dorian after Chiara’s father. There have been some ideas about girls name, but nothing seemed right so far.”
The first idea they both had was Dolores. It came naturally to Ethan, knowing that she named her son after him and that his friend’s name deserved to be celebrated. Still, he didn’t want to be reminded of the tragedy every time he would talk to his daughter. Chiara has been very supportive about the name Dolores, knowing better than anyone what it felt like to want to name her child after someone important to her. But she never insisted. She could tell that simply thinking about Dolores Hudson made Ethan’s heart ache and she would never push the name on him.
“You seem lost in your thoughts,” Naveen commented. “Are you worried that your daughter will inherit your insufferable stubbornness?”
Ethan laughed at that, raising an eyebrow at his mentor and his friend.
“As if you didn’t know Chiara. The kid is going to be insufferably stubborn no matter who she takes after.”
The truth was, he did wish their daughter would take after Chiara. The idea of raising his own little self terrified him more than he would ever admit and on the other hand, the idea of having someone else as bright as Chiara in his life made his heart happy.
“Well, no matter who she takes after, it’s safe to say that she will be a strong girl,” Naveen smiled, raising his glass. “Beating all those odds and finding her way into your life, she is already a bigger rebel than any of us. She will be a warrior and a mighty one, I am telling you.”
˜
When Chiara returned home, she found Ethan deep in a research on his laptop.
He registered her presence only when she sat down next to him, taking a glance on the screen only to find yet another study about children.
“Hey,” he kissed her cheek and closed the laptop. “Did you have a good time?”
She laid down, putting her head into his lap. “The movie was terrible. I could feel my braincells leave my body. Other than that, yeah, it’s been great. Bryce is so excited about being an uncle to the ‘little queenie’. He said, to quote him, that he will make sure she sees him as an example of how gentlemen should treat their ladies, so that when she is dating she doesn’t settle for anything less than what she deserves.”
“That’s really… nice of him. Thoughtful,” Ethan nodded; however, his furrowed brows didn’t quite match the words. “I don’t think we need to talk about dating just yet, though.”
Of course he will be that kind of a father, Chiara thought, laughing.
“What were you reading about?” she decided to change the topic.
“Oh, I’ve been looking up baby carriers online and so I decided  to read some articles and studies about them.”
“Baby carriers, huh? I never took you for someone who would want that.”
Ethan shrugged, fighting the temptation to read her all those articles. Instead, he went with simply pointing some interesting information.
“It helps to build a healthy attachment between a child and their parent. You know, you are carrying her in your body for nine months, you have a possibility of breastfeeding, you two are naturally connected. As a father, I would like to… increase my chances of bonding with my child properly,” he swallowed harder that he wanted, hoping that Chiara didn’t notice just how nervous about this whole attachment thing he’s become.
He was so excited to meet their daughter, to hold her in his arms, it sometimes surprised even him.
But there was another part of him. The one that constantly doubted his ability to be a good father. For such a long time he didn’t believe that he could ever find himself in the role of a parent and he got used to the idea, no matter how painful. He used to remind himself that it would be for the best if he never had them, that as a man unworthy of his mother’s love, he wouldn’t know how to be the parent his children deserved.
Everything has changed with Chiara in his life and now he was about to become a father. And he was scared that it would be the one task he would fail. He tried his best to be prepared – reading books and studies and articles, watching videos on how to bath a newborn and taking notes about how many layers of clothing was suitable for various temperatures. He made arrangements with Naveen and his team so that everyone knew that he would be stepping down as a head of diagnostics once the baby is born, with Aurora becoming the director of the team.
For more than fifteen years, he’s been building his career and he’s been proud of what he achieved. But there was no feeling connected with his career that would make him as proud as the idea of being a decent father.
“According to these studies, the position they are in while in a carrier helps the newborns with their colics and also there are children that don’t like being in a stroller and the carrier helps them to fall asleep.”
Chiara nodded, noticing absolutely clearly how nervous and overwhelmed Ethan was. She also knew why, even though he would never share his concerns with her.
“I kind of believe that. When I was born, I was the perfect baby. You know, the kid that everyone envied when my parents talked about me. I slept most of the day and then the whole night, I never cried, I smiled at everyone. My parents would joke that sometimes they forgot they had me. And Liam was very similar from what I can remember – and what my mother told me. He was such a cutie and even if he couldn’t fall asleep or calm down, a little bit of bouncing in a stroller and he would be fine,” she laughed softly as she was reaching the end – and the point – of her monologue. “My parents were so proud. They always said that they could only create the good sleepers that never cry. Probably encouraged by the belief, they decided to have a third child and God, Alicia was such a difficult baby. She would always cry and never sleep. The only thing that calmed her down enough to sleep was when someone carried her in their arms and walked around the house – so that’s what my parents did. All the time. Sometimes, when they’ve gotten too tired or needed to do something, they would put her into my arms – let me remind you that I was seven – and I would be in charge of walking around the house. I bet they would appreciate the baby carrier back then.”
Ethan chuckled softly while stroking Chiara’s wild hair and after a while decided to tell her the real reason he even browsed the internet this evening.
“I might have found a name.”
After Naveen left, something he’s said resonated with Ethan.
‘She will be a warrior and a mighty one.’
Ethan never cared about meanings of names, he didn’t even know the meaning of his own name until this evening. And yet, despite his best principles, he decided to search girls names that meant warrior or ‘strong, mighty’.
And he found it.
Mighty in battle.
It clicked.
“What name do you have in mind?” Chiara asked.
“Matilda.”
Chiara didn’t even try to suppress her surprise, expecting anything but Matilda. What surprised her even more, she loved it on the first hearing. It indeed was the one.
“I have also thought about the name a little bit,” she admitted. “I found one that I would love to be a second name for her.”
Nodding, Ethan encouraged her to spill it.
“Nekane.”
“Nekane? I have never heard of it.”
“It would be surprising if you did,” Chiara smirked. “It’s the Basque form for Dolores. And you know, since now we know for sure that our daughter has been conceived in Spain, I think it would be rather fitting. It would still carry the honor of Dolores, just in a different form.”
Matilda Nekane Ramsey.
They both loved the sound of that.
It sounded like their daughter.
After sharing another silent moment full of love, peace and understanding, Chiara decided to go to bed and Ethan promised to follow her as soon as he’d finish the study.
When Ethan stepped into their bedroom, Chiara was already asleep, lying on her right side. Climbing to the bed, he laid down on his left side so that he could face her. Suddenly, not knowing how the idea has gotten into him, he was shifting down slightly until he reached her round stomach.
Moving the fabric of her cotton shirt higher, he put his hand over her belly and did something he had never done before.
“Hello, Matilda,” he whispered nervously. “This is Ethan speaking. Your father. Or your dad, as you will probably call me. We have never really talked before but the annoying knocking you hear sometimes, that’s me stroking your mom’s bump.”
He paused for a while, composing his thoughts.
“I am sincerely scared about how this whole father thing is going to work for me, but I promise you as I am trying and I will by trying for the rest of my life. I have done a lot of bad things in my life, Matilda and I can’t take them back. They are part of who I am. But looking at your mother and thinking about you makes me realize that both of you are part of who I am too. And I don’t know in which point of my life the universe decided that I have shared enough kindness to earn your presence but I must have done something right to deserve you in my life, right?”
Kissing the skin of Chiara’s stomach, he added: “I just really hope you inherit your mother’s patience and kindness so that you will forgive me every time I fuck things up.”
Biting his lip, he grinned to himself before saying one last thing to his Matilda.
“Please don’t tell your mom I said ‘fuck’, she would be furious.”
 *** *** ***
1) as someone who is mother herself, I realize that topics of pregnancy, infertility issues, children in general are extremely sensitive - in this particular fanfiction, Chiara has gotten pregnant against the odds while on vacation. PLEASE note that I, by no means, am trying to say that if you are suffering from fertility issues, taking a vacation/reducing stress/changing the environment would definitely help you. There are some cases /that I know of/ in which it did help, however I would never dare to say that it’s the solution. I just need to make sure that I acknowledge how difficult and sensitive the topic is.
2) I really, really wanted to write a pregnancy fic, I had this idea in my head for very, very long time. However, I also absolutely love the idea of Ethan and Chiara adopting a child (I think especially Ethan would be fond of it, since he knows what it feels like to grow up without a parent) and so here is a little HC for after this story - Matilda is indeed the ‘miracle’ and their only biological child and when she is around six years old, Ethan and Chiara decide to adopt ophraned twin girls Luna and Siria. Purposefully girls, because I can see Ethan not trusting women after his mother leaves him and feeling like no woman could ever love him truly and boom suddenly there are four women in his life that love him more than life itself and he is proven wrong every day.
3) the story about the name Matilda is so funny/tragic that I have to write about it - I love the name, always loved and believed that I would name my daughter Matilda one day. My man hates the name so it’s off the table and I always knew that little Ramsey would be named Matilda to pursue my dream at least fictionally. When I was looking for some photos at David Gandy’s IG, I found out that his very own daughter is named Matilda. Whoa. Then, I was on a search for a faceclaim for Chiara and boom - the girl is named Matilda. Ooops. And only when this fic was finished and I googled the name Matilda for some reason, I found out that there is kinda popular person named Matilda Ramsay and I was just like okay screw this. But I couldn’t bring myself to change the name, so here it is. Sorry not sorry.

Jupiter (Ethan X MC)
Words count: 3 000
Warnings: angst & fluff
Set in Chapter 19, after MC leaves Ethan in the atrium and meets her friends
Truth to be told, I was planning to take a little break from writing, as I am extremely self-conscious and I kind of dislike everything I create (well except my kid, she turned out pretty great) but then I’ve read Chapter 19 and was like ‘okay if PB can write shit, so can I’
This was written at the night while I was super angry with the chapter (and also have had two glasses of wine) and I never thought it would be shared but here I am sharing it and probably deleting when I am not so pissed at PB lol
Tumblr media
As much as Chiara wanted to get drunk and have fun with her friends, there was a huge part of her that was still standing in the Edenbrook’s atrium next to Ethan. And without that part, she would never be able to properly enjoy her night out.
With that, she parted her way with her friends, encouraging them to drink for her too and after a while she was alone.
Ethan was clutching the handle of his leather briefcase so hard his knuckles have gone white. He had a reputation, a face to maintain, but the storm inside him was something utterly different than the indifferent expression he has been wearing on his face.
He wanted to follow Chiara, he wanted to spend this evening with her and her only, as she was the only person that could calm the tempestuous waters the storm has been causing.
As she stepped outside, he knew he has hurt her with the uncertainty of his statement and hearing her friends’ cheering and laughing when she joined them stopped him from following her. She needed to be in the company of people who could make her laugh, she deserved to forget about her worries for a while and who was he to take that chance from her?
Who was he to take any chance from her, after all?
The sound of footsteps startled him and his shock has been multiplied as he noticed the person they belonged to.
“I thought you left with your friends,” he spoke after the initial surprise was gone.
Chiara shrugged, stopping in her tracks when she reached him, standing right in front of him. She crossed her arms and even in the darkness of the atrium, Ethan could see the fire blazing in her eyes.
“We need to talk, Ethan.”
She didn’t surprise him, not really. She was brilliant and she could see right through him – he  was
more surprised that she waited so long before demanding a proper conversation.
“We do,” he nodded. “Are you sure you want to talk now? You should be having fun with your friends while you are all in Boston. We can talk tomorrow.”
“We need to talk now. Can we take a walk?”
Knowing that there was no space to refuse, he nodded again and followed her into the night. The  air was chilly, however it smelled like spring and a promise of warmer months to come. Better months to come.
How ironic.
Chiara couldn’t ignore the growing distance between them any longer. Even now, walking next to each other, they didn’t do as much as hold their hands. Ethan’s hand didn’t linger on the small of her back like it used to. There was no random kiss on the top of her head in the middle of their walk. Her arms remained crossed over her chest and Ethan’s hand – the one that wasn’t holding his briefcase – was safely hidden in the pocket of his jacket.
Their walk was silent – both of them expecting the other one to speak first. It was when they reached a park when Chiara couldn’t hold it any longer. Without preparing Ethan – or herself for that matter – for what was about to come, she just spoke before the courage could leave her.
“What is this, Ethan? Because I actually, and probably naively, believed that there was something going on between us. You kissing me at gala like that, you attending the brunch with my friends and referring yourself as my boyfriend? You asking me to spend a weekend with your dad in Providence? I am sorry but all of those things made me believe that what we have is more than just great sex and a dinner from time to time.”
Ethan was standing in the middle of the park, his mouth agape as he stared at the woman he adored so much speaking with such pained tone in her voice. He deserved her words, he knew he deserved them, but it didn’t made it hurt any less.
“Of course there is more that just that between us,” he finally replied, not knowing what else to say. He needed her to understand and he wished she could do it without him having to tell her all those horrible things on his mind.
Chiara found herself repeating Alan’s words from all those weeks ago in her head, reminding her that she needed to be patient.
‘Ethan can be difficult. I beg you to be patient with him when things get difficult. You are the only person I have ever believed could make Ethan truly and unconditionally happy.’
“Then why are you so cold, Ethan? Why have you been so fucking distant?” she asked, tears threatening to fall from her eyes. “I have tried my best to be patient Ethan. I have tried so damn hard, because I realize that Edenbrook’s closing and all the changes in your life are just too much now, but you are not the only one whose life has been too much lately. I have given you time and space and all the empathy I could and I geniuely believed that we would make things work in the end, but after today, I stopped believing. How could you say that? After everything we’ve been through, how dare you to say that you can’t say what the future brings? I am asking you, how fucking dare you Ramsey?”
That was it. All the air left Ethan’s lungs at her words and he found the world spinning around him, unable to stop the feeling of losing the ground under his feet. He stumbled to the nearest bench and sat down, taking deep breaths to steady himself. He knew he owed
Chiara a lot of explaining, that she deserved to know, to understand, but hell, he was scared.
He has become a person that resembled nothing of the great Ethan Ramsey.
When she finds what a mess I am, she will leave. As she should.
“There are things I haven’t been telling you. About myself. I… I am a mess, Chiara. With my mother back and Edenbrook closing and needing to find another job and you needing to find another job… It’s too much for me. But as you said, life has been rough for all of us, not only for me and I couldn’t drag you into my issues when you are fighting your own.”
Chiara sighed and took her seat next to Ethan, taking his cold hand into hers as she whispered: “Tell me everything, please. I need your honesty more than anything, Ethan.”
Ethan closed his eyes, allowing himself the mercy of not seeing the disappointment in Chiara’s face as he spoke.
“Ever since I left my mother at the rehab center, I come to visit her there every week. And every time I am with her, there are two sides of me, two sets of feelings fighting each other. There is Ethan, even after everything that has been done, is happy to have his mother back in his life, the one that is able to laugh with her, to bring her a damn photo. And there is another Ethan, the one that still hates her for leaving him and leaving his father, the one that hates her for taking away his chance to grow up without a fear of being left alone.”
He fell silent for a while and even though he felt Chiara’s gentle squeeze on his hand, encouraging him to continue, he didn’t dare to open his eyes and look into Chiara’s ones.
“And it’s confusing, you know? I hate being confused and I often wonder if giving her a second chance was a good thing, if it wouldn’t be easier to leave her in the past and just hate her for the rest of my life. And Edenbrook’s closing… I never thought that it would affect me so much. It’s not really about the hospital, damn it’s not even about moving away from Boston, it’s about you, Chiara. I’ve got some offers and some of them are really tempting, but I couldn’t bring myself to accept any of them, because I can’t leave Boston if you stay here. And I can’t ask you to go with me to New York or Los Angeles, if you wish to stay here. You are going to be the best doctor, the best diagnostician of your generation Chiara and nobody can doubt that. So who am I to take your chances away from you? Finishing your residency in a hospital of your choice, in a hospital that could provide the best learning environment for you is the most important thing for you and I would never forgive myself if you wasted your potential because I selfishly dragged you to the hospital I chose. And if you found your dream hospital, I would go with you, of course I would, but why would you want me to follow you? You are capable of making a change in medicine without me and you deserve to own your success.”
He gulped visibly, the lump forming in his throat making it hard to continue. What he said was true – he couldn’t see Chiara needing him, wherever she decides to go. The fact that it was true didn’t mean it didn’t hurt him to say it out loud.
Lost in his thoughts, he didn’t hear Chiara mutter: “This is the most idiotic thing I have ever heard.”
“And of course, there’s the thing… Every time I imagine you moving away, my mind starts spiraling down the memory lane until it crashes with the memory of the attack. And that’s when things start to get ugly for me. Do you remember what I told you after the funeral? About my fear of leaving you alone?”
He opened his eyes at last to see her reaction and as she nodded quietly, he continued.
“The fear is still there, Chiara. I still feel it every day, from the moment I wake up to the moment I fall asleep and some nights, that fear wakes me up. And ever since I’ve known that we wouldn’t be able to work together anymore, it has gotten worse. Sometimes I can’t catch my breath. Sometimes, my hands start to shake. Sometimes, my vision gets blurry. I just sit on the couch in my dark living room and replay every possible scenario in my head, every possibility of what could happen if we don’t work together. Few days ago, I have gotten to this point too and I imagined that you would work in a different state and there would be another attack and I wouldn’t be there to help you, to save you. To hold your hand. That I would receive a call from your mother telling me that you were gone, that you died while I worked thousand miles away from you. The next thing I know, I’m bent over my toilet, throwing up.”
His voice cracked and Chiara could see fresh tears falling down from his still closed eyes. He was clutching on her hand now, as if it was to make sure that she was still there, that she was alive and next to him.
“I’m a mess, Chiara, you know? I am a fucking mess and you deserve to be with someone who can make you feel safe, who can take your worries away from you. You deserve to laugh and dance and joke around, you deserve to hear all those sweet things I haven’t said until now, you deserve to be with someone who doesn’t go crazy every time you don’t pick up your phone, imagining the worst scenarios. You deserve to be with someone who agrees to do every stupid dangerous thing with you, someone who is easy to be around, someone without so much issues, someone young and happy. I am old and broken and difficult. And I thought, I hoped that maybe if I put some distance between us, that maybe it would be easier. That my fear would diminish, that it would be easier for you to leave and for me to be left.”
He finally opened his eyes fully, looking at the signs of disgust and disappointment he expected to see on Chiara’s face.
Instead, he found her staring at him with expression so gentle, so full of affection and pain and understanding.
“First of all, you are not that old,” she chuckled, not being able to keep the remark to herself. “You are practically a millennial!”
Ethan shook his head, but there were signs of amusement on the corners of his lips and Chiara decided to take that as her personal win.
“Have you ever considered that maybe I want to be part of your mess, Ethan?” she asked quietly, all traces of joking gone. “That I don’t want to be with anyone else, no matter how difficult it gets between us? Have you ever thought that maybe I have chosen you as you are, the difficult, broken Ethan?”
There was a long silence. Chiara didn’t quite expect him to answer and Ethan had no idea how to answer that.
Of course it never occurred to him. He never believed that she would want to be with him if she knew what an anxious chaos he was.
“I need you to answer my next question and I need you to be honest.”
“Of course,” he answered immediately.
“Do you care about my career or about my happiness?”
The question took Ethan by surprise. Was that some kind of trick? A test he was supposed to pass? Those two things appeared strongly correlated to Ethan.
“What are you asking, Chiara?”
“My career or my happiness, Ethan?”
“Your happiness,” he answered at last.
“Then we are stuck together. Because my happiness is with you, Ethan. I can pursue an amazing career and still be terribly unhappy if you are not part of my life.”
Ethan shook his head again, his whole body tensing at those words. He hated himself for putting her into such position.
“That’s the problem Chiara, don’t you understand? You shouldn’t have to decide between me and your career. You are young, your whole life, your whole career ahead of you. I can’t be the one to cut your opportunities short because I am selfish and want to be with you.”
She laughed softly to herself, tracing his knuckles with her thumb, the gesture that usually worked the other way around for them.
“Life is not a fairytale, Ethan. I am not a princess that can have it all. Right now I have to choose and I am choosing you. And that doesn’t mean I am giving up on my career, for God’s sake. Of all the people, you are the one to know why I became a doctor. I never did it because I dreamed of being famous or rich or speak on conferences. I became a doctor to help people, to make a change in their lives and I can do that in any hospital, any. Hell, if we decide to move to Cambodia tomorrow and help people there, I am in. I don’t care about being the best diagnostician of my generation, I don’t care about awards and people praising me. I thought you knew that.”
There was a sadness in her voice as she said the last sentence. It hurt her that after two years, Ethan believed that she would want the career of a famous doctor over anything else.
“I love you,” she whispered, not looking into his eyes. “And I have loved you for a long time. I was afraid to tell you because I believed that it would scare you off and you would distance yourself, but look at us, distancing anyway. So here it is. I love you and it makes me staggeringly sad that you don’t allow yourself to believe that. That you expect me to leave.”
Taking a deep breath, she played with her options. She could just stop now, with her heart already on her sleeve. Or she could push him even more, pouring her everything out.
“I can’t force you to want to be with me, obviously. So trust me, if you decide that whatever it is between us, is over, I will let you go and I will move on. Because my life wouldn’t end, because I would have to move on. But I am not your kid Ethan, I am not even your intern anymore. I am an adult, a woman capable of deciding what I want. And I want you, Ethan. With every difficulty ahead of us, I want you.”
Unable to contain himself any longer, Ethan wrapped Chiara’s whole frame into his arms, hugging her with a force he has never hugged her before.
They were both messy now, a tangle of arms and kisses, Ethan’s tears falling into Chiara’s hair, Chiara’s hands clutching the back of Ethan’s jacket.
They hugged and kissed and smiled shyly at one another and then kissed again, not caring about anyone seeing them, about anyone being resentful of such public declaration of their love.
“What if you hate me? When you find out you could have had a better life with someone else, somewhere else but stayed stuck with me instead? What if you hate me then?” Ethan whispered as their lips parted, the terrible feeling of dread in his gut not completely gone.
Chiara cupped his cheeks with both her hands, pulling him closer to her so that she could kiss his forehead with a gentleness only Chiara Ray could ever provide.
“I could never hate you. And you need to stop hating yourself too, Ethan. I chose you and I’ll keep choosing you for as long as you allow me to.”
New tears damped Ethan’s cheeks at her words and even though he always made sure to not to cry when anyone could see him, he didn’t give a single damn now. He was pretty sure she could see his bare soul, so what would be the point of hiding his tears?
“Can I take you home with me?” he whispered and it was when Chiara nodded that the first sincere smile formed on his lips.
*******
Last note: okay I know my MC is terribly in love and willing to stop being the future of medicine for Ethan, I am sorry okay I just can’t make her so career oriented. Also I didn’t want Ethan to say I love you because I hope (I BEG YOU PIXELBERRY) we can get it in next chapter canonically

HPHM April Prompts 2021: Day 6: One Truth, Two Truths, Green Truths, Blue Truths
And I thought yesterday’s prompt was juicy! Here’s day 6 of @stupendousbookworm ‘s #aprilprompts2021!
Prompt # 6 - It's Truth or Dare night! MC and co. sit in a circle for a fun night (with veritaserum for truths!). But when MC picks dare, Penny dares MC and (Love Interest) to play seven minutes in heaven in the broom closet!
‘Hel-ga Huff-le-puff’ Matthew mouthed as he knocked out the rhythm onto the closest barrel.
“That’s it?!” Merula said incredulously. “And it’s always the same barrel?”
“Indeed!” piped up Rowan, “Helga Hufflepuff’s son decided to have it this way as a tribute to her.”
“So?” Merula said, crossing her arms.
Matthew shrugged. “It’s worked for centuries, hasn’t it?”
“Defending a Wizarding Tradition? Who are you and where’s Matthew Luther?” Merula scoffed as the door swung open. There in the doorway stood Penny Haywood.
“Guys! You made it!” Penny exclaimed, letting them into the Common Room. Matthew had never been here before, and was beginning to wish he had found his way here beforehand. It was the very definition of cosy; a circular room filled with plants and a large fireplace at the far end of the room. In the middle of the room was a large cauldron surrounded by chairs, on which were quite a few of Matthew’s friends: Chiara, Tonks, Tulip, Andre, Barnaby, Charlie, Bill, Jae and, much to Matthew’s surprise, Talbott and Ben.
“We were wondering where you were.” Talbott said, eyeing the cauldron in the middle.
“Well, I had to convince these two to come.” he said, gesturing to Rowan and Merula.
“I was just...concerned about being tired tomorrow.” Rowan said, crossing their arms.
“But...it’s Saturday tomorrow, Rowan.” said Penny, a little confused.
“I..well...yes, um...anyway, I’m here!” they declared, sitting down. Their cheeks flushed as Penny sat next to them. That left two empty seats between Penny and Barnaby, which Matthew and Merula filled.
“Alright, you guys came just in time, I think it’s ready now!” announced Penny, stirring the potion in the cauldron. Matthew looked at it, shocked, as did Merula, Rowan and a few others.
“P-Penny...” stammered Rowan, “Is that what I think it is?”
“If what you were thinking was Veritaserum, then yes!” she exclaimed, getting some flasks ready, “When I found out some of you hadn’t tried this, I just had to get everyone here to try it!”
Matthew wasn’t sure he liked where this was going, “Penny, if this is some Wizarding thing, keep in mind that some of us...” he gestured to himself and Ben.
“I also don’t know what we're doing.” admitted Barnaby.
“I’d guessed, Barnaby.” said Merula.
“Well, we’re playing Wizarding Truth or Dare!” Penny declared. There were a few gasps. Bill and Charlie leant forward. Ben looked even more nervous than usual, and Rowan was right there with him. Barnaby still looked confused. Merula kept her face still. Matthew was only slightly nervous. He was with friends, and he knew none of them had any ulterior motives, not even Merula.
“Don’t tell me, we use the Veritaserum so we have to tell the truth?” he asked, gazing at the mixture.
“Very perceptive, Luther.” said Merula. He sighed, having an inkling as to what she was thinking about.
“Before we begin, let’s make a rule.” Matthew said, “Nothing about the Cursed Vaults. If we’re here to have fun, let’s not open that can of worms. Alright?” They all nodded, and he noticed Merula relax.
“Well, if that’s everything, let’s get started. I’ll go first, Bill can choose what happens.”
“Truth!” said Penny.
“The most illegal potion I’ve made? I tried making Felix Felicis once...keyword tried...”
“Dare.” said Bill.
“Alright...four cartwheels...here we-”
“Okay, Impressive.” said Tonks, defeated. “Right, Dare!”
“Impersonate Dumbledore!” Jae declared.
They all watched as Tonks’ pink hair grew and became white, as several wrinkles appeared on her face.
“As Headmaster I declare...” she said in his withery voice.. That you are not allowed to go into the Forest as it is too dangerous...except when we send you there in tournaments or for detention.”
“Not bad...Truth!” said Jae.
“Um..” said Ben, still a little nervous, “The craziest thing you’ve smuggled into the school?”
“Ooh, easy! A live cockatrice!” he said, “That was a wild one...”
“Right...now it’s me...T-Truth.”
This continued, until Tulip was sitting upside down, Charlie was speaking in a French accent and Merula was stroking Matthew’s Niffler Spencer, which she had convinced to follow her back here. They had gone round a few times, and it was now Matthew’s turn. So far, it had not got too...inappropriate, though they did all know one too many facts about Barnaby, and Penny had given Rowan (and everyone else) a reason to go red. Matthew was glad for that, and he wasn’t about to spill anything he didn’t want to.
“Dare.” he said, eyeing Penny nervously. She had that mischievous look that meant ‘I’m about to suggest something for you to do for my enjoyment.’
“I dare you...to spend 7 minutes in heaven with Merula!”
“What?!” they both said at once. Chiara gasped. Tulip laughed out loud. Bill merely smirked.
“There’s a storage room right over there.” The Head Boy said, pointing to the left. Matthew’s brain had fully ground to a halt. He had recently established that he liked Merula, and that he found her to be rather good-looking, but he had never expected something like this to happen so soon, and had reservations about acting on his feelings, especially considering his suspicions. They were both pushed to their feet and moved over to the closet.
“W-Well...look...do we...” Matthew spluttered. Merula looked more annoyed than anything, but at some point it must have occurred to her that she was still under the influence of Veritaserum.
“Oh, oh no...” she whispered. Matthew’s face was bright red, and hers was bright pink as the door to the storage room opened.
“In you go!” Penny said, pushing them in and closing the door. Matthew instinctively  pulled out his wand.
“L-Lumos.” he said hoarsely, illuminating his and Merula’s faces. They were unbearably close together now, the closet they were in being extremely small. Slowly, they both crouched down until sitting on the floor.
“S-So, um...” Merula began, pushing a hand through her hair, “H-how are you holding up, um...”
There were a few snickers from the other side of the door. Matthew scowled, before pointing his wand downward. “Muffliato!” After which, several annoyed grunt noises were heard. The two smirked at each other.
“Thanks.” said Matthew, flicking his wand’s light around.
“Anytime.” she replied sweetly, before illuminating the end of her own wand. Thirty seconds, Matthew’s brain worked. There was another pregnant silence.
“Why did Penny do this?” Merula asked impatiently, kicking at the ground.
“Because she loves to cause gossip and scandal.” Matthew said, “I don’t know what Rowan sees in h-” Oops. Merula leant forward.
“Khanna has a thing for her? Why? They’re so uptight! And she’s...a bimbo!”
“That’s a bit much.” said Matthew an eyebrow raised. “She’s better than any of us at potions.” One minute, Matthew thought to himself. The smirk on Merula’s face suddenly vanished. “Listen...um, I wanted to ask you something.”
“A-Ask what?” Matthew said.
“Why’d you stop them asking about the Cursed Vaults?” she asked, “This would have been the perfect time to oust the Mole.”
Matthew’s stomach began to fold in on itself. He wanted to say that he just wanted to have a good time tonight, and not worry about it, but: “I-I just...I think I already know who the Mole is.” He looked up at her.
Merula stared at him with fear in her eyes. “Wh-Who?”
Matthew didn’t answer. He couldn’t. She already knew the answer. Oh, how he hated seeing her like this. “I...don’t blame you. I-”
“What?! You know now, don’t you! I’m your stupid mole!” she shouted. Matthew flinched at the sound, hoping nobody outside could hear her.
“Yes, I know, but-”
“But what?! What could you possibly want? I don’t know anything! They told me nothing! They used me, and now I’m stuck with them, and now your friends will all abandon me, and…” she realised what she had started to say, and looked down at the floor. Expecting her to stop talking, Matthew extended his hand towards her.
“Merula. Listen to me. You’ve been through things nobody else should be through. I don’t blame you at all.” he announced.
Merula stared at him for a moment, then snorted. Matthew had to stop himself from smiling too, knowing that now wasn’t the time, no matter how adorable he found it.
“You ought to blame me. I’ve tried to kill you so many times. More than that, I doubt your little friend group is going to be as forgiving.”
“I don’t care.” he said simply.
“You don’t...” Merula had to stop and take that into consideration. “Look, I know we’ve...you know, the Celestial Ball and all that, but...it’d make sense for you to be mad at me, wouldn’t it!”
“I don’t care.” he repeated.
“Then...then for a Ravenclaw, you’re...an idiot! Why on earth aren’t you mad at me?!”
“Because I get it. I’ve always understood why you do the things you did.” Matthew explained, moving a step closer.
“H-How...”
“Merula...I grew up in the Muggle world. I had to deal with a lot of...arseholes, but also people who were arses so others wouldn’t bully them. Their insults were always empty. You could tell they were only saying it because someone else had said it.”
They stood in silence for a moment. “I...I see...” Merula said finally. “But it still doesn’t excuse me!”
“I know that. But, I know you’re going to try and make things right.” he said in reply.
“You don’t know that!” she yelled.
“Yes I do.”
“How?! I’m...I’m an awful person! Why would anyone trust me! I’ve been awful to everyone here!” she screeched, tears forming in her eyes. Matthew couldn’t take much more of this. He was trying not to do anything she might protest about, but seeing her like this was so gut-wrenching, that he found himself moving closer, until he held her slender arms in his hands. She pulled back slightly, but returned a few moments later. Tears were now well and truly forming in her eyes.
“I...I’m not a good person...you can’t deny that, can you...” Merula sighed, slowly moving her thumb around Matthew’s wrist. He shook his head.
“Mm...maybe you’re right. Maybe. But I know, deep down, you’re trying to be a better person. And that’s the difference.” He declared.
Merula looked up at him. “I...don’t know what to say...”
“Then you don’t have to say anything.” Matthew said, pulling her into a hug. He’d hoped this would make her feel better, but when she started crying more, he worried that he’d done something wrong and began to soften his grip.
“No...wait, it’s just....been a while since I’ve had a...” he heard, her head resting on his chest. He smiled, and put his arms back around her, feeling his cheeks flush and seeing hers do the same. He’d lost count of how long they were in there, but it couldn’t have been more than 2 minutes. Eventually, Merula moved her head up and looked at him, pushing him up against the wall, moving onto his legs.
“You know...I always thought you were alright. Even when we were enemies, it was sort of...nice, having someone to compete with.”
Matthew’s eyes widened slightly at this, “That’s...really nice of you to say, Merula. I...” he sighed, and took a breath. Having anyone, let alone a girl he really liked being this close to him, was very distracting. “For a while, when we were still in first year, I...didn’t think I could find the Cursed Vaults. I’d...all but assumed that my brother had gone forever. But then...you showed up. And I sort of said to myself, ‘Come on, she’s expecting a challenge now, you can’t let her down,’ and so...I actually tried. And, well, you know the rest...”
“Indeed I do.” she said with a smirk, moving closer to his face. “Remind me why we’re rivals again?”
Matthew returned her smirk. “For the reputation, I assume.” He wasn’t sure which one of them moved first, but they both seemed to have had the same idea, and so before either of them knew it, their lips were together.
It was a bit of a mess, with teeth colliding together at first, but both parties were thoroughly enjoying the experience. Story of our lives, Matthew thought to himself, the chastity of the kiss slowly vanishing as their tongues crossed over each other. He felt an overwhelming desire for more, and so he moved his arms up to Merula’s hair (something he’d wanted to do for the longest time) and grasped it in his hands, Merula then starting to elicit small moans. Still holding Matthew’s arms, she began to move backwards until Matthew had her against the other side of the closet, which quite frankly felt amazing. In fact, as he kissed her, he was surprised to see how little control he had over himself, as his lower quarters began to move of their own accord. Merula didn’t seem to mind much, as her own hips began to buck against his own, until they moved together in a rhythm. The teenagers were both so caught off guard by this that they broke their kiss. Upon seeing their hips moving together, they both broke into laughter, putting their foreheads together as they did so.
“Ah..haha...what even...is this...?” Merula giggled, in a tone of voice that Matthew had never heard from her before. Matthew couldn’t really think of much else to say; his mind was on a lot of other things instead of words, so he started pecking Merula with kisses up and down her face, eventually reaching her shoulders. With the last of his self-control, he pointed his wand at the closet door and whispered, “Colloportus.”, smirking as he heard a click behind him.
“It’s been...six minutes...I think.” he said breathlessly, before pulling her tie away to suck on her neck.
Merula tugged on Matthew’s tie in return. “Better make this count, Luther.” she whispered, her hands moving towards his trousers. For fifty two seconds Matthew and Merula were in absolute bliss.
Matthew had started fiddling with Merula’s top bottom when the door shook. “Hey! Your seven minutes are up!” yelled Penny.
“Alohomora...” he muttered, unlocking the door. Then, he noticed a small mark on Merula’s neck from where he’d been kissing it. “Episkey”, he whispered, watching it disappear.
“Thanks.” said Merula, straightening her tie. They pushed open the door, and saw everyone crowded around the door, including Spencer the Niffler.
“Well?” Andre asked, “What happened?”
“Ah, It’s Penny’s turn.” Matthew reminded him. All eyes fell on the blonde Hufflepuff.
“D-Dare.” she said finally. Matthew smirked. He pointed at her, pointed at Rowan, then pointed at the closet. Rowan went an even deeper red. Penny also went a shade pinker, getting up and moving towards the closet. Before she did, however, she pulled Matthew close and whispered in his ear:
“You resisted Andre’s question. There’s only one trigger for that to happen with my Veritaserum.” she said, giving him a silent wave before entering the closet, closing the door behind her and Rowan.

CHAPTER 9 - Light
Words count: 5 000 + Warnings: cursing, hints of sex Author’s note: 1) I am sorry for The Queen references, it was not planned at all but I got carried away 2) Chiara has Ethan saved as “Jonah” in her phone, because she always forgets her phone at nurse’s station and E.R. and Donahue’s, everywhere, and so to decrease the chance of exposing them, it’s Jonah 3) I didn’t check the mistakes yet, so I am sorry for them. ENJOY!
-------------    LIGHT    ------------
For the first time ever, their lips met in a kiss that didn’t taste like regrets, doubts and sorrow.
For the first time ever they kissed with hope and promises and happiness.
Their lips met in a newfound feeling of odd security, something that has never happened before, as the threat of regrets always hung over their heads. The kiss started out as almost shy, Ethan’s lips brushing Chiara’s ever so softly, afraid of ruining the sacred moment if he allowed his yearning to take a full lead. But soon it was Chiara who opened her mouth slightly, inviting him to make sure that she still tasted like the Chiara he kissed at Mass Kenmore all those months ago.
The concept of time long forgotten by the couple of doctors as they discovered their new normal, kissing until the air around them changed, until the heat their bodies produced was enough for them to finally break the connection. With their cheeks flushed, hair dishelved, the buttons of Ethan’s shirt undone, they looked at each other intensively while catching their breaths.
„I think we should stop here,“ Ethan broke the silence at last.
„Are you already stepping back?“ Chiara asked with a teasing smile, which was supposed to hide her tremendou fear that Ethan actually was stepping back.
He chuckled at the question and took her hands into his, slowly running his thumb along her knuckles.
„I screwed up a lot in the past. I simply want to make things right this time. And taking you here at my couch when two hours ago I didn’t believe you would ever want to forgive me again, that doesn’t feel right. We still have a conversation to make. And I would like to at least make you a dinner before we take the… next step.“
„Good old fashioned lover boy, huh?“ she couldn’t help but tease him again.
„Are you seriously quoting Queen on me now? You know I am Under Pressure.“
„You know Queen lyrics?“ she laughed and decided to continue the little game. „That is, indeed, Miracle.“
„You underestimate me, Rookie. The show must go on.“
„Oh, Ramsey, you have no idea what you’ve gotten yourself into with this little Queen references competition. My dad loved Freddie Mercury. I know every single lyrics. Don’t stop me now.“
„I am afraid I have to. We seriously need to talk. But you are still my Killer Queen,“ he smiled as he kissed her forehead.
He leaned back into to couch, pulling Chiara towards him, until her head rested on his lap and he could play with her hair. Her hands rested in her own lap, fingers nervously fidgeting at the thought of another serious talk. No matter how hard she tried to trust him completely, the little part of her was simply too afraid to do so. Tha little part expected to hear that it was a mistake and they needed to be professional again.
Ethan observed Chiara’s furrowed brows and her slightly shaking hands and how she kept biting her lower lips and he hated himself, knowing that she was this nervous because of him. Because he hurt her and left her and pushed her away so many times, that she couldn’t trust him fully anymore. He hated every part of his own self and he knew he deserved the hate.
„As I said previously, I want to make things right this time, Chiara. Which means that we need to talk even about uncomfortable things and that I want to stand by your side every step of the way and that I never want to hurt you again. Never in my life have I felt this way, not with Marial, not with Harper, never. And honestly, Chiara, it terrifies me. These feelings, I am so scared. I have always believed that I know who I am, that nothing can surprise me anymore and then you walked into Edenbrook and… well, I was fucked. I found out that I couldn’t recall who I was anymore, because I was changing and as a man who hates change, I fought it all I could. Until I could. And I can’t anymore, I can’t fight against you, but this new reality, it still scares me.“
His voice was trembling now, thick with emotion. He wanted to say so much more, he wanted to tell her how sorry he was that she had to deal with this broken piece of man, that he knew he would hurt her again despite his best efforts to not to. He wanted to tell her how much he loved her. So desperately did he wish he could just express how he felt, but all the words got stuck in his throat and so he just stared at the black screen of television in front of him and hated himself even more.
Chiara wasn’t staring at the ceiling anymore, rather watching Ethan’s expressions as he finished his speech. She reached his left cheek with her hand and caressed him softly.
„I am here, Ethan. No matter how scary it gets, I am here, okay? You don’t need to tell me everything now. Or ever, for that matter. I know.“
Finally he looked down at her and the intensity of compassion in her stare made him want to cry.
How did I ever deserve a woman like you?
He cupped her hand on his cheek and leaned into her touch, closing his eyes to compose himself.
Clearing his throat to make sure he wouldn’t actually start crying, he decided to start the uncomfortable conversation.
„I want to be with you, Chiara. With my whole being, I wish to be with you. But your career is only starting and you are more than just brilliant doctor. You are destined to be the best one of your generation.“
He felt Chiara tense in his lap as she opened her mouth to fight him.
„Just let me say this, okay?“ he stopped her before she could say anything. „Being with you is not illegal. It’s not even fobidden and we both know that Naveen would never disapprove of our relationship. It’s unprofessional and probably unethical, but that doesn’t matter. If we decided to go public, it wouldn’t cost you – or me – the job at Edenbrook. And as someone who has worked there for eleven years now, it would hardly affect me anyhow. But you, Chiara, your reputation…“ Ethan ran his free hand through his hair before continuing. „At the moment, everyone at the hospital knows that you are amazing doctor. Fellow residents, nurses, even attendings, they respect you, because you earned it. But if they find out about us, no matter how hard you worked to earn that respect, it will be forgotten. You will be the resident that’s dating Dr. Ramsey and therefore gets the special treatment. And nobody would give a damn about the fact that I am harder on you than on anyone else. Nobody would care, because rumours are rumours and all the respect that you earned, it would be gone. I don’t care what they have to say about me, but you are young and promising and I can’t let my need to be with you officially stand in the way of your progress. Obviously, I am not letting you go either and so one of the options is for us to be in a secret relationship until your residency is over.“
Chiara raised her eyebrow at him and asked: „One of the options? I don’t think there are any other options.“
„Of course there are. I get that keeping this a secret will be hard, that it wouldn’t be the relationship you deserve. So if you are not willing to do that, which I absolutely understand, I will transfer into another hospital.“
„What?“ Chiara all but shouted and abruptly sat up, looking at him with wide eyes. „You would never do that. Edenbrook is the best hospital in Boston. It’s your life. You belong to Edenbrook.“
„I like to think that I belong to you, Chiara,“ he smiled. „Yes, Edenbrook has been my life for the past eleven years, but it’s caring about the patients that brings me joy, not the hospital itself. And there are patients in other hospitals in Boston. Nothing in Edenbrook makes me feel as happy as you do, Dr. Ray. Just say a word and I’ll be gone.“
Since when are you such a softie, Ramsey?
„That would be so stupid, Ethan. It’s just a year and half until my residency is over. I think we are both capable of keeping things secret for that long. Iť’s not like we would make out in the waiting room anyway.“
Ethan let out a whole-hearted laugh, tension leaving his shoulders. He was serious when he said that he would leave Edenbrook because of her, but knowing that she didn’t want him to, that she respected his career as much as he respected hers, brought him soothing sense of relief.
„There is one thing, though,“ Chiara said. „I am okay with keeping things secret with most people, but if it’s alright with you, I feel the need to tell my friends. My roommates and Bryce. They are the people I trust with my life and I know that they would never spread the rumours. It would be much easier for me if they just knew, if I didn’t have to make up excuses about where do I spend my evening or a weekend. But only if it doesn’t bother you.“
Ethan shrugged, not surprised by her suggestion. Her friends were her supporting net and ever since the accident, he could see just how much they meant to each other. And for that, he was happy.
„I honestly believe that they already have their ideas about us. If you trust them, then it’s okay by me.“
Chiara smiled at him and raised from his lap, so that she could kiss him. With one hand on the back of his neck she straddled him, her free hand drawing teasing circles on his bare chest. His grip on her hips got stronger and his resolution to make it right this time was slowly decreasing with every swirl of her tongue in his mouth.
„Do you want to stay a night?“ he whispered when he pulled back, his voice raspy.
Chiara laughed softly and shook her head, wanting to ask him if he would cook the dinner now, so that they could finish what has been started.
„Sienna would go crazy with fear if I didn’t come home tonight and I don’t want to tell her I am staying with you through the phone. They all have a day off tomorrow, I’ll tell them at brunch we have planned.“
„Yes. Sure. That’s… reasonable. I am working tomorrow, but I have a free Sunday, so what do you say about me picking you up tomorrow evening, making you a dinner and you staying here for the night and then on Sunday?“
„That definitely sounds like a plan,“ she grinned and crashed his lips with hers once again.
˜
The brunch was reaching its end, all the spinach quiche has been eaten, mini chocolate tarts made by Sienna in the hands of young doctors and Chiara still couldn’t find her courage to tell them. By the look Sienna gave her last night when she got home, Chiara knew that she was waiting for some kind of explanation and as much as she trusted them to be supportive and happy for her, she felt extremely nervous to drop this bomb.
„Guys, I.. uhm, well.. I kinda have to tell you something. I’ve got some news.“
„Are you moving out?“ Jackie raised her eyebrow.
„Don’t tell us you are transferring to Mass Kenmore too,“ Elijah added.
Chiara laughed and looked at Sienna, who – with a smug smile on her face – nodded softly, sign of encouraging her to simply say it.
„No, I am not moving out and I am not transferring. It’s about Dr. Ramsey.“
„What about him? Is he transferring?“ Elijah gasped again, eyes wide with shock.
„You really haven’t gotten past my transferring E, have you?“ Aurora chuckled.
„He is not,“ Chiara took a deep breath. „Last night he gave me a ride home from the party and we had a chance to talk about… lot of things and we decided to give it a shot. To give a relationship a shot, I mean. We have had feelings for each other for some time now and he never wanted us to be more than collegues but now he kinda changed his mind? However, it needs to be a secret until I am an attending, but I needed to tell you because I can’t keep secrets from you and I love you and I just want you to know that I am dating Ethan Ramsey.“
She expected them to be shocked. Maybe to tease her. She expected the long stunned silence she knows from movies. Despite her hope, she even expected them to be angry or to despise her. What she didn’t expect was their soft laughter and Jackie’s question: „Okay, and now the news? I thought you wanted to share some news with us.“
„That is the news!“ Chiara exclaimed, throwing her hands in the air.
„Oh,“ she breathed out and then added. „I think I am saying this for all of us Chiara – coming clear with your feelings and making things official between the two of you, that’s great. Really, good for you. We are happy. But saying that it’s news? Pleaaaase, we all have known for some time now that you two had something going on.“
„She is right,“ Aurora nodded, grinning.
Chiara sat there with her mouth open, looking from one face to another and really, they all simply smiled knowingly, without a sign of surprise or anger.
„We are really, really happy for you, Chiara. You deserve to be happy and so does Dr. Ramsey, I guess,“ Sienna smiled and hugged Chiara tightly.
„But if he ever hurts you, I am going to kick his balls,“ Jackie couldn’t help but add, joining the hug. Soon, they were all hugging and suddenly, it wasn’t about Chiara and Ethan at all, it was about the friends that support each other through thick and thin, it was about the love they shared.
˜
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Chiara couldn’t suppress the smile that spread across her face as she read that one text over and over again.
She would swear that Ethan didn’t really have to get back to work and only wrote that so that he wouldn’t have to carry on with the conversation. She could just imagine how hard it must have been for him to write those words to her and was pretty sure that his cheeks blushed the bright pink colours she adored so much.
˜
As he promised, Ethan parked his car outside Chiara’s apartment at six and since all her roommates have already known about them, he decided to pick her up instead of just calling her to come out.
No matter how many times he told himself that it wasn’t such a big deal, that she spent the night at his place already, he still felt incredibly nervous. What if she didn’t like the dinner he would cook? What if she realized that she actually didn’t want to spend her night and Sunday with him? What if she started to feel the same hatred he felt for himself, because he wasn’t capable of telling her how he really felt while looking into her eyes?
Shaking his head abruptly to get the thoughts out of it, he knocked on the door, hoping that it would be Chiara who opened them.
It was Sienna.
„Dr. Trinh,“ he nodded towards her and seeing her expression, he corrected himself. „Sienna. Good evening.“
„Nice to see you, Dr. Ramsey!“ she smiled. „Come in, I’ll go tell Chiara you are here.“
He stepped into the apartment, watching her back as she walked towards Chiara’s room. Before she could step in, she turned at him once again and added: „I am really happy for you two, Dr. Ramsey.“
„Ethan is just fine, Sienna,“ he said, right corner of his lip lifting softly. „And thank you.“
Soon, Chiara stepped out of her room and smiled oh so brightly when she noticed him standing in the hall. Before she approached him, she hugged Sienna quickly and whispered something into her ear, at which Sienna grinned mischievously.
„Shall we?“ he asked as he pressed his lips against her temple. Chiara simply nodded and followed him into his car, suppressing the need to pinch herself to make sure that any of this was real.
˜
After they finished the dinner – Georgian stuffed chicken, which he promised her all those months ago – they found themselves tangled on his couch, glasses of fine wine in their hands. Chiara insisted on talking about work and Ethan insisted on talking about anything but work.
Before they could argue about why they should or shouldn’t talk about work, they weren’t talking about anything anymore, using their lips for much more pleasing activities.
Covering her petite form with his body, Ethan broke the kiss only to continue pressing his lips on her jawline, on the spot behing her left ear that he knew would make her moan and then sucking on her neck gently. His hands roamed her torso under the sweater she was wearing and just as he was about to tuck the sweater up, Chiara opened her eyes and pushed his hands away.
„Don’t,“ she whispered, shame written all over her face.
Ethan’s brows furrowed at the sudden change in the mood, but of course he immediately stopped in his tracks.
„Sure. Yes, I am really sorry, Chiara. I didn’t intend to be inappropriate. I am really sorry.“
„It’s not that, Ethan,“ she breathed out, her voice so small he almost missed what she was saying. „It’s not about me not wanting… you. Just… well, the accident and then the surgery left me terribly scarred. There are hideous scars all over my stomach and some on my chest too and I don’t want you to see how ugly it all is.“
His chest tightened at her words and he caressed her cheekbone so softly she felt like she was making the touch up.
„Oh, Chiara,“ he whispered. „Don’t ever say something like that ever again, okay? Nothing on your body is hideous. Could I see them, please?“
She nodded and closed her eyes as he rolled her sweater up to her breasts, not wanting to see his expression when he’d see how destroyed her body was.
Keeping her eyes shut, she couldn’t tell if he even looked at her at all, but the fact that for a moment there was no movement around her and no sound that would break the heavy silence of the room was enough for her to think of the worst.
He is disgusted by how I look.
The light warmth of his fingers on her stomach made her open her eyes.
Ethan’s gaze, fixed on her abdomen, was so intense and so adoring it brought tears into her eyes. He traced every single one of her scars with his thumb so softly, so gently it almost tickled. After observing her, he lowered his head and put a feather-like kiss on the first scar while whispering „you are beautiful“. Then the second one („and you are beautiful“) and the third one right over her left breast („and you are beautiful“).
„And you are the most beautiful,“ he whispered as he raised his eyes to look into Chiara’s green ones. She had to close them again, overwhelmed by the gentlesness in his voice and his actions.
Returning to kissing her fiercely, Ethan ran his hand up and down her thigh while sucking and biting the soft flesh above her hip.
„That’s going to leave a mark,“ Chiara all but moaned.
„Nobody will see it here,“ Ethan murmured, not concerned about her words at all. „Or will they?“ he added quickly, looking back at her, his eyes dark with lust and also… was it possiblity of jealousy?
Shaking her head, Chiara got rid of her sweater and started to work on the buttons of Ethan’s shirt, not patient enough to be teased without feeling his skin on hers.
Taking a clue, Ethan ceased the movements of his mouth on her hips only to take her into his arms and bring her into his bedroom, so that they could finish what they started in the comfort of his king-sized bed.
˜
Monday morning came all too quickly for their liking and as excited as Chiara was to get back to work, the comfort and security of Ethan’s apartment were enough for her to complain when she had to leave it.
Ethan and Chiara drove to the hospital together, however once they’ve gotten to the parking lot, Chiara decided to leave the car first while Ethan waited some time longer, so that they wouldn’t raise a suspicion. Once seated in the diagnostics office, Chiara sent a quick message to Ethan that it was safe for him to come to work now.
The door opened after a while and in came both male doctors of the team, Ethan’s expression neutral, while Baz Mirani almost jumped of joy when he noticed Chiara behind the round table.
„Oh, my favourite doctor is back! I am so happy you are here now, Chiara, working with those two grumpies without you was a torture!“
„Excuse me?“ Ethan raised his eyebrow at the remark.
„I am happy to be back too, Baz,“ Chiara laughed, ignoring Ethan’s (pretended) offended expression and stood up to hug Baz tightly.
„You still have a cane?“
„Yup. hopefully not forever, though. It’s more an accessory now,“ she grinned.
„Cool!“ Baz exclaimed. „We should call you Dr. House while you have it! Right, Ethan?“
Ethan’s confussion – unlike his offended face – wasn’t an act when he innocently asked: „And why would we do that?“
Chiara and Baz exchanged an amused look at Ethan’s hopeless unfamiliarity with mainstream hospital dramas, while he watched them both with his brows furrowed, knowing too well that they would tease him for it for days.
˜ Weeks turned into months and by March, Chiara felt as if the accident happened years ago. She didn’t need the cane anymore – which made Baz both happy (for her) and sad (because the Dr. House jokes had to stop) – and with the amount of nights she’s been spending with Ethan, even her nightmares have seemed to disappear.
„Dr. Ray,“ Ethan acknowleged her presence as he reached the nurse’s station. „I was about to page you. We have a patient to see.“
Without saying a word, Chiara followed him to the room, listening to the information he was sharing with her: „Ellie Barnes, five years old. Losing weight, severe headaches, stomach cramps. Her mother brought her here this morning with fever.“
With the list of possible diagnoses in her head, Chiara walked into the room, ready to talk to the little girl. However, before she could open her mouth, Ethan approached the bed Ellie was laying in and smiled down at her.
The little gril with wide smile and curly blonde hair, dressed in pink pajamas with Rapunzel on top of the shirt, was hugging her princess doll tightly, while her mother kept stroking her hair gently.
„Hello, Ellie. I am Dr. Ethan and this is Dr. Chiara. We will take care of you while you are here.“
„Are you my prince?“ Ellie asked immediately.
Ethan laughed softly at the proposition, but shook his head.
„I am afraid I might be too old to be your prince, but I could be your knight. What do you say about that? I will be the night that will fight all the bad things that are making you feel sick now.“
„Okay,“ Ellie shrugged. „Knight sounds good.“
„In that case, Princess Ellie, we will need to draw some blood so that we can discover the villain in your body and fight it.“
„Will you hold my hand, Dr. Knight Ethan?“
Kneeling next to her bed, Ethan took her small hand into his huge one and smiled even wider at the princess girl.
„Of course I will. And Dr. Chiara here, she could be the fairy in our story, hm? Well, she will draw the blood and talk to your mom, okay?“
Ellie nodded, hugging her doll even tighter with one hand, while Ethan rubbed the other with his thumb.
„You were pretty good with her,“ Chiara said as they left Ellie’s room to run the tests.
„I am pretty good with all my patients, Dr. Ray,“ Ethan grinned.
„Well, yeah, you are, but you know what I mean. I have never seen you with kid patient before, I guess. It just surprised me to see how natural you were with Ellie.“
„I like kids.“ Ethan shrugged, not knowing how to react to Chiara’s compliment.
And I can never give them to you, she thought bitterly, biting her lip so that she wouldn’t ruin their day by the remark if she said it aloud.
˜
That evening, Ethan found himself sitting on his couch with Jenner’s head in his lap, reading a medical journal, when the comfortable silence of the apartment was disturbed by ringing of his phone.
„Chiara? Is everything alright?“ he picked it up, horror audible in his voice.
„Yes, sure. I am fine. I was just wondering if I could come in tonight?“
„Aren’t Tuesday nights reserved for your roommates?“
„Yeah, but they decided to have a group date night and since Elijah is taking Phebe and Sienna is taking Danny, I can’t bring you with me and I don’t feel like going alone. So, um.. I thought that maybe you wouldn’t mind if I came?“
„Of course you can come. Do you need me to pick you up?“
„Nope. I’ll be there in an hour.“
˜
„Okay Ethan, I need you to tell me what’s wrong. Did I interrupt your peaceful evening? Should I go home?“
Chiara’s been at Ethan’s place for more than an hour now and his mood was only getting worse. Not wanting to talk about it, he left her in the dark, only guessing what was wrong.
„No, don’t go home, please,“ he finally responded. „It’s not about you. Just… argh, I am just so angry.“
„With me?“
„No! With myself. With circumstances. With life.“
„Did something happen at work?“
Ethan sighed, running a hand through his hair. Wearing a gray Henley t-shirt with dark jeans made him look younger, more relaxed and yet, at this very moment, Ethan Ramsey looked simply… defeated.
„After you called me, I had to think about what you said. That you can’t bring me with you because there are people who don’t know about us. And it got me thinking, it made me admit the one thing I’ve been so afraid to admit.“
„What are you talking about?“ Chiara asked gently, taking his hand between hers.
„I am so scared that you will sooner or later realize that you could have so much better than me, Chiara,“ he whispered, voice heavy with fear and vulnerability. „That you deserve so much more. You deserve a relationship in which your man takes you out for a dinner and holds your hand in public and kisses you in the middle of the street. You deserve to be able to bring your boyfriend with you when meeting your friends. You deserve so much more than sneaking around and having dinner at my apartment, making sure that nobody sees us holding hands or being careful to not to stare at each other for too long in the hospital halls, because that would be suspicious. And I can’t give you what you deserve. Lahela could give you that. Aveiro could give you that. Goddamnit anyone could give you that, anyone but me. And I dread the day you realize all of this and leave me. Because neither of us got what we deserved. You’ve gotten much less with me than what you deserve. I, on the contrary, have gotten so, so, so much more with you, than what I deserve. And it’s not fair.“
There was a long silence. All Ethan could hear was his drumming heart in his ears.
„I knew what I’ve gotten myself into when we agreed to give us a try, Ethan,“ Chiara broke the silence at last, her voice barely above whisper. „I know who you are and I am very aware of what we can and cannot be. I am also aware of what I could have with other boys. I am a grown woman, Ethan, I can make my decisions and I realize the consequences of them. And I need you to listen to me now. I want to be with you, Ethan Jonah Ramsey. I would rather sneak around with you and hide in your apartment than hold my hands in public with anyone else. I chose you and I keep choosing you every day. You need to start believing that you are good enough. Not only for me, for everyone. Because you are enough, Ethan.“
The next moment, Chiara felt like she was being crushed by the force with which Ethan hugged her. She could swear she felt his tears moisten the skin under her hair, however before she could confirm her suspicion by looking up at Ethan, he cleared his throat and gently pulled away, standing up from the couch.
„I’ll be right back,“ he murmured and left the living room.
When he got back, he played with his antique phonograph for a while and as the room was filled with gentle tones of one of Frank Sinatra’s songs, he lit up three candles and switched the lights off.
Only then he approached Chiara, still sitting on his couch and with almost shy expression that adorned his face, he asked: „Can I have this dance?“
With a brught smile, Chiara stood up and took his hand, the other one landing on his chest.
„I would never believe that Ethan Ramsey owned candles,“ she teased him.
„In fact, I like candles very much. I enjoy staring into the fire and since this apartment doesn’t have a fireplace, I light up the candles from time to time and just look at them while listening to Vivaldi’s Four Seasons.“
She smiled at the picture forming in her head, Ethan’s relaxed form with glass of whiskey in his hand, softly humming into the tones of violin, thoughtfully looking into the small flame of a candle.
They slowly swayed in the middle of the room, Chiara’s head resting just under Ethan’s shoulder, while he kept kissing the top of her head, his eyes closed.
How did I get this lucky?
The thought ran in Chiara’s head over and over.
What did I do to deserve this? was the one Ethan kept replaying in his mind.
„Thank you. For having me,“ he whispered into her hair.
„Thank you for letting me have you.“

Penny Haywood x MC (3)- It's always you
Game: Harry Potter Hogwarts Mystery
Things to note: The finale for this wholesome little series Do let me know if you wish to see something with Merula, tulip or another  scenario with the lovely Penny Haywood!
____________________
It's always you
The train had stopped moving, I had arrived at my destination, Hogsmeade. Apparently, Hogwarts was sometimes too exotic for its own good, I was still missing some of the ingredients for the soup I needed, so I asked Chiara to stay behind and take care of our mutual friend while I settled this down
I stepped down and headed into the cold, but cozy streets of this village. To Think Penny and I were just yesterday, to stop right in front of Hogwarts for a snow fight...come to think of it, that little adventure of ours was the reason I was here again in such short notice
Once in Hogsmeade, I took out a small note, detailing the ingredients I still needed for-
"Y/N! WATCH OUT!!"
I quickly looked away from my note and managed to duck just in time for a fanged frisbee to fail in decapitating me, just my luck. I then studied where it came from, and sure enough, I found a girl with short, spiky pink hair.
She was Nymphadora Tonks, a prankster, and friend I did near the end of our second year, quite an interesting addition to Hufflepuff if you ask me. Wait, how come every friendly face I've found so far is a Hufflepuff? Note to self, investigate later
"I'm so sorry, Y/N! I didn't see you just standing there! I knew that testing that frisbee out in the open wouldn't be much of a good idea"
She ran to me and helped me up while explaining herself. I found it hard to be mad at her, at least she warned me this time
"Well, I wouldn't exactly describe Hogsmeade as "out in the open", you know?"
"Huh...another point to you"
I could tell she had not quite thought about it that way, perhaps she was so anxious to test her new contraption that she forgot about the safety of everybody else...why does that sound familiar?
"Anyway, what brings you to Hogsmeade?"
Her tone softens as she makes that question, and sure enough, caught my attention again
"I'm looking for some ingredients, it's important"
I handed her the note I was reading before our...err...encounter, she came up with an idea surprisingly quick
"Say no more, I think I saw a place on my way here, c' mon!"
Tonks started to lead the way without even asking me, she just threw herself to help me. I swear I'm ridiculously lucky to have friends like these sometimes
And so, we went deeper into the streets of the village and under Tonk's guidance, we found a place called "Dogweed and Deathcap", not exactly what I was looking for, but it would have to do
We approached the building, I held the door open for my friend, who thanked me with a smile before we both got in. The man working there greeted us and asked if we were looking for something in particular, to which I answered by explaining the ingredients I needed for my...potion, yes, it would be best to call it like that for the moment
Fortunately enough, they had the components and pointed us to the direction of where they were placed. This was going better than I thought, yet I could not feel my concern for Penny get any weaker if anything I was cursing myself for taking so long
"Wotcher, Y/N! I've never seen you so focused before! This potion must be quite important to you"
She was definitely referring to the notable absence of jokes or comments on my behalf, truth to be told, I could hardly think of any at the moment
"As a matter of fact, it is" I answered while placing the things on the counter, waiting for the
employee to charge me what was needed
There was silence after that, I handed the money and we took our leave, however, as soon as we left the store, I heard my companion's voice yet again
"Oi, Y/N, can I ask you something?"
We didn't stop walking since time was of the essence, but she certainly had my attention
"Go ahead"
"I'm not Snape to know every potion in existence, but I don't think that what we gathered were ingredients for a potion..."
Bugger, she was on to me
"...Is it for Penny?"
Out of pure surprise, I stopped walking to look at her, miserably failing to mask my surprise
"How do you know?"
A smirk decored her face for a couple of seconds, proud she deduced my schemes
"Word is she might have had too much fun yesterday and got sick. If anyone would be to brew her something to feel better, it would be you, Y/N"
I couldn't help but smile myself at this, Tonks was indeed full of surprises
"Since when did you become so good at deduction?"
"Nope, I just know my friends"
We shared a laugh after that statement, there was the Tonks I knew
"All too well, I might add"
While we were having fun at the moment, I still had a task, and we continued to walk back to the train station
"C' mon, I'll explain it to you on the way back"
We paid for passage and now on board of the Hogwarts Express, we started our journey back. In the meantime, I kept my word and told my prankster friend about my shared adventure with Penny the day before
...Keeping out some personal details, of course
"...That was quite the story, no wonder why Penny talks so greatly about you, Y/N"
Now that statement caught me off guard, I normally hated the attention, but coming from her? That was another story entirely
"She does?"
She couldn't help but chuckle at this, I might have sounded just as confused as a first year
"You should know by now. So, then your ingredients, what are they for?"
I could feel myself getting slightly more serious at this question, but not enough to kill the already happy mood Tonks set with me
"I'm going to trust you this small detail, Tonks. I owe you that after helping me today"
"It was nothing, Y/N, but I appreciate it"
She smiled kindly at me, but I just nodded before I prepared my exposition about the importance of this particular dish regarding Penny and a few more extra facts
"You see, back when I was a kid, my brother Jacob and I would sometimes fall sick because we wouldn't listen to mum's advice, who would have guessed that playing under the rain or the snow could get you sick? We certainly didn't, or didn't care enough to stop"
I heard her chuckle at this part, I found it quite charming myself, reliving those moments of my childhood was always a pleasure
"So every time we felt under the weather, she would make this special dish, chicken soup to help fight the symptoms and cheer us up in the process, you can't go wrong with that"
Then, feeling unable to stop, I kept telling that story, even the not so enjoyable parts
"So when my brother went missing, my mum...let's just say she didn't take it well. I recalled those times she helped us with that soup, so the first thing I learned to cook, or brew for that matter, was that soup"
"To cheer her up?"
"Exactly"
"Ahh...I see, so you're now doing the same for Penny by making this" Tonks was handling it better than I thought, she was invested in the tale herself
"I mean, it's pretty much my fault she got sick in the first place, it's the least I can do"
"Well, I think that is very sweet of you, Y/N. Let me know if you need help with anything"
"Now that you mention it, I might need your help to get into the potions classroom to prepare this thing" I motioned to the bag in my hands
The Hufflepuff grinned, nodding as an idea had already popped in her mind
"Perhaps I can test my fanged frisbee again. You know, without hitting you"
I laughed at this, admiring her enthusiasm. If that was her plan, I would allow it, as long as nobody would get hurt, of course
Nymphadora Tonks and I might not have been together for long, but we could coordinate without any problem when we had a common goal, so by the time we got back to Hogwarts, we already had a plan
Sneaking our way into the dungeons, stopping only for me to gather the ingredients I already had, Tonks and I took cover behind a wall. We nodded at each other and she put on her handler glove before picking up her fanged frisbee and walked towards the hall
She wound up and threw the frisbee as far as she could, catching the attention of the prefect immediately once he saw the device in the air and the pink-haired girl running away in another direction, it was now or never
The entrance to the classroom was empty, so I ran inside, placed the ingredients in a table and got to work. Chopping the vegetables, getting some water in the cauldron, all those things brought back the memories
Back to a simpler time, a time in which I was happy and I didn't know it, with Jacob, mum, and dad trying to make our way in the world...Oh how would give anything to see mum alive again...or getting to see dad again
...Or Jacob
...What the, when did it become so difficult to see? Bloody hell, I'm letting myself get carried away, focus, Y/N!
Think, what would Snape do in a situation like this? Oh! I got it
"Y/N, you incompetent fool, stop crying over my cauldron or I'll make you clean every single thing in this room for the rest of the year"
Yeah, that's more like it. Thanks, Professor Snape, maybe I'll-
"How's everything going, do you need any help?"
Needless to say, I was not expecting another voice in this room, especially when I'm not supposed to be there, so my reaction was what you would expect
"BLOODY HELL!!"
I nearly fell down thanks to this mysterious voice, who gasped when she saw this and helped me keep balance. When I looked back at her, I discovered that it was Chiara
"I-I'm sorry! I didn't mean to scare you like that!" She was clearly as startled as I was, but for both our sakes, I had to keep it quiet, or else this plan would fail
"It's alright, but what are you doing down here?"
"Tonks told me you were back from Hogsmeade, I thought you could use a hand to prepare this thing" She replied with that kind (still a bit scared) tone of hers
"Fine, I'm almost done with this anyway, please fetch me some bowls so we can bring this to Penny"
"On it" She went back and searched for the bowls, which were on the table as well, I came prepared so I brought them with me to avoid having to sneak into the kitchen as well
Once she had them in hand, and I confirmed the state of my soup, I concluded that it was time for the next phase of the plan
"Quick, let's get this to Penny. I'll bring the cauldron and you take the spoon and the bowls"
She did just as I asked and with a bit of effort from my part, I was able to carry the cauldron with me. Had to drink a potion to avoid getting myself burnt by holding it
Chiara made sure there was nobody watching before signaling me to follow her and so we did, sneaking out of the potions classroom and into the Hufflepuff dorms, which fortunately for us, were literally next door. We walked into the stairs, I was at first looking back at my partner in crime to make sure she was coming along
"Come on, time is of the..."
I stopped both talking and walking when I saw the last thing I hoped to find in the stairs: Penny Haywood herself, still sick and stumbling her way down, exposing herself like this, the girl could barely stand!
"Penny? What in the name of Peeves are you doing up!?" I whispered to her, in my best attempt not to raise the tone of my voice
"I...I can h-help..."
Was all she could say before losing her grip on the stairs, thus failing to stay still and now, she was about to crash into me...wait, what?
No second thought was given as the space to react was paper thin, I threw the cauldron to the side, soup included, and extended my arms, reaching out to catch a falling Haywood, it all happened so fast, the next thing I knew was that I was on the floor, with Penny in my arms and the broken cauldron on the floor
...So much for that plan
"Hey, PenPen, you alright?" I asked her in a mellow tone, only getting a slow nod from her as a reply
I sighed upon confirming her state, then I spotted Chiara with her hands on her mouth, eyes wide in shock. She tried her best to remain calm. I can't blame her for reacting like that, this was so sudden, guess I had the duels to thank for sharpening reflexes
"A-Are you alright? You fell down the stairs too, Y/N!" Despite the shock, Chiara too was trying her best not to scream, the broken cauldron was loud enough as it was
...wait, the cauldron
"I'm fine, please get her back to her bed while I repair this cauldron before someone else comes"
Following my example and regaining her composure, the silver-haired girl rushed in our aid, took Penny from my arms and helped her get up. Displaying care rivaling that of Madam Pomfrey, Chiara got Penny to walk back up the stairs, now it was up to me
"It came from over here" I heard an unknown voice say from the distance, it was now or never
Getting my wand out, I focused on the cauldron, the soup contained within it and sealed the spell with some of my own memories before a single word came from my mouth
"Reparo"
As if it was in reverse, the cauldron pieced itself back together, with the soup getting back into it and recovering its warm state within seconds. I know it's as good as new, but now I'm not as confident in my soup
I still picked it up and as fast as I could without spilling it again, I got back up the stairs and put the cauldron on a table nearby before closing the door immediately after my arrival, fortunately, we didn't leave any clues as to what had happened...aside from a loud series of noises
I leaned against the door, sighing in relief, with my hands covering my face as I heard the voices retiring from the scene just as quickly as they approached it, a problem was avoided. Once that unpleasant surge of stress left my body, I was met with an appetizing smell, the soup
"Y/N, over here!"
Without wasting any more time, I grabbed the cauldron and followed Chiara's voice. This place was much less populated, which was amazing for the plan, not a single soul to gossip about what I was doing there, for once
Shortly after, I entered the same room I first encountered Penny when she was sick, it was pleasant to find her back in bed and Chiara sitting on a chair next to it. She was still apologizing for leaving the blonde's side for as long as she did, but I told her it was no biggie
I mean, it was, but I was not going to call her out in front of Penny, especially in her state. I placed the cauldron on a nightstand nearby and asked Chiara to help our common friend drink a bit of water while I prepared a bowl of chicken soup
"Alright, Penny. I prepared something for you, this will definitely help you combat this flu. Be careful, though it's still hot"
I handed her the bowl, with a handkerchief under it to keep her from burning herself. At first, the young Haywood was surprised, she inspected the soup and smiled at me
She might not have been able to speak well at the moment, but that smile said so much in her absence, she was genuinely moved by this gesture and with the spoon handed to her by her fellow Hufflepuff, she gave the soup a try
I don't know why I found myself nervous when I saw this, it was like a chef waiting for the critic to review their latest masterpiece. The thing was, I'm hardly a chef, and I'm only giving soup to a...a very important person for me
That would explain why did I feel my heart flooding with joy, relief, and whatnot when I saw her reaction to the dish. She hummed in approval, her eyes were surprised by the taste
She loved it
"Wow, is it really that good?” I thought to myself, Chiara noticed this too and asked me if she could try some of it too
I agreed to it, that was the reason why I chose to use multiple bowls. As a Ravenclaw, I like to take precautions for everything, although I have to admit, sometimes it feels a little...unnecessary
A-Anyway, the girl served herself a bowl of soup and tasted it as well, the same reaction as Penny
"My goodness, Y/N, this tastes amazing!"
"But...it's just chicken soup" I stated, as confused as one could be
I mean, chicken soup was not known to be godly in taste, just for its effectiveness. While I was too busy with my own thoughts, Penny fetched a notebook and a qill, using magic to gather them closer, and she started writing, then she showed me what she wrote
"You should dedicate to making food like this!"
"I agree!" Chiara added and they shared a laugh
Honestly, I never found someone so amazed by this dish...well, aside from me, of course, but watching them, it felt...
This is what mum must have felt whenever Jacob and I enjoyed her soup
Hours passed and Penny seemed to be getting better by the minute, her ability to speak, while still recovering, was far better now, enough to fully articulate a sentence. We never left her side, even Tonks miraculously managed to sneak her way back into the room, I knew I could count on her
Together with the Hufflepuff ladies, we came up with so many things to do to help make Penny's day less boring and in fact, we played all kinds of games, from gobstones on top of the nightstand to a couple of quizzes of random things!
It was one of the best days I've ever spent, easily
With a world as wonderful and eventful as ours, it was so easy to forget the countless adventures one could have in their very room, as long as they're in the right company. And all it took was a snowball and butterbeer
So much fun that in fact, I didn't even notice the time, way past curfew and I was still in a house that was not my own. Filch would jump at the opportunity to punish me for something like this and now thanks to my own clumsiness, he could
Currently, I was alone with Penny, Tonks had sneaked out to pull some prank and Chiara left to feed the magical creatures she was supposed to take care of. When we were alone, we acted...different
What do I mean by this? Well, I was sitting on Penny's bed, with her resting her head on my lap. None of us seemed to mind this, not at all
Penny was quite comfortable with my visit, but when she caught me staring at the window, she soon realized the same thing as I did, changing the atmosphere of the room into that of worry, something I did not intend to do at all
"Do you really have to go?..."
She asked, voice weak but still cute enough to pull my heartstrings, a smile remained on my face, full of sympathy for that Hufflepuff girl who would never hear a no from me when asking for help
"I'm afraid so, it's past curfew"
Her gaze saddened, like a child that realizes that playtime is over, and now it was time to rest...wait, that gave me an idea
I leaned closer and with that same playful smile I showed whenever I was about to commit mischief, I whispered to her
"But that doesn't mean I can't do one last thing for you, though?"
"Like what?" Her eyes showed curiosity, intrigue
I chuckled and ran my hand through those golden locks of hers, much to her surprise
"Just trust me, this'll help you make it through the night"
Suddenly, the lights illuminating the room became weaker thanks to my wand, and soon enough, a gentle hum would leave my mouth
I started to hum a song for Penny, one that, like everything else I had done today, had a deeper meaning. This one was one of my personal favorites, from a decade long before I was born, yet I found the lyrics to be so special
But I never had a reason to sing it, until now, of course
"Whenever it's early twilight
I watch 'til a star breaks through"
I began to sing whilst looking at her, that purity in her eyes, full of wonder and curiosity gained a smile from me, without stopping my song
"Funny, it's not a star I see
...It's always you"
I could have sworn I saw her blush by this, yet, I kept going, stroking her hair in an attempt to soothe her
"Whenever I roam through roses
And lately I often do
Funny, it's not a rose I touch
It's always you"
Immersing myself into this melody, I closed my eyes, looking away as those words left my lips, sang with gentle care. I could feel Penny relax against my touch, even leaning closer to get comfortable
"If a breeze caresses me It's really you strolling by"
If I hear a melody
It's merely the way you sigh"
Tonks entered the scene, only to be silenced immediately by Chiara, who motioned her to be as quiet as possible, as they both peeked over to one particular room...
"Wherever you are, you're near me
You dare me to be untrue
Funny, each time I fall in love..."
I opened my eyes to look down at the beauty I had near me, her eyes closed in peaceful sleep, she earned one last smile from myself as I leaned closer to give her a gentle kiss on the forehead, making her smile without knowing
"...It's always you"
