i'm saying it. i don't think joly would work in a hospital. i think his medical career would be informed by his politics + radicalisation and his + his friends regular drug use, he would be outraged at how the medical industry handles drug users, also at the medical industrial complex in general, so he would find a reputable community led harm reduction organisation to work for 🫶🏻

Hey y'all! Weird question time again So I have kind of a lot of emergency/as needed medications that I have to have with me in my purse whenever I leave the house, and a few more that I have to take with meals, so if I'm going to leave the house for longer than a quick errand I need those too. The problem: I have two nieces that live nearby-ish, one of which is an absolute bundle of chaos of a toddler*, and the kidlet I babysat is going to visit next year. He's nine. If I spend time with any of those kids, how do I childproof my purse full of medications without making it difficult to access emergency medications I could need at very short notice while potentially pretty significantly impaired, like my rescue inhaler? *her parents babyproofed some doors with those latches high up on the door and she figured out how to take a broom and unlatch them

'it's genocidal to call for an end of Israel where do you want us to go' stay where you are or don't, who gives a shit. you just can't be the only group represented in political authority. you just don't have the right to perform genocide or land capture. you just can't be the boot stamping on everyone else's necks. 🤷‍♀️
the state is not the people. if you don't want to leave Palestine live in Palestine. but Israel does not have a right to exist and you do not have a right to stand above others by the circumstances of your birth. you do not have a right to continue to profit from an ongoing genocide. you do not have a right to supremacy. you do not have a right to gain your comfort at the direct cost of thousands of lives next door. you do not have a right to be colonial overlords. you do not have a right to an ethnostate or a theocracy. you do not have the right to continue to sell on and pass on and profit from land and resources legally gatekept from everyone outside your specific group. you do not have a right to use immigration law to prevent people from returning to their homes while continuing to artificially cultivate a Jewish majority. you do not have a right to displace people to get what you want. you do not have a right to ownership. you have a right to live in safety but you don't have a right to pay in other people's lives for that. and you don't have a right to rule. and Israel does not have a right to exist.
Jews were in Palestine before 1914 and Jews will be in Palestine after Palestine is freed. but as equal citizens not as colonial overlords.

Sorry for the passive aggressiveness vaguepost but like you don't have to both sides a conflict where one side is clearly doing much worse stuff than the other.
Lik I'm tired of people putting zionist content on my TL masquerading as anti antisemitic posts; usually right after someone rebogs something about Palestine. Caring about Palestinians doesn't make you antisemitic you don't have to compensate ESPECIALLY not by giving attention to dipshits that see other Jewish folks as race traitors if they dare be against ethnic cleansing.

Nah because imagine going this insane over your child. Screaming and collapsed in the hallway while she... cries and bites at her wrist? Draws her own blood? Self harms? Couldn’t be me. I’m the childless aunt visiting the household for the week, seeing how my dumbass sister treats and ignores her child and being like “damn my sister is a dumbass I gotta take care of this child” and yknow I told myself I wouldn’t make an exception about a child-free life but now I think the exception is this cute little girl who just wants to suck blood and is scared of her fucking parents and was put into quirk counseling just so she could be “normal”?? Pathetic behaviour from them actually. I’ll let my child suck blood from whoever she wants. Better yet, I’ll give her the support she needs in order to not suck blood from people without their permission and teach her to embrace how she loves others and maybe we can look into career options where her quirk could really help but only if my little girl wants to and anybody who has something to say about it can fight me in the front yard except if they came over to compliment and accept her in which case I will offer them a bite to eat and a drink inside
If my child had the irresistible urge to suck blood, I would simply support her and teach her how to handle those urges in healthy ways instead of abusing and telling her to suppress who she is. Rip Toga’s dumbass parents but I’m different

Having a child is gojo’s greatest fear for much of his life. But then you show up. You fix that! He’s not scared of just bringing a baby into the world anymore!
Because suddenly the hypothetical woman he might impregnate is you, and that terrifies him more than anything else in the world.

Honestly the idea of slugcats existing in a sort of space where they are capable of 'moral' thought but not having a full structural concept of it in like, slugcat culture is kinda an interesting thought. Like they have sympathy as a personality value that governs a willingness to do harm, particular in terms of slugpups being unwilling to eat live food like centipedes if it has high enough values, if i recall right.
Which does seem to at least a basis for slugcats having an internal capacity (or lack of) for violence, and at least some understanding of what the 'weight' of choosing to harm something is- enough to potentially have a discomfort with it just by their personal nature. The idea of experiencing guilt for a natural, accepted and expected behavior without otherwise having a full understanding of what guilt is even is interesting.

arrrghhh and having a moment just now b/c earlier i was rewatching this clip and appreciating how ofc not only is it a stellar little expression saga of jeremy's there but it's so Relevant to how we're being shown like [yeah clearly this is a bad idea but we are led to understand why he'd do it anyways] when like yeah jeremy's hurt & miserable as this new computer enemy immediately beating him up insulting him like you're the worst die Admit You're The Worst & Die. but also like jeremy was already There & already getting that message from others / life, which is why he's in this situation already, and why even though this obvious antagonism & hurtful treatment Does dig that hole a little deeper it's like, still more of the same from jeremy's perspective / a supposed further confirmation of what he was already sufficiently believing was true anyways. but what's so different & new to him is this like invented & temporary Vision Of How Things Could Be where suddenly he's getting attention that is so positive & everyone is sooo hyped about him we love everything about you....and That's what's so much more motivating to jeremy than the previous shit that he of course experienced as Unpleasant
and then just now was looking at this gifset again with christine being surprised by how as she's increasingly exiting the defensive mode of trying to stay out of the way / rein herself in, jeremy's just interested and encouraging and giving Thee clearest most positive feedback as earnestly and spontaneously as she's being rn....the way that she's having a parallel experience to jeremy's Mall Visions Of Possibility like here's this random person suddenly who is responding so positively to whatever tends to be reacted to negatively as [weird/wrong/overmuch]....their earnest spontaneous little parallel threads that keep weaving together throughout the story like. christine and this ever surprising new person who first crops up super nervous but then really openly enthused about Her enthusiasm; freaking out at a mall food court; doing great at play rehearsal even though he's new to this; then a whole moment where at first he's maybe being confusingly standoffish compared to that enthusiasm at their first meeting but then the whole [i guess a part of me xyz] section of a guy that i'd kinda be into like waaaaauugh oh lord and now i'm thinking of the agtikbi reprise like i am sweeping the bmc obcr up into my arms for so many reasons & including that track is a hell of one....being presumably a bit further bemused by jeremy's whole deal but during this period where christine's presumably a bit preoccupied w/the play and with trying to try new things and dating jake, there goes jeremy suddenly dating brooke apparently & eventually evidently christine is like okay i guess he's in this popular kids group more cohesively than i am & [whatever interpretations in how christine thinks that jeremy is also hooking up far & wide w/ppl in that group lol] but here he is also feeling in over his head & overwhelmed & out of place after trying to play the part & Act Correctly & indeed managing to end up here & yet....And Yet they can have another earnest vulnerable spontenaous enthused encouraging moment on the couch, despite that then of course christine's like okay look in general What is going on around here, and that's even before anyone's burned down a house & so forth, all before we he she they get Proof of what jeremy wants & feels & chooses, and have that reunion finally with finale jeremy where it's like, yeah he's got more confidence in Himself, ofc he still likes her and her as herself, and he's still nervous but okay with that, she's more comfortable likewise being out of her comfort zone lol not trying to maximally stay either in the one arena she can be herself Or otherwise out of everyone's way, ugh their vimh moment like that willingness to be vulnerable with this person b/c as in any interactions you're not guaranteed "safe" but the stakes of that and effort of navigating are made lower by having this trust and understanding and knowing this person genuinely cares....the fact that they can misunderstand each other And That's Fine because they can and do just go "no, i mean xyz" which in turn isn't to chastise but an earnest effort to connect & let this other person understand & know you better & believing that They want to exert the effort to Try To Get It, to Genuinely Care....waah
tl;dr that the way jeremy is (theoretically) looked at in the mall while simply existing when everything is going to be wonderful and so alive & is so moved by is the way christine experiences jeremy looking at her For Real when they're first properly meeting in the i love play rehearsal scene, and furthermore: ;ww;

deranged thought I had while writing, so I wanna trade for one of yours :)
Say someone has a type of postmortem regeneration. Every time they die, they come back to life in a brand new, non-injured body, leaving the old one behind.
If they ate their own dead body would it be cannibalism or autocannibalism? Because yes, it’s their body, but it’s a different body than the one they currently have, so…?
Ooh, that’s fun! I like that a lot :3
One of my favorite themes in writing is Dying And Coming Back Wrong. It’s fun as a trope, and I really like to explore it as a metaphor for trauma changing a person.
It’s also fun as a kind of anti-ship-of-theseus hypothetical. If someone comes back with the same body but is completely different in every non-physical way, are they still technically the same person? What defines a person: their body, their behaviors, or their memories? Can you really say that someone who acts completely different from the person you once knew is the same person, just because of a shared name and memories? If they come back without any memories at all and a completely different personality, does that change things? Is the original person “gone,” or are they just changed?
It’s also a fun thing to consider for people having their minds transferred into new bodies. If you define a life as a continuous consciousness, then the original person is “dead,” and the consciousness inside the new body is just a copy. If you define a life as a collection of memories and behaviors, then the person is still alive, and there is no difference between the “original” and the new body. Is a human life restricted to the brain, or is there a “soul” that travels alongside the mind? If there isn’t, does it really matter?

A couple things re: this Maarva drama. Because apparently, it bears repeating again.
There have been numerous posts calling out Tony Gilroy for writing this storyline. No one's excusing him, believe me. In fact, I blame him the most obviously, since he's the real person who made the choice to write this. But we're also allowed to criticize Maarva in the context of the show's reality. The fact that she's a woman being written by a man doesn't absolve her if we're looking at it from an in-universe perspective. Every single character is just being written by someone. None of them are real. We can and often do still discuss their actions as if they're real though because we're looking at it from an in-universe perspective, this is not uncommon in any fandom. And in-universe, Maarva still kidnapped Cassian and treated him like shit.
Syril's mom is abusive too, yes. But everyone recognizes that. The difference is that she's written to be an antagonist, and Maarva's written to be a hero. That's why we're talking about her, and not Eedy. Because everyone knows Eedy sucks, but Maarva gets put on a pedestal both by the show and the fans time and time again. (Case in point.) And there's a large gap between emotional abuse and coddling. We didn't want Cassian to be coddled, we wanted him to be loved and supported, and not constantly berated and criticized and belittled and talked to like an object. Are we really the bad guys for wanting a good parent for Cassian? Doesn't he deserve that?
And for the last time, criticizing a female character for the shitty things they did is not misogyny. It's not about "hating women," it's about hating Maarva specifically. For very specific reasons. Like drugging and kidnapping a frightened child and separating him from his sister and his homeworld and everything and everyone he ever knew. If you don't think that's a legit reason to hate someone, regardless of their gender, then there's not much else to talk about here because it tells me everything I need to know. The thing is that being a woman doesn't mean you're a saint, idk if you know this but some women suck! In fiction and in real life too. It's genuinely insulting to imply that we hate her because of misogyny because it couldn't be further from the truth, especially when we provided multiple explanations time and time again of why we actually hate her.
And yes, Clem was absolutely guilty too. I even agree that some people are too forgiving on him. But that doesn't excuse Maarva from responsibility. "Actually Clem and Eedy suck too" is not a legit argument to defend this woman. Great, they all suck. Now what? Does that make Maarva's actions better? No, it doesn't.
