May 19th 1941
New York City, USA
8:23 am
Dear Diary,
Spring is coming any day now, the chill has died off and flowers are beginning to bloom, but I’ll say the air here in America feels a bit thicker when you’re not by the sea. Oh, I miss the seaside, Dad says they closed the beaches back in Brighton last year after Dunkirk, it was too dangerous to keep them open. It’s a shame, our Peggy loved the beach. We used to buy her a 99 and take a walk down the pier watching the seagulls nick a chip out of an unsuspecting victim’s hand. This one time, Peggy laughed so hard she dropped her ice cream and made me and the old man march back down the pier to buy her a new one, just to do the walk up the pier all over again. I would give anything to see her smile again but for now, it’s back to business aye?
Speaking of business, my dick of a boss, John, back in England assigned me a new mission yesterday. Something about money being stolen from one of the precincts in the city? I'm not sure, I haven’t gotten all the details yet but I guess I’ll find out more in today’s briefing at the head office.
Anyway, must be off. My train into the city should be here any minute now and God knows my grumpy sod of a boss will have my head if I’m late to another meeting.
Talk soon.

“Excuse me, ma’am, would you mind if I sit here? All the other seats are taken”
You avert your eyes from the book you’ve been engrossed in for the past 10 minutes; “The So Blue Marble” by Dorothy B. Hughes, a truly riveting thriller novel. Bookmarking your page, your gaze meets the handsome young chap standing before you.
“Oh yes of course, please, sit down” He’s a rather handsome fellow, clean-shaven with his hair slicked with a side part, perfectly framing his chiselled jaw. Heat flushes across your cheeks and you can’t help but feel a little flustered as he takes a seat in front of you.
“Thank you, Ma’am” He extends his arm for a handshake.
“Please, call me Ada”
“A pleasure, Ada” You can’t help but notice his peculiar accent, it appears to be a southern accent of sorts but you can’t quite place it.
“Is that a southern accent I hear- oh sorry, I didn’t ask your name?”
“Ah no, Maryland although I do get that a lot, and no worries. The name’s Nick but everyone calls me Folio” You tilt your head ever so slightly at the nickname, wondering how that came to be. As if he already knew your next question, he smiles.
“My surname Is Folio, there’s another Nick amongst my friends so over time I just became Folio”
“Aah makes sense. Well, it’s lovely to meet you, Folio” You flash a smile, trying your best not to blush too hard.
“Judging by your accent, you’re from England I assume? What brings you to America, New York City at that?”. It’s the dreaded question you always fear to answer. Although you’re trained to lie, to be deceitful, you can’t help but feel a little guilty each time you respond to that question. It’s not easy to live your life pretending to be someone you’re not, half of the time you’re not even sure what’s real anymore; but that’s the job. Everyone is doing what they can to help the war effort, you included and if that means putting up a facade each day, then so be it.
“My family evacuated from England, we would’ve gone to Canada but my brother is deployed here in the States” You feel your heart drop to your stomach. This isn’t a complete lie; your mother and youngest sister, Mary and Agnes, did evacuate from England, but the ship carrying them to Canada took a devastating blow and ultimately sunk; the total casualties are still unknown. No one knows the whereabouts of your brother, Dennis. You received a telegram in July last year to notify that he was M.I.A when he didn’t return to base with his aircrew. So, no, it wasn’t a complete lie but you have to carry the sadness on your own.
“So, what will a gorgeous lady like you be doing in the city? ” He leans forward on the table, raising his left eyebrow. His words make your heartbeat speed up a million miles an hour. Of course, he doesn’t know the real reason you’re in the city but a little fun can’t hurt, right?
“I’m looking around for a job but most businesses are shut and I’m not first aid trained, so that’s pretty much any job out of the question” Another lie.
“Well, I can’t give you a job but If you ever want some company, please feel free to come down to the 13th precinct. I’d be happy to keep you company” His flirtatious manner doesn’t go unnoticed, nothing overly forward but enough to make your face burn up. A high-pitched whistle blows outside of the train and it isn’t until you see passengers standing up collecting their belongings from the overhead shelves that you realise you’ve reached your destination. You both walk off of the train onto the platform, pushing through the crowd of busybodies.
“Well I must be going, I’ve got some job interviews lined up today. It was lovely meeting you, Folio”
“You too, Ada. Good luck with the interviews, I’m sure you’ll find something soon”. Folio, once again, extends his arm for a handshake. Saying your goodbyes, you make your way along the path towards the north exit gate but your attention is averted as you hear that familiar, not-so-southern, voice.
“I hope you take me up on that offer, Ada!”. He bellows. Turning on your heels, you chuckle thinking about the gorgeously mysterious man you just met.
__________________
“Ah right on time Chapman, makes a change. I was beginning to wonder if that pretty face of yours knew how to tell the time” Alfred, your other male chauvinist pig of a boss, says as you walk into the meeting room.
“Morning Alfred, Sir” Oh how you’d love nothing more than to punch his disgusting, smug face, but you need this job and you need the money, especially if you want to get your dad and Peggy over here in the States.
“As John mentioned to you yesterday, he has assigned you a new mission. The higher-ups believe that someone in the 13th precinct is stealing money from their funding-”
“Sorry to interrupt you, sir, but did you say the 13th precinct?” This can’t be possible, surely not?
“For fuck sake Ada, maybe if you spent less time dressing like a whore and more time paying attention you would’ve heard me. Yes, I said the 13th precinct now shut up and listen” Anger rises through your body as he berates you in front of your team, but you take a deep breath, reminding yourself not to give him the satisfaction of a reaction.
“Sorry, sir. Please continue”
“As I was saying, you will be tracking one man. We believe he is acting alone, stealing money to put into an offshore account. You will be working at the precinct undercover as an accountant, you will need to keep track of all the money that goes in and out of their accounts. You’ll be given a written brief with more details. Make sure to read it thoroughly after the meeting ends, if that’s even possible for that empty fucking head of yours. We will go over the target’s name and description so everyone is aware of exactly who the suspect is”. Annie, Alfred’s assistant, hands out copies of the brief around the table.
Flipping over the first page, which details the goal of the mission, you see the name of the suspect.
“Fuck” Is all you can mutter out under your breath as you stare at the page, mouth agape in disbelief.
“You’ve got to be fucking kidding me” There’s no denying the name and image that’s staring right back at you. Is this a sick joke? A punishment for leaving your family behind?
“Billy, can you please read out the suspect’s name and character description” A part of you still hopes that you’re imagining what you’re seeing in front of you.
“Nick Folio, sir”
There’s no such thing as fate, but the universe has a funny way of deciding it for you.

As I get out of my car, I see nothing but darkness. It was late by the time I pulled in. All I can hear are the animals being vocal. My boyfriend Nick invited me to his family’s cabin. It was an exhausting three hour long trip.
Nick came bounding down the stairs with a big smile on his face, “Hey babe. Glad you made it here safe. I’m sorry I wasn't able to drive up here with you. There was a problem with the shower so I had to come and fix it up.” He greets me with a kiss.
I smile excitedly and kiss him back “Hi baby. I’m glad I finally made it. No worries. Were you able to fix the issue?”
He grabbed both of my bags with one hand. How he managed the strength? I couldn’t say.
“Oh yeah. It took about half of the day but I got it all fixed up. Plus I needed everything to be perfect for when you got here” he winked at me as he went inside the cabin.
I blushed. My cheeks turned a vibrant red in hue as I followed him, “It’s going to be perfect because we are going to be together.” Closing  the door and walking into the living room, “wow this place is nice. Feels very homey.” My eyes gleamed with warmth.
“Are you ready to just relax this weekend?” Nick said softly, grazing my cheek with this thumb as he passed by me walking into the living room.
Sitting on the green sofa, he looked so content. I turn to look at him with a big smile, getting up from my spot on the lounge chair to go sit next to him.
“Yes. School has me wanting to rip out my hair. It's just been so hectic with studying for finals. It has me on the verge of a breakdown. But I am so glad to be here with you. With that, that also means no school and work talk anymore.”
Gently  putting  his arm around me, I nestled under the crook of his arm. I looked up at him longingly, he placed a  kiss on my forehead, “Sounds like a plan babe. I forgot to mention that being up here, we don't get very good or any signal and the wifi has been out for a couple of days. I got an email about that before I came up here. I have been trying to get someone up here but it's been difficult.”
Leaning into his arm, I joked, “well that sucks. How am I supposed to let my family and friends know that I haven't been kidnapped or killed?”
Nick throws his head back and lets out a loud laugh, “Don't worry. I’ll protect you from anything Michelle.”
—------------------Line Break—------------------------------------------------------
While cooking dinner, I pour myself a glass of whiskey. Whiskey was my weakness. Hennessy and a lot of bad decisions.
Nick shouted from the living room “I'm going to go take a shower. I'll be back.” He left for the bathroom. Once I hear the shower start, I put my phone on the speaker and play some music.
There was a knock at the door. It was loud and echoed through the house. I was Confused. We weren’t expecting anyone. I went and opened it half way, peeking my head out. “Hello. Can I help you?”
A woman with long black hair, yellow beanie snug on her head. She was short in stature and whispered low while looking down at her shoes. “I'm looking for Jamie.”
I couldn't see her face because of the porch light. It was too bright, I responded with a scowl. “I'm sorry there is no Jamie here.”
She asked me again, more demanding while keeping her head down  “Is Jamie here?”
I sighed, already fed up. “There's no Jamie here. I already told you.”
The woman brought her head up to look me in the eyes, her gaze penetrating. “Okay. Whatever you say.” Slowly began walking away from the door.
I closed and locked it shut. Walking towards the kitchen. Another knock is heard from the door.
Frustrated, I turn back over towards it, peeking through the peephole.
Christ, these people. Slowly reopening it, I was greeted with a different female this time. I couldn't make out her features but was only able to see her short and crimson locks.
She quietly says as she looks down to the heels of my feet.  “Is Jamie here?”
I look at her, irritation steering through my veins. “Look I told your friend that there is no Jamie here. So leave before I call the police.”
The girl replies “okay.” She slowly looks up at me for a couple seconds and walks off.
Closing and locking the door with a sigh, Nick asked from behind me “who was that?”
I  jumped and turned to face him, “You almost gave me a heart attack. I don't know who that was. It was a strange chick looking for someone named Jamie. It was weird.” Shaking my head at the thought. Maybe I was losing it.  “Anyways, dinner is ready. Let's go eat.”
As we eat our dinner, Nick looks up from his plate, placing his fork on mine, fiddling with my carrots.  “How was the drive up here?” Did you enjoy it or was it too much for you?” He was never one for a quiet dinner, rambunctious by nature.
I look at him with a bright smile, all teeth.  “The drive was okay. I'm not a fan of long drives but this one was manageable. It was peaceful.”
Nick gave me a goofy grin. I melted internally as he grabbed my hand and placed to his lips leaving me a tender kiss, “You know i wouldn’t torture you with a very long trip.”
I chuckled, taking his hand in return. “How very thoughtful of you, baby.”
I start gathering the dishes and take them to the kitchen. I place them on the sink looking out the kitchen window, I see a person standing near the trees. Confused, I called out for Nick “hey babe! Come here please”
Nick walks into the kitchen “what's up?” he goes over to me and puts his arm around my waist.
“There is someone out there. I saw someone standing near that tree” I turn to look at him
Nick turns to look out the window “I don't see anyone out there babe. Maybe it's just the drink getting to you.” He looks at me and smirks
I roll my eyes and move away from him “I only had half a cup. I swear to you I saw someone out there.”
As soon as he opened his mouth to reply to me there was a loud bang coming from the front door.
Nick goes to the front door and opens it only to be greeted by no one there. Confused, he looks around and goes back inside “that was weird. There was no one there.”
I shrug and go back to the kitchen. I see that my phone isn't on the counter, confused. I start looking around for it “babe have you seen my phone? I left it near the counter when I was cooking and it's not there.”
Nick leans against the door frame “no i haven't seen it. Are you sure you left it there? Maybe you just misplaced it.”
Looking at him annoyed, I answer “No Nicholas. I didn't misplace it. I know where I left it at. It couldn't just get up and walk away from me.”
Nick “I'll help you look for it. I'm sure it's around here. Like you said I don't think it got up and just left.” he looks around the living room.
I walk into the bedroom and look around for it. I get on the floor to look under the bed when I see a pair of feet on the other side of the bed. I see the person wearing black dress pants and black boots. Confusion running through my head, I sit up and look up to find no one there.
“Nick come here please” I say from the bedroom while getting up. Nick walks into the bedroom “yes Michelle?” I look down to his pants and his shoes and see that he is wearing black levis and all black nike air max 90s.
Nick smirks at me “baby if you want something you just gotta say it, you don't have to be a tease about it” he sits on the edge of the bed close to me.
I roll my eyes “have you always been wearing those shoes or did you just change them?”
Nick replies “I have always been wearing these shoes. Why?” I look at him horror flashing through me making me get goosebumps “I I think someone is in here. When I was looking for my phone under the bed, I looked across and I saw a pair of legs. The person was wearing boots”
“Are you sure? The only people here are us. I would think we would have been able to hear if someone came in here. Again, you need to stop watching horror movies” Nick says as looks at me
Frustrated I responded “I swear on anything I saw someone standing on the other side of the bed. Stop gaslighting me Nicholas. I'm so close to leaving you here. I still can't find my phone.”
Nick sighs “I'm sorry. Please forgive  me?” he pouts and brings me close to him.
I smile and kiss him “I guess I can accept your apology Folio. You are going to have to make it up” I put my hands on his shoulders as I stood between his legs.
Nick looks up at me and smirks “you don't have to tell me. I have thought of every way I am going to make it up to you baby.”
Just as I was about to lean down to kiss him, the lights were cut off. I gasped in horror not knowing what could have caused this.
Nick looks at me “well that's strange. I'm going to go to the garage to get some flashlights. I’ll be back babe.” He says as he makes his way out of the room to the garage.
I make my way to the living room to see if I can find some candles. I hear a tapping sound coming from the back door. Confused, I make my way to the back door, pull open the curtain when I'm greeted by a girl in a mask holding a knife. I scream and back up.
As I'm running to the bedroom, I see a shadow down the hall. I gasp and run into the bathroom and lock the door. I go inside the bathtub and sit. I bring my knees up to my chest. Crying and shaking out of fear, I look at the door. I see it being shaked and pulled. I cry even more.
The door gets kicked open and the shadow gets close to me. “Michelle, what are you doing here?”
Nick asked me while standing near the bathtub. When I hear his voice, I get up and encircle his waist.  “Oh Nick. I saw someone outside holding a knife and I don't know if it was the same person b b but I saw someone in the hallway. I want to leave. Please, I want to go home.” I plead.
Nick sighs and holds me tightly in muscular arms, “Alright, Alright. Let's go back home. Let's start packing” He goes to the bedroom.
“No! I don't care about my stuff. I just want to get out of here!” I get out of the bathroom and go to the living room. Nick follows me “What is going on with you? There is no one else besides us here” I turn to look at him and see someone standing a few feet away from him. I scream.
Nick turns around and backs up to me “who are you!” he calls out. The masked person walked to us slowly. It was the same girl that was tapping the window.
Nick holds my hand and runs out the front door to the car. I held and ran with him. As we got to the car there was a masked man standing near it. He had a ski mask and was fairly tall. He was holding a lighter in his hand. As fast as we saw the lighter in his hand was just as fast as he threw it to the car making it light up.
Nick looks at the car “fuck. We ran back inside. As soon as Nick closed the door an ax came down on it. Screaming, I backed away from the door. Nick ran to me and turned to look at me. With his hands, he grabbed my face looking at me.
“I need you to go hide for me, okay? I have a weapon in the garage and I need to go get it. I'm going to come right back for you. I love you” he kisses me softly and lets go of me and makes his way out of the room.
I grab his hand to stop him “Nick I want to go with you please. I don't want to be left alone here.” Nick looks at me “it will be okay. I promise you. Everything will be fine Michelle.” I let go of his arm “please be careful Nick.” I say to him as he walks out of the backdoor. I follow behind him slowly watching him till he gets to the garage. Suddenly I hear a noise near the garage thinking that Nick could have gotten hurt, I go out and start walking towards it.
Once I get close to it I see that there is a girl standing there in a pin up mask. I look at her out of fear and start walking backwards. As I take my steps she starts walking towards me. I turn to run and she walks behind me.
I ran into the house and hid in a closet. I cover my mouth to keep any noises from coming out of me. I suddenly see a silhouette standing across the closet door.
Suddenly the door gets pulled open and there is a girl wearing a doll mask standing in front of me. I let out a horrified scream.
Trying to run past her, she slices my arm with her knife. I ran to the living room. As soon as I got to it, I saw a man in a mask dragging Nick by the shirt and tossing him into the middle of the living room. Nick is beaten and bloody.
I gasp and go to kneel beside him and hold him. I cry and look at him. The three masked strangers stand in front of us next to each other. The masked man squats down to look at us.
I look at him and say “Why are you doing this? Why us?” He looks at me with a smile and says “because you are here and you answered the door.” He stands up and stands next to the other two girls.
The masked man looks at both of the girls and says “It's time”. He takes out a knife and looks at Nick and I. The room is silent except for the sobs that are leaving my mouth.
“Please don't do this. Please. You can take whatever you want. I-I promise I won't say anything to anyone.” I plead to them.
The girl in the pin up mask takes it off and throws it on the ground. Next to take off their mask is the girl wearing the doll mask.
The last one to take off their mask is the guy in the ski mask. He stands out to me the most because he looks familiar.
Nick looks at me and says “I'm sorry this had to be done.”
He gets up and stands next to the girl with the long black hair. He wipes the blood from his lip with the back of his hand and takes the knife that the guy gives to him. I look at him shocked and confused and angry not knowing what to do.
“I I don't understand. Why?- Wait- you’re apart of this? Why did you do this?”
Nick looks at me expressionless. “Because you were so different from the rest, don't you get it? You sweet, sweet dumb girl. You were a mere ploy, a means to an end.”
I look at him shocked. “You don't mean that, I don't believe you!”
Nick goes to me and squats in front of me “you don't have to” He traces the knife along my jawline.
I look at him with a terrified expression and whisper “Nicholas, don't do this please.” I beg him crying on my knees. He leaned so close to me, his lip grazing my ear and whispered,  “Nicholas isn't here right now, please leave a message after the beep.”
Three long beats go by and he leans back to look at me. I look at him and see his pupils are dilated. His eyes are no longer the light brown that I know, all I see is darkness showing no emotion. No love. No worries. Nothing.
Nick looks at me with an evil smirk and grabs my jaw, squeezing it hard, he licks his lips and said;
“You look so delicious like this, so weak and defenseless. Makes me want to put on a show before you lose.”
I look at him angry and spit at him “Fuck you Nick! I hate you!” Nick laughs and wipes the spit from his face with the back of his hand, “those are some nice last words you have to say baby.” I try to move his hand from my jawline but he's stronger than me.
He lets go and pushes me back, making me fall back onto the floor. I turn to see that one by one the strangers are leaving the cabin. Nick stands over me and knees down to straddle me.
His knees are on either side of my hips. Eyes locked on mine as he spoke harshly,  “You know, I wasn't lying when I said that you were different from the rest. You were my favorite one.”
I look up at him screaming, a guttural and loud growl erupts. “Please! Nick please! Don't do this! I-I promise I won't say anything to anyone!” I kicked my legs and hit him on the chest.
Nick takes one last look at me and pushes the knife right above my right breast. I scream in horror and try to fight him off of me.
Nick pushes it deeper and takes it out. As he takes the knife out,  blood starts seeping out and spilling on my shirt and on the floor.
Specks of blood land on his arms. He stabs me a couple more times and gets up to look down at me. I open my mouth to scream but nothing comes out. I roll over onto my stomach and cry.
Trying to crawl away from him, he grabs me by the foot pulling me back. I turn to him to look at him, still on my stomach as tears fall down my face, I whisper “I love you Nick”. As those words leave my mouth, no emotion is being shown by him.
I close my eyes to not look at him. Remembering all the happy memories we shared together. He brings down the knife stabbing me on the back.
Nick takes out the knife, setting it on the kitchen counter. He takes one last look at me before walking out of the cabin. He gets into a car with the three strangers.
Taking off. I open my eyes and look around to make sure he isn't around anymore. I get up slowly and make my way to the kitchen, seeing my phone on the counter as if it was never missing.
My hands shake as I pick it up making a phone call. Hearing the dial tone on the other side, I take a deep breath.
911 what's your emergency?....

note: a SUPER big THANK YOU to @darling-millicent-aubrey for the help with this chapter! I had such bad writers block and she was such a huge help thank you so much!!

Wake up, have breakfast, explore the mansion, and go to bed. Wake up, have breakfast, explore the mansion, and go to bed. Wake up, have breakfast, explore the mansion, and go to bed. On other days you tried to steer clear of Noah, not knowing why you were avoiding him.
You were already getting into the deep end, the most you could do was just not talk to him. That pattern had gone on for about a month. The only thing keeping you sane was speaking with your family, your books, and Vilma. You had even gone out into the garden and started planting some colorful flowers there.
But this constant loop would drive anyone mad. Yet you hardly had any energy to go out, but it was something you desperately needed. Today, you decide to get yourself dressed, grab your bag and go out. Just as you were reaching for the front door you heard a pair of footsteps. Looking to your left you see Noah walking with someone shorter than he was. He had some tattoos but not as many as the man you were married to. He had you’d call a “cute high school boy” face
“Where are you going?” Noah asked as he came to a stop “Just going out. I’ll go crazy if I’m here any longer.” You knew it short, with your hand still in the Handle
“Wait, we haven’t met yet have we?” The unknown man spoke coming forward “I’m Nick or Folio” he explained stretching his hand out for a handshake . You accept it, and he gives you a strong firm shake
“Folio? Another nickname?” You asked
“Oh you’ve met Jolly huh “ he chuckled “We have a Nicholas too so we just go by my last name:” he shrugged
“Oh I see, well anyway I gotta get going before it gets any later” Trying to escape the situation feeling Noah's strong gaze on you, but never looking in his direction. Nick nudges Noah, by the elbow, as if signaling for him to say, or do something. We hear Noah sigh, and then say.
“Where are you heading? I’ll go with you.” He said “I’m just going shopping. You don’t have to come, besides, you’re busy and probably gonna just waste your time” You brushed off the offer
“Well,” he said, as if he was thinking of an excuse “you need to upgrade your closet, so I’m taking you to the mall and we’re gonna grab some new clothes” stuffing his hands into his pocket as he came up with an idea right on the spot
“ I’ll come along too” Nick offered “You guys need protection and that’s what I’m here for,” he said as he lifted the bottom of his shirt to reveal a pistol snug in the waistband of his pants.
“ well, excuse me!” He sassed “I don’t mean to offend you, but I have questions about your ability to pick out an outfit for me Mr. Sebastian” he said, eyeing him up and down in his usual dark clothes “ you’ll either dress me as if we’re going to funeral or a business meeting. I don’t think I fancy either one”
He nods his head and takes a second to think about his next words. His index and thumb massaging at his chin as he thought “ those shoes you are wearing are not only dirty and beat up, but are completely outdated. It’s been about four years since those had come out. You can use a different pant style to bring out your body shape more since I always see you looking at that the most. And you could use some other tops other than your crop tops and occasional hoodies and all. So let’s go.” He said scanning you from head to toe.
Your dark grey crop top and jeans with some old sneakers were your usual go to. Especially if you aren’t going anywhere special, just some shopping.
You weren’t expecting to be judged detail for detail on what you were wearing. Noah walked past you and opened the door, showing himself out after criticizing your fashion choices.
“ has he always been…..him?” You asked Nick raising a brow. He opens the door for you and lets you past first
“Him? By that do you mean the way he speaks, acts, what he says and all?” He clarified
“Mhm, my exact thought”
“ for as long as I’ve known him, yes. And believe me, we have tried to convince him to possibly change his ways maybe even ease up on the sarcasm, never works.” he chuckles as he opens the back door for you.
“Uh… if you don’t mind, can I sit in the front with you?” You asked taking a step back. no watched you from inside interested as to why you wouldn’t sit in the backseat with him
“Uh…yeah sure I don’t have an issue with it. Noah?” He asked
“Do whatever the fuck you want” he huffed as he pulls out his phone and answers some messages he was meaning to get to. Finally getting into the car Folio drove you both to the shopping area of the city. It was a Thursday afternoon, the streets were busy but not packed.
“Wouldn’t it be kinda…dumb to walk into stores with a gun folio?” You asked him
“Well… the thing is most store owners and people know who Noah is. Plus we’ve been here enough that they know exactly what I’m carting, we should be fine” he clears up. Looking into your side mirror you take notice of how quiet Noah was back there. Usually he says some thing, witty, or sarcastic but him being quiet, was a bit surprising if you were honest.
“I didn’t take Noah for the shopping type,” you comment
“Well it’s more like Noah brought some date out here so they recogn-“
“I’m a frequent shopper. That’s all you have to know on that matter” he cuts off Folio, from explaining further on. Once your in the main area of the shopping center, folio enters a parking lot. After parking the car, you’re ready to go. He opens the door for you and helps you out. Noah opens the door before Nick could get to it. You’re lead out of the parking lot by Noah and Nick and they point you to the direction of the store.
“We’ll go in here first. Change up the outfit and shoes” he nodded for a luxurious looking building , one seemed far out of your range of taste, but hey, if you was buying you weren’t complaining.
As soon as you walk in and attendant, walked towards you and greeted you both
“ Mr. Sebastian welcome back, and this must be your date ?” he shook his hand and knotted towards you with a slight bow
“My wife actually.” He corrects “Henry, we’re going to be doing some extensive shopping today so I need only your best “ he responds
“Congratulations to you both. Please follow me” Noah offers his elbow for you to take, and which you take grasp of, and let him lead you through the store. As you pass aisles, and displays of expensive jewelry, clothes, and shoes you barely paid attention to Noah, and the fact that he was watching you. You weren’t the only one still thinking about what have happened that night.
He knew about the two you had interacted with, and knew that they do nothing but cause trouble. As you were lead to the second floor of the building you were brought into a room with clothes for all kinds of occasions. They had dresses, business wear, casual, and even some lingerie.
“Would the lady like guidance or any suggestions?” Henry asked. Noah looked at you for an answer. Instead You let go of Noah and wander over to one of the dresses and felt the material, taking a glance at the price tag you, you’re eye shoot open.
“Um….maybe I’ll take a look around for a bit and get a feel of the store” you give a tight smile with a small nod
“Please call if you need anything ma’am” Henry states as he walks over to a display to fix up the mannequin. Noah notices how you eye the prices as you go through the rack, he walks up to you, his footsteps muted out by the carpet underneath his feet. He comes in proximity to you, only about a hand worth of space can fit between you both. He bends down enough to reach your left ear and says
“ stop looking at the prices, start looking at things that you like.” Your heart skips a beat, feeling the warmth of his breath against your ear. Only then, were you aware of how close he really was. Your stomach turned as his hand comes to your right one, and remove your hand from the tag and moves your hand onto the hanger instead “Grab them, go try them, come out and show me.” he said as he pointed over in the direction of the very large fitting room area. It had a platform with a spotlight in the middle of the waiting room for people to come and model what they were trying to buy.
“But-“ you try to argue back
“ no arguments. I don’t wanna hear it. Start or I’ll pick for you” he doesn’t say anything as he walks away to look at items himself. You sigh, and start picking items that had caught your eye. Be sure to look at the sizes carefully. You grab a couple of pants and shirts, and some dresses as well. You also grabbed some shoes that could compliment the dresses and outfits.
“That’s all?” Noah asked as you walked up to him with you things in hand
“Well….yeah? This is what I saw and could grab” you said catching one of the dresses as it slips from your grip.
“Henry?” Noah calls, the said man turns in the direction of his name “could you bring us some suggestions if you could. Dresses are a __, shoe size a __, and pants and skirts size ___, thank you.” He turns back to you and walks in your direction. His hands lands on your lower back and leads you to the fitting room.
“Once you’re done, come and show me” he said taking a seat in one of the cushioned chairs.
You the shut the door to the first fitting room available. Even the fitting room was glamorous. It had a tiny chandelier, and a mirror that covered the entire wall, a chair, and carpet with expensive trimming. You really started to feel out of place, of course your father had money, but even this was out of your range.
You put on the first outfit you had put together. It was a nice skirt and top set that had fit as if it were tailored to your exact measurements. You throw on some kitten heels and walk out of the room. You walk down the short hallway and out into the waiting area. Noah looks up from his phone for a second and does a double take. He’s never seen you in an outfit like this one.
“….does it look okay..?” You asked as stepped on the platform and turn in a circle, to give a full view of the outfit.
Noah pov-
“Y-yeah” I cleared my throat and sit up straight “is it a good size?” I asked and she just nods at me “alright good…uh why don’t you try on that black dress you picked? I thought it was….nice”
“You do?” She asked me seeming confused by my comment “I was doubting your fashion sense, but maybe you do have some style.” she chuckled. That had to be the first time I’ve ever seen her smile. At me at least.
“Yes. Now go try it on.” She steps down from the platform, almost unsure of herself. As soon as she shuts the door I watch as her shadow dances on the floor.
“She’s different sir…” I hear Henry walk up to me, offering me a glass of champagne. I take the offering and take a sip “you look at her differently from the other girls you’ve brought here”
“What makes you say that?” My eyes remain focused where Y/N would be coming back from
“ so when she doesn’t seem to be materialistic like the other ones you’ve brought here” he chuckles, recalling memories of past dates he’s had
“ maybe that’s right now. I’m just giving her a taste. She’ll come back for more.” I defend, knowing how those dates went and how she might end up as well.
“ But the reason why she is different is because the look you give her” he answers back, I turn my keys, finally curious as to what he meant
“ I don’t want her in any kind of way what are you talking about?”
“ oh, you’ll know soon enough, now these are the latest sets that we have brought in. Hopefully the Mrs. would like to try them on.” he ends the conversation displaying a few dresses and blouses in front of me to show me the newest arrivals to the store. I point to one and goes to get more like them.
Y/N comes back out from the fitting room, in a short dress that reaches about her mid thigh. I get a feeling in my chest, one that I didn’t really feel before. Or least have not felt in a long time. I have to admit, she really was beautiful, and anyone could see that. I have always been aware of other people’s stares. Staring at her presence in any room. I can see the reactions when I come near her. Men want her and women want to be her. But this feeling was something I never felt with other women I’ve hooked up with, or been in relationships with. Sure I’ve taken other women shopping, but it was just to get them off me for the day.
watching her twirl around a little black dress made me think and a few things I never thought I would. That day, that I shot that asshole, I did it more because of what he did and not my own entertainment.
No matter how hard I try, no matter what I’m doing, and no matter how stressed I am I can’t get the memory of that night out of my head.
“…. Who are you?” I whisper again just like I did that night. Just like she asked me that night.
Third pov
Dress after dress, and set after set. There wasn’t one that no one did not like on you. Each one of them making you look more angelic than the last. Something did catch Noah though. You were eyeing the back wall with all the lingerie was. After you were back in your normal clothes, he takes your hand and leads you to the back wall. At first you thought he was going to show you another set or possibly take you to some hidden register in the back of the store. However, you were proven wrong when you stood in front of an entire wall of sets of lingerie. All of them, Lacey, beautiful, and some with bows, and others covered and glitter.
“Oh no…. It’s nice that you’re taking me out shopping but I really don’t need a side of lingerie okay? I have underwear ready” you can feel your cheeks begin to heat up at the slight embarrassment of standing in front of the wall. Even more so now that Noah was with you. It’s not like you were embarrassed about it with him but it’s not like he would see you in it or want to see you in it….. you weren’t even sure if you wanted to see yourself in it.
“ I already caught you looking over here a couple of times. How about this you pick one and I pick one . If you don’t like it, we just leave it” he offered to you as he quickly picked one. It was red with some black lace. The one he picked that he even picked your size.
Looking at the tag, you clench your jaw “…you’re lucky it’s my size….luck bastard.” You mumble the last part. Take a good look and grab a pink set with delicate lace designs. Noah was going to walk back with you but instead you dashed off before he could say or do anything. Noah bites the inside of his cheek, feeling a heat inside his chest and back of his throat.
He felt bothered? Pissed? But he felt an urge and he didn’t know what to label it.
“Fuck.” He cursed to himself. He makes his waist swiftly over into the fitting room and knocks on the door
“Are you changed?” he asked, leaning towards the door, as if needing to be able to hear you better.
“Uh…y-yes. But I’m not ready yet!” You answer sounding unsure.
“Well hurry up…I need to speak with you” he leans on the wall next to the door as he fingers massaged his temple.
“I mean…it’s nice but I’m in…..lingerie!” You defend
“…look you don’t have to come out but at least let me see which one fit better.”
What am I saying??? He thought to himself
“Noah….i….i don’t know if I can.” You said
“Why not?”
“Because it’s….im just. It’s a beautiful piece I just…don’t know if it suits me okay?” You admit trying to get rid of him
“Y/N,” he calls you “whatever I pick is always the best fit of not perfect…..:that includes you as well. That piece counts as one of those things as well… I’m paying for it so let me it see. Now” he demanded. You hesitate to open the door, but knowing he would keep at it, you open it and slowly reveal yourself. First your head popped from the edge of the door, then your shoulder and then the rest of you. You stood under his gaze as still as you can, not daring to make eye contact with him. You could feel your palms sweating, and your heart pounding.
"look at me...." he said in a hushed tone
"..no..." you whispered
"Y/N, look at me-"
"No!" you cut him off "Ugh what the fuck is your problem Noah?!" you snap at him. His eye brows raise at your sudden outburst
"My problem? The fuck is your problem? I'm out here treating you to some shopping and now I'M the problem" he answered back as his hands land on his hips
"That's exactly the issue! Last month you were just another asshat! I meet you stupid ex who insults me for something I didn't even agree to! Then some asshole comes and harasses me, talking about you and how I didn't know who I was with...." you rant "...and they were right I have no fucking clue, who the fuck you are...and now here I am standing in some stupid lingerie with you of all people-"
Stopped in your tracks by Noah pushing you into the fitting room. He backs you into the corner, trapping you between his arms.
"Listen to me you fucking brat." he scolds you quietly "I took you because you've been avoiding me like I'm the plague. Yeah...you don't me, and yet I don't know you either, even if you're so fucking easy to read"
You both stand there in silence, your breathing.
"So why..." you asked "...why all of this? It's not like I'm someone you'd want...." you lower your graze back to the floor "...maybe it was supposed to be Denise and not me..." what were you even saying??
"And why not?" he asked as he brings your gaze back up to him. His hand grabs your jaw like he always did, but this time he was...gentle and soft...His face coming closer to yours, holding eye contact with you. This was the closest you both had been, the longest you had looked into his eyes. You notice the small freckles that littered his face. the long lashes that shielded his eyes. Those dark and mysterious orbs, seemed to be softer, more relaxed...like you were looking at somebody else.
"Because....because...." he inches closer and closer to you. His breath fanning over your lips and chin
"use your words flower," he calls you out on your stuttering, but never let's you finish as he captures your lips in a heated, and fiery kiss. His hands hold the back your head as he drags you further into his kiss. The kiss was passionate, messy and full of lust. You kiss him back with as much lust and want as him. feeling a magnetic pull towards him His lips trail from your lips to your cheek, continuing to your jaw and leading to your neck
"no...wait....stop-" he gasp trying to push him away
"Y/N...just let me-"
"Noah. Stop please...." after the second plea he stops and looks up at you "....I want to go....home. Please"
"...a-alright, I'll have Henry send this home...I" he stands up and steps back from you "I...I apologize." he clears his throat and leaves the room for you
You begin to dress yourself, your hands shaking with each article you pick up. You felt your chest squeeze and ache. Something wet drops on to your hand. Looking up to the mirror, you see your eyes water. Tears? Crying? You weren’t hurt, or scared or anything…..so why? Why?
…………
The ride home was quiet. You sat in the front seat with Nick once again, watching as the rain slammed against the windshield. The tension in the car was as thick as a concrete. Nick hadn’t stepped in knowing it may have been something serious. Your clothes would be delivered to your home sometime in the week, since you left in a hurry.
Coming up the familiar path and round the driveway. Noah gave Nick instructions as he gets out of the car with an umbrella. You see him rounding the car to come and get you, but you didn’t wait. You got out of the car in the pouring rain and walked to the door.
“Hey!” Noah calls for you “would you stop being so fucking stubborn already?”
You just ignore him and keep walking, wrapping your arms around your self as you inch towards the door.
“Y/N Sebastian!” When had he ever call you that? You finally stop and whip around. Your drenched hair sticking to your face as you stare him down. He drops the umbrella and marches to you
“Listen to me.” He stops in front of you, just as close as the last time, if not closer. “You’ve said your piece and now you hear mine.”
“Well fucking say it already! It’s not like you’re gonna make it any better” your eyebrows knit together, as that same fire from that night lit in your eyes
“You aren’t scared of me. That much is clear,” his clenched and unclenches “so what the fuck are you so afraid of? Huh?”
You take a moment as your chest heaves
“….what I’m becoming….” You answer never breaking your eyes from his
“You’ve become my wife already, get it over it” he answers you. His head lowering closer to yours once again
“Legally….im not your wife.” You sneer at him. The rain drenching you both as you stood there in a face off.
“Oh but you are..” he said in hushed but husky voice “you already answered to my name, that makes you mine.”
Your waist is pulled into his body as your lips crash once again. However, you don’t fight it this time. Your nails claw and grab at his wet clothes, as his large hands hold you as close to him as humanly possible. His arms pick you up off the group and wraps your legs around his waist. He carries you towards the mansion doors, slipping inside and closing it shut. The heavy oak doors slamming shut, sewing you both away from the storm.

He doesn’t remember how long he’s been riding. If he had to guess, maybe two hours? Maybe three?
It doesn’t matter anyways. He’s going until his bike breaks down. And with a quick glance at the speedometer and fuel gauge, that may be soon.
But he keeps pushing, despite the freezing cold wind that has been his sole companion for the past.. however long. He can’t seem to remember how many miles it’s been since he initially left.
He can’t remember.
It doesn’t matter anyways. He’s going until his bike breaks down. And with a quick glance at the speedometer and fuel gauge, that may be soon.
But he keeps pushing, despite the freezing cold wind that has been his sole companion for the past…
The bike is sputtering. It’s struggling to use the last of the gaseous fumes in the tank.
God, he could have sworn he had a little less than twenty miles left before that started happening. It doesn’t matter anyways. He’s going until his bike—
His heart drops as he shakily sets his feet back to the ground. The bike rattles and sputters a bit before it is completely out of gas, making him curse. Snow is slowly descending from the gray sky above.
The air is wrapping its frigid tendrils around him as he remains sitting on the bike. His breathing is heavy, and the breath that puffs out just in front of his face lingers for a moment before dissipating. The grip he has on the handlebars is turning his knuckles white with the strain. But it doesn’t matter.
It doesn’t fucking matter.
The fear settling into his stomach feels like lead, the suddenness of it making him queasy. In the back of his mind he can hear a desperate scream pleading for him to run. From what, he isn’t sure. But he has the innate feeling of being watched, his spine tingling in response.
He doesn’t allow himself to idle any longer. He scrambles off the bike and begins running forward in the direction he had been originally traveling. His sneakers pound against the lonely asphalt — seemingly the only sound out here.
The fear accumulating in his intestines is growing stronger and more severe. His throat tightens with tears, but he keeps pumping his legs as fast as he can.
Up ahead, there’s a gleam of headlights heading this way. Panic drives a stake through his chest when he sees a car round the line of trees. Despite the panic inside of him, he can’t help the desire he feels to be found. He wants nothing more to be found and taken home to where nothing can hurt him ever again.
But he knows better. And as the first tear slides down his reddened cheek he darts off to the side and disappears into the darkening woods.
He isn’t sure how long he hurries through the trees and bushes. But his vision is blurring as nighttime rapidly approaches, accompanied by the steady fall of snow down through the forest’s canopy. Everything is dark and hazy.
His lungs burn. His feet ache. The tears he had shed have dried and froze to his face.
He can’t do this any longer. He can’t keep running away. This needs to end.
With his hand outstretched, he catches himself against a tree, forcing his body to stop. He’s panting and wheezing when his feet finally stop moving. There’s a sharp pain in his side, but the broad scrape along his palm distracts him.
Even in the growing darkness, the red bloom of blood is a stark contrast to the white snow flurries. It makes him dizzy.
Swallowing his nausea, he backs away from the tree. The snow is swirling all around him, the pearly flakes falling in silence. All he can hear is the pounding of his heart in his ears and the labored breaths wheezing out through his mouth.
He begins trudging through the frost and cold. He doesn’t have a destination in mind, so he ventures deeper into the dark trees that undoubtedly lead to the heart of the woods. It sends a jolt of fear through him, but he does his best to ignore it while walking.
As he walks, the snow crunching quietly beneath his sneakers, he still can’t seem to shake the sensation of eyes on him. Someone — or something — has been following him for miles. Why, he doesn’t know. But the fear festering inside of him is intermingling with his anxiety and terror, and it has his instincts yelling and begging him to break into a run and flee.
However, he ignores the tug in his stomach that is urging him to save himself. The moment he stepped foot beyond the tree line he knew he wouldn’t be spared by the massive, silent sentinels permanently rooted in the earth. He’s become numb to the dread now.
So he keeps walking. His fingers are numb; he doesn’t even register the blood slipping down his hand in rivulets, each drip falling to the pure snow in fat droplets.
It is completely dark now. Nighttime has fallen over the woods.
Off to his right comes a sound like branches snapping. He stops in his tracks, not daring to look off to the side, even though he knows he’ll be met with nothing but darkness.
He almost starts moving again when he doesn’t hear anything else in that direction. His head is spinning from the wave of nauseating panic that floods his veins.
The silence persists and he hesitantly keeps walking.
He worries he may puke from the overwhelming fear that is rupturing his intestines. If he wanted to he could book it back towards the road and–
More branches crack and break. Snow crunches rhythmically, like footsteps.
His stomach sinks. Is there someone else out here?
The dread flooding his veins is stifling as he waits for the noises to stop so he can continue walking. But the snapping of wood and shuffling of snow doesn’t stop. Instead, with each passing second, it grows louder and louder. And not in volume, but in distance, like whatever is making these noises is creeping closer to him.
He is petrified. His breathing is heavy and his limbs are shaking. That thing in the recesses of his mind is deafeningly loud as it screams and shouts for him to book it out there.
The sounds are getting louder. He swears he can hear breathing aside from his own.
That’s all he needed to pivot to the left and sprint off into the inky black shadows.
He’s running like his life depends on it. He stumbles and trips over hidden rocks and roots and branches, but he keeps pushing, despite the freezing cold wind that has been his sole companion for the past.. however long. He can’t seem to remember how many miles it’s been since he initially left.
After what he assumes to have been five minutes, he thinks he may have lost whatever was stalking him. He nearly slows down, until there are heavy, pounding footsteps at his back. He dares a glance over his shoulder, but is only met with nothing but darkness. And those foreboding footfalls that are gaining speed.
He keeps running. He narrowly misses trees and clips his shoulders on others. More rocks and other unseen earthly objects catch his feet, and, at one point, his shoelace comes undone after getting snagged on a branch. The loosened lace whips wildly as he struggles to run.
His chest is tight and his entire abdomen is screaming in anguish at the intense exertion he has experienced over the past few hours. Exhaustion and hunger have sunken their talons into him, neither interested in releasing him any time soon.
Then he sees it. Up ahead, through the trees, he sees light beating down into a large clearing. He forces himself to make it to the clearing, despite how tempting it feels to allow his legs to give out from beneath him.
Once he makes it past the trees and into the clearing, he realizes the light he’d seen was from the full moon shining brightly against the dissipating clouds of snow. In front of him is a three-story house, its exterior ugly and gray after being exposed to the elements for so long. The front porch faces him and he leaps onto the old, creaking wood gladly.
As he goes to try the tarnished gold door knob he remembers his pursuer. He looks back to the woods expecting to see something, anything, half hidden by the shadows to gain some kind of insight on what it may have been. But his tired eyes see nothing from either end of the clearing at the front of the decrepit house. With a trembling hand he twists the door knob, relieved to find it unlocked, and walks inside.
It’s dark in here, but not quite as dark as the forest he had just stumbled through for hours. The house is faintly illuminated by the moonbeams shining in through the windows scattered about.
“Hello?” His voice breaks as he speaks. “Is anyone here?”
He idles in the entryway for a few moments. When he receives no response he gingerly steps into the room to his left. The wood groaning under his feet makes him cringe.
He’s entered what appears to be the front room, or living room. There is a rundown sofa in the center of the room, a matching chair on either side of it. Even through the thick layer of dust on each piece of furniture he can make out the color of the fabric as red. A rectangular coffee table sits in the middle of the cushioned seats, a layer of dust obscuring the glass top. A few empty bookcases are pressed nestled in the corner at his back. Even more dust clings to the wood.
It’s freezing inside the large home, but at least it is warmer than what it is outside. His teeth quietly chatter as he rounds the couch and gingerly sits on the far end. He coughs and sputters at the dusty cloud that erupts as he situates himself. But that’s when he notices it.
On the wall he faces from his position on the couch is a large, grand fireplace. The red brick matches nicely with the rest of the furnishing. His heart tugs at the thought of a fiery warmth, but he knows it’s best to keep that small iron gate where it is stretched across that black, hollow space. He turns his gaze upward to the mantle, and the sight that stares back at him leaves him momentarily speechless.
A massive mirror hangs from the wall, the sheer size and width of it spanning further than the fireplace beneath it. It is framed in what is clearly more iron. Even from where he is sitting he can make out the intricate detailing in the tarnished metal.
The mirror is angled in just the right way where he can see the entirety of the room he’s in. He can see the shelves behind him in the corner and the windows that face the front of the house. Compared to the rest of this room he looks tiny. Amongst the old furniture and the suffocating dust and mold it is more than evident that he does not belong here. Despite the scrapes that marr his skin and the few snowflakes still hiding in his hair — everything that is making him fit in perfectly with this abandoned house — he knows he shouldn’t be here. This is just a pit stop.
But that mirror…
He continues staring at it. Something one of his friends told him once is playing on repeat in his tired mind: if you stare at yourself in a mirror long enough, your reflection doesn’t look like you.
He always called bullshit on that. It didn’t seem logical or like it was even possible in the first place.
But he swears the glass is beginning to ripple. The shadows in the reflection pulse and ungulate and his heart is racing once more. He needs to get out of here. He’ll run the risk of facing whatever is outside, whatever was chasing him, rather than mess with this enormous looking glass.
Instead of heading towards the front door he is drawn to the mirror, an unseen force beckoning him. His head feels hazy and filled with fog as he approaches the fireplace. The mirror is drawing him in and he isn’t sure why, or why he’s giving in to this phantom seduction.
Behind him in the mirror’s glass he sees figures emerging from the shadows. Or he thinks he does. His eyes must be playing tricks on him with his attention fixed somewhere else.
Once he is face-to-face with the mirror he feels faint and woozy. His head is spinning like a top, and he fears he may pass out. Maybe his hunger and exhaustion are finally catching up to him, and that moment of rest is really sinking in.
Then he’s falling backwards, his arms remaining limp at his sides. His body crashes into the floor like a sack full of rocks. His head collides with the wood and his vision goes black.
The last thing he remembers is the sound of shattering glass and cold covering every inch of his frail body.

Long ago, in ages past, all living things commanded infinite power and roamed unchecked across the land. They were as spirits and could speak and perform strong magic. Though in time, an evil had spread across the land, and it was decided that the world’s magic needed to be protected.
That’s what a lot of children in this part of the Shenandoah Valley was told, as part of some tales told by their Grannies. But not miss Elin Young. When she was a child, she was taught that those were selfish practices.
“Darkness only sought to make all creatures equal,” her granny told her, “and to share their power totally amongst all things…” But still, some creatures wanted to keep their strengths secret, and concealed their divinity, leaving the world lifeless and dull. Only the wise Watcher of the Woods remembered how the world had been, and could guide others to true Enlightenment.
Elin Young had done a lot of things most people would have been ashamed of in her past, but it had all been in the name of that such True Enlightenment, she told herself. She had sacrificed much in the journey, but she had remained strong. There was no way anything would stand in her way.
At least that’s what she tried to tell herself as she bled out into the cold, dark earth.
As that same ancient dirt beneath her leeched the warmth from her bones, she couldn’t help but wonder if it was worth it in the end, if this was the end she was receiving. Lying on a bed of pine needles, her body torn asunder, was not what she envisioned. It was not what the Watcher of the Woods had promised her.
It had been exactly a year and a day since the disastrous summer solstice, when a new Vessel was supposed to be Hollowed and Imbued with the Black Stag’s might. Instead, the Towering Man had stolen that might and kept it for himself, selfishly hoarding it from her Family. Through that year and a day, Elin remained strong, her belief telling her that the Revered Father would return to reclaim his stolen crown.
But earlier this dark night, the Family had tried to summon the Black Stag and instead was met with the form of a beast: a pale, silver-furred Grim whose eyes danced with glee when he saw the meal that had assembled before him. The congregation tried to scatter and she knew that they were being picked off, judging by their screams.
Elin had escaped the Grim only to have a brush with the second of the horrors of the Shenandoah Valley. Luckily, the Drowned had been preoccupied with his own victims, lured to him by his siren song, and then torn apart by his teeth and claws. Elin had pressed on, certain that she would soon find her way out of the woods.
Finally, she had felt certain that she was near the edge of the woods, when she had run into a familiar face. “Nick! Oh my god, thank goodness I found–”
Elin had barely gotten those words out when she felt herself freeze, and before she turned around, she swore she could see Nick’s eyes glow green in his stony face. Against her will, she started moving back into the woods. In horror, she realized that Nicholas was as he trailed behind her, directing her further and further in, until they had reached the place where the old and twisted oak tree grew.
There she was forced to kneel down. She, however, was not forced to plead for mercy, but she did anyway. Her only warning of what was to come was the creaking of trees and the rustling of leaves as the tree… moved.
And one of the people she sacrificed in the name of True Enlightenment came face to face with her.
AFTER ALL YOU’VE DONE TO ME?
said the new Watcher of the Woods.
DID YOU ACTUALLY THINK THE PAIN YOU CAUSED ME WOULD SEND ME TO AN EARLY GRAVE? DID YOU ACTUALLY THINK I COULDN’T BREAK THOSE CHAINS AFTER ALL THE HELL YOU MADE ME OVERCOME?
And then the new Watcher shifted his face into something vaguely familiar, and the young woman wept from fear at last. In front of Elin stood the man she betrayed to the Revered Father, who two years ago she had coerced into the woods.
Elin bowed her head and cried, “Please forgive me! I never wanted to do those things! They made me do them! I still love you!” She was willing to say anything, even lie through her teeth, if it meant she could walk out of this alive.
And the Watcher knew this, because he laughed before saying,
YOU WERE THE REASON I WAS CONSUMED BY THE DARK; THE REASON I WAS CONSUMED BY THE BLACK. I ALMOST LOST MYSELF IN ALL THE LIES YOU TOLD, BUT I’M BACK NOW, AND STRONGER THAN YOU’D THINK.
Noah Davis was a sweet boy when she first met him. His mother had just died, but he still had a spark in him. A spark that the Revered Father coveted, and would eventually claim. And maybe that’s why he was unrecognizable as he flung her around.
And now, as he leaned over her, she knew the humanity had really left him.
THERE’S A LOT OF HOLLOW SOULS OUT HERE IN THESE WOODS; A LOT WHO WOULD LOVE TO SEE YOU BURN. AND IF YOU DO SEE YOUR SO-CALLED “FATHER,” TELL HIM I’VE GOT A MESSAGE FOR HIM.
And he left her to die, there, alone.
Despite her faith, despite all that she sacrificed, she died unfulfilled. The only thing she held onto in her black heart was the hatred for the man who left her to die, who cheated her out of what she had been promised. She was glad that the Black Stag had taken his heart, for he could never know love again.
And if he did… well, nothing in these woods ever truly stayed dead.

Here are my personal Bad Omens headcanons
This is my impression of what the guys would be like with the reader <3
Contains: vampire omens, reader death, graphic violence, stalking
Nick
He likes thrills. You're aware that he's stalking you long before he makes a move because seeing you getting nervous excites him. Once he does reveal himself, it's just the beginning. He'll push you to the ground, then disappear. You'll get up and start running. He'll break your ribs and leave. You'll keep looking for help. He'll make you bleed but he won't take a bite until you're crying because he likes teasing himself. Finally he'll hold you down and start feeding. You have some fight left so you overpower him, maybe get some hits in and start running again, just to realise that it's all part of his game when he easily catches you again. How many times do you "escape" before you're too dizzy from blood loss to walk?
Nick's a messy eater and you're both covered in your blood by the time you die. He's bitten into every exposed spot he can reach, sometimes just licking at places once or twice before moving on. Hopefully they won't need to identify you by your torn up tattoos.
Jolly
The total opposite of Nick. He'll stalk you, but he'll close in and smash your head against a wall before you sense the danger. You'll probably be dead when he starts feeding. There's no finesse to his technique, if he's lucky you'll just lose consciousness and your beating heart will pour your blood into his mouth. You're a stranger, but he doesn't want you struggling and suffering.
If you're alive, he'll feed from your upper arm because he likes the soft flesh. If you're dead, he'll sit you against a wall and feed from your tummy, let gravity push the blood out.
Nicholas
He doesn't stalk you, you go to him. One way or another, you find yourself in his big, finely decorated house staring at paintings of his dead loved ones. You walk out in one piece so many times that you let yourself think that he's no threat to you, you have a good relationship with him, he likes you too much to kill you. He's got a lot to say about the grief of immortality and you foolishly listen. He never tries to convince anyone to die for him, but somehow he does. You're just another tragedy in his beautifully melancholic story, of course you'll let him consume you. You keep listening to him talk about predators, prey and inevitability while he restrains you. You could have left and never come back, the door isn't locked, but you didn't even try to go.
He likes inner thighs. It's intimate and he doesn't have to look at your face while he betrays you as he was always doomed to. You could kick him off, but you stare at the ceiling and let him feed instead.
Noah
He's similar to Nicholas in that you've known him for a while and you trust him before he makes a move. You're either his romantic type or a close friend. He breaks in one night when you're sleeping. He tries not to wake you up, but you do wake up and try to fight. He says he's sorry and he cares about you but he needs your blood. He keeps apologising the whole time he's killing you and he really is sorry. He breaks his own heart a lot, targeting people he likes.
Favourite place is the chest. He likes that he can savour feedings with the low blood flow. Maybe he'll have a few cheeky cuddles while he's there, the affectionate fuck.

Nick walks into the living room and sits on the couch "Are you ready to just relax this weekend?" He says while looking at me.
I turn to look at him with a big smile on my face while getting comfortable next to him"uhmm yes. School has me wanting to rip out my hair. It's just been so hectic with studying for finals. It has me on the verge of a mental breakdown. But I am glad to be here. So no more school and work talk."
Nick puts his arm around me and kisses my head "sounds like a plan babe. I forgot to mention that being up here, we dont get very good or any signal and the wifi has been out for a couple of days now. I got an email about it before I came up here. I have been trying to have someone come out to fix it but it has been difficult."
Leaning into his arm, I jokingly say "well that sucks. How am i suppose to let my family and friends know that I havent been kidnapped or killed?"
Nick throws his head back and laughs "Don't worry. I'll protect you from anything Michelle."

A Friend Down In Hell Masterlist - COMPLETE
Tumblr media
You'll have a friend down in Hell after all
pairing: Nick Folio x ofc (Ishtar)
summary: Folio can't quite tell you how long he's been dead, punishment realms do that to you, but it doesn't matter when he has friends like his, and Ishtar. Ishtar, with whom he fell in love the moment he met her. The problem? She doesn't know it. How does he convince a demon, who is practically immortal, to date him when he's dead? How did Ellie do it so easily?
Authors Note: Tag list is open, feel free to let me know! I welcome all kinds of feedback, but please, be respectful.
