So I have been wanting to make a Nezuko cosplay for a while, but I'm a bit confused about what she is wearing. I can't figure out if she is wearing a kimono or a Yukata. I was wondering if you could maybe answer that question.
Remember to drink water and have a nice day :)
My teapot has my daily watering covered thank you for the reminder ;)
As for your question, considering Demon slayer "historical" time, Nezuko would definitly wear a (lined) kimono as her daily clothes (I have covered the subject here).
Historically, 浴衣 yukata were linen then cotton bath-time clothing (that what the 浴 yu means). They were first worn in the bath (yukatabira 湯帷子), then as bathrobes when communal baths spread from 16th century and onward. They were mainly white with indigo dyed patterns (=shades of blue/green).
As daily wear kimono dwindled, yukata spread as informal summer clothing, especially for matsuri events. This informal wear might be linked to the popularity of onsen vacations, as it was common for ryokan (traditional inns) to proved to their guests a nemaki 寝巻き (kind of informal sleepclothes also worn to stroll around onsen towns, suuuper close to yukata in both material/use/shape).
As to your Nezuko cosplay, tbh if it's easier for you to find/make a yukata, go for it! Nowaday, it's not unusual for people to wear their nice yukata dress-up as a kimono (=over a juban) :)
Construction is similar between kimono and yukata anyway. Yukata are simply made from cotton and unlined, so it will be much easier to dress and more confortable to wear - especially in conv heat!
Hope it helps!

Can you tell us what a nemaki is?
Nemaki has two different meanings depending on what it's applied to. A nemaki in the karyukai is the silver paper strip underneath the mage of the geiko's shimada hairstyle that signifies whether she is jimae or not. A nemaki kimono is used at hot springs resorts and is very similar to a yukata, but instead of having kimono sleeves it just has tubular sleeves ^^

(Chatting) I would love to give you a lil treat! After all you keep me fed on the regular! Please Enjoy!
On top a small dresser lays two piles of neatly folded daywear. You hand Ingo his pile and he turns from you to give you privacy like the gentleman he is. Unfortunately for him, you’ll be stealing glances the second he’s out of his nemaki. So, as you slip your underwear up to your hips, your eyes settle on his silver bedhead before working down. Standing upright and looping your arms through your bra straps before pulling the clasps together, you pass your gaze over a sturdy neck and scar-ridden broad shoulders. Two years bearing the unforgiving wilderness of Hisui changed your husband in a number of ways. For starters, he’s no longer the lanky man who waited for you at the foot of the alter, but a towering figure filled out with thick muscle. You slide on your trousers. Unfamiliar scars decorate his new physique. Callouses aren’t limited to the writer’s bump on his right hand anymore, leaving both of his gentle hand rough and ragged. You pull your kimono top shut, left over right, as per custom. You’d never complain about his hands, you enjoy the change in texture, but if you dwell on that now (and the defined line that runs down his back), you’ll not leave the cabin on schedule. You finish tying the obi.
Snapping back to reality, you notice a blush tinging his ears, he felt you staring. Though he wasn’t quick to hide his upper half from you, he did manage to pull on his slacks and belt them before you could blatantly stare at his ass. You smirk and finally give getting dressed your full attention. Unzipping your waist bag, you ensure you have the essentials plus a tasuki to hold your kimono sleeves back later. Everything is ready. Good. You fasten the belt over your obi similarly to how an obijime would be worn. Quickly, you comb your hair before pulling it back. Wrapping up, you hook the small cord that holds your pokeballs to your belt, slide on your socks and apply a moisturizing balm to your lips. Lastly, you smooth over your clothes. You’re ready. In the corner of your eyes you can see Ingo is as well, wearing his Pearl Clan Tunic, putting his shoes on in the genkan. He’s no longer flushed when you join him. His eyes are soft when he hands you your haori, “Are you ready to depart, dearest,” he asks as you add on the additional layer of cloth and tie it closed.

ive been losing my mind over this all day. what the fuck is he wearing. my verdict has gone from shitty yukata to jinbei to "no it can't be jinbei because the pants are attached" to "no hold on those aren't pants" to "fuck it i'm gonna say nemaki because if i have to think about it anymore i'll die" to my girlfriend going "just call it a hospital robe in the fic and be done with it"
then he just gets different pajamas which he's shown in for the rest of this mini arc

~ JAPAN M7,3 EARTHQUAKE - MARIO'S REPORT ~
Mario updated his Twitter again. This time he decided to give a little report according to the M7,3 earthquake which occured today at around 23:00 Japanese time near Miyagi and Fukushima undersea. In his tweet Mario wrote the following:
"I'm sorry the live broadcast had to end halfway.
I could contact my parents and I got confirmation that they're safe Apparently, it seems the inside of the house is in a rough [condition]
Everyone, please catch on the correct information precisely. It's impossible to say not to remember, but please, make sure you're safe and have a rest."
As for the "remembering" Mario mentioned, he referred to the Tohoku Earthquake what occured 10 years ago on March 11 near Sendai (his hometown) undersea and what he experienced by himself. Today's earthquake occured about at the same place where the Tohoku was.
As I wrote above, there was an earthquake in northeastern Japan today (February 13) at 23:08 Japanese time. The Meteorological Agency said the focus was off the coast of Fukushima Prefecture at a depth of 55 kilometers. There is no threat for tsunami. At this moment it appears 852,000 household are without power. Injuries have been reported in Miyagi and Fukishima prefectures.
If you wish to read further about the earthquake, please refer to the links given in the sources below.
If anyone of you is there in Japan right now, please make sure you're safe, you have warm blankets and some food stocked up, just in case. I'm praying for everyone's safety.

Book Review: ‘The Sorcerer King of Destruction and the Golem of the Barbarian Queen’ #2
Tumblr media
The Sorcerer King of Destruction and the Golem of the Barbarian Queen (Light Novel) Vol. 2 by Northcarolina My rating: 4 of 5 stars The newly branded sorcerer king, previously heralded as the one to bring ruin to all the world, journeys westward and finally stumbles upon a human settlement. More of a waystation, really. Just a place to stop for a comfortable bed, a bite to eat, and perhaps exchange a few goods for local currency. What could possibly go wrong? THE SORCERER KING OF DESTRUCTION #2 picks up where the previous volume concluded. The protagonist and his golem guardian roll into a rural town and mix it up with the locals. But as one might assume, nothing really goes according to plan. Nemaki and Gol clash with regional gangsters, interrupt the business of local merchants, and accidentally manifest a reputation as a nightmarish duo of sorcerer and warrior witch. The last of these is the result of a gradual pooling of the random acts of violence, keen drama, and patient storytelling readers pocketed from the book series' previous installment. As with the first book, THE SORCERER KING OF DESTRUCTION #2 is not for fans of isekai tales who favor the immediacy of all-or-nothing adventure sagas. It is a sometimes agonizingly slow read, with the narrator simmering over minute details and rummaging through alternate scenarios for pages at a time. During fight scenes, for example, Nemaki will spend an eternity negotiating tactics with himself. So much so, the inertia of the battle tends to fade by the time anything substantive occurs. It's great to know the man is sensitive to his surroundings, but listening to him internally debate the merits of his abilities without end, in the middle of a battle, when he should be acting on behalf of the golem standing in front of him, is a bit of a letdown. Also, again, this is not the novel for fans who rely on sycophantic banter between the titles romantic interests. And despite the introduction of new human characters, such as a magic-tool merchant, his daughter, and a handful of assassins, the novel's overreliance on the narrator to speak to the mental and emotional state of every scene amounts to a spectacular draw on reader attention and stamina. Nemaki is famously clueless in some facets of his awareness. And while this is part of the book's humor, one must also note how the author narrowly frames and applies most of the book's dialogue. To clarify, the dialogue is less natural and rhythmic than it is doggedly convenient. These inadequate speech dynamics aren't bad, per se, merely a signal to readers of the author's creative limitations. Altogether, readers who enjoyed the first volume will surely enjoy the current volume. Nemaki continues to cause trouble for others despite intending goodwill. His golem, Goltarou, continues to cause all sorts of mayhem, violence, and torture despite her ruby-red eyes and wan smile. The narrator's comical inability to put two and two together, to draw the simplest conclusions, is plentiful. This includes his failing to realize Gol's accidental downing of a massive, feral deer was the fortuitous killing of the infamously destructive Flame Bicorn ("Why do I feel like I've seen those features on something before? [..] My imagination as acting up," p. 212), as well as his failing to realize that when he wipes down Gol's body every night, he's effectively giving her a sensual massage and mistakes her arousal for discomfort ("There could be no doubt; she was definitely malfunctioning. I was racked with a horrible regret," p. 130). And while the action scenes in THE SORCERER KING OF DESTRUCTION #2 carry the delayed drama of a character too caught up in his own thoughts, they deliver nonetheless. Gol faces off against new golem types, Nemaki must outsmart the group tactics of multiple baddies, and in one scene in particular, the two pair up for an awkward but cleverly written interrogation whose decadence doesn't quite manifest until much later in the story.

Come Back Inside | Yandere!Sanemi x Reader
Tumblr media
If you haven’t read the entire manga then Sanemi may come across as OOC. No warnings for this story, enjoy!
Warning: This story contains mention of vomiting and forced feedings/sedation.  Read with caution if any of the themes are triggering.
Dozens of eyes stared back into your dazed ones, bewildered by your sudden presence.
You sluggishly limped forward, a weak sob leaving your dry throat as you reached out for any of the staring slayers, “Please-help me!”
Your memory was so hazy, but you did remember one important detail; you weren’t here out of free will.  Sanemi had kidnapped you after you’d been badly injured during a mission.
You had come to, finally, after who knows how long and escaped from the room that Sanemi had oh-so-lovingly kept you locked up and drugged in.
The training slayers glanced at each other in silent conversation, one group nodding before leaving-and you felt your heart drop.
“NO!” You screamed out, trying and failing to stop the boys from leaving.  Your knees buckled beneath you and you fell to the dirt ground, it’d been so long since you’d been able to move your legs in such a way and you could still feel that they weren’t healed from the constant ache that throbbed from your ankles to your knees.
You reached a hand out in warning, “P-PLEASE!  Don’t get him!  He kidnapped me!  Sanemi kidnapped me!  He-he’s crazy!” You rambled, but the slayers didn’t bother to listen.
The way that their eyes only showed pity made you want to scream.
“Poor thing, she really did lose her mind...”
“Yeah... should we get her back inside?”
“No, Sanemi told us to let him deal with it.  Just make sure she doesn’t run away.”
A wave of nausea crashed into you at their words.
Of course Sanemi would make everyone believe that you were crazy.
When in reality, he was the crazy one.
Drugging you so you’d stay drowsy and submissive, forcing you to depend on him for your basic needs.
But he’d recently forgotten to give you your medicine, allowing your mind and body to strengthen just enough to escape from your room and find help.
Now, though, you were starting to think this was all a bad idea.
“(Y/N)?” Sanemi’s gruff voice made you flinch and you could feel the tears welling in your eyes when you saw him slowly stalking towards you, as if you were some cornered animal.
And honestly, you probably did.
Your mouth opened in horror and you weakly scrawled backwards, away from him towards the woods, “GET AWAY! NO MORE! I-” The wave of nausea came back full force and you turned your head to the side, throwing up your breakfast from earlier that morning.
It was all too much.
Finally getting outside only to have that freedom smashed in front of you by the one who took it was too much for you to handle and with your loss of breakfast, came the loss of your remaining will to fight as well.
“Ah, (Y/N),” Sanemi sighed, crouching down to your level when he reached you.  He took the time to gently wipe your trembling lips off with the sleeve of your nemaki and smiled as you stared at him with wide eyes, “You see why I don’t want you going outside by yourself?”
You wanted to spit in his face.
“All you had to do was ask if we could go outside.  I know that being inside all day recovering can’t be fun, but going outside by yourself is too much for you.”
How dare he talk to you like some child?  How dare he take away your independence and free will?
You moved your face away from his scarred hand.
“Ge-Get away from me.” You growled lowly, trying your best to sound threatening despite being hunched over on the ground.
Your lips trembled as you spoke again after a moment, “I hate you.”  It was barely above a whisper, but you know he still heard you.
Sanemi blinked, surprised by your hostility.  The silence was almost too much for you and just as you opened your mouth to say more, he beat you to it.
“You’re just grumpy... I get it.” He picked you up bridal style, despite your protests, “I’ll give you a good lunch and then we’ll put you down for another nap-”
Your hand pushed against his face weakly trying to distance yourself away from him as far as possible, “No!  Put me down!” You sobbed.
You didn’t want to sleep anymore. You were tired of sleeping, only waking up to be force-fed while you cried in confusion and bathed and touched without your consent.
You wanted to go back to hunting demons.
Though, that part of your life was probably over now, seeing as Sanemi made everyone think you’d lost it since your last battle.
Sanemi hushed you gently, “Don’t worry, we’ll try going outside again another time.  Right now, I know you need more rest and I’ve got just the medicine that will help you relax until dinner.  That’s why I’m here.” He had that soft smile on his face again. “You need someone to take care of you until you get better.”
And to think that you used to love that smile too.
You could do nothing but sob as the wind hashira you once cared for carried you back to your prison without a care in the world.

The look of... III: Osaka-Nanchi
Historical context "Nanchi" (南地), referring to southern Osaka, was originally an umbrella term for five Hanamachi, called Kuroemon-cho (久郎右衛門町), Soemon-chô (宗右衛門町), Namba-shinchi (難波新地), Saka-cho (坂町) and Yagura-cho (櫓町). It is said that in 1935, around 2000 Geiko and Maiko called Nanchi their home, making it the biggest Hanamachi in Japan. Geiko numbers declined heavily in the meantime. Other big cities like Kyoto and Tokyo could maintain a fairly high number of traditional entertainers (currently ca 260 Geiko and Maiko in Kyoto and ca 200 Geisha and Hangyoku in Tokyo, plus a hand full of Taikomochi), whereas Osaka's Hanamachi population is currently around 10 Geiko and no Maiko. From at least 2014 to 2018, there was only one Geiko working in Nanchi, a veteran of the profession named Kikutsuru (菊つる). It's likely she has retired meanwhile, as no mentioning of her was found after the official introduction of Tanigawa's (たに川) fresh blood in May 2019.
Tanigawa was founded in 1969 and is Nanchi's only remaining Ochaya/Okiya. After a long drought period with no apprentice actually making it to debuting as a Geiko, five Geiko have debuted from this business since 2019 and one more should debut later this year or maybe in 2022, depending on how the general situation in Japan develops.

Tachikata ※ Hairstyle: Geiko Shimada Katsura ※ Kanzashi: Kushi, Maezashi, Hirauchi in the back. Nemaki cut ca 1 year after debut. At occasions which require the wear of Kuromontsuki, additional Bekkô Kogai is worn in the back. New year's celebrations see the addition of a rice husk in front and the Hirauchi may be swapped for prong kanzashi with coral Tama. ※ Make-up: both lips painted, Oshiroi ※ Eri: white ※ Kimono: Hikizuri. Kuromontsuki have white lining. Komon pattern seems to be very popular. ※ Obiage: red, during the summer months pink (also applies to Juban colour) ※ Obi: Taiko Musubi ※ Obijime: flat, single knot ※ Footwear: mostly Geta, Zori are worn with Montsuki Kimono

Notes: ※ Tachikata have the opportunity to wear the "casual" outfit instead of Katsura+Hikizuri (Tamizuru did so five to six months after her debut) ※ the two Jikata who debuted since 2019 didn't appear in promotional photos after their debut, but sometimes, you can get a glimpse of them ※ Minarai wear the "casual" outfit until a few months before their debut. Their professional names are revealed around 1 month after becoming minarai. ※ every year on 14. June, the Ochaya owner and Geiko (and others who are unrelated to the Hanamachi) appear in public wearing dark-coloured Iromuji (purple, dark blue), visiting Sumiyoshi-Taisha shrine, where a ritual called Otaue shinji (御田植神事) takes place. It has been designated as an "important intangible Folk cultural Asset" by the national government as one of the most representative rituals in Japan. ※ before the debut of Yaezuru, Tamizuru and Tamako, Geiko from Nara and Kitashinchi were frequent guests at Tanigawa ※ Miyagawacho Geiko Tae (多栄) was originally working as a Geiko named Fukuemi (福笑) in Nanchi, before retiring in 1993. She continued to teach Nagauta in Osaka until she debuted as a Geiko again in 2017 ※ once again, thanks a lot to @geimaiko for inspiration and allowing me to use her layout. Go and check out her blog if you're interested in the Hanamachi! Lots of interesting stuff to read!

Hi! Justine hope you are well. I saw a couple of videos of Miyagawa cho's shin aisatsu. I think Fukutama and Chikaharu had no "wings" on their nemaki. If that's the case, when did they become jimae?
Fukutama actually became jimae only a few months after her erikae. She's quite popular and was able to make the leap fairly easy, even with the pandemic's restrictions. As for Chikaharu, I never noticed that her nemaki were cut before ^^
