sukuna finally, finally gets to see and taste his pretty best friend under him ⁀ ❣︎
Tumblr media
˚ʚ minors, ageless and blank blogs dni! ɞ˚
cw: virgin fem! reader, suggested perv! sukuna, cunnilingus, dirty talk, spitting
an: pt. 2 here!
Tumblr media
"ryo... stop staring," you whine softly as your fingers thread through his messy pink hair, throat bobbing up and down in nervousness. your best friend had made himself comfortable between your soft thighs, strong and tattooed arms wrapped around them like muscular garter belts, keeping you pried open for him and him only.
what started out as a relatively innocent night, watching movies with ryomen sukuna - your best friend of as long as you can remember - suddenly and somehow ended up with him between your legs, his crimson eyes focused intently on your glistening pussy.
sure, maybe the movie choice got the two of you a bit heated, the two main characters going at it like rabbits, the lewd sounds of squelching filling sukuna's living room. maybe it was the way that sukuna could hear your breath hitch when the male lead went down on the female protagonist.
or maybe it's the way he saw your luscious thighs squeeze together when he finally penetrated her, your body aching for that exact feeling.
and before you know it, the two of you were making out messily to the sounds of heavy moaning from the tv. the pink-haired man swiftly switches it off seeing as he would much rather hear your pretty noises. if he could, he'd inject your whimpers and sighs straight into his bloodstream.
your mind spins with arousal, the tension in the room heady with anticipation as you feel sukuna's warm breath fan against your aching core.
"tch, bossy brat," his gravelly voice breaks you out of your lust-filled stupor, your eyes darting down to meet his ones. "i'll stare for as long as i want to."
his gaze drops from yours and back to the sight before him, his thumb dragging down your slit to collect your honeyed juices as a satisfied hum leaves his throat.
"to think my best friend has been leavin' this pretty thing all to herself," sukuna mumbles to himself, his fingers spreading your pussy lips to let him see more of you. "bossy 'n selfish. ought to be punished."
he watches you, your body clenching and unclenching, clenching and unclenching, that tight little hole almost calling out to him, begging for him to fill it up with his huge and heavy cock.
"and to think i'm the first man to have ever seen this," your best friend spits, the glob of saliva landing straight on your pearl which drags out the sweetest gasp and whimper from you. "aren't i a lucky son of a bitch?"
the rough and calloused pad of his thumb circles that twitching nub on your body, the action causing you to squirm and buck even more, your ankles digging into the muscular planes of his back. your pussy drools onto the couch, your body leaking liquid sugar as he stares at your dribbling hole.
"what a waste," he continues to mutter to himself, another condescending tch leaving his lips. "what would you do without me?"
and before you know it, your best friend clamps his slightly chapped lips against your clit, sucking it harshly into his eager mouth.
"sukuna!" you yelp in response, fingers tugging aggressively into his pink locks which drags out a guttural groan, the vibrations sending pleasurable jolts through your spine.
"watch the hair, woman," he warns you, settling in and hunkering down between your thighs even more. "you're interruptin' my meal. and you know how i am with my food."
sukuna resumes his ministrations, flicking and rolling your clit with his tongue expertly. he writes his name out, the pink muscle spelling out each letter languidly, staking claim on your pussy – his pussy. it's messy and loud, the squelching that fills the room now, a harmonious yet lewd symphony when paired with your whimpers. sukuna slurps up your slick, his tongue darting into your hole to taste you directly from the source.
"so fuckin' sweet," he groans into you, his nose bullying your sensitive bundle of nerves as he dives in almost impossibly deeper, making out so sloppily with your pussy. "sweetest pussy i've ever had."
"ryo– m'gonna–" you whimper out, legs tensing and shivering, ankles digging, back arching. "please, pleasepleaseplease–"
"please what, brat?" sukuna quips back almost immediately, his crimson eyes pinning you down with a sharp gaze as he focuses on your expressions now. "use your words, pretty girl."
you try your best to formulate your wants, your needs through a sukuna-induced haze that has settled in your mind. your eyes are glassy and teary, drool pooling at the sides of your lips as your best friend eats your virgin body out within an inch of your life.
"please make me cum, ryooo," you hiccup, a harsh whine following your words when he slurps your sweetened juices loudly, causing you to flush in embarrassment and pleasure.
"good girl."
and just like that, he doubles down on his actions, dragging out a yelp of his name from your throat as your fingers tug and pull on his hair. it's messy and sloppy and loud, the noises that sukuna is making from between your thighs. the only thing in his mind right now is to make you cum. and hard.
he wanted to be the only one in your mind, tarnishing your innocent body with such pure, unadulterated pleasure that you wouldn't be able to find anyone else after this...
not that he would let his pretty best friend even have the chance to find someone else. not when you taste this sweet.
the bubble that has been brimming at the bottom of your spine finally pops with a candied cry of sukuna's name as a similar groan leaves his lips. and you realise, your name has never sounded more sinful.
he guides you through your orgasm, his tongue languidly coaxing more of your sweetened slick from your pulsing hole until he pulls away.
but before you could sit up to finally take everything in, sukuna drags his thumb through your swollen slit, an overstimulated whine leaving your lips once again. a dark chortle follows, his crimson eyes meeting your glassy ones, his glistening lips pulling up into a cocky smirk as a cocky question falls from them.
"you can give me one more, yeah, pretty?"

[1:29] 🕸️🖤 tattoo artist!sukuna
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
"so, you finally decided to get inked, huh?" sukuna purred, his intense gaze sending shivers down your spine. the way his plain white shirt and leather pants hugged his limbs did not help calm your nerves.
"i figured it was time," you replied, attempting to conceal the quiver in your voice while handing him the design you picked for your first tattoo.
sukuna's lips curved into a smirk, "hmm, a phoenix? bold choice. but it’s not just any tattoo y’know? once inked, it'll accompany you for a lifetime," he warned, his voice laced with a hint of challenge.
you nodded, your fingers tightly clutching the tattoo chair, in anxiousness or anticipation you don’t know. sukuna sat down on the stool next to you and his fingers traced your skin, sending sparks of electricity through your veins. "you sure you can handle this? it won't be a walk in the park," he warned, leaning in closer.
"i can handle more than you think," you retorted.
sukuna’s warm breath caressed your skin, igniting a tingling sensation as he traced the outline of the phoenix with masterful precision. despite the slight sting, you couldn't help but be captivated by the striking charm he exuded, his focused gaze and slightly parted lips adding to the allure.
"see something nice, sweetheart?" sukuna teased playfully, not once breaking his eyes away from your shoulder where the tattoo was taking shape.
you huffed without thinking, "nice is the last thing i would be thinking of when i look at you," the words slipping out before you could catch them, and the realization of what you had just said made your cheeks flush.
sukuna's laughter was low and magnetic enough to give you goosebumps, "oh yeah? what would be the first thing then?" he hinted with a devilish glint in his eyes.
you scoffed trying to regain your composure, "i’m not answering that."
as the needle danced on your skin, you held your breath fighting to stay composed under his touch. the mix of pain and pleasure heightened your senses, and sukuna's proximity only intensified the intoxicating sensation.
as sukuna finished his work, you turned to face the mirror allowing yourself to bask in the magnificence of the phoenix now etched on your skin. "told 'ya i could handle it, ryo," you said with a hint of pride in your voice.
“i knew you would. good job, princess.” he chuckled warmly, meeting your eyes in the mirror.
god, he can’t wait for you to come back for your next one.

“Challenge after challenge”
Ryo Kiritani (Yoru) x Radiant!VP Agent!Reader
[Gender Neutral Reader]
[A/N] = Agent Name
[Synopsis]: A Duelist and a Sentinel competing each other, but it’s more like Yoru is trying to one-up the new agent because he’s either bothered by their presence or it’s something~
[A/N]: I wrote the reader as a Radiant who manipulates metallic elements/materials since I don’t see anyone else pinching in this concept. Now if anyone ask, I also realized later that I based this from the Avatar franchise.
[A/N #2]: I want to thank @hhurric4ne for their help and feedback while writing this piece.
[Warning]: Yoru being a Tsundere/a show-off, injuries from accidents, teeth-rotting fluff, and may be a little OOC (but I’m working on the characters and their traits).
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
After Agent [A/N] joined the Valorant Protocol, they met some pretty interesting people. At first, they felt out of place and was obviously anxious since there are others like them who gained abilities after The First Light. Though, they still need more control over their Radiant powers of manipulating metallic sources. Luckily, some of the agents were there to be their mentors helping them and able to adapt during the first few weeks at the VP Headquarters.
Everyone like the new agent, except one who saw competition in them.
“Hey fam! KJ and Raze rebuilt the MAXBOT.” Phoenix chimed in the training area with the other agents hanging around. “Wanna see who can beat the robot this time?”
“How about the new agent?” Yoru voiced smugly, pointing over his shoulder behind him directing to [A/N], who was fooling around with scraps of iron. “Me?” Almost dropping their scraps. “I don’t think that’s a good idea since I need more control of my powers.” Protesting to save some trouble, but everybody is now interested to watch how they fight.
“Come on! We want to see how you use your Radiant abilities.” Raze insisted.
“Ja! And this can be an opportunity to help you with training.” Killjoy added as she finishes some codes on her laptop. “We can always rebuild MAXBOT back but with future upgrades.”
“Alright.” [A/N] sighed as they chose their gun of choice.
Jett explained to them about last time when some of the agents tried to defeat the MAXBOT, they almost died and the machine kept winning until everyone banded together to finally kill it off. Now it’s [A/N]’s turn to defeat the former cleaner bot.
“Heh. My money is still on the machine.” Yoru retorted to Jett like last time they bet. The Wind radiant groaned and called out to [A/N]. “Don’t listen to him. Do your best!” She cheered for them.
[A/N] held their Ares close, breathing steadily and when the automatic doors slide open, they sprint inside the room. The MAXBOT set a target on the Metal-bending radiant and starts shooting. They dodge the bullets, hiding behind the structures and starts shooting back. Everyone was watching intently at [A/N] who then uses their spare materials to create a shield to deflect ongoing shots while witnessing them reloading and using their powers to form more bullets out of bullet casings. Barely dodging the flames blasted from the bot and getting hit, slammed against the wall, leaving a crater. The new radiant agent groaned, starting to feel exhausted, but push through to keep fighting. They ran behind the bot, yanking off the extra firearms from its back.
“First hit, first hit on the bot.” Jett exclaimed as Yoru scoffed at her reaction. “It was only luck for them.”
Then silence fell through. It seems ammunition went out and the agent stood in front their ruthless opponent but this is where the fun begins.
[A/N] concentrates and pulls out the deformed bullets buried in the walls with one of their Radiant abilities and shoots back at the MAXBOT in all directions. One of the bullets pierces through the camera, damaging the piece, and it cannot identify the agent now.
Then they use their abilities again to gruesomely rips off the arms and backs up. Reforming the appendages to a set of gauntlets attached to their hands and gets into a fighting stance, and dash towards the armless bot and punches great impact to the torso, sending it flying across the room crashing into a wall. [A/N] rushes over starts beating it, throw punch after punch and tosses MAXBOT out in the open. The machine was unable to stand back up and [A/N] throws the gauntlets aside and walks over to it. They pick up the former killer machine, then start crushing the body with bare hands from their powers. With the last bit of energy, they upper-cut the head off, falling into their arms.
“[A/N] defeated that piece of rubbish! More than peng!” Phoenix was blown away by the event.
“GO [A/N]!” Jett cheered loudly as the doors opened back up. [A/N] came out with the head of the MAXBOT in their hands. “I defeated MAXBOT. It wasn’t too much, right?” They questioned innocently like they never just destroyed the whole robot. Then passes the head back to the couple.
Killjoy and Raze were left shocked of their precious creation being demolished like a soda can. All was left is the head in KJ’s hands.
KAY/O, if he were programmed to show signs of fear, has his screen presenting pixelated sweat drops and barely containing himself from shivering of the idea of having to face against Omega Earth’s [A/N]. “Shit.”
“くそ. That was hot.”
Yoru mumbled under his breath and attempting to not blush from how cool they fought. Yet Jett and Phoenix caught the Riftwalker’s words and started teasing him relentlessly of having eyes on [A/N].
“Ooooh~ Somebody has a crush on [A/N]~” The two duelists synced together at Yoru who glares back at them.
“I do not have a crush on them. I watched like everyone else and noticed their…form was off. I think it’s better that I should mentor [A/N].” He excuses himself to save face.
“Really? You were never interested of mentoring newbies and you always claimed working alone is better.” The Fire radiant stated to Yoru since he knew the lone wolf more. “Phoenix is right. You rarely interact with [A/N] since one day and now decided you’re their mentor?” Jett pointed out.
“It’s only to be sure if they can handle themselves around here.” Yoru finishes and walks away from the two.
“That’s an excuse to get closer to them!” Jett called out as Yoru disappears from their view.
“Getting closer to them. Doesn’t sound bad.” Feeling the same blush growing over his face just thinking about them, Yoru brushes off the sensation and exits into a rift.
Tumblr media
Ever since the day [A/N] annihilated the MAXBOT, Yoru uncharacteristically volunteered to be the Metal radiant’s mentor. He kept challenging them and denying he likes them while insisting it’s his responsibility to show off his mentee.
First, he challenged them with arm-wrestling. The Riftwalker almost won but barely lost his arm during the challenge since one of [A/N]’s radiant abilities is unnatural strength.
“Oh my god! I’m so sorry, Yoru!” They panicked and apologized profusely as Skye relocates his dislocated arm and heals it.
“Don’t be so hard on yourself, mate. Yoru will be fine and he knows it was an accident.” Skye reassures while casting his injury, which still hurts.
Next, he watched over [A/N] at the Gun Range practicing their aim, and decided to show them off by grabbing a Sheriff, then aims for bullseye. The bullet ricocheted after hitting the center and it headed straight towards [A/N]. They were shot back, cried in pain and Sage had to heal them. Yoru felt like an ass from that memory, but his crush forgave him and joked that they’re both even for hurting each other by accidents.
Lastly, the two radiants were on a mission together to prevent the VL agents from extracting Radianite. He made a bet with them of whoever kills off the most enemies owes them dinner, which earned him an eye roll from his mentee. Both fought together that their effects as a duo was so strong, neither of them won the bet. Though Yoru still took [A/N] out for ice cream for succeeding the mission.
As time continue on, their bond together would grow more, learning about one another and at times, when Yoru beats [A/N] in some form of competition, they compliment him on his abilities and effects. This makes him blush and the rhythm of his heart skip as an reaction while swelling with pride. Yoru realize that he can’t mask away his true feelings for long. He needs to tell [A/N].
Tumblr media
“Meet me at the rooftop at 6.” Yoru informed [A/N] when they walked passed each other in the hall of HQ.
Before they could even ask, the Riftwalker disappear through one of his rifts, leaving [A/N] dumbfounded for a moment. “Okay. This has to be important.”
Later that night, [A/N] entered on the rooftop where the sun was setting, coloring the sky with blended hues. They admired the scenery for a little before finding Yoru waiting at the ledge with his back facing at them. “Hey Yoru.” They approach and stood next to him, leaning against the edge of the roof. “So, is there something you need to tell me?” [A/N] faced him with curiosity, waiting for a response.
Then, Yoru finally turns to look at them and spoke. “[A/N], I like you.” He simply confess. “Since the day you defeated the machine, you made me like this. I can’t go on a day without having you in my mind, and …” He groaned, with his face in his palm hiding his blush and embarrassment. “Why are is it so hard to tell you these things?”
“Yoru…” [A/N] then start talking, lifting his face up from his palm and gently holding him. They look into his eyes and continue. “I feel the same way, too. To be honest, I thought you look cool since day one but was too scared to approach you and heard you rather work alone than with others. After the MAXBOT fight, you kept challenging me for training as a way for you to show off and tried to do better hoping to impress me. Which I find adorable.” They chuckled a little.
“Now, I see you as not just the person I want as a boyfriend. I want you as somebody who I can trust, trained with, be protected by, and just the one who can be beside me.” They let go of Yoru’s face and wrapped their arms around his neck, hugging him while still into his dark eyes. “I love you, Yoru.” They finished their confession.
The lone agent was surprised by the revelation of his crush to feel the same way and he wrapped his arms around [A/N]. Getting over the shock, he replied back, “Love you, too.”
The two hugged each other for a while as the sun finally set and the nightly sky appears. They stargazed for a bit, enjoying their presences together until deciding to head back inside of HQ.

Cold-blooded, ruthlessly efficient, and cruel in its methods. These are words that can be applied to an alligator, sizing up its target as it lurks beneath the surface and waits for the perfect opportunity to drag it into the depths. The same words can equally apply to Shuuji’s father, who never stops watching his every move, judging Shuuji for missteps he doesn’t even know he’s making as he tries to live up to unclear and impossible expectations.
Stressed, scared senseless, and operating entirely on adrenaline. These are words that can be applied to somebody attempting to escape from an alligator, desperate for a shred of hope. The same words can equally apply to a participant in a game of capture the flag, where one team’s lone survivor fights for their life in hopes that a singular small success will turn the tides.
Shuuji gets a weird text at the worst possible time. Ryo risks his neck for the sake of the team. There’s alligators.
yeah im not posting the entire fic under the readmore , im not prepared to spend another two hours of trial-and-error on formatting. anyway i have so much to say about digisurvive but im unfortunately not the type to talk about stuff unprompted until im much more confident n comfortable. instead i'll talk about the First Ficwriting Experience Since 2016
ive seen all four endings but i havent done what im calling my Victory Lap playthrough yet. what i mean by Victory Lap is that i got my guys at lvl 80+ and the only real purpose of going thru it all again is to see any early-game missed dialogue and take unnecessarily-meticulous character notes
im not about to claim to be a Blorbo Expert w a PhD or anything but i think ive got a pretty solid understanding of the bulk of the characters and can manage a pretty accurate portrayal . shuuji and ryo are definitely the easiest characters for me to write , and im anticipating that the same will be true for kaito. i cant say for certain tho since i havent explored his voice much yet but im more or less confident that i can do a good job
at first i was like oh god oh fuck i cant write aoi but i thought about it for 2 seconds and it turns out that uhhhhhhhh i was a lot like her when i was a teenager. the insecurities are exactly the same, it is so horrifyingly uncanny. so for me, saki is the one that i find the most difficult to characterize and i love that because it seems so deliberate. this girl DOES NOT want you to perceive her and is doing her best to ensure that you do not notice that she has anything to hide. if you are good at writing saki, i have a lot of respect for your tremendous power
but thankfully sakis presence in this is minimal so i dont have to worry about that just yet. what i AM worried about are my formatting choices. i think theres a lot of potential in fucking around with indentation, typeface, and text placement, so im taking a swing at trying to push it further than i have before. i think it can serve so well to imply when something is happening, what else is happening at the same time, and how it makes the characters feel without having to outright say so. i dont want it looking like a geronimo stilton book tho so i gotta learn to strike a balance lmao
SO much of the way i enjoy character portrayal comes from tone and nonverbal communication, especially really subtle stuff like eye movement and body language. i think it can be so challenging to write that stuff in a way that doesn't feel clunky or encumber the pacing. the thing im practicing right now is saying stuff without saying it, and also trying to improve my imagery & symbolic language. im having a lot of fun with it
mkay im actually late for work so i need to post this damn thing and move on my with my day. thanks for your time!!

Dreaming To Reality: Oneiromancy Chapter Thirty One - 13
Zeed let out an exhale of laughter, strained and weak. “Oh, heavens no. That place has no power over me. I simply… expended an enormous amount of energy, more than my body was ready for.”
More energy. The words echoed through Ryo’s mind as he stared at Zeed at a loss. Zeed was his partner, which meant that he was the one who was supposed to give his energy to the Digimon in front of him. Even after the revelations he had about their relationship and what Zeed had done for him, a part of him was resistant to the idea of giving his energy to the tyrant who murdered and damned so many of his friends… but the same tyrant saved him simply for the sake of love.
It was his death that caused this, Ryo realized. Zeed was the reason why he wasn’t dead, the reason why his head was attached to his neck now. He didn’t even realize his hand was on his throat before his fingers started digging into the soft skin. He didn’t find the scar with touch alone, but he could feel the numbness he experienced below where it was, that same detached feeling that haunted his nightmares.
Without Zeed, Ryo would be dead. He didn’t even do it to save himself - in fact it seemed that he suffered for it if that glitch was the result.
Zeed paused as he realized what he had done and shot Ryo a pointed stare. “It is not your fault, so don’t even consider the possibility that it was. My choices are my own.”
Silence settled in as Ryo tried to calm the hurricane of chaotic thoughts and emotions bouncing through his head as the stink of burnt flesh assaulted his nose. He knew what he was considering was insane, especially after everything Zeed had done. A part of him screamed and reminded him of how many who died, of the Chosen Children and their partners being brainwashed at that very moment… how the Digimon in front of him wanted to do it to him too, along with the rest of the Chosen.
Despite this… Ryo couldn’t let go of one simple truth - he owed Zeed his life.
How could he refuse to return the favor?
Words refused to come, though there was so much Ryo wanted to say. If he really was going to do this, he needed to somehow get through to Zeed, stop his power hungry partner from hurting others. If it was in exchange for his energy, then maybe, just maybe, Zeed could be talked down from his insane plans.
Maybe then this nightmare could finally end.
It took Ryo a long moment of deep breathing before he finally managed to speak in a low, hoarse voice. “Do you really want to be my partner?”

Nishikido Ryo Screen+plus vol.84 translation
Tumblr media
Q: What new hobbies have you taken up recently?
Ryo: My hobbies really haven’t changed much. I occasionally play golf with my friends, but I mostly just stay at home, just relaxing (laughs). I don’t know….but I realized how important it is to be healthy.
Q: Has anything happened?
Ryo: A lot has happened. I've become an Ossan (laughs). There are a lot of places that hurt now. What will become of me when I reach 40 or 50? (Laughs) So something had to be done. I do yoga at home watching YouTube videos. Well, just living a simple life. (Laughs)
Tumblr media
Q: Your first drama appearance in 4 years has been in the news, but can you tell us again how you frankly felt when you were offered the role?
Ryo: To put it simply, the fact that I was given an offer right now, & the fact I got to be offered a role regardless of where (i.e. agency) I belonged to, was what made me happiest.
Q: Did you decide to appear in the drama after reading the script?
Ryo: Yes, I did. I've had a few offers, but it was a matter of timing. This time it was the right time, so I accepted.
Tumblr media
Q: When I saw the live footage of you performing “Secret Agent Man at your RYO NISHIKIDO LIVE 2021 “SHABBY”, as someone who has known you for a long time, it made me happy. But was this a kind of fan service?
Ryo: I didn’t mean that as a fan service though. It was the first CD where my voice was recorded. For me it's a kind of retrospective, the first page of the album. So I thought, "Now, this is how I sound like", that's all.
Tumblr media
Q: Nishikido-san, what are your personal thoughts on what you hope will be conveyed from the NHK drama?
Ryo: To be honest, it’s not so much about the viewers, but rather if Kishida Nami, who is the author, her mother or her brother, who has Down’s syndrome, don’t have a bad feeling when they see the drama, then that’s fine with me. I’m not filming the drama for Kishida-san’s family but at the very least, I hope they can accept it. After all, I play the role of their late father. It would be nice to make them enjoy the father who lives on in their memories even more after watching it
Tumblr media
About "Kazokudakara Aishitan Janakute, Aishita no ga Kazokudatta”
Q: Could you tell us about any memorable events that happened during filming?
Ryo: The lead actress, Kawai Yumi, surprised me. Her lines were all in Kansaiben and she spoke them so naturally that I thought she was from Osaka, but I didn't realize she was purely from Tokyo (laughs). She speaks Kansai so well. It's really good. I asked her, "Do you play the piano?" and she said, "No." I asked, "Are you a good singer?" She replied, "I don't know if I'm good at it.” It's true that people don't say they can sing very well (laughs). I think it's great that she can remember the tones and speak very naturally.
Tumblr media
Q: let’s talk about ‘Let’s Get Divorced’. This is a film that Kudo Kankuro is working on the script for. It’s been a while since you’ve worked with Kudokan, what did you think when you heard about the drama?
Ryo: I was happy to be invited back even though I had left a big organisation, and I wondered if I had done a good enough job when I work with them before to make them think about inviting me back, without giving it a second thought. So I was of course happy to be invited back, and that is why I felt I had no choice but to respond to the invitation to the best of my ability.
Q: how did you feel after reading the script?
Ryo: It was very interesting. I heard that it was written by two people, Oishi Shizuka-san & Kudo-san, but I didn’t know who was writing which part. I mean, it was amazing that those two could write such a coherent script, and I thought it was also amazing that Isoyama-san (the producer) put it all together.
Tumblr media
About Yakudzukuri (T/N: It is the act of becoming and concentrating on the role played by the actor in a drama or movie through study & preparation)
Ryo: There are people who say, "I don't need Yakudzukuri ". I think that's cool. I think it is necessary to include the minimum necessary knowledge, & if there is a scene where you are riding a horse & you are supposed to be an expert rider, you have to be able to ride a horse in an absolutely convincing manner, but I don't know if I would call it Yakudzukuri or not. I think it's just a question of whether or not I'm able to respond to such requests. If I were doing a performance completely on my own, I might have to think about all sorts of things.

My explanations about the concepts and choices I made for this fic lol https://archiveofourown.org/works/44695096
So, first off: I originally had a different idea for partners, it being a rewrite of sorts of the doppelganger partnermon in the sewers segment; I do find what is revealed about the kids there really interesting but the samey experience and explanatory script frustrated me. That had me thinking about the state of the relationship between the kids and their partners. Ultimately, I had ran out of time to write the level of detail I wanted for each scenario, so I compressed the idea and picked a single focus character.
Why Saki? I believe it's just bc I had just been talking about her a lot lol My entry for red spider lily featured her and Ryo, so I wanted to show their relationship evolving through more snippets for other prompts through the week (and so I did in the few ones I did write lol). In the Red Spider Lily one, I wrote Saki as a fairly strong and grounding pressence to the spiraling Ryo, so for Partners, the situation is a bit reversed lol
Saki's main woe is naturally the baggage surrounding her chronic illness; and I had been babbling about the significance behind her evo line, particularly in how it evidences her avoidance coping. Vegiemon itself could be interpreted to show her own "care mistakes" towards her own person. And it is Survive, we have a whole arc about a certain kid's extremely negative perception of his partner reflecting his own violent self loathing. I know the Blossomon quip about her still not being cute is meant to be an adv referential gag, but it's too consistent for me not run with it. I had to link her worries about appareance to her worries about her own body, so I went for a visceral, unflattering description of Vegiemon and an emphasis in its physical weakness as a way to hopefully parallel Saki's own discomfort with her own body (my penchant for writing emotions with physicality came really in handy to transition into unpleasant awareness of her own body and its limits.)
Another fragment I have to highlight is the opening lines:
"Saki doesn't mean to sound ungrateful nor mean, but… Of All Things, Why did Floramon have to turn into Vegiemon?!"
I remember the opening paragraph went through a lot of edits because I had to find a way to nail her voice. For all her subtleties, Saki has a really strong voice, she really comes across as an opinionated free spirit, so I had to look for the kind of wording that could match her energy, so I edited my sentence structure to be more conversational and casual and a lil more judgemental. I highlight the opening lines bc I didn't feel like I had a good grasp on her voice until I felt I nailed those, revising the rest of the text felt easier once I had them as it was a matter of matching them.
"Why had she changed like that, when Floramon is so cute?! Saki had turned around in case anyone said anything, but no one did. Granted, the other partners that had evolved had scary looks, so the others probably didn't think much of it. Still, Saki couldn't help but to feel Vegiemon looked out of place…"
I also thought this passage was a good way to sort of include her worries about her chronic illness alienating socially. When writing her interactions with others, I kept in mind her worries about being rejected/abandoned as the source of her keenness/reservations to speak. Having her first consultation about the meaning of each partner-human pair be with Haru and Miyuki was useful to kickstart her feelings of social inadequacy that pop in all the interactions lol But I also liked the scene I pictured between them, with the hard to understand yet palpable grief and pain both of them exude. Relying on small motion cues for Miyuki was also good to showcase Saki as observant.
Minoru and Miu's segment had the theme of "coolness". It was really good to write a strong sense of comraderie between them due their common sensibilities, as well to show the sense of safety they get from their partners having a bit of a different nuance: Minoru taking on a more thoughtless attitude of "our partners are so cool they can solve anything" and Miu of "I'm glad to know my dear friend is safe in this form". Ofc, Vegiemon is neither cool nor safe, so it was pretty easy to interseped Saki's negative thoughts in between. I had to be careful to make it in stops and starts, since she's not the kind who really wants to dwells on her worries.
Ryo and Aoi were all about reliability. Kunemon evolving showcases Ryos newfound confidence that allows him to act and hope for the best, thus being a new budding pillar for the group. He's still defensive about him doing his best, ofc. Aoi values Labramon's aggression and power bc it allows her to be assertive and reliable, so Saki's description of Dobermon and Aoi's wording reflect that. This theme felt like a good place to bring to a head Saki's worries about being a burden/not being able to accomplish the tasks she wants since she's facing two ppl whose actions tangibly and intentionally support the whole group. And also, the aforementioned reversal of roles for Ryo and Saki.
Characters I excluded:
-Takuma's relationship with agumon is generally very stable, and his observant and soothing pressence would likely make me stop on an interaction with him to resolve the conflict. Since I wanted to keep the theme of avoidance and indirectness running, he'd just ruin it 😂
-Kaito: I didn't want to pair him with Miu, and Minoru, Ryo and Aoi I had already paired, so he got dumped with Takuma to get nixed 😂 Aside from that, the contrast of base form vs aggressive, edgy adult stage comes way stronger with Labramon than with Dracmon-Sangloupmon. Them filling similar niches meant Kaito really needed not to appear (plus, there's nothing surprising about his partner being aggressive).
-Shuuji: Cautionary tale about the worst behavior Saki could sink to. She wouldn't approach him lol
The ending: I had to explain where Floramon had been and bring a small sense of closure to Saki's partnership with her, so Floramons undying support in the form of foraging was cute and serviceable enough.
Other things: I had been researched emergency rations in Japan, so I took great pleasure including a line about canned bread tasting like cardboard.
This whole paragraph was just really amusing to me:
He shows her his phone screen, where there's a drawing of Goku riding a dinosaur. Saki lets out a small chuckle. It's so Minoru. Of course all there is to him is that Dyatrimon is cool. He’s such a kid.
Comparing Minoru to Goku, having her diss him for being simple minded, call him childish even tho he's older than her. All really really funny to me.
I really patted myself in the back for keeping the bug theme with a common idiom here lmfao
Ah, typical Ryo, always jumping on the defensive. Better not to swing at the wasp nest.
Writing Aoi be salty and admonish Ryo was also very funny to me. This is why she gets teased over being a nag 😂
Overall, I was very proud about being able to steer Saki's observations back to the theme of evos and her anxieties.

Tojoctober Day 28 - Inferno
(You can take all you want, but not who I am)
Alt title is from “The Darker the Weather//The Better the Man” by MISSIO
Ryo Aoki confronts his Tojo contact one last time. His goal: get them to sell out the Tojo.
(Like A Dragon spoilers, mainly about Aoki)
—------------------------------
The streets of Kamurocho are loud as always, as I discreetly walk into alleyway after alleyway. The local thugs take one look at me and think twice, as I'm never bothered on these strolls, unlike many other pedestrians I see. Even through my disguise, people recognize I walk with power.
That's what happens when you're the governor of Tokyo.
I round the corner onto Pink Alley, and spot a very familiar man, smoking a cigarette and leaning against the alley wall.
One of the few men left in this city that makes my stomach drop.
But these are the obstacles I have to overcome in order to achieve complete control.
I run a hand through my hair, adjust my glasses, and step slightly louder than usual, drawing the attention of my father.
"Governor." He bows, and the pit in my stomach lessens slightly. He puts his cigarette out on one of the community ashtrays.
"Arakawa-san." I bow in return. "This is your choice of establishment?"
"It's out of the way, perfect for an incognito governor and a yakuza patriarch."
"Very well."
My father opens the door to the establishment, and holds it open. As I walk through, I grip the door and push it slightly more open, giving him a bit of a glare as I pass.
I focus my attention on the interior of the restaurant proper, and look around. I feel my father step up to my side.
"Just pick a booth. I'll worry about the food." He walks past me and up to the counter. He gives what I assume is a friendly wave to the chef, who enthusiastically greets him.
I slide into a booth that's in the corner, away from all of the other patrons. With a quick glance, it's obvious that no one is paying me any mind, let alone recognizing me.
Pays not to wear a suit sometimes.
My father takes the seat across from me after a few seconds, throwing another smile my way.
“I remembered your ramen order. Extra broth and noodles, right?"
“That wasn’t necessary," I bite back. I've always hated being doted on.
Too bad that's the love language of half the damn country.
The ramen arrives a minute later, the steam from the broth fogging up my glasses in a snap. I take them off, wiping them absent-mindedly on my sweater.
“How are you handling everything with AD-9?" Arawaka asks, putting something in his mouth after finishing his sentence, I can't tell exactly what.
I put my glasses on my face, the details of the world coming back into view.
“That's not my direct jurisdiction," I remind him, "but from the looks of everything, it's being handled smoothly. We're already deep in the process of choosing another Vice Minister of Health."
I stab a piece of pork with a chopstick. “But enough of idle chit-chat. You know why I asked for you, father." I lower my voice, as to not alert the restaurant to my dead identity.
Arakawa sighs, putting noodles into his mouth, chewing and swallowing before responding.
“Masato… how confident are you in your plan?" he asks. I scoff at his inquiry.
“Immensely. It's going to change Kamurocho, no, Tokyo, for the better. The people will be safer, and have me to thank for it.” I put the piece of pork I stabbed into my mouth, along with some noodles. At least the food is good.
“You’re confident enough that you think you’ll wipe us all out? People who have cared for you since you were a child?”
“Why does that matter? You’re living in the gray anyway. I’d much rather you finally pick a side to be on.” I narrow my eyebrows at him, and eat some more of my ramen when he doesn’t respond immediately.
“What about Ichiban?” I hear my father ask.
I swallow the last of my noodles. “He isn’t here.” I retort. Why’s he bringing up that guy?
I see Arakawa’s eyes soften as he finishes drinking his broth, “Yes, he’s not. But are you going to deny him a home once he’s released? After everything he’s done for you?”
“Maybe he can come work for me once he gets out,” I smirk, placing my empty ramen bowl back onto the table. Wouldn’t be a bad idea to not turn away a man of his talent, if he hasn’t wasted away in jail.
“This isn’t a healthy way to pursue power, Masato!” his voice rising slightly at my name.
“Shut up.” I growl. He’s clearly getting senile in his old age.
I watch my father put his face in his hands and sigh deeply.
“As much as I wanted this to be some family bonding time, it seems I was mistaken.”
He sits up, and puts on a smile. Only I can see that it doesn’t reach his eyes.
“I’ll think about your offer, Aoki-san. Expect a word from my men shortly.”
Arakawa puts some money on the table to pay for the meal, and stands up, passing by my seat. I feel him whisper into my ear, and I have to strain slightly to hear what he says.
“You are about to start an inferno, son. Take care to not get burned.”
I hear his footsteps recede, and I chuckle to myself before standing up, placing money of my own onto the table. Does he know who he's talking to? I'm not a child anymore. I'm a leader of the damn country.
If I’m really starting an inferno, then so be it.
At least I'm the one holding the lighter.

Really made the Survive relationship poll to see how people feel about Takuma there, because - of course you can point him in certain directions due to your personal preferences, but he DOES have certain characteristics outside of your choices. (No spoilers of course!)
I do love the core with him, Minoru and Aoi - even if it changes through the course of the game, I do love how these three are framed together at the beginning, with Aoi HAVING to be the mom to keep them in check, but Takuma does encourage and support her like she does in return, which, when successful, is very endearing. And Takuma and Minoru are such loyal bros, they can be idiotic chaos twins, but in such a "Bro, I love you" kinda way.
Him being a voice of reason that tries to help the siblings is kind of awkward, but I cannot blame him on that. He tries so hard to keep Kaito calm and encourage Miu to be her own person - you can tell he feels helpless, but the little steps are very impactful. Especially when they both display their more honest, softer sides towards him.
His bond with Saki - is difficult, because he never knows if she wants him to be honest or if she just wants him to agree, while she keeps teasing. I know her background by now, but it's still kinda difficult.
I adore his mentor/mentee relationship with the Professor and his bond with Miyuki after a certain point is just incredibly wholesome to me.
(Won't be commenting on Ryo, Shuuji and Haru as of now.)
Btw, I'm on chapter 9 in my first playthrough (yes, I am slow). And my current sympathy ranks the characters like this:
Miu
Aoi
Minoru
Kaito
Saki
Ryo
Shuuji

Merry Digi-mas, @smackins ! I was your Digimon Secret Santa!
(This is my writing blog, but my main is @animegenork - I know it's confusing)
I had to think about this one quite a bit, as I mostly dabble in writing rather than art, and what can I do with Digimon lines and writing? ;w; Not much...
But! I took a peeksie around your blog and saw your icon was Kunemon (excellent choice), and your letter said you also love Tentomon! An idea took shape, and the result was this little crossover fic! I hope you like it, and I hope you have a very merry holiday season!
Thank you to @digisecretsanta and @sluggybasson107 for the excellent hosting of this event! 💕
So Much for Rescue
Word Count: 1508 | Universe: Survive x Adventure [Tri] Crossover | Characters: Ryo Tominaga, Kunemon, Koushiro Izumi, Tentomon | Dedicated to smackins
Ryo pressed the heels of his hands into his eyes for the fiftieth time that day. The others had suggested that he go outside and take a breather, maybe clear his head a little. It wasn’t working in the slightest. Not only had Kunemon followed him outside—the thing was like a ninja! He could barely hear him move!—but his head was still swirling with all the thoughts that kept bombarding the sides of his skull like bullets. Ha! Bullets! That was the last thing he needed to be worrying about right now!
Beside him, Kunemon sat quietly, his two front legs folded quietly in front of him. Resting his cheek on his right hand, Ryo peered down at him, narrowing his eyes. He supposed he was getting used to the weird creature, but it was hard. What did “Kew” even mean? How did the other monsters even understand any of that? He could barely wrap his head around where they were, much less try and figure out why this monster who spoke in chirps was following him around all the time. “Are you ever gonna be able to talk?”
Kunemon turned his head toward Ryo, his head tilting the slightest bit. In a way, that was fair—Ryo couldn’t remember if he’d interacted directly with Kunemon besides the screaming in the first few minutes. Since then, he’d only ever tried talking to the other kids… or to himself. After a few seconds, supposedly of making sure Ryo had indeed been speaking to him, Kunemon’s beak parted, and he let out a simple “Kewkew!” in response.
“Wish I had a translator around for this,” Ryo muttered, sighing. Besides the fact that he was probably going to get jumped at any moment, going off alone had been a terrible idea. Especially with this horrible communication problem between him and Kunemon.
“Guess we should go back,” he surmised, pushing himself to his feet and dusting himself off. Kunemon appeared to raise himself up on his legs, but it was hard to tell, considering he was so close to the ground compared to Ryo himself.
As they turned toward the school building, there was a popping noise behind him. Ryo nearly leaped six feet in the air. He whipped around so fast he nearly fell over. Kunemon made a chittering sound and leaped in front of him, not that his presence reassured Ryo at all. Where was Agumon and Takuma when he needed them?
A ball of blue light appeared out of nowhere, floating menacingly in front of them. It gradually widened, and Ryo took a nervous step back. In a few seconds, the blue sphere was more of a mirror-like shape, round and glowing. Kunemon scuttled near it, and if Ryo didn’t know any better, he’d say the little guy was sniffing the… whatever it was. Portal? It looked like a portal. But why would there be a portal here?
Did it lead back home?
There was a strange buzzing noise, and a large red insect came flying out of the portal. Ryo yelled and ducked down, using his arms to cover his head. Kunemon made a screeching noise, and a voice said, “Whoa! Sorry! I didn’t know there was anyone here.”
Looking up, Ryo saw the red insect thing land on the ground. Upon closer inspection, it seemed more like a robot bug than a full-fledged insect like Kunemon. Was this another strange creature? “Wh-what are you?”
“I’m Tentomon. And this is—Koushiro-han! Hurry up!”
“You’re the one who went flying through before I could check that the portal was stable.” Another voice sounded from the other side of the portal, a distinctly human voice. And Ryo was right, because out of the portal stepped a boy about his age, maybe a year or two older, with dark red hair and dark eyes. The boy was wearing his summer school uniform, a white collared shirt and a navy-blue tie paired with navy blue slacks and green shoes. He wasn’t familiar, though, which meant he probably hadn’t been on the camping trip. So much for a rescue operation.
“Oh, a person. Tentomon, are you sure we calibrated the portal correctly?” The boy opened a laptop computer he’d been holding under his arm, a frown crossing his face once he (assumedly) realized he had no connection. “That’s odd. If this was the Digital World, I would be able to connect.”
“Maybe this isn’t the Digital World, Koushiro-han!” Tentomon buzzed, gesturing his claws (were they claws?) at Kunemon and Ryo. “At least, I haven’t heard of more humans showing up there.”
“What the hell is the Digital World?” Ryo blurted, glancing back and forth between the two strangers. “Does it have anything to do with what’s going on around here?”
“I’m afraid not.” Koushiro closed his laptop and gave Ryo a guilty smile. “I think I accidentally opened a portal into a completely separate dimension from the one I intended. Well, I always suspected that was possible, what with the various gates, but to think I ended up in a totally different universe is…” He scratched the back of his head. “I wish I knew how I did it.”
Kunemon turned to Ryo, who hung his head in disappointment. “So definitely not a rescue party.”
“Rescue party?” Something flashed across Koushiro’s expression, and it was enough that Tentomon peered up at him. “Why are you waiting for a rescue party?”
Ryo gestured helplessly toward the school building. “The others and I are stuck here in these woods with these weird monsters, and we keep getting attacked every five seconds by something! Just last night we had to deal with a huge spider that nearly ate one of us!” Dokugumon’s face flashed in his mind, and he covered his eyes with a hand. “This place sucks!”
Above him, he heard Koushiro chuckle. “Are you laughing at me?”
“No, no.” Koushiro hid his smile behind his hand. “It’s just… This all sounds remarkably familiar. I went through something similar, you see, when I was in elementary school. About six years ago now.”
Kunemon let out another of his chirps, though this one sounded surprised and confused. Exactly how Ryo was feeling. Glancing up at Koushiro, who politely sat across from him, he murmured, “You’ve been stuck like this, too?”
“I have. And we were all much younger than you.” Koushiro lips turned up in a weak smile before he looked at Tentomon, placing his hand gently on the head of the robo-insect (Ryo still wasn’t sure which he was). “But we had our partners, and they kept us safe. They still keep us safe, even years later.”
Ryo looked at Kunemon. “Partners, huh.” He tentatively reached his hand out and placed it on Kunemon’s head, eliciting a delighted “Kew!” from the creature. The beginnings of a smile caused Ryo’s face to twitch at that. This wasn’t so bad. “I wonder if you’d be able to keep me safe, Kunemon. Not that I can understand you.”
“Tentomon, do you know what Kunemon is saying?” Koushiro turned to his partner creature, who began buzzing in thought.
“Sort of. He said, ‘Oh!’ in a surprised way. I think he’s not used to physical affection. But he seems to like it.”
For the first time since he’d gotten into this mess, Ryo let out a little chuckle of his own. “After all I’ve put him through, he deserves it.” His eyebrows furrowed, and he looked at Koushiro once more. “Do you think we’ll be able to make it out of this?”
“That’s up to you.” Koushiro placed his hand over his heart. “It’s up to you and the others to decide whether you’re going to make it out of this. You can’t just sit around waiting for it to happen.”
Ryo nodded. “That makes sense.” He looked at Kunemon and smiled. “Think we’re going to make it out of this, Kunemon?”
“Kew!”
“He says, ‘Let’s do it!’” Tentomon translated.
Koushiro pushed himself to his feet, and Ryo scrambled to do the same. “I should get back. I need to recalibrate the portal.” He held out his hand. “I wish you luck.”
Ryo took Koushiro’s hand and shook it. “Thanks. Good luck with your, ah, portal.”
“Thanks.” Koushiro turned toward his portal, and Tentomon saluted before flying through. “Oh, and by the way.” The boy turned back. “What was your name?”
“Ryo. Ryo Tominaga. Nice to meet you.”
“See you around, Ryo.” Koushiro stepped through the portal, and faster than it had appeared, it shrank in on itself until it was completely gone.
“Let’s head back, Kunemon.” Ryo slipped his hands into his pockets and smiled down at the little creature. Koushiro was right—working together was probably better than screaming and being afraid all the time. Now to put that into practice.
Scuttling along after him, Kunemon did a little hop, his beak turned up in what Ryo could only assume was a smile. “Kew kew!”
Ryo decided he liked the sound of that, whatever it meant.

Im. Trying to do a cover of vulgar by utsu p and im doing it with vances voice(synth v ryo) hehehe uhm but im not sure how im gonna be able to replicate the shouting? I have some ideas but idk if they will work :0 synth v is not my first choice vsynth only bc its /too/ human, and its a lot harder to get non human sounds out of it imo.
i like vocaloid(i use vocaloid 6) bc it can be v robotic, has lots of variety in vocals(and vocal effects yay), has miku, and the ui is v v kino *chefs kiss* howeverrrr synth v /is/ my second choice haha, like if i have a specific style vocal in mind(for example: i want a soft and mature feminine voice, i choose avanna) or a gender, bc i dont have any masculine vocaloids, but ive got a buncha masculine synth v voicebanks haha
Now im gonna blabber abt vocal synths bc im v autistic and v posic for them lolll
I also have voisona/cevio and ACEstudio but only bc voisona has chis-a's jpn voicebank, and ACEstudio has luo tianyi ai lmao but i rarely use chis-a(she can read english but she has an accent and the ai tuning doesnt account for english so she is so hard to make sound good, but her japanese is fine imo, other than i dont generally like ai tuning) and ive never used luo tianyi >< i want to but ive literally never used ACEstudio either lol(now i wonder if utaformatix supports their file format? I could do a luo cover of one of my songs haha)
Utau is my nemesis, before you ask... afaik and as far as i have experienced, to use an english vb u gotta type in the phonemes, and im so so bad at remembering all of every programs phoneme symbols bc they are all different... thankfully synth v has v beginner friendly phonemes, for example: why= w ay, the=dh ax, it=ih t
Obvi its still a lot to get used to, but at least its not like vocaloid lmaooo >< i think that synth v uses arpabet phoneme symbols, but idk the name of vocaloids phoneme symbols but im also not that educated so!
Tuning is also easier and more fun in vocaloid, like cutting the notes and spreading them around in v6 yields much better results than it does in synth v, and i use a lot of note bending rather than pitch line bending bc to me its more controlled and not as loosey goosey im-just-guessing as pitch line bending >< at least for my own abilities, i know there are many very talented and famous (and indie) vsynth tuners who pitch line bend and it literally sounds like a human o.o its insane but im not there yet personally haha
Okay as i write this im deciding to work on a self cover in vocaloid bc omggggg oughhhh im using avanna oouugghh i love avanna sm her voice so prety ... hehe

So, day 1 with Digimon Survive
It's a fun experience. It's not quite what I'm used to from the franchise or from games in general, but it is fun and new yet... nostalgic somehow. I mean aside from Agumon and the rest of the typecast characters. There's something about the game itself that feels new but also reminds me of something long forgotten. Probably just that I've been waiting 4 damn years for it.
But anyway, so far the whole "70% VN 30% TRPG" thing isn't too inaccurate? But I'd say it's more 60/40. There's definitely room for battles when you're given the chance, but the beginning is pretty long. The Tutorial for battle is quick but the Tutorial for exploration and dialog choices is about a couple of hours long
As far as story, it's both typical and not typical for Digimon at all. 8 kids at a summer camp get trapped in another world, including resident goggle head, a brother and his younger sibling, the responsible one, etc- but this has a supernatural, vaguely religious and terrifying twist to it. Literally in the tutorial you see these devs aren't playing around with one of the most horrifying ways for a character to die- and again, this is the tutorial, maybe 10 minutes in.
The story and Characters are unsurprisingly going to carry the game for the most part. I mentioned that they're typecast pretty similarly to the Adventure cast, but they're not quite the same. Takuma is a lot more calm and chill than Tai, and his personality is more liquid, depending on choices. I think my favorite of the bunch is Minoru, who is somewhat a mix of Mimi, Sora, and Tai at the same time and is brimming with personality and meme potential. The best Digimon though is Aoi's partner, Labramon, who exhibits all of the expected traits of a doggo that loves you after just meeting you and having severe separation anxiety. I would like to push Ryo into a mud puddle though- he's a realistic character, mind you, but he's tsundere and a coward at the same time, which just makes him annoying.
There's choices to be made, but I'm not quite sure how they affect the story just yet. But they pop up depending on how much time you spend with a character, at points in the story to decide whether you fight or run, etc.
Because my friend keeps asking about monster taming elements in it compared to Cyber Sleuth- I would strongly advise to curb your expectations. For one, there's only 117 monsters in the game vs close to 400 in CS and HM. That, and recruiting is more like an SMT game, but a bit easier imo so far. I haven't gotten too deep yet, but I believe the evolution tree is also a lot more tailored to specific monsters and smaller.
As for the Visual Novel experience, it's not too hard to get into and there's actual gameplay elements too. Also there's a lot of voice acting (no dub) and the characters are actually animated in some places, so it's a bit like playing an anime.
Overall with first impressions, I'm very impressed. I was a little worried I wouldn't be into this, but it's not hard to pick up at all. But it is a lot of reading- I'm surprised that I'm actually okay with it sense I usually hate reading (I think the enlarged letters help a bunch), but if you're one of those people that complained about too much text in the Story games, you're gonna have a bad time. Like a REALLY bad one.
As far as my own gripes, I wish BAMCO would fire their localizers and get a new one, because every fucking game from them has sloppy typos or errors that would easily be fixed if they spent a little more time scanning for errors, and Survive is no exception- granted its not a ton so far, but it really takes me out of it when I have to stop and decipher what was meant. I can't remember an exact instance, but one was something like "He is ain't going there," but more complicated and harder for me with a reading disability to decipher.
Another gripe is that the game has long load times- which I thought would be fixed by swapping to a Switch cartridge instead of a PS4 disc, but nope. It's not Sonic 06 levels long, but still pretty irritating.
Then there's a lack of polish to controls. They work fine, but you'll definitely feel that using the stick in combat to set directions could be better.
But other than this, there's a lot, and I mean a LOT of soul here. They're taking a very different approach here compared to usual, but it's fun and I'd ask anyone on the fence to give it it's fair chance. In fact, if you would as a personal favor, consider at the least adding it to your wishlists so BAMCO will see the interest the west has in their games. Their marketing has been atrocious and they don't treat the series with the same respect they do towards their other games, so if more interest is generated, they'll follow the money!
Please give it a shot! I'm going to hold off on rating it because I'm only in part 1, but it's fun so far.

Alright so I finished the game in under 40 hours, over a few days, and while I was starting to get a bit disappointed with a few things about how much I actually had an affect on the game (because I thought I was doing well with Ryo, but then I got him killed)
Tumblr media
and this appearing at the end of the credits at least confirms that there WAS something I could've done differently and that to an extent my choices and actions did matter, which I was starting to feel like it didn't considering how far into the game things were progressing
I suppose just says a lot about how much work went into it, even despite all the text/grammatical errors
I also saw a lot of voices in the credits that just had no way of actually showing up yet, so I definitely missed out on the best ending, or at least in getting certain mons, so that bodes well for getting a few more hours under my belt

( wip meme ask ) could i please ask about 'aragorn : tip of the lance' ?
Thanks for the ask! <3
I know the prompt said brief but this ain't gonna be brief. This is one that I'm really passionate about. xD
Ok. So. Aragon: Tip of the Lance is a D&D campaign that I'm playing in. My character is Anduin Thurarsh, who is in my OC Masterlist pinned to my page.
We've had 25 sessions so far and honestly, other than the game I DM, it is my favorite campaign to play in. Bar none so far.
Its a fantasy setting with 5 nations and one area where we have no clue what's going on. The 5 nations are The Castiya Archipelago, The Imperium Ryos, Carthago, Greika, and The Holy Kingdom of Phairon. Castiya is based off of Spain, Imperium is based off of the Roman Empire, Carthago is based off of northern Africa, Greika is based off of Greece, and Phairon is based off of Egypt. And the one place we have no clue what is going on is call The Blacklands.
We are playing as natives to The Castiya Archipelago, specifically being in Lancer Academy which is the nation's best military school. We're in Class Omega, basically the elites of the military or elites in training. All chosen for different reasons. And our party is very diverse too. (I will be referencing the Five Man Band tropes here xD)
We have Anduin, my character, as a Male Half Orc Artillerist Artificer who is the Leader of the party. Another name for Artificers here are Technomancers. He was chosen because he defended a town single handedly from bandits. Though he has "skeletons in the closet" cause he's keeping secrets from the rest. Basically he's the eldest son of a noble family of the nation and made choices that his family didn't agree with and abused the fuck out of him because of it. Only reason he's hiding it is cause he wants people to know him for him and not his family. His upcoming first character arc will be fun xD
We then have Elirthan, my boyfriend's character, as a Male Elf Apollo Labrys Knight (homebrew class) who is the Lancer of the group. He was picked because he defended a farming village from wargs by himself. We've learned more about his past cause we've had his first character arc. Basically Elirthan is trans. He used to be the daughter of a noble family of the nation and didn't want to continue to be a tool for their politics so a friend helped her become him with magic and surgery and helped him run away. That friend was captured and executed by his family and we were sent to help find "her". We found a book in a secret room with a hatch and Elirthan was revealed to be "her" so we then did a plan that basically gave a big middle finger to his folks. It was hilarious. Elirthan is also a character that Anduin has a crush on.
Next up we have Gastron, a Male Goliath Gula Sinwrought (another homebrew class) who is the Heart of the party. He was noticed because he defended the tavern where he was working by himself. He is the party's cook and really good too. We're getting pampered cause we're at a military school and we have someone who can cook regardless of what they have on hand xD We don't have his backstory yet cause he also have secrets. But he's a really good friend. Always there for the rest. That's why he's the Heart.
Fourth up we have Ordekko, a Male Deep Gnome Divine Soul Sorcerer eventually multiclassed with Bard who is the Smart Guy of the party. He was noticed when he saved a prison guard with magic powers he didn't have before. He's very skittish and shy but he's growing out of it. I honestly thought Anduin would've been the Smart Guy but no xD We've been through his first character arc too. He was in a gang when he was young and took the fall and was in a prison when one of the Six Gods brought an earthquake there and it was destroyed. This is where he was noticed when he saved a guard with magic he didn't have. So he got visions and a voice spoke thru him that was like "find this book in a library under ruins" So we went to the underground where the ruins are and Ordekko cast invisibility on himself and ran from the group with Anduin's homunculus (metal owl named Cai) on his shoulder. Elirthan wanted to go back to Lancer but everyone else was like "Nah. We going after him and giving him a talking to". So the homunculus came back and guided us there and we found the book in an ancient library that no one knew about so we got the find of the century. Also found out the source of his powers is from a God called The Hollow who we thought was only legend. Ordekko then discovered he can undo acts of the Gods with the book. So we know have a mission to eventually take down the gods cause they are pieces of shit but research and gathering strength and all.
Anyways, moving onto number five! We have Justinian, played by the DM (whose my best friend), a Male Champion Fighter who is the party's Big Guy. He didn't necessarily get noticed, it was political things. I'll go into that in a bit. Hits really fucking hard as we found out in combat and sparring. He's from the Imperium and the Heir to House Cerinthus one of the Six Big Houses. He got into Class Omega because of political reasons that we don't know which now Anduin is thinking its for stronger times because a war might be happening. But Justinian is a really good person. We haven't had his first character arc yet but we getting there. Anduin also has a crush on him too.
Number six! We have Angelo, who joined late, a Human Mastermind Rogue who is the party's Sixth Ranger. He'll probably fit into another slot once we've had more sessions with him. We don't know how he was noticed just that he's there and it works well for use cause we didn't really have a rogue. We're waiting on his first character arc as well. Anduin is on the fence with him cause they literally just met while he's known the others more.
We used to have another member but they left so not mentioning them.
Ok. So that's our party xD
We've been taking it really slow and actually going to classes and all, getting to know those in the party to be like "Yeah, they're friends" without too much backstory till now cause C-C-C-CHARACTER ARCS! We meld really well and if you've noticed, all of the party members are boys. And all of us are on the LGBTQIA+ spectrum. Some are Bi, some are Gay (Anduin).
We're now getting to like "main story" arcs too. Justinian is captured and we just fought Shapeshifters last night that were trying to take out the King and military leaders of Castiya and we fucking won. We're rescuing Justinian next session.
There's also SO MUCH LORE AND SO MANY NPCS! I have a google folder that's called Anduin's Notebook, cause Anduin is the notetaker of the group like myself but its after session cause I can't do it during, and that's where all the lore is put and info for NPCs, nations, Gods, party members, gadget ideas and other things. I obviously have my favorites and all but yeah xD
I have so much on them. A lot of text RP too with the DM with NPCs and Justinian.
I'm gonna leave it there for now. But if you got any more questions about Anduin, the lore of the world, or the NPCs, send me an ask and I can respond. I might just do it anyways xD
