The personas you have equipped should impact the dialogue choices you have

(Note: I have experience with p5, and somewhat p4, none of the others)

But I just think it would be neat if personas actually.... had an impact on social links, on the protagonist's personality. The name of the series is Persona, and while they are clearly a centrally important part of the games, it feels like there's a divide that keeps them relegated mostly to gameplay mechanic

They are described as facets of the self, as aspects of personality given form. So if the protagonist has certain persona, it would make sense for them to alter the dialogue options

Mostly I see this being feasible with social links. The persona of the matching arcana unlocks a bonus dialogue option that can give the high +++ points for ranking those up.

It shows that aspect of the self resonating with the person you're talking with more, by providing an answer you wouldn't otherwise give, because that's not a part of you at the time.

It would add DEPTH!!

I HAVE ACTUALLY BRAINSTORMED ABOUT THIS A FEW TIMES .. . but if we are going down the route that s/o and joker will save akechi/prevent his fate, i honestly like the idea that s/o's persona would be sigyn. i don't know if this is a popular headcanon, but i have read a few fics that has this idea.

in norse mythology, sigyn is loki's wife. loki was found guilty for the murder of the beloved god balder, and as punishment skadi sent him away to a cave while bound to some stone slabs. she also put a poisonous snake above loki's head, which will drip venom and hurt him when it falls on his face. sigyn, being a faithful wife, holds a bowl over loki's head to prevent him from being hurt.

not to be that person but i genuinely believe akechi didn't die T_T because what was the point of the final scene of royal ending if he did!!!!!!!!!! if you guys want my thoughts on this feel free to send an ask <3

but i like the idea that akechi and s/o somehow mirror eachother's thief getup, and this especially makes sense if they have a lot of history with each other. (maybe s/o was a childhood friend, or akechi's first ever friend at work).

Thanks to you, I've finally purchased p5r to play. Which, considering I've never played any of the persona games before (despite being a rabid consumer of fics, I am a disliker of time management rpgs) so I can properly appreciate all the little details.

Highlights include yelling "That's my boyfriend/girlfriend!" whenever Goro and Sumi show up on the screen.

Unfortunately my BFF who is in charge of reading the guide so I can optimize would not let me name myself Shido Masayoshi when confessing to crimes. 😔 And I cry every time I don't have enough Guts to tell 'Igor' to fuck off.

Additionally, I love Coffee Dad with all my heart, but holy _fuck_ is he a dick to Akiren to start. Ouch bro. No wonder this poor protagonist suffers.

maybe tonight i’ll start doing it— cause theres something ive always thought was lacking in the original cutscene, like sure theres the guy who slams his head into the table, but other than that i think it was purposely done since the devs maybe couldnt fit in a heavier scene

cause ive said to myself that its kind of odd that they would make Akiren’s interrogation as harsh as it is but when it came to Zenkichi, its (from what i can remember) just simple and also fan service-y personally cause- sure im happy that i get a Sae appearance but i didnt get to see her model lmao, plus the screen moving to show the scene is being told in her pov just honestly threw me off

the story idea i had so kindly at this hour when i should be busy was from seeing this post and this post from two of my beloved blogs, @smolstarthief and @its-coda respectively in my sort of like- story idea document i have whenever i see a post or few that maybe inspire me to make another story

What's not to like!!! Herbo! :D Lovable dumbass! :D Mookie defender, just like me ^^ Kai's beloved sister! She's funny and friend-shaped and angsty and traumatized but she's being so brave about it :') And she's not afraid for fight for what she believes in! I like how I added Kai to feel better about rejecting Takuto's reality and then you told me about Chey and tipped the scales back in Mookie's favor :| Now if I were to made the same choice again I'd know that the fate of these two kids is resting in my hands and no matter which reality I choose one of them is gonna inevitably end up losing and aaaaaaaaaa *shakes you*

So, what do you do? Do you subject Kai to identity death, in exchange for the happiness of millions of people? Or do you subject Chey to literal death, in exchange for free will? Dammit, Takuto, pls look what you're doing to your children, you're tearing your family apart 😭😭😭

Persona 5 protag for the bingo?

Akiren truly is the most tragic fucking character. Imagine having all this style, all this potential to be as complex and as interesting as Tatsuya Suou My Beloved, all this Bisexuality, fucking wasted on dipshit writers deadset on having an especially garbage blank slate cishet self-insert with no actual personality of his own. (And this was the intent actually STATED OPENLY by the staff because god forbid we be able to pretend otherwise in this fucked society.)

It's so sad. And having the protag be a blank slate self-insert for a game with a plot like P5's is DOA to begin with!

Any personality or depth you can glean from Akiren is more often than not by accident if not actively in SPITE of the writing choices, but damn if this nasty crime boy doesn't make for a fascinating thought experiment.

Not to be a Morgana analyzer on main, but I genuenly feel people misunderstand his character a lot - especially during his little runaway arc. I have my own peeves about this arc, it could’ve been written better and I get why people don’t like it, but it feels unfair to blame it all on Morgana.

Yes, Morgana is absolutely not perfect, he’s arrogant and he rags on Ryuji a ridiculous amount - but people seem forget Ryuji rags on him right back. They both start shit with each other and bicker, it’s on both of them. They’re both assholes to each other, especially in vanilla and royal (also a reason I like strikers a lot more character wise, their dynamic was wayy nicer). They’re also both two of my top favorite characters, so I wanna preface I’m not here to put all blame on only one of them or say one is more right than the other.

Ever since first meeting Akiren and Ryuji, Morgana’s been extremely hung up on being useful and proving himself. He’s the veteran after all, he was the one who knew everything when they first started. Not to mention we always see his underlying insecurity about his past and wether or not he’s really human. However everytime someone else joins they can do things he can, and they’re learning things faster and easier - so he puts himself on a high horse because he wants to be useful and dependable, so he won’t be discarded (which is also probably part of the reason he does keep butting heads with Ryuji, but also I think he most often does it because he’s a bastard. Their bickering does not feel like something that’s always from a malicious place). Especially considering they’re not getting closer to finding out the truth about him no matter how far they get, he feels he needs another reason to stay with them - because if not the deal he made with Akiren at the start will be an empty one, and that’s not fair to him.

Then, of course, Futaba (my beloved) joins and can literally do everything he can do, but better, and she takes the role of navigator. Morgana’s insecurities really start coming to light after that. He’s more and more unsure of his true identity and worries about his usefulness to his team, but he’s too stubborn and prideful to talk about it. And Ryuji starts poking at him like he usually does, that’s how their dynamic is! But this time it’s hitting too close to home because right now being useless is the thing Morgana’s the most scared off, so he gets angry. All of this is building up so he gets distant and irritable, until the last drop hits and he lashes out. The others obv don’t know why, and Ryuji understandably snaps back in defense. Morgana runs off and he is now set on proving himself, which is also why he keeps putting himself on a high horse and acts all high and mighty - that’s the only way he knows.

A friend of mine also pointed out Morgana displays really intense symptomps simillar to RSD, and as Ryuji is very adhd coded it’s likely they were both setting each other off which made it worse. And, to quote my friend: It’s really easy to get stuck on your own feelings when that happens. I love Ryuji so much you guys, and I also think it’s unfair he gets blamed for a TON of things, but man. When they first went to apologize. Puts head in hands. In that moment he did do bad GDJDHJSH. But also I get it because Plot.

The only part I do kinda like is the end, especially seeing both Morgana and Ryuji be nice to each other cause damnit. They CARE about each other deep down. And it’s always nice seeing a character finally be honest abt their feelings.

Again I’m not trying to be like Oh actually Morgana did nothing wrong in this situation - he did do wrong, even if it came from a place of hurt. But I really dislike when it’s made out to be him overreacting for the sake of overreacting, because it is something that actually slowly builds as the game progresses. Also I am not trying to shift blame onto Ryuji - honestly the rest of the group are also somewhat at fault for egging the two on in a way or ignoring them. No one defends either of them, but obviously that’s also because they don’t realize how serious it actually gets sometimes. This is what lack of communication does to a mf😔

Maybe I’ve just overanalyzed the funny kitty too much, but I wish the fandom would appreciate him more and see this arc from BOTH perspectives because one is not more right than the other. If you read all this thank you gdhgdhshs I hope it made sense, I have. A lot of feelings about Morgana I care him. So glad strikers gave us the Ryuji and Morgana dynamic we deserve.
