#raveartts #httyd #how to train your dragon #light fury #dragon art #anyways so i was trying to study what method was used to draw the httyd concept art #and eventually i think i figured it out #it's (colored) pencils with alcohol markers #i was unsure if it was digital or watercolor at first tbh #also they definitely use toned paper which i simply do not have #so I gave it a shot by mashing up some of the light fury concepts for fun #i didn't fully finish coloring it bc i got tired #but i think i captured The Look at least a little bit #style replication isn't really my thing ofc but for a first attempt. you can see it resembles the concepts #.....also honestly. this is unrelated #but i've never fully watched httyd 3. i tried numerous times but i could never get my full attention on it #i'm sorry it's just. so bad omg #i think the light fury's design isn't as awful as people make it out to be #but she just doesn't look like she belongs in the universe either #SHE'S TOO FUCKING SMOOTH MAKE HER ROUGH #though the way she's animated is very nice to look at ofc

Interesting thing about the Big Dipper is it’s part of a larger constellation, Ursa Major, and the Little Dipper is Ursa Minor. The moles on the Yoshiki face are like the moles on his dad’s except his dad has more. Just kind of further visually connecting Yoshiki to his father with constellations.

#The myth of the Ursas is that woman had kid with Zeus and got turned into a bear. Her kid went bear hunting and didn’t realize it was her #So Zeus turned them both into constellations to stop him from killing her #Yoshiki tries to kill his dad when? #Would be iconic of him #Ig this is a loose connection because they specifically say big dipper #And it’d make more sense for Yoshiki to be the Little Dipper since he’s the jr but I just thought it was interesting #Yoshiki has a bit of a thing with stars. Here's some of that post pride-fight and getting bailed out conversation with Steve's parents:

After a night spent in jail, bonding with his cellmates and writing down their numbers with some femme’s spare lipstick on the back of a flier from an AT&T booth, his parents had arrived to bail him out. Steve had taken one look at them, at their business clothes and designer watches and worried, beyond confused expressions, and almost said he’d rather just stay behind bars for now.

Instead, he convinced his parents to post bail for a few of his new friends, waved off their gratitude (they’d been through battle together, after all), and followed his parents out to the car after a few hugs and promises to make a group chat so they could hang out later.

"You're just lucky no charges were filed," his father says, pulling Steve from his thoughts once more.

He sighs, slumping down in his seat. A few seconds pass before Steve admits, “I’d do it again.” It’s the truth; he wouldn’t fucking hesitate to throw himself into the fray again. He doesn’t even know those kids’ names, but he knows they deserve more than being afraid of who they are and the monsters that masquerade in human skin around them.

#ohhhhhhh i really do dislike the tonal shift in bg2/tob so much........ and by that i mean mostly in xan's mod 😭 #i mean maybe the sense of betrayal and disappointment is immersive but it really leaves me with No idea what to do with him #in my version of radri's story. like. do i do my best even with all the parts i find ooc? do i cherry pick what i want and forget the rest? #and even after all my complaints i keep thinking back to his author. the fact that somehow this is the *intended* experience #currently feeling like the necromancer who resurrected their wife and is convinced she came back wrong but who just never truly knew her #i keep going back to 'estel'amin'. the fact that xan named charname his hope--and then quickly stopped using that name for her #once her bhaalspawn nature continued to affect her life after the conclusion of bg1 #so--basically--i'm to assume that he changed his mind? she's no longer his hope; his light; and if she is it's rare #he just calls her beautiful now; something far more shallow #and the fact that in tob he vacillates between subtly criticizing her for her nature which she has no control over #(and which in radri's case she has never even willingly given in to)-- #and attempting to comfort her after her nature makes bad things happen to her & around her #--but then his comfort is once again undermined by the aforementioned shallow compliments #it's coming across as 'i love your body despite what you are in spirit' and really isn't a great look at all #look maybe i'm crazy but in bg1 i got the impression that he was able to accept and move past it fairly quickly #like 'ok you're a bhaalspawn so now let's move into problem solving. obviously i have to quit my job and travel with you full time' #but in bg2 he spends most of his time lamenting about how hard it must be for her to live like this #while also pointing it out as a personal flaw of hers. as if she'd had any say in who her father was #like there are npcs literally shouting 'i hate all bhaalspawn!' and here he is--supposedly her closest supporter-- #also subtly saying 'i hate bhaalspawn' right to her face #when literally as a neutral alignment and as a companion of 1-2 years-- he should actually have THE most nuanced take on her??? #in bg1 he says murder is unavoidable in the life of an adventurer. then in tob he comments that charname kills everyone haphazardly-- #--as though in another jab to her nature. meanwhile as a constant companion he should know better than anyone that it wasn't so simple #idk. i'm almost feeling gaslighted by the narrative in a sense #because when everyone else talks about xan in bg2/tob--including charname via the dialogue options/written internal dialogue-- #they say that he's ~gray~ and calm and collected and emotionless etc #meanwhile he's literally the most emotional guy in the game. like. he's freaked out SO many times #so?? how am i supposed to take anything here genuinely?? how am i supposed to engage??? Y'know not to be a party pooper but I think ppl should start thinking abt their queer hcs for more than five seconds when making hcs for characters. Like I think ppl get too comfy in the "fuck you, they're all gay/trans/whatever!" mindset sometimes and that sort of spiteful gut instinct way of going abt it can lead to some. Like I mainly just think ppl should examine their gut instincts before just stamping it on, because sometimes gut instincts are unconscious bias, and like it's not inherently evil to have a queer character that somewhat lines up with a stereotype sometimes, real people can as well, but like you've gotta handle that shit with care and caution man, looking at you non lesbians having mean lesbian hcs
