I think I've pinpointed the main reason I'm so viscerally unhappy with the direction the writers chose to go in with Nace -- obviously this is just my opinion, so any use of objective terms like "supposed to be", etc is not meant to be taken literally. It's just me airing out my takes on the storytelling.

For me, one of the most appealing things about Nace is how they juxtapose all of Nancy's other romantic endeavors. From the beginning, it's been different with Ace. He isn't a fast-moving hookup or a form of escapism. He gradually grows into the role of a best friend, a partner, someone she is emotionally open with, and the person who can keep her steady when shit hits the fan. Ace's presence encourages Nancy to embrace love (especially self-love) rather than facilitating her urge to push it away.

I associate Nick and Owen, Nancy's season 1 ships -- which ideally would establish a starting point for her -- with Nancy resigning to choices or circumstances that are out of her control, and having to move on from something she really wanted to make work. Both of these relationships were ripped from her grasp, thus leading to pain and reinforcing her belief that she isn't deserving of That Kind of love.

Do you see where I'm going with this?

Season 4 has essentially applied these negative season 1 traits to Nancy/Ace, her supposed endgame, with the curse and how it has torn them apart. I've always believed her endgame should break down these patterns entirely, not slap a new coat of paint on them. The idea is for Nancy to learn that true love doesn't HAVE to be painful, that love shouldn't break your spirit. Not when it's the right person. There's no real reason to be rehashing angst and hopelessness and rebounds this late in the game -- not with Ace, who is narratively recognized as The One. This should be the relationship for Nancy that symbolizes joy and the warmth of falling for a friend. It should feel cozy and stable. Why would we want to validate Nancy's belief that great love must come with great suffering? I've always loved Nace for the themes of growth that it reflects in Nancy's character -- that she is learning what real love feels like, that she is embracing her most authentic self, that she has moved away from the closed-off girl we met at the start who used relationships as a distraction from her pain.

Ace is supposed to represent comfort, security, and a safe haven from the strife that surrounds Nancy's life... yet now he is the central cause of her strife. I don't want her to be miserable because of whatever is going on with Ace. I want Ace to be her solace from whatever else is making her miserable! That's how this relationship was built to function!!! That was the entire point!!!!!

I can't help but feel like this star-crossed drama sours their connection a little, when I ship them specifically for the way Ace has always been an anomaly for her; someone with whom she could let her guard down and communicate freely due to the harmonious undercurrent between them. Now they can't make it through (1) conversation without 'breaking up' or stabbing each other in the heart. It's exhausting. It's counterintuitive to everything I love about them. I don't expect a relationship without its bumps in the road, but their arc is so dramatic and heightened now, it's like the writers have disregarded why these two worked so well together in the first place.

All I ever wanted was a sweet little slowburn coworkers-to-besties-to-lovers arc where they both surprise themselves by falling for each other 💐 of course I'm still rooting for them to end up together, but it hurts to know that what was once my #1 currently-airing OTP is barely even a shell of what I hoped it would be.

1: sexuality headcanon - In spite of what I may write later, in my current series I definitely have him as entirely uninterested in all romantic and sexual relationships, but definitely willing and able to use both to manipulate others (Renathal)

2: otp - Denathrius/Denathrius. Only loves himself. Would fuck his clone.

3: brotp - Denathrius/Zovaal but only in the sense that they are both using each other to achieve an end. Each thinks they ultimately have the upper hand in the partnership (and since Denathrius is the one who survives I guess he was sort of right in the end; still crossing fingers for him to be top billed villain a couple expansions down the line)

4: notp - see Renathal's notp. Still applies. I respect everyone else's right to ship this if they want but anything that even smells like it might have walked past someone else smoking incest one time is going to be a no from me always.

5: first headcanon that pops into my head - My top headcanon for him will always be that he has a cult leader management style in which he prevents uprising by making sure no one in the realm (read: Renathal) has an intimate relationship (platonic or romantic) that doesn’t center around himself. All Revendreth relationships must revolve around Denathrius, and he purposely stirs the Harvesters against each other to keep them from figuring out his true plans and banding together to depose him.

6: favorite line from this character - “Crawl to me on your knees,” because sometimes evil hot. Still evil though.

7: one way in which I relate to this character: I, too, tend to be holding a wine glass in all my pictures.

8: thing that gives me second hand embarrassment about this character - His inability to close his shirt over his massive tits is triggering for me (and the many times I have also been unable to button a shirt for this same issue).

"Karnataka Battles Cybercrime Surge: Over Rs 65 Crore Stolen in 2023 Q1, Police Foil Rs 17 Crore Cyber Heist"

Karnataka has been grappling with a distressing rise in cybercrime during the first half of 2023, with a staggering amount of over Rs 65 crore stolen by cybercriminals. However, swift police action and prompt complaints by victims have resulted in preventing around Rs 17 crore (26 per cent) from falling into the hands of cyber thieves.

In the preceding year, cyber thieves had managed to dupe victims of Rs 76.9 crore, but the police successfully thwarted Rs 14.7 crore from reaching these criminals by freezing their bank accounts and e-wallets.

The victims played a crucial role in the fight against cybercrime by registering complaints through the police control (112) or the national helpline (1930). As soon as the victim calls 112 or 1930, Cyber Information Reports (CIRs) are registered, and immediate steps are taken to freeze the illicitly obtained funds in the accounts of the accused.

One victim shared his harrowing ordeal, recounting how he received a call from an unknown miscreant in the early hours, requesting an OTP for a loan approval, which he had applied for previously. Unaware of the trap, he provided the OTP, only to wake up to a loss of Rs 1.44 lakh from his account. The miscreant had withdrawn Rs 12,000 each for 12 transactions. Although the police managed to retrieve 50% of the stolen amount through a reverse hack, the remaining funds were irrecoverable.

Since the inception of CIRs, there have been 12,850 complaints of cybercrime, out of which 11,719 have been resolved. The focus has been on retrieving the stolen money and returning it to the victims, rather than solely chasing cyber fraudsters.

Between January 1 and June 30, 2023, Rs 65 lakh has been successfully returned to the victims who acted promptly and lodged CIRs immediately after the incidents occurred.

Once the police seize funds from the bank accounts of cyber fraudsters, they file a case in a local court. After obtaining the court's permission, the recovered money is returned to the victims through proper procedures.

The rise of cybercrime in Karnataka is evident from the reported 4,090 cases in the first six months of 2023, with a staggering cheated amount of Rs 65.1 crore. However, authorities managed to recover Rs 16.4 crore and refund Rs 65 lakh to the victims. The previous year, 2022, saw 8,760 reported cases of cyber fraud, amounting to Rs 76.9 crore cheated. The authorities managed to recover Rs 14.7 crore, while the refund to victims was Rs 1.9 crore. In the cumulative period of 18 months, from January 2022 to June 2023, the total reported cases reached 12,850, with an alarming cheated amount of Rs 142 crore. During this time, Rs 31.1 crore was successfully recovered, and a refund of Rs 2.6 crore was made to the victims.

Bengaluru City has witnessed the conviction of 25 cyber fraudsters in the last five years, serving as a testament to the efforts to combat cybercrime. To combat cyber fraud effectively, victims are urged to file complaints through CIRs within two hours of the incident. Victims must call 112 or 1930 during this crucial "Golden Hour," after which it becomes challenging to trace the bank accounts and freeze the illicit funds.

Karnataka authorities continue their relentless fight against cybercrime, emphasizing the importance of timely action and public awareness in tackling this growing threat.

Proposed Billing Guidelines for Opioid Treatment Programs

Recently, CMS has proposed Medicare Physician Fee Schedule Proposed Rule for the year 2023. This proposed rule also includes billing for Opioid Treatment Programs (OTPs). These proposed billing guidelines for Opioid Treatment Programs include revising pricing for the drug component of the methadone; modifying the payment rate for the non-drug component of the bundled payments for episodes of care to base the rate for individual therapy on a crosswalk code describing a 45-minute session; allowing the OTP intake add-on code to be furnished via two-way audio-video communications technology; and discussing SAMHSA and DEA guidance.

Opioid Treatment Programs (OTPs) In order to stabilize the price for methadone for CY 2023 and subsequent years, CMS proposed to revise their methodology for pricing the drug component of the methadone weekly bundle and the add-on code for take-home supplies of methadone. Under this proposal, CMS would base the payment amount for the drug component of HCPCS codes G2067 and G2078 for CY 2023 and subsequent years on the payment amount for methadone in CY 2021 and update this amount annually to account for inflation using the PPI for Pharmaceuticals for Human Use (Prescription). Additionally, based on the severity of needs of the patient population diagnosed with opioid use disorder (OUD) and receiving services in the OTP setting, CMS proposed to modify the payment rate for the non-drug component of the bundled payments for episodes of care to base the rate for individual therapy on a crosswalk code describing a 45-minute session, rather than the current crosswalk to a code describing a 30-minute session. This would increase overall payments for medication-assisted treatment and other treatments for OUD, recognizing the longer therapy sessions that are usually required.

CMS also proposed to allow the OTP intake add-on code to be furnished via two-way audio-video communications technology when billed for the initiation of treatment with buprenorphine, to the extent that the use of audio-video telecommunications technology to initiate treatment with buprenorphine is authorized by the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) and Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) at the time the service is furnished. CMS also proposes to permit the use of audio-only communication technology to initiate treatment with buprenorphine in cases where audio-video technology is not available to the beneficiary and all other applicable requirements are met.

Additionally, CMS is clarifying that OTPs can bill Medicare for medically reasonable and necessary services furnished via mobile units in accordance with SAMHSA and DEA guidance. CMS is proposing that locality adjustments for services furnished via mobile units would be applied as if the service were furnished at the physical location of the OTP registered with DEA and certified by SAMHSA.

It’s honestly a shame that there is so much bad blood behind this, because it is, in fact, a very interesting thing to talk about, and I am going to attempt to do so in good faith, because I love thinking about this kind of thing. Even though I am very openly a Renruki shipper, I love all three of these characters very much, and I think that Ichigo and Rukia’s relationship is very important! I am doing my best to be neutral, although I have not read very much Ichiruki fanfic/meta, so please give me a benefit of a doubt. Obviously, I can’t stop anyone from reblogging this and putting their own comments on it, but I have no interest in getting in debates over it, so don’t be surprised if I don’t engage.

This is both long, and I am sure some people don’t care, so I’m gonna put the rest under a cut. I have tried to hard to write this in a way that will not make anyone mad, but if you think it will make you mad, please give yourself the gift of not clicking on it.

I think it’s safe to assume that they are roughly close in age to each other, but I think Rukia may perceive Renji as seeming older than herself-- he graduated from school, and she didn’t; he’s on his third squad transfer, whereas she’s hasn’t budged from her initial, entry-level job, and he’s now middle management. However, the arc of the story we don’t get to see, is that over the timeskips, Rukia not only catches up to, but surpasses him. Also, not for nothing, but I think that in the same way Rukia is immediately drawn to Ichigo because of his resemblance to Kaien, I think she is also drawn to him for his resemblance to Young Renji-- a grumpy, prickly young man, leaking self-doubt from every pore, whom she is more able to be generous towards through the lens of age and experience. (And I think this comparison could support either ship)

- Ichigo is the protagonist. Rules don’t apply to him. Fate breaks on his sword. He represents the triumph of love or hard work or dreams or what have you over the cruel millstone of the world. Renji, on the other hand, is firmly bound to the rules of the world in which he inhabits. In fact, that is arguably the entire purpose of his character. Renji’s fights are often used to set the stakes of the conflict-- ah, Renji got mangled, this guy must be tough. In the Soul Society Arc, he is an antagonist because he is doing what he is supposed to. In the TYBW, Kubo literally throws the two of them in a pit to fight some asauchi just to make the point that Renji is a shinigami and Ichigo is something else.

Let’s jump over to Rukia for a moment. Rukia is a great character, one of my favorite characters in any media. Rukia contains multitudes. She is tough and strong, but often melancholy. She can be beautiful and elegant, but she also lies and breaks rules and tried to put Kon in a dead cat once. Emotionally, she likes to present a cool front, but she has a big, loving heart, and she feels deeply. As a character, all of this makes her very easy to project onto, which is why I think so many people OTP her with someone, no matter who.Some people choose to try to make her into one of these things or another, and some people try to keep her as the full bundle of contradictions that she is.

There is also some degree of character interpretation at work, too-- there seems to be a huge degree of disagreement between fans as to whether:

a) Ichigo enjoys his normal, human life, and even though he do anything to protect what he loves, he would prefer to live a human existence with his human friends and family. He credits Rukia will helping him realize his strength and powers.

b) Ichigo is unsatisfied with his human life and that meeting Rukia opened the doorway to a life of excitement and adventure, on top of being given the strength to protect his loved ones.

As far as Ichigo pairings go, I think that most IchiHime people fall in category (a) and most IchiRuki (and GrimmIchi) shippers fall in (b). In both cases, peoples’ ships align with their view of what makes Ichigo happy. Most IchiRuki content I have seen  seems to feature Ichigo moving to Soul Society, rather than Rukia moving to Karakura. Rukia pretty explicitly indicates at the end of the Soul Society Arc that she wants to stay in Soul Society, plus she’s got a pretty established life there. Contrast that to the story of Isshin and Masaki-- Isshin seems pretty flippant and disaffected about his life in Soul Society; it doesn’t seem like it was a particularly hard choice for him to give up being a shinigami. Also, it’s pretty clear that what Isshin did was illegal, and I’m not sure there would be an easy way for Rukia to just say “WELP, I’m off to live as a human, smell you jerks later.”

To try to wrap things up, I think the actual dynamics of an IchiRuki or RenRuki relationship would be very similar, actually. They would banter a lot and dive headfirst into danger and support each other no matter what. Byakuya would treat either guy with the vaguest, most grudging amount of respect. The primary perpetual, unresolved argument between Rukia and Ichigo would be “The Living World is dumb/Soul Society is dumb”, whereas with Rukia and Renji, it would be “Squad 6 is dumb/Squad 13 is dumb wait no I didn’t mean that Captain Ukitake is an angel.”

Personally, I headcanon Renji as being more able than Ichigo to step back and be the support person in the relationship (see that bullet about Ichigo being the protag), so I think that RenRuki could manage to run a functional household, whereas Ichigo and Rukia would just go on adventures until they got arrested for tax evasion.

*For the record, I am very pro-IchiRenRuki, except that they would be even worse at running a household. It’s just Renji trying to explain how a chore wheel works while Rukia and Ichigo walk out the door on him.

17. Any OC OTPs?

kissta x noreen: Noreen goes out a lot. To everyone else, it's all part of her charm, she's just here to have fun, and since she's royalty she can pay for it too. But Kissta sees through her, she knows Noreen is just running from her problems by drowning herself in other people. Noreen wants to love Kissta back but she's concerned about her status and doesn't know how, so she pushes her away. (both of them: "I can fix her" I like this one bc Kissta is so vocal/persistent abt loving Noreen, also it's kinda royal x guard)

eudora x lailah: Eudora and Lailah were married. I say "were" because their memories were wiped and they were placed in totally different locations because of some mischievous goddess. At some point, Eudora's memories are restored, but not Lailah's. Having all the memories of being together, and all the love they shared together, but not having those feelings returned must really hurt. (I like this one bc they're soulmates. They've lived maybe 3 lives up to this point but they'll always find their way back together)

32. Which one of your OCs would be the most suitable horror game protagonist and why?

I don't rlly play horror games so idk what makes a good one, but I think a good protag would be someone who's level headed, or totally indifferent to the horrors. Chacha is Jaimie's protector, so he already knows abt all the supernaturals who want a bite of him (Jaimie's got v yummy mermaid blood but doesn't kno it) Chacha would be able to keep calm and get the job done

Clover is my Heartgold player w insp from more modern pokemon fashion// I played HG when I was younger, but didn't get far bc the game file got corrupted. Now that I'm older, I'm able to restart with a new game and enjoy all her new adventures with her silly little empty-headed potato starter.

My first zine was a bnha oc zine and I drew Aster for my piece (current interest + readily available oc + for profit = hell yeah I'm gonna apply!!) I got to see Aster, my oc, printed, physically in my hands, and it was absolutely AMAZING!! 100/10 would do it again, I ended up joining more zines after that
