Theories about CPV2

I wanna talk about q!Etoiles' mission to the Nether for a bit. More specifically about the two opposed theories I have.

First off, something we can mostly agree is that the Code is scared of q!Etoiles. It faced him several times in the past, all of which ended with our favorite French Cucumber's victory, so much so that the last time it was forced to flee. Even now with the sword, it realized that killing him would be next to impossible. So, what to do about him?

Trap him in the Nether. In this scenario, the Code has no idea about the existence of the shield. It made q!Etoiles follow it into an active Nether portal, knowing he wouldn't resist, and then closed the door behind him. I watched the VOD, q!Etoiles misremembered, the Code wasn't in the Nether with him. It didn't drop the image frame with the shield schematics and coordinates, it was an invisible admin. The code has dropped items before while visible, so what gives? Moreso, the portal he went through is in an old structure. Someone built it before, and maybe it is one of the few known stable Nether portal (remember, q!Forever's portal was deemed "unstable"). Since people went through it in the past, they must've left clues, and the admin dropping those schematics might've been a meta way to say "q!Etoiles stumbled upon forgotten schematics when he arrived in the Nether". q!Etoiles is smart, but his specialty is game mechanics strategy (and culture), not mystery solving. Case in point, the "enigma" he faced while in the fortress was not hard per se (find keycard), and he still struggled. Again, I'm not saying he's dumb, people often forget that intelligence manifests in many different ways, and this just isn't his. We know the admins are adapting the difficulty based on the player involved, hence why Forever's Nether event wasn't too hard monster-wise: the players there were not strong enough. So in this scenario, the enigma was "easy" for RP reasons, and the Code had nothing to do with the shield. q!Etoiles just went through an existing doorway, found clues left by those who crossed it before him, which lead him to the shield. Unbeknownst to the Code, he then found a way out, where the Code was waiting for him just in case, however this time the Code was even more outmatched. This option has one major problem however: if CPV1 was so dangerous, how can we be sure CPV2 doesn't have the same flaw? Whatever intense trial CPV1 went through, it ended with its "remains" destroyed, which means despite its infinite durability, the experiment led to its partial destruction. The book says there were schematics for subsequent iterations (which includes CPV2 I'm assuming), and those were destroyed too "as per protocol", but nothing is said about getting rid of the iterations themselves. This means that the unprecedented events from the intense trial weren't worth even the destruction of presumably dangerous items, so they had to hide it. This also means those events might happen again now. Hence, my second theory:

The Code wanted q!Etoiles to find the shield. From the very beginning there has been clues that the code might be a mistake, an experiment from the Federation gone wrong. What if CPV1 is what created the Code? What if the intense trial led not just to the shield being destroyed, but to the creation of the Code? That would be why they didn't re-execute the trials, because it would unleash another monster. And who better than the hot-headed, dungeon-cleaner q!Etoiles to reproduce the conditions of that intense trial? Worse, what if the unprecedented event didn't just create the Code, but turn the user into it. Etoiles wanted a villain arc, what if it involves him becoming a Code Entity? That would be an excellent way for the Code to deal with its "q!Etoiles problem" imo.

Whatever the case may be, whether it was the Code's objective or not, I believe the intense conditions of the trial will be met once again due to q!Etoiles' behavior. Time will tell what this will unleash.

Hi Coven! I’ve been following your blog for. A while. Hello. Llama and I were chatting about your XD vs canon!XD and came up with a pretty interesting idea? And I need to introduce myself somehow so I guess I’m telling you about it now.

So, as per the ask I sent a few days ago (yes that was me lol) coven! and canon!XD are VERY different. And something interesting about how canon!XD acts is that. He’s not really HUMAN — he doesn’t really react like one at ALL. Where your XD is a fully fleshed out character (who I love very much) canon!XD is the one character in the whole series that I might actually pin down as Pure Evil. He has his moments, sure, but a lot of the time it almost feels like a mimicry of life instead of an actual example of it. Not to mention his whole thing about literally feeding off of misery and pain, to the point where he’s created this whole Limbo space to act as his digestive system. For context, there’s this person I follow on Dreblr (the-final-sif, she’s incredible, highly recommend) who often talks about “viruses” as they would exist in a world made entirely of code. And it kind of got me thinking: what if canon!XD was a virus?

Consider: Dream and coven!DreamXD have a falling out of some sort like you’ve indicated before, something about Dream pushing XD away as he grows up and then feeling rejected when XD reluctantly isn’t as affectionate with him anymore. Point is they don’t talk so often nowadays: XD is off doing other things, and Dream is now making his very first server and he’s so EXCITED :3 Because this is going to be a Happy Place for him and his One Big Happy Family :33 And hey, if he does a good job then maybe XD’ll come back someday — who knows??

And then a virus somehow latches onto the world’s code.

As the Admin, Dream is kind of…connected to the world. And in most circumstances he’d probably be able to detect the virus and get rid of it immediately. But, as luck would have had it, this is a virus that is INCREDIBLY advanced — advanced enough to be able to avoid detection. And it does this by — basically feeding off of Dream’s memories, taking his memories of coven!XD and becoming a caricature of how he remembers his older brother. And it tampers with those memories in the process, making them fuzzy and hard to recall, so Dream can’t see the difference.

And then, with a body stolen from Dream’s memories of coven!XD, the virus becomes canon!XD and starts feeding off of the server like a parasite.

It creates the Three Lives system, and instills it in the memories of the server members. It creates Limbo as a place where it can eat off of the players’ codes. And it does all of this while remaining near-invisible to those within the server’s borders. Dream can’t detect it, and can’t even really remember his brother much anymore — and the memories he still does have are caricatures of who coven!XD actually was. Some of the other players, those who’ve met coven!XD before, they can tell that something’s off — George, mainly — but it’s. Well. Who’d suspect something like this? It would mean suspecting that reality itself is bending in around them.

Bonus: canon!XD’s existence is feeding off of Dream a LOT. At first it’s barely noticeable, but as the plot progresses and he becomes more and more unstable the parasite gets a firmer grip, and by the time someone finally notices he’s kind of. Mentally destroyed. Even moreso than in canon, somehow. Maybe his motor functions have begun to give out or something, I dunno.

Bonus x2: coven!XD comes to visit after a while and is horrified at 1) the state of his little brother, 2) the parasitic bundle of code that has ruined the server his baby brother was so excited to make for him and his friends and 3) that…is THIS really how his little brother sees him?

Virus XD is such an amazingly dope concept I love it so fking much. Not only does it beautifully tie in with canon!XD but it's such an amazing character design because XD does, in canon, sort of act like a virus. Messing up peoples lives and taking them to feed. That's actually an incredible idea.

And then XD morphing and pretending to be coven!XD 😭 omg omg using Dream's own feelings towards his brother so the creature morphs into that. An aloof, uncaring, maybe downright mean version of coven!XD and Dream just can't tell the difference from the corruption. I'm so imagining a scene between Dream and canon!XD arguing, and XD is loving it. He's loving the misery off Dream (and maybe with the more intense negative feelings from Dream it gets canon!XD stronger like there's more to feed on) and Dream is so enraged but sad because he's saying "Why are you like this?? You were never like this!" and canon!XD can just answer "Wasn't I?" and Dream can't deny it because his memories are already messed up beyond repair but he remembers some good feelings from XD. He remembers feeling safe and happy with XD but he has no memories of it actually happening. Which just confuses and frustrates Dream more.

AND I LOVE how it feeds of Dream makes dream more unstable. Mentally. Physically. EVERYTHING. Which I think fits perfectly to dream's predicament and plans. His mind is being messed with and he's mentally all over the place, so he acts out negatively to those around him. Which in turn makes everyone react hostile to Dream, which makes Dream act hostile to them in return again, giving virus!XD more to feed off of. A cycle the virus is deliberately making to grow stronger. Maybe it's full power can only be taken when Dream is so mentally and physically drained. Maybe (say after the prison break) Dream is just so unused to his own body he cannot move for long. Like he's forever with pins and needles all over his body, it all doesn't feel right.

AND THEN coven!XD coming back and seeing whats happened. I just it kills me to imagine him finding Dream first, so limp and weak in his body but when coven!XD goes to help, Dream is crying and telling him to get away and XD is just "???" so confused. Meeting the virus!XD 😭omg cause the first thing he'd probably think of is "how did Dream ever think that was me?" and then realising that that is how he's been acting to Dream. Of course it's all overexaggerated but that's how Dream saw it and maybe it isn't far off from the truth. But firsts things first, he has to absolutely go and kick a virus ass.

It has been twenty-one years since her husband passed away. The boys have grown-up well (though they weren’t without their issues) and Laurel, despite missing Wilden something awful, has finally found it in herself to move on from the heartbreak.

She just hopes that her sons will finally learn to get a long with each other, and that they too can move on from the death of their father.

Do you have any recommendations for someone who wants to start a Glee D/s rp ( Thinking multiples with oc families as options)?

I do, actually. Before I say anything else, I do have to warn you that the grpc seems to have dried up. My rp does have a few people in it and we're very active, even moreso after the newest two players joined the crew, but everything else that's hit the tags in the last few years has been barked out to an audience of none. No matter how people promo, ask what people want, change things to suit opinions, pander to what people say they want, and bend over backwards while doing the splits, people don't join. @feudhq came to me before they opened to the public and asked me to do a full, private review. I did, we went over their main blog and their plots, they changed a few things, when they opened to the public I shouted them out and applied immediately, I even brought a friend with me to apply as well, and they still only got one other app before going radio silent. @hathawayhqs went through the same steps, got a few more people but none of them posted and before we knew it, it was just the admin and I on the dash with one other person. There was a bit of a revamp and the group reopened as an open fandom rp and nobody applied but me. @theseasontm is an oc rp that appears to run on the grpc format, which people have asked for specifically, and I don't see anyone applying to that at all; and it's even more relevant to you because it's got optional D/s themes and if people asked them to become a Glee multiples rp I bet they would. I've seen rps that go back to the golden days of the grpc like a Harry Potter/Glee crossover that was set post Battle of Hogwarts that was just a bunch of traveling wizards enjoying life. There have been a bunch of roadtrip and band touring Glee rps in the tags. A thousand open town rps, a plethora of canon redos of all seasons, show choir centered rps, D/s themed rps, au rps, crossover rps. And yet it looks to me like my rp is the only Glee rp still open, outside of Luxe (which I've heard is very unwelcoming, I know a few people that left because there is only one person in the whole rp that replies to new people and it's just a bunch of bubble rping) and What If (which is a very unwelcoming place that is infamously known for being the home of a clique of bullies that terrorize people into leaving the whole grpc and isn't active anyway).

I think that the lack of activity in the grpc is because we no longer have a sense of community. We used to. People used to have huge Skype calls that were open to anyone to join in, we used to do chatzy and talk to each other outside of rp groups on rps/muse blogs and things. But friend groups have shattered, drama has made people less social to the point that ooc group chats are overwhelming to a lot of people, people are afraid to join new things for fear of being bullied, everyone assumes everything is going to die anyway, and the lack of communicating the way that we used to means that even when we do miraculously end up in an rp environment with other people, a lot of people don't seem to know what to do anymore. How do we plot? How do we do things organically? How do we get ships going? How do we get things going outside of ships? How do we stay relevant to the dash? Trying to reply to the whole rp and naturally coming to a thousand and one brilliant plots feels like a thing of the past.

For a D/s rp in specific, here are my thoughts:

Make sure you make the difference between D/s and M/s clear and stick to D/s. That means SAFE, SANE, AND CONSENSUAL. That means happy fun time AND punishment time. Nobody should ever be walking around like "fuck D/s, I hate this" in a D/s rp because to be true D/s, everyone should be consenting from the very start. Nobody should feel lesser than, nobody should be running around talking like submissives are less than their dominant counterparts. Submissives choose to willingly take a knee, to bend by GIVING someone power, not by being FORCED to bend to power. Personally, I think that @theseasontm did a great thing by making the D/s optional, that way the rp is open fully, even to people who aren't comfortable with D/s.

Ban incest in your rules right off the bat. If you don't, you'll have to address it later and that's just a very uncomfortable position to be in. It's 2022 and we shouldn't have to tell people why it's not right for someone to be screwing their own sibling, but there are plenty of people out there that will make you make that argument and try to turn it into a debate. Even without the fight, it's awkward to have to tell someone they can't choose that path for their character. That they have to ship with someone outside of their family tree. People will also assume that you allow twincest if you don't specifically say it's not allowed, so some people won't give your rp a chance if that isn't clear.

Ban pedophilia and all pedophilic material. What I mean by that is first, obviously ban all minors, ic and ooc. Ban the use of anyone under 18 being pictured on the dash at all; I know people like to have their characters have kids and stuff and that's fine, but it's a little weird to have pictures of babies and toddlers on the same dash as people stripped and strapped, if you catch my drift. Ask that people keep mature details to a minimum in their bios for their character's life before 18 (so don't make a character that's been a sex worker since 15, there's no reason to romanticize that), and make sure it's known that the D/s structure of your rp does not enter into anyone's lives until after 18. Personally, I would also say that making it a 21+ rp is a good idea, both ic and ooc. That way your muses on the dash aren't teenagers while they're... D/sing each other.

Specify any lore that's individual to your rp. For example, some D/s rps are biological, meaning there is an inherent urge to either dominate or submit. Some people might say that most people that are into the D/s scene are biologically inclined, if you look up the definition of a fetish. Others say that approach takes away consent. You'll also want to establish the laws of the land, like how claiming works, whether being poly is as normal as it usually is in BDSM in the real world, whether there are any laws about the D/s structure, etc. Some people will ask questions if they have any, but not everyone will and whatever makes your rp special might be what makes people keep reading.

I think making it a multiples rp is a good plan too. I've heard people complaining about a lack of canons only rps, but I have seen a bunch of canons only rps open up (and mine was canons only when it started) and they don't do any better than everything else that fails so I guess take their requests with a grain of salt. Multiples rps means that even if you don't know Glee, you can still join, and you can make that clear on your main page. Somewhere obvious that you'll see immediately, and put it on your ads too. A lot of people in the grpc are too afraid to play canons, having become self-conscious after a million and one rabid Tumblr users sent out anon hate specifically targeting people for their characterizations. You might think that's a thing of the past, and it certainly happened a lot back in the day, but I saw a Marley Rose get bullied right off Tumblr less than a year ago because she was getting daily anon hate telling her that her Marley was ooc and annoying. So having the comfort fcs we all love and the family info we're all so attached to but being allowed to make your own oc is a good thing for those people.

Who the ATLA kids would be in a senior-year-but-we’re-quarantined high school AU

(Everyone is the same age for Continuity Purposes, pls disregard how weird that is)

Sokka: Sokka is the nerd who tries to get people to think he’s a jock but is really not doing a great job of it. He’s a genius with computers and he doesn’t get the best grades because he refuses to study, ever, but is freaking smart and got into a really good college engineering program. (Not that he’d ever admit it. It’s not his Brand.) Tries to play football because he thinks it’ll help him get girls. Sucks. Everyone but him is aware of this. Has been spending all of quarantine whining about quarantine and playing video games. Incredibly upset because he may or may not have been planning the world’s most elaborate promposal for Suki that now will not happen.

-Katara: Katara is the valedictorian type who has never had fun in her life, but that one time the gang got her to go to a party, she was an absolute Legend. Other than missing her Children (Katara is the mom friend in every universe), she’s taking quarantine okay because she has minimal social life outside of her squad, but the idea of missing out on Senior Traditions gives her a coronary. Definitely posted her valedictorian speech to YouTube after graduation got cancelled because there’s no way in HECK she’s missing an opportunity to lecture her peers about hope and perseverance or whatever.

-Aang: Aang transferred into this school in 10th grade and was promptly adopted by Katara, his lab partner in chemistry, who had to try to stop him from playing with chemicals. He’s constantly disrupting class, either to liven things up or to have a moment of Moral Indignation, and his teachers kinda hate him (a la the fire nation school episode), but nothing ever happens to him because the admin loves him. Gets 800 awards every year for his 2000 hours of community service, which he never shuts up about. Hates quarantine because he misses the gang (and the fifteen different volunteer jobs he has), but makes the best of it. As one of his volunteer gigs, he trains seeing eye dogs, and that’s how he met...

-Toph: Toph is the girl everyone is afraid of. Rich and will die mad about it; everyone is surprised by this because she has the distinct air of somoene who grew up fighting off existential threats to her very existence. Her seeing eye dog is far more popular than she is, probably because it actually likes people. When she received the dog, she inadvertently got its trainer and his entire friend group as part of the package deal, which she pretends to hate because of her Branding but actually loves. She’s on the water polo team, which seems highly improbable, but seriously, this girl will DROWN YOU. Taking quarantine quite well because she hates people but would never admit that she misses her friends.

-Suki: Suki is the captain of the girl’s volleyball team, one of the best players in the state, D1 offers all over the place, no one has any idea how Sokka got with her. He thinks he’s the jock in their relationship - yeah, no. She’s super aggressive on the court but almost universally liked because unless you give her cause to hate you, she’s just...chill. She’s upset about the lack of off season training during quarantine but at least she can work out more, which is a plus.

-Zuko: Zuko basically has a permanent seat in detention, which was almost never his fault at first but slowly became moreso over the years as he got progressively more mad at the system that kept wrongfully punishing him. Met Aang in detention, adopted by the group against his will directly thereafter (in for something with a Bunsen burner, don’t ask). Still lowkey popular despite the anger issues; he’s the captain of some sorta sports team. Doesn’t want to go to college but his uncle is making him. Loves quarantine, no people! except that it gives him more time to Pine because his love life is Complex. And he has to be around his sister. Otherwise great!

-Azula: Azula famously got into five Ivy Leage colleges but turned them all down for Stanford. She was such a good applicant that she didn’t need to bribe the admissions offices, but she did it anyway just to see if she could. How she hasn’t been expelled for harassing other children is beyond anyone. Constantly rubs her college admissions success in everyone else’s faces. Literally, college is her LIFE - she’s been plotting to make herself the perfect applicant since middle school. Has probably sabotaged people’s grades to boost her class rank. Salutatorian, and will DIE mad about being beaten by Katara. Dislikes the lack of people to cause problems for in quarantine because messing with Zuko got old Very Fast. Also dislikes that she has to be around Zuko so much in the first place.

-Mai: Mai has both the middle school emo kid vibes, and the special kind of existential despair that seems to be unique to 18-year-olds. Aspires to be April Ludgate. She can’t be taken to movies anymore because she keeps ruining movies for everyone else by poking holes in their logic. She wanted to go to Yale, and Azula will never stop rubbing it in her face that she didn’t get in. Nonetheless, she can’t stand quarantine, because there’s nothing to do.

-Ty Lee: a gymnast who misses 60% of the school year because she’s training or traveling to competitions. Cried for a week straight when quarantine starter both because she missed everyone and because she’s losing months of training time. Actually, that’s a lie. It was not a week. It was five.

if we're applying for a character without a set job site or location associated with them, how would you prefer we go about situating them in the city? would it be best to give you a couple different ideas of where they might work and/or live, and then a decision could be up to you if there's anything that needs to be considered first?

Hi, dear! The skeletons with UTP occupations are made to be extremely flexible to the player - you’re more than welcome to pick a job that suits whatever history or future you have in mind for your character. Think of it almost as a space for an OC! In your application, you can put a set answer if there’s a strong picture of a job/location that you see them in, but you can also list out options as you said and we can choose one when reviewing applications. If you’d like, we can always provide suggestions for potential occupations and we’d be more than happy to bounce and check ideas via DMs or asks as well. 

In short, it’s moreso about what you prefer - we want to make sure that you have the space to curate your character however you would like. Xia and I are quite open to almost anything, and we would love to see what ideas you have for the more flexible skeletons + give a home for them here at Wonderland!
