Hiii!! Ufff I don't know how to tell you that I love your take on Floyd. like some bad bad life decisions were taken (THAT SO!!! INTERESTING FOR HIM). Do you think he ever feels ashamed of himself when he looks at Branch's eyes, like "shit, this guy really believes in me" or "he doesn't even know everything I have done"? Like he has some really BIG "Love me Less by Max" vibes

They all really believe in his goodness which is worse

And OH he definitely feels so much shame and regret. I think a big part of why he fell as hard as he did was because he finally didn't have to be his brothers' mediator, and I guess at one point he forgot that he still needed to be the voice of reason for himself. His new band mates encouraging his reckless behavior didn't help. Honestly I personally think young Floyd was a very naive kid and very dependent on his older brothers but his strong empathy gave them all the impression that he was much more mature and independent than he really was...

So yeah... you can imagine that constantly partying, doing drugs and sleeping around wears someone down after a few years. I think Floyd also went gray like Branch (not for as long tho) and he broke up with the band wanting to go home badly, but he was also ashamed of showing his face after a number of years as a gray drug addict, so he kind of just ended up alone...

If we're sharing songs, I have to show you this one by Linkin Park because I think Floyd wrote it for Branch (and the rest of his family (and some parts also addressing himself)) while he was at that desperate and lonely period because I am also extremely emo

Have you ever played Stardew Valley? I think you might like it, the soundtrack is lovely, it has so much lore, and the art is very pleasing!

I've seen it getting a lot of praise left and right, but haven't played it myself. What would you say to a person who knows next to nothing about it, but is tentatively interested in giving it a try?

Heehoo Sugar humans... I haven't thought a lot abt what Sugar would actually look like as a human but uhm.. I feel like she generally prefers to look like Emmet [since he's her favorite human] but after essentially being granted permission to look however she wants, would maybe start playing around with different 'designs'.... I think she'd eventually settle on looking mostly like Ingo/Emmet but bigger + more wolfish looking to preserve a bit more energy throughout the day

Quick update on the trudging of my little novella-in-progress, The Vampyres. Info below:

After much flip-flopping and acknowledgment from the public

I’m going to go ahead with the toothiest of the book covers as the final option

I have an all-but-final draft ready to hand over to the publish and printing process! The only things left are the Foreword and Review* (*which I’m not sure on tucking inside the book versus on the cover, but we’ll see.) Depending on how many pages this takes up, I can wrap up the Table of Contents with page numbers. Here’s how it looks so far:

I’m chafing over not having the website up due to not having a bookstore link yet, so it may wind up popping up earlier than planned.

I have a draft ready to submit to the copyright office and I am only vibrating with dread over doing Something Wrong a little bit. (lying)

I won’t be doing a week-long spamathon of this or any other mini updates, just enough for the weekend. I’ll try to be better about holding up all the tiny steps taken on the to-do list like they’re Real Accomplishments. Not just to bother you guys, but to jab me further along the road.

The language part (ie the Main Actual Game) of Chants of Sennaar is very fun don't get me wrong - figuring out when a radical means person, or signifies a verb, etc etc - but the number system is absolutely fascinating

#like it's base 10; this is a language game not a maths one #but the way the numbers are written is like. this would make more sense with images but I'm in the tags now #take the number 1342. that's 1x1000 3x100 4x10 2x1 that's how we write it #instead of place columns this system uses quadrants #there is a central thick line. bottom right is units; bottom left tens; top right 100s; top left 1000s #this is a fun and compact way to write a four digit number! #but what about a 5 digit one? 6? bigger? #I don't think the game needs numbers that big but I'm going to follow this train of thought to a conclusion - just use another line+quadran #fairly normal idea- run out of space on your first one? add a second! #but where it gets fun is that means; putting it back into base 10 numerals and keeping the digit separation the same; a long number might b #grouped like: 1 4637 3427 #and if you are used to the western way of grouping digits that looks weird!
