Ha, if this isn't true idk what is! Anyone else get a "shot" of insulin upon placing a new pod? Carter does! ๐๐ผโโ๏ธ๐คท๐ผโโ๏ธ So when he went to eat last night we had to factor in some sort of insulin dose that would be given in the new site, subtract that from what dinners bolus would be and go off that. Oh, and it was almost bed time so we erred on the side of caution as always but then he also needed a bath and the warm water makes him drop quickly ๐คฆ๐ผโโ๏ธ so you tell me, oh mighty God of Insulin... ๐๐๐๐ ... Had a low of 41 and then another low at 72. Pod changed tonight to find he had a bleeder under the cannula... My husband says that's why his graph looks like this??! Dexcom was also crazy off this am... Telling us Carter was 144 when he was 89. It took 48g of apple juice to get Carter's sugar back up ๐ซ๐ซ But yeah... Most diabetics would freak at this kind of graph... But not us! A few months ago, this same chart showed us only โin range" 17% of the time. To have 56% of Carter's day be in range is nothing short of a miracle. Yep. About how our night went last night, again. Spent the day chasing high and was up twice last night treating lows. Ever tried to give a toddler glucose gel in their crib while they're sleeping? Let me fill you in- it sucks. All his blankets, pillowcase and even his hair are sticky from the drooled gel. December 2, 2017, we finally left the hospital after Carter's diagnosis 31 days prior on 11/1/17. We didn't hold his hand, because he was just shy of 7 months old and was in a stroller. But I'll never forget that feeling of leaving Boston Children's with him. I was so happy to be leaving the hospital after such a long stay but also so, SO scared and anxious thinking about how I'd manage this tiny little man's blood sugar without the constant supervision of doctors and nurses. My stressful reality as a #t1dmom. Every decision has the potential to be a life or death one without constant monitoring and checking. The same drug that I inject into my son via pump has the potential to both save his life or kill him in the wrong quantity. And for Carter, at just 15 months old, his dosing needs change about every 3 days due to his constant growth. Couldn't get Carter to sleep tonight for ANYthing. Instantly, my mind went right to omg he's got ketones or his sugar is gone whack, even though Dex says it's ok. So I go get him, test him, change his diaper just for the hell of it. Gave him some water etc etc. Put him back down after determining it was nothing medical, hand him his elephant binkie and he instantly starts screaming. I took the elephant back only to finally realized why he's screaming. Take a closer look at the elephant pacifier... He bit the top right off! I cannot WAIT to see Carter's endo tomorrow. This sh*t is crazy! The only steadiness we get is at night, but last night his typical basal ran him a little lower than we like at night (goal 150).
