Day 6: Tips for parents of a child with type 1 diabetes: 1. Explain to your child he/she has diabetes, and as they grow how to manage it. Obviously according to their age. 2. December 2, 2017, we finally left the hospital after Carter's diagnosis 31 days prior on 11/1/17. We didn't hold his hand, because he was just shy of 7 months old and was in a stroller. But I'll never forget that feeling of leaving Boston Children's with him. I was so happy to be leaving the hospital after such a long stay but also so, SO scared and anxious thinking about how I'd manage this tiny little man's blood sugar without the constant supervision of doctors and nurses.
