#mistyped intj
Text
9:08 Oct 2022, 2.08 AM
Ran out of pen and my pencil’s a no-go, so, am writing it here.
Today marks the day former INTJ (yes, shocking) discovered that he’s actually mistyped. The guess would be very easy, but still surprised me because I never thought of it before due to how reserved he appear ((I need to stop seeing based on 16p letters which says I = introvert and E = extrovert, when we as normal people can always be inclined to one or the other depending on our situations))
Funnily, I burst into tears when he was actually serious about it. Blaming my PMS for that… also, ended up having an identity crisis and looked up online for some articles regarding his newly-discovered type. It’s childish, but I couldn’t help wondering. I did some research and articles on how can ENTJ and INFP relationship would work.
“We worked, though???” -ENTJ
We laughed it off and he suggested me to make a comic about it—a good idea, hopefully I won’t be lazy.
Previously, I did realize how he’s not obsessively Ni, if you know what I mean… He uses Ni when he needs to, when it’s helpful for him, but naturally, he’ll use Te and enjoys expressing his thoughts on what would be the best and useful for others. The issue was with us always believing him as an introvert. “Letting go of that belief was liberating.”
A few hours before 12, I got ready for us to go out and look for food and some clothes. It was different than the other days, because I chose a pretty hanbok-inspired midi dress which I bought online and ironed it. Also, did a douyin makeup look, with the intention of practicing my skills for aegyosal.
We vlogged as we reach Haru Coffee—our favorite place to get Shin Ramyun. Shin Ramyun was cheaper if bought one whole pack, but making it ourselves won’t be as delicious as how Haru’s turn out. We talked more about what convinced him to be an ENTJ and I slowly come to understand his reasonings. I needed time to accept because being with him for more than a year, really sold me the idea he’s an INTJ.
We left the place and took some photos of Haru entrance. Oh, did I mention how the cafe had expanded? From being a small corner cafe, it became an actual cafe with more space, and of course, even more korean aesthetic.
We went to our comfort mall to look for his outfit. We found a 3-piece, but the price tag had no display of how much it cost. One of the blazers show their pricing at 300+ and that made us leave the store because obviously… that’s a lot of money for one blazer. Or maybe we’re just part of minimum-wage group.
We went to Dees. Or we call it Deez (not saying it, you know it). We found one shirt, and the price was okay, but the problem was we needed a 3-piece. There were no signs of the blazers matching the shirt, so we had to find another shop.
Oh, I forgot to mention, I bought an iced coffee out of impulse. Part of me regretted it because the taste of the Iced Mocha Expresso wasn’t the same as I recalled. Also, he refused to drink it because he’s cutting off ice from his diet, for his throat. That made me a little sad, because we’d always share our cold drinks, but more for me, I guess. *slurps the thick bittersweet coffee*
We bought car wipers from a hardware store and I got myself a cheap pink earphones. He watched a video on how-to and tried putting it on his parents’ car but to no avail. Decided to ask his father, he’s an ISTP and was into cars anyway.
We went to a mall next-door, which wasn’t my favorite, because of it’s fame leading to it being packed with people on weekends. We looked for the clothes again but still couldn’t find it. So we visited the prayer room. I left my phone in the car, so he lent his. After my prayer was done, I went to the toilet for my own business and once I got out of the stall, I was met by an old woman with a grey scarf. She asked me wether it was my phone that dropped. I confidently said no, even if she asked me if I’m really sure the second time.
While walking to a restaurant, I noticed how his phone wasn’t with me. I panicked and went to the toilet from earlier to find the old lady. My heartbeat was crazy, because that wasn’t my belonging, it was his and he’ll be doomed if it gets stolen.
I went into the prayer room again and saw his phone lying in front of 2 girls. I asked them first before taking that phone, just to make sure they are actually ok with it. I clicked the lock screen button and saw his wallpaper of Beastboy and Raven. Definitely his.
Relieved, I gave it back him and he said he needed to be careful when trusting me with his phone—can’t agree more. We went to have a traditional family dinner, but I felt my period was coming so I rushed to the toilet. Though, no signs of blood. Fooled again, some of PMS signs can be frustrating, but I’m used to it.
Before continuing our earlier search, we visited a bookstore. He wanted to start collecting books and have his personal library. I let him go to motivational section while I stayed in chick-lit, fiction, and all that dreamy stuff. I stumbled upon The Diary of a Girl by Anne Frank, which piqued my interest for some reason. I saw before people saying she’s INFP, but I couldn’t be so sure.
I read some of the parts and it sold me. I was quite immersed, it really was someone’s diary. Coincidentally… her birthday was same as mine. ((sounds corny, but that fact sold me as well)) You could say that I was officially emotionally attached to it that I know I needed to get it. Considered buying online as it’s always way cheaper than off a store.
I was about to go and talk with ENTJ but he was talking to someone, which I assumed a new friend. I didn’t want to disturb them so I stood at the corner and read more pages of Anne’s diary (that sounded odd and intrusive, but it’s true!) It dragged for quite some time, but I really didn’t want to bother when he’s taking that chance of making a new friend to share about books with.
After awhile, he came to me and showed me the book—12 Rules for Life by Jordan Peterson. Of course.
I asked him about his potential new friend, but he said nah, because it turned out that guy was a business-man. ENTJ actually believed he could make a new friend to share interests with, but too bad.
Then, went to an ok price retail store, but we were distracted by other cool clothes instead of what we should actually buy.
He tried out some of the clothes, and we found the perfect black sweater and blue jeans for him. We didn’t get what we came for, but at least we found some really cool clothes.
Another incident happened, we were about to go home but I needed to clear my bladder ((thanks to that coffee)). After completing my personal task, I went to ENTJ, and stopped in my tracks when he mentioned where was my bag. I scurried back to the toilet while praying to God he’d still help me. The pink handbag was still there, truly a miracle which God had blessed.
ENTJ just laughed seeing me with my unlucky handbag. “I’ll be your reminder next time, for sure.”
We went home, while summarizing our whole day. Today was planned and unplanned. We had our goals but there was no escaping the chaos, other than adapting. I’m still thankful to God…

mbti/enneagram typing for @ten-of-imps
isfp 6w7
Tumblr media
enneagram: 6w7
your tritype definitely contains 6w7. straight off the bat, the first answer you provide tells me a lot about your relationships with others. you value having a sense of security, and especially don't like being abandoned by others.
on a lesser related note, it seems very reminiscent of an enneagram 9 or 3 (which i'm not entirely surprised about, as 3-6-9 is a common triad + integration/disintegration path). the idea of abandonment combined with an attachment to "liking" or "humoring" those around you scream of enneagram 3 and 9, either in your triad or simply further supporting your 6 core.
you then go onto talk about desiring "more" in life, and having "nicer" experiences, which is why i gave you a 7 wing over 5.
the next answer you provide has a more positive outlook on the world, meaning there is a part of your tritype that relies in the harmonic triad (2-7-9).
imo this sense of optimism is still a 6w7. you explain that change is good, but uncertainty is not, which suggests that there is still an aspect where you struggle with the future. after all, the Duran/Catalan fixation for enneagram 6 is "certainty." it's also a common misconception that 6's are entirely scaredy cats, but more often than not when they take action "they can seem quite confident."
At the same time, 7's prefer "actively avoiding negativity," and 6's are still prone to denying fear. As Naranjo puts it in Character and Neurosis, "The counter-phobic denial of fear is no different in essence from the covering up of anger through excessive gentleness and control, the covering up of selfishness through excessive yielding, and other forms of compensation manifested throughout the range of characters, particularly in some of the sub-ennea-types."
this optimism/comfort may even suggest integration into enneagram 9 (again, part of the harmonic triad).
another minor reason why your wing was 7 instead of 5 is how you rationalized your emotions, particularly within the last answer. your descriptions of shame being something "we learn to feel" and relating it back to the world seem very true to the way an enneagram 7 would try to reason the emotion.
you like "researching things that sounds off or brings me fear."🧍need i say more?
MBTI: ISFP
you explain that your life is "deeply and depressingly based in sensory culture" and dreams are often unattainable in society. however, it seems like you are more disappointed in the value/impact it holds rather than sensory culture itself.
when people see objects, you want them to see meaning behind them. in this case, it's not necessarily ne/ni, as you USE these sensory experiences (se) to express your own meaning (fi).
for example, your last answer on experiencing emotions rang loud of fi-se, with the almost "poetic" descriptions. connecting these real world experiences to your own emotions seems very, very much isfp (fi-se).
Minor Details/Speculation
the tone of your answers lean both melancholic and sanguine
slight enneagram 3 in tritype: "Get to be someone I adore. Be someone who is adored."
4 wing for enneagram 3 fix (authenticity): "I ope to be seen as a person, without prejudices, without any roles I have to take up, to act as."

I'm trying to find Shibi's personality typings and I think I'm on the money with my interpretation of his character.
I think the astrological signs that were assigned to the characters were assigned for good reason so a lot of the stuff about INFJs aligning closely with information about virgo men is very validating.

I took the Mistype Indicator test, which is supposed to tell you your "real" type based on harder, more in-depth questions.
As you can see from my results, I'm still 100% Asshole.
You can take the test here:
Share your results! I'm curious as to what everyone gets.

just today I thought my mom was ESFP but turns out I got completely wrong and she's actually INTJ
I don't know how I missed it - lies I do - and my world rocked into shambles bc I swear I was right for so long and I've now accepted it, but it's weird 'cuz she does not fit posts and what others says about INTJ and I do know the way people see things are not they way things are but I just-
yeah, it's weird.
I still have questions in how does this came to be but it really seems she fits INTJ, surprisingly.

the end of an era
I wanted to thank you all, not only for all the notes of gratitude, encouragement, etc., in my inbox, but for being my faithful readers over the last ten years as I blundered around, answering asks, figuring things out on the fly, mistyping myself half a dozen times, and learning by “answering.” It’s been an incredible blessing for me to be part of your lives, and now, I hope, I have left behind enough of a resource, through my thousands of answered questions, my MBTI book, and my ongoing FunkyMBTI Blog, that you can be guided to your type and start the journey of self-development.
I want to say a few more things, but first, I’ll answer the burning questions that I know are going through your mind directly.
Tumblr media
Does this mean no more character typings? No, it does not. I will continue updating FunkyMbti.com for the indefinite future, and those posts will automatically be ported over to this tumblr page, along with posts from Sixy Pixie (which I may expand to include general Enneagram posts/information/insights).
All it means is I am retiring from answering typing questions. I will still be active in various online communities, doing research, gathering information, and sharing it on my blogs. My interest in MBTI has waned since writing my book (which I consider the “achievement” of over a decade of work/research/learning), so the best way I know of is to move forward.
Does this mean I can’t request characters anymore? No, it does not. You can always contact me through FunkyMBTI.com’s contact page to make character requests. I have an ongoing list of characters people would like to see, and I hope to get around to most of them. (Such as, people want to see The OC, The Scream movies, and more Hollywood icons, such as Natalie Wood). I also have Sanditon, more Shadow and Bone typings, etc., coming.
How can I know about your Enneagram book and/or other books? Thank you for asking! You can either stay tuned here, since any announcement posts on my blog will update here, or you can join my mailing list to receive all my updates (of reviews, upcoming books, free book giveaways, and more).
Are you going to delete Funky on tumblr? No, it will stay up as long as tumblr survives, not only as a monument to my zillion hours of work, but to the thousands of people who braved the internet to ask me questions and allowed me to showcase my “Big Sister Energy.” Ha, ha. Seriously, though, I appreciate all the questions, comments, compliments, and submissions over the years, including the gigantic assortment of characters from shows/movies I may never watch.
What now? I will stock the queue for a few months and take time off, and then hopefully dig more into the Enneagram, since I think that has real potential to change people’s lives for the better.
Tumblr media
Final Thoughts:
It seems fitting that I close “the end of an era” (as my ENFJ friend put it, when she heard about this) as I approach the end of a “decade” in my life, and a big “0” birthday. I can’t exactly recall how my journey started. I think I took one of those MBTI quizzes, shared by a friend on some social media website, got mistyped as an INTJ, and fell down a rabbit hole that took over my life for over a decade. I went through every possible type known to man (other than SP), and can now finally claim with authority to be an ENFP.
I made all the mistakes you are going to make, if you are just starting out on this journey of self-awareness – I listened to the wrong people, I took in the wrong information, I mistyped myself and others, I had to unlearn everything that made no sense, but along the way, I learned how to introspect and be present with myself. To pay attention to what I am doing, and why I am doing it, and that is the most valuable take-away from this experience. You can either go through life oblivious to your true self, or you can go through life friends with yourself, and aware of both your strengths and your weaknesses. I recommend the latter. It's hard but worth it.
Doing that for so long, getting used to being “wrong,” prepared me to read my first book on the Enneagram. And it changed my life. I knew I was a 6, that there was nothing “wrong” with me, that other people struggled with the same things I did. And my introspection started growing deeper. There were many ego battles along the way, denial of the aspects of 6 profiles that I didn’t want to admit to, followed by resignation and self-awareness (that I do that too, and it’s revolting!). But it’s a journey that I intend to walk on, for the rest of my life, and I’m glad to know these things. I wish I had known them sooner. I would have been a much better friend.
All of my current friends came to me through Funky. My friends in Sweden and Tennessee and Idaho and India and Philadelphia and Florida and Spain and Greece. I would not know them, had they not reached out to me, asked me a question, asked if we could e-mail, or helped me figure something out. Funky has been my “social” life for a decade. Some of them are still with me, even though one of them is not – Maddie, my beloved ENTP co mod, my zany, nutty, wild-hearted 793 “DJ” who could simultaneously make me laugh until I cried and drive me insane with frustration, passed away of a heart attack during the pandemic in 2021. One minute she was in my life, and the next she was gone forever. I never told you at the time, but it seems a fitting end to my time here, to pay homage to a friend I hope to meet one day “in person” in whatever comes after this. So Maddie, thank you for everything you put into this blog with me, thank you for the hours of fun and laughter, for the many hundreds of posts that will stand as a testament to your memory. I miss you. And I hope wherever you are, you are doing something crazy.
Thank you, dear reader, for coming with me on this journey. I know we shall meet again.
XOXO, Charity / ENFP Mod / Big Sister Energy

My Thoughts on Popular Personality Websites
Inspired by conversations happening in the comment section of this post (shout out to @istj-mbti and @flayedsheep )
16 Personalities
Ah, 16 personalities, the enemy of the MBTI community… I’m joking… kind of. In all seriousness though, 16 personalities is really more similar to the Big Five personality types, than it is to MBTI. It can be a great tool… just not for understanding MBTI.
If you take it, you might get an accurate type, but more often than not… you won’t. I’m an INTP, and for the longest time, I always got INFP or INFJ on this test. My ISFP friend and ENFP friend both got INFP, and my INTJ friend has gotten variations, from INFJ, INTP to his actual type.
It has a big intuitive bias, and even though most of the MBTI community rejects this website, I definitely feel like this website is responsible for the intuitive bias present in the community. The biggest flaw however, is the disregard for cognitive functions.
And I get it. Cognitive functions are complicated and not everyone wants to sit down and learn the cognitive functions, and they really wanted to market this test for general audiences
I do think that alot of people who get into MBTI, start with this test, because it is so universally used in schools and jobs and stuff.
Tumblr media
Personality Database
I have mixed opinions on PDB. Hypothetically, it’s a great place for discussions, when it comes to fictional characters, but like most MBTI forums it can turn sour very quickly, and it’s filled with people that have varied understanding of MBTI or enneagram.
Like, you’ll have a lot of adults who have been into MBTI for years and have a strong understanding of all the types, you have people who are just learning what cognitive functions are, then you’ll have teenagers who have just taken the 16 personalities test.
So in general, typings on that website are very hit or miss, but it’s a really great place to start when I’m unsure about a character typing, and want to see arguments other people have. However, I really hate when people use the typings on that site as the end-all-be-all of character types.
I mean, look at this?
Tumblr media
Anna and Mirabel? ENFPs? I don’t have a super popular opinion on Anna’s typing but… ENFP?! Really? Also, how tf is Mirabel ANYTHING but an Fe user?
I agree on the consensus for Mulan though.
Sarkinova.net
I do think that out of the majority of the MBTI tests online, this one is the most accurate, because it takes cognitive functions into account. However I do have a few concerns with it, the first being its so long lol.
I know that they want to get the most in depth understanding of a person, but a lot of the times, it just feels like they are asking the same questions over and over again, but with different wording, and that can make it frustrating, and a lot of the time, I don’t finish it.
Not to mention, even though this one is more accurate than most, there are always flaws with these types of test. No test will be in depth enough to understand you enough as a person to give you an accurate type. This is another test I’ve taken multiple times and have been given a different type.
Though I will give the test credit, this one has been given me my actual type before… so at least there’s that. I do think if you’re going to take a test, this one is a good one to take.
Tumblr media
MBTI Online
No judgement… but I am begging people to not pay 60 dollars for this test. You can find ones that are just as good for cheaper, or even better yet, free. This test isn’t going to give you anything any other test will.
I do know someone who spent the 60 dollars, and still got mistyped by it sooo… yeah. If you really want to take it, by all means, go ahead, I just wouldn’t.

Mistyping on MBTI
Introduction
The purpose of this post is to understand what are mistyping and how they happen. I’ll explain some of the patterns ive noticed when it comes to some of the mistypings as well as some of examples ive I personally disagree with. Please dont take any of this as a personal insult if any of these examples I give are things you've done in the past or the typings I disagree with are your own.
Case #1Misunderstanding Functions
-What I refer to by the misunderstanding of functions I mean it's the general purpose of the function and how does this function work and perceive reality. I understand that functions can be complicated and Carl Jung’s definition of Ni can be convoluted and confusing (sometimes just plain vague) however I do think that typing people/characters  needs at least allot of backing up with your knowledge of functions. Usually the misunderstanding I see with each functions comes out in these ways.
Si- Memories/Any form of previously obtained knowledge
Se-Impulsiveness and Aggression
Fi-Sensitivy and Emotionality
Fe-Caring
Ti- Thinking in any capacity
Te-Rudeness
Ne- Quirks and Quips
Ni- just knowing stuff
Tumblr media
Ex-Sasuke Uchiha (ISFP)- Sasuke is often typed as an INTJ due to his preference for Ni-Fi HOWEVER when it comes to how he perceives reality and his way to deal with conflict its pretty clear he is an Fi dom. There is this misconception of Fi=Sensitivity and Emotionality. However this couldn't  be farther from the truth. Fi is simply preferring your Core Values and desire over the other. His goal was always Fi related NOT Ni related.
Case#3 Simplification of Functions
Following the last case this is usually the more common one I see when it comes to mistyping usually people will flatten functions or just straight up default to god awful stereotypes of each type when it comes to typing them. You'll often see people “Trope Type” certain charcaters. Most of their arguments revolve around the aesthetic of the character and then their functions. Which is why those peoples typing will usually look like this.
ESXJ-Mean Girl and stuck up
ISXJ-Boring ones
ESXP-Immature,Dumb or straight up substance abuse
ISXP-Edgy
XNTP-Quips and Quirks but always the smartest
XNFJ-Kind Humanitarian
XNFP-Sentimental mess
XNTJ-Villain
Tumblr media
Ex-Naruto Uzumaki (EXFP)I know I previously typed him as an ENFP however I've been thinking of the relation of his Se-Ni throughout the show and I might change my typing. However thus far every single Se dom argument I read for Naruto reads like this “ Well he is immature” “he is impulsive and reckless” “ can't be an Ne dom because Intuitive=smart and Sensor=Dumb” sometimes they don't say this word for word but their arguments boil down to this. And I find it quite frustrating cuz those same people look at you straight in the eye and say that you're intuitive bias, even tho they are the ones defaulting to stereotypes.
Case #4 Positioning of Functions
Character development in MBTI is more complex than character development in Enneagram. Depending on the movie/tv show the character might either develop their inferior function or their tert function. Which is why understanding the position and model you are using for MBTI and be consistent using it. The position of function is important because they are what defined the person and how they approach data management. Also certain characters might have preference for their tert function rather than their aux functions. Some Characters just use their stack in a very balanced way.
Tumblr media
Ex- Sokka (ESTJ)- He is often typed as an ENTP due to his exaggerated use of Ne in the later seasons. To me at least he is an ESTJ with a preference for TeNe. Sokka never really uses NeTi in the first book. His priority came in form of TeSi (Organizing the environment with a solid metric and detailed positioning of others). His development came in the form of his Ne not Fi. To the point he ends of sticking to it in Book 2 and Book 3.
Case #4 Character Traits=/=Cognitive Preferences/Perception
Often people conflate how a character/person acts instead of how they think and proceed with conflict. MBTI isnt really a personality theory but rather and understanding of your cognitive process and preference. It's based on how you perceive reality and how you make decisions based on your dominant function. If anything enneagram would be closer to an actual personality test.
Tumblr media
Ex- Amy March (ESFP)- I took such a long time to come to this typing because similarly to Naruto people only talked about how she was an annoying immature child. However her monologue points to her stresses and how she must stick to her SeTe rather than SeFi due to how the environment is working and suppressing women in that era.
Case #5 Just making things up
This is the most common one I see when people type characters, they usually just make things up. Sometimes there isn't any contextual evidence on what they are talking about and will mostly differ to broad and vague statements that hold no wait or aren't represented in the narrative. Sometimes they'll just take things out of context and will just go with them and end up convincing people even if their argument is 95% fabricated stuff and the 5% is misunderstanding on their part.
Tumblr media
Ex-Ada Wong (IXTJ)  Ada Wong’s Ti is non existent and no one online has ever written an argument where I there is enough evidence on what they are saying. Ada isnt a person who is interested in analytical process and internal understanding. Even character development comes from XiFi not Fe. Sorry but liking Leon but not really isnt a good argument for low Fe. Her development isnt about understanding the emotional state of the other or in relation to the other but rather the self. Even OG Resident Evil its stated that she struggles with her own values and emotional state . It's almost as if their argument hinges on ISTP=Spy characters.
Case #6 Misogyny (yeah...we are going there).
Often in typology you'll notice a dichotomy between Female characters vs Male characters. You'll notice that female characters are twice as likely to get typed as Feelers even when they dont show much usage of any feeling function. Often the arguments I see its in reference to either showing the character struggling emotionally or reacting in some way to something bad happening in their life. But when male characters such as Homelander and Patrick Bateman who have multiple emotional outburst in their runs but most people type them as Te doms. While Female characters that have emotional outburst such as Asuka and Jennifer Harding (Both Te doms) both get typed as ESFP because=SeFi=angry and emotional. It often happens in cases such as Bakugo who gets typed as an ESTP but if a female character does the same thing she gets typed as an ESFP. Im not calling you a misygonist  if you typed any of this characters like this I just think that you should reconsider your typology process.
Ex-There are allot of these so I just gonna point to a few
Tumblr media
Alice Liddle (INTP) - Being typed as an INFP but very clear her struggle is between Ti-Si and understanding her Fe.
Tumblr media
Nancy Wheeler (ESTJ)- Being nice=/=Fe she has always preferred TeSi (organizing and structuring things in step by step processes) Over using Fe.
Tumblr media
Madison Montgomery (ESTP)- Her character is pure SeTi and her struggle with her Fe is shown in both S3 and S8.
Tumblr media
Yenneffer (INTJ)- NiFi reaching the ideal self is her goal also her Te is very on your face.
Part 2 will focus on the enneagram
Please dont take any of this as an attack its an analysis on things ive seen and read if you are gonna disagree please be civil.

I’m doing my own take on other personality types cos the ones I’ve seen are by analysts and I’m a diplomat
ENTP- ya’ll actually scare me sometimes but u speak your mind about… everything and your confidence is smth I look up to.
ENTJ- ya’ll are quite intelligent and know what to say in a conversation.
INTP- I love ya’ll. You have very big brain power with a very well balanced goofy brain power. Your actually very insightful and your actually very funny.
INTJ- you seem very intelligent and knowledgeable. And very well structured in your study and daily life.
ENFP- every single ENFP I’ve met is so friendly and a lil cinnamon roll. And even if they/you don’t know if their an enfp… you can just tell. But low key u guys DO kinda scare me too cos u can fuse into an infp or an entp in a matter of seconds (it’s okay… you can be an infp any time you like). Just like entp your confidence and vibrancy and joy is smth I look up to.
ENFJ- ya’ll are so heroic… well duh your the protagonist styled peeps. Classic diplomat with feelings and motivation to do what’s right for themselves and others.
INFP- this is my type and I’m not gonna be biased. We’re so bloody weird. All I gotta say. U gotta catch us on a good day and we’ll be involved in everything. Catch us on a bad day and you’ll probs feel a weird vibe. We’re either too much or too little. (P.s soo many ppl have told me they love infp’s and I wanna ask why? Like no offence to other infp’s but like I don’t get it?)
INFJ- I love you guys so much. So so nice and caring and thoughtful. You guys listen and make conversation and I feel like your so similar to infp’s (no wonder you would get mistyped so much)
ESTP- wild lil animals (idk what else soz)
ESFP- big fun friendly party animals that make me feel free like I shouldn’t have a care in the world. Your very bright and bubbly people that see the world in a different exciting light.
ISTP- ya’ll make me feel so grounded and chill and take a few steps back. “No big deal” vibes

ISTJ- very structured and observant (also I think big on perfection)
ISFJ- your the sweetest personality type ever. I love you guys u always are so thoughtful and listen and your calm and chill.
*** Pls do not get offended I was as nice as possible and hope this is kinda accurate this is only from my personal experiences with personality types and I haven’t befriended all 16 personality types (although I have met about thousands of INFP’s and another thousand ENFP’s)

This one goes out to all of my fellow former phoney INTJs. As a former mistyped INTJ, this meme was a nobrainer after seeing all of the other INTPs and ISTJs in the same boat lmao

Part II: Ok, so what are Cognitive Functions?
(Previous post: What is MBTI, the basics, and letter typing Following post: Expanding on the Functions)
The system of typology subscribed to here is the combination of Myers-Brigg's Type Indicator as well as Jung's Cognitive Functions. Everything mentioned in Part I is the first level of understanding the MBTI types, and if what follows changes your mind on which type you are, don't be too surprised. The basic dichotomies are difficult to ascribe to yourself when you are a multifaceted human being.
---
Wait! Before you begin to read on every function, try Mistype Investigator's Test. This is an opportunity for you to have your possible personality type in mind before you gain biases by reading further. I also encourage you to try it again once you finish reading (it'll be linked in Part V) to reassess with new information on every function. This isn't a requirement, but it might help you figure out your type.
---
The 8 Cognitive Functions
There are four letters (N, S, F, T) each with an extroverted or introverted component to them (e, i). This alone does not mean it makes you socially extroverted or introverted, but instead, it's a code to signify whether this function is subjective, aka internally oriented (introverted), or objective, aka externally oriented (extroverted). We'll break them down in groups.
The list: Input functions - Ne, Ni, Se, Si Output functions - Fe, Fi, Te, Ti
Note that I use the names "Input" and "Output" functions instead of their traditional names, Perceiving and Judging, respectively. This is to clear up any confusion regarding the names - you have judging functions even if you are a xxxP type, and you have perceiving functions even if you are a xxxJ type. What "perceiving" and "judging" mean in this context is how you absorb and receive information, and how you process and make decisions respectively.

How do those become a four letter type?
Every personality type is a collection of four of the above functions, two Input and two Output. Of course, every human uses all 8 functions, but some come to you more naturally and some are acquired skills that require a lot of practice or conscious effort to develop.
There are patterns to how these work. Of the functions in your stack, you can only have one of each letter. That is, you can have Se and Ni, but you can't have Se and Si. Same goes for the Outputs. One function is always paired with another as well - One extroverted function pairs with an introverted function of the opposite letter.
The four pairings are Ne and Si, Ni and Se, Fi and Te, Fe and Ti. One always counteracts and works alongside the other. It creates your inner conflict and it also produces your best work.
An INFP's stack, for example, is Fi-Ne-Si-Te. Fi and Te go together, and Ne-Si go together. An INFJ's stack is Ni-Fe-Ti-Se. Ni and Se go together, and Fe and Ti go together. Notice that two seemingly similar types (INFP and INFJ) have entirely different functions - they may appear somewhat similar, but process information and make decisions differently.
Now, Let's discuss the Stack.
There's a good chance you read all those descriptions and thought, Wow. I really related to a few of these, but those other ones did not click with me at all. What's going on? Am I untypable?
Worry not, my friend. This is where the stack steps in.
The function stack is the order of the primary four functions that make up how your psyche works. Some functions (the dominant and auxiliary) are confident. These are the ones you use to perform daily tasks. Other functions (tertiary and inferior) are shaky. These ones you find weakness or struggle with, and would likely want to strengthen. Still other functions you may have some skill with at certain times, and struggle with at other times. These are likely the ones not in your stack, but as a human being you utilize all 8 regardless. The function stack is simply made of your 2 most notable, and their 2 antitheses.
To borrow from te-rri-fi-c of how stacks work, here's the airplane analogy they used:
Tumblr media
(totally encourage you to read more on loops and grips only once you've understood everything else. it can get messy otherwise.)
First, your dominant function is the default, or the hero. This function is how you naturally deal with things. It'll likely be one of the first you identify as "this is me!". It's how you live when not under extreme stress. It'll also be your greatest strength, so you might even mention its traits when asked what you're best at. When you come across a problem that doesn't cause extreme stress, this is the function that swoops in and saves the day.
Second, your auxiliary function is the assistant, or the parent. This function is the one you use like a tool, the right hand man to your dominant function. You'll probably read that one and go "I'm pretty good at that one!" It'll often seem like it guides you through life, as the "parent" moniker suggests. This is often the function you'll use when stretching out of your comfort zone, to navigate your situation.
Next, your tertiary function is the troublemaker, or the child. This function is often something you aren't as consciously aware of being a trait, and it may manifest as a weakness or something you haven't practiced too much. This is one you're most likely to say "yeah... I don't exactly do this well but I can see how it interferes in my life". It'll frequently be the function you want to indulge when stressed, and allow it to relax and grow in it's own time.
Lastly, your inferior function is the ideal, or the aspirational. Like tertiary, you'll struggle with this one the most. You'll likely be able to trace this function to your faults or failures in life. But it's often something you'll read and think "man, I wish I could be more like this! I could be much more successful/well liked/better at life!" This function can even feel like your polar opposite, something you don't think you could possibly relate to.
To summarize...
There are 8 cognitive functions, 4 Input ones and 4 Output ones
In those Input and Output groups, there's 2 Subjective and 2 Objective functions.
Input functions relate to how you absorb and receive information. Output functions relate to how you process and make decisions.
Subjective functions are oriented towards the internal self, and Objective functions are oriented towards the external world.
Every personality type has two Input and two Output functions in their primary stack, amounting to a pattern of alternating Subjective and Objective functions.
The stack consists of four functions, your Dominant, Auxiliary, Tertiary, and Inferior. The first two are ones you're skilled at, and the last two are the ones you might struggle with or unconsciously retreat to in times of stress or uncomfortable unfamiliarity.
The Dominant is instinctive. This is your default, and does most tasks and solving problems in your life.
The Auxiliary is more conscious. This is your assistant, and guides you to grow and succeed.
The Tertiary is mostly unconscious. This is your troublemaker, and often tries and fails to accomplish the tasks the parent does in a different way.
The Inferior is difficult to handle with ease. This is your ideal, something you aspire to be, but can also be a source of weakness or shame. It can even seem foreign to you, exactly not who you are.
