Because Karen now practically lived in C2, with how often she was leaving things in there and flirting with cute blondes, it was completely unsurprising that the news of a new student met her ears - and that they happened to be moving into C2.

The name wasn’t a common one - Popuri - and the second Karen heard it, her heart caught in her chest. Someone from home was here? Really? There was enough to be nervewracking about that alone - Karen was sure that the reason she ended up being moved here, a la the straw that broke the camel’s back - was probably known and gossiped about throughout town, and she wasn’t sure she could handle someone from home being judgmental about it. But then again, Popuri had a good heart. Maybe Karen would end up lucky there.

Karen didn’t half-ass anything, however, so she gathered herself up and jogged down the hall of her dorm building and swept inside C2 without knocking - surely Pete and Selphy would understand - and she was so enthusiastic about it that the door slammed against the wall loudly. “Popu-fuckin-ri!” Karen sang out with a bright smile. “How the hell are ya?!”

The second that Vishnal heard there was to be a new decorator at Sweet Spot, he gathered himself up in preparation to train them. Sure, he took far too long overworking cakes and cupcakes and cookies sometimes, but the customers never complained about the quality they received, so who was there to stop him from taking a full minute to make sure a single flower was perfectly crafted?

He laid out every tool he’d ever used - even the ones he’d only used once on more specialty goods - and stood back, surveying them, making sure that he had everything set up. There was a sample cake, a sample cupcake, and a sample cookie, all waiting to be painted in delicate touches.

Who knows? Maybe they’ll surpass me in skill!

He turned his head when someone walked into the break area, and he beamed. “Hello! You must be the new girl. I’m Vishnal! It’s nice to meet you!”
