My first contribution to Mermay! Everyone who knows me knows I’ll never get enough in terms of shipping, so enjoy this odd image of Node and Bless sharing a heart. I have more details concerning their mermobian AU, but I don’t want this post to get too long, so enjoy~.

Little mermaid au- old art but might as well share my rouge design

She managed to get herself stuck as Maria and Shadow’s babysitter as penance for being caught trying to steal the crown jewels.

It’d be easy the king said, she’d barely have to do anything the king said. On the day Rouge starts babysitting she finds their treasure trove and she realises she her work out for her.

She said that she’d tell King Gerald… but she was willing to ‘accidentally’ omit their little collection if they found some shiny treasure and slipped some of it to her~

So… i made a little mermaid au for comedy reasons

In short summary:

Maria loves to research humans but Shadow isn’t into it but he’s still supportive, Sonic is prince Eric and Shadow only saved him cuz his sister begged him to, Gerald finds out about Maria’s collection and destroys it, Shadow goes to the sea witch to get legs and retrieve human items from the land to make things up to Maria for accidentally leading Gerald to them, Maria stops Shadow before he signs and states that she’s going to go with him so they both get legs and have a year for one of them to receive true love’s kiss from the prince or else they become robotisized

Shenanigans ensue

Luckily for Sonic, Shadow is quite adept at kicking things in the head.

How did Shadow find Sonic in the town? You'd think Starline would try to keep the place sectioned off from the general populace, but he has been shown to overlook things just like his idol.

it is! it's an extremely isolated place in the middle of a mountain range, near the top of the tallest peak. and there aren't any "roads" that lead in or out due to the rocky terrain and frequent cliffs. maybe one person goes out for supplies once a month, but that'd probably be it. they're pretty self-sufficient up there.

what i'd imagined happened is starline forgot about that once-a-month supply run when he started making "tweaks" to the townsfolk. cuz he made it so no one wanted to leave, right? so when the town's runner never showed up, the person who was supposed to give them supplies got worried. are they all right up there? did something bad happen?

scaling a mountain is no easy task, though. the weather can change on a dime and if you're caught in a snow squall, you're basically dead. so the supply guy wasn't able to do much about it other than maybe report the absence, which would've been logged in the government's database.

and that irregularity is all it took. when shadow asked rouge if she had any leads, she would've said no, but then maybe she would've bitched about how she had to go check on this town out in the boonies to make sure everyone hadn't died of the plague or something. and shadow would've been like

hm.

Little mermaid au- Maria’s design!

She’s very interested in land folk artefacts and loves to collect and study them, much to her grandfather’s chagrin. Her illness can make gathering artefacts difficult at tines but she’s determined all the same and Shadow is a big help to her in those cases even though he doesn’t get the appeal of land folk.
