the obvious double standard with which we as a society treat amab nonbinary people and trans women who don't fit the level of feminity that they're expected to is actually disgusting.

#I see it every day in the way my gm (and closest friend at work) is constantly misgendered without anyone apologizing #but everyone uses the correct pronouns for me and quickly corrects themselves if they mess up. #I see it in the way my nonbinary dad #couldn't be friends with women in our old homeschool group #without rumors being constantly spread that they were just trying to get in the women's pants. #I see it in the way my mom was disgusted and disturbed by discovering my dad's early forays into crossdressing #but is proud of me for being my authentic self. #I see it in the way my dad is still scared to wear a skirt despite frequently expressing a desire to #for fear of being seen as “an ugly man in a dress". #I see it in the way my theatre director is constantly called they or he despite clearly having she/her pronouns on her email. #I see it in the way my mom refuses to use the correct pronouns for my dad even though they are out to her #and constantly “forgets” my gm's pronouns even though I've used they/them for them for months. #deep down I know if I was born with a penis my mom would think of my transness much differently. #when “women” embrace masculinity they are seen as empowered at best and at worst as victims of the patriarchy. #confused little girls who don't know any better. #when “men” embrace feminity they are seen as predators. traps. manipulative freaks. #I see it every day. It's so deeply ingrained in our society it seems like there's no escaping it.

#seabirds.txt #seabirds.art #mystery twins #gemeos do misterio #q!bagi #q!cellbit #qsmp #i did research 1920s era clothing for this but i based a lot of it off of their mc skins. #cellbit is a sailor turned vampire who ended up in europe during wwi after fighting naval battles at sea and never came home #bagi becomes a journalist to find him and stumbles across vampires along the way not realizing he had become a vampire too #design notes: this all started off of bagi's newsboy cap which was popular in the 1920s with working men. i put her in men's pants because #wanted to give this energy of working a job traditionally not worked by women at the time. <- women started campaigning to work as #journalists notably around the late 1800s and early 1900s (at least in the us and some european countries (couldnt find info on brazil)) #i was thinking of nellie bly when thinking of what bagi would be doing in this au! she also has a bandana to hide her neck where her vampir #bite would be and a hanky for blood clean up. perhaps something from home. cellbit is not concerned with hiding his own neck. he's just #wearing a dress shirt LOL. i feel like cellbit would be fully embracing his vampiric tendencies at this point and a part of more vampire #society than human while for bagi it would be the other way around (she's still looking for him in the human world using vampire resources) #that is why he is so bloodstained. i feel like in his free time he would be freelancing detective work for other vampires maybe to gather u #favors or something similar. he's a little bit fancy because of this but still casual enough that there's no suit involved.

steddyhands where Stede wants to dress Izzy up in fancy clothing because Edward got to and he doesnt want Izzy to think he is just second place to Ed or less deserving somehow. Stede is so focused on being fair that he bulldozes right over the fact that Izzy, unlike Ed, Does Not want to put on layers of fancy fussy clothing. But he does it anyway because its what Stede wants and because Ed gives Izzy a Look and a nudge with his elbow and Izzy knows if he keeps trying to object, Edward will pull a dick move and say something like “mate, you stabbed the guy in the gut. the least you can do is put on a frilly cravat for one evening”. 

But when he steps into the captains’ cabin in a velvet coat, lace at his throat and cuffs, heeled shoes, and stockings of such expensive delicate fabric they are practically sheer enough to show the tattoos on Izzy’s calves, Izzy doesnt even get the chance to growl and grumble and scoff about how stupid he feels in this shit because immediately Stede is like. 

“Oh, that won’t do at all, will it?” while making an expression like he just got slapped in the face with a dead fish

And Izzy, having heard Edward talk about the “you wear fine things well” compliment being the moment he fell in love with Stede, is thinking he fucked up somehow. That he doesnt wear fine things well and Stede regrets every letting Izzy even touch any of it and maybe Stede wont want him the way he wants Edward because he’s not fucking fancy enou-

“Darling, go put your leathers back on. You look so uncomfortable.”

And when Izzy gives Stede the fancy gear back he mumbles something like an apology about them not suiting him like they suit Edward and Stede gets that little furrow in his brow.
