Most of the time! Sometimes it takes a while because busy + tired, but I enjoy it when other authors respond to my comments, so I want to respond other people's comments. :)

6. What’s the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending?

Probably Threadbare. Wouldn't say it's a full-on angsty ending, because I tend to go for angsty beginnings/middles and happy endings, but it's the closest I've got.

7. What’s the fic you wrote with the happiest ending?

Whispers From Tomorrow, by virtue of it being a pre-Order-66 fix-it.

8. Do you get hate on your fic?

I've gotten a little. You know how FFN can be. There was this one kinda funny one instance where somebody was silent for like 20 chapters, and then absolutely flipped their lid in a comment after I killed off a character. Not even a main character! Oops....

9. Do you write smut?

Nope.

10. Do you write crossovers?

Not as a rule, but I did start scribbling down this weird idea for Anne Shirley, from Anne of Green Gables, ending up in the GFFA during the Clone Wars via some witchery in the Haunted Wood. What gets me is how I told my brother about it, and he promptly started nagging me to write it because he wants to read it XD

Meh, not really a big shipper.

WIP I will never finish? What are you talking about?

There are no unfinished WIPS in Ba Sing Se.

Seriously, though, probably my Padmé ROTS time loop fic. I had this idea for Padmé to keep looping back to some point in ROTS after she dies. I love the idea, it's roughly outlined and I've written some snippets, and there's this one scene that I'd really like to include, but I'm just not sure how to make the time loop AU work in this scenario.

16. What’s your writing strengths?

Grammar, usage, and mechanics. And maybe angst, oddly enough. Never figured myself for an angst writer, but then I started writing Fortune's Rule, and here we are.

17. What’s your writing weaknesses?

Speed. I write slowly. I also tend to end up going down research rabbit holes that suck up my time and energy. And I have a really hard time saying no to adding more characters, which adds to the whole writing-takes-a-long-time thing.

18. Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language for a fic?

Sure! I've enjoyed putting little bits of Mando'a and Huttese into Fortune's Rule.

19. First fandom you wrote for?

Calico Captive, by Elizabeth George Speare, when I was in my early teens. Never managed to get a whole fic out of it, and what fragments I did write were terribly underdeveloped, sentimental, and shallow. But we all have to start somewhere!

20. Favourite fic you’ve ever written?

Fortune's Rule, all the way! I know it's not finished yet, but it is my precious and my problem child, and I love it to bits!

In a way, it's a very self-indulgent story, because it's got all the tropes I most adore, and it's like a puzzle, trying to figure out how to put all these different elements together in a way that's believable, and how to have characters develop to where I want them to be.

Plus, it's also given me some fun surprises, like Padmé and Ahsoka being besties, Ventress becoming Obi-Wan's confidant for a certain matter, and Piett becoming a friend/confidant/emotional support admiral for Starkiller.

And there's so much more fun stuff planned, especially as we're getting close the start of an arc I've been planning since before I started posting the fic in 2021! (There will be child hijinks. There will be pirates. There will be sand, and angst and fluff galore. And I am so kriffing excited.)

The last person you kissed treat you right? Nah.

Would you be shocked if the last person you had feelings for texted you? I’m not interested in anyone; haven’t been in a while.

Is this upcoming year going to be a good one for you? Ugh, I dunno...I feel like 2021 was already such a peak. It’s scary to place high expectations for the next year because it’d obviously be a bummer if it ends up sucking. I can only hope it would be even just as halfway decent as this year.

What if you had a baby with the last person you texted? Biological impossibility aside, it would cause such a stir in the office, I presume. It would also be a big mistake, considering I don’t feel anything towards her and so I’m just not sure how large my commitment would be to the new life being formed.

Who knows your biggest secrets? Well most of them are with Gabie, unfortunately. Thankfully she forgets easily so I hope she doesn’t remember most of them anymore.

Do you care if people hate you for no reason? I care in the sense that I would find it laughable.

Are you in a good mood? Um I think I’m just neutral today. I recklessly took three cups of coffee yesterday and I’m still recovering from what feels like the world’s worst hangover, but I also like that it’s the weekend...idk, there are many elements that are either good or bad that make up my mood today, so I think overall I’m just meh hahaha.

Were you single on your last birthday? Yes.

Does it bother you when people respond with one word texts? Not really, unless it’s meant to be a response that warrants more than one word.

Have you ever ran from your own parents? I had plans to run away before, but until now I can’t actually tell if my feelings then were genuine or if it had just been an angsty puberty lashing-out thing.

Are you afraid of clowns? No. Is there someone you are dying to see? Any of my friends.

You just won $100,000, what’s the first thing you would buy? A new phone because the LCD on mine is B U S T E D as fuck.

Are you currently looking forward to anything? Getting my next paycheck lol. I allotted most of my last salary for other people – three birthdays (Angela’s, my mom’s, my sister’s – why are there so many Virgos?!?! Hahaha) and chipping in to help my dad for an unexpected plumbing issue that came up at home – so nearly none of it was left for me. Fortunately the rest of the month will be far calmer so I don’t intend on touching my next pay lmao. Is your hair long enough to put in a ponytail? Yes. I always want it to be long enough to be tied in a ponytail.

Is love worth fighting for? Yeah, I still believe so. The last time I did, it was just for the wrong person.

Is there anyone you wish you could be spending time with right now? I want to be with Angela, Reena, and Hans so we can watch the entire Memories of 2020 together :( I’ve been watching it by myself so far (I was the only one in our group who bought a copy lol) and it’s just not as big of a blast.

Will this Friday be a good one? I’m not sure yet but I know for a fact I’ll still be relieved since it will be a Friday...

Could you picture yourself getting married and having kids? Yeah but the image gets blurrier as the days go by.

What is your current mood? Dizzy from my coffee overconsumption; annoyed because I have OT work to do today; calm thanks to the cold and cloudy weather.

Who last poked you on Facebook? Is that still a feature? I genuinely have no clue but I also don’t know if anyone ever did poke me. I was extremely introverted back then and wouldn’t have been a target for poking.

What did you fall asleep thinking about last night? I went to bed with the biggest headache in the history of headaches and with a nagging desire to try throwing up from the three cups of coffee I took, so I was actually feeling extremely worried as I was trying to turn in hahaha. I had the worst scenarios in my head.

Who is someone who puts up with you no matter what? Angela. I actually just thanked her for it yesterday, since I was feeling emotional with the one-year mark of my breakup coming up.

Last person to call you? A delivery rider asking for directions to my house, as always.

Were you happy when you woke up today? Not really. I was just nauseous.

When was the last time you cried? Last night. I was in the middle of a weekend work meeting over Zoom and...idk, a bunch of emotions dropped down on me all over a sudden as I was reflecting on the breakup. I could hardly concentrate on the meeting and I’m pretty sure I was on the brink of a panic attack, but thankfully both my cam and mic were turned off. I just let myself cry. I was feeling every emotion at once, I think is what happened.

Can you honestly say you’re okay right now? Yes.

What are you planning on doing after this? I wanna look for another survey to take.

Will tomorrow be better than today? No, because tomorrow will be Monday, and I’m never excited about that.

How is your hair? Funny you brought this up...I was playing with my hair while we were streaming mass awhile ago, and I plucked my first-ever white strand of hair :( Needless to say I’m freaking out and feeling existential about it lmao.

A Letter I’d never send

Hi,

How are you...?

So, apparently I do not know how to start writing the most awkward letter in the world. Then again, I won’t be sending this out so that probably really doesn’t matter.

Got strongly reminded by you today, it made me wonder if the void that’s deep down in me, can ever go away. Maybe, when our paths would cross again, I can courageously tell myself that it no longer make me feel affected and you can look at my eyes and we can speak normally again. Just like old times, right?

Typing these well up my eyes again because it’s naive. Just unsure which is more naive - thinking that we will ever meet again or the one part of pathetic me thinking that I’d be okay eventually.

But me being me, I can’t stop overthinking even it’s probably not appropriate for me to do so now at this moment when I am in my first property class, attending a 3 hours lecture which is a complete bore with the super dry technical terms that is just meh. If you were here, you would question me if this was necessary. Probably convince me to pay you instead to impart me knowledge that is actually useful. Yeah, it’s pretty much unnecessary judging the fact that it’s not a career path for me and I am doing it just to seek some kind of learning fulfilment. After that, what else right? Not like as if I could impress you.

Many people in life are definitely unnecessary. Just like me in yours. Which btw, sucks and hurts to the max. These negative feelings and overthinking I have, so unnecessary but still can’t stop to ponder if I still cross your mind, once in awhile.

Do you think if I could have another minute to be by your side again? Maybe, you could still remember the better me, maybe I could put up the cheerful facade again. Just that one more minute of a light -hearted conversation, perhaps it could lead to a more heartfelt conversation and I get another minute. And another prolonged minute till it never ends.

But, that’s not quite possible isn’t it? Because you would be able to see through me, you always do. The problem is, time is irreversible and I know all the wrongs with my empty hopes and wishes. It’s like I could impress the whole world, but never you. And that shouldn’t matter, but it does. It breaks a part of my heart, reminding things can never ever go back again.

Surely, when tomorrow comes, I’d temporarily forget everything and would be okay again. I’d avoid those old haunting memories and fine again. But I know deep down, I still have this hope that we will cross paths again. Hopefully, by then I’d be able to love myself more to not be self-destructing.

30 Day Monster Challenge 2 - Day #23: Favorite Bad Movie Monster

Alright, so most of these movies aren’t really all that bad; they’re just kind of ‘meh’. But they would have been a lot worse without these cool and/or goofy monsters.

1.       Jabberwocky (Alice in Wonderland 2010)

I am prepared to disclose that Tim Burton’s Alice in Wonderland was not horrible, but 60% of that opinion stems from the Jabberwocky. (The remaining 40%is 30% the other monster designs and 10% lesbian subtext.) The Jabberwocky has always been my favorite part of the Alice mythos (surprise surprise), and not to sound petty, but I have dropped Alice movies just for not including the brilling beast. Burton’s Jabberwocky might not be my favorite, but it has a lot going for it. The way they treat it is basically as Wonderland’s Tarrasque; a living WMD, a legendary kaiju, the ur-monster in a world teeming with dangerous and crazy creatures. The way it wakes up is even a direct nod to Chernabog from Fantasia; they are literally equating this thing to the Devil.

Second off; Christopher Lee.

Finally, when the Jabberwocky meets Alice to fight, he says this thing about meeting his ‘old foe’, ‘the vorpal one’, in battle again. It is made explicitly clear that he is talking about the vorpal blade, not Alice. And that just… I don’t want to say that that changes the entire movie, but yeah, it kind of does. The implications here are that the vorpal blade and the Jabberwocky have fought each other countless time before in the past. The history of Wonderland is just the history of a dragon and a magic sword fighting. Is the vorpal blade sentient? How many times have these two fought? This kind of transforms everything about the setting the movie has established for the last hour and a half. It’s just so filled with so much potential to me.

2.       Torgo (Manos: The Hands of Fate)

Y’know, when you’re in a dark place, you have to find your own light. A source of motivation, something you can cling to to pull you through to the other side. Maybe that’s a dream, a goal at the end of the tunnel, or maybe it’s a hero, someone you can look up to. I’m not saying that Torgo is a hero, but he inspires me. There are weeks at work where I just don’t want to get out of bed in the morning. I come home at night to an empty room and fall asleep alone. It gets hard, is what I’m saying. But you know who never stopped trying, even though he hated his job and was lonely too?

Torgo. That’s who.

Everyday Torgo gets up, throws on his blazer and hat, and he goes out there and busses a haunted motel for a boss he hates. But he does it, every day. And if Torgo can do it, you can too. So you’ve got to get out there and be the best damn lackey you can. You’ve got put in the work to make it to tomorrow. And when the good times roll in and come shining down on you, you take a minute to remember the man who helped you get here. Take a minute to remember Torgo, looking down on you from Cloud No. 9, shedding a tear.

3.       Radu (Seventh Son)

The Last Apprentice series is actually a pretty cool (and grim) series of dark fantasy/horror young adult novels, kind of like junior’s first Solomon Kane. The Seventh Son movie based on the series has piss-all to do with it, and its only redeeming features are some cool monster designs and Jeff Bridges. Of those cool monster designs, the stand-out for me is Radua aka Muslim Dragon Kratos. He’s one of our villain witches chief thugs, and is unnecessarily cool for a side-character. He’s got this whole Nosferatu Zodd code of honor thing, and wields these two chain blades and probably could have been the villain in his own movie.

Now that alone would have been a neat detail, but then he can turn into what I honestly consider one of the more interesting dragons in recent cinema. I talked before about how one archetype of dragons was of being these unholy, scavenger type wilderness monsters, and that’s kind of the vibe I get from Radu’s dragon form. It’s all lanky and feral looking. It has too many limbs, and it walks around like it doesn’t know how. It’s another unnecessarily cool design for such a generic movie, and it’s definitely worth checking out.

4.       Krakensaurus (Jack the Giant Slayer)

I don’t want to be mean and discount Jack the Giant Slayer as ‘discount Ray Harryhausen’, but thems is the breaks, as the saying goes. The movie is kind of charming in how earnestly it plays to being a 1960s fantasy movie, with princesses in pink dresses and warlocks with goatees and a rhyming leprechaun. The movies stop-motion monsters don’t really live up to industry standards, though. But I can’t sit here and lie and say that I don’t have a special fondness for the sea monster at the end. The movie’s penultimate scene sees our heroes trying to escape the warlock’s castle, so the villain summons a two-headed giant (or ettin, if you know your monsters) which looks suspiciously like one of Ray Harryhausen’s cyclopes. Trapped in a sea cave, the rhyming leprechaun trapped in a bottle (roll with it) summons a sea monster to deal with the problem.

Sometimes it’s the little things in life, like watching two weird looking monsters fight to the death. Our sea monster is a blue-green mixture of kraken and allosaurus, and I’m pretty sure its toy had more detailing than the actual moving model. When this guy showed up on the screen, six year old me was hype enough to punch through a wall. I spent the next week drawing pictures of him so I wouldn’t forget him. This movie has 100% more sea monsters and singing leprechauns than The Seventh Voyage of Sinbad, and that almost makes up for its deficit skeleton warriors.

5.       Queen of the Lair (She Creature 2001)

Stan Winston was on the helm for this little lady’s monster design, and it shows. A mermaid queen, it’s hard to tell if her monster form is her real shape or just something she can morph into. Even her basic mermaid form is pretty interesting; the split tails remind me of sirens or tritons. Her monster shape, though, is pure Stan Winston gold. There’s more than a little bit of the xenomorph queen in there, between the crest and the fangs. Someone threw it into a blender with a sea serpent and a viper fish and what comes out is the most badass mermaid to ever slink across cinema. She rips people’s heads off, her tail is covered with bone spikes, and she can sing a siren song to summon up her mermaid swarm. Oh, and psychic impregnation powers. That part’s kind of important.

6.       She Creature (She Creature 1956)

Aforementioned sea monster queen was part of a series of horror films based on old b-movies, so this is the original She Creature. Even today, this is one of my favorite designs from the 1950s. Paul Blaisdell might just be the king of B-movie monster suits, and belongs up there with Ray Harryhausen in the great monster hall of fame. The she creature looks like the sum product of an orc, a lobster, and a scorpionfish. It’s a shame you only see her in monochrome, because her color scheme is a startling mix of green and pink. What I find most fascinating is the concept that this is supposed to represent some parallel evolutionary stage of humanity. This is supposed to be a different version of Homo sapiens that never left the sea. Stan Winston’s mermaid queen is great, but I would still love to see an updated and more articulate version of this design.

7.       Vampire Spawn (Van Helsing)

This raises so many questions. So the crux of Van Helsing is that Dracula needs Frankenstein’s monster to power a force-field that will allow his swarms of vampire spawn to survive past infancy. I bet you thought vampires reproduced by biting people, right? Well, apparently they also have egg-sacs. Just, massive, Aliens style egg-sacs full of bat/human fetus monsters hungry for blood. It’s so stupid that I love it. These things are horrible and adorable; they remind me of chupacabras. I want one as a familiar, or at least statted up for a tabletop roleplaying game. Just really try to avoid thinking about the whole egg-sacs thing and all the implications that brings to vampire mythology.

8.       Emperor Tyrannus (Attack of the Super Monsters)

I don’t… I don’t think I have the strength to really get into Attack of the Super Monsters. When I watched it, liquor was involved. Describing it reads like a parody of Japanese media that involves anime, men in monster suits, and giant robots meant to sell collectible toys. But it’s real, and the realest shit ever is Emperor Tyrannus. Emperor Tyrannus is literally a giant tyrannosaurus rex who is the evil mastermind of an underground civilization of dinosaurs. The dinosaurs talk, because shut up, and Emperor Tyrannus in particular talks with a villain voice that I just can’t really convey through text. I think the closest I can get is saying that he sounds like someone doing an imitation of Brian Blessed while having a stroke. Emperor Tyrannus shoots laser beams from his eyes that mind control the other dinosaurs into being evil, and watches them fight a hermaphroditic cyborg superhero in a drill/airplane. Look, you need to see this for yourself. I’m not doing this justice. Get your friends, find the DVD, and strap in for a wild ride.

9.       Witch Tree (The Last Witch Hunter)

The Last Witch Hunter is another guilty pleasure move where Vin Diesel brings what I’m pretty sure is one of his D&D characters to a movie and somehow ropes Michael Cain and Elijah Wood into it with him. Our villains are, in a surprising twist, witches that cook up some fairly grotesque magic. One of the creatures meant to act as the witches’ guardians is a magical sentinel, and it just goes so hard and so dark for what amounts to a stick golem. It’s the fine details that make this construct stand out. The extra limbs let it move faster and have extra attacks, the jawbones around the front form a crude mouth, and the branch rib-cage makes it look like something that used to be alive instead of something that was just magically summoned. There’s so much work poured into this one monster, and it’s definitely a treat to see it at the end of the movie. Rethink your golems, kids; treat yourself better.

10.   Giant Leeches (Attack of the Giant Leeches)

I used to be pretty intensely leech-phobic when I was younger (and by younger, I mean a couple of years ago), but even then I knew the giant leeches were lame. Incredibly lame. Like, honestly kind of pathetic. I kind of like them out of a bizarre sense of pity. Giant leeches should scare me, but these guys are just goofy. A leech isn’t a hard design; it’s a tube with a sucker on each end. But I am almost convinced that the person who designed these monsters had never actually seen a leech, or possibly even a worm. But the movie still treats them with all the dignity and awe of the Creature of the Black Lagoon. There are prolonged sequences of these guys swimming underwater, floating around like hungry garbage bags. These things are not, nor were they ever, leeches; they are some kind of aquatic octopus or confused anemone. That’s why they need our love, our protection; because they’re too stupid to survive by themselves.

My 5-Star Review

I learned about the Hmong people when I took a summer class on Immigration Law during law school, when our professor assigned a book titled The Spirit Catches You and You Fall Down by Anne Fadiman. I am not a big nonfiction reader, so I went into the book feeling very meh about reading it, but it turned out to be so good that I ended up loving it. So when I saw that the main character of Lori M. Lee’s middle grade debut, Pahua, was Hmong, I was even more interested in reading it than I already had been. I absolutely loved learning more about the mythology and culture of the Hmong, and I am really hoping that this is the beginning of a series and we get to go on more exploits with Pahua and delve even deeper into these traditional stories. Rick Riordan wrote the introduction to the book, and he suggests reading the author’s note and glossary at the end of the book before starting the story, and I definitely agree. I spent quite a bit of time with the glossary before starting, trying to sound out the Hmong words and phrases, and then continued to flip back to it when needed throughout the story. I enjoy learning even bits and pieces of other languages, and I love that so much of the Hmong language was included in the story. I think it makes for such a rich reading experience!

Pahua is a great main character, and I immediately fell for her. Her personality really shines through and she is so dynamic, and I love her dry sense of humor! One thing she said at the very beginning made me laugh out loud: “Some would say I’m too old for imaginary games. But some people also like olives, so folks can be just plain wrong” (p. 8). A bit later she has another zinger as she’s trying to psych herself up: “I was a master hunter going after her greatest prey. I would be an elf assassin with perfect, deadly aim (an elf like from Lord of the Rings, NOT Elf on the Shelf, which was creep city--so glad that wasn’t a Hmong thing)” (p. 178). At the same time, Pahua’s ability to see - and talk to - spirits that no one else can see has kids at school thinking she’s weird; on top of that, she’s the only Asian kid in her class. As she says, “...being the only Asian kid in my grade already makes me an outcast. Even though I’m surrounded by a world filled with spirits, sometimes I can feel pretty lonely” (p. 9). I think there are going to be a lot of kids who identify with what Pahua feels and who will see themselves in her (even if they can’t see spirits!). I love that the Rick Riordan Presents imprint focuses on exactly these types of stories, so that MG readers either can be introduced to other cultures and mythologies or can (finally) see themselves on the page as the hero of a story.

I feel like I’m rambling because I enjoyed the story so much, so I’ll stop there. Suffice it to say, this is definitely a great read and one I want to shout to the skies about and get into the hands of readers, especially young ones. I encourage everyone to pick up this story of courage and bravery in the face of overwhelming odds, of dedication to family and culture, and of great adventure. 

Rating: 5 stars!

Raw Review 22/04/19: New Contender for Universal Title!!

Welcome to Happenabler's Raw Review of 22nd April 2019. There is a new Contender for Seth Rollins Universal Championship. And some bizarre new names and gimmicks have been introduced with Bray Wyatt. So here is the Raw Review. Triple H and Seth Rollins opens Raw Triple H comes out to open the show. While he is making his way to the ring we got informed that there are two triple threat matches tonight. The winner of both the matches will fight in the main event to determine Seth Rollins’ Money in the Bank opponent. As Triple H is still grabbing a mic Rollins also joins him in the ring. Rollins said it is still surreal to him after all he had been through. He said he has brought the title to his home state. Triple H said now the landscape has changed after the superstar Shake-up. He should be ready for his next challenger. Triple H then just repeated what we already knew about how Seth’s title contender will be determined. This brought out all the 6 superstars involved in two matches. They all said basically the same thing that they deserve the title shot. Rollins said that it doesn’t matter which one of them he faces at MITB because he is Seth Freakin’ Rollins and he is going to Burn it Down. The promos were good here. All did their best but I am not a fan of everyone coming out one by one and taking turns to speak. That feel so much scripted and staged. It was good to see the crowd super hot in the beginning, cheering and booing very loud. We will see if they can keep up by the end of the night... Segment Rating: 3/5 AJ Styles def. United States Champion Samoa Joe and Rey Mysterio This was an awesome match. I really loved the chemistry between these three. Any combination worked in the ring. Even all three of them at the same time as we saw towards the end. There were some awesome spots in the match like when Rey and Styles went over the top rope. It seemed like Rey was going for a suplex on the floor. But Joe joined them at the top and got each of them on his shoulder and tossed them down the ring. Rey had both Joe and AJ in 619 positions. He delivered the 619 on Joe and went for a springboard hurricanrana on Styles. AJ caught him and delivered a powerbomb followed by a Styles Clash, both on top of Joe. Styles pin Joe to win the match. This is the only complaint I have. In my opinion, Rey took most of those moves and he should have been the one to get pinned instead of Joe. But anyways, a heck of a match. Match Rating: 4/5 Naomi def. Billie Kay The IIconics made some jokes before the match. Their laugh at their own jokes was funnier than the jokes itself. The crowd joined in on the IICONIC moment which was good to see. The match was over in a blink. Peyton tried to interfere but Naomi takes both of them out and rolled Billie over for the win. I don’t know where they are heading with Naomi. She will just get a random partner in the Raw roster to challenge for the Tag Titles. The only good thing was IIconins’ promo before the match which always is. Match Rating: 2/5 Baron Corbin def. The Miz and Drew McIntyre Corbin and Drew teamed up for a while to beat down Miz. But Miz fought back. There was a cool spot when Drew had got Miz in a white noise position on the ropes in the corner. Corbin joined in and got Drew in a powerbomb position. This was an interesting variation of the tower of doom. At one point Miz Figure four locked in on Drew for a very long time but he didn't tap. Drew got out of the lock with a thumb to the eye. Drew delivered a Claymore from out of nowhere to Miz but before he could pin him, Corbin pushed him out to go for the cover himself. That was one way to protect Drew. Corbin got a lot of heat from the crowd. I think he is not a bad choice now. The match wasn’t that good as it's counterpart but it still was a good match. Match Rating:3.5/5 Sami Zayn Promo Sami Zayn came out to say basically the same thing he has been saying for the past two weeks. He was very happy being away from the WWE Universe. It was the best time of his life. He went on to show his Instagram photos when he was injured, traveling around the world. Zayn told everyone, he was very happy but when he got cleared to wrestle again he got depressed. It wasn’t the corporate structure or other backstage superstars. It was the “WWE Universe”. He said he will rather be in Switzerland, Sweden or Mexico rather than the depressing town of Iowa. This got the most heat from the crowd. He went on and said that they should take a trip… to Hell! This was a great promo. It dragged a little long but a great delivery by Zayn. I don't know where is it leading but we will see. Promo Rating: 3.5/5 Cesaro def. Cedric Alexander Cesaro is on Raw? Well OK. These two can really pull off a corker if given time and freedom. It was an interesting match to book as they both could have done something with a win under their belt. I hope Cesaro get a singles push on Raw and I feel the same about Cedric. Cedric didn't look weak in defeat so I have no problem with Cesaro winning here. Match Rating: 2.5/5 The Usos are backstage with Charlie Caruso. They made some jokes about Raw Tag Teams and also on the drink & drive (a shot at thier real life arrest). They were interrupted by the Revival who said the Usos were undoubtedly the best tag team on SmackDown but this is Raw and they are the top guys around here. The tag team division on Raw has some potential bit we will see if they can capitalise on this. Viking Raiders beat down Lucha House Party Yes, they are called the Viking Raiders now. But don’t worry your favorite name isn’t going anywhere cause we have got it as their finisher name. Raiders delivered the Viking Experience which is the pop-up power slam, to Kalisto in the end. I don’t know what is going on here. The Viking Raiders is much better than Viking Experience but they don’t have their NXT Tag Titles with them and they are heels in the main roster? I can’t wait to see the main roster to botch these guys. Segment Rating: 1.5/5 Becky Lynch vs Alicia Fox Before the match, Becky cut a promo saying she has beaten some blondes who are favored backstage. Evans came out to teach Becky some lessons. They basically said they will beat each other up. Nothing sort of note here I thought it was going to be a squash match but Alicia Fox got a lot of offense in here. This dragged on for too long. Becky made Fox tap out to win. But as the Dis-Arm-Her was still in Lacy Evans came from no where to deliver a Woman’s Right to Becky and followed it with another one to keep her laying in the ring. Meh. Segment Rating: 2/5 Ricochet vs Robert Roode They changed Bobby Roode’s name to Robert Roode. It’s a little odd to suddenly change someone’s name but no major problems here. But there were problems when they didn't give any explanation to why he did it. There was a wwe.com interview with Roode but it doesn’t even mention the name thing. Names are changing without explanations here. This was another match that dragged on for too long. Roode won with the glorious DDT to Ricochet. The only talking point was the name change of Bobby Roode. Many think it is terrible but I don’t think it is that bad. I just don’t like it being changed without any explanation. Match Rating: 2/5 Fireflies Funhouse Bray Wyatt is back! And he is a loving cheerful guy who loves kids now. It was skit with him introducing his new friends, the buzzard and the witch to the kids. He said he had been a very bad guy in the past but he had left it behind. He grabbed a chainsaw and cut the cardboard picture of his previous self. This was an interesting gimmick change for Bray Wyatt. There were some shades that he might lose it at any moment. I think this has some real potential with Bray’s past haunting him down. Segment Rating: 3/5 AJ Styles def. Baron Corbin This was the weakest match of the bunch. Styles kicked out of a Deep Six. Corbin stomped Styles head on the mat to get out of the Calf Crusher. Corbin went for a top rope move but Styles moved out of the way. And delivered a phenomenal forearm to win the match. After the match, Rollins comes out to Shake hands with Styles. It will be a great match. Styles vs Rollins at MITB. Can’t wait. I really thought they may have Corbin win here with some shenanigans. And might hold off on Styles vs Rollins till summer slam. But no problems here. I just can’t wait! Match Rating: 2.5/5 Raw Review - Final Opinion Overall this was a average show. It had a great opener. A lot of talking points – new challenger being determined, some name changes, Bray Wyatt's new gimmick. But the wrestling was a little lacky after the opening match. The matches were too long. That’s what you suffer from when you have 3 hours to fill. But overall I am happy with the booking decisions and did I mention I can’t wait for Styles vs Rollins?
