A while ago I had written a Deadwood/ McLennon AU on Ao3.

Main premise of the fic evolved into an OC novel I decided to develop. Therefore I removed it and it was left incomplete.

The OC story has moved into a different direction and I'm tempted to repost and possibly finish the fic.

Would anyone be interested?

I'd have moodboards and a playlist for it too.

Does John and Pauline Still Love Each Other in your Au? Are they Still Married or are they Divorced?

They still love each other, and had gotten married rather young, starting off as partial teasing, "You'll be mine yet, miss Pauline, with a ring for your hand and a weight for my ankle" and "We'll have t'elope John, my da would drop dead just from the sight of us together like before an alter," to the two making the impulsive legal leap to tie and seal the deal when Pauline turns 18/19.

I'd say they'd go from separated, to a legal divorce, but then reconcile and reunite eventually (John must grovel, a little groveling would have been good for him) and I'd say right before or right after retying the knot, get pregnant with Mary—so, split at the beginning of 1969, and reconcile and get remarried in 1972.

@apollyodon and I typically write the two separating before Paris is even conceived, so when there's only baby Julia, but I'd say this timeline of when Pauline and John separate/divorce, and then reconcile and reunite, makes a little more sense here.

It's 2020s and John is somehow (still) allowed on Twitter. During Q&A he gets progressively more unhinged and when someone calls him a slur and mocks his "one-sided attraction" to Paul, John explodes. "What do you mean one-sided?! Paul is way more camp than I am!!" Immediately after he starts posting numerous NSFW photos/home videos of Paul in more and more compromising positions over the years that spread like a wildfire and blow up the Internet.

Queue the total PR nightmare unfolding, numerous "they better show this in biopics LMAO" tweets and Paul wishing Billy Shears was real so he could deal with this instead of him.

Ooh, interesting question. Ask ten different people and you'll get ten different answers, is my guess—and every AU picks up different parts of the John/Paul relationship, right?

That said, here are some favorites of mine:

the great motorbike chase of 1992 (flightofthebluealiens): for the 'fuck everyone else, we're out of here'/'Paris '61 re-imagined as quest for John's father'-factor.
