McDanno AU - When Love Conquers It All Chapter 7 Uploaded to AO3

TEASER:

He ran his fingers through his hair and was about to leave for the supermarket when the doorbell rang. Danny opened the door and, to his surprise, he found himself opposite Steve holding two large shopping bags in his arms.

"Mom sent me," he said with a big grin plastered across his face, "she thought you could use these." He pointed his head at the stuffed brown bags.

"Where do you want me…."

Danny didn't hear the rest. He only saw Steve and thought, "I want you in my bed. Or on the couch and then on the kitchen table."

"Hey, Danny?"

Steve's words snapped him out of his daydream, "Sorry, come on in. Best we go to the kitchen."

"A penny for your thoughts," Steve grinned, shaking his head and walking past Danny, who took a quick look outside. Just in time, he saw the curtain swing back in the house next door.

"Great," he thought.

People were still under surveillance, thanks to their nosy neighbors. Nothing had changed in all these years. Shrugging, he let the door shut.

When Danny turned around, he caught a glimpse of Steve's firm ass. Instantly his mouth watered. He even found Steve's slight limp sexy because it awakened his protective instinct. Okay, enough of these mind games. Otherwise, he would walk around with a hard-on, and that could have unexpected consequences for both of them. So he followed Steve obediently into the kitchen, trying desperately to look anywhere else but his friend's butt.

For your ask request. Aside from Shape Shifters/Werewolves, what, if any, mythical creature/supernatural being would ascribe/create out of Chin, Kono, Steve, and Danny, (or at least McDanno)?

Secondly. Just how are you, how have you been?

Feel free to be as detailed about either of these as you desire.

I think Kono would be a Teen Wolf version of a Kitsune. A water elemental one, which is why she had a very strong pull to the ocean and why as a surfer it was almost as if she walked on water. She was one with the water! This line comes from her mother, who’s own tails might have been hurt/broken by hunters which is how she became ill. Kitsunes are foxes...and Kono is a damn vixen, no one will argue that! She’s also mischievous and fun! Mischief doesn’t equal to malevolent, but never doubt how dangerous a fox can be. And because they’re cousins, is part of that kitsune family. Maybe Kono has a more direct line of succession while Chin’s is more watered down. He doesn’t have the tails and the transformation but he has the nature. That silver tongue and calming zen about him as if he were over 900 years old, that can read people and talk them into giving him the information he needs to get. And much like in mythology when the fox in a lot of folklore is seen as the villain for their cunningness...what happened to him in canon kind of reflects a bit on that. The nature of how things went down and all.... I’m inclined to give Steve the merman slot. Because of the navy and being a SEAL and his love for the water. Mythology about mermaids is different because on what you read and even mermaids around the world are different based on location. The siren-esk-ness is something I wanted to put into Steve. He’s got this musical side to him that’s sprinkled in but he’s shy about it. As would a merman living on land who knows how powerful his singing voice an be. Steve’s inner struggle might be more so my headcanon of him. Of him struggling to be out of the Navy, he’s still a soldier even if he’s out of uniform. He’s still has his rank and power, but the world he’s living in isn’t what he was used to. And if that’s not a metaphor for literally being a (merman)fish out of water then...idk what is xD! So maybe he’s a half-breed. And Doris leaving was her really having to return to the sea and leaving behind her son because maybe she didn’t want to tear him away from his home or family, and/or she knew he wouldn’t be well received in her home...and this is kinda the plot of Aquaman isn’t it? xD Sort of. But yeah, Steve being part merman/siren, being unsure where to call home. No place really feeling completely right. The Navy being the most fitting because it involved a lot of the sea, as well as letting him use any and all pent up anger he had inside of him...until he met other ‘fishes out of water’. And then, quoting Inuyasha a bit “There were two worlds and I thought I didn’t fit in either...but I did have a place. I was just the only one in it.” I’m paraphrasing but yeah. Then he met his Ohana. Danny we’re going straight demigod. I debate on making him a demigod himself or a legacy. But pulling things from canon, something that could have torn or really been a thorn in Danny’s parents marriage could be that either of them weren’t Danny’s biological parent. And because it was his mom who went to visit him, Danny’s dad being any of the gods could have been a sore point. And then it’s always fun deciding who said godly parent that is. I’ve actually made a Hawaii 5-0/Percy Jackson crossover series where he was the son of Zeus. Reason I chose the head honcho himself is because Danny carries that regal son of a King of Gods tude, but also being forced to move to Hawaii was hell for him as a parent, but imagine being forced to move to a place surrounded by your uncle’s domain....who, though chiller than your own dad, your life and the life of your kids could be at risk if your uncle’s beef with your dad takes a bad turn. Also maybe being surrounded by water affects his powers? Maybe he’s not as welcomed into the waters, which would explain Danny’s reluctance to it. Hawaiians being aggressive to Danny by instinct could be just...a vibe. They know he’s the direct child of a god that’s got nothing to do with any of their religions/pantheons and feel threatened, and that just kinda slips in with the white blonde guy with blue eyes on an island that was conquered...in the stories itself, I had that Danny had to pay proper tributes to the spirits and deities of the island as a demigod task to keep the peace between his family and the island. A lot of his work on Five Oh would help him be recognized as a hero to those in the know. Which would be another challenge to Danny. Because back east where the Greek Gods were known and common place among that ‘supernatural world’, Danny as a son of Zeus would be assumed to be a ‘hero’ automatically and deemed a good guy, but on the island that wasn’t immediately given but had to be earned. Me? I’m hanging in there. My writing comes and goes. I’ve been on tumblr but more so on my rping blog. I’ve recently just got my second dose of the vaccine and I’m waiting to hear if I might have a shot at a job. I’ve done more bread baking, and also more desserts in the Mexican culture because food’s the way I connect with my culture and heritage since I can’t easily go to Mexico(even before the pandemic). I’ve began to dabble in digital art. I’m nowhere near good but I’ve began. With practice I’ll hopefully be able to create visual works of my ships and not just written stuff! I’ve been okay! With how the world is at the moment I’m grateful for what I have and how lucky I’ve been. Thank you, friend! <3

And now... Lovers Separation...

Okay, I won't talk about the mcdanno second date in the ocean, because there's a lot of post about it but... Okay just my two cents... And also related to my point here...

- So important, Catherine had to almost interrogate Steve McGarrett over there, to get some info about where will Steve and Danny go.

- Steve saying to Danny Catherine is not my girlfriend, was so flirty, because his focus was on Danno.

- Steve trying take a pic of Danny, and his camera blatantly showing us he was just making focus on Danny, and he even asked him to smile, and Danny feeling awkward about it, because Steve was making it as if that was a real date. Just priceless.

- Steve trying to get to know him more and more, with questions, he is always asking Danny things about his past, or about what is in his bowl for lunch. Steve gravitates around Danny.

Foreshadow of the lovers separation we will have in season finale 4.

Once they arrive to the pier, they start to fight, and Chin says something like they have to take a time apart from each other. (I will take this point as a foreshadow here.)

Now... The guy that stole their boat, and then got captured by 5-0, just remember the interrogation, (again I don't have the source of the transcript of the episode, so if you can send me some link I will appreciate!).

I know the quote you remember, the one about Danny saying we do crazy things for love (with Steve watching him askance hehe), and that was a foreshadow for Afghanistan too, but... There's another quote...

The guy called himself a guardian of the law, he fell for a blonde woman, and he did what this woman asked him because Danny pointed it , "I know, she told you she loved you, right?"

Okay, I'm not talking about the lie here, but I'm talking about the way Danny asks this, is like is he were saying SHE MADE YOU FEEL YOU WERE IN HEAVEN WHEN SHE TOLD YOU SHE LOVED YOU, RIGHT?

It sounds like a mock, but I want you to caught the concept. Because we are seeing a very dummy Steve, that come and goes with his feelings about Danny, in their first date Danny told him he loves him, and they're a mess of flirtation now.

Now... Episode 3x04...

At the beginning of the episode, we had a blonde girl, again, and a guy looking like Steve.

(Sometimes I get tired of how many heterosexual mirrors writers can use to refer to our queer couple, but well... Is not new to me...)

They're with a fortune teller, inside a tent. The fortune teller says to the girl that she has a broken heart, and the guy she's dating, is immature, and doubting.

Okay, Danny has his heart broken because of Rachel, and Steve acts like a kid sometimes (ask Danny hahaha), and going between Cath and Danny shows us how was he doubting.

But then the DEATH CARD appears, and the girl asks if that card is symbolic. The fortune teller says no, but we know what that card could mean for McDanno, is another foreshadow of their separation in season 4 finale.

And... The Notebook movie

Jumping to episode 3x05, I will just say, we have a huge lovers separation foreshadow with this movie... Because it talks about two lovers that are separated because of war. (Hello Afghanistan again...)

But let me just be a sucker for McDanno... And I know you already know all of this, but...

First intromission of Danny in McGarrett's house, our SEAL was about to have sex with his no-girlfriend, so, that interruption was very, very unlucky. So Steve is anxious and mad at him.

But let's just stop with Catherine's words about watching a horror movie is the way you conquer your crush, while classically, slide your arm on your crush' back.

Steve says she wanted to do that when she made him watch The Notebook.

Have that in mind, because our second blonde intro was very, very different...

Steve was not focused on the kiss, but staring at Chucky, the movie. The excuse was he didn't watch the ending of that movie, but we will discover that wasn't the real reason. Why? Well, because when the door rings, Steve jumps out immediately from the couch to open the door.

He knew Danny and Grace will be there! He knew Danny was about to come! So he was so anxious and distracted, he couldn't think about kissing Cath. Is notorious because the way they talk, is like NOT SUPRISES. STEVE KNEW DANNY WILL COME.

Then, we have a little pissed Cath, because she noticed Steve KNEW DANNY WAS COMING. SO..M DID STEVE INVITED DANNY? TO THEIR ROMANTIC NIGHT?

So pissed!Cath is : LET'S CHANGE THE MOVIE, LET'S WATCH THE NOTEBOOK.

Cath and Steve exchange looks. Steve got the message, so he does as she says.

Not just that, but the punishment continues... She asks Gracie to sit with her. Another exchange of looks with Steve.

But Steve is more than okay, because now, he's able to sit by Danno's side, and using the excuse of The Notebook, he places his arm in Danny's back. Just classic, when you want to get close to your crush with a good movie excuse...

Danny looks at Steve's hand on his shoulder... And he goes with it. Okay, let's play our game in front of your girlfriend.

The subtext/almost text is clear. The point is clear too.

Is time for me to go, I'm sorry for the mess, and the rush, but... I just wanted to write about all of this... I will come back for sure.

The Bodyguard - Part 5

Senator Daniel Williams is facing a problem – a spate of kidnapping attempts on kids of other Senator families in his circle has him on edge.

His six-year-old son Charlie is the guiding of his life, and he’d do anything to protect him. As it turns out, though, ‘anything’ must include hiring the man he slept with and ghosted on six years ago to serve as a bodyguard.

Daniel went on a date with Steve McGarrett that was filled with chemistry, fondness and a night of passion – but the morning after, fear overtook him, and he slipped away before Steve woke up.

Charlie was more excited than Danny expected to hear that Steve was moving in. Apparently, when Danny went to take his showers, Steve suddenly turned into some kind of imaginative knight, inventing dragons and castles for the boy to conquer, and taking his crayons hostage. Danny wished he could see it. He felt bad that usually, the only person Charlie had to play with was himself.

At any rate, clearly the move had gone well. No incidents had occurred so far, thank goodness, and hopefully none ever would - but knowing that Steve was there and committed to Charlie’s safety brought Danny a lot of peace of mind. They weren’t leaving this to chance.

In the days that followed, there was very little trace of the hardness and disgruntlement that Danny had seen before. Where Steve had previously only reserved his smiles for Charlie, he was now beginning to send a few Danny’s way, too. It was encouraging to see the way he was opening back up again, no longer uncomfortable in Danny’s company - and even calling him ‘Danno’ again a few times.

Things were, without a doubt, on the up-and-up. It was the positivity that this fostered in both of them, along with the beautiful weather, that inspired them to take a trip to Liberty State Park on one particularly sunny day. They had packed Charlie’s crayons and drawing paper into a satchel along with drinks, snacks and a nice comfy blanket, and were now making their way out to try and find a decent spot before the park got too full.

A few weeks ago, the fact that they pretty much looked like a couple would have made both men feel awkward. Now, however, it didn’t seem that this was a consideration at all. In fact, with both of them holding one of Charlie’s hands as they swung him between them, making their way down to the park, describing them as a couple didn’t feel too far from the truth. They were certainly some kind of unit, even if not a familial or romantic one. It was a strange thing to put your finger on, but Danny rather liked it.

But no matter how lovely a day, it seemed there was still the potential for danger at a time like this. They had to bear that in mind - even if it was hard with all the excitable screams and faint hum of music around them.

“Here seems good,” suggested Steve, blanket and bag over his shoulder. “Maybe some shade from the trees later.”

“This is good for me,” Danny agreed. “Sure. Okay with you, Charlie?”

The boy squinted around, considering their options, before nodding. “Okay, I guess.”

“Then here we are.” Steve spread out the blanket, and they settled in for a day of serious relaxation.

After an hour or so Charlie asked for ice-cream and to go to play on the swings. Once everything was gathered together and hooked back over Steve’s shoulder, the move over to the ice-cream truck could begin – and it was in this moment of drifted concentration that things began to happen.

In one instant, everything was fine. In the next, as they approached a more secluded path, albeit not by much, they heard a scream from just in front of them, and their eyes were torn quickly forward by it.

Charlie.

Alright, let’s see what we can do! ~~~~~~~~~~~~It wasn’t a secret that Steve had issues with both of his parents, which later in life caused him more issues, mainly with trust. It also wasn’t a secret that because of that, he was very close and cared a lot about Joe. Feeling responsible for both of his father figures deaths left Steve in a very dark place. Though he’d never mention it to anyone, he was a bit surprised he had survived his revenge plot. After the dust settled and he had a moment to breathe, he didn’t really feel all that better about losing Joe. Some wounds that deep don’t fully heal, only scar. He tried his best to honor Joe’s memory and listen to some of the final things he had to say. Especially about the waiting too long thing. At first, he thought he meant Catherine. She’d been an important part of his life, and his revenge plot involved her immediately and initially because she needed to be part of it as much as Steve. He let his feelings at the time rule him and for a moment he thought that that was what Joe meant. But Cat was too much like him. So she couldn’t stay. The job came first, and the need to help and protect, and conquer the demons of the past was way stronger than their feelings for each other. They still loved each other, but...there was a bigger sense in both of them. Something that called Cat back out to battle, and something that called Steve back to Hawaii. He wasn’t sure what it was at first, but when his eyes landed on Danny waiting for him when he got home, it clicked. Boy, did it click. The moment he was back in Danny’s arms, the moment he let himself cry and grieve over the loss he just had, was the moment he had the most obvious epiphany ever. He was home. Not at the McGarrett house, but with Danny. Danny was home. Steve let himself settle for a while, get back into the old grind of the day by day. It was comforting that no matter what happened, he and Danny would just click back together. He was a bit...scared, about making his move and told himself he had time. And he did...until it was clear that some old feelings between Rachel and Danny were resurfacing. That forced his hand and it made him make the most awkward confession he’s ever had. Danny was shocked and more confused than ever. The blond couldn’t deny feelings that have always been there with Steve, but after Joe and seeing that Catherine was someone Steve had called first, he figured that was it. Danny asked Steve for some time, and Steve was happy to give it. Happy that now that Danny had this in his head, he wouldn’t do something stupid like go back to his ex just because he had a very emotional experience with Grace and thought that Steve wasn’t available. They eventually talk. They state where they are in their point of life and what they want. The damn realization that they’ve had basically the best relationship they’ve ever had already but only on a platonic level. They were ready to take it up a notch.“But I ain’t that easy, babe,” Danny told him with a soft smile.“Not even for me?” Steve asked with a smirk. “No, see for that, you’re not even getting a goodnight kiss. You want me, you’re gonna have to woo me.”“Woo you?” Steve echoed, obvious happiness radiating off of him. Danny hadn’t rejected him. He’d risked everything because if he couldn’t have Danny as a lover, having him as a partner was the next best thing. He and the kids were his family too. If he had messed that up, Steve really didn’t want to think about the dark shit hole he’d be in. “Yeah, woo. Meaning you’re taking me out to eat, you’re gonna be gentlemanly, and you’re gonna pay.” Danny said, counting the things with his fingers.“If I’m wooing you then that means I’m also driving you, so no more complaining about that.” Steve countered.Danny rolled his eyes, “Babe, by now I think you know that I’d follow you anywhere...with mild complaining. Get used to it.”Steve smiled and reached out to grab Danny’s hand and interlock their fingers, “I plan to.” ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~Due to them knowing each other for nearly a decade in what could be argued as the longest and healthiest of their relationships, taking it to another level was both simple and complicated. It was all there, they just now had the liberty to act on certain feelings they had to repress before. And once that was a liberty they loved to take, one weekend they disappeared completely and came back Monday morning to zero tension. Needless to say, a lot of money was exchanged as their newfound relationship was confirmed. Grace was very happy for them, which is something Steve thanks God for every day. “You sure you’re okay with this?” Steve asked her once when they were out shopping together. She rolled her eyes playfully. “More than okay. Heck, for a while when I was younger, I thought you were...”Steve looked at her with a raised eyebrow. She shrugged, “Danno wouldn’t talk about anything else but you and when mom tried to say something bad, he’d defend you...it was Danno’s way of loving you, ya know.”Steve nodded and then asked, “I don’t wanna be the evil stepmother in this. You and I have always gotten along but it is different now. And I know that after your accident maybe you...you might have hoped that...”“That mom and Danno would get back together?” She asked and Steve nodded. “I think any kid with divorced parents thinks that at some point but...not me. I’ve lived through their divorce once. I was little so I didn’t always understand everything...but I knew that Danno was angry at some of my mom’s choices and I know he loved me more than anything. He gave up his whole world to come to be with me...I want someone for him who’d do the same. And that’s you.”Steve hugged Grace tightly. When they pulled away he promised her, “I love him. And I will prove to him, and you and the whole damn world that he is the one for me.”Grace smiled, “I know.” Then she got serious and jabbed him in his chest, “Because if you ever hurt Danno...you’ll be sorry.”Steve chuckled, but saluted her in a soldier way, “You got it, Monkey.” It was the first time he’s openly called her Danny’s nickname for her, and it seemed natural. She didn’t correct him at least. This...this is how it’s meant to be. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~Living on an island for as long as he has, Steve knows that as much of a paradise it can be, when a storm brews, it can be disastrous. A few months later, he receives a call from Catherine, asking him to meet. He feels like something is immediately wrong because she’s never had to ask him to meet like this. He was pretty sure they were both in a clear understanding of how things were left off. Or so he’d hoped. He dreaded to think he’d have to break her heart or any hopes. But he was with Danny now. And he was deliriously happy. They meet and Steve immediately sees what this might be about. He does the math in his head and it fits. “We used a condom.” Were the first words out of his mouth.“Which only guarantees 97%...I’m sure you’ve seen FRIENDS,” Catherine replied. Steve is dumbstruck with the information to make any sort of witty reply. Worry and fear build up inside of him and all he could think about was Danny’s reaction. “Steve?”“I...I’m with Danny...I...I love him...” Catherine smiled softly and placed a hand on his arm, “I know. When we left..I knew that was it. For that chapter anyway. I hoped we could still be friends.”“I still love you Cat. Just...differently. And this...”She placed a finger on his lips to quiet him. “You have a right to know, which is why I’m telling you. I’m not here to cause trouble. I...I know this might not be the easiest thing to deal with. But I couldn’t keep this from you. I’m not going to ask you to choose.”“You’re not?”“No. I know you’d do the honorable thing, but we’re living in a modern world. And deep down, I think we all know you’d still choose Danny. But I’d rather take the option ‘and’ instead of ‘or’. You can have Danny, and gods know you deserve his love...and you can have your child. I still love you...you know I won’t ever stop but like you said...it’s different now. But still as real.” Steve is overwhelmed with emotion and new information. They sit so he could catch his breath and talk over all they know. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~Tell Danny was hard. Even though it happened before they got together, Danny knew how loyal Steve was and assume that was it for them. Steve did his best to reassure him that they weren’t done, not by his account. Danny needed time and as much as it hurt Steve to be away from him at a time like this, he respected Danny’s wishes. Doesn’t mean he wasn’t in a more than depressed state. All he could think about was losing Danny, not being a good father, realizing he was going to become an actual father! “-eve? Steve! STEVEN!” Steve snapped out of it when he realized that Danny was in front of him. He furrowed his brow. “Wh-what are you doing here?”It’d only been a few hours since Steve’s told Danny and Danny had left. “What do you mean what am I doing here? I sort of live here.”“I know but...I thought you needed some time?” “I did. And I had it. Plus your natural impulse control disappears at times like these. I was worried about you...”Steve tried to smile, but the uncertainty he felt deep in his bones made it hard to keep it. He reached over on instinct and interlocked their fingers, “How are you?”“I think I should be asking you that,” Danny replied.“I asked you first.” Steve quipped back. Danny rolled his eyes a bit, but in a fond manner as he placed his other hand over his and Steve’s interlocked ones. “I’ve had some time to think. This will have its hardships but...”“But?” Steve asked, hope creeping into his voice. “But...I’ve had two kids of my own. One in the ‘proper’ way that ended badly. And another kid, out of wedlock, without knowing he was mine for years...I can’t let you go through what I went through with Charlie. I won't be the reason you miss out on your kid’s life. But don’t you dare doubt for a damn second that I’m giving up on you. I love you.”Steve leaned in and kissed Danny fiercely, relief flooding him. “I love you too, Danno. So much.”“Then that’s all that matters. We’ll make plans, we’ll talk with Cat, we’ll tell the team, babyproof the house...looks like we’re having a baby.” Danny told him. And that’s when it hits Steve in that way. It never occurred to him like that. Danny and he were in a relationship. Once they figured out the custody and living arrangements...it would be their baby. Danny’s and his...because Danny was the best father ever, no contest. And his child will have Danny to care and love them. He leaned in and kissed Danny again, he was so happy this was turning out so great. “We’re having a baby.”~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~I’m falling asleep xD I’ll write the second part later. This was the setup, the next part will be the pregnancy, finding out the sex of the baby, the talking about the name, and the rest of it. But I hope you liked this so far ^^

5.20/1.20 Hiking Date Turns Murder Mystery

One of those glaring occasions when a Mcdanno trope/storyline/date is repeated with a straight couple later. Looking at the episode numbers you can't tell me this isn't intentional. To add insult to injury it actually illustrates that Steve and Danny have a healthier and more loving/lasting relationship vs actual married people but sadly will never be recognised as such by canon.

A husband not screaming his wife's name was one of the main reasons Lou was suspicious about his distress not being genuine. It happens so fast yet Danny screams Steve's name 5-7 times at least. Unlike Clay, Danny actually loves his spouse partner.

So Steve and Danny are 5 times more married than the actual marrieds via the show logic. Just a typical frustrating case of the disconnect between Show vs Tell, where the writers keep telling us Steve and Danny are brothers but showing them behaving like canonical spouses.

you know how steve constantly brings danny up even when he's not around? which is a lot on its own but particularly if he's with someone who doesn't know danny or what exactly their deal is, especially since he openly likens their relationship to a marriage to people he barely knows even. that lead me to this particular what if...

every year steve meets up with his former navy buddies, guys he came up with or trained with or went into battle with, between their schedules and as they get out they always try to make a date and catch up.

every year as they get older they start talking about their girlfriends and then their wives and then their kids, since that's a huge part of what's going on in their lives.

steve talks...about danny. his ohana. danny. gracie. danny and charlie. then eddie and the kids: tani and junior. and danny. his partner always comes up and no one questions it, they are used to not asking.

steve doesn't think much of it, until one time one of the other guys corners him, kinda nervous, and says he wants him to be the first of the group to know that he's gay. of course, steve is touched but he doesn't understand why until the guy explains. 'it was you, talking about your danny, and your kids, and the family you built together, with such love and conviction and no hint of shame, that made me believe i could some day have all of that too. it gave me courage to ask my now fiancé out on a date. we would be honoured to invite you two to the wedding, since you are at least partially responsible. we can only hope we are still as in love after 10 years together as you guys are.'

steve is in shock, but he doesn't have the heart to ruin the guy's beautiful coming out speech by telling him danny and him aren't like that. he lets him continue to assume what everyone else apparently had been doing for years.

except...perhaps, it's time to talk to danny. there would be plenty of opportunities when he comes home and tells his live-in partner why they have a wedding to attend to.

(two years later he's the one handing out save-the-dates)

Steve and Danny - When Love Conquers It All

Summary: After almost fifteen years, Danny returns to his old hometown, Short Lake, determined to uncover the dark secret that led to the accident that he is still reminded of every time he looks in the mirror. There, he meets the secret love of his life, Steve, completely emotionally burned out and unhappily married to Catherine. Catherine is still the heartless bitch, preferring to live her life without regard for her husband and her terminally ill baby boy. Danny never confessed his feelings to Steve, who is one reason why Danny returned after all these years. But also, another reason is to be done with the past, Danny is still convinced that Catherine knows more about the horrible fire than she is willing to reveal.

This story is a WIP and has a total of 14 chapters. I am planning on updating regularly. Kindly note that I am not a very big fan of Catherine, and therefore, forgive me for how I picture her in this story.
