Dungeons & Daddies fic 3/∞ (season 1&2 spoilers)

Part three to my Grant & Marco origins fic. I almost don't hate this :D If you see typos or grammatical errors no you don't, English is my second language gimme a break <3

I lean right and ease off the throttle, guiding my motorcycle into Dad’s driveway. The engine hums under me for a moment longer as I come to a halt and I flick the switch to silence it. I find the kickstand with my foot and prop the bike up. The hum of the ride-on lawn mower greets me when I take off my helmet. Next comes Dad’s singing. This is his favourite thing to do on a Saturday morning, belt out Taylor Swift and make funny shapes in the grass with the lawnmower. 

I walk between the house and garage to get to the backyard. It’s small enough it shouldn’t warrant a ride-on mower, but that wasn’t up for discussion. The Craftsman T100 is his prized possession and there’s no way out of it. 

Cupping my mouth with my hands I try to shout and catch his attention. No luck. Soon enough he’ll turn around and see me. I don’t think I’ve ever met a man who’s so unbothered by everything. Even when mom left, it just wasn’t a thing. Well, except for him buying the Craftsman. I guess that was his call for help.

Dad turns around and his eyes light up. “Hi there!” he yells through his music. I wave and wait for him to drive to me and take off his headphones. He has a knowing smile that immediately tells me what’s up. Henry has ratted me out.

 I hug him back, and for a moment there’s just silence in my head. But as I let go, the thoughts come flooding back in. Duty. Doom, but not the game, unfortunately.

“Out with it already,” I say. “We both know what you’re thinking so might as well say it.”

He pulls back and smiles. “Don’t know what you are talking about, son.” Dad takes my helmet and walks ahead to open the back door. “Come on in, I have hot coffee on the stove.” 

He makes the absolute worst coffee. It’s dark and bitter, but it’ll keep you up alright. Luckily his skills in front of the grill compensate for what he lacks in the beverage department. Last summer he bought the Ooni pizza oven, no one made a remark it was his and mom’s wedding anniversary, but it was. The pizzas were good, though.

I take my Fortnite mug and cover the coffee with a long slosh of milk. Visiting this house is a mixed bag. In part, I’m glad Dad hasn’t sold my childhood home. There are good memories too, most before Forgotten Realms. Sparse few after. Often I think it might do us some good to move on. But that’s not Dad’s M.O.

“Beef Jerky?” 

I turn to see Dad seated behind the kitchen island, he’s fiddling with a white plastic dome. I file through our texts in my memory, this must be the dehydrator he was talking about.

“I’m good,” I say, and take a seat opposite him.

“How’s work?” he asks.

“No deaths today as of yet.”

“That’s a grim way to look at it,” he says. 

“It’s a grim world you’ve left us,” I counter.

We sit in silence for a moment. It’s hard to remember what life was like when the sky wasn’t red,  and when my phone buzzing in my back pocket was a reminder of a new mod in the game, not coordinates of a new incursion point. 

“So, Henry-,” dad starts.

“I don’t wanna talk about it,” I say on top of him. 

He takes a contemplative sip of his coffee. “Isn’t that why you’re here though? You never come in on Saturdays.”

He’s got me there. 

Before I’m forced to come up with a response, the doorbell rings, followed by a rhythmic knock. I’m saved by the bell. While Dad goes to open the door, I check my phone for any new alerts. None. But there are messages from Marco.

I had fun yesterday (Marco)

I’m at D.A.D.D.I.E.S today, promised to be on call for the weekend. (Marco)

Thinking of you (Marco)

I can feel a blush spreading across my face and neck at the last message. I look up from my phone, and all I see is Dad’s back. I think it might be Uncle Ron he’s talking to. I hear the word business mentioned multiple times. I stare at my phone and try to think of a reply. I didn’t altogether hate our time together. Okay, that’s a lie, I actually enjoyed myself a lot. That’s the scariest thing. 

Me too (Grant)

Which part? (Marco)

Which part of my messages are you agreeing with? Did you have fun time or are you thinking of me? (Marco)

I can’t think of an answer before Dad walks back into the kitchen, carrying a case of beer. The side of it reads “Beer on Tap, Pants on Point”. I shrug it off, I gave up following the details of their brewery probably three re-brandings ago. I lower my phone on the table and take a sip of cold coffee. 

“How’s Uncle Ron?” I ask.

“Oh, he’s okay. On his way to open the TBBE for us.”

That’s Dad and Ron’s bar, The Businessman's Beverage Emporium. I’m not sure what’s up with dads and these abbreviations.

“He asked me to say hello, and remind you that riding a motorcycle is not a sound business decision,” Dad continues. We’ve had this discussion before with Dad, and Ron. If he is allowed to buy a horde of machines to cope with his divorce, surely it’s my prerogative to ride nearly 200 miles an hour on the highway with nothing around me to protect me if I crash. When I get pulled over, all I need to do is to show my D.A.D.D.I.E.S badge and I’ll be soon on my way again. 

My phone buzzes on the counter. I ignore it, thinking it’s Marco. When the alert sounds only seconds after I grab my phone. The message is splayed right on my home screen, accompanied by a loud alert that ignores any silent setting on your phone. Dad stands up and fetches my helmet. They’ve been retired from duty for a few years now. It’s all on us now. 

New incursion point located at the D.A.D.D.I.E.S HQ, all agents report to base.

HOW DO I SUBMIT A PROMPT?

You can submit a prompt to a writer or creator via the google form linked here. The google form will guide you step-by-step through the process of submitting a prompt.

View our writers page or creators page to check out who you can submit a prompt to. If you are open to any participant writing or creating your prompt, there is an option to submit without selecting a specific writer or creator. In this case, the prompt will be offered to our group and an interested writer or creator will claim it.

For fanfiction, you will be given the option to submit a prompt as a one-shot or multi-chapter fic. Please note that if you request a multi-chapter fic - or leave it up to the writer and they choose to write a multi-chapter fic - the writer will do their best to finish the fic in a timely manner. However, in order to guarantee updates, you would need to make a separate donation/prompt. As a reminder, we do accept non-financial donations. A t100 fic collab 

Back in August, long before the actual finale of The 100, Mads ( @stealing-jasons-job​) had a S7 finale fic idea where transcendence would actually be a choice. And Miranda (@sparklyfairymira​) said, “Hey, this would make such a good fic collab.” So we did it! We asked a ton of Bellarke fic writers if they wanted to join, and we started planning out this massive project. 

The finale didn’t go the way we’d hoped (though some of the basic themes—a mind space-esque place within the anomaly, someone from her past “guiding” her through the process, transcendence actually being a choice, etc—were shockingly similar to the original fic idea), but that just meant this collab was an opportunity to rewrite the finale in a different way. 

So without further ado, The Wreck JRoth Club Fic Collab: 

What is it: 

A fic collab that starts publishing chapters Jan. 7, 2021! A bunch of writers and creators came together to write and create accompanying moodboards/art/vids for this collab, and we’re so excited to start sharing. 

What is it about: 

We’ll share the title, full premise, and some sneak peeks throughout the week (so make sure to follow along for those), but the basic rundown is that it’s an alternate S7 finale where Clarke choses whether or not humanity transcends. There will be angst, fluff, fun twists, heartbreaks, and everything in between.

For me, Bob’s post was the confirmation I needed. I don’t think he would ever bait us, and I no longer have any reason to believe the death was not legitimate. Now it feels even more shitty that basically none of the rest of the cast posted a fairwell, but okay.

I’m going to log off of stan twitter for a while and take a day or two break from here as well. The level of upset I am makes me realize that my hyperfixation on this show this season has been more intense than it usually was in past seasons. Having depression and being isolated during the pandemic, it’s been something to latch onto. Escapism can be great, but not in the sense of ignoring real life and just other interests in general, and not if it has the power to plumet your mental health.

I won’t be watching the rest of the season, given both his death and what feels like a character assassination for Clarke. I could write an essay about how confusing this is as a narrative. In the future when I’m in a better headspace and have time to process, I just might.

I have always given JR the benefit of the doubt, even when others dragged him. I figured that even if for selfish reasons, he wouldn’t do something like this to his show. His legacy will be worse than GoT and good luck with the prequel now. But now, I can really see no other reason aside from spite for the choices he made. We’ll never know what happened behind the scenes but it seems clear now that the abhorrent death was influenced by that. I quite literally cannot see another reason for these choices, no matter how long I search my brain. I know the story is not over until it’s over, but if Bellamy is not coming back, then there is nothing that can change the fact he died alone, hated or misunderstood by his friends, brainwashed and not him true self, and at the hands of his best friend. Therefore, I don’t see a reason to stick around.

So I’m going to detach myself from t100 and find joy in other interests - getting back into cooking, attempting to do yoga at home bc I still feel too anxious to go to my studio but I miss it immensely, and reading other books like PJO and novels that have been sitting on my to-read list for far too long. It’s hard to want anything to do with the canon version of this show right now, even in fic.

That being said, we are absolutely continuing to accept prompts and write for @t100fic-for-blm. Thankfully, all my own prompts for the foreseeable future are AUs, so I’ll still continue to write and post them bc I can separate that from canon enough. Please, please continue to support this initiative, even as you stop watching, either now or after the series finale. It is a great way to work through emotions about this show and our characters, but most importantly this cause will continue to need support moving forward. Unlike the t100, this has real life implications and it’s important we continue to stand by the BLM movement and not let support slip away, even as media coverage inevitably does.

Lastly, a big thanks to everyone who nominated me for @bellarkeficawards! I’m absolutely blown away by the nominations and support and it has made the last few days that much better. A year ago I was new to fandom and almost quit before I really started, and I’m so glad that thanks to some kind people who reached out, I didn’t. Since then I’ve loved sharing all my work with you guys and have met incredible people, both within the @t100fic-for-blm group and otherwise.

Hang in there everyone. This will be hard for so many of us, but one thing I do know for certain, that I remind myself during my own lows, is that no feeling lasts forever. Time will make this easier and I think most of us will eventually be able to look back on our crazy fandom experience fondly. I myself don’t intend to *leave* fandom, but I know many will inevitably drift from it post-series, even more so now that the show has been irreparably damaged in the eyes of some. So a big thanks to all writers, creators, and awesome people who have been here to share the enthusiasm over the years. Our showrunner might be awful, but overall, this fandom is one to he treasured

Fandom(s): The 100, though I used to write for the webcomic Check, Please! and I wrote one Stucky fic and some Harry Potter things that I hate now lol.

Most popular one-shot (by kudos): My actual most popular one-shot is for Check, Please, but if we’re just counting t100, then it’s In Dads We Trust! This was a Bellarke/Memori prompt in which Bellamy and Murphy are stay-at-home dads with a Youtube channel and they get in a feud with Josephine, a popular mommy blogger. It was so much fun to write, and I’m glad people enjoyed it!

Most popular multi-chapter (by kudos): That would be You’re Already Breaking My Heart, aka my Bellarke To All the Boys AU, aka the reason this fandom trapped me in the first place, because it was my first fic. I hold it near and dear to my heart because it got me writing again after a long period of just not and I would not have the many other fics I have written for this fandom without it.

Favourite story you’ve written so far: We Don’t Need To Say It, my Memori actor AU! The longest fic I have ever written and the one I had the most fun writing as well. There aren’t very many long Memori stories and I knew I wanted to write one. This was rather self-indulgent, but I’ve gotten a lot of nice comments and other people seemed to enjoy it which makes me incredibly happy.

Fic you were nervous to post: Probably you’re the last best thing i’ve got going or danger has a hold on me (but i’m safe in your arms). The first, because it is my first Murven fic and I was not sure how some people would react to me posting for a different ship than I normally shout about. I’m pretty big on multi-shipping and I know some people are not lol, but I have gotten some nice comments on that one that have made me excited for some other Murven things I have in the works. And the latter because it is smut and I do not enjoy writing smut/do not like the smut I write, but I had the idea and it would not leave me alone so I had to get it written. 

How do you choose your titles?: Typically song lyrics, but a few of my titles are more based on the idea or something someone says in the fic.

Do you outline?: Yes, I outline obsessively (I’m a Virgo). We Don’t Need To Say It had two full outlines, one for the fic itself, and one for four seasons of the fake TV show I created for the story lol. 

Complete works: 25!

In-progress works: Currently one (but not for much longer). Piece Me Back Together is my Definitely, Maybe AU, featuring dad!Murphy, so it has Clurphy, Murven, and Memori all in one.

Coming soon/not yet started: Some holiday fics are mayhaps on the way 👀. A bunch of prompts that I need to catch up on, including another dad!Murphy story where he has a TikTok cooking show and a Memori Anastasia AU, among others! And in terms of multi-chaps, I have finally started the Bellarke Emma AU I kept talking about this summer, and I hope to post the first chapter in the coming week. And I’m working on my Gossip Girl rewatch for my Murven/Bellarke s1-s2 AU of that. It will most definitely be more Murven than Bellarke because I have not been paying attention to Dan and Serena on this rewatch but I feel like I’m okay with this outcome.

Upcoming work you’re most excited about: I’m excited about a lot of things, but probably the Anastasia AU because I love that movie so much and I had actually been thinking about a Memori AU for it, so to actually get to write one is going to be a lot of fun!

On Bellamy & Fic

I know we are hurting right now, but I wanted to at least try and cobble together my thoughts to let you know my next steps concerning fic and how I'm personally coping in the light of Bellamy's death. I'm angry, most of all, because, for me, I could accept a death for Clarke or Bellamy, or both of them, if it made narrative sense. If it was in-character and emotional and important to the plot. His death was none of these things, and I think that is the part I struggle most with. It is nonsensical and stupid and doesn't hold any greater meaning, so don't think you're missing out on one. It doesn't exist.

I just want to be clear though that no matter how you feel, whatever confusing mess of emotions or sadness or rage, it's valid. I am here for you always and please feel free to reach out either through my ask or my dms. Never feel like you have to be on here though, and please, please, please put your mental health first.

I also really want to recommend you check out @historyofbellarke's and @burninghoneyatdusk's posts here and here about his death and moving forward. They discuss their own personal takes on it and what it all means and how they'll be continuing on. There's rage and sadness and some really valid points made. When I was writing this post, I looked at how well they did theirs for guidance.

I am heartbroken, utterly, and plan to take a couple of days to sort through my fic and come up with some kind of more exact outlook, which I will keep you updated on. Some kind of plan to move forward in a more concrete way. That said, I am here, and I am staying, and I am writing for the foreseeable future. I will be writing my wips and prompts I've received through @t100fic-for-blm and encourage people to keep sending in prompts, even after the series ends.

If you need to leave, that is more than understandable, as is just taking a break and coming back whenever you're ready. If you do, there will still be some kind of community waiting for you when you come back. Whatever you need to do, I implore you to do it. I'm staying because, frankly, I love fic and I love the people I've met because of it. I will not let something that has become so important to me and others, that has brought me such joy and a sense of community, be taken away. Not because of some asshole who thought he was being edgy by killing off his male lead in a horrifically idiotic way. I won't let him take away something that has truly changed my life for the better.

You all are so important to me, and most of you are truly lovely people. I don't think I could've ever asked for a better first fandom. That said, I don't think I will ever involve myself in a fandom as I have with t100, but I think that is an okay thing, a healthy thing, that I need to do for myself. Do what you need to do to keep yourself well and healthy.

Feel the hurt, feel the anger. Feel everything you need to and are in all its complexities. Your pain is valid. Your anger is valid. This is nonsensical, and will take time to let go of, but it will get better and you will be able to let go one day.

I know everyone needs to do what is best for them, but my advice is to take your time deciding what that is. Don't let a fuckwit with an ego the size of Jupiter ruin something that has brought you joy, don't let him take that from you. Hold on to it if you can, and take what makes you feel happy, and say fuck everything else. The fans matter, content creators matter. Bellamy and Clarke are ours, and we can say, "screw everyone else, let's just go.”

May 10: 2x18 The Immunity Syndrome

Finally another TOS episode. I missed it. I miss Star Trek in general, I need to... get back into obsessing about it on the regular. It makes me so happy but I haven’t had room in my brain for it lately.

Anyway, I didn’t remember too much about this ep until halfway through, but I enjoyed it a lot!

Hilarious to me that as Kirk says “Some lovely...planet” he’s obviously supposed to be looking at the pretty woman who passes by his line of sight, but the camera also takes that moment to pan out far enough to show Spock for the first time. Who is implying what??

Poor Spock... The Intrepid dying was the thing I remembered most about this ep, because, like, obviously, a whole group of Vulcans on a ship. But this is such a sad moment. But at least his best friends come to see if he’s okay.

Lol Kirk, when has there EVER been another starship in the area? I feel bad for the crew; their vacation has officially been cancelled.

The space amoeba was hungry.

“A deep understanding of the way things happen to Vulcans.” I really like that. I like this whole Spock and McCoy conversation.

Also, damn Spock. I feel like he read not just McCoy but the whole human race. But also like what a hypocrite, because the Vulcans were pretty violent.

I feel like this ep is inspired by people’s curiosity about black holes in the 60′s.

Mccoy’s go-to is always the stimulants. That should solve everyone’s problems.

“You’re the science officer! Do the science!” Basically an exact quote.

Oh no, they’re penetrating the Zone.

“The stars are...gone.” Whoops, guess we’ll have to rename it “Trek.”

“Kindly tell me what happened to the stars! How can I have a romantic nights on the observation deck if there aren’t any stars, tell me that, Mr. Spock?”

Is this one of those eps where Kirk pushes himself too hard, and everyone else, too?

“Are you trying to be funny, Mr. Spock?” I mean like in his defense, that was pretty funny. An also, Spock definitely knew it was.

“I recommend survival.” That’s it, put Bones on t100 now.

I’m sorry, but how do people not love and respect Kirk? He just wants to explore, he is so brave, and he always knows what to do.

Drink every time someone says “unknown.”

I feel like Spock is the only one not bothered by all this.

“If it went against the rules of logic [to do everything opposite], would Spock suggest it?”

Also love that Kirk’s like ‘well worst case scenario, it doesn’t work, and I can use this incident to make fun of Spock until our inevitable oncoming death!’

Bones has been hitting the stimulants pretty heavy, I see.

And Spock stays behind for a moment alone with Jim...

I love this take on Vulcans!! They have never been conquered. They don’t understand facing the unknown. At the end, they felt astonishment.

This acting is amazing. Make me believe you’re being thrown about bbs!

Kirk’s like “I remember my biology. The biology... of Vulcans, right Mr. Spock?”

It devoured the Intrepid extra fast because it was hungry.

Oh no, Spock and McCoy are having a martyr-off. And insulting Jim’s science skills too lol. “Stay out of this, yellow shirt.”

Oh I remember this now. Kirk has to choose between his two bros.

“I have two science personnel in front of me, but only one photo in my hands.”

This is absolutely a classic reality tv show style fake out. “I’m sorry, Mr. Spock... you’re going on the death mission.”

Spock’s shade as they’re walking down the hall. “Sorry I’m better than you at everything, Dr.”

This Spock & McCoy scene too!! How McCoy should wish him luck. Let me have my Vulcan dignity. And then he does wish him luck but only when Spock has left... They’re both so savage here but I guess they’re both stressed out and tired. And Spock’s in mourning too. This is like Spones Unfiltered.

“And Dr. McCoy... you would not have survived it.” Why does that hit me so hard?

“He’s kicked it in the side to let us know!”

Destroy! That! Organism!

Spock getting a jab in at McCoy even now: “You should have wished me luck.”

I love that Kirk asked for one tractor beam and Scotty was like “I think that’s a bad idea” and Kirk’s like “okay TWO tractor beams.” He’s going to save his space husband, Scotty, it’s not negotiable.

Captain McCoy. So sassy.

Spock is bringing back data for McCoy as a gift! How sweet.

How does McCoy know he messed up the tests?

“Some..lovely planet.” For real this time.

Okay, that was a great episode and I really enjoyed the whole thing: the concept of the giant space cell virus, the Enterprise then becoming a sort of virus itself to destroy it, Kirk’s excellent leadership abilities, the triumvirate scenes and especially the Spock and Bones relationship, the reference to the Vulcan ship--but it did not stick the landing. We didn’t get to see Spock return? More importantly, we didn’t get to see Kirk totally collapse from the stimulants? Okay, maybe that would have been bad. Bb can make it to Starbase 6. I just didn’t want it to end I guess.

I feel like Spock was especially savage today but then it also makes sense. He was probably as drained as everyone else. Plus, I think losing the Intrepid must have been very difficult for him. Like he told McCoy, he felt all of it. Poor Vulcan as a whole; that’s a lot of people. Also, I suspect, based on their pacifism and also how upset Sarek was about Spock joining Starfleet, that they are probably underrepresented generally in the service. That was probably the only all-Vulcan constitution class vessel in Starfleet. And you know Spock knew some of them personally.

Anyway now that I’m thinking about the Intrepid... I so desperately want to know what an all-Vulcan ship would be like. Just 400 Vulcans. At first I suggested they had a meditation room but that’s too private an activity. They probably do a lot of jamming out in their rec room. Also all their cabins must be extremely decadent.

Current plan is to watch another episode on Thursday to make up for missing last week, but the next one is A Private Little War, which is just so depressing so... we’ll see.

i don’t watch spn but i have to ask,,,, which ending was worse theirs or t100

shockingly I’m going to say Supernatural. t100 actually comes out looking better after this one

and here’s the main reason why: the 100 failed to spend time on character outside of a few moments here are there, was badly paced and jam packed, had a resolution and story that was incredibly out of sync with everything before it, and basically went against their own themes by bringing in random aliens and transcendence, etc.

but the whole season - and the season before that - were already so out of sync with the previous seasons of the show, there weren’t really compelling character arcs that had been carried through the last few seasons that the final one dropped per se (they just weren’t really focused on consistent character arcs in general) and like, at least the main characters got a happy ending that seemed to make some sort of sense. not the transcendence or the aliens, but the fact that all our faves are together (mostly) and that is something we can be happy about

and the big outlier there (Bellamy) was likely due to bts drama and not just completely incompetent writing

SPN spent their entire last season building up a story about how Chuck has been controlling Sam and Dean’s lives their entire lives because it’s amusing to him and just a story to him and he wants it to be tragic and just about the two of them. It said they couldn’t be happy and couldn’t have friendships or relationships until they took care of him. It said that they only they thing were certain was true in their entire LIVES were the relationships they each had respectively with Eileen and Castiel. It build up a big narrative thread about how Castiel has always been the wrench in Chuck’s plans because he loved Dean and changed the story from the moment he met him and that was presented as a Big Deal. It literally said in an earlier episode that an ending without Castiel was a bad one. It showed Sam and Dean’s desire to form relationships but the villain kept making it impossible, killing off not only their friends but literally everyone on Earth.

The irony was that the villain of the entire last season only thought Sam and Dean were important and did not care about their relationships with other people, did not want them to have relationships outside of each other, and did not want them to have a happy ending because he was more invested in a dramatic, tragic ending.

And this went hand in hand with the long running theme (even if it’s been badly handled) that family is more than your blood relations - that it isn’t JUST about Sam and Dean, they dont’ ONLY have each other, they have all the friends and family they have made over the years. The three biggest this season being Eileen (Sam’s canonical love interest), Castiel (canonically now in love with Dean and canonically supposedly Dean’s best friend) and Jack (their pseudo son basically.)

And in the end Eileen got killed off off screen and Sam didn’t even mention her in the finale. Castiel confessed to Dean and then died and Dean did not even mourn him on screen in the finale, but instead said they should move on. And Jack walked away and just left (that one I sort of get; it made sense and worked in context)

The finale episode not only focused only on Sam and Dean and treated the relationships they had made with other people outside of them has unimportant, but it didn’t even give them a happy ending after they defeated the villain! Dean died! And Sam lived with some random unnamed woman (not Elieen, because who cares I guess) until he died to be with Dean again.

The 100 finale was out of nowhere, but the whole season wasn’t really (as far as I could tell) leading anywhere. It was just a wild way to end it but there was no clear narrative path that we expected it to take because the whole season was just kind What Is THis.

On the other hand, the entire last season of Supernatural basically said Sam/Dean/Cas/Jack need to defeat Chuck so that they can live a happy life outside of his influence, outside of the Bros Only Tragic Sad story he wanted to tell. It said their whole lives haven’t been real, but their relationships with Eileen and Cas have been. It said that Chuck was wrong and the villain because he didn’t value Cas, because he didn’t value happy endings, because he didn’t value the boys settling down, because he didn’t value ANYONE outside of the codependent bros. And then they defeat the villain.

And the final episode suddenly confirms Cas doesn’t matter, Eileen doesn’t matter, Jack doesn’t matter, no one matters to the brothers outside of each other and they didn’t even get to have a happy ending, because Dean went and died anyways.

The 100 finale was just a mess because what was going on. The Supernatural finale was a slap in the face because the entire narrative was leading in one direction and then they just did something else in the last minute.

what are you working on right now? I'm in between fics right now after posting The Cockroach recently for Chopped! I'll likely start something new soon (I'm thinking of a canonverse forbidden lovers fic?), but we'll see where the muse takes me! When I'm not busy writing fic or being a human disaster I like to beta read. I beta read several fics for the Bellarke Big Bang, and I'm really excited to read them in their final form once that comes out! Beta reading may not be the first thing people think of with writing, but it's really elevated my experience with fanfic. It's a great way to let out my inner critic, participate in the writing process from a different angle, and read new fics before anyone else (hehe!) while helping out other writers. Going beyond 'this doesn't work' to 'this particular aspect isn't coming through right and here are some ideas on how to fix it' is the crucial step and has really made me a better writer!

I'm also excited to be accepting prompts for Bellarke Writers for Black Lives Matter. Send me a prompt and a donation to an organization of your choice which supports the BLM movement, and I'll write you a fanfic!

what’s something you’d like to write one day? I usually write whatever I want to write! One thing I've never tried though is an ot3. I enjoy them but at this point I don't think I could do that sort of relationship justice.

what is the fanwork you’re most proud of? Honestly I'm proud of all my fics. Each one carries its own challenges and rewards, so I never get in a rut! The work I'm most proud of, though, has got to be Revive. It's a canon compliant through s6 Memori pregnancy multichap that I wrote during hiatus. It's by far the longest fic I've ever written, and I wrote it at a time when I was still very uncomfortable writing fic. I must have had my eyes closed half the time I was drafting it, I was so nervous! But I finished it and posted it and from there on writing was just that much easier. I haven't looked back since.

why did you first start writing fic? I wrote my first "fic" in 2014, when I was 14 years old. Then I came back a year later with a really short oneshot. Both of those were for Supernatural, and they're still on my ao3. I was extremely nervous about writing, especially with the fear that my family would find out what I was doing. That fear kept me from writing for years and years, pining to write something. That is, until last July. I'd had enough. So I sat myself down and made myself write, every dad for three days until The Best Back Rubs (my first fic for The 100) was written. Again after that fic I had trouble writing. Four months later though I started writing Revive and like I said earlier, I just kept writing after that!

what frustrates you most about fic writing? The most frustrating thing about fic writing is lukewarm reception. As much as I hate to admit it, validation is important to me and I like to feel like people are enjoying what I write. When I spend a lot of time on a fic and get excited about posting it, a part of me is expecting a whole bunch of comments and kudos and hits. Sometimes that doesn't happen though! Usually that doesn't happen. I have to remind myself that those responses are not reflective of my value as a writer. My friends are a huge help with this!

what are your top five songs right now?

what are your inspirations? My inspiration is a little bit different for every fic I write. I tend toward canonverse, so I pull from interesting aspects of canon and then let my imagination run wild with *what if*s. My own life inspires my writing as well. This helps me to add in little details to make the story feel more real. I've been inspired by writing prompts and movies and songs and other fics and snow falling outside my window!

The one thing that's constant is other writers. I learn so much from reading, beta reading, and of course talking to my friends! They help to give me ideas as well as motivation to keep going. Writing can be a lonely pursuit, but it doesn't have to be. There's only so much going on in my brain—connecting with others is what brings things to the next level.

what first attracted you to Memori? what attracts you now? From the first time they locked eyes, I shipped it a little! But in the beginning, I wasn't that invested in Memori. I kind of took them for granted until s5. But more on that later. What first attracted me to Memori was how non-traditional they are in that they're not standard cut good guys yet they were allowed to meet and fall in love. Add on top of that how they make each other better in a nuanced and imperfect way, and I'm hooked! I also really liked how they didn't beat around the bush with getting together. In a world where slowburn is seen as peak romance, it was refreshing to see a couple that was just like 'you? I like you' and then they got together and eventually became what is (in my possibly biased eyes) the strongest couple on the show at this point. Getting into s5, that's when I really became invested in the ship. It hurt to see their relationship problems like that, but it allowed them to grow from it in a beautiful way. Through it all, they have so much love for each other. They're imperfect people and they make mistakes, but at the end of the day they learn from it and become better as a couple than they are alone. Their devotion to each other really is something else!

Besides Memori, what character or pairing do you like best on t100? Funny story: I actually decided to start watching The 100 after reading Bellarke smut on ao3! It was a non-traditional introduction to the story, but something must have clicked with me and I was a Bellarke shipper from the start (even though I frankly detested Bellamy in the beginning). I still ship them, even though Memori has taken my heart! Oh yeah and I got to give a shoutout to Niytavia as well because apparently canon isn't going to feed us with content for them.

why did you decide to start writing for bellarkefic-for-blm? It's pretty simple, really: Black lives matter should not be a controversial statement, and this is one of the ways I can help make our world a little less sucky for Black people.

what’s your writing process like (esp for prompts, chopped!, etc)? Every fic I write begins with a hodge podge of ideas. Sometimes I scribble them in a notebook and sometimes I use the computer, but it's always a creative mess! Recently I've been using Notion, a free editor which has a great desktop app. A writer friend turned me on to it and now I use it for writing as well as other life stuff too! It's easy to drag and reorganize ideas, so it really helps take a brainstorm mess to a working outline. Once an idea starts taking form I organize my ideas into related pieces and some end up getting thrown out. I craft "scenes" out of this and soon it becomes clear what pieces I'm missing. I fill in those pieces, throw out or rework stuff that doesn't work together, and pretty soon I have an outline.

I absolutely love getting prompts! I haven't gotten one through Bellarke Writers for Black Lives Matter (yet!), but I've written in a few rounds of Chopped. Most recently wrote for Chopped 3.0 Round 2 and won 1st place for best overall with my Memori fic The Cockroach. The biggest difference that comes when writing from a prompt like that is I need to make sure the fic not only fits the prompt but breathes life into it!

what are some things you’d like to recommend? Remember how I mentioned I beta read? Yeah. Right now my friend Kara, aka @queenemori, is writing a slowburn Memori actors au called We Don't Need To Say It. It's out of this world amazing and I am so hype to be a part of the process. The first chapters are up on ao3 and I cannot recommend it enough. ed’s note: this fic just updated!

For writers who are looking for a push, I highly recommend participating in Chopped. Fandom events are fun, the prompts make you get creative, and writing deadlines inspire you to actually get them finished and out there!

I haven't been in the T100 fandom in years, but I'm really glad you're enjoying the prequels. Some people are just being really mean about everything, I mean, after everything it's fiction and they're treating it like doing this, or not doing this, or shipping or not shipping this is some great act for or against them when it should be ENJOYABLE! People should enjoy themselves! They're clearly not, and should probably find something else to enjoy, life is too short to stay angry about things

It’s not about the ships, it’s not even about the characters themselves. It’s about the story.

I’m a proud Bellarke- I ship them and I’ve shipped them ever since 1x08 aired and it was made clear to me that these two characters and their dynamic are integral to the story in a BIG way. There was a shift there. I saw it then, and I see it now. Maybe it’s romantic, maybe not. I certainly hope the former is true, but if it’s not, I’m not going to take it as a personal affront against me.

It’s important to understand that while The 100’s universe is built on Bellamy and Clarke’s characters (as well as a plethora of others), the story is not all about them as individuals. They all work together to craft this story that we love, and this world is so huge and so developed that there are infinite stories to tell.

It’s just becoming time for those stories to be told through different eyes.

I don’t know about you guys, but I really enjoyed the story I saw last night. It was well-written for the most part. The pacing was a bit off simply because they had to pack all of this information into one episode, so some things didn’t flow together as naturally as they should’ve. That’s okay. I still liked it. Even with our original T100 gang appearing for approximately two minutes.

I have and always will watch The 100 for one reason: storytelling. Don’t get me wrong, it’s fun to stan and it’s fun to ship. It’s fun to make spec about what will happen in the future. But it’s not fun to take it as a personal affront every time you aren’t ‘right’ about something or everytime you don’t get what you want from the story.

If you find it stressful or angering to watch, I’d really encourage you guys to take a step back and question why you’re watching. Is it even worth it anymore? As jberk said, life’s too short to stay angry about something as simple as a TV show or ship.

As for me, I still plan to curl up with a cup of tea on Wednesday nights and watch my favorite show. I’ll probably sob like a baby when the finale airs, because something good will be over that’s been apart of my life for years. I’ll continue watching to the end, and probably even after that. And I’ll do it regardless of how much screen time Bellamy and Clarke have or if they end up together.

The 100 Final Season Speculation Tag

Thank you for the tag, @bellarkes-hope​! This is fun to think about and I like reading everyone’s answers!

1. Which character are you most excited to learn the endgame of: I’m not sure if “excited” is the word - more like ANXIOUS! Ha! But, no surprise here - I’m most interested in Raven & Murphy’s endgame

2. Which character are you most excited to learn the backstory of: I definitely would love more backstory on Becca Franco, which would then lead to Cadogan & Second Dawn, all of which I’m interested in. But I also want to know what Diyoza’s been up to in the Anomaly. 

3. One character who deserves a new look: Diyoza! Let’s have her come out of the Anomaly (or when whoever goes IN) looking kind of fresh and fancy. Also, same for Indra, honestly! I love Indra’s awesome look but I would not be upset to see her updated for the last season. 

4. Two locations you want to revisit: Becca’s Lab for sure! I find everything there interesting and think there’s a lot more to explore. Also lets go back to Cadogan’s Office/The Office in the bunker - there’s some FASCINATING photos behind the desk and that seal on the wall that MIGHT be “Becca’s Crypt” still seems relevant...

5. Three brotps you hope get more screentime: I would like to see Octavia & Diyoza, Raven & Diyoza and probably Murphy & Jordan (although I was amused at Murphy & Gabriel’s interactions too)

6. Who will get the happiest ending: Oh man... this question haunts me. I don’t know if anyone is going to get to be “happy” but I really would like to see hopefulness at the end of the story. I could be satisfied if Raven & Murphy die as long as they actively choose to die together. Do I want that? Not really, but it would give them autonomy over something that happens to them and characters in this world rarely seem to get that. I would very much like for Raven to be happy but I’m not sure the writers know what that IS for her any longer. A new rando dude that she’s known for 12 days doesn’t feel like happily ever after to me, soooo....

7. Which minor or new characters you want to see more of: I don’t want new characters. Let me say that again. I DON’T WANT NEW CHARACTERS. Yes, I know we’re going to get some but I don’t want to focus on them AT ALL. Now that said - we’ve already got Russell & Diyoza and I think that the two of them going up against each other would be fantastic. Also, give me Becca always and jeez can we get some more Jordan?!

8. Who will eventually snap Jordan out of the funk we see him in, at the end of 6x13: Personally I would like this to be Murphy. I think it definitely needs to be a member(s) of Spacekru

9. Who will be the first to tell Bellamy he can’t immediately run into the Anomaly after Octavia: Well if it happens right away, then probably Echo, since that’s who he was with at the end of s6. But if they go back to Sanctum to report on what happened and how Octavia disappeared, then maybe it could be Clarke. 

10. To reference Monty’s ‘do better’ mantra: Raven would be a good choice, Echo too

11. To say 'go float yourself’: Would love this to be Jordan, LOL

12. Random object or prop you would bring back for Season 7 if you could: Ohhh... well I definitely think we’re going to see more of Becca’s Notebook, and I’m here for whatever esoteric info is in that sucker! Raven is on the case! But also - man man man I really wanna see the tattoos of this world come to MEAN SOMETHING! Lemme see more of Gaia’s Flamekeeper tattoo and how it connected to Titus and the seal in the Second Dawn bunker! Lemme see if the leaf jewel Simone wore in her hair is actually the reference to the Broadleaf clan in Grounder history that I want it to be. I want to know what all those tattoos on McCreary meant and how about Shaw too. I have THOUGHT about this stuff and I wanna know SO BAD! Also - I would NOT be mad to see the soccer ball make yet another appearance! 

13. Book One storyline/reference you want to see back for Season 7: Well it isn’t a broad storyline but I really loved the Raven part of the story where she accepted that Finn wasn’t right for her because he didn’t love her “the way I want to be loved” in 1x10. That was a tough conclusion for her to come to and I really appreciated that she was acknowledging her self worth at the same time she was choosing not to hate Finn or really even to blame him. But since then she’s had a lot of self doubt, hasn’t felt like she’s that worthy of being happy, and has struggled with her capabilities (ie guilt from not being able to get Spacekru off the Ring/being willing to die because of it). Feels like s6 brought so many of the s1 personalities back (yikes) so I’d love to see Raven get her confidence back and recognize that she’s more than worthy. Heck, this isn’t a bad storyline for all the characters, really. 

14. Dead character you would like mentioned: I’m always thrilled with a Sinclair reference, but really Harper and Monty should be mentioned along with the other delinquents who died too. Also it was rad to see Pike in s6 so heck add him in and while I’m at it lets talk about Luna and “it’s not your blood that defines you, it’s your heart”! Hello, that’s relevant with all our new nightbloods, isn’t it?!

15. How do you think Hope and Octavia know each other (from season 6): Definitely seems like Octavia helped raise Hope during her time in the Anomaly. Maybe when Octavia came back to Sanctum, could be that Hope was like 12 or something, so seeing Hope come out of the Anomaly as an adult made Octavia feel so emotional. The idea of Octavia & Diyoza as either co-parents or honestly with Diyoza as pseudo-mom to both of them pleases me. 

16. How do you think it all will end?: I’m struggling not to just post a photo of that dumpster on fire that’s going around about 2020, LOLOLOL. But I mean... I’ve been burned by other shows so I don’t have a lot of confidence here. I’m really hoping for both an ending that feels at least a bit hopeful but also is true to CHARACTER arcs through the series, not simply whatever the plot of s7 turns out to be. Call me Fox Mulder but I WANT TO BELIEVE - I want to believe that humanity isn’t just some plague across the universe. So... I’ll speculate that a group of survivors is either landing back on Earth or at least heading there at the end of the show. I think we need to fix what we break, and of course that means going back to our own planet. This would not be disappointing to me, so maybe the view of a renewed green Earth is the last shot we get, but instead of just being one or two people looking down, it’s everyone who has made it back. I dunno... FWIW I haven’t rewatched shows that have ended poorly, so I hope t100 doesn’t have me abandoning the world they created. 

(Don’t freak fellow Murven fans - I will never abandon THEM! And whatever ending we get, I’m sure I’ll have some stories in response to it!)
