confessing to his mute crush | pjs
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
pairing: jay x deaf!reader
genre: complete fluff
summary: jay and deaf reader both seem to like each other, just when he thinks that his confession was a pure failer the reader does something surprising.
“i. hope. i. am. not. late”  jay signed and chuckled as he fixed his cross body bag standing nervously infront of you which got out of place while he was running to the stop you had asked him to be at.
you smile at him, knowing he recently had learned sign language just to be able to communicate with you and so he was, a little slow and not so clear.
you loved cycling alot, and bought this brand new bicycle and you had asked him if he wanted to spend a day out riding it and then go off to the beach and sit there.
jay and you met through the same animal care shelter you guys volunteered to work at, his charming smile immediately caught your attention. however it was hard to communicate with your muteness, you only knowing sign language and him knowing none of it.
however within a span of few months, jay started learning it to be able to communicate with you.
it made your heart flutter, i mean it’s the effort and dedication. still you asked yourself ‘does he even like me back?’
“is. this. the. new. cycle. that. you. bought?”he asked as you nodded and got off it, you touched the cute basket decorated with a small miffy teddy and a pink bow, it also had the dirty wrapper of chocolate you ate earlier.
embarrassed, you took it out and threw it somewhere on the ground.
“i decorated it” you signed as he looked at you and smiled, making you blush as you looked away, anywhere but his eyes.
“예쁘다” he said, even though you obviously didn’t hear him you read his lips quickly anyways. signing a quick thank you you sit back on your cycle and signal him to sit.
he sits behind you hands on your shoulder as you begin to hit the pedal and ride around the city.
some moments later you feel jay’s hand shifting from your shoulder to your waist now that you’re cycling in a well pace.
the wind blows on your face blowing your hair back at his face too, you hit the break for a moment and turn around and give him an apologetic look.
he smiles at you taking your hair and putting them to one side of your shoulder and keeping his chin on the other, staring at you the entire time he does so.
you squirm and try to get used to the feeling of his charp chin on your shoulder as it’s digging through.
you shove the feeling off as you start riding again, this moment was really perfect for you, everything was so good. a nice cloudy, windy weather with your favorite person  friend hugging you by the waist and face on your shoulder, what a dream really.
you guys rode the cycle around the city, stopping by a store to get ice cream, as you parked your cycle near the store you guys stood on the footpath and he bought some ice cream.
you looked at him to see if he finished his and you caught him staring at you, he pretended to look around and controlled his cheeky smile but then something else caught your attention wired headphones connected to his phone in his pocket.
you grab them and gain his attention as he looks back at you “you like music?” he nodded and took his phone put of the pocket searching for something.
curiously, you stared as you got closer to see his screen “this. is. my. favorite. song” he signed enthusiastically as you widen your eyes giving him a cheering gesture.
you stopped as you looked at him “i wish i could listen to it.. it must be nice” silence filled the space between both of you as you stared deep into you while smiling “it is.”both of you finished the ice cream before it melted.
after cycling and strolling around the pretty city here you were sitting on the rocks of the beach as the wind blew every once in a while.
jay had this thing forever in his mind, he loved you he loved you so damn much. everything you did got him screaming internally to wife him up.
“it’s fun being with you, you know?” you signed as jay felt his heart racing a million times in a second what could she mean by that? she probably meant as a friend right? or am i letting my stupid thoughts take over.
“thank. you.” he says as you close your eyes and give him the widest smile.
being with him made you feel full, it made you feel like finally you had a friend. but you quickly fell in love with him because of his mannerisms.
even though at school no one really bullied you, but there wasn’t something big for someone to  findi you interesting. emptiness fill inside of you, as for others you were just there, not enough things to be interesting for someone. or atleast for the people around you. jay knew these very well that’s why he hated the fact he fell in love with you so fast and was worried that you might reject him because of how fast everything would happen.
but little did he know that your feelings were pretty.. mutual you can say.
there was a wooden stick in your hand with which you were doodling on the beach sand with, jay was observing each and every move.
with that lavender sundress you were wearing it made everything 10 times cuter in his eyes. the way the wind slightly blew back your hair but you kept on fixing it.
you started moving the stick and you wrote your name’s inital with did adding a unfilled heart after it and looked at jay “want to try?” you ask bringing the stick closer to him as he accepts it.
he looks at you for a second passing you a lovestruck look.
J +
he writes before your names inital as you shoot him a confusing look with a nervous smile.
he looks at you as his smile drops, emotions very visible in his eyes.
=
he adds an equals to sign between your inital and the unfilled heart, following with filling the unfill heart that you drew.
your smile drops as you stare back at him, completely in shock and he stares back with a regretful look in his eyes.
you watch him take a big breath after looking at your reaction, not quite promising is it.
“i. like. you.” you sit there, puzzled. you don’t know whether to do something or cry, the moment feels unreal.
it all felt so quick that you didn’t realise you haven’t responded to him yet for about past five minutes atleast.
his hopeful looks now dies as he apologizes and stands up, “i am sorry, i am sorry, sorry i should leave i should probably leave.” he says as you try to read his lips “sorry…. should leave” you could pick up some of the words not many because of how rapid and low his mouth worked.
you watch him stand up quickly wearing his bag not even sparing another glance at you as he starts walking away.
you felt your cheeks getting warm as everythinf starts getting blurry due to the upcoming tears.
you shake and get up dropping your own bag on the floor.
“stay”
did i say it right? you swore you heard the vibrations in your body of your own voice. not fully hearing what you said or if you said it right or no.
breathing heavily, jay stops in his tracks as he turns around and stares at you in disbelief as you break down. right on that spot you were standing at.
the word wasn’t clear and mix of broken and light cracks of course, a very weak one because of the vocal chords.
you felt bad for making him wait for so long or making his excitement go away for taking your no response as rejection.
you were just shocked, he actually liked you back? your entire life you felt so neglected and behind just because you were deaf, but now some thing good is finally.. happening?
now standing in a distance both of you staring at each other as he watches uncontrollable tears flow down your face as you sign a ‘i like you too.” while lowering your head and start sobbing.
jay runs back to you and closes the distance, both of you hug like losers.
because of the closeness you can feel his body vibrations and shivering, as you realise that he is crying you push him back to see his eyes now your eyes widened “why are you crying silly i should be the one crying..”
he just shrugs while trying to give you a smile and crying.
you bring your hands to wipe his tears off as you hold his face. his hands naturally rest on your waist.
for a short moment you guys look deep into each other’s eyes as you lean in signaling for a kiss.
you felt him giggling like a teenage boy as he leaned in and pressed his soft lips to yours.
he could taste the strawberry ice cream you ate earlier on your lips, your scent filling his nostrils and working as a hypnosis.
you pull away taking a long breath, “wasn’t it too long for a first kiss?” you sign while wiping away your own tears now and laughing.
once again complete silence fills the beach as the only thing playing if only you could hear, was the sound of the waves. both of you completely lost in each other’s eyes, it was like your eyes are speaking it all for you.
but you noticed it, you noticed he was holding back a reply so you hit his chest “say it. say what you want to say.”
he broke the eye contact looking away at the sea, the waves coming and hitting the shore as his stupid smile came back on his face.
he looked back at you and fixed your hair, brought his hands back to himself and signed at you.
“i. could. kiss. you. for. an. eternity.”

Everyone talks about how amazing the princess bride is (rightfully so) but people don’t talk enough about the soundtrack. The motifs the themes the impeccable vibes. Have you sat down and listened to “guide my sword”? Have you heard “the friends’ song” and heard the guitar and horn in conversation with each other in a light and playful dance, much like Inigo and Fezziks’ friendship? Mark Knopfler is a legend. A legend I say!!!!

ALASTOR X FEM!READER (SMUT/18+) - Good To Be Back on The Air!

Fandom: Hazbin Hotel
Word Count: 654
A/N: Love the idea of Alastor broadcasting a mf live while pleasuring them. Enjoy. Unedited, so apologies for any spelling mistakes. (Minors please click away)
Tumblr media
Alastor has always wanted to show off his prized possession: you. He wanted to make people WISH they could even look in your general direction without possible harm from The Radio Demon. If Alastor had mind reading abilities and could hear somebody even think they had a chance with you, he'd split them in half within seconds.
You were his and he was about to make that abundantly clear to a large audience.
Alastor's voice boomed throughout the hotel as he yelled your name, ushering you to come to him. You quickly got up from your task and rushed up to meet him in his radio tower, opening the door and closing it behind you.
Alastor was reclined in his broadcasting chair, final checking his microphone and equipment for today's broadcast.
"Hello, my Dear!" he said as he swiveled around to face you, his legs crossed and his fingers tapping his knee mischeviously. "Do I have a special treat for you today."
You were about to ask him what he had in mind before the chain that binded you to him appeared around your neck. You fell to the ground from the sudden force and he started pulling the chain towards himself.
"Crawl to me." he commanded.
You nodded and crawled towards him, as he kept tightening the chain. You stopped at his feet and he stopped winding up the chain.
"Such a good girl! Now... open wide and listen to me, Doll."
You opened your mouth and he slipped his thumb inside, caressing the side of your face with the rest of his hand.
"I'm heavily inclined to give my lovely loyal listeners a real treat during today's broadcast. I want them to hear those beautiful noises you make for me. Do you think you can do that for me, Doll?"
You nodded your head, whimpering as you do so.
"Good! Now strip."
You did exactly as you were told and stripped naked.
He undid the zipper on his pants, pulling you up by your chain so that you could straddle his lap. He wouldn't let you sit on his cock yet, so you just grinded against his thigh.
"What a needy little dear you are! Give me one second." He kissed your cheek before he started his broadcast.
"Salutations ladies and gentlemen! What a wonderful night to be with you all, as I have a very special guest with us tonight! Usually I keep this one ALL to myself, but, I'm feeling rather generous! I think you'll find her pretty little noises music to your ears."
At that, he pulled your chain so that you were right over his cock before slamming into you directly to the hilt, making you scream out in pain and pleasure.
Alastor held his microphone staff next to your head to pick up the sounds better. He started thrusting up into you at a very rapid pace, growling and nipping at your throat in the process.
Your moans caused a lot of feedback into the microphone from how loud you were.
The Radio Demon bucked up into you like it was the last time he'd ever feel Heaven again in his entire life. He tugged your chain so your foreheads touched, him forcing you to keep eye contact with him.
"Cum for me princess. Cum for the audience. Show them how I OWN YOU."
At that, you screamed out his name and came all over his cock and he came at the same time. He didn't loosen his grip on the chain as you rode out your high.
He brought the microphone back up to him.
"Thanks for listening folks! Hope that brought a wonderful smile on all of your hellish faces. Ta-Ta!"
He turned off the broadcast and kissed your cheek tenderly.
"That's my good girl."
Also Vox was listening in on the broadcast and now he's crying alone into his Alastor body pillow so yeah

anna <3 honey <3 hiii <3 i have a request if you’re up for it?
inspired by your latest shy!reader x eddie fic where it’s her first day at hawkins high— shy!reader being all heart eyes for eddie who pretty much worships the ground she walks on but somehow is oblivious to her feelings even though he flirts constantly just to see her get flustered. he doesn’t notice she’s only all sweet and giggly and nervous around him, though. she’s generally extremely shy so eddie figures that’s why, but it’s truly because she’s head over heels for him 🥹 a cutesy friends to lovers
harmonia my love !!! thank u sm for requesting i hope u like it this one’s for u <333 (the other shy!reader blurb) | 0.7k of fluff and shy!reader
You walk the unfamiliar halls in search of your next class. So far, unsuccessfully.
There’s a debate in your head: is it more embarrassing to be late to your class because you couldn’t find it, or to ask for directions like you’re a tourist in a new city?
You figure that embarrassing yourself in front of a class full of people is much, much worse than just one person. The next part is just figuring out who to ask.
Deciding to avoid any groups (even looking at them makes your heartbeat jump a little), you scan the hall for anyone that looks approachable.
For some reason, you land on the boy with long, dark curls and a tattoo of bats on his forearm. Yeah, super approachable. He’s alone, leaning next to what you’re guessing is his open locker.
You force your feet to carry you towards him.
“Sorry, could you maybe tell me where English is?”
“Wha- oh.” Eddie turns around to find you, a face he's never seen—a pretty one, at that—talking to him of all people. “Hi. Yeah, why don’t I walk you?”
“You don’t have to do that.”
Your voice is soft, quiet enough that Eddie probably wouldn’t have heard you if he wasn’t so focused on listening.
“Who’s your teacher?” You tell him, and he smiles, “me too. See, I’m going there anyway. It’s no problem.”
It’s then that you’re hit with the realization of how attractive he is. His eyes and the lashes that frame them, the smile that’s extra sweet compared to his style, the guitar pick that hangs from a chain around his neck.
The best you can do then is nod, untucking your hair from behind your ears to try and hide your face.
“So, why’d you move to Hawkins?” He asks, shutting his locker and nodding for you to follow him.
“Um, for my mom’s work.”
“Yeah? Do you like it here?”
“It’s different.”
You stick to short answers, not because you don’t want to give him better ones, but because you’re terrified of doing something you’ll kick yourself over for days.
“That’s one way of putting it,” he says, sending you a wink.
You laugh softly, a girlish giggle. It’s music to his ears, and he plans to draw the sound from you again and again.
You nod, looking down at your feet in the silence that follows, unsure how to fill the gaps. In your distraction, you bump shoulders with someone. A boy, probably an athlete, because it’s enough to knock you into Eddie.
He holds your upper arm gently to steady you, his hand warm, his rings cool.
“Sorry,” you say quickly.
“Don’t worry ‘bout it. You okay?”
“Oh, I’m fine.”
Despite your answer he keeps his hand where it is. He’s not dragging you along, nor is his hold tight. It’s so soft that you peek down at your shoes again to hide the look on your face.
Eddie thinks he might have dreamt you up. You in your sweet dress and mary-janes. You with a small smile he wants to see widen. He thinks you’re adorable, and he plans to keep talking if only to make you cutely flustered again.
He drops his hand from your arm when you make it to the door of your classroom to hold an arm out welcoming you inside. You miss the warmth of it.
You sit down at the back of the class, in the corner closest to the windows, hoping it’s not somebody else’s spot.
Eddie follows you and sits atop of your desk until the bell rings.
The teacher walks in and seems to notice Eddie’s presence right away, “Munson, what are you doing in my class?”
“I thought you had this class?” You whisper. He sends you a wink in return.
“Just visiting, sir,” he says, standing up and letting the attention fall on him. He can tell you’d be uncomfortable if it was on you more than it already is as a new student. Besides, he’s used to it, even if it’s usually in a negative way.
“Get to your own class, won't you?”
Eddie salutes, strolling to the door seemingly without a care at all. You watch him the whole time, and just before he turns the corner, he looks over his shoulder and smiles at you.
Did he really lie about being in your class just so you’d let him walk you? You sink down in your chair and smile at your desk.

Love your two works! Could you write something about Matt dating a girl in college and his reaction to meeting all her friends?
Tumblr media
BELLA NOTTE
Tumblr media
𝐩𝐚𝐢𝐫𝐢𝐧𝐠: matt x reader
𝐬𝐮𝐦𝐦𝐚𝐫𝐲: your college friends have been asking to meet your boyfriend for a while. he’s visiting for a weekend, but the downside is that he’s terrified to meet them.
𝐰𝐚𝐫𝐧𝐢𝐧𝐠𝐬: anxiety, cutesy fluff
𝐰𝐨𝐫𝐝 𝐜𝐨𝐮𝐧𝐭: 865
𝐚𝐮𝐭𝐡𝐨𝐫'𝐬 𝐧𝐨𝐭𝐞: thank you anon! i hope you like this. i loved writing it :)
Tumblr media
the laughter died down after a few minutes, you and your two closest college friends hanging out in their dorm. your friends sat in their assigned bed while you sat in the beanbag in the corner. it was thursday night on your lovely college campus.
“so y/n.” your friend jasmine starts, throwing her now empty soda bottle with the food bags scattered in the middle of the room. “when are we going to meet that boyfriend of yours?”
you smile, a light blush forming on your cheeks. you go to school in LA, meaning that visits to matt or vice versa are easy. the only thing is that jasmine and sage have yet to meet him.
they ask about him a lot, and your answer is always ‘soon.’
however, matt is supposed to come tomorrow and stay the weekend.
“for real, girl. i’m starting to think your delusions are getting to the best of you and he’s not real.” sage jokes, licking her spoon with ice cream on it.
“he is real.” you say. “lucky for you guys, he’s coming to visit for the weekend tomorrow. i can tell him you guys are dying to meet him.”
the duo let out girlish squeals. “this is so exciting! he sounds like such a good guy.” jasmine smiles over at you.
you return it and nod. “he is.”
Tumblr media
matt knocks at your dorm door in the late afternoon, making you spring up from your bed and open it. “matt!”
“hey, baby.” he greets, pecking you on the lips before entering your single dorm.
he sets his backpack down next to your bed and rubs his sweaty hands on his pants. “so, uh… when are they coming?”
“around seven. we still got a few hours.” you walk over to your bed and sit. you scan matt’s face, and you can tell he’s nervous.
the lip-biting, the hand fiddling, the looking at the ground.
“you have nothing to worry about, love,” you reassure, grabbing his hands and rubbing your thumbs on them to calm him.
“i know.” he sighs, sitting down beside you. “can we watch lady and the tramp?”
one thing about matt is that whenever he’s feeling anxious about something, he turns to binging disney movies to distract him. it’s one of the many qualities you love about him because even at twenty, he doesn’t let the kid in him go.
the closer seven rolls around, matt’s fiddling and lip-biting don’t get any better. your head rests on his chest, the both of you facing the small TV you have. you can hear his heartbeat.
“talk to me, matt,” you say calmly, being that all you hear in your ear is the erratic pump of his heart.
“is it stupid for me to be so scared?” he asks lowly, playing with your hair.
you lean off of him so you can face his front. he has a look of worry on his face, and it makes your heartache.
“not at all. it’s normal to be nervous when meeting new people.” you stroke his face with your hand, and he leans into your touch. he kisses your palm.
“if you get too anxious, i can ask them to leave. they won’t mind at all.”
he exhales. “thank you.”
bella notte starts to play on the TV, and the music makes you smile. out of all the binging disney movies with matt, this song has to be your number one.
“listen.” you exclaim, pointing to the TV. “it’s going to be a bella notte. a beautiful night. trust me, okay?”
your disney reference forces the cutest smile on his face and he nods.
you kiss him on the head and as if on queue, a knock floods the room. “come in!”
sage is the one to walk in first, jasmine following behind. she glances at the TV and gasps. “omg i didn’t know you guys were watching a movie. we can come back when it’s over—”
“not at all.” matt smiles at them. he takes your hand in his and squeezes. “why not watch it with us? i’m matt, by the way.”
“i’m sage, and this is jasmine. it’s so nice to finally meet you! y/n doesn’t shut up about you.”
“sometimes it gets a little too intense.” jasmine says, but in a joking manner.
“sorry, i love him,” you say coldly. you hear matt giggle.
the girls get comfortable in chairs and join you guys in the movie.
as the minutes go by, you sense that matt starts to calm down a little. the whole time his hand is in yours, playing with the ring he got you for one of your anniversaries.
he chirps into some conversations, and the night is better than you can imagine.
matt wakes up the next morning to the sun beaming through your curtains. what he didn’t wake up to was you.
he looked around the dorm room, but you were nowhere to be seen. he groggily reached to his phone to see if you texted him but instead found a note on top of it.
he started to read the small piece of paper, smiling like a fool while doing so.

pairing: nanami x reader (sfw) summary: you and nanami take a few days off work. oh! yuuji is there too! wc: 2.3k
Tumblr media
the wind hitting your face was great, even though your hair was getting a little messy. the music playing on the radio was slightly different from what you used to listen, but it was also good. somehow, you even caught yourself humming along the music.
you looked at kento, his usually tense shoulders, now a bit more relaxed. some strands of his blond hair rocking according to the breeze. his dark sunglasses falling a bit on the bridge of his pretty nose. he looked really good while driving.
you almost forgot where you were.
"can we make a quick stop, please? i need to go to the bathroom" itadori shyly asked, raising his hand like he always did in classroom.
kento sighed, looking at the boy through the car mirror "didn't i told you to go back there at the jujutsu school?"
just two hours had passed since you three had left the jujutsu grounds, nanami didn't plan to make any stop at all. he was aching to get to your destination.
"yeah, but i didn't want to go back there" itadori pouted, and you giggled "i can't control" he tried to reson with your husband.
"a little stop won't hurt anyone, i guess. let's strach our legs a bit, kento" you were quick to get on yuji's side.
nanami glanced at you for a moment before changing the route.
"thanks nanamin!" itadori said happily "thank you mrs. nanami!" he quickly added.
you send him a smile before whispering a soft 'thanks' to your husband.
you weren't planning to take yuji to your little vacation, but things just happened before you could control them.
after a day full of work at the jujutsu school, you just wanted to go home back to your husband, but where you were leaving your office, you had encountered itadori quietly sitting on a banch. and you couldn't ignore the ache in your heart seeing him all alone.
against your desire to see kento, you went to know what had happened to the boy.
"hey yuji!" you greeted sitting in the space near him. just seeing someone else already made his eyes fill with happiness. "what are you doing here?" you asked smiling.
"hello mrs. nanami!" the sparkle in his eyes faded a bit thinking about your question "everyone is on mission, and i didn't want to go the dorms, so i decided to come here".
the realization made you sad. besides his friends, he had no one else to be with.
against your better judgment, you invited yuji to have dinner with you and kento. well, you were sure nanami wouldn't mind having one more person at your house. at least you expected that.
"really?" he asked surprised. "i don't want to bother" he looked down playing with the sleeve of his sweater.
your smile only got bigger "nah, don't worry, i'm sure kento will be pleased with your company" you reassured.
that night you, nanami and, yuji had a really enjoyable dinner together, the time wich was usually filled with a low talk, was actually full of laughs, itadori stories, and a grumpy kento trying to act composed in front of his student (he was still a bit mad that you didn't warn him about your guest. he could have made something nicer!).
"we can't leave him all alone, love!" you tried to reson with your husband, but he looked unreasable.
on the other night, yuji let slip from his lips that he was going to be alone the following week, because everyone had missions to go and he was the only one who couldn't go.
right on the next morning you were trying to convince kento to bring his student on your little vacation. you just couldn't bear the idea of leaving the happy yuji at that empty and sad school.
'what if someone from kyoto tries to attack him?' you were playing with all your carts, but kento wasn't having it.
"let me see if i got it, my love. you really want to bring one student from the school you teach at, to the vacation you're taking because you wanted to be away from school business?" he said trying to get you to your right nerves.
but you weren't having it either. "yes, this is what i want, please kento" you claped your hands in front of your face "he's a good boy and i know you like him too. it will be fun!"
nanami sighned. he would regret his decision. "alright, if this is what you want, love."
well, this explained your currently situation. even though kento wasn't a hundred percent sure about this, you knew that he was happy. deep down, he liked yuji just as much as you did. maybe more.
"itadori, while you go to the bathroom, we'll be at the convenience store" nanami parked the car in front of some ramdom store "do you want something from there?" he asked, but the boy was desperate to go to the bathroom, so he quickly dismissed his tutor before running out of the car.
"we better grab a snack for him" nanami agreed with you.
already at the convenience store, you were looking around searching for something yuuji would like to eat, é hile kento was grabing something for him too.
"you know that for him anything you get will be good right?" kento said behind your back, scaring you in the process.
"but i want him to eat because he likes, not because 'anything will be good' you mimicked your husband's, trying to get on his nerves.
kento sighed at your behavior, giving you a quick pinch on the tight "i don't talk like that" he defended himself.
"of course you don't, husband" you weren't paying attention to him anymore, only focusing on guessing which of the snacks yuji would like the most.
after a couple of minutes you finally picked one. or more than one, just in case. now you were judging kento's choice of snack. really, he made the same choice a lady in her 50's would make.
"i'm ready!" yuuji appeared from nowhere.
"itadori, get something for you to drink and go to the checkout" nanami said leaving you two behind, tired of your judgmental stare at his bred. couldn't a man only eat his bred in peace?
you patted yuji's shoulder before running after kento. even though he was in a grumpy mood, he slowed down so you could catch him up.
smiling at him, you said "you're such a father material" your comment made him stop, looking at you with a confused face "you act all serious and composed, but you're just a softie."
"and you are a tease material" he whispered when you got closer to the cashier.
you were happy to just admire your husband paying the things and lightly scolding itadori when he took to long to choose his drink. but you were defintly not happy to watch the cashier shamelessly flirt with your husband.
even someone like itadori had notice the cashier trying to get kento's attention. if looks could kill, the woman would be dead by now. the same way she was staring your hasband's arms and hands, you were glaring at her, but you were trying to send her an warning.
"do you want anything more, wife?" nanami asked looking directly at you, and nothing made you happier than the cashier’s reaction. 'you should close your mouth dear' you thought eyeing the woman.
"thank you husband, i'm satisfied."
after some minutes, the three of you were back to the car, finally heading to the final destination.
you stared at nanami, admiring your man.
"her hair definitely needs hydration, maybe she should get some tips from you mrs. nanami" itadori knew how to get on your best side.
"you're right yuuji" kento agreed giving you a nod.
a new music started and you immediately recognized the song playing on the radio. a band you used to love when you were younger.
"damn, yuuji, can't believe you're into music like this!" you exclaimed turning your body to face the boy. a childsh smile spreading on your face.
itadori got surprised by your sudden reaction "yeah, i've been listening for the past few weeks" you could see in his eyes that he was getting as excited as you "do you like?"
"you have no ideia!" the car now was full of your giggles "when i was your age, i was a freak for this band!" you remembered you old days as a student at the jujustsu school. "do you remember kento? you hated their music cause' it was the only thing i used to listen to."
nanami smiled. of course he remembered. he was so jeaulous of that band because they had all your attention. he never said that out loud though, he just pretended to be sick of their music.
"of course i do love. even though i don't think their songs are that great."
you and itadori frowed at your husband statement. "what do you used to listen to, nanamin?" kento went silent, but you started to laugh.
"oh, yuuji, your dear nanamin was into something different, something more emo" your laugh only got louder at itadori and kento reaction.
"what do you mean?" the boy asked curious.
"this isn't necessary love" your husband tried to restrain you. now, he was regretting all the decisions his young self had made. just like he was regretting his decision to bring itadori to your vacation. maybe he didn't change that much like he used to brag so much.
you were already picking you phone to show yuuji some photos "nah, i think it is" you pick one of your favorites. the first picture of you and kento. you both were standing awkwardly close to each other, while gojo was in the middle, putting you two in a hug.
you were kind of weird too, your hair with a weird cut, and your clothes were definitely the wrong size, but nothing was more different than nanami and his emo phase.
handing the phone for itadori, you looked to your husband, catching the red in his face that he was trying his best to hide. but you were also looking for his permission to show the photo. he concieve in a quick nod.
"this is you nanamin?" yuuji were almost screaming in pure shock "what happened to your hair?"
kento tried to explain that the haircut was trendy ten years ago, but itadori was still in denial. you got the opportunity to show more pictures of your old days.
"gojo sensei looked like a leek" in the photo, satoru was standing with his arms glued to his body, you didn't remember the context in which the photo was taken, but gojo seemed akward.
one more time your giggles filled the car "yeah, he was really skinny and tall, and his hair was like, totally spike. i'm glad that we all changed" you said glancing between nanami and yuji.
after one hour, your little group finally hit the destination. your parents' beach house. it was a small house, but it was really close to a reserved beach. everything was so comfy, ir almost brought back some childhood memories of yours. perfect destination for you and kento. and now, for itadori too.
"let's get inside" you guided the two men inside. they did all the hard work to bring your things inside and settle up.
you made a house tour for itadori, making sure he was feeling welcome. the last spot was his bedroom. your own childhood bedroom.
"make it your home, yuji" you decided to let him alone to adjust his things, also, you needed some alone time with kento "we'll call when the dinner is ready"
itadori seemed like he had something to say, but you wouldn't press him to talk.
"i'm really grateful for everything you and nanami are doing for me, i don't know how to repay you" even tough he was talking, his eyes stayed glue to his feet on the floor.
your heart warmed. "just have fun, it's enough for us" you closed the door.
approaching your husband, he was already starting dinner. you could see cutting some vegetables when you walked down the aisle.
"is everything already my love?" kento asked hearing your footsteps "we have to go to the supermarket, but tonight i'm improvising with what we packed"
you didn't answer him, happy to just hug him from behind. "thanks. for bringing yuji." you hugged him harder.
with little effort he turned to face you. one of his hands on your waist while the other was firmly on your face, keeping your eyes on him.
"i like him too. he's a good boy and deserves to be a child" he was being sincere, spilling what was inside his heart. "and i love you even more because you are so good with him. i should be the one thanking you here"
you caressed the hand on your face, tears almost spilling from your eyes "you are such a good man, kento. i'm luck for marrying you."
you were so close to him. you wanted to kiss his glossy lips.
"let's continue dinner, itadori must be hungry" nanami said pulling away from you. now, a pout in your face, and a smirk on nanami's face. that bastard, he knew what he was doing.
"you know, if i didn't know better, i would ssy that you and yuji were actually son and father" you said from you stop in the small kitchen.
"you wish we were.”
yeah, you kind of wished that.

you’re okay
Tumblr media
summary - you’re anxious but harry will always be there
a/n: im so nervous about hslot tomorrow so i thought i’d write this <333
“There he is!”
An encore of cheers for Harry fill the room as he runs in all sweaty, taking a short ten minute break before his encore.
His all black outfit is something to make you melt from how hot he is. You don’t even think he actually understands how gorgeous he looks right now. His hair is disheveled from running around on stage and his clothes are sticky with sweat.
You want to go up to him and give him a hug and a kiss for the show so far, but your anxiety roots you to the sofa.
You don’t even think you have anything to really be anxious for, but sometimes your nerves and shakes come over you when you least expect them. Your chest feels like it’s hollowing and your stomach feels like it’s swimming with butterflies. They’re both horrible feelings and you can’t seem to stop them. The shake in your hands in your only tell, to other people, as well as your bouncing knee.
Harry hugs a couple of people and he’s passed a water bottle by Brad. He guzzles it down quick and thanks him afterwards.
He then spots you, sitting in the plush velvet couch that he brings on tour with him. A sofa you both picked out together and Harry can’t be apart from.
Harry is quick to crouch down in front of you, putting a ring-filled hand on your knee to control the nervous tremors.
“Baby, what’s got you all anxious?” He asks softly, trying to keep his volume low so people don’t start to listen in.
“I don’t know.” You say, teary eyed slightly. “No. I’m fine, i’m fine.” You shake your head defiantly, convincing yourself more than Harry.
“It would be okay if you weren’t fine, you know?”
You nod your head and notice your foot now bobbing away because your knee couldn’t.
Harry keeps his focus on you. He doesn’t deter for anyone or anything.
“Sorry. I’m sorry.” You begun shaking your head instead and look down at where your fingers are fiddling with each other. You furrow your eyebrows as you try to think of ways to keep your tears back.
“I don’t need an apology, baby. If you need to apologise to anyone, it’s yourself, because you should be kinder to yourself.”
He moves in a little further towards you, using another hand to cup over your smaller ones. He holds onto you tight, grounding you.
“Sorry.” You barely whisper.
“I have to give fifteen more minutes of myself to all those people out there and then i’m completely yours for the rest of the night, okay?”
“Completely?” You look at him with hopeful eyes.
Normally Harry is busy whisked away to complete various business tasks or music recordings after his shows, but his words carry hope that it’s just you and him tonight.
“Absolutely. We can do whatever you want. The Harry Potter movies are on Netflix now, we could do a marathon? Or just watch ‘Goblet of Fire’? I won’t even get jealous when you fawn over Cedric.” He giggles and you can’t help but give a small laugh back.
You take the time to notice your hands have stopped twitching now, thanks to his, and your leg bounces are a lot calmer.
“Can we get a Dominoes takeaway too?”
“I’ll ask Jeff to call it in now, so it’ll be ready for us at 10:30, okay?” He squeezes your hands for reassurance. “Just promise me you’ll be okay for another 15 minutes. I’ll be as quick as possible.”
“I promise. I feel better now anyway.” You smile genuinely.
“Good.” He leans over to kiss your hands softly.
“H? We need you back now.” A member of the crew calls for him across the room.
“Go be brilliant.” You tell him.
“Go be brave.” He replies.
He stands up and leans over to kiss you, promising a proper kiss when he returns. For now you just enjoy a little kiss with your sweaty boyfriend.
He kisses the top of your head before turning to leave the room, screaming as he leaves; “I love you Y/N!”
All because of Harry does your anxiety slowly disappear and the warmth spreads over your heart once more.

party's over
words: 1.1k
warnings: drinking, partying, throwing up (due to drinking too much)

“come on, y/n, i think that’s enough.” rafe tries to take the shot out of your hand but you don’t let him, ducking underneath his outstretched arm to tip the shot back, not even feeling the burn of the alcohol anymore in your drunk state.
“i’m fine.” you say, staggering slightly as you head towards the group of people dancing, wanting to move along to the music as well, especially with your best friend right at your back discouraging you the whole time.
rafe has been looking over you ever since you were kids, and you get no greater pleasure than to disobey him, especially when you’re drunk. the pouty angry face he makes causes you to crack up, poking at his cheeks and calling him names.
“no, come on, you’re too drunk to dance.” rafe tries to stop you, but you head into the crowd, knowing rafe is watching you from a distance as he stomps over to complain to topper. you twirl around to the music, by no means dancing gracefully as you find some friends among the party attendees, grabbing their hands and jumping with them through a couple songs before you get the urge to drink more.
you’re thankful the party is at rafes house, knowing he’ll let you sleep over without question. you spend as much time in his guest bedroom as you do your own. you stagger out of the crowd, hoping to get to the bar before rafe can stop you.
you grab a bottle of liquor from behind the counter, serving yourself as you tip some into a solo cup, about to take a drink when rafe comes behind you, pulling it out of your grasp.
“hey.” you pout, turning to frown at rafe, bottle still in your hand. “i was about to drink that!”
“i know.” rafe smirks, drinking out of your cup, causing you to gasp. you are admittedly way farther along than rafe is.
“you’re so mean.” you frown, and then get an idea when you realize the bottle is still in your hand, rushing away from rafe before he can process what you’re doing as you flee away from the patio area and into the yard, taking a sip right from the bottle as you glance back, seeing rafe got held up talking to someone, but his eyes remain on you as you down the alcohol.
you head towards a cluster of trees, knowing there’s a bench you can sit at until rafe catches up to you. you stumble forward, turning just in time to land rather hardly on your bum on the wooden bench. you drop the now empty bottle on the ground, head spinning as you look for rafe.
you must have blacked out slightly because you don’t see him walk up to you until rafe is right there. “y/n, shit, i told you not to drink that much!” he shouts, taking your face in his hands as he tries to get you to focus on him.
you attempt to focus your eyes but you suddenly feel the urge to throw up, pitching forward and pressing your knees into the ground. rafe acts quickly, gathering your hair into his hands as you throw up onto the grass.
“shh, it’s okay baby, let it out.” rafe says, rubbing his hand over your back.
you spit onto the grass to get the taste out of your mouth before sitting up, tears in your eyes. you hate throwing up, and rafe knows that, which is why he tries to control your alcohol intake.
“i’m sorry.” you whimper, leaning into his chest.
“it’s okay.” rafe says, still rubbing your back as he presses a kiss to the top of your head.
“you’re not mean, you were trying to look out for me, i’m sorry for not listening.” you say, letting a few tears fall onto his shirt.
“come on, lets get you to bed.” rafe stands up, taking your hand in his but you just pout and reach up with both your arms. rafe lets out a little laugh, bending down and picking you up. you wrap your arms and legs around him, resting your cheek against his shoulder, turning your face into his neck to feel the warm skin there.
“everybody out!” rafe shouts as he heads back onto the patio. “partys over.”
you hear a couple groans, but nobody argues with rafe, especially as he carries you inside and up the stairs, bringing you to his room instead of the guest room.
“do you have to throw up again?” rafe asks, depositing you in the bathroom.
“no, i have to pee though.” you say, and rafe nods, heading out of the bedroom. you sway but make it onto the toilet, taking care of yourself before washing your hands, having to lean against the counter to not fall over.
“done.” you say, and the door reopens to show rafe now dressed in pajamas, holding out a pair for you to put on.
you try to reach out for them, but you can barely move your hands. “can’t.” you just say.
rafe doesn’t say anything, just steps in and picks you up, carrying you towards the bed. he sets you down on the edge, taking off your metallic top, putting his big tshirt that he lets you use as pajamas on over your head, keeping his eyes turned away the best that he can, even though he’s seen you in just your bra plenty of times, you’re drunk and he doesn’t want to take advantage of you.
he takes off your bra from over top of the tshirt, pulling it down your limp arms. you lay back once you’re in the shirt, lifting your hips as rafe tugs your skirt off, his basketball shorts going on quickly to cover your underwear.
you pull yourself up so you’re laying the proper direction on the bed, your head on rafes pillows as he pulls the blanket over you, water and ibuprofen already on his night stand as he rounds the bed, getting in on the opposite side, not wanting to leave you alone overnight in case you woke up to get sick again.
“cuddle.” you say, scooching closer to rafe. rafe pulls you into his body, knowing you like physical contact when you’re not feeling well, or in this case, drunk.
“i love you.” you hum, resting your cheek against his chest, fingers playing with the material of his shirt.
rafe is silent for a moment before he squeezes you against him. “tell me that in the morning when you’re not drunk out of your mind, baby.” “mmkay i will.” you hum, turning to press a kiss to his chest. “because i mean it.”
“love you too.” rafe whispers.

Sorry for any mistakes, slightly proofread
Tumblr media
you were up in your room listening to music while alastor was downstairs having a couple of drinks. the loud bass ricocheted off the walls and you were in your own world when you heard the doorknob fumble. confused, you shouted “who’s there?” over the music. with no response, you were about to get up when your tall, lanky man finally managed to get the door open and stumbled into the room.
you took a good look at him as he stood a little passed your doorway. his face was flushed a bright red, his eyelids slightly lowered. his hair was a mess and his knees buckled inwards like a fawn just learning to walk. his overcoat was even off and nowhere to be seen, which was highly unlike him. and the most surprising part, his smile was so soft it looked like it was about to slip.
he stood up a little straighter, and with a slightly lopsided smile, he finally managed to get out a drunken, “hi, sweetheart.”
you laughed a little and started to get up to help him. you hung your legs over the side of the bed and placed one foot on the floor. as you were about to put your other foot to the ground, his ears shot back, pinned down to his head, and he shut his eyes tight.
“wait. what is that… horrible noise?” you laughed again and started to make your way towards him, “it’s my music. you don’t like it?” you put a hand in one of his and placed another on the small of his back to help him balance. “hah. music? well… you could have fooled me.” static noises replaced your music for a second, and then it promptly turned off and was replaced with soft jazz. “much better.” you scoffed and looked at him softly. you’d never seen him this drunk, but even looking a mess you could manage to fall in love with his face all over again. and the look in his eyes told you that he probably felt the same about you.
you broke the silence and shut the door behind him and put out a hand, gesturing to the bed. “alright bambi, let’s sit you down.”
you walked him over to the bed, and even though it was only a few feet from the door he managed to stumble a couple times and you caught him, laughing softly each time. you helped him sit down and then you stood over him.
You put a hand under his jaw and lifted his head so he could look up at you. “i’ve never seen you this drunk. you’re a bit of a mess, al.” his face flushed an even brighter red and his eyes quickly trailed off to the side, it was clear that he was embarrassed and when his eyes met your bedside mirror, they widened and it became apparent to him he was very untidy looking. “i look..” he hiccuped in between his sentence, “terrible.”
“it’s alright baby, no you don’t” you kissed his cheek tenderly, and looked at him for a second as he continued to look at himself in the mirror, analyzing himself and brushing himself off.
you got on the bed and crawled over to the middle, laying down. he turned his head backwards, and his eyes quickly found yours again. “come lay down,” you gestured, patting your chest.
he positioned himself on the bed and crawled over to you. he straddled himself on top of you, sitting on your hips and looking down at you, just staring at you for a moment. you felt a fluttering heat pool down in your stomach. you could’ve sworn he was giving you “fuck me” eyes, but maybe he was just being drunk. he finally bent down placed his head between the juncture of your head and shoulder. you softly ran your fingers through his hair and scratched lovingly at the back of his head and ears. he made quiet humming noises in approval.
having him on top of you and just holding him was great. but you couldn’t stop thinking about how he looked straddled on top of you, looking down at you.
“alastor” you said softly, removing your hand from his hair and placing it on his back, rubbing in small circles. his ears perked up at his name. “yes… my love?” he said half drunkenly and half tiredly. “sit up.” you sounded a little stern this time.
he paused for a second, and then slowly got up, his knees still bent and his hips still locked to yours. he looked down at you again, and it took everything in you to not rip his shirt off right there and then. you placed your hands on his thighs, just above his knees, and rubbed them up and down, never going too far up.
“what.. are you… what.. are you doing?” his eyes traveled down and he looked at your hands. “keep your eyes on mine.” without hesitation, he locked eyes with you again. this time as your hands rode up, you went a bit further, and stopped them as you met his mid-thigh.
“is this alright?” he nodded softly, still maintaining eye contact. just seeing him straddled on top of you was enough to get off.
“here’s what’s going to happen,” your hands slowly moved up his thighs, softly grabbing at them. you stopped at the top of his thighs, and gently pried them more apart. his smile widened and somehow you felt his gaze become even more stronger. you bit your lip softly and squeezed his thighs a little tighter. “i want to have my way with you,” your hands moved towards his inner thighs and his body shuddered a little. “but i want to make sure you’re comfortable.” you stopped moving your hands. “so tell me if you want me to stop.”
he let out a shaky exhale and quickly looked down at his thighs, and then meeting your gaze again. “please, keep going” his voice coming out slightly whiny. almost involuntarily, you pressed your hips up into his and spread his legs a little wider apart. you rubbed the insides of his thighs, getting close enough to his cock to almost make him wince each time your hands rode up. you were giving him too much yet too little at the same time.
here you were, with the radio demon straddled on top of you, whimpering and going dumb at just your touch. he may be intimidating to others, but you know just how to break him, and secretly, he loves it.
you got close enough to be able to feel his dick twitch every time you inched closer and closed towards it. “pleeeaaassee…” his ears dropped down again and the music switched off for a second, static filling your ears. “please what?” his hands met your sides and he softly pierced into your flesh, making you softly wince. he pushed his hips down and started grinding in between your hips. softly moaning, you allowed this to go on for a couple of seconds before grabbing his hips and holding him in place. “i already told you we are doing this my way.” his eyebrows furrowed and a bead of sweat dripped off his nose.
“poor baby. you can do it. just hold on a little longer.” you placed your hands back on his thighs. in response, he opened his legs up even more, making his boner press hard through his pants. you laughed softly, moving your hands back up and squeezing right below his desperate dick. his body shuddered and he started moving his hips on you again, softly groaning. “if you were embarrassed before, you really should be now.” you finally placed a hand on it. he bit his lower lip and blood trickled down his chin. you took your other hand, softly caressing the side of his face and then wiping the blood off his chin with your thumb. you brought your hand back down, placing your thumb in your mouth, and then releasing it with a “pop”.
“do you want me to make you cum?” he nodded his head quickly like it was a question of life and death. “awww,” you looked him in his pleading eyes as you unbuttoned and then unzipped his fly. you took both your hands and placed them at the top of his pants, and he raised his hips up to allow you to pull them down just below his cock. still maintaining eye contact, both your hands found his length, and you started jerking him off through his boxers. his stomach jutted out and in as he struggled to catch his breath. after only a couple of seconds, static filled the room again, this time more intense.
you took your hands off of him, and the static shut off instantly, and the music turned on again. “mmmm…” he sounded frustrated, and he was still struggling to catch his breath, his body was shuddering. “i almost finished…” you placed your hand back on him and he twitched in your touch. “i know my baby, have patience.” you pulled down his boxers and revealed his erection. his face flushed red again as he once more realized what a fool he was making of himself. a few drops of precum dribbled out and you positioned your hand back on his cock and smeared it down his tip. he bit his lip again, drawing more blood.
“f-fuck… please no more. i just want to be inside of you…” the signal of the radio flickered in and out as he tried to maintain some of his sanity. “i think… you’re going to drive me mad, my love” his body waved back and forth and jerked up with every stroke you gave to him. “i’m gonna work you up until you can’t take it anymore. and then you’ll get to cum inside of me.” you jerked him off a little faster, and his eyes rolled to the back of his head. “nope, eyes on me.” he looked back down at you and squeezed his eyelids, holding back tears. “does that sound like a deal?” he let out a long groan, and you couldn’t tell if it was out of pleasure or desperation, although it was probably both. “deal.”

Okay, maybe you shouldn't have drunk so much. Maybe you were too stubborn to take Sarah's advice and drink less, and maybe you were just realizing that now.
With clumsy steps, you got up from the bathroom floor after vomiting, heading to the sink washing your mouth and fixing your makeup. When Liam followed you like a dog the entire time at that party, you knew you would have to give him as little attention as he could let go of you, you just didn't expect to have to dance all night with him and be offered a kiss, and it was still 11 at night!
When he asked you for a kiss during the dance, all you could do was excuse yourself and go straight to the bathroom to escape the situation for a bit. The alcohol in your system should have given you the courage to refuse and maybe even finally tell him how unbearable and inconvenient he was being, but apparently all that drinking just made you more shy.
Locking the bathroom door, you were taken by surprise when the urge to vomit came out of nowhere, leaving you even a little more sober afterwards.
You sighed deeply when you finished adjusting, unlocking the door and walking slowly to the living room, where Liam was waiting for you. You saw him sitting on the couch next to Topper and a few other people you didn't know. When he saw you he smiled and walked towards you, hands stopping on your hips as if you were close friends or something else.
"Are you okay?" He asked, you didn't miss his peek at your chest, making you feel disgusted. You nodded, putting your arms around his neck reluctantly. You hated yourself so much at that moment for not speaking up for yourself. “So…” he continued after your lack of words.
“Do you wanna kiss me?"
You swallowed hard and looked away at Sarah on the stairs, holding the phone to her ear, as if she were on a call. “Look, Liam…” You bit the inside of your cheek, thinking of some way to politely decline.
Liam gradually lessened his smile, a frown appearing between his two eyebrows and he bit his lower lip when you took too long to respond. Suddenly, he took one of his hands from your hip to place it behind your head, forcing your mouth into contact.
You gasp in surprise, pushing at his chest trying to push him away. Until a sudden force separates the two of you, seeing Liam being pushed hard you look at the source of the confusion, Rafe with a deadly look at the boy. The brunette falls hard to the ground and Rafe points his finger at him, his voice showing his anger “Don’t lay a finger on her, you fucker!”
And so, he takes your hand brutally. Without much implication you let him take you, just confused and grateful for him getting you out of that situation.
Raffe led you out of the house, taking you away from the party. There was a look of anger on his face, and his grip on your hand was tight. You were grateful for him getting you out of there, and you didn't know what would have happened if he didn't. As he held your hand, you couldn't help but notice how strong and protective he was. He had always been there for you, even thou you were just his sister's friend.
He took you to his car parked in front of the party house, opening the door for you before going around and getting into the driver's seat. Rafe sighed deeply, closing his eyes and laying his head on the back of the seat, his fingers with rings touching his face.
Silence surrounded the car, only the party music muffled in your ears. You turned to look at him, trying to memorize all his features bathed in lunar light. "Are you okay?" You asked, voice not much louder than a whisper.
He sighed, removing his hand from his face and looking at you with a tired look. “I should be the one asking you that.” he brushed a strand of hair out of your face. "Are ya okay? Did he hurt you?”
Rafe looked at you with a concerned look, his eyes searching your face for any signs of distress. You shook your head slightly, but something about his gaze made you feel safe. He brushed a strand of hair out of your face again, and you were struck by how gentle his touch was. You glanced over at him, and a wave of heat rose within you as you saw how his strong fingers caressed your cheek.
You couldn't help but feel a wave of heat rise within you as Rafe's fingers caressed your cheek. He was treating you like a fragile flower, and the touch of his fingers on your skin made your breath catch. You wanted to look away, but his eyes were so intense you couldn't look away, they were like magnets. His gaze made you feel like the most important thing in the entire world, and you felt like you could melt into a puddle of goo right there on the seat.
Your breath slowed, and you felt the tension that had accumulated during the situation with Liam start to fall away. As Rafe's touch on your skin continued, you felt your tension melting away, leaving you feeling relaxed and at peace. His touch was a warm and gentle reminder that someone cared for you.
"I'm fine. But why did you come to the party anyway?” Confusion evident on your face as he had said he preferred to stay home when you invited him to the party.
“Sarah called, said some guy was bothering you.” he sighed, running his hand lightly over your face and then taking it away. “Look, I'm sorry if I was too harsh there, I just couldn't control myself watching the scene.” He explained himself.
You looked at him confused, why did he care so much? You noticed how rude he was to everyone, even his own sister, but with you he seemed like he had taken a tranquilizer, you can't remember even once that he had treated you badly. He seemed to hate everyone except you.
“Rafe,” You caught his attention, “why don’t you hate me?”
“Do you want me to hate you?”
He looked directly into your eyes, but you did not meet his, instead looking down, trying to control your nervousness. “I… I don’t understand. Why do you treat me so well? Why don’t you hate me like everyone else?”
He sighed deeply, looking out the car window. “Why would I hate you? I never hated you. I love you tomorrow, today and yesterday.”
“Love?!” Your voice caught on the word. It sounded strange to you, coming out of your mouth. For the first time in your life saw Rafe nervous, or maybe he was shy. What mattered was that you realized how nervous he was in your presence.
Summoning all your courage, you called him again, making him look at you. “Would you be mad if I kissed you?”
And with that, all of Rafe's forces were gone. All he could think was that he had been waiting for this for so long, and when the opportunity finally arrived he embraced it tightly. Rafe put his hand on your face and desperately kissed you, and you both felt all the emotions hitting you hard.
He held your waist and you jumped into his lap, your arms around his neck and his hand on your waist. Panting, the two of you broke apart, bodies and foreheads pressed together.
“I love you, [Name],” he whispered, his mouth touching yours, “tomorrow, today, and yesterday.”

you’re baffled, really. such a silly word but it’s the only one you can use. abby never really got into fights, that you’d known of. she was one of your best friends. and you never had the heart to tell her about what ellie had done, so how did she figure everything out? why are you spiraling? ellie probably said or did something to get herself punched. maybe this has nothing to do with you?
“and i’m very excited to introduce our next performers. watching them go from garages, to performing on stages, to signing record deals has been a beautiful journey. i’m happy to say i’ve been here since the beginning. now please make some noise for, seattle revival!”
you and abby are sat backstage as you dress her wounds. you wait to hear a familiar string of notes from jesse as he starts their first song, but you’re surprised by ellie’s voice on the mic.
“guys i just want to start the show off by apologizing to someone very near a dear to me. a very special person in my life who i’ve hurt—“
“we love you ellie!”
“aww i love you too. i want to say i’m sorry to her because i did some really fucked up shit in the past and i hope that she can forgive me and that we can move past it.”
the crowd cheers.
“and go back to being lovey dovey girlfriends. please forgive me babe. it’ll never happen again.”
abby’s mouth falls so far to the ground you could stick your fist in it. her face has never turned red faster. “what the fuck is she talking about? you guys were—are dating?”
you frantically shake your head. “no abby she’s lying. i don’t know what she’s gaining from it either. i think we should go now.”
“and this next song is dedicated to her—“ she points to you, an employee tugs at you to make you more visible, pulling you to the stage. a spotlight falls on you. everybody’s phone is up. everybody’s flash is on. here come the waterworks, fuck. didn’t you say you weren’t gonna cry today?
and then a familiar string of notes plays. jesse and dina catch on quickly, and your heart seeps. there was no way she was playing this song right now.
“when you were here before.”
you’re taken back to that first rehearsal. stuffed in jesse’s parents garage on a gloomy day. you were sitting on a scratched up couch, petting his cat. ellie looked over to you with a smile on her face. “you listen to a lot of music?”
you nod. “i love music. i was honestly so excited to hear you guys are starting a band. i’ll be your first groupie! handmade merch and everything.”
she laughs before whispering something to jesse and dina, then returning to the mic. “we’re gonna dedicate this one to our first groupie.”
“couldn’t look you in the eyes.”
dina and jesse slipped off after that practice and you knew they’d gone to go fuck somewhere, so you stayed with ellie. “they have no idea how to be discreet about it.” you laugh. she shrugs. “good on them, atleast i’m not alone dealing with it anymore.”
she’d convinced you to grab icecream with her. nestled in the booth of the old restaurant over an icecream sundae. soft music playing from its speakers. it was nearly empty, and it had started to rain outside.
“so how long have you known jesse and dina?” you ask, dipping a spoon in your side of the sweet treat. she grabs a cherry from the top, popping it into her mouth. “since we were kids in highschool. those are my best friends. i’m excited to be starting a band with them, and i’m glad i got to meet you.”
you blush.
you’re crying now. onstage, you’re crying. you can feel the tears slipping down your cheeks and underneath your chin. you wipe at them but they just won’t go away. she was so sweet to you a couple years ago. she was the sweetest person you’d ever met. how could you even compare the person singing to you now, and the person you’d met back then?
then you get a glimpse of her. it’s in her eyes. you’re flashing back between that memory and now. her hand in yours, running through the rain. catching the bus back to jesse’s. staying up and watching movies all night. waking up the next day to the lovebirds apologizing, while you and ellie laugh about it so hard your stomachs started to ache.
and you’re conflicted because this is the same ellie that got drunk at a party and threw up all over you. twice. then the next day said, “atleast it was better than what you’d been wearing.” jesus, she was addicting. she’d hooked you in and completely destroyed you. your self esteem. and now she was trying to play nice?
out of the corner of your eye, before you can catch it, abby is walking onstage. she takes a moment to look at you, tears streaming down your face, and decides to turn around. she walks away and it takes you a minute to follow behind. calling for her. begging her to come back.
“abby stop. where are you going?”
“no, just stop. you’re pathetic. why do you take the shit she does? don’t you have any respect for yourself?”
you’ve never heard her speaking to you this way. between your head rushing from the crying and the whiplash you’re getting from her harsh words, you feel like you’re going to pass out. “i don’t just take it abby. how do you even know about that stuff—“
“because jesse and dina told me! i’m supposed to be your best fucking friend but you can’t even communicate the simplest of things. the things i know are hurting you inside. i was gonna— never mind. fucking forget it.”
and then she walks away, disappearing into a hallway. fading away slowly like a ghost. body blurred from your tears. you feel your feet get weak first, then you drop to your knees and onto the ground. huddling within yourself. letting all your tears fall.
the “seattle revival’s last show after party” is one you refused to miss. with everything happening between abby and ellie, you were more than prepared to let it all go. to get drunk or high or whatever the fuck, and stop feeling. this very thought picked you up off that floor, and led you to the dressing rooms. you enjoyed the rest of the show from there, wiping at your face so hard you felt like it would bruise.
when the band found their way into the dressing room, dina and jesse rushed over to comfort you. “i swear i’d bash her head in if it didn’t interfere with the tour. i’m sorry, i shouldn’t be apologizing for her but it’s the only way you’ll get a real one. i’m sorry.”
you had sat with the pain for long enough. you’d cried enough. you didn’t know where abby was or why she said what she did but it was your breaking point. if you were a house, she had pulled a loose brick. making everything collapse within itself. and tumble over everyone else in its path. you felt like…ellie. the world had darkened. the small light, the tiny bits of happiness in you, had melted away. you didn’t care anymore.
you get up to face ellie, her smile fading when her eyes meet yours. everything had left them. all that purity. all that love, was gone.
“honestly i’m over it. let’s go to the after party.”

pairing... bf!hyunjin x gn!reader tags... fluff, established relationship, camping trip, hyunjin’s whipped your honor
hyunjin calls you a new pet name. a heartwarming confession ensues.
wc... 843 words a/n... this has been sitting in my wips for over a month 😨 chatgpt rated it "a solid 9 out of 10" after i finally revised it today so here you go!! i hope you guys enjoy it <3 also, icymi my taglist is open if you'd like to be added!
⋆。゚☁︎。⋆。 ゚☾ ゚。⋆
You and Hyunjin have been dating for only two months, but every date he's taken you on has been magical. He treated you as if you were his entire world like the true romantic he is. No matter how busy his schedule was, he would take the time to free it up to meet with you and make the sweetest, happiest memories.
This weekend, Hyunjin brought you to a campsite far away from Seoul. As beautiful as the city lights could be, he needed clear skies for what he had planned for you tonight. When you arrived, the scene that welcomed you was beyond beautiful. Several lanterns and fairy lights lit up a path on the ground, leading you towards a pink gingham blanket laid out on the grass, rose petals scattered around it.
"Hyun, this is beautiful." You ran towards the blanket, plopping yourself down and looking up at the sky. "Oh my god, you can see the stars so clearly out here!"
Hyunjin sat beside you, smiling at your excitement. "That's why I brought you here. I know how much you like constellations, so I wanted you to be able to see them in person," he said as he draped an arm around your shoulders, leaning his head on yours. "Plus, I know you get out of bed late at night and look outside the window when you think I’m asleep. You pull out your phone and use a constellation app to try and connect the stars—even if you can’t see them clearly because of the city lights."
A warm blush crept up to your cheeks when Hyunjin revealed that he had caught on to your little habit. You turned to give him a tight hug, sending swarms of butterflies directly to Hyunjin's stomach. Now, he didn't know much about constellations, except that you absolutely loved them. Automatically, that meant he loved them, too. Whatever you loved, he loved, because he loved you.
Looking up at the shining stars in the night sky, Hyunjin lay down on the blanket. You were lying beside him, propped up on your elbows. You pointed out your favorite constellations, tracing the lines in the air.
"That's Pegasus up there," your fingertip connected the stars, drawing the legs. "And next to it is Andromeda." You moved your hand to the right, Hyunjin's eyes following your every movement.
He didn't care if he didn't really understand what you were talking about. What mattered was the way your eyes lit up when you recognized another pattern in the sky or the way your smile grew wider when one particular star shined brighter than the others. Lord, he’s smitten.
There was music playing in the background, care of Hyunjin, and a slower song started playing. Standing up, he offered you his hand. "Let's dance, my love."
Taking his hand, you pulled yourself up. Hyunjin placed your hands on his neck and rested his own on your hips as you swayed to the music.
"My love?" You questioned the nickname as you raised your eyebrow, the corners of your lips quirking up into a smile. “That’s new, you haven’t called me that before.”
“Thought I’d try it out.”
“I like it,” you rested your head on Hyunjin’s shoulder, nuzzling your nose into his neck. Though it was faint, you swore you could feel his heartbeat quicken. “I like you, too.”
You continued to dance with each other, listening to the soft tunes in the background. After a few moments, Hyunjin subtly breaks the silence.
“I like you a lot. Like a lot, a lot.” He admitted as he placed his hand on your chin, gently angling your face up so he could look into your eyes. “I've never wanted to be with someone as much as I do with you."
Your gaze never left his. Tucked behind his irises was a whole galaxy, each star shining and burning bright with passion, just like his love for you. There was so much thought and feeling put into everything he said.
“I think...no. I know that I love you.” After his confession, Hyunjin patiently waited for your response, a nervous smile painted on his face.
Instead of replying, you reached up and pressed your lips to his, celebrating this tender moment with a kiss. Whenever Hyunjin kissed you, it had always been with purpose, with love, and this was no different. Except, this time it felt more intense, like there were more sparks than before.
Slowly, you pulled away and rested your forehead against his. “You have such a way with words, you know?”
Hyunjin chuckled softly, whispering back, “Yeah, I know. Don’t you have something else to say?”
“I don’t know, do I?” You asked teasingly. He playfully hit your arm, eliciting a laugh from you. Then, lowering your voice into a whisper, "I love you, too, Hyun.”
You spent the next few moments (seconds, minutes, hours—who knows?) dancing, wrapped in each other's arms. You were in your own little world with Hyunjin, and you would not have it any other way.

Pequeña | Kyra Cooney-Cross x Reader
Word count: 1.8k
Summary: you make stupid decisions but you got your girl in the end.
Warning: fluff, horrible self-care, fainting
My parents and I moved from Spain to England when I was 5.
I was a quiet kid with no friends, who spent most of her time reading or listening to music. At seven years old my parents decided to sign me up for my local football kids club to try and get me to ‘open my wings’, their code for ‘stop being a fucking loner we value popularity over smarts’. I haven’t seen them in 8 years.
Turns out I was fucking great at football and by 12 I was in the Arsenal Football Academy. At 15 I was playing for their Women’s team in the WSL and was debuting for England’s national team. I spent most of that time on the bench of course, but by 17 I had a large ‘1’ on my back and was starting 90% of games at Arsenal. I didn’t have many friends though, especially when I knew most would either leave to bigger leagues or transfer teams. I preferred it though because that meant I had plenty of time between training and games to study and read and play music.
Another 6 years later and I’m playing for England in the Semi-finals of the 2023 World Cup against Australia. I wasn’t our main goalie, but Mary had gotten a concussion so that left me and like hell I would let us lose this close to the finals. I’d nearly managed to keep a clean sheet until Sam Kerr came running up from halfway, past Millie and chipped it behind me into the goal. Despite the goal, we won.
As I’m walking toward the girls, I tripped over something, or someone, sitting on the sidelines near the tunnel. One of the Aussie girls, clearly tired and upset, curled up to their goalkeeper. If there was one thing I could do, it was recognise a phenomenal goalkeeper when I see one, and Mackenzie Arnold was just that.
“I’m sorry.” I whisper to her as I pat her shoulder and copy the gesture for the girl next to her.
I didn’t know much about her, but I’d seen her play. Her footwork was incredible, and she was clearly underrated and underestimated, something Arsenal could benefit from.
“Wanna swap jerseys?” it comes out soft, I almost miss it as I turn away. When I turn back around, I expect to see Mac offering her’s, but instead I see the younger girl looking up at me questioningly and I smile. I’d already swapped with Mac in a friendly earlier this year, and I love collecting jerseys from different players.
“Fuck yeah.” and within seconds she has my jersey pulled over her head, and it hangs loosely, clearly a few too many sizes too big for her.
I then pull on her’s, for a moment fearful it would be too small, but I’m thankful for her clear preference for baggy clothes as it slips over my torso. Mackenzie beckons over their photographer, and I pose with the still nameless girl. She’s small in comparison to my 5’11 stature and I giggle at the difference before offering her a piggyback for a silly photo.
As she jumps up, I notice shocked stares of my teammates from the corner of my eye but shake it off as she wraps her arm around my neck as if to choke me.
“Has anyone told you how small you are?” I ask her as I drop her back to the ground.
“They don’t shut up about it.”
“I think I’ll call you Pequeña.” I chuckle at her confused look.
“It means small in Spanish.”
“What the fuck!? Fine I’m calling you fucking Giant or something.”
I don’t get her actual name that night, but I look it up when I get back to my hotel room, Lotte missing from the space.
Kyra Cooney-Cross. An unexpected star.
I watch one of her games instead of doing my uni work and fall asleep to one her interviews playing.
~~~~~
I don’t expect to see Kyra until whatever friendly we have with Australia before the Olympics. In the time after the World Cup and before pre-season, I’ve hung her jersey in my hallway, along with all the others. I put her’s at the entrance with others like Mapi León and Christine Sinclair, people I consider special.
We also begin talking. A lot. I spend most of my spare time calling or texting her, but I don’t tell anyone.
The shock I get when the final minute of the pre-season transfer window approaches, and I get a notification from the Arsenal Women twitter account.
‘KYRA COONEY-CROSS IS A GUNNER✍️’
~~~~~
We’d been knocked out of the qualifiers for the Championship League and yet I walk into training on Monday with a slight spring in my step and excitement buzzing through me. I wave to all the staff and greet everyone, asking how the girls are when I walk into the locker room.
It’s Katie who asks.
“What the fuck is up with you Ms Dark and Broody?”
“Whatever do you mean?” I giggle.
She gives me and incredulous look before turning to the rest of the locker room who share similar expressions.
“W- wh- wh-” she continues to babble as Steph pulls her back to her cubby and pats her shoulder as a way of reassurance.
“You just… you’re never so smiley or talkative. At all. Like ever. Like in the past 8 years you’ve said maybe 100 words per season to me.” Lotte speaks up.
“Not true!”
“I’ve only seen you without a book off the pitch 13 times. I started counting after the 1st.” My jaw drops.
“She’s not wrong Y/n. You’re pretty reserved and stoic. Which there’s nothing wrong with! But it’s just odd to see you, well like this.” Manu points at me as if that’s explanation enough.
“Wow thanks gu-” I’m cut off by someone jumping on my back and screaming.
“BEANSTALK!” and I’m smiling all over again as I turn my head to see the young Australian I’ve been missing.
“PEQUEÑA!”
“I can’t believe I had to put up with your nerdy shit in person every day now.” She jumps off my back and moves to greet the other girls except for Steph and Caitlin who she obviously knows.
We don’t get much time to talk before Jonas calls us into the meeting room. He introduces all our new players like Kyra and Lessi and announces the return of Vivianne and Beth to our playing squad, before going over how we need to improve after our defeat in the Champions League.
“L/n, I know you just came 2nd in the World Cup but you cannot be slacking like you did in the game against Pairs. You’ve got to be doing more.” I don’t get to reply before he’s ushering us out onto the pitch.
I’m left in a sour mood the rest of training, once again avoiding everyone, including Kyra who seemingly found a close friend in Alessia. I had given my all in that game against Paris, but they were good, and I’d stayed up until 2am the night before completing one of my assignments for my uni degree, something Jonas had encouraged me to do.
I was more mad that he didn’t allow me to tell him why but either way, I’d decided I would be staying after training to practice until I couldn’t any longer. So I did. And I came in an hour early the next morning to get more training in. I continued to do this for a while, studying once I got home until I couldn’t keep my eyes open now that my usual study time was booked. Eventually the girls stopped inviting me for coffee or team bonding and Kyra stopped trying to talk.
We were playing against Man United when I began to sway side to side, and my eyes began to droop. I think Kyra noticed first while on the sideline, and whispered something to Katie as she passed by the bench, but nothing came of it until United got a corner. They didn’t even get to kick the ball before I crumpled to the ground beside a clueless Lotte and Katie Zelem.
I don’t feel myself get carried off the pitch or get transferred to an ambulance. I don’t think I recognise anything happening around me until hours later. The clock on the wall says 9:21 and I think I’ve only slept for a few hours, but then I notice the sun streaming through the curtains and realise the few might actually be a lot.
I then recognise the limp bodies spread across the room. The awfully sterile white room which is nothing like the warmth of my olive-green bedroom. I don’t think I’d been so slow to figure out what was going on in my life.
“Beanstalk! You’re awake!” I look to the small brunette who has been hunched over asleep next to me for god knows how long and smile.
“Hey pequeña.”
“You are so stupid!” Kyra slaps my arm and sends me a sharp glare.
“What the fuck is going on. You’ve been exhausted 24/7 and no one sees you outside of training.” I then decide to explain my rather stupid schedule and reasoning to her.
She stares blankly at me for a while.
“You are genuinely so fucking dumb. I was so worried about you.” She whispers.
“Why?”
“Because I love you.” Her eyes drop to her lap.
“Te amo.” I’m not sure she understands it but she smiles either way and leans in.
Just as our lips meet, Katie abruptly wakes up in her corner of the room and shrieks.
“What the fuck!” and we’re left to quickly pull away as she tries to wake everyone else up to tell them what she saw.
“Katie don’t be fucking ridiculous! They’re both sound asleep.” I hear Kim whisper shout, followed by more of Katie’s babbling about how we’re just pretending as they trail out of the room, assumedly getting coffee.
As the door clicks shut, I open one eye to glance around the now empty room. It seems everyone needed some coffee. Except a certain Australian, whose eyes also peak open.
“Kiss me.” And then her lips are on mine again.
~~~~~
I don’t play again until our game against Bristol for the Conti Cup. Jonas apologised for pushing me too hard but made it clear I was to properly rest before I get to do anything and makes Sarina Weigman promise not to play me during our international break.
Kyra also gets her first starting debut.
It’s a tough game, and in the 84th minute, Kyra drops to the ground. I nearly run to check on her, but she gets back up, and within another minute she gets subbed off for Vic.
The whistle blows, signalling the end of the game, we win 3-1.
I meet Kyra in the middle of the field, pick her up and swing her around. Our first proper game playing together seems like an obvious thing to celebrate. And before I can think, I’m leaning down and kissing her, something I’m not sure if I’ll regret later.
She smiles that smile, brighter than the sun, and I melt.
“Te amo pequeña.”
dear stranger, do you remember me too? // sunghoon
Tumblr media
When you were sixteen, you betrayed Park Sunghoon. Or he betrayed you. Whichever it was, you knew two things for sure: 1) kids were cruel, and 2) you would spend the rest of your life trying to make up your mind. Well, until you saw him again. It was a strange feeling, meeting him in the flesh even though his ghost had been haunting you for three years.
at a glance: childhood friends to strangers to lovers, reformed bad boy! sunghoon, university au, pure angst (i received High Level Clearance from @end-hyphen to put him through the wringer sorry), ft. hyung line
words: 12.3k
warnings: swearing, mild mentions of blood, sexual harassment, and fights (nothing serious), alcohol and cigarette use
——————————
For as long as you could remember, Park Sunghoon had been the centre of your solar system, the axis around which your universe revolved. You’d known him since the day you were born. You lived on the same street, four houses apart, and as the only two kids in the area you naturally bonded instantly with each other. He was your best friend, your confidant, your partner in crime.
As soon as you both were no taller than his coffee table, you spent nearly every day together at the playground behind your street, running through the neighbourhood blowing bubbles and chasing butterflies.
“Do you think we could both fit on the same swing?” You could still hear your voice, light and flowery back then, asking.
“Let’s find out,” his equally childish voice rang back, before he yanked you into his lap and struggled to get enough leverage with his feet to push you both off the ground.
That ended with you tumbling out of the swing and onto the tarmac just by the playground, scraping your knee. You both must’ve been only five years old then, but you didn’t cry, instead stubbornly getting to your feet and ignoring the blood trickling down your calf until you were back in the privacy of your living room.
He had carried you home on his back, even though you could walk just fine, and sat you down on the sofa while he cleaned your broken skin with a tissue.
“You can cry if you want,” he had said simply, in that innocent manner only kids have.
You were with him all the way through kindergarten to middle school to high school. Neither of you had many friends; you were both quiet and shy and somewhat rough around the edges. But that didn’t matter, because you had each other.
As you grew from toddlers to precocious children to teenagers, you continued spending nearly every day together. When you weren’t glued to each other’s sides in school, he was spending the night at your house after class, or you were playing video games in his room on weekends.
You always looked forward to Fridays. Sunghoon finished school an hour after you did and he would wait for you in an empty classroom. Afterwards you would take the bus into town and waste away the rest of the afternoon at the movies or in the arcade. You’d buy fried chicken for dinner and eat in your room, and he would spend the night. In the summertime, you’d climb up to the roof and stargaze and eventually fall asleep beside him, only to be rudely awakened by middle-of-the-night summer showers.
You had never known anything else but you and Sunghoon against the world.
——————————
When you were sixteen, things began to change.
“Do you want to do something special tonight?” Sunghoon asked. You were hanging out in your bedroom, him lying on your bed and you sitting on a bean bag on the floor, listening to music and studying.
“Like what?”
He grinned excitedly and handed you his phone.  “Jeongmin invited me to join him and his friends. He asked me to bring you, too.”
You read the brief text exchange and frowned. “Jeongmin? As in, iljin and leader of that gang of dickheads, Jeongmin?”
“He’s actually nicer than he seems, you know,” Sunghoon told you. “He said he wants us all to hang out.”
You gave him his phone back, incredulous. “Hoon, the four of them beat up Ahn Jinho so badly last month that he’s still in hospital. You can’t seriously be considering taking him up on his offer. He’s going to drag us out into a park and kill us.”
“I think he just wants to show us how to have fun. You know, live a little. Why else would he invite two nerd loners like us?” he asked.
“Because we’re weak, lonely, and easy to take advantage of?” you pointed out. When he didn’t respond, you sighed. “Do you really want to go?”
“I do.”
“Fine.”
He shook his head rapidly. “You don’t have to come if you don’t want to.”
“And let you get killed all by yourself? No thanks. We die together.”
——————————
You knew it was a mistake the second the conversation ended, but, as you said, you weren’t very well going to let Sunghoon go alone. And he was adamant, longing for friends, and desperate for an adventure. He clung to your arm as you walked from your house to the abandoned car park, thanking you repeatedly the entire journey.
Regret set in almost instantly. For you, anyway. Sunghoon seemed to be having a blast.
Jeongmin was already there waiting for you, with a case of cheap alcohol in his hand and his three lackeys in tow. You sat in the car park watching as Sunghoon drank and smoked with them, pretending to enjoy himself even though you knew he despised the taste of both of those things.
Jeongmin respected your assertion that you wouldn’t smoke (a shocker), but continued pushing you to drink the entire night. You fidgeted under his leering gaze, only growing more anxious as the minutes ticked by and he kept trying to ply you with alcohol, kept sitting closer and closer to you, kept returning his hand to your thigh no matter how many times you shifted away. Sunghoon didn’t stop him.
At the end of the night, you dragged Sunghoon back to your house and managed to get him up to your room without waking up your dad. He was wasted and reeked of smoke, incredibly lucky that his parents would just assume he’d spent the night at yours like always. You dumped him on your bed, aired out his clothes, and mixed honey and lemon juice into a glass of warm water for him to try and stop his cough.
“Did you have fun?” he asked, already changed into some of his sleeping clothes he kept in your room. His words were slurred and his cheeks were red, but he was coherent enough. “God, my throat feels like shit.”
“Because you smoked half a pack in one sitting like you were cosplaying as a forty-five year old weathered truck driver. Drink your honey lemon water,” you ordered, opening your bedroom windows so the cigarette smoke wouldn’t linger. “And no, I did not.”
He pouted but complied. “They’re not that bad.”
You took the empty glass from his hands and pulled the blankets up over him, touching his forehead. His skin was warm and flushed from the alcohol. “We’ll agree to disagree,” you said, heading downstairs to wash the glass.
“Lie down with me,” he whined the second you came back, somehow having managed to tuck himself into your bed like a sushi roll.
You switched off the lights and climbed into bed beside him, close but not touching. “I really don’t think you should be mixing with them, Hoon. They’re bad news,” you said quietly.
He’d fallen asleep before you ever got the chance to finish your sentence.
——————————
Over the next few weeks, Sunghoon started going out on more of these ‘adventures’. You stopped tagging along, but he still relied on you to shelter him in your room so his parents wouldn’t find out where he was disappearing to. And you continued to keep your phone right by your pillow while you slept so you could go bring him home if and when he called you.
He kept smoking around Jeongmin and his friends, even though he hated it and it made his throat itchy. You had started doing your own grocery shopping so your dad wouldn’t notice how fast the lemons and honey ran out nowadays.
When you and him were together, he acted exactly the same. He was still sweet, thoughtful, and just a little bit snarky. He still stuck to you in school, still waited for you every Friday afternoon, and still followed you to whichever new restaurant you wanted to try out on the weekends. He still lit up with a smile when you came by to his figure skating practice to cheer him on, much to the chagrin of his coach.
But whenever he went out to get wasted with Jeongmin and his gang and you had to go pick him up, you caught glimpses of the person he was becoming. He was picking fights and losing his temper at the smallest things, aggressive and hot-headed and dripping in machismo. No longer charmingly sarcastic with a gentle side, now he was just mean.
As soon as you two were back in your room, however, that all melted away. He would cuddle up to you, apologise, and thank you for always bringing him home no matter how ungodly the hour. If he woke up before you, he would tidy your room as a way to return the favour and leave a snack on your bedside table.
The snack was always accompanied by a yellow post-it note which he took from your desk (you didn’t even use those, but you kept them around specifically for him) with a dumb doodle or lots of hearts or both.
You weren’t happy about this development, but you didn’t do anything to stop it. It was his life, not yours. And you weren’t really in the business of speaking up about things that bothered you anyway. You kept your head down and your mouth shut, and stayed out of Jeongmin’s way.
Until one fateful Tuesday, about two months after the first invitation.
Sunghoon rarely talked to you about his newfound friends; he knew you didn’t approve of them and he didn’t want to upset you. This particular piece of news, though, was just too exciting to keep from you. After all, you were his best friend. He wanted you to be a part of his new life.
“Guess what the guys and I are doing on Sunday,” he said. You nodded for him to continue, somewhat distracted by the cinnamon rolls you were baking together in his kitchen, not entirely sure when ‘the guys’ had become a thing. “Jeongmin’s cousin is in town, and he has a fancy new car. We’re gonna hotwire it, drive it down to the cliff, and set it on fire.”
You stopped dead in your tracks, your jaw dropping open. “What? Sunghoon, that’s too dangerous.”
“That’s why we’ll do it at the cliff. There’s nothing around there that could burn down,” he explained, like that made it okay.
If it weren’t for his completely serious tone and expression, you would have thought he was joking. You set down the mixing bowl you were holding. “No, you could get hurt,” you said, adding, “And what if you get caught? That’s grand larceny and arson.”
“The guy’s an asshole anyway,” he said nonchalantly, not listening to you.
“That doesn’t make it legal, Hoon. Or safe. I’m serious. You can’t do that.”
He folded his arms across his chest, scowling. “You’re just jealous,” he said.
“I don’t want you to go to jail,” you corrected.
“No, you’re jealous I finally have friends other than you. Like, cool, normal, friends,” he snapped, angrier than you’d ever seen him.
Never in your life had he raised his voice at you. You pretty much never fought, aside from short bouts of time when one of you was upset for one reason or another, but you always smoothed things over through calm, measured conversations. Not arguments like this.
You paused, stepping away from the counter, from him. “Is that what this is about? I’m not good enough for you?” you asked, your voice soft.
He had never once indicated he was unhappy with your friendship, with your relaxed hangouts in each other’s houses and comfortable outings to cinemas and restaurants and bookstores. But clearly he wanted something else: to be cool, normal, and have friends that weren’t shy recluses.
You trusted him. He was your whole world, and you’d always assumed you were his too.
“That’s not what I meant,” he said, pulling back his words as you turned to leave. He followed you, pleading, “I’m sorry. I didn’t mean it.”
“I’m going home,” you stated firmly, rushing out of his house and slamming the front door shut behind you.
——————————
By Sunday evening, you cracked. You had been avoiding Sunghoon for the last two days, and both of your families had noticed. You couldn’t stop thinking about that night, if he would be caught, if he was going to be okay. There was no way you’d be able to talk to his parents without him finding out unless he was out at figure skating training, so you confided in your dad. And he called Sunghoon’s mom right then and there.
“You did the right thing, Y/N. I’m proud of you,” your dad said after he hung up, patting your head.
“It doesn’t feel like I did,” you mumbled, your insides twisting and twisting away.
“I know, honey.” Your dad rubbed your shoulders comfortingly, before offering, “Do you want to go out for ice cream? Take your mind off it? I can call off work.”
You clung to him for a few more seconds, then let go. “I just want to be alone for a while, if that’s okay,” you said, retreating to your bedroom while your dad left for his night shift at the plant.
You weren’t sure how long you lay in your bed staring at the ceiling in complete silence, numbed by guilt, before your bedroom door swung open and Sunghoon barged into your room. In your state, you hadn’t even heard him enter your house. You scrambled to your feet.
“Did you fucking snitch on me?”
He was in all black, with a graphic t-shirt over a long sleeved polo, ripped jeans, and boots. With his hair styled and jewellery on, he must’ve been ready to leave the house, because that was how he normally dressed to meet Jeongmin and his gang.
“Hoon-”
“I told you that in confidence,” he snapped, shutting your bedroom door. His eyes, narrowed in hatred, glowered at you. You walked over to him and reached for his hand, but he slapped you away, recoiling at your touch like you were a hot stove. “How could you do this to me?”
“I was worried about you,” you said, your tone begging, mollifying. You rarely saw him this angry, and never had that anger been directed at you.
“Bullshit. My parents just screamed at me for two hours. Jeongmin’s gonna be pissed at me,” he fumed. “You weren’t fucking worried about me. You didn’t want me to be doing things without you.”
You dug your nails into your palms, trying to stop yourself from crying. It seemed to work, for a while, anyway. “Is that how you see me? As a needy pest who won’t let you go?” you asked, each word a chore to get out, your eyes already stinging. Not from his words, but from the sheer contempt in his expression.
Had he really spent the last sixteen years so desperate to get rid of you, like you were a persistent barnacle on a ship that refused to leave? Did he hate you that much? How had you never known?
He took a step towards you. His eyes were cold, his jaw was clenched, and you couldn’t even recognise him. You stepped back cautiously.
“Oh, like you’re some perfect angel,” he spat through gritted teeth.
“I’m not. I just don’t want you to throw away your future. I-”
“You know what your problem is?” he shouted, cutting you off. He took yet another step forward, and you again stepped back. The backs of your knees hit your bed frame. “You’re a hypocrite. You hold everyone to such a high moral standard that no one is ever good enough for you. Not me, and not yourself. That’s why you fucking hate yourself so much.”
You couldn’t speak. Your heart was firmly lodged in your throat. For several agonising seconds, the only things you could hear were his furious breathing and your own heartbeat pounding in your ears.
“I think you should go home,” you finally said after a long pause. Your voice was shaking as you held back tears. “We can talk about this when you’ve calmed down-”
“Don’t fucking tell me to calm down!”
Sunghoon raised his hand to push back his fringe, but you didn’t know that. Because when his hand came up, you flinched.
He lowered his hand immediately, only then noticing that he’d backed you into a corner. Instead of shock or anger or hurt, there was nothing but pure, unadulterated fear in your eyes.
“Did you think I was going to hit you?” he whispered, stepping back.
You squeezed your eyes shut and turned away, walking to your open window and resting your hands on the windowsill. “Please leave,” you said simply, fighting to keep your voice stable as tears began to roll down your face, not looking at him.
He stood and waited for a minute, watching you. You could feel his gaze. But when you refused to turn back around, he sighed and left. You heard your bedroom door close, and then your front door a few seconds later, and then it was so, so quiet.
——————————
You and Sunghoon avoided each other like the plague after that fight, although that torture hadn’t lasted long. Within two weeks, he’d withdrawn from school and vanished. His parents told you he’d gone to a boarding school in a different town, but they didn’t say where or why.
You never saw him again.
Being in your hometown for those last two years of high school was difficult for you. Having to live just down the road from his family home, constantly surrounded by all of your old haunts, made it hard for you to get him out of your head.
After high school you’d gone to a small university to do your first year with a conditional offer from your dream school in your back pocket. You needed time to save up money, and you were hoping to secure a scholarship with your first year grades.
You’d been lucky enough to make a new friend, Heeseung. Like you, he was only in that university temporarily to work his way into a scholarship. Your relationship was initially one of convenience and comfort — neither of you were particularly keen on mixing with the other students you never planned to see again after your first year — but you quickly became genuine friends.
You kept each other motivated, and both managed to secure transfers before your second year started. In fact, you’d done so well that your then-university had begged you to stay, offering you scholarship after scholarship and full fee remissions. But you both turned them down. You had loftier ambitions.
Once you moved away to university, things got better. Of course, the vestiges remained. You still had Sunghoon’s Spotify playlists in your account, your shared arcade membership card in your wallet, and some of his socks mixed in with your own. Before you fought he’d borrowed your favourite pair of red shrimp socks, and now you were never going to get them back.
But you didn’t think about him nearly as often as you used to. He was no longer a ghost living in your head, but a will-o’-the-wisp that occasionally caught your eye when you saw something that reminded you of him.
And now you and Heeseung were standing in the foyer of your new dorm with nothing from your past but a small suitcase each, in the university you’d been chasing your entire lives, ready to start your second year.
“We made it,” Heeseung whispered to you, still not fully comprehending it all. You were really here.
“I don’t think I’ve ever been this nervous in my life,” you whispered back.
“Me too. If we weren’t roommates I’d be shitting bricks by now.”
The school had been gracious enough to allow you and Heeseung to live together in a small apartment within the music students’ dorm, since you were pretty sure at least one of you would have gone bonkers if you were separated. You would be sharing the floor with another similar apartment housing three students who would meet you in the foyer to help you move in.
Right on time, one of them (you presumed) came bounding down the stairs excitedly. He broke into a broad smile the second he saw your suitcases, his originally stern-looking features softening instantly as he did.
“Are you the transfers? Nice to meet you! I’m Jay. We spoke on the phone.”
You spoke up first when it became clear Heeseung was far too anxious to talk. “Hi! I’m Y/N, and this is Heeseung. Nice to meet you too.”
“Welcome aboard,” Jay said, easily picking up your suitcase before you could object. Heeseung fumbled for his own. “My roommates are just finishing getting your apartment ready. I hope you don’t mind.”
“Shouldn’t that be the school’s job?” you asked, following him up the stairs.
“This place can be a bit of a circus, believe it or not,” Jay remarked, making you and Heeseung exchange glances. When you reached the fifth floor, not a single hair on his head was out of place even though your bag was heavy as fuck.
“Thank you,” you said.
“No problem. That’s us over there,” he said, pointing to the first door on the level, “and this is you guys.”
The apartment was modestly-sized and simple, but clean and otherwise perfect. Jay introduced you to his first roommate Jake, who was sitting at the kitchen counter when you arrived.
“Thanks for setting all of this up for us. It must’ve been a lot of work,” Heeseung said, finally speaking after you elbowed him in the side (be normal, man). “You’ve been so helpful.”
“It’s nothing. Jay and I both transferred here last semester too, so we know how hard it can be,” Jake said kindly, waving away your gratitude. “Our other roommate did the same for us back then.”
“Speaking of which, Hoon! Come out here and meet the new students!” Jay called.
A third voice came floating from down the corridor. “Coming!”
When the aforementioned roommate emerged from the corridor, your heart stopped. Your blood turned to lead in your veins. Your ears began ringing, the sound so loud it washed away almost everything else.
You could barely hear Jake as he said, “Hoon, these are our new neighbours, Heeseung and Y/N. Guys, this is-”
“Sunghoon,” you finished. His name came out of your mouth, but it didn’t sound like your voice. Your hands were numb.
“Y/N,” Sunghoon said, at the exact same time.
Although he was taller now, with a broader frame, a sharper jaw, and a deeper voice, it was still him. He was frozen in shock, looking right at you, unblinking. He had on a white t-shirt that read ‘rise above’ that he’d had since the first year of high school — you bought it for him for his fifteenth birthday. It had been massively oversized on his thin body back then, but now he filled it out nicely.
Right there, as you stood in the kitchen of your new apartment, all the guilt and heartbreak and mourning that you thought you had left behind in the child that died three years ago came rushing back to you, squeezing the air from your lungs.
And in that moment you were reminded yet again of the lesson you had spent the last three years of your life learning day after day after day: movies lied.
The real heartbreak was never the big fight. It was every time after when the other person crossed your mind in idle thoughts or memories, every time you saw or heard something that reminded you of them, every time you pulled up their contact on your phone and read the distant timestamp of your final conversation.
It was every belonging of theirs they left behind in your childhood bedroom, and everything you owned that had been a gift from them. It was every food you ever ate together and every song you ever listened to together and every place you ever went to together.
It was every time they reached out from beyond the grave and touched some part of your life and you had to lose them all over again.
You looked at him, and he looked at you. His eyes hadn’t changed at all. You were sixteen once more: standing in his kitchen making cinnamon rolls, locking your bedroom door behind him after the last time you spoke because you were scared he would return, desperately running away from him in the school halls.
He glanced down at your hands, your fingers laced together to hide the fact that they were shaking. You had a habit of doing that when you were nervous. Around your left wrist was a silver bracelet, one that he’d gotten you on a whim six years ago. You still had it. And you still wore it. And it was you.
Jay smiled cheerily, oblivious. “Do you guys know each other?”
——————————
Your first week of your second year was amazing. You were finally at your dream university in your dream major, with a full-ride scholarship under your belt and your best friend right by your side. It was everything you and Heeseung had worked so hard for.
The building you lived in was a dorm just for music scholars, a small, close-knit group of under thirty students. Most of them, like Jay and Jake, also bled money.
But your experience was somewhat soured by one thing: Park Sunghoon. He was everywhere.
Of course, that was to be expected. It was a small cohort, the only new friends you’d made so far were his roommates, and you were literally neighbours.
After the day you’d moved in, neither of you had spoken a word to each other. You ran into him constantly, and you were always going to classes and grabbing lunch together, but you’d never talked to him directly. He was just always there.
On Thursday, as the five of you left a lecture together, Sunghoon politely excused himself. “I won’t join you guys for lunch today. I need to pick up something from the shops.”
So you found yourself sitting in the food court with Heeseung, Jay, and Jake. When the conversation naturally fizzled out, it was only quiet for a few seconds before Jay clapped his hands together and asked, “Okay, I’ll bite. What’s the deal with you and Sunghoon?”
You looked at Heeseung for guidance. On that first night, you’d already told him everything. He shrugged.
“Uh- well. We grew up together, and when we were sixteen we had a falling out,” you answered cautiously.
“Then you lost touch?” Jake frowned.
“You could say that,” you said, reaching for Heeseung’s hand under the table and adding, “I think Sunghoon should probably be the one to tell you the rest, though. When he’s ready.”
——————————
At Heeseung’s insistence (listen, you’re clearly still hurting over this, and it would be good for you to talk to him, at least), you bullied yourself into texting Sunghoon at the end of your first week. With trembling hands, you asked him if he would meet you in the botanical gardens on Sunday. He replied almost instantly: what time?
Waiting for him on a park bench, chronically early as you always were, you were bouncing your leg so much that the entire bench was shaking. The last time you’d spoken to him was over three years ago, when you’d pleaded with him to get out of your room.
You had drawn up an agreement with Heeseung that morning: if things went south, you would send him an S.O.S. message so he could come by and pretend to whisk you away to tend to an Urgent Apartment Matter. You even programmed your phone to text him automatically if you pressed your power button five times in a row. He called you ‘insufferably paranoid’, which you took as a compliment.
Sunghoon was a minute late, and, by the looks of it, just as anxious as you were.
“Hey.”
“Hi.”
He sat down next to you, a polite distance away. It was almost like how you used to sit in your neighbourhood park late at night after you’d aged out of the playground, eating convenience store ramen together until a concerned stranger or annoyed police officer told you to go home.
You both looked around for a while before you couldn’t take it anymore and bit the bullet. “How have you been?” you asked, stilted.
“Good. I’ve been good.” He cleared his throat and rubbed his sweaty palms on his jeans, nodding at nothing. “What about you?”
“Good.” You paused too, searching your brain for something to say.
“I went to military school,” he blurted out, knowing you were too polite to ask him directly. “Um- for the last two years of high school. That’s why I disappeared.”
Military school? So the rumours floating around the town had been right.
“Madam Choi kept asking me about you,” you told him after a while. Madam Choi was the sweet, grandmotherly owner of the convenience store on the corner of your street who always asked how you were doing and chastised you for eating too many snacks even though your unhealthy diets kept her shop afloat. It was the only topic you could think of that wasn’t too painful to bring up.
Sunghoon laughed at that, a sound you hadn’t heard for years. He loosened up, and you did too. Your awkwardness gradually began melting away as he told you about Jay and Jake, about his time at military school, and about all the cool spots in the city you should check out. You told him about Heeseung, your previous university, and how you didn’t know how to navigate your new university’s portal because it was designed to frustrate.
Conspicuously, neither of you brought up the past. Reminiscing was off the table, an arrangement implicitly reached between you two at some point during the conversation. Even when you finally worked up the courage to ask what you’d been wanting to ask for the last three years, you still couldn’t bring yourself anywhere close to acknowledging what happened.
“Are you still mad at me?” you asked.
Sunghoon didn’t hesitate for even a second, which made you smile. “No.”
As he continued talking, however, it became clear that he was considering every word he said before he said it. He was careful, deliberate, holding back.
“I’ve grown up since then,” he said slowly. “I haven’t been mad for a long time. Actually, I wanted to thank you for doing what you did. I could have been sitting in jail by now.” He clasped his hands together and turned to you. “Are you still mad at me?”
You were equally as assured and quick with your own response. “No. I was never mad at you.”
“You should’ve been,” he joked. “I caused you so much trouble, always waking you up in the middle of the night and crashing in your room.”
You laughed and shook your head. “I’m happy things worked out for you, Hoon. And that you got into university despite everything that happened,” you said.
“Thanks,” he smiled. Although the rest of him looked older and more mature, his smile remained the same.
“If I’d done those things I never would’ve gotten a second chance,” you mused, more to yourself than to him, but he heard it anyway.
Instantly, his mood soured.
“Okay, so did you rat on me to protect me and my future? Or because you were jealous? Because that sounds like jealousy,” he snapped.
Shit. You reached for your phone and pressed the home button five times. But he wasn’t wrong.
Yes, you had been worried about him as you’d said back then, but you were also jealous. Not of his new friends, but of his life. His parents were rich, and he had two of them. If he had gone out that night and been caught, there was a non-zero chance that he could have gotten off with a slap on the wrist.
His parents had the money to ship him off to a private military school for two whole years at the drop of a hat, and he’d been able to come straight to your dream university. If you had joined him and Jeongmin that night, you would’ve been locked up without question.
“You ruined my life,” Sunghoon hissed, his eyes now dark and his body tense. “Do you know that?”
“You ruined your own life when you were planning to commit arson and didn’t listen to me when I told you to stop,” you countered.
He set his jaw and turned away with a scoff. “I can’t believe you.”
In the distance, you saw Heeseung jogging over to you. He must’ve been hiding in another part of the park, waiting. You weren’t the only insufferably paranoid one, it seemed.
“This isn’t how I wanted today to go, Hoon,” you sighed.
“Don’t call me that,” he spat, standing up.
“Y/N!” Heeseung shouted as he reached the bench. His face fell the moment he saw the look in your eyes. “There is an Urgent Apartment Matter. We must tend to it right away,” he stuttered, grabbing your hand and yanking you to your feet before Sunghoon even had the time to blink.
The two of you ran.
——————————
You and Sunghoon had swiftly gone right back to ignoring each other, which was pretty impressive considering you were almost always together. Jay and Jake seemed annoyingly hell-bent on taking you and Heeseung under their wing — as fellow transfers themselves, they wanted to help you acclimatise — and Sunghoon didn’t have any other friends. So he was constantly with you in classes, at parties, or hanging out in your goddamn apartment.
He spent more time staring at you than he would have liked to admit. In between gaps in conversations, or when you were distracted by one of Jay’s dissertation-length speeches about some inane topic or stupid fact, he got the chance to really look at you for the first time in years. Every time he did he felt a strange ache in his chest. You were like an actor he already knew playing a character he’d never seen before.
“Dude, why would you even say that? You called them a hypocrite?” Jake chastised, when Sunghoon finally revealed the details behind your falling out in high school a few days after Sunday.
“I just can’t imagine you as that kind of guy,” Jay said, stunned. He was still trying to picture Park Sunghoon, the would-be arsonist.
Often, Sunghoon found himself staring not when Jay was rambling or Jake was telling you a joke, but specifically when you were with Heeseung. There was something about the way you two interacted that made his heart sting. You were comfortable with him, and he with you.
You knew he liked to sit on the inside of restaurant booths facing the door, and he knew your Subway order by heart. You kept track of the stock of his favourite drinks in your fridge, and he always had a spare charger in his bag for all the times you forgot to bring your own. You were so in tune with each other that you would tell when the other wanted to go home without needing to ask and built effortlessly on each other’s jokes. You even kind of talked the same.
“And then you said it again? Are you serious?” Jay groaned in frustration when he heard the park story. Everyone had noticed the considerable shift in mood between you and Sunghoon since Sunday, but no one had dared to mention it.
“They’re trying so hard with you, man. Why would you do that?” Jake sighed.
Sunghoon pulled hard at his hair, equally frustrated, and flopped face down on the sofa. “I don’t know! It just came out.”
There was a substantial part of him that kmew it was because he was scared he hadn’t changed. That he was still the kind of person who called their best friend a hypocrite and accused them of being jealous when they tried to protect him. That you could see that, and that Jay and Jake would realise it soon too.
The other day at the juice bar Heeseung bought you a warm honey lemon tea. When he ordered it, you and Sunghoon immediately looked at each other before turning away. Windows open to air out the stench of cigarette smoke. Your secret stash of lemons and honey. Yellow post-it notes on your bedside table. All the hours you spent taking care of him, even as he spiralled out of control.
You hadn’t even asked for it; Heeseung somehow knew you had a sore throat that day without you telling him. Apparently he could hear it in your voice, which was (according to him) slightly scratchy and hoarse. Sunghoon couldn’t hear a thing, though. You sounded the exact same to him.
It was clear that Heeseung was familiar with the person you were now, that he knew you, and he knew how to be your best friend. That was a skill that Sunghoon had lost years ago, and clearly he didn’t quite know you anymore.
At the park you hadn’t cried once, although he was sure the sixteen-year-old you would have. Perhaps you just cried less now. Perhaps you’d given up on him and no longer expected anything else from him but to be disappointed.
“You need to apologise to them,” Jake scolded.
“They won’t forgive me,” Sunghoon mumbled into the sofa fabric.
Jay threw a pillow at him. “No offence, Hoon, but from what you’ve told us I think you’re a pretty shit judge of character.”
——————————
You had the apartment to yourself that Thursday night because Heeseung had rented a studio to practise after-hours and wouldn’t be back till sunrise. Someone knocked on your door. When you didn’t answer it immediately, a painfully familiar voice rang out from the other side.
“It’s me.”
Dread was not an emotion you’d ever associated with Sunghoon, but it was all you felt when you opened the door for him. When you were kids he never waited for you to do so; he always just let himself in. You sat down at the kitchen counter together, side by side.
“Since when do you watch Queer Eye?” he asked, noticing your laptop screen.
“Heeseung introduced me to it,” you said, pushing a glass of water across the counter to him. His face darkened at the name, but you chose to ignore it. “To what do I owe the pleasure?”
Sunghoon bit his lip. “I wanted to say I’m sorry,” he started, wooden. While he’d seemed guarded and on edge on Sunday, now he seemed scared. “For what I said to you. And for- for everything.”
You sat rigidly on the bar stool, self-conscious, not knowing what to say.
“I had a lot of time to think over the last three years, and I realised I was insecure. I was so desperate to be seen as ‘cool’ and Jeongmin knew that. You were right; he was preying on me because he could tell how much I wanted to be a part of his world. You saw right through me because you knew- you know me better than anyone. So I lashed out at you.
“I tried so hard to put that part of my life behind me — I never told Jay or Jake about it, even — and when you came back I panicked. It was a reminder of all the fucked up things I did and the person I used to be. I didn’t want to have to deal with it, and I took it out on you again.
“I’m sorry. And thank you. For always being there for me to pick up the pieces. I never deserved that sort of kindness.”
He watched you nervously, waiting for a response. You reached for the rubber band around your wrist and snapped it. It didn’t hurt, but it helped to distract you. He glanced down at your hand, recognising another of your old habits.
“Stop doing that,” he chided, his eyes watering. At that moment, he sounded just like he used to when you were younger. You remembered him saying those exact words in that exact tone. Of all the things he had said, that was what made you want to cry.
“I missed you so much,” you finally admitted after a long pause, inhaling shakily. “I felt like I ruined our friendship. I never stopped wondering if I made the right decision, I- I thought I’d lost you forever.”
He wrapped his arms around you, hugging you tight. His hugs were just comforting as they had been when you were growing up. He was much stronger than you remembered, although perhaps you should have expected that. He’d changed his cologne since.
“You have nothing to feel guilty about,” he told you, stroking your hair gently. When you separated his eyes were shining with tears. He laughed, sniffling, holding your face in his hands.
“Can we be friends again?” you whispered.
“I’d like that,” he said, letting you go and hesitating for a few seconds before he next spoke. “Do you know what motivated me to change when I was in military school?”
“What?” You hugged him one last time before unconsciously reaching for your rubber band. Catching this, he raised an eyebrow and glanced pointedly at your wrist. You stopped, feeling scolded.
“The last time we talked back in high school, you thought I was going to hit you,” he began carefully. He took a deep breath, suddenly unable to look you in the eye now. “Seeing how scared you were, the fear on your face, I- I never wanted to make anyone feel like that again. Especially not you. I’m sorry.”
He’d started crying. He hardly ever cried when you were kids. You wiped away his tears with your shirt sleeve.
“Don’t be a stranger, okay?” he begged, clutching onto you with a vice grip. Between you and him he had always been the calm one, but now he was shaking and you could feel it.
You squeezed his hand. “I won’t.”
——————————
Something in you was repaired that day.
You were telling the truth when you said you had never stopped feeling guilty about what you did. Not being able to speak to Sunghoon after, not even knowing where he was or what he was doing, it had wrecked you.
For years you’d lived with the thought that the only person you’d ever trusted had always secretly resented you. Maybe everyone did — maybe you were a pest, a hypocrite, a loser. It made it hard for you to form new connections. Heeseung had chipped away at your defences for months before you felt safe enough to call him your friend.
But now you were sitting on the floor of Sunghoon’s living room, sharing a vodka Sprite with Heeseung while you watched the others play Mario Kart, and everything was fine.
You hadn’t spent too much time with Sunghoon alone, although the five of you were constantly together. Jake had even joked about blocking off the fifth floor from the other scholars and just leaving both of your front doors open to form one big apartment for the five of you. Functionally, it wouldn’t be that different from how you were already living.
“I’m hungry,” Heeseung piped up, pouting and nudging you. “Go buy me some chips?”
“Why can’t you go?” you asked.
“My head hurts,” he whined. If he was dehydrated, the smallest drop of alcohol could give him splitting headaches. “Don’t kick a man while he’s down.”
Before you could retort, Sunghoon handed him his Switch controller. “Hee, you play. I’ll go with them,” he offered.
“Thanks, man. Use my rewards card,” Heeseung said, handing you his wallet instead of just taking the rewards card out and passing that to you.
You used to joke that you could so easily max out all of his credit cards if you wanted to, but he swiftly pointed out that you also had a habit of giving him your entire wallet when he asked to borrow money or your transport card.
“I still can’t believe we've been in this city for just over a month and you already have six rewards cards,” you laughed, putting on your shoes.
As you and Sunghoon were walking out the door, Heeseung was still shouting, “Think of the points, dude! The points!”
The convenience store was just across the road from your dorm building, which was, as its name suggested, pretty convenient. Not as good for your heart health and nutrition, but whatever. It was drizzling slightly, but not enough for either of you to have bothered with an umbrella.
“Heeseung is so obsessed with collecting rewards points,” you joked, fiddling with his rewards card.
Sunghoon chuckled. “Is he always like that?”
You nodded. “Since I met him. You like him, though, right?”
“Yeah, I do. He’s fun,” he said. He wasn’t lying; he did actually like Heeseung. But he would be lying if he said your closeness to him didn’t bother him at all. Sunghoon didn’t want to think too much about the possible implications of his jealousy.
“I’m glad. I really like Jay and Jake, too,” you told him, pushing open the convenience store door. “I’ll go get Deungie’s chips, because he likes some weird obscure flavours.”
“I’ll get the normal stuff for everyone else,” Sunghoon said, asking, “the usual for you, yeah?”
You thought of the convenience store in your hometown, of Madam Choi, of your regular weekend sleepovers back in school. Rehearsed and practised, you two were in and out of the store in under two minutes. What did that say about either of you, that you were so skilled at buying snacks that you worked together like a well-oiled machine?
The drizzle was marginally heavier when you left. It was a short walk, but Sunghoon took off his white baseball cap and fixed it atop your head anyway.
“Thanks, Hoon,” you smiled. You never bothered fighting him when he did things like that for you; you hadn’t as a kid and you still didn’t now. He wouldn’t do it unless he wanted to, and he wasn’t the type to accept your refusals of help.
But it felt different years later, and you couldn’t quite put your finger on it.
“Why are you looking at me like that?” he asked, amused.
You quickly averted your gaze, not having noticed you’d been looking at him. “It’s just weird to have you back,” you said.
You’d had this conversation with him at least a dozen times over the last month. It still hadn’t quite sunk in yet that he was back in your life and you were back in his. That you hadn’t destroyed the life of your best friend by being a hypocrite.
Since then, you’d spent a lot of time thinking about the person you used to be: full of self-loathing and insecurity and fear that you would eventually ruin every relationship you had. Heeseung had been slightly hurt that you hadn’t told him about Sunghoon when it all happened. You admitted to him that you were scared he would think of you as a bad person.
Sunghoon smiled. “Is it a good weird or a bad weird?”
“It’s a good weird. I missed this,” you answered, holding up the bag of snacks in your hand. As was your usual routine, you carried the snacks and he carried the drinks, having immediately fallen into step.
He playfully bumped into you as you walked, though not nearly hard enough to knock you off balance. “I missed you,” he said, before reaching for his keys.
The conversation was the same, but the butterflies in your stomach were definitely a new development.
——————————
Since you reconnected, Sunghoon hadn’t been able to stop thinking about you.
“Dude, are you jealous of Heeseung?” Jay asked him one night, out of the blue, after you and Heeseung left their apartment to head back to your own. Well, it wasn’t entirely out of the blue; even he couldn’t deny that.
“Can’t I be jealous of my ex-best friend’s new best friend?” Sunghoon replied, already defensive.
“That’s not why you’re jealous, though, is it?” Jay pressed. “You’re posturing around him and you can’t stop looking at Y/N.”
“Shut up.” He was right, and deep down Sunghoon knew it.
He was never going to be your best friend again, and he wasn’t trying to be. Neither of you were the same people you had been three years ago, and you were different enough that if you met now, you probably wouldn’t have been close. You both had new friends, people who suited your current selves better.
He wanted to be something else.
“You need to tone down the staring, man. It’s getting a little too obvious,” Jake said. “Even Heeseung mentioned it to me the other day.”
Sunghoon swore under his breath. “He did?” Heeseung, of all people, noticing — had he mentioned it to you?
“For what it’s worth, I’m pretty sure they’re just friends,” Jay added, trying to be comforting.
Sunghoon sighed and finished his drink. It was a gin and tonic which he’d made so strong that it was basically straight gin with a drizzle of tonic water. He winced.
“I know, but they do everything together,” he mumbled, just barely self-aware enough to realise he was whining. “That used to be me.”
“They’re happy, you’re happy, and you guys are friends again. Isn't that what you wanted? Why focus on the past when you could be focusing on right now?” Jake asked.
“Because they trusted me for sixteen years and I basically told them I’d secretly hated them the whole time,” Sunghoon said, his voice rising. “I ruined them, and I’ll never forgive myself for that.”
Jay scowled and crossed his arms, kicking Sunghoon’s foot with his own. “You didn’t ruin anyone. They’re fine. You’re not the only thing that’s ever happened to them, and if you keep thinking like that you’ll never fully repair your relationship.”
Sunghoon stared at his empty glass. He needed another drink.
——————————
“It’s been two months since we moved here,” Heeseung told you randomly one day. You were at a ramen bar for dinner with him and Sunghoon to celebrate getting through the first half of the semester. Also, you were all out of food at home and neither of you were in the mood to cook.
“Has it?” You checked the date on your phone. Sure enough, he was right. You hadn’t even realised.
“It doesn’t feel like it,” Sunghoon said. You’d started looking at Sunghoon differently.
Firstly, he looked different. He towered over his former self, his shoulders were much wider than you recalled, and he’d lost some fat on his face, making his cheeks and jaw more angular. He wore his black hair longer than he used to and he didn’t have nearly as many dark colours in his wardrobe.
He’d always been good-looking, but you had never really recognised that before. Now, though, it was always on your mind. Now, when he smiled at you or fixed your hair after he put his cap on your head or leaned over you to plug in his laptop in lecture theatres, you got nervous.
His gestures had always made you feel warm and comfortable, but now they were also starting to make you feel shy. You’d never been particularly touchy with him even as kids — you shared beds with a wall of pillows in between you two — but now you couldn’t even bear the thought of holding onto his sleeve in a crowd so you wouldn’t get separated.
“Oi.” Heeseung kicked you hard under the table and pointed at your nearly empty bowl. “Earth to Y/N. Are you done?”
They were both staring at you. How long had you been zoning out?
“What? Yeah, I’m done. Did you say something?” you asked.
Heeseung laughed and pressed his index finger to the top of your head, pretending to push you down like a button, which he always did when he was making fun of you. He definitely knew what you’d been lost in thought about (do you know how much Sunghoon stares at you nowadays? I think he hates me).
“Heeseung said he’s meeting Jay and Jake at the studio,” Sunghoon filled you in, much more helpful. “So we can go home, or if you want we can walk around some more.” He sounded expectant, like he was hoping you’d agree to the latter. You did.
——————————
Once you saw Heeseung off at the bus stop, Sunghoon brought you to a run-down building four streets away from the ramen bar. In the hip, fashionable district of the city, amidst the trendy shops and cafés, the mould and peeling paint and water damage of the building made it stick out like a blister.
You looked at the building, and then at him, and then back at the building. “Is this an assassination attempt?” you asked.
“Trust me,” he said, pushing the rusty steel door open with his foot.
“That’s not an answer. And your refusal to touch the door with your hands doesn’t exactly inspire trust,” you laughed, but you followed him with no hesitation.
It felt almost like when you used to go exploring the outskirts of your hometown by yourselves, far too late at night for kids your age. But this time, you didn’t have any snacks with you, nor games to keep yourselves occupied.
Sunghoon made a face at you and ushered you inside. “Shut up. I’m the city native here.”
“You’ve only been here a year longer than me,” you pointed out, looking around. The building wasn’t so much a building as it was a stairwell. Stuffy, dark, and dingy, it made you feel suffocated. “I’m going to die here,” you declared, sighing in resignation.
He rolled his eyes. “Oh my god. It’s not even that bad.”
As if on cue, the door slammed shut behind you, the sound echoing ominously in the tight space. What little light that had been coming in from the street lamps outside disappeared, except for a sliver of amber forcing its way through a gap in the door frame. He cursed under his breath.
“Hoon,” you called, desperately trying to spot him in the darkness, the rising panic clear in your words. “I swear, if I die tonight I’ll never stop haunting you.”
His reply came immediately, calm and measured, reassuring. “I’m right here. Give me your hand.”
You turned around at the sound of his voice and reached out blindly in front of you, hitting his shoulder. He found your hand and took it in his, the feeling of his palm against yours somehow soothing and stressful at the same time.
“You’re still scared of the dark?” he asked, joking, trying to ease your fear.
He used to scold you all the time for always sleeping with your light on, but no matter how many articles he sent you about why sleeping in the dark was important for healthy melatonin production, you never listened. Whenever he slept over in your room, he used an eye mask.
“Shut up, please.” Your voice was quiet and unconvincing; actually, you wanted nothing more than for him to keep talking. You couldn’t see anything, and all you had to ground you was his voice and his hand in yours.
He squeezed your hand, softening his tone. “I’m sorry. I didn’t realise it would be this dark. It’s worth it, I promise.”
He led you up three flights of stairs by the hand and walked face first into what you assumed to be a locked door. “Ow. Motherfucker.”
You cackled at that.
The room (if you could call it that, since it was barely bigger than a cupboard) was lit with a single filament light bulb hanging from the ceiling. Aside from a couple of cardboard boxes, some pillows, and a bean bag, it was empty.
“That’s your old bean bag. The one you had in your room,” you said, recognising the green fabric immediately. You tensed when he brushed past you to shut the door to the room (supply cupboard?), but you tried your best to ignore it.
“Yeah, I brought it with me. I get homesick sometimes, so it helps,” he told you, sitting down on the small pile of pillows. You took the bean bag.
“It smells worse than I remembered,” you said, patting it. He pushed you in retaliation, laughing at you when you lost your balance.
“I have snacks and drinks in this box, and comics and books in that one,” he explained. “I wanted to get a mini-fridge in here but there isn’t an outlet.”
This was exactly how you used to spend your weekends when you didn’t have to study: snacks, drinks, and reading. Except now he handed you a can of hard seltzer instead of his yoghurt drinks of yore.
“Is this legal? Does the building owner know you’re here?” you asked, somewhat sceptical. But you opened the can anyway and took a sip. It was warm, but not unpleasant.
“Of course. I’m a law abiding citizen.”
“You just jaywalked about ten minutes ago.”
“I’m generally a law abiding citizen.” He dug around in the box some more and produced a can of sangria (you despised sangria), gesturing to the room. “What do you think? Pretty cool, right?”
“Very,” you nodded, making yourself comfortable in the bean bag. You felt like you were in high school again, although you didn’t recall your spine hurting nearly as much then. Perhaps you were getting old. You needed proper back support now.
He kicked off his shoes. “Fuck off,” he laughed.
“I wasn’t being sarcastic!” you yelled, before you noticed- “My red shrimp socks!”
“Oh, right.” He glanced down at his feet and started casually taking the socks off. “Do you want them back?”
You gagged. “Not right now, dumbo!”
He used to be able to detect your sarcasm perfectly, always reading your tone with no margin of error, although it was probably unfair to expect him to still be able to after so many years.
“Come home with me,” Sunghoon said suddenly, still looking at his (your) socks. You looked at him, puzzled. “After the semester ends. We should go visit our families,” he added.
You thought for a minute and agreed. “I think my dad misses you.”
“My parents miss you too.” He leant back against the wall behind him, closed his eyes, and rested his head on your shoulder, declaring, “I’m tired.”
The room was so dark and small and quiet. His black hair tickled your neck, even though you could tell he was trying not to move around too much. You prayed he couldn’t hear how fast your heart rate had become. He’d always been a sleepy drinker, and you’d all been drinking pretty liberally during dinner earlier.
You tried to relax, as much as you could with his body pressed against yours, and closed your eyes too. So you didn’t see him reach for your hand until you felt his touch directly. He took your hand and pulled it into his lap, interlocking his fingers with yours and fiddling with your silver bracelet. You froze, your breathing shallow and your muscles tense.
“This is from that old charity shop behind the fruit store,” he mumbled, running the pad of his thumb over your knuckles. You could feel the vibrations of his throat against your shoulder as he spoke. “I bought it for you.”
“Hoon,” you said softly, your eyes now wide open. He hummed in response, still playing with your hand. “What are you doing?”
His reply was a non-answer. “I miss home.”
Tentatively, you lifted your hand to his head, stroking his hair in what you hoped would be a comforting gesture. He stayed quiet. His closeness was simultaneously the most nerve-wracking and most comforting thing. In all your life, you couldn’t ever recall sitting like this with him.
“Are you okay? Do you want to talk?” you asked, pulling your hand away, worried now.
He grabbed it and returned it to his hair, moving even closer to you. “That feels nice,” he sighed. His breath was warm against your neck, while the tip of his nose was cold. It made you shiver. “I’m fine. I just haven’t been home in a while.”
You felt terrible for never really having thought about what his two years in military school, being ripped away from his family at such short notice, must’ve been like. As far as you were aware he didn’t get to visit his family until he graduated, and you only knew that because you spent your own high school graduation period locked up in your house to avoid running into him.
Against your best efforts, the guilt came rushing back. You closed your eyes again and continued playing with Sunghoon’s hair, just how he liked it.
——————————
Two weeks later, you still didn’t know what to make of that night. You told Heeseung everything and asked him if you were going insane.
“Do you like him?” Heeseung asked as you two got ready to leave the house. You were going out to get drinks with the others.
“I don’t know,” you groaned, yanking the windows shut much harder than you had intended. He jumped at the sound, and you winced. “Sorry. I hate this, man.”
“Do you want my opinion?” he asked.
“It depends on what it is.”
He snorted. “I think you do like him and you don’t want to admit it. Why is that?”
You rushed to put on your shoes as he waited for you. “I just- what if this fucks up our friendship a second time? There’s too much history between us, right?”
“Well, your heart doesn’t seem to think so,” he said, opening the front door. The neighbouring front door opened too, at the exact same time, and out stepped Sunghoon. He broke into a wide smile the second he saw you.
Heeseung lowered his head and said quietly, “Clearly, he doesn’t think so, either.”
——————————
You were far too nervous to drink even after the forty minute journey to the bar. Heeseung’s words hadn’t left your head for even a second, and he could definitely tell from the way he kept grinning at you.
“Are you sure you don’t want any?” Heeseung asked for the third time, offering you his glass. You had the same taste in drinks, so you usually shared.
“I don’t feel like drinking tonight,” you said, again for the third time.
“Guess who else isn’t drinking tonight,” he teased, way too loud, nodding to Sunghoon and his glass of water. That didn’t even make sense.
“Shut up,” you hissed. Heeseung giggled, already tipsy, and leaned on you. Sunghoon caught your eye from across the table and smiled. If he’d heard what the other man said, he showed no indication of it. You smiled back.
Jake returned to the table, tapping Heeseung on the shoulder.
“I can’t do it anymore. It’s your turn,” Jake sighed, exasperated, collapsing into his seat. He’d been on wingman duty for Jay, and (apparently, because you’d never been unlucky enough to witness it yourself) Jay was a terrible flirt.
Heeseung picked up his glass, downed what was left in it in one gulp, and set it back down on the table with a loud thump. “Alright, here I go,” he declared. You watched him carefully as he walked over to the bar, but he didn’t seem too drunk yet. He’d be fine.
At the booth behind where Jay was, however, you saw someone else who made your blood run cold.
“Hoon, don’t turn around, but Jeongmin is here,” you began. Jeongmin was staring intensely at you. Sunghoon sat up straight in alarm. Maybe you looked familiar to him and he was trying to place you.
Jake, ever the quick thinker, said, “You guys should leave. I’ll stay and let Jay and Hee know what happened.” Sunghoon was still frozen.
“Thanks, Jake. Pass these to Heeseung for me.” You fished your keys (Heeseung hadn’t brought his own) out of your pocket to toss them to Jake, grabbed Sunghoon by the arm, and dragged him out of the bar.
“Aren’t you sober? Why don’t your legs work?” you grunted, trying to shake him to attention and pull him down the street at the same time. A passing car revving its engine snapped him out of it, whatever it was.
“Fuck, yeah. Sorry,” Sunghoon mumbled. Before you could even ask him if he was okay, what you’d been trying so hard to avoid happened.
“Park Sunghoon.”
You could pick out Jeongmin’s voice anywhere. It was low, rough, and sharp. He somehow looked identical to how he looked back in high school, if only slightly thinner and more tired.
“You. You called the cops on us that night,” Jeongmin hissed. jabbing an accusatory finger at Sunghoon.
“I didn’t,” Sunghoon stated calmly, but you could tell he was on edge. He subtly pushed you behind him.
“Yeah, right. On the one night we get busted the new kid just happens to not show up,” Jeongmin scoffed, taking a step towards you.
Sunghoon held up his hands. “Look, man, I don’t want to fight. I didn’t call the cops on you.”
Jeongmin squared his shoulders and punched him hard in the jaw without warning. The silver ring he was wearing drew a deep red gash across Sunghoon’s cheek.
As if on auto-pilot, like it was second nature to him, Sunghoon immediately returned the blow with a punch of his own before you even had the time to think. You gasped, Jeongmin’s nose cracked, and Sunghoon took advantage of the distraction to kick him hard in the knee, knocking him to the ground.
Then he grabbed your hand and ran.
——————————
The walk back to the dorm was silent. Sunghoon’s lips were pressed tightly together, his eyebrows were furrowed, and his fists were clenched like he was trying not to cry. You remembered the days when you, not him, were usually the one who needed comforting.
It reassured you to some degree, though, that he wouldn’t hide his sadness from you like he used to. You reached for his hand the second you were out of Jeongmin’s line of sight and threaded your fingers between his. His knuckles were bruised.
Wordlessly, he handed you his keys and you unlocked his front door.
“Do you have a first aid kit?” you asked.
“Under the kitchen sink,” he said flatly, sitting down on the sofa.
You pulled it out from the back corner of the kitchen cabinet with great difficulty, joined him on the sofa, and started cleaning the cut on his jaw. He winced when the alcohol swab made contact with his skin.
“Sorry. I’m almost done,” you promised, tossing the swab aside and covering the cut up. It took all of twenty seconds. “Do you want to talk?”
Sunghoon closed his eyes and sighed, dropping his head. “I shouldn’t have hit him. I thought I was past that behaviour. I don’t-”
He stopped talking. You put your hand over his and waited. His bottom lip started to quiver as he held back tears.
“I don’t want to be that person again,” he sobbed, and the sound broke your heart.
Through the school grapevine you heard about fights with kids of neighbouring schools, breaking and entering, the like. But even now, so many years later, you didn’t fully know what he did with Jeongmin and his gang. You never asked, and he never volunteered that information.
He was crying. “I let my parents down. Every time I see them I just remember how angry they were at me. I’m a terrible son. Nothing I do will ever be able to erase that I humiliated them, I failed them, I brought shame to the whole family, I-”
You pulled him into a hug, feeling how his body trembled as he fought to speak.
“You’re not a terrible son, Hoon,” you whispered, as he sobbed into your hair.
He shook his head and pushed you away. “I shouldn’t have hit him. I think I broke his nose,” he repeated, almost frantic in his insistence. It wasn’t a state you’d seen him in before.
“But he hit you first,” you noted.
Finally, at your childish response, he cracked a small smile. “Weren’t you always the one who said violence was never the answer?” he laughed. His eyes were still glistening with tears, but at least he’d calmed down.
“Usually it isn’t, but I don’t subscribe to universal codes of human conduct anymore,” you told him. “Do you?”
He paused for a bit, staring at you, unable to find the words to reply. You smiled, swiped the tears on his cheeks away with a gentle hand, and got up to put away the first aid kit. It was late, and you were both tired.
“I love you,” Sunghoon said over his shoulder, his voice still thick with emotion. He said that often nowadays, although it wasn’t something he did previously. Neither of you ever felt the need to declare that when you were younger; it was a given.
“I love you too, Hoon,” you replied, still busy trying to make room in the cluttered space under his kitchen sink for the kit.
All the traces of his crying vanished when he next spoke. “No, I’m in love with you.”
You dropped the package of sponges in your hands. Your mind went blank.
There was something about the phrase ‘in love’ that you had never really understood. It implied love was all consuming, like a physical swallowing whole of your being. You felt love for others, but you’d never felt it so much that you were in the state of love.
Until you heard it from him. And then you realised you were already there.
“Say something. Please,” he begged, panicked by your silence.
“Hoon-”
“I’m sorry. I shouldn’t have said that,” he mumbled, cutting you off, leaning back against the sofa with a hand over his eyes.
Sunghoon was not an interrupter. In all the years you’d known him, the only time he’d ever interrupted you was during your big final fight in your bedroom, when you’d snitched on him.
You left the first aid kit on the floor and sat down next to him. He didn’t move. You tapped the back of his hand to get him to look at you. Reluctantly, he did, but only through the gaps between his fingers.
“I’m in love with you too,” you admitted.
He was speechless at hearing his words echoed back to him, frozen for a good ten seconds before his gaze flickered down to your lips.
“Can I?” he asked, his voice quiet.
You nodded, and he kissed you. He placed one hand on the back of your neck to pull you closer while his other hand, bruised knuckles and all, grabbed one of your own. He laced your fingers together tightly, like he never wanted to let you go.
Your free hand ghosted over the line of his jaw, past the bandage you’d just put on his face and down his neck to his chest, warm and solid. He shivered under your touch.
“I love you, Hoon,” you breathed when you separated.
He gave you one last quick kiss on the tip of your nose. “I’ll never get tired of hearing that,” he whispered giddily, brushing his thumb across your bottom lip.
For the first few weeks after you reconnected, both of you had tried to return to what you once were. But it quickly became clear that that was never going to happen. Even after you had paved over the road, underneath the new asphalt the old potholes were still there, and nothing you did would ever fully correct them.
You had to look forward. Sunghoon was never going to be your best friend again, not like before. You would never get back your old relationship, full of childlike innocence and void of conflict. But that was okay. You were here, and he was here, and that was enough.
“Then I’ll keep saying it. I love you, I love you, I love you,” you repeated, leaning into his side and laying your head on his shoulder.
“I love you too. So much,” he said, putting his arm around you and letting you tuck your head into the crook of his neck. “You have no idea.”
He was tired of running and hiding from who he used to be, and going on the defensive and lashing out every time he was confronted with his past. He was done torturing his sixteen-year-old self.
You and him had something new. It wasn’t better, it wasn’t more. It was just different. You had your whole lives in front of you — an endless stretch of even, untouched, fresh road — waiting for you, and it would be stupid to focus on what lay behind you. You still had so much left to explore together.
How could one man look so beautiful?
You shouldn’t stare, but the way he looks laying on the edge of the bed, listening to music and smoking. With his long, thick legs hanging off, and chest so clearly bare. As you think about running your hands up his muscular chest.
You could trace every tattoo while straddling his waist. The thought brings that strange warmth between your legs. Which always would ignore something that is becoming harder to do. As frustration is budding alongside the warmth between your legs. Which, as of late, has lingered in Eren’s absence. And even the simple thought of him could spark it.
Eren sits up, catching you staring he lifts the blunt up to his plush pink lips. And then blows out the puff of smoke. Before licking his lip, the silver of his tongue piercing flashing making your body flush with heat.
“Is there something you want me to help you with? Whatever it is, I don’t mind.” And Eren can’t stop himself as he ashes the blunt in the tray sitting on the bed next to him.
The sweet eagerness to please him makes his balls ache. And he chuckles as he says, “There are several things I want you to help me with. None of them I’m going to ask about.” There is a look of confusion on your face that has Eren sighing,
The sweet eagerness to please him makes his balls ache. And he chuckles as he says, “There are several things I want you to help me with. None of them I’m going to ask about.” There is a look of confusion on your face that has Eren sighing,
“You don’t know what I’m talking about, do you?” You fiddle with your fingers as you look down, meaning to stare at the ground. But your gaze lingers on the bulge between his legs and you blurt,
“What is that in your pants? Most guys seem to have it. Are you guys just carrying around something extra or…” You trail off as you hear Eren groan. And you look up into his stunning pale green eyes which widen as Eren goes,
“You don’t even know what a cock is. Oh fuck…Armin said you’re sheltered, but damn. Baby girl between my legs is my cock, which isn’t like your soft folds.” He licks his lips. Which he catches you watching, his pink tongue gliding along his bottom lip.
Eren adds, “I have something that’s long, thick, and it hangs over my fat balls.” Your burrows furrow together at his words. As you try to picture him, but fail. And in an effort not to waste more time trying to explain, Eren asks,
“What to see what I look like?” He could just pull up a picture or tell you to look it up yourself. But then what kind of teacher would he be? Since if you had questions, he needs to be there. And an up-close, personal look would give you a better grasp than a picture could.
You quickly say, “Please can I? I can do something for you to say thank you.” Eren stands up as you take a few steps back. While he slips his sweatpants past his balls. And you freeze, your eyes stuck on his. As you’re torn between wanting to look down and being too flustered, too.
It isn’t until Eren tells you, “Get on your knees then.” That you can finally move, as you slowly kneel in front of Eren, keeping eye contact with him. Until your knees hit the floor and his cock fills your sight. And you can’t look away from him.
The veins that run start behind a thick mushroom-like head. That has a slit is oozing something clear. And Eren can’t stop himself from telling you,
“You can touch me, but I’m sensitive there.” He lets out a heavy, soft groan when you wrap your hand around his cock. Softly holding him up and smearing the thick clear juices he is making over his tip.
Holding up his cock and studying where the bottom of his length meets his fat balls. Which you cup in your hand, wiggling your fingers and moving your palm. As you, enjoy the warm and heavy feel of him in your hand.
Squeezing one finger down for a second before losing your grip. You mumble to Eren, “Tell me if I’m hurting you.” Pressing down with another finger, the motion you pass from finger to finger. While his hips softly buck as he places his hand on the back of your head.
Spitting on his cock to help your hand while you slowly glide your hand down to the back of his cock. He groans and you glance up at his face to make sure you weren’t hurting him. To see him biting into his bottom lip, with flush pink cheeks. And furrowed dark brows.
There is something in his eyes that you could only describe as hungry. But you can’t understand what for, so you believe yourself to be mistaken. And you ask,
“How am I making you feel?” He lets his bottom lip go, looking poutier than before. As he runs his hands through his brown hair, his upper arm flexing. Which you adore when he wears his hair down. And as it got longer past his shoulders.
There were times he would knock on your door to ask you to tie his hair up for him. To which you found out he knew how just fine. When you confronted him about it, he just told you,
‘Give me a reason to get out of bed early so I can see your pretty face and have your fingers in my hair.’
Eren tells you, “Fantastic baby girl, your hand feels so soft.” This pulls you out of your head as another question comes to the front of your mind. And as you bite into your bottom lip, looking up at him Eren urges you with,
“What is it? Whatever it is, you can tell me if you want to.” Hoping his words would soothe your nerves some. While you knelt in front of him, with his cock in your hands. And your glossy lips are so close to him.
Eren briefly wonders, 'Maybe I’m the one who needs help. Ruining her might just get me addicted to her. She is so damn beautiful.’
Softly you ask, “If someone touches me between my legs, will it feel good for me, too?” Eren’s breath hitches, the lump in his throat moving as he roughly swallows. As every single way that he can make your pussy feel good goes through his mind.
Only for his mind settles on one thought. So he tells you, “Yes, but you can also touch yourself, and it feels pleasurable. It’s called masturbating. When you’re in your room, you can slip your hand between your legs and figure things out.” His cock twitches in your hand, lifting as his pulse you could feel in his cock quickens.
“I know I’m asking a lot, but no, I’m sorry. I didn’t mean to stare and I won’t bother you, you probably don’t want to hear this.” His heart is sinking into his gut as he watches you shut him out. While assuming he didn’t want you.
When you stand up and turn for the door about to retreat into your bedroom. Eren stands up pulling up his sweats while he tells you, “I like you asking me all these questions. And I don’t mind, I want to answer every single dirty curious question you have.” And when you freeze, he closes the small space the few steps you took created.
Placing a large hand on your hip and slipping his thumb underneath your shirt. And the cool touch of his ring, along with the warmth of his skin, makes your mind go hazy. As you lean back against his body. And you mumble,
“Can you tell me how I’m supposed to touch myself? I don’t mind if you watch or touch me.” Eren slips his hand higher up your shirt, spreading his fingers across your stomach.
The frustration is building, the tingling warmth becoming an ache at the lack of something. While he is touching you, it isn’t enough. You don’t know why you need him to touch you more. And even though his warm hand and cold rings feel good. It’s also making it so much worse.
Huffing to Eren, “It hurts between my legs and I can’t handle it anymore. Pleasee! I’m so frustrated and I don’t know why.” Eren can hear the pout in your voice, the growing desperation for something you can’t place a name on.
“That’s called being unbearably horny. It’s what you feel for someone when you’re attracted to them. Let me guess, seeing me walk around shirtless and my touch makes you warm here.” He slips his hand between your legs, his large hand covering all of your pussy as he rubs you. And groans,
“You’re soaking through your shorts, baby. You don’t know how to touch yourself. No wonder you’re so frustrated. My little baby girl is so pent up, it’s a good thing I know of every way to help you.” Eren can’t stop.
If it was anyone else, he would edge them and draw out their end, make them beg for it. And one day if you let him he will do the same to you. But as you grab his wrist, holding his hand between your legs, Eren doesn’t want to take the pleasure away from you. As he rubs your soft clit through your shorts, you can’t help but whine.
“Reennn don’t stop please, please, please. Feels so good, your hand it so warm through my shorts. Nnngh please ren, please.” You reach back, trying to grab on to something. As you try to process the growing pleasure that makes your stomach tense up.
Eren softly purrs, “Don’t worry pretty girl I’m to take care of you and your sweet pussy, I’m not stopping until you want me to. Or until this pretty pussy can’t cum for me anymore.”
Know my Place - Alessia Russo
Based on a request for some soft smut, but since I don't write smut, some angsty smutless smut.
One of the models leaned over Alessia to be close to Leah, she tried to think of the woman’s name. Jules? Julia? Jenny? It felt like they all blurred together and neither footballer was invested enough to overly care at this point.
“- about Y/N,” Alessia tuned in just at the end of the model speaking, only catching Y/N’s name.
“Sorry, music is bit loud, didn’t catch all that,” Leah played it off, tilting her head towards the girl to convince her she hadn’t heard what was said.
“I was saying, tell me more about Y/N,” the model motioned her head towards where Y/N was leaned against the bar. Alessia rolled her eyes.
Y/N had gone up to get them drinks between pieces at the fashion show Leah had dragged them to. An event the blonde was strongly regretting by this point. Every time she looked away; another person seemed to be vying for Y/N’s attention. Alessia wasn’t a jealous person, but it was difficult to see everyone staring at her girlfriend like a piece of meat. A fact that she knew made Y/N incredibly uncomfortable.
Y/N was tall with lean muscle, well defined through any outfit she wore. She had short hair, shaved neatly along the side, with it textured artfully on top. Tonight, she was in well-tailored dress pants and a crisp white dress shirt with the first few buttons undone. The shirt displayed the sharp definition of Y/N’s arms and strained across her shoulders, while the pants stretched tight across on her hips and tapered down her legs. Easy to say, Y/N easily drew a lot of attention.
Alessia ground her teeth as she watched another nameless model walk her fingers along Y/N’s forearm, settling just above her elbow. She knew Y/N wasn’t interested, nor would she ever return any flirtatious advances. Unfortunately, Y/N was friendly and was easy to talk to, so many people mistook her friendliness as flirting. If only they knew Y/N’s flirting more resembled a bumbling teenager. Alessia smirked as Y/N moved her arm out of the models grasp, tucking both behind her back as she took a partial step back.
“-she’s gotta be like the team bike,” Alessia tuned in, both footballers furrowing their eyebrows at the poor American reference, “you know, everyone gets a ride sort of thing,” she finished with a wink.
“Excuse me?” Leah was able to find her voice before Alessia could.
“Come on, someone like that has to get around,” the model moaned crudely in the back of her throat, biting her lower lip, “bet she takes a new girl home every night. I know I would let her top the fuck out of me.”
Alessia stood abruptly, forcing the model huff and sit back in her spot. She didn’t wait to listen to Leah verbally accost the model, immediately making her way to Y/N.
Y/N lit up as soon as she recognized Alessia coming towards her. Alessia felt her heart flutter. They were in a room filled with literal supermodels, and Y/N looked at her as if she was the only person around.
Alessia didn’t care if she was rude or not, she slid directly in between the two, cutting off whatever the other woman was saying. Y/N’s hand instinctively settled on Alessia’s hips. Though Y/N stood only slightly taller than the blonde, she stood on her toes to kiss Y/N’s forehead. While a kiss to the lips would make it clear to anyone she would be going home Y/N, after hearing the way she was spoken about, something more delicate seemed more appropriate.
Hearing a huff followed by the click of heels, the blonde grinned.
“I think I’m missing something,” Y/N tilted her head, seeing Leah approaching, looking quite irritated.
Y/N hands Alessia her drink, before reaching Leah’s out to her once she’s within distance. The defender taking large gulps of it. Y/N and Alessia taking smaller sips.
“Sarah was saying how much she wants you to fuck her tonight, they’re all competing for you to take them home.”
It briefly registered to Alessia that the models name didn’t even start with a J like she thought. More so, she was disgusted at the way her girlfriend was being spoken about. She could feel Y/N shrink on herself and the hands drop from her hips.
Y/N took an uncomfortable sip of her drink.
“Time to go,” Alessia soothed a thumb over Y/N’s cheek.
Y/N finished her drink and allowed the striker to set her empty glass on the bar for her. The ice rattled as Leah slammed her empty glass down and turned to lead them through the crowd.
“I’m so sorry for making you come tonight Y/N,” Leah looked at Y/N through the rear-view mirror as she drove.
“It’s all good, Leah, really,” Y/N forcing a smile on to her face.
Alessia looked over the passenger seat to see Y/N absently staring out the window. She knew where Y/N’s mind was going to. Sex had been something Y/N had been quite hesitant about. Y/N had expressed her concerns which were feeling too  similar to some of the events of tonight.
The car was hardly to the curb and Y/N was opening her car door, opening Alessia’s for her and offering a hand to help her out. Leah offered another apology before everyone said their goodbyes.
Y/N was quiet on the ride up to their shared flat.
“Do you want to – “Alessia started to ask Y/N while they toed off their shoes inside the door. Y/N cut her off with a rough kiss, forcing her against the door.
The blonde indulged her for a moment, letting Y/N dominate the kiss. When her hands moved to under the flowing shirt Alessia wore, she gripped Y/N’s wrists to slow her movements.
Y/N withdrew her hands from Alessia’s shirt, instead bracing her hands on either side of the strikers’ head and forced a knee between her legs.
Alessia moaned, “hey, slow down bambina,” she pushed her away gently.
“Why? This is all I’m good for,” Y/N leaned her head against Alessia’s.
“No, you’re not, love,” Alessia held Y/N’s face in her hands, soothingly running her thumbs along her cheek bones, “I know tonight reminded you of some old feelings, but you’re not just meant for sex.”
She glided a hand to back of Y/N’s neck to tug her face to rest in the crook of her shoulder. Alessia kept them in that position for a minute before moving to guide them toward their bedroom.
“Still coming over tonight? I’ll cook,” Alessia asked softly, hand grazing Y/N’s back softly as she moved to sit in her locker next to her.
“Little Netflix and chill? Bow chicka wow woa,” Katie hollered from the other side.
A few players whooped at the comment. Alessia flushed at the attention, sinking further back into her cubby. Y/N clenched her jaw and focused on changing quickly, ducking out of the room before anyone noticed.
The couple had only been on a few dates. Alessia could sense that Y/N was a little hesitant, so she had held back and let Y/N direct their pace. Waiting patiently for Y/N to offer a chaste kiss before abruptly rushing from the blondes flat.
Y/N hadn’t been what Alessia was expecting. Not that she would change anything about Y/N, but she was unexpected. She had seen Y/N interact with girls at the bar, how they all threw themselves at her, it caused many rumours about Y/N being a bit promiscuous. Y/N’s looks only encouraging it, with a more masculine fashion and demeanour, many people assuming her to fit the typical ‘fuck boy’ stereotype.
When Y/N had picked her up with flowers at her door and fumbled over complimenting her “beautiful, look these are you”. Blushing, she had shoved the flowers into Alessia hands. The blonde immediately knew all the rumours were wrong. Y/N would open the car door for her and walk her back to the door at the end of their date, only offering a hug before darting back to her car.
She knew Y/N wasn’t the arrogant person that bed women as she pleased. Alessia knew Y/N was a gentle soul just looking to have her heart handled the way she handled everyone else’s.
Y/N arrived at her house that night for dinner, once again bringing her flowers. She had sat at the table while Alessia cooked them dinner, asking questions about everything, wanting to know all she could about the blonde.
After dinner, the pair had moved to the couch, where Alessia had quickly settled herself against Y/N’s chest. It was rare for her to feel comfortable setting her weight against someone like this, but with Y/N’s build matching her own, Alessia couldn’t help but bask in the feeling of the strong arms holding her tight.
Some mindless series was playing in the background. Alessia shifted herself so her face was tucked directly under Y/N’s chin, Y/N only shifting slightly to adjust her hold on the blonde. Sighing, Alessia shifted a few more times, waiting for Y/N to look down at her. As soon as she did, Alessia stretched herself up to meet Y/N’s lips.
Caught off guard, Y/N hesitated, before kissing back. Alessia adjusted herself to be straddling Y/N’s hips, grinding down slightly, hoping for Y/N to understand her intentions.
The blonde felt Y/N clench her jaw where fingers were rested but ignored it as Y/N tightened the grip on her hips, encouraging her movements.
Growing frustrated that it wasn’t progressing further, Alessia sat up fully, waiting until Y/N made eye contact with her, she took her shirt off and quickly followed with her bra. When Y/N didn’t move her hands from her hips, she took both wrists and forced Y/N’s hands to her chest.
Alessia could see Y/N clench her jaw again but felt her graze her thumbs across her hardened nipples and resumed her own grinding. Y/N slowly let her hands roam the blondes body but still made no move to progress anything further.
“I want you on top of me,” the defender leaned to whisper in Y/N’s ear, nipping the lobe as she pulled away.
Pulling away, she saw Y/N’s jaw clench and her eyes screw shut.
Taking pause, she pushed a hand on Y/N’s chest, halting her from switching their positions. Y/N looked confused but waited to see why the blonde stopped moving.
“This isn’t too fast, is it?” she ran her thumb along the exposed portion of Y/N’s collar bone. When Y/N paused, she already knew her answer.
“It’s fine, it’s what you invited me over for,” she started to shift again, so Alessia would be on her back.
Applying more pressure, she forced Y/N to lay back on the couch. Leaning down, she plucked her shirt of the floor and put It back on.
“I didn’t invite you over for sex Y/N.”
She felt like she was punched in the chest at the surprised look on Y/N’s face.
“Amore,” the term slipping out, “I invited you over for dinner and a movie, we don’t need to have sex. I’m sorry for getting carried away,” she spoke so softly.
She felt that punch again when Y/N’s surprise shifted to that of confusion, as if the concept of not having to have sex was foreign to her.
They sat in silence for a beat while Y/N seemed to process what was happening. That it wasn’t expected of her to have sex, that she wasn’t invited over for the only intention to be sex.
“But you want sex?” Y/N slowly asked, waiting for a nod, she continued, “but you didn’t invite me over to just have sex?”
Another nod, slower this time while the blonde worked out where Y/N was going with this.
“And we don’t have to have sex?”
Feeling that punch again, she nodded one more time.
“Firoe mio I do want to have sex with you,” she applied pressure to keep Y/N on her back, “but, I didn’t invite you over to just have sex. We can wait as long you want to have sex.”
Alessia could feel all the tension suddenly leave Y/N’s body as she sunk deep into the couch. Y/N closed her eyes and took a few slow breaths. Her eyes flew open when she felt Alessia begin to move on top of her.
“I’m just adjusting, I’m not going anywhere,” the blonde was quick to reassure her, this didn’t seem like a conversation to be had while straddling the girl.
Y/N nodded and mutters a soft apology, which Alessia waved off as she moved to sit next to Y/N, quickly taking hold of her hand.
“Did you think I only wanted to have you over to have sex?”
“Well yeah,” Y/N fidgeted with their interlaced fingers, “that’s all people usually want from me.”
Alessia felt her heart shatter now. She tried not to take it personal that Y/N would assume that of her, but she knew Y/N felt this way for a reason, that many people before conditioned her to expect that.
“I used to try and date like normal, but I figured out pretty quick I’m only good for one thing. People stick around for a bit, they pretend they aren’t just here for sex, but as soon as I asked for more, they’re gone. Sometimes they’ll be up front about just wanting sex. I don’t know if that hurts more than people pretending to want to date me.”
“I want to date you.”
“It’s alright Less, I know what I’m good for at this point. The sex is good –“
“Why’d you agree to go on a date with?” the striker cut her off.
“Sometimes I forget my place I guess,” she shrugged with humourless chuckle.
“I asked you out because I want to date you and get to know you more and grow a life together. I did not ask you out just for you to fuck me.”
Y/N’s eyes shot to Alessia at her sudden crude wording.
“I’m serious,” her blue eyes bore into Y/N’s while she spoke, “of course I want sex with Y/N, it’s natural and you are beautiful. But I want it to happen when we both want to happen and when you believe me that I’m not with you just for that or that I will leave after.”
Y/N had to look away so Alessia wouldn’t see her tears. Taking a breath, she looked back over, “I want to have sex with you too, but, if it’s ok with you, I think I’d like to wait a bit.”
“Of course, tesoro,” Alessia placed a gentle kiss to her forehead before guiding them to be laying back down, this time with Y/N held tightly to her chest.
“So how good is good?” Alessia teased later.
“Good enough you’ll need a recovery day after,” Y/N turned over, briefly tugging the blondes’ bottom lip into her mouth.
Alessia gulped, licking the lip Y/N had just tugged on.
True to her word, a few weeks later Alessia was glad for the day off when she woke up. She was sore in the best ways possible. Y/N having pulled sounds out of her she didn’t know she could make the night before.
