“Oh, Merlin, tell me, does THE DOUBLE AGENT get what he deserves?” He is in THE ORDER OF THE PHOENIX & CLOSED to finding out.
— he walks through the world as ;
name → gorkem polat pronouns → he/him identification → cis male year of birth → september 1951 - september 1952 face claim → kerem bürsin blood status → pure-blood sexual orientation → up to applicant occupation → associate at quality quidditch supplies in diagon alley future information → uncle of fred, george, ronald, and ginvera weasley further information → based on gideon prewett
— he is best described as ;
The LIFE of any party. The LAUGHTER that fills the air with a good JOKE. He is a PROTECTOR of the pack, ready to SECURE the safety of his loved ones. A STAR shooting through the sky but HUMBLE enough to know he could not do it alone. Arms up prepared to FIGHT the injustice that surrounds him, SEVERING the bond of parentage in favor of a family created in UNCONDITIONAL LOVE.
— his story starts with ;
Despite only minutes between them, Gorkem is the older of the Polat brothers. He was followed up by his brother and destined best friend, FURKAN POLAT [brother]. Born the eldest son of the Polat family they were thrust into the lap of luxury. Though neither boy cared much for the prestige that came from their family name, they were still taught all there was to being in the Sacred Twenty-Eight. Gorkem was the mischievous one, the one who came up with the pranks and executed them perfectly, while Furkan did all the prep and planning. He was the one getting scolded for ruining his best robes or causing mayhem in the kitchen with the house elves. The world was Gideon’s playground and there were no limits, as long as Furkan had his back, things would be okay. With their parents away, galavanting in society, Gideon and Furkan were often left watching over their little sister MIRAY WEASLEY [sister] though no one complained as Miray was the perfect addition to their antics. The twins never let Miray feel lonely, always including her in all their tricks. Gorkem found that the three of them fit well, they were as close as siblings could be and Gorkem appreciated the connection they had.
Wherever one of them went, the other wasn’t far behind. When they were together they would often be found with heads bent down, planning their next prank on the unsuspecting neighboring kids. But even identical twins find ways to be different, while Furkan preferred his books and the greenhouse, Gorkem preferred to take to the skies when they weren’t pulling pranks. He was a natural on a broom, always reading up on the latest league scores in the Prophet or attempting all the tricks he’d heard the professionals did. He had become obsessed with it when he would often be ripping the Daily Prophet out of his father’s hands during breakfast so he could read up on the latest league scores. His love for the game often had the family of five making various trips to Quality Quidditch Supplies every time they visited Diagon Alley. It was an afternoon full of dramatics when Gorkem found out he wouldn’t be allowed to bring his broom to Hogwarts during his first year, he had dreamed of making his house team and becoming a star player. But the moment passed quickly the longer Gideon thought about the new friends he would make that weren't his siblings or other Twenty-Eight members.
It was no surprise to see his brother sorted into Hufflepuff and Gorkem took pride in how quickly the hat had announced the same house for him shortly after. A small part of nerves now settled within him as he realized he wouldn’t have to be rooming away from his brother. At first Furkan and Gorkem stuck together as they navigated the new terrain, but soon enough Gorkem, being the social guy he was, began extending his hand towards those who may get him some credit with the Quidditch team. He grew close to JORDANNA O’MALLEY [best friend], NOLAN WILLIAMS [close friend], and KOA TANAKA [close friend], all of whom enjoyed Quidditch as much as he did. When he wasn’t socializing with his friends, he was off practicing his flying or pulling pranks on unsuspecting students with Furkan. He trained long and hard to make the Hufflepuff team by his second year, excelling in his position as a chaser even at the young age of twelve. Thankfully with Furkan at his side, his grades remained good despite his disinterest in his classes.
In the later years of school, Gorkem quickly learned that parties were the best way to network outside of your house and soon enough everyone knew about the Polat parties. Students from all ages and houses would find their way attending whenever Gorkem would announce the date, Furkan being the one to always make sure Miray would tag along with her friends as the twins knew she needed to let loose occasionally. It was through these parties that Gorkem met LINA KLEIN [close friend] and DOMINIC TRAVERS [close friend], who he had only started to grow close to in the last years at school. The more he hung out with them the more his extended friend circle grew to consist of Slytherins and Ravenclaws. Many of the people in the group had strong opinions about blood purity, which Gorkem tended to ignore as he was on the fence about those opinions. He wasn’t sure if he believed it wholeheartedly or simply because it was what he had been taught by his parents. He instead focused on the good times he’d have with them at parties. When Furkan began distancing himself to focus on his studies their last year, Gorkem attempted to do the same knowing that a great Quidditch reputation accompanied by good grades would open doors for him.
Graduating Hogwarts had meant a new path for Gorkem, he had applied to a few teams in the British and Irish league and had been accepted for a tryout for a few. But when faced with the reality of a Quidditch career, Gorkem found his heart just wasn’t in it like it had been in his childhood. He witnessed how politics had seeped into the cores of the teams and how many only worked together for the sake of their fans. That wasn’t the dream Gorkem had so he instead applied at Quality Quidditch Supplies in hopes to keep his love of Quidditch still close. It was during this time that their parents had made it known they disowned Miray for marrying her longtime boyfriend ARTHUR WEASLEY [close friend/brother-in-law]. It had been then and there Gorkem’s eyes were opened as he yelled at his own parents for kicking his sister aside for marrying the man she loves. Miray and Furkan had been his people, the ones always supporting him in anything he did, to lose one of them was like losing a piece of himself and Gorkem wouldn’t have it. Even if it meant losing his parents. Together with Furkan, they sent a letter of support to Arthur and Miray only to get one in return requesting their presence at an elopement ceremony.
During a celebratory dinner after the ceremony, Arthur let Furkan and Gorkem in on the secret of the Order of the Phoenix. A secret organization that had come together to fight the injustice that was growing in the community. Gorkem immediately threw his hat into the ring, still angry at their parents, and Furkan quickly followed. It had been during a conversation later with Arthur’s friend LILAS ROSMERTA [friend] that Furkan approached the topic of Gorkem potentially acting as a spy for the Order. Furkan argued that with his connections to Lina and Dominic, it would be easy. And so far it has been. Gorkem had been tasked by the Dark Lord to accompany KERVENS BORGIN [acquaintance] and CAIUS BURKE [acquaintance] on a mission to retrieve a prophecy from the Ministry. It had been unsuccessful for the Death Eaters but the Order came out victorious. The night he was punished for his failure is a night he had never spoken about, not even to Furkan. Even after the fiasco that was the year 1983, he does his best to keep his roles in this war separate but the closer his family gets to the front lines, the less Gorkem believes he’ll be able to withstand being hidden amongst the Death Eater Army when his heart belongs with the Order.
— he is a LEVEL 7 WIZARD & readied for war ;

Abandoned (1949)
"Now, look, pal. If it were me, I'd tell you I couldn't fix it, not for love nor money."
"Who said anything about love?"
"Like all the rest. You think you can buy me for money."
"Here, Delaney."
"Well, you're right. But it takes more."
"Who said anything about no more?"

concept: after another curse, a new building appears in storybrooke.
“was--was that there before?” emma asks, eyes glancing from the storefront to her parents.
mary margaret shakes her head, and david reads the sign out loud: “fredbear’s family diner. ... huh. doesn’t ring any bells.”

Band of Brothers Ages: IRL vs. Actors
Did you know that according to a 1947 study, almost half the men who served in WWII were still under age 26 by the end of the war?
What this is : A (very long) post comparing the ages of the actors in Band of Brothers vs. the IRL figures they are portraying.
Background: Did I need to do this? No. Did anyone ask for this? Also no. Did I do it anyway? Yes.
Disclaimers: This is SUPER approximate for the most part. I based IRL ages off of D-Day unless otherwise noted, and actor ages off of January 1, 2000, the year filming took place (the latter is where the most variation will be because I didn't try to figure out what month filming started). I also didn't fact-check birthdays beyond googling. Most are sourced from the Band of Brothers and Military Wikis on fandom.com, Wikipedia, and IMDb.
I broke them up into rough categories, which are, again, approximate. I know I often forget how young the real life people were here, and this was a good reminder of that. I also found it interesting to see which actors were actually younger than their roles!

Get To Know Me(-ish)
I was thinking I could answer some typical “get to know me” questions, if anyone’s interested in reading them. If not, I’ve just done it for myself, I guess. Anyway, I’ve found these on Google. Let me know if there’s someone to credit! (prepare for me babbling on about completely useless stuff)
What's your name? Julianna (but I´m open for any nicknames, especially "my little ps5 cooling fan")
How old are you? I turned 23 this year. Yep, I´m having an internal crisis
What's your sexuality? I will say bisexual for now. But there´s a VERY high chance I'll change it to 100% lesbian. Like, right know girls are the only thing that interests me.
What I love the most about myself? I´m very kind and loyal. It could be seen as something bad, ik. But I´m trying to not let people use it against me. I also believe I'm a good listener, which is somethings I'm proud about. I'd also like to think I could make a boring task funny, like grocery shopping or doing the dishes.
What I dislike the most about myself? I have a pretty bad temper, I blame it on my dad. If I'm pissed, don´t even bother trying to calm me down. Just give me a few minutes to myself and I'll be back. But that leads me into the next thing I hate about myself, I hold onto things for waaaay to long. If someone did something bad 5 years ago you better believe I remember it. I´m also stubborn and think about other people´s opinion SOMETIMES, but let's not focus on that. I like to believe I just need to find "the right person" to pull me out of that mindset...
What are your favorite movies? The Wolf of Wallstreet, The Dark Knight, The Amazing Spider-Man, Yes Man, Toy Story, Once Upon A Time In Hollywood, Cast Away, Forest Gump, How To Train Your Dragon (duh), Black Swan, Django Unchained, Texas Chainsaw Massacre (2003), (I've got a bunch, but basically anything that's either directed by Christopher Nolan or Quantin Tarantino OR has Tom Hanks or Leonardo DiCaprio in it)
What's your favorite song? I can't choose one, but here's a few songs that I can listen to on repeat for months and still find them as good as the first time I heard them:
José Feliciano - California Dreaming
Danzig - Mother
Ansel Elgort - Supernova
ASAP Rocky - Everyday
Pharrell Williams - Freedom
Post Malone - Hollywood's Bleeding
Skrillex - Don't Go
Adele - Chasing Pavements
Macklemore - Wings
KALEO - All The Pretty Girls
Justin Bieber - Hard To Face Reality
The Fray - Look After You
The Lumineers - Cleopatra
The Killers - When You Were Young
What are your hobbies? I´m trying to make myself busy with literally anything. I can't stand the thought of not being productive (doesn't stop me from laying in bed, watching youtube for hours!). So basically anything productive. Drawing, some sculpturing (nothing professional, calm down), very rarely write (obviously, I haven´t been updating this blog for like ages!). Recently I've been trying to learn how to play the piano AND electric guitar (ik, you can give me your number after the show).
Do you plan your outfits? Yeah, way more than I think anyone who sees me thinks. Idk how many nights I've spent, planning out in my head the outfit for the next day. Even if you see me wearing sweatpants and an oversized t-shirt you better believe that t-shirt wasn't the first one I tried on. Even if I´m going to the fucking hospital I can´t wear socks that doesn't match with the rest of the outfit...
The meaning behind my username? Tbh, I just started thinking of random stuff, like "sayings" that doesn't sound too...cringe? Then the Patrick meme of him in a knitted sweater with the writing "Mom, can you pick me up? I´m scared" (or something like that) popped into my head. I rephrased it a little before checked if it was taken, and it wasn't.
Any addition? Vanilla Coke or/and Dr Pepper (apart from my huge cocaine addiction), like I´m obsessed. Ik it sounds sooo dramatic, but if I had a no limit access to either of those sodas I'd die of diabetes in a week. If you want to get in my pants, just buy me a can and I'll get on my knees and propose to you.
Turn ons? I could say something like "eyes" and "hands", but I'll say some features I don´t think are AS common, but I got craaazy for. One of them would be scars. I can't explain to you how fucking kneebendingly HOT I think scars are. Idc if it's from acne, self harm or an actual injury. It's. So. Fucking. Attractive! People who's self contious about their scars, hit me up! Second thing I find really attractive is backs, idk why but I just find them so ecstatically pleasing especially filled with scratches by my nails.
Turn offs? People who's playing hard to get or think they're hot shit! I've spend too much of my teenage years chasing those type of assholes. And people who think people like that, wtf is wrong with you? I'd have a nerdy sweetheart everyday of the week! These fuckboy-type of behavior needs to be stopped, istg. If you like me, tell me that! (also, I need that clarification every now and then, otherwise I'll think you despise me...)
What skill would you most like to learn? To be able to comprehend any social situations without wanting to blow my brains out. I´m the worse when it comes to socializing, like overall. Doesn't matter if it's my relatives or complete strangers, I'll dig my nails so hard into palms inside my pockets. People who can start having a random discussion with someone on the streets, or blend in with their partner´s family first time they meet them PURLEY amaze me. I wanna be like them sooo bad.
Favorite ice cream flavor? I will say just plain vanilla, CAUSE if a brand is good the flavoring doesn't need to be so complicated (to slap). The brands who has these crazy flavor combinations are usually doing it to try and conceal their shitty ice cream *cough* Ben & Jerry *cough*. But if I wouldn't choose that I'd probably be something super childish, like "rainbow bubblegum cotton candy confetti".
Dogs or cats? I know the lesbian community will throw me out, but I 100% choose dogs. Idc what you say, cats are satans creation!
Favorite quote? "When you're having a bad day, don´t forget you're ugly too"
Favorite sport? I´m not really into sports. I was never an athletic kid. But whenever there´s pingpong on tv, I'm in a trance. Like I'll spend HOURS watching that shit without even knowing the rules.

There is not much logical reason to expect that it really would have worked out this way, in hindsight. That even if the luck had been better, the injuries fewer, it all really would have gone well enough to take them all the way.
That being said. Let's imagine for a moment that it did.
Or; the 2021-22 season was the year that everything went utterly cartoonishly wrong for Mark, Max, and the rest of the Knights. This is the better version, the different timeline, where everyone is happy. Where everything goes right.

'J. Robert Oppenheimer, who has become a fixture in the public imagination after Christopher Nolan’s cinematically powerful film on Oppenheimer’s life, was a brilliant, enigmatic, imperfect human being.
Even so, what continues to resonate with me after watching the film and reading “American Prometheus: The Triumph and Tragedy of J. Robert Oppenheimer,” the Pulitzer-Prize-winning book by Kai Bird and Martin J. Sherwin on which it was based, was his clairvoyant moral courage. He was willing to challenge the political establishment in decrying the horrors of the atomic bomb during a time when questioning the bomb was perilously outside the political mainstream.
We can’t all take on the system like Robert Oppenheimer did or, for that matter, display the once-in-a-generation heroism of Mahatma Gandhi, Oskar Schindler or Rosa Parks. But if “Oppenheimer” is to have value beyond entertainment, it is incumbent on us to examine how the moral fortitude that Oppenheimer and other ethical exemplars displayed can help us challenge unjust moral strictures in our own lives and summon our moral values to perform acts of moral courage.
For even as we pursue our own self-interest and ambitions, most of us are deeply impressed by moral exemplars – “people who step forward with noble purpose and inspiring acts… (and) provide examples for the many others who are seeking ways to express their own benevolent impulses,” as psychologists Anne Colby and William Damon put it.
Psychologists have studied moral exemplars and come away with moving stories of their dedication. For example, Bert Berube blew the whistle on corruption inside the General Services Administration. Johan, a 17-year-old who refused to join the German Army in 1941, helped hide Jews from the Nazis, implementing his egalitarian respect for the universal similarity of all human beings.
Many other exemplary individuals whom Colby and Damon interviewed dedicated their lives to pursue altruistic goals. Matthew Goldberg, a pediatrician, devoted himself to helping poor children in Baltimore; David Linksy left an affluent business to pursue diplomatic solutions to conflicts in Central America. Closer to home, the late George Hrbek, a luminary Cleveland minister, took personal risks to advance the cause of civil rights during the 1960s.
We can’t all be moral saints, nor should we be. But by integrating moral values into our own personal life paths and appreciating the exemplary moral actions some inspirational individuals have performed, we can make more humane ethical decisions.
Moral dilemmas greet us every day. Your boss asks you to fudge some data to get the contract. Should you comply? You watch a colleague treat a co-worker derisively and wonder if you should confront your colleague. Your family refuses to accept a sibling with an alternative lifestyle and you are hesitant about how to act. Propelled by a religious upbringing, you wonder what you can do to help immigrants who don’t speak English find a safe place to live while they look for work.
A key is staying in touch with our moral principles and integrating them into our global self-concepts, so that thinking morally becomes a practiced sense of who we are. As U.S. Army General Norman Schwarzkopf remarked, “the truth of the matter is that you always know the right thing to do. The hard part is doing it.”
Socialization is also important. Studies show that children whose parents use explanations that encourage empathy are more likely to perform pro-social moral behavior than children whose parents assert their power.
Schools also can play a role. Although moral discussions in schools get caught up in conservative-liberal cultural wars, they need not exert a polarizing effect. Jonathan Haidt has found that conservatives and liberals have different, but complementary, values, with conservatives prioritizing loyalty and moral purity, and liberals emphasizing social justice and fairness. Teachers should help children appreciate the merits of both sets of moral virtues.
Moral decisions are rarely easy. Oppenheimer struggled with them himself. But as the psychologist Thomas Lickona reminds us, “we are more fully human when we act virtuously.”'

Welcome, dear reader, to the live coverage of the most exciting event of the season - the Rosscars! Reporting is brought to you by our bozo on the scene, Ross. Readers who question his ability as a journalist are fair to wonder, since last year he totally missed covering Chris Pine getting payback for Harry Styles and the spit-gate incident at Cannes. According to eyewitness testimony, Pine dropped an anvil on young Styles’ head, causing his neck to fold and expand like an accordion and a small flock of birds to encircle his noggin. We’re taking this bit of hot gossip with a grain of salt since the source, Daffy Duck, has a propensity toward exaggeration, but we’re not letting it stop Ross from paying extra close attention for any headline-grabbing events like that from this year.
The red carpet is abuzz with all sorts of designer looks and canned responses approved by publicists. The artists who have shown up are flattered, yet baffled. It seems that, yet again, their agents have confused this hallowed program with another awards show that shares its name a certain grouch who lives on Sesame Street.
After a massive bidding war for the broadcast rights, this year’s Rosscars are streaming exclusively on the hottest new service: those weird little screens on gas pumps.
It seems rare that a year is this dense with entries from major filmmakers: Martin Scorsese, Hayao Miyazaki, Michael Mann, Greta Gerwig, Yorgos Lanthimos, Kelly Reichardt, Wes Anderson, Alexander Payne, Hirokazu Kore-eda, Christian Petzold, Todd Haynes, David Fincher, Christopher Nolan, Paul Schrader, M Night Shyamalan, Steven Soderbergh, William Friedkin, Ridley Scott, Sofia Coppola, Ari Aster, Nicole Holofcener, Hideaki Ano, - as well as the announcement of a few new potential masters like Celine Song.

A few caveats and guidelines: The rules and categories are a little different around here. In keeping with the Academy standard, there are five nominees in each category, except for Best Picture, Best Non-Fiction/Documentary Feature, Best International Film, and Best Ensemble which have up to ten. Every category except for those with 10 entries will have honorable mentions. I want to highlight some things that just barely missed the cut. The narrowing down of a lot of these categories is always tough, but I’m nothing if not a martyr for my medium *hold for rapturous applause*
Distribution continues to be more fractured and odd, so there’s only really one criterion for eligibility, and it seems self-evident: the nominees must have come out/become available between last year’s Rosscars and this year’s Oscar award nominations.
Nominees are listed alphabetically, and the winners are boldened.
Also, it’s important to keep in mind that I couldn’t see everything, and that these are just the opinions of one (self-described) “bozo on the internet.” If you’re a reader and have different picks, feel free to share!

Before we get underway with the official categories, Ross would like to give special shout-outs to craftsmen he feels are worthy of recognition. The production design of Barbie, Asteroid City, The Holdovers, Beau is Afraid, Poor Things were exceptional. Similarly the costumes of Poor Things, Killers of the Flower Moon, and The Killer are worth highlighting. A huge bow in admiration for Jennifer Lame’s editing of Oppenheimer - the engine of the film, and perhaps its greatest asset.
Some superlatives upfront - The Bullet Train Award for a movie that’s packed to gills with enough stars to be liked people you dislike, the award goes to Argylle. The Great Performance in a Movie that Doesn’t Totally Work Award goes to Nicolas Cage in Dream Scenario. The Superior Sequel Award, for a sequel that’s better than the original, goes to Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny. Nah, I’m just kidding. It goes to Extraction 2. The “Where Did This Comes From?” Award goes to a movie that’s pretty great from a filmmaker that’s not. This year’s winner is Guy Ritchie’s The Covenant. His eligibility was in question after 2021’s Wrath of Man also won this award, but here’s hoping the tides have turned and this is trend showing that Guy is through making movies that are truly stinky. Best Performance From an Animal goes to Messi the dog for Anatomy of a Fall, but the pigeon from Showing Up was waiting in the wings for the victory.
And with that terrible pun, let’s get the show underway.
Category fraud becomes especially tempting when trying to make each candidate fit, but know that each of these spots was thought over for quite a while and the emphasis on honorable mentions is well deserved.
The first category is Best Supporting Actor. Should the acting awards be gendered or is that a thing of the past? Take it up with the Academy!
After a last minute cancellation by Andrew Dice Clay, tonight's hosting duties have fallen to... Ross.

In an era where film critics and fans are bemoaning the lack of true movie stars, it makes a certain sense that this was an insanely good year for supporting performances. These two winners have very different approaches to playing characters that are holding back information and maintaining a sense of unknowability.

The song’s use in the movie was a massive surprise, but its win here was inevitable. Baffling, juvenile, and ultimately kind of lovely, there are few uses of music in movies from any recent year that land with such a hilarious and memorable needle drop.
People in the audience are still surprised to hear the name of the 7th Transformers movie in any category, but the show must go on. Ross takes the stage and has a sheet of paper in front of him. Uh oh, looks like he’s got a speech coming.
“Cameras! Sometimes they use old technology I don’t really understand, and sometimes they use cutting edge technology I don’t really understand. It’s not just about a pretty shot, it’s about capturing blocking and visual composition to show a relation between characters and their environment. It’s about balancing light and casting shadows. Without a camera, these nominees would just be expensive podcasts. Here are your nominees…”

The In Memoriam montage starts to play as black and white photos of beloved artists start to fade in and fade out. The audience sighs with a somber recognition of the gratitude we all collectively have for their work. Richard Lewis, Paul Reubens, Tina Turner, William Friedkin, Piper Laurie… but suddenly audience members are surprised by the inclusion of the new addition to the In Memoriam portion of the show - the screen reads, “RIP to the Careers of…” before flashing to Jonathan Majors, Colleen Ballinger, Diddy, David Choe, Lizzo. Then, a stamp slams down and reads "CANCELLED."
The room is in a collective daze, and the seemingly rudderless show is in dire need of being steered back in the right direction. Too bad the figurative captain is your host… Ross.

There actually was supposed to be a promotional event for the Rosscars where the cast of Iron Claw wrestled against Gael Garcià Bernal in character as the titular Cassandro, but then the promotional team actually watched Iron Claw and realized it was a "bad fit" for such an event. When reached out to for further comment, the team said, "Iron Claw is a story about destiny, expectations, and the pressure applied to make those two concepts meet. It's a good old-fashioned melodrama rendered with sensitivity and empathy that is most evident in the film's spectacular performances. Director Sean Durkin takes a few huge swings in the final stretch that connect for home runs, releasing the coiled emotions that, up to that point, were building." The team was surprised by the length of the comment.
The host, Ross, has taken the stage again, this time wearing a giant mascot costume of a globe. This act of debasement was the latest attempt at drawing the audience in with a laugh. It's clear that he's here to present the award to best international feature, but the humiliation he feels is palpable, and the audience is just getting sad. Stanley Tucci is noticeably shifting in his seat from secondhand embarrassment.

Ross takes the stage, this time, with a solemn acceptance that the show is petering out. Unlike Golden Globes host Jo Koy, Ross blames his jokes falling flat on no one but himself. "I suppose that, like Oppenheimer, the responsibility for the bombing is on me."
A single chortle breaks the silence. It's none other than Timmy Chocolates, Lisan al-gaib, "I ate the bones" Tim - an actor who worked with Woody Allen AND Armie Hammer just before the public turned on them - Timothée Chalamet.

Pundits have speculated that the big award of the evening will be a surprise, awarded to a film that's not even nominated. Our reporter on the scene, Ross, has a source that Vegas has been flooded with high yield bets placed on Good Burger 2 and Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania. These bets will not pay out.

There was no film in the past year that better wrestled with its material to create a complete experience. Its final scene is one that hasn't been far from my mind since seeing it, and, as is often the case with Scorsese's movies, it's the small moments that stick with you as much as the big strokes. Asteroid City sure was close, though.
There you have it, folks. The awards have been handed out, but keep in mind that they can reshuffled at will, so don't clear out too much space on the mantle Hoyte!
Feel free to share, to disagree, to boycott next year - all reactions are welcome.
For more thoughts on film, and a whole bunch of other junk, you can find me on Letterboxd here and on Twitter here. You can also find very sporadic pieces on this very same blog space: (that’s https://phantomofthepairofdice.tumblr.com/).
On behalf of the RAOGL (Rosscars Association of One Guy at a Laptop), thanks for reading. We’ll see you next year. Keep watching movies, and keep arbitrarily quantifying them in terms of subjective quality!
