Summary: Lydia’s throwing a Halloween party and your costume coordinates with Isaac’s

Author’s Note: Apparently this was in my drafts in 2019 and I finished it in 2020. Why it never got posted, I’m not sure. The timing of this is funny cause I’m currently at work dressed as the character Isaac is dressed as. Anyway, reblogs and comments are appreciated. Happy Halloween!

“Lydia, I haven’t dressed up for Halloween since I was 12,” you said walking around looking at all the creepy Halloween decorations.

“And this is a costume party. You have to dress up or you can’t go,” Lydia replied walking in front of you heading straight for the costumes. 

“I have no idea what I should be. And most Halloween costumes for women are sexy now, which really means they’re short and inappropriate, and I am not doing that.”

The strawberry blonde rolled her eyes. “You haven’t even looked at any costumes yet and your already jumping to conclusions.”

“I’m just pointing out facts. Halloween used to be fun, then I grew up.”

“And now you’re at the age where you can dress up again,” Lydia smiled at you. “There’s just no candy this time.”

“So what’s the point,” you joked.

“Just come on,” Lydia said grabbing your arm pulling you towards the superhero costumes first. 

The two of you began to look through the racks of clothes. You ran a mental checklist of everything that wouldn’t work for you. 

Batgirl? No.

Iron Man? No.

Elastigirl? Hell no.

“Oh, what about Wonder Woman,” Lydia asked holding up the iconic armor for you to see. 

“Ehh,” you said fidgeting on your feet, “I don’t feel comfortable having my ass out.”

“Okay,” Lydia said sighing at how difficult you were making this. She stood next to you scanning the the other costumes in the superhero section and decided you were going to like any of them.

“What about a witch,” she asked.

“I guess I could be that,” you replied halfheartedly.

“No, I don’t want you buying something you don’t love. That’s the number one rule in fashion.”

“Lydia, why don’t you just look for your costume and I’ll find mines. I don’t want you to keep pulling outfits and I hate them all.”

Lydia turned and faced you. “Honey, I bought my costume weeks ago. No one is going to be wearing the same thing as me at my own party.”

You chuckled, shaking your head. “Duh, I should have known you already had your costume ready to go.”

“Yes, so this trip is all about you, my dear,” Lydia said tapping you on the nose making you smile. 

“Fine,” you replied. “Well, let’s go look at something a little more spookier then.”

“Barbie, eat your heart out.”

Lydia walked up behind you in the mirror and nodded. “You look good.”

“I look killer,” you laughed and Lydia smiled shaking her head. 

You looked at yourself in the mirror admiring your white dress, leather jacket, and combat boots. You grabbed your eyeliner pencil and added the final touch. Tiffany’s mole. 

Perfect.

As soon as you saw the Bride of Chucky costume, you knew you needed it. Lydia was just happy you didn’t go with Chucky so you didn’t mess up her bathroom adding all the wounds and fake blood on your face. 

About an hour later, the party was well under way and you already made your first rounds with Lydia. Now she off doing other hostess duties and you were people watching against the wall.

You saw Isaac across the room and smiled to yourself. You excused yourself through the crowd as you made your way across the room.

“Hey, Isaac. Nice costume,” you greeted, looking up at the tall burette in front of you. Well, he wasn’t brunette right now. He was wearing a red wig and a pair of Good Guys overalls. You snickered to yourself. Of course the guy you had a crush on would be dressed up as Chucky. He was basically the salt to your pepper.

“Thanks,” Isaac said, a grin lining his face. “And you are a... biker bride?”

You looked at Isaac confused and shocked. “You’re kidding me, right?”

“What,” Isaac smiled confused at your response. “Should I know who you are?”

“Yes,” you said laughing. You gawked at him as you held up your plastic bloody knife and pointed to your “Tiff” necklace. His eyebrow furrowed in confusion.

“I’m Tiffany...”

Isaac shook his head still lost.

“The Bride of Chucky...”

“Sorry. Still don’t know who that is.”

“Oh my God. Isaac, how are you dressed up as Chucky but don’t know who Tiffany is?”

Isaac shrugged. “Honestly, I wasn’t planning on wearing a costume, but Lydia said I had to, then showed up to Scott’s house with this.”

You shook your head, laughing to yourself. “Of course she did.”

“Am I missing something,” Isaac asked wanting in on the joke.

“Lydia knew I was dressing up as Tiffany and she made you be Chucky... we’re basically a couple’s costume.”

“We are,” Isaac asked, his eyebrow raised and smirk slowly growing on his face.

“Uhh, I- I mean sorta,” you replied fidgeting where you stood. “Especially, now when we’re standing next to each other.”

Isaac took a step closer to you. “So I guess I better keep you close then.”

You’re eyes grew big but before you could response you were interrupted. 

“There you two are,” Lydia said walking up to you and Isaac. Her blonde ponytail wig bouncing with each step she took. She definitely was the only I Dream of Jeannie here. You doubted if most of the party even knew who she was, but they all knew she looked good. “Well don’t you look cozy together.”

“Lydia,” you said a little too sweetly for anyone’s liking. “I hear we have you to thank for Isaac’s costume.”

“What,” Lydia asked like she didn’t basically have you and Isaac in a couple’s costume. “I couldn’t have him come to my Halloween party not dressed up.”

“Yeah, sure,” you scoffed crossing your arms over your chest.

“Anyway, everyone’s outside so we can take a group pic before anyone is too intoxicated to do it later.” 

“Lydia,” Stiles yelped running up. “Oh, hey guys,” he said waving to you and Isaac. You smiled and waved back before he began talking to Lydia. He was dressed up as Captain Tony Nelson, the perfect couple’s costume to Lydia’s Jeannie. “Um, so, I may or may not have gotten my Captain’s hat stuck on the roof... okay I definitely did. But it was Scott’s fault!”

“Seriously, Stiles,” Lydia fumed. “God,” she whispered under her breath shaking her head before turning to you. “Give it about ten minutes before the picture so I can get his hat down.” 

You laughed nodding your head. “Okay.”

The couple walked away, leaving you alone with Isaac. “Um, I’m going to go get something to drink. See you outside in ten?”

“Yeah,” Isaac said, giving you a slow and sexy smile. 

You turned and headed for the kitchen, letting out a long breath as you did. Isaac’s whole existence was driving you crazy. Although you did like the blue eyed boy, and you’ve been wanting something to happen for a while, he was making you incredibly nervous. You’d rather avoid him instead of potential embarrassing yourself. 

After you filled your red solo cup with the fruity punch being served, one of your classmates came up to you.

“Hey Y/N, cute costume.”

“Thanks!”

“I didn’t know you and Isaac were a thing.”

“Huh,” you asked confused.

“The couple’s costume,” they said hesitantly. “Chucky and Tiffany.”

“Ohh, duh” you said to yourself when you realized. “We’re not dating. We just happened to wear costumes that went together.”

“Oh... well, the two of you look good together,” they said shrugging then walked away.

All your friends were already outside ready to take the picture. Lydia handed her phone to the designated photographer, then went to stand next to Stiles. Scott was in the middle, with Kira next to him. Malia was next to Kira, while Stiles and Lydia were on the other side of Scott. You stood next to Malia, throwing your arm over your friend’s shoulder. Isaac stood near Stiles. 

After two pics were snapped, Lydia went to check the photos. She grabbed her phone, then looked up at the group. “Somethings not right...,” she said out loud, thinking to herself. “I know!” She grabbed Isaac by his arm and pulled him over to where you were standing. “That’s better. You’re costumes go together, so it makes sense,” she said smiling. She mumbled a quick you’re welcome to you before she handed the camera back over and went back to her place next to Stiles.

The person taking the pictures counted down “3, 2, 1,” then snapped a pic. But before you got to one, Isaac grabbed you by the waist and pulled you into him. You shrieked in response then started laughing. 

“Okay, now a funny one,” Scott yelled so everyone could hear. 

Isaac didn’t hesitate, quickly picking you up bridal style. You yelped, then immediately stuck your tongue out at him. Lydia’s phone flashed as the picture was taken, then everyone stopped doing their poses, but Isaac didn’t put you down.

You giggled before you spoke. “You can put me down now, Isaac. The picture’s over.”

“I said I should keep you close. So that’s what I’m doing,” he said smiling down at you in his arms. “And besides, if we’re next to each other people will think we’re a couple, so no guy will ask you to dance.”

You titled your head to the side, your eyes squinted slightly. “But we’re not a couple.”

“Give it a few weeks.”

Your mouth dropped in a silent gasp, slowly turning into a huge grin. You heard Kira giggling behind you and Stiles’s “yuck.”

Oooo that’s a good one Sunny! 👻 I think a lot of it has to do with who’s coordinating who’s going along with the couple costumes too but here’s my list:

Most likely

Hyunjin. And he’s coordinating it. He’s been planning your outfit for weeks and you do not have a say in it. You will wear what he tells you to if you know what’s good for you. I think he would choose something like Howl and Sophie from or Jack and Sally. Something that makes him look good first and foremost, but also he’s got nothing but compliments for you all night.

Jisung. He’s just happy to be involved lol he will wear whatever you give him but when you make sure your outfits are at least somewhat to his interests, he’s very happy. Anything from an anime for sure but I’m particularly soft about him being Tuxedo Mask to your Sailor Moon.

Bang Chan. He’s a simp, and he’d do anything you want to do. So if you have an idea for a couples costume, he’s down. But I mean… good luck getting him out of the studio for long enough for someone to see it tho. I think he’d like something with Pokémon, where he’s Ash and you’re Misty or pikachu if that’s what you’re into. Or he’d be into something like the Big Bad Wolf and Red Riding Hood.

Felix. He’s also a simp and is down to match with you if you want. The only reason he’s below Chan is he’s got a LOT of opinions on what he’s gonna wear, and if your idea isn’t a vibe for him, he’s gonna let you know. I think he’d like the classic romanticism of Romeo + Juliet (the Leo and Claire Danes movie obv) or Link and Zelda!

Jeongin. He thinks it’d be fun to coordinate but doesn’t mind if you don’t! If you’re super into it though, he’s down as long as you guys work together and choose something that pleases you both. He’d get super shy day of Halloween and almost back out, but he goes through with it. I think for him, he’d be into Spiderman and Spider-Gwen and he’d reaaaaally appreciate that Spiderman mask when you start getting too much attention. He’d also be into Beetlejuice and Lydia imo.

Changbin. He’s only this low bc he’s not necessarily excited to match with you, he more just expected it to happen. But if you suggest a non-couple costume he is 1000% throwing a fit bc how dare you suggest not matching??? Are you his baby or not??? He’s also the only one of them who’d be down to be something spooky or scary with you, like any killer and final girl, or if he’s feeling super romantic, he’d be the Gomez to your Morticia.

Lee Know. He’s not opposed to it, but he’s not gonna put in a whole lot of effort to coordinate. He’s also stubborn so if he already knows what he wants to do, he’s probably gonna stick to it. Once the time comes, he finds it really cute you put in so much effort just to match with him. He’d be into being Anakin and Padme or some Harry Potter characters with you. But fuck that antisemitic terf ass jkr.

Seungmin. Tsundere ass would not try to coordinate with you. In fact, he tells you it’s a little embarrassing and he does NOT wanna wear something he doesn’t like. He also just doesn’t seem like someone who’d love the whole dressing up thing anyway so he’s doing something simple and dressing up like a baseball player. It’s an outfit he already has, so why not? But jokes on him, you dress up to match bonus points if it’s from the baseball scene in Twilight. He wants to be embarrassed but really, he thinks it’s hot you put that much effort into it. He goes around telling everyone you matched on purpose even though he initially hated the idea.

Can I be your boyfriend for Halloween?

"Please, tell me that you're as lame as I thought you were and you haven't decided on a costume yet."

There's no need to shout since Derek would hear him from whichever part of the loft he is presently using to hide from the pack and society in general. Usually, the man can be found in the open living room slash bedroom area doing pushups or reading romance novels that he immediately gets rid of as soon as someone else appears, but this time, Stiles stumbles upon him in the kitchen. He's still somewhat flabbergasted by seeing Derek do something as mundane as cooking, so he spends some time in the doorway gawking at the domestic imagery, as well as taking advantage of having Derek's backside turned towards him. He's shameless, so what?

Derek catches him staring but doesn't stop his dinner preparations. He lifts an eyebrow at Stiles over his shoulder, and Stiles sighs, knowing from past experiences what Derek wants to hear: why, what, how am I involved?

"I was planning to do matching costumes with Scott but he violated the bro code and ditched me."

Derek's lips quirk, alongside his eyebrows, into a "What did you expect?" look.

"Yeah, I should have seen it coming, but I thought Lydia didn't like those... couple-y things, ya know."

Derek smiles, small and amused, and Stiles has to concede his point. Lydia does like couple-y things if she can do them with Scott.

"Anyway, now I have no means to bring my awesome vision to life, unless..." Stiles trails off, eyes wide and lashes fluttering in a way that Lydia once described as 'cute'.

Malia called it 'pathetic', but whatever. It worked on her, too.

Derek puts the baking pan into the pre-heated oven before turning around with the characteristic arm fold over his chest that makes his biceps look huge. Perfect.

"What's the idea?"

Stiles's eyelashes quit their rapid fanning in favour of staring at the man. "Wait, you would seriously do it?"

"I wasn't planning to dress up for Lydia's party," Derek explains, "But she told me it was mandatory." And he doesn't really pout, but he does look like those dogs who simply abhor bathing and glare at you when you try to wash them like you're admitting them to the shelter.

Stiles is pretty sure Derek wouldn't appreciate it if he cooed at him right now. So he settles on a simple "huh."

Then he realizes that Lydia might have just secured a costume partner for him, and he does a mini fistbump in celebration of his serendipity.

"So you're in?" 

Derek rolls his eyes, but Stiles can already see him cracking. "Tell me the idea and I'll decide."

Stiles grins and dives into outlining his epic idea.

"I'm so happy for you, guys!"

Stiles whirls around to come face to face with a beaming Kira in a pink sweater and a blonde wig, plus her dark shadow that is Malia beside her. 

"Um, thanks?" He says, sipping leisurely from his cup of Lydia's punch.

"Who made the first move?"

Kira's eyes are twinkling with excitement, and Stiles wishes he could return it but he has no idea what the kitsune is talking about. He frowns, light and questioning, and Kira's smile falters at once.

"You and Derek are together, right?"

Stiles nearly dunks his drink on himself as he flails to slap his hand over Kira's mouth while the other discards his cup on the counter. A cursory look around assures him that Derek isn't in earshot, and only then does he ease his hand off Kira's stunned face.

"Nope, they aren't," Malia concludes, not even considerate enough to lower her voice, "Should have known they would be the type of idiots to come to a party in a couple's costume and still not get a clue."

"It's not a couple's costume," Stiles insists because it's really not.

"But you came together," Kira argues, visibly baffled, "And everyone is paired up here."

Stiles carries his gaze across the room and winces.

Mason and Corey are on the couch, feeding each other candy and portraying different Kens from the Barbie movie, while Liam and Theo - in Spiderman and Deadpool costumes respectively - argue about which formative Halloween movies Theo hasn't seen yet and if they can sneak into Lydia's bedroom to watch it without getting mauled. Erica and Boyd - dressed as Kara and Luther from one of Erica's favourite video games - are in a fierce UNO fight against Allison, who has transformed into a ladybug-themed heroine with a yoyo attached to her belt, and Isaac, who has a black full body suit stretching over his body with floppy cat ears to top it off. In a far-away corner, Lydia is teaching Scott how to do a dance routine for Tiktok so she can brag about their Ember and Wade costumes (and her boyfriend) to all her followers.

"Okay, I know how this looks..." Stiles turns back to the pair with raised palms.

"Sus," Malia cuts in with a deadpan expression, and it's the first time Stiles thinks that Kira might be a bad influence on her.

"It's not! I just had this amazing idea for Scott and me, okay? Then my best friend bailed on me, which is okay, 'cause Derek is more appreciative of my genius anyway."

"But he came dressed as himself," Malia points out and even mimics the leather jacket that the other man has put on for the party.

"No, he's Brand!" Stiles groans in frustration, but no clarity descends upon the two girls. "From the Tarot Sequence book series?"

"Sorry, haven't read it," Kira grimaces apologetically. "What is it about?"

"Okay, so the whole book is centred around these two guys who are Companions," Stiles starts his prepared rant, "I'm Rune, the scion who uses magic to kick ass, and Derek is Brand, his companion who's trained to be, like, Rune's personal bodyguard. Their relationship is way more, though, 'cause they are more like inseparable best friends, or platonic soulmates, I guess. They trust each other more than anyone and they would die for each other, and Rune sometimes runs headfirst into trouble, and Brand is always there growling about it but he's just really scared that something will happen to Rune. And they banter a lot and tease each other, but they know the other more than anyone else and there's nothing greater than their love for each other."

Stiles is a little bit out of breath by the end of it, his big earnest eyes alternating between the two silent girls who, sadly, don't seem to share his enthusiasm. 

"And that's you and Derek?" Malia finally asks, after a pause.

Stiles nearly chokes on his spit. "I mean, yeah, we're dressed as them. But it's just a costume - one I was planning to do with Scott."

"Yeah, I'm just filling in for him."

Stiles freezes at the familiar deep timbre behind him and sees from the corner of his eyes as Derek grabs his abandoned cup and downs the liquid inside it in one gulp. His smile, afterwards, lacks its usual shine.

"That's not-"

"We don't have that kind of bond. Right, Stiles?"

Stiles's mouth feels too dry, suddenly. Kira and Malia excuse themselves (well, Kira drags a nosy Malia away) and Stiles stands there without an idea of how to get himself out of the hole that he's dug under his feet. Derek eventually gets bored of the fish imitation and decides to walk away with a roll of his eyes. 

It wasn't even fond! Derek's eye rolls are always fond when they are aimed at Stiles.

He jolts into action with a bit of delay and weaves through the lounging couples with a fast beating heart. Derek's sitting on the porch swing outside and doesn't push him off when Stiles joins him and starts stealing glances at the other man. Derek's stubbornly looking ahead and avoiding eye contact, so Stiles reckons that it's all or nothing now. Accidentally revealing his more-than-friendship feelings will be worth it, if it means Derek will know how important he truly is.

"You're not just a substitute," Stiles begins with the easiest truth, knowing that Derek is most likely listening to his heartbeat.

"It's okay, Stiles," Derek sighs, still looking away, "I know that you and Scott have something special. You're best friends, brothers even. And I'm just..."

"You're amazing," Stiles finishes, not a single trip in his heartbeat.

That finally gets Derek to look at him. His eyes are wide, cautious, and so, so vulnerable. Stiles can't imagine stopping now.

"You're incredibly kind and compassionate. Very smart, too, even though you think no one else notices. You have this dry sense of humour that makes me laugh even when I feel like I can't, and you're so fucking strong. The strongest person I know."

Derek opens his mouth and then promptly closes it. There's a light dust of pink over his carefully trimmed beard that Stiles can't look away from.

"I don't need you to be Scott," Stiles tells him with a smile that's probably too affectionate to pass off as friendly but he doesn't care, to be honest, "I need you to be you."

The surprise makes Derek's lips part enough to give a tiny peek of his bunny teeth, and Stiles thinks it's the most adorable sight right until Derek smiles back at him. "I'm not a very good Brand, am I?"

Stiles takes a huge, encouraging breath. 

"I think you'd make a good Addam."

There's a glint in Derek's eyes, a different, burning one, and Stiles knows. He knows Derek understands what he's implying and the other man is not running away in disgust. No, Derek is actually moving closer, his eyes enticingly green, and Stiles leans forward as his eyelids fall shut on instinct. They meet in the middle in a hesitant kiss, and Stiles pinches himself just to make sure it's real.

"You read the books?" Stiles grins once they part, unable to contain his giddiness. It's been three days since he's told Derek about them.

"You were very passionate," Derek mumbles as an explanation, his blush turning a deeper shade of red. It's utterly precious.

"Sap," Stiles accuses light-heartedly, but he can't seem to stop smiling.

Derek takes his hand then, kisses the back of it, and flashes a coy smile up at Stiles. It makes the younger man's blood pump faster in his veins.

"Only for you, Hero."

Show Off Your Citizen Creations with Citizen Jams!

Creative minds of all kinds, listen up! The Hermit Citizen Hub has introduced a weekly community event, inviting all artists and writers to participate through a series of prompts released each Friday. If you are looking for an excuse to draw your citizen but are feeling shy about it, or you feel you are running out of ideas, here’s a way to scratch that itch to create with the Hermit Citizen Hub’s new Citizen Jams! All forms of artistic mediums are welcome!

Citizen Jams, or creative prompts focused on encouraging all members of the Hermit Citizen Hub to show off their citizens, were created by Gene, also known as FireApyr, on May 11th. Found in the Discord server, these prompts have encouraged a greater number of people to broaden their citizens’ horizons through various scenarios and costumes. This thread, Citizen Prompts, can be found under Citizen Art, with a specific thread linked in the initial post to Citizen Prompt Suggestions. Your fellow citizens have added several suggestions and there is always room for more!

These suggestions have a wide range, including but not limited to displaying your citizen wearing their favorite pajamas, participating in Zedvancements, showing up in Empires, appearing in pixel art, appearing as a Villain (or a Hero if they are already one), attending a board game night, during their favorite season, drawn with the opposite color scheme of their design, cosplaying a Hermit, and training a Warden.

Two prompts and many submissions have debuted on the server as of May 24th, much to the delight of our server member participants! The first prompt, suggested by Hyo, was “Your Citizen as a DND Character,” prompting artwork of citizens as paladins, rangers, wizards, and more. The second prompt, suggested by BitterTea, for this week, is “Your Citizen at a Tea Party.” Please leave your submissions to the Citizen Prompts in the overall Citizen-Art thread. We look forward to seeing your citizens in all kinds of situations and costumes!

Citizen Appreciation: Topaz, the Quintessential Patron of the Arts!

If you have ever visited the art channels of the Hermit Citizen Hub, you know that every artist is on the edge of their seat as they read the latest compliment from our endlessly hardworking artistic cheerleader, Topaz. Since April 19th, our fellow citizen and adamant patron of the arts, Topaz, has tracked down each art piece posted in our Citizen Art channels on our Discord server and to leave positive affirmations for each artist’s piece. She points out specific details and praises each piece for the artist’s personal flair, highly motivating the spirits of every drawer, painter, pixel artist, and crafter who crosses the threshold from merely observing others’ art pieces to sharing their work with a larger audience in that of the Hermit Citizen Hub.

Topaz is a fellow artist herself, having depicted her own Hermit Citizen as a member of Pearl’s cleaning team, who also takes care of Bdubs’ horses and leans into her medium as a video game character, providing her own sound effects when jumping and upon deaths. She lives in a treehouse north of Mumbo Jumbo’s vault and shows her skill strengths in Mining, Exploring, and Overall Dexterity in navigation. She is also a very decent prankster and builder. Many citizens recognize her art style for its high emphasis on bold shapes and straightforward colors, with thick outlines to give her work that extra punch of polished realization. In addition to her own citizen artwork, she has also created fanart of The Life Series, Empires SMP, fellow citizens of the Hermit Citizen Hub, has shared her own artistic improvement in redrawing her older character art, and has drawn several Hermits for the Hermit A Day art challenge. Topaz also crochets in addition to drawing traditional and digital artwork. All citizens are encouraged to take a look at her pieces in the art channels if they have not done so, yet!

Topaz’s eye for both her own and others’ artistic traits is exceptionally perceptive. In her affirmations, she highlights every wonderful peculiarity and characteristic that each artist wishes to convey. Everything from the details of how meticulously textured a character’s costume is, to the dynamic color choices of each character’s design, to the uncanny lifelike nature of a character’s eyes, and anything else that you may not say aloud but want to make a known idiosyncrasy of your artwork, will be featured in Topaz’s assessment of your piece. Another staple of Topaz’s affirmation is the returned “Thank YOU!” to each person’s gratitude, turning it back to the artist for sharing their inimitable creative styles and depictions of both their own and others’ characters. 

Topaz’s unbridled enthusiasm towards her fellow artistic community is returned as frequently as the awestruck members can muster, many of whom had insisted that she receive recognition for her crucial influence on the server. Because of this, Topaz has received a special role in the Hermit Citizen Hub in honor of her foundational presence as the quintessential patron of the arts: Hermitcity Art Society, as a seal of appreciation from the moderation team. This was given in reflection of the thanks that the community would like to show her.  We would like to congratulate Topaz for her emotional labor, support, and dedication to this community, and we wish her all the best!

Do you need to send a package, letter, or perhaps a collection of prized trinkets to your favorite citizens? 10K Blocks is a delivery service run by Hyo the Human that can handle everything and anything YOU need to be sent to anyone on the server! Diamonds are the commonly accepted form of payment, but if you’re short on diamonds, sentimental items will also suffice for anything you’re looking to swiftly ship to your companions! Send them a message in the Citizen Talk thread for any of your creature and environment studies needed! Any chance for them to share their knowledge is a chance for you to look at your chosen subject with brand-new eyes. All they ask for is 1-10 diamonds (depending on the level of danger) and an attentive ear!

Do you need any medicines or potions? Come to The Pharmacy, located in the center of the shopping district, run by Ender R. Enderwoah! Prices fluctuate based on Ender’s mood and your own demeanor, so put your best face on when you stop by! If you’re pleasant enough, you could even find common items for just a diamond a piece! Find Ender’s thread, The Pharmacy, and leave them a note!

Are you looking for materials from the deep dark areas of the Overworld? Sculk Shriekers, Deepslate, Glowberries, and more are available just east of iBuy at The Quarry Crop, run by Ashes! Give them a message in Citizen Talk, and keep your inventory open for materials in bulk! Prices vary depending on the danger factor, but are well worth it!

Are you looking for a prosthetic or mobility aid from one of the most skilled crafting citizens on the server? Look no further! You can find something perfectly suited to yourself and your style from On the Move! Located at a small workshop near the beach behind iBuy, you can purchase individually customized, hand-crafted, efficiently made, personalized prosthetics and mobility from Fin! Find their Citizen I.D. card and leave a message for them!

Do you need a child, pet, or an inebriated companion to be looked after? For 2 diamonds per hour (or a stockpile of building supplies), you can drop off your ward at The Copper Clinic and Daycare, run by Doc Zero in the Shopping District! In addition, if you are injured or looking for a medical check-up, you may receive a free referral to The Pharmacy as well, though donations are appreciated! Lost and Found

The following items were brought in from across the server this week. As nobody knows who they belong to, they have been categorized as lost. If you recognize any of the following or would like to report a lost item, do reach out to us at [email protected]*

Item 1: A blue glass bottle with a scroll inside. The scroll shows a blueprint for a hot air balloon station. This bottle was found near Keralis’ shipyard. The blueprint seems to be recently drawn, however, the paper is turning yellow due to age. When asked about these blueprints, no one in the area had claimed them, nor had they heard of any plans for a hot air balloon station. The blueprints are drawn in colored pencil and the bottle itself glows in the dark. If this bottle belongs to you, please tell us if you are still planning to create a hot air balloon station when you come to claim it!

Item 2: An old notebook containing transcripts of a quiz show. This notebook is a spiral notebook with an orange and yellow cover that contains several transcripts and notes from a quiz show of an unknown name. It is unknown what the title of the show was, as it was never written down. The transcripts of the show appear to involve a tumultuous style of hosting which involves bringing in contestants to fist-fight each other before answering questions related to various Minecraft mobs. To the person who owns this book, please know that we have been very entertained by its contents!

Item 3: A cloth doll found near Enchantea depicting a gothic baseball player. This doll was found in near-perfect condition just outside of the shop. It is approximately 11 inches tall and has a black baseball uniform with gothic jewelry around the neck and wrists, with four ear piercings. It has curly green hair and silver button eyes. A patch of a peanut shell is sewn onto the back of its shirt. Neither a baseball nor bat was found with it.

Item 4: 6 2-inch coins made out of brass, all depicting images of fish tails and birds’ wings. These coins are green and surprisingly heavy. Four of them appear brand new, but the others appear to have rusted over many years. Each coin depicts two fish tails and four sets of bird wings, specifically the tails of Rainbow Trouts and the wings of California Condors. Anyone holding these coins notes that they feel as if they are about to be chased down by a threatening being, and everyone we have asked refuses to touch them. If these coins are yours, please claim them as soon as possible.

Item 5: A beige amphora made of clay, depicting the image of several Striders walking across a lava lake filled with dominoes. This amphora was found near Total Chaos. The artwork is painted in shades of orange, red, and dark turquoise. The images are crudely drawn and one of the handles is missing. Nothing was found inside the amphora, and it appears to have never held anything at all, as the inside is perfectly clean. If this amphora belongs to you, please consider displaying some of your plants inside of it!

Spectating Science: Warden Science with Tango Tek for Decked Out

Scientific advancements throughout the Hermit Citizen Hub and among the Hermits themselves continue onward, allowing greater insight into familiar faces. Any citizens who are interested in the instinctual behaviors and idiosyncrasies of creatures of the most dangerous caliber are invited to share their theories related to the focused mob of this article. Wardens today are not as mysterious as they were during their first debut on all servers, however, this does not deter many from inquiring more about the aspects that we do not fully understand, or that we may elaborate upon concerning these sensory beasts.

While last week’s edition of Spectating Science focused on the study of Ravagers from the perspective of your fellow citizen, a biologist and animal behaviorist, Redfeather, this edition focuses on a single day’s experiments conducted by your Hermit, Tango Tek, as he fine-tuned his knowledge of Wardens and continued the early planning stages of his hand-crafted dungeon-crawler game, Decked Out.

Wardens are set to be integrated into the third and fourth levels of Decked Out as the primary threats to Players attempting to collect their artifacts and escape the game with their life. In addition, Wardens were stated to have many intimidating traits that can be used to strike the right level of haste and panic in these Players, but they needed great adjustments to their environment due to their many setbacks. Tango Tek’s live broadcast from May 17th featured trials and experiments conducted on these Wardens in a two-and-a-half-hour session. These experiments centered on necessary changes to increase Warden sensitivity and aggression to make the levels a greater challenge than the previous ones.

One of the Warden’s most significant obstacles, according to Tango Tek, is the extended length of time that a Warden takes to find a Player. This required several assessments of both traversal and sensitivity ranges at the beginning of his broadcast. His initial tests aimed to assess the traversal capabilities of the creatures, finding that the presence of lava slows down a Warden’s walking and running speed, causing it to struggle through its presence. Soul sand will also slow down a Warden’s walking speed. A flow of lava will also easily push a Warden in the stream’s direction, making it unusable for a Warden’s pathing. Wardens do not take damage from lava and are capable of swimming up walls made of lava, but this is not an ideal construction. Instead, Tango Tek settled on using fire in the place of lava for the time being, because it works well to slow down the Player while allowing the Warden to walk and run at its normal pace.

A given advantage for Wardens is their ability to move in a path toward a Player despite their inability to see, and this remains consistent even with the presence of trivial, small dead ends in maze settings. Larger dead ends may cause issues for Wardens, which affects the layout of the third and fourth levels to accommodate a Warden’s initial patterns of pathing. Tango Tek stated that he would likely make each corridor 2 blocks wide at a minimum. He also added that railings are imperative to any staircases if a Warden may risk falling off of them when chasing down a Player.

The next tests conducted centered on Darkness and the sound of Wardens’ heartbeats. Wardens give Players within a 20-block radius the effect of Darkness, which lasts for twelve seconds and is reapplied every six seconds, in addition to creating the sound of an audible heartbeat from approximately 50 to 60 blocks away from a Player. Each Warden’s heartbeat accelerates depending on how aggravated it is, meaning that multiple Wardens will not synchronize their heartbeats with each other. These heartbeats come in tandem with the effect of Darkness given to each Player. The level of Darkness pulsing can physically be changed by each Hermit through their out-of-world settings, and can even be set to not pulse at all. Tango Tek stated, however, that this is not an ideal way to play the game and interferes with the way that he wants them to experience the game’s environment. He also confirmed that the primary heartbeat sound effect that was added to Decked Out overpowers the heartbeat of the Wardens, but he does not see this as a large issue and prefers the sound of the Decked Out sound system to take priority in order to build up the Player’s sense of urgency.

The most intensive tests during the broadcast related to the aggravation and ability of a Warden to track down and kill a Player. With the help of a data pack created by his friend, Grifter, Tango Tek proceeded to measure the way that Wardens’ aggravation becomes affected by different factors. The first section of these intensive tests related to distance, a Warden’s sense of touch, projectiles, and a Warden’s use of scent. Wardens sniff when they are idle and can detect all Players within a 25-block radius. This does not make them aggravated, but it does send them on the path to the Player. A Player walking is the first step to aggravating a Warden, with the others being a Player throwing a projectile that physically contacts the Warden and touching the Warden with one’s bare hands or a weapon. A Warden that is hit with a projectile is easily aggravated faster than in any other way that a Player may antagonize it. A Warden’s roar is also a sign of its aggravation rising. Sneaking is the Player’s first line of defense against aggravating a Warden. If a Warden is not able to reach a Player with its long arms, it will release a Sonic Shriek, dealing a heavy amount of damage as well. A Sonic Shriek has a range of 16 blocks horizontally and 20 blocks vertically.

The second part of this intensive period related to environmental sounds and how they affect a Warden’s attention. Wardens always prioritize the vibrations of a Player over the vibrations of other objects but are also drawn to other objects that create sound within their vicinity. Wardens will not use their sniffing ability when they are distracted by noise-making objects when the Player is over 16 blocks away, which limits the way that Tango Tek may use such elements in relation to Wardens.

The third part of this section involved Tango Tek running through a maze of three-block-tall walls to get to the other side and successfully outrun a Warden. He then added more Wardens upon realizing that merely one Warden proved to be unsatisfactory. The testing area ranged approximately 70 by 70 blocks, the approximate size that Level Three is planned to match. Level Three may be larger, and will also include vertical portions. The goal of creating Level Three is to make the terrain harder for the Player to navigate, but easier for the Warden to traverse and track the Player down. Due to the set of Wardens placed within the testing area taking a longer amount of time to track down the Player and become aggravated, Tango Tek needed a solution to enhance the Wardens’ sensory input. These tests confirmed the need for a new set of experiments to increase the Wardens’ range of aggravation and tracking time.

The final portion of the broadcast showed Tango Tek’s solution to these timing issues. Tango Tek, through the use of calibrated sculk sensors (a future addition to the game), amethyst blocks, and pistons, successfully increased the range of a Warden’s aggravation from 16 blocks to a full 50 blocks. Through the connection of these “nodes” (single units consisting of a calibrated sculk sensor, amethyst block, and piston), he not only increased the range of aggravation but significantly increased the speed of a Warden tracking down a Player and shortened the time in which a Warden would become aggravated by said Player. He describes this grid format of nodes in the way of activating them through the pistons, set off by the amount of clank generated by each Player. During the Player’s run, they will activate the connected calibrated network depending on how long they stay in the dungeon. Despite this critical improvement, Tango Tek must moderate the nodes that are used throughout the entire dungeon to ensure that the game is not too difficult for the Player to complete.

The broadcast ended shortly after this experiment, leaving its viewers with a greater understanding of the capabilities, setbacks, and potential enhancement of Wardens. With this research and experimentation, Tango Tek has greatly enhanced the intelligence and threat levels posed by Wardens to Players for Decked Out, specifically through increasing their range of traversal and aggravation towards the Player. Thanks to Tango Tek’s use of calibrated sculk sensors, Wardens will be a more formidable presence as they take center stage in Levels Three and Four of Decked Out. The overall goal in this endeavor is to encourage the Player to be stealthy and quick, rather than to frustrate them and tempt them to brute force their way through the dungeon.

We invite any applied researchers to bring forth any growing developments that they would like to share in this segment and look for Cirrus, the Shoebill, for an interview about themselves and their work. In addition, tangents and rambles are more than welcome. No discovery is too small, and it is never too late to teach your fellow citizens something new!

Apologies for the delayed response, we here at The Seers all mysteriously disappeared to a death game. But we’re back now! Hopefully just in time to save you from your scheming pets…

The most important thing is to find out why they’re plotting, have you not been feeding them their favourite snacks often enough? Are they not getting enough attention? Did you step on one of their feet last week? Figure out why they’re mad and try to bribe them with extra of whatever they’re mad about. 

If that fails, separate them. They may be friends, but if they’re dangerous they cannot play together. I’m not saying rehome any of them, just maybe move Bobby away from your base until things blow over!

If you try that and Bobby ends up escaping and returning to plotting with the cats, make a noise machine. It will entertain him long enough for him to forget about whatever they were plotting about. 

If all else fails, pack your bags and leave. Perhaps consider the perimeter, because that’s probably more safe then your house right now. - The Seers

Prompt 1: “Shut up and give me some candy.”

Saeyoung x Reader. 722 words.

You looked out of the window of the car; seeing the moon so big and full made you feel small, but also its shine filled you with a sense of comfort. A full moon lit up the quiet city and now the road on a Halloween night, as Saeyoung drove back to the bunker from Jumin’s apartment. Yoosung had suggested a few weeks ago for the RFA to do a small Halloween gathering and they all agreed, with Jumin even offering his penthouse as the venue for said reunion. You don’t see your friends as often since they all have busy lives, so whenever you all actually show up at a reunion, you appreciate every moment you get to spend with them.

“Remember to wear a costume!” Yoosung constantly reminded the group chat, insisting on having a costume contest. So, Saeyoung went all out; the redhead has experience with sewing and modifying clothes thanks to the many years he spent going undercover for his agency, so he was happy he could use his knowledge to put some costumes together for the both of you. You had shopped for the basics and you helped your boyfriend with the details.

You both agreed to dress up as Beetlejuice and Lydia, as you recently had watched the movie Beetlejuice and really enjoyed it. The thing is, Saeyoung insisted on going as Lydia; so you showed up at Jumin’s place wearing the striped Beetlejuice suit and Saeyoung wearing a dramatic red gown, with a matching veil.

All of your friends were wearing nice costumes; but by the time of voting, the both of you quickly took the lead of the contest, with Yoosung declaring you as winners.

“I can’t believe Yoosung baked all of those treats for us! I feel like we won the lottery.” Saeyoung was the one to break the silence of the car ride. You chuckled as you looked down, a basket full of baked goods and some candy sitting on your lap.

“I know, right? I don’t know what we’re gonna do with all of these.” You answered, taking a close look at the treats on the basket; Yoosung had included several kinds of candy, making sure there’s something for every type of sweet tooth, and he also included several homemade cookies and brownies.

“What do you mean? we’re gonna eat all of it and have a sugar rush and go to bed really late. The night is young, after all.” A mischievous smile grew on your partner's face as he explained his evil plan to you. Once again, a small laugh left your lips.

“Actually, no more candy for you, sir,” you spoke, holding the basket closer to your chest and away from him, trying to keep the treats away from the already energetic redhead. “You’ve already had plenty of candy at Jumin’s. I don’t think it’s a good idea to keep eating. Also, it’s already pretty late. You’re gonna ruin your sleeping schedule.”

Saeyoung took his eyes off the road for a second to look at you. “What?” he chuckled, “c’moooon, let’s eat all of this candy tonight.”

“No-uh,” you shook your head.

“C’mon, sweetie,” his eyes once again on the road, he stretched one of his hands at you, laughing, which made you laugh, too. “Shut up and give me some candy.”

“Actually, could the both of you just shut up?” The cranky redhead sitting on the back spoke for the first time in the whole car ride. You felt your face heating up, his voice reminding you that you weren’t alone with your boyfriend. Saeyoung couldn’t help but laugh.

“Want some candy too, Saeran?” He asked his twin.

“Actually, yeah.” He replied, stretching one of his hands to the front of the car, mimicking his brother’s antics. You shook your head lightly and handed Saeran the whole basket, making him smile in return.

“Just make sure to save some candy for me, please.”

“Absolutely no.” Saeran replied while unwrapping a lollipop.

And Saeyoung kept driving into the night as he continued fighting about his candy consumption, this time with his brother. It was nights like this that reminded you why you loved him, and why you enjoyed spending time with him and the RFA; and you can’t help but wonder how your future Halloween’s together will look like.

don't mind the ketchup and mayo, last time i cooked burgers i also added fresh garlic and some curry powder,was delicious. Also love the sauce in tasty cheese from mcdonald's!!Any veggies go for me (i do love some pickles), i don't think i have a preference in grilling but i don't like burger king one's, it feels like fake smoke

On that day Carol headed over for HSA... she wanted to actually go there for the Event they were making, the Bittersweet serving meant butler and Maids alike would walk around and given she had a huge fondness of the Butler aesthetic she wanted to grab a seat as well... yet arriving there she was greeted by Brenda who was not into the event and asked her to fill her role in exchange for money... with a Sigh Carol reluctantly agreed, after all she still gets to see the costumes when she helps out... yet putting on that frilly dress, having a ponytail and showing off some Features with this Outfit made her a little emberassed.

At the start of her shift however she noticed one gaze that made her even more Red... Kira, Metaron and James said at one table.... one would be enough to make her head over Heels but both of them... and they had to see her like this. She took a deep breath. She could do it. And so with a smile she walked up to that table to take an order.

"Welcome Masters.~ What can I bring to you?♡"

She cringed a little at what she said but saw James face grew red looking at her her Kira excited just spoke up.

"You look so cute, Carol, I know what to order but after I need to Go to the bathroom quick."

She took the orders as Kira quickly ran to the bathroom and her two crushes sit there still fixated on her... as she turned her Back she overheard something..

"She looks so hot like this it's hard to focus."

"That you are obvious...."

"Don't say that like you don't agree with me."

"No she is pretty hot in this look but... I can keep it in my pants."

A slight chuckle in happiness escaped her... so they liked her look... guess she could make note of that for the future... with a pep in her step she walked off and took care of the orders but even as she returned with the food her gaze had something more sweet and teasing about it.

"I appreciate the compliments but you two don't have to keep them behind my back."

Hearing this she left them both like they were exposed but left something with them.

On that day Osyron was just relaxing on the usual hotsprings... slowly getting out cause he felt rested enough and put a towel around his hips. As he got out however... he noticed one face gawking at him like and Idiot. His Actor boyfriend who didn't learn to read the signs.

"Shit, you're hot... wait."

He regretted his words imidiatly and wanted to run but the God used his magic to tie him to the nearby wall and look in his eyes.

"Fool, I heard you and even if I welcome the flattery but you can't weasel yourself out of this barging in."

"The smoke didn't make it clear where I was going I swear."

The God let looked at him with those bright eyes of his as Jason still squirmed a little from being cornered like this before sighing.

"I let you go but you owe me one, Mortal."

He left his magic undone as Jason had a breath of relief...

"Once I dressed up, I demand you take me to this... Café or what you mortals call it. The one with the Suncakes and dont you dare run away again... you know my lightning finds you."

"Jeez Osy... as Ruthless as ever... fine I wait."

Despite the slight scare at least He did have a lot to stare at... and admire untill the God was ready.

Choosing the Battlearena on crystaleon Lydia and Sherya had a fierce fight with another... using their whole strength to wrestle the other down. Nobody dared to watch them, solely cause it was that dangerous to even be in the Arena... yet despite some Size advantage Lydia eventually had a good opportunity to pin her down on the ground... using her Shadow hands against those four arms..

"Didn't we say no magic?"

"You said to come at you with all you got."

She smirked seeing a bitemark she left on her neck and licked some blood off looking down at her.

"You look quite hot like this, godess of darkness. But don't think you won that easy."

With one grip she turned the table and pushed her against the ground.

"Those fierce eyes are attractive as well... this Motivation I something I wanted from you... well then let's continue."

Despite the fighting they both seemed quite affectionate in between even if after the fight the wounds and scratches looked fierce, however they vanished more quickly from Lydia.. sadly It ended in a draw but it just left Shreya Hunger for more fights with the godess.

Decent movies I liked / appreciated but not loved: The Night Stalker (1972), Everything Everywhere All at Once (2023). 3. wtf movie/ending: Teen Wolf: The Movie (2023). Just an overall impression. Literally WTF. 4. Best scenes: the alleyway break-up / 'She left me two hours ago' (House of Strangers, 1949); confronting the senator (The Changeling, 1980); Those You've Known / The Dark I Know Well (Spring Awakening, 2022). 5. Favourite genres: drama, fantasy, mystery. 6. Favourite directors: Peter Medak (The Changeling, 1980). I also like  John Llewellyn Moxey for The Night Stalker (1972) (surprisingly), Joseph L. Mankiewicz for House of Strangers (1949) and  Daniel Kwan + Daniel Scheinert for Everything Everywhere All at Once (2022). 7. Favourite actors: George C. Scott (The Changeling, 1980); Edward G. Robinson, Susan Hayward, Richard Conte (House of Strangers, 1949); Michelle Yeoh, Ke Huy Quan (Everything Everywhere All at Once, 2022); 8. Least favourite performances: anybody in Teen Wolf: The Movie (2023). I reiterate, what the fuck? 9. The most wasted cast: Teen Wolf: The Movie (2023). They brought almost everyone back and made this abomination? How was this even allowed to happen? Let's count. Tyler Posey, Crystal, Holland Roden, Shelley Hennig, JR Bourne, Ian Bohen, Colton Haynes, Linden Ashby, Melissa Ponzio, Ryan Kelley, Seth Gilliam, Orny Adams, Dylan Sprayberry, Khylin Rhambo, Tyler Hoechlin. There are so many just baffling choices as well. Bringing back Stiles' dad without Stiles and their dynamic. Bringing back the Nogitsune without Stiles, Kira or her family. Bringing back Liam and Mason, but not having them interact at all. Revivng Alison (a wtf moment in itself) and not having her reunite with Lydia. Breaking up Stiles and Lydia off-screen for the dumbest of reaons. Not having Scott and Liam exchange a single line. Getting Alison and Scott back together. Everything to do with Derek (not having him interact with either Peter or Malia (who themselves don't interact at all), introducing his son whose existance doesn't even make sense, killing him off). I could go on and on. This film is an insult and a nightmare. Moving on. 10. The best wasted premise: Teen Wolf: The Movie (2023). The idea of bringing back this show for one last adventure is cool, but you need to have, you know, a script before you do that. 11. Best premise: Pandora and the Flying Dutchman (1952). 12. Favourite cast: House of Strangers (1949). Edward G. Robinson, Susan Hayward, Richard Conte, Luther Adler, Paul Valentine, Efrem Zimbalist, Jr., Esther Minciotti. 13. Favourite on-screen duos:  George C. Scott x Melvyn Douglas (The Changeling, 1980);  Jonathan Groff x Lea Michele (Spring Awakening, 2022);  Edward G. Robinson x Richard Conte; Susan Hayward x Richard Conte (House of Strangers, 1949);  Michelle Yeoh, x Ke Huy Quan (Everything Everywhere All at Once, 2022). 14. Favourite on-screen relationships: Max Monetti x Irene Bennett (House of Strangers, 1949). She gives as good as she gets. 15. Favourite quote: Can't remember anything... 16. Favourite fact discovered in 2023: Jonathan Groff and Lea Michele are best friends in real life and he supported her when she went back to Broadway to play the lead in Funny Girl. 17. The most overrated film: I kind of think that  Everything Everywhere All at Once (2022) is a tad overrated. I like it, just not nearly as much as everyone else seems to. 18. The most disappointing film: Teen Wolf: The Movie (2023). 19. The biggest surprise: The Changeling (1980). 20. Best cinematography: John Coquillon (The Changeling, 1980). 21. Best set design: Keith Pepper (The Changeling, 1980). 22. Best costume design: Shirley Kurata (Everything, Everywhere All at Once, 2022). 23. Best music: The Changeling (1980). 24. Best prooduction choice: casting Richard Conte to be a tough, but ultimately good guy. He's great at playing villains, but his overwhelming charisma makes for pretty interesting good guys as well. 25. Worst production choice: releasing Teen Wolf: The Movie (2023). Absolute atrocity this film is. 26. Film of the month: The Changeling (1980) with House of Strangers (1949) a close second.
