Everybody wants to steal my girl

Even if he is "slightly" insecure about himself. Warning(s): jealous Klaus, jealous reader, a bit smut (I think) but not 18+, Klaus being an insecure puppy Word count: 7k I guess

She's been my queen since we were sixteen, we want the same things We dream the same dreams, alright, alright?
Klaus stormed into the abattoir in a rage. He promised himself that he would rip Lucien's heart out of his chest as soon as the circumstances were right, making sure he had suffered enough for his heinous act beforehand.
Klaus was the only one who could flirt with his wife.
He'd have to make sure that this pathetic creature got the message the next time they met. Lucien had condemned his life to death anyway, but Klaus might have had the pity to spare him from his creative torture.
Y/N didn't like it when he got blood on the floor. And when their daughter Hope came into the world, she tried to keep the violence around her to a minimum. Which didn't mean Klaus shouldn't fight every potential suitor of his baby's mother. Hope would agree with him if she was old enough.
When he calmed down, he decided to look into the room of their miracle child. He smiled, leaning against the doorframe as he saw Y/N putting their daughter to sleep. She sang an Old Norse lullaby they both knew from their human days.
Klaus flashed back to the days when he was just a teenager, head over heels in love with the daughter of their village chief. Then he wouldn't even have had a chance to hold her hand in public. His family was lower in the village hierarchy, which meant he could only dream of marrying a(n) Y/N. Which didn't stop them from falling in love. And turning her into a vampire with the Mikaelson siblings—the only thing he owed to his mother.
They both wanted and dreamed of the same thing: being together. They've had their ups and downs over the past thousand years, but they've always stayed together. She was the only person in their family that Klaus had never stabbed. Besides, he couldn't. She was a hybrid, just like him. After breaking his curse, it turned out that their lost dreams of having a family together weren't all that lost. Hope appeared. And they both hoped she wouldn't be their only child. But first, they had to deal with their enemies.
Klaus knew he would do anything to protect his girls. And in moments like this—when Y/N smiled softly at him, holding their sleeping daughter in her arms—he knew that his efforts were damn well worth the hard work and sleepless nights.
His wife might just not be so irresistibly, wonderfully beautiful at every fucking moment of the day. It would have saved him a lot of nerves and fits of jealousy every time someone flirted with his goddess.
"Tough day?" Y/n asked, placing her hand on his cheek. Klaus didn't even notice when she approached him.
"It's better since I've seen you, love." he murmured, wrapping his arms around her and pulling her to his chest to bury his nose in her delightfully fragrant hair.
Klaus adored every inch of her.
I know, I know, I know for sure Everybody want to steal my girl Everybody want to take her heart away Couple billion in the whole wide world Find another one cause she belongs to me
On days like this, Klaus was more murderous than usual.
Y/N knew full well that after agreeing to Tristan's polite request for a dance, Klaus was going to explode tonight. Not that she wanted to dance with the brother of a bitch who wanted to take her husband. Tristan's compliments to her, or even the subtle hints of his attraction to her, weren't pleasant to her either.
That was the plan: she was to distract Tristan while Klaus and Freya searched their house. The only thing Elijah didn't take into account was Klaus' enormous tendency to get jealous every time he touched her or received a compliment from another man.
Y/N could have sworn she saw Kol in the crowd eating a pack of popcorn, waiting for things to happen.
So she wasn't surprised when Klaus appeared at one point, snatching her from Tristan's arms with a warning growl. Or that he later marked her neck carefully and every inch of her body that had been contaminated by another man's hands.
Y/N was HIS and no one could ever change that. Not when he was around.
Elijah then burst into your room, being very annoyed at his brother's behavior. But honestly? He should have known better than to hope Klaus wouldn't give in to his jealousy. Tristan was lucky he didn't rip his hands off on the spot. On that day, the second of their first-turned vampires handed down a death sentence. Klaus wouldn't let anyone steal his wife.

The cup of bitterness overflowed in Klaus when Lucien approached you on your annual "wedding anniversary" date. Yes, Klaus dared to show enough of his sentimental and tender side to declare this day a national holiday. No murders and no bodies on this day - that's what he promised you thousands of years ago.
But when he brought your order to the table and saw Lucien shamelessly flirting with you in front of him, inviting you for a drink at his suite, he seriously considered breaking that oath.
Unfortunately, he couldn't do that. He would rather avoid your wrath.
So instead, he walked over to your table with a sly, confident smirk, put the food on the table, and, grabbing your chin, pulled you close to kiss you passionately in front of the vampire.
He was marking his territory.
You smiled as Niklaus ignored Lucien's awkward grunt, only kissing you fiercely. He only let you go when he was sure your lips were swollen enough from his kiss. He smirked at your slightly disheveled state.
"Were you very bored without me, love?" he asked, playing with your hair.
"I kept her company, Klaus." the hybrid winced at Lucien's voice. He mustered up all the rest of his patience and turned his head, acknowledging the vampire's presence.
"Oh really? I didn't notice you, Lucien. You can go now." he brushed him off, turning back to you. Disgust in his gaze gave way to pure adoration. You were always amazed at how quickly you could change his mood with just your presence.
"Nik, sweetheart, it's very inappropriate to talk like that to our oldest friends, isn't it? Lucien, darling, we'll continue our conversation someday. You have to forgive me, but I promised my grumpy husband that I would focus all my attention on him today." you excused the two of you with a cute smile. Lucien just nodded, blushing.
You grabbed Klaus' arm and pulled him out of the bar before he lunged at the vampire.
"Niklaus, my heart and soul, you know I'm only yours, right?" you asked, kissing his cheek to stifle the surge of his jealousy.
"Yes. Which doesn't mean that this creature knows it too. And I'm not grumpy." he grunted, the furrow of irritation on his forehead deepening as he remembered Lucien's sweet words to you. He wanted to vomit as soon as you answered him in an equally nice and polite tone. "Every enemy of mine has a crush on you anyway; even my father doesn't feel disgusted and murderous toward you."
"Yes? You should have seen Aurora's face when she passed us a few minutes ago. She must have sent Lucien here to spoil our evening."
"Wait a minute, love... is that why you've drawn me to this very nice, unexpected, passionate, mind-blowing kiss in the middle of the street?" he asked with an incredulous smirk, watching with satisfaction as a treacherous blush crept onto your cheeks.
"What am I supposed to say? You're as territorial in this relationship as I am. Besides, we don't want to give our enemies the false impression that we see anything but each other, do we?"
"It's good to know you get jealous of me from time to time too, love."
"Time to time? Please, have you seen yourself in the mirror? I'm still at war with all these horny women who want to steal you from me. Such cheekbones, wonderful eyes, and an English accent are the dreams of many."
"Maybe, but I'm probably the one who chases away the most suitors out of the two of us. You have no idea how many people have had a crush on you over the centuries."
Na na na na na na na, na na na na na na na Oh yeah Na na na na na na na, na na na na na na na Alright Na na na na na na na, na na na na na na na She belongs to me
There was going to be a celebration of the summer solstice in their village. Young Klaus was just waiting for you to sneak out with him after the ceremonial rites for your own celebration.
You've been courting each other for over three years now, and today Klaus was finally going to pluck up the courage (with the help of Elijah and Rebekah and Kol's teasing) to propose to you. The ring was safely in his pocket, and the sword was well hidden where the two of you were supposed to spend a romantic evening.
Everything was planned and ready. Nothing could go wrong today. He anticipated and ready for every circumstance, and his mother (the only one of your parents who knew about this secret relationship) promised him to keep his father away from your tryst's place.
But it never occurred to him that another man would try to steal you away from him.
Thor Ragnarsson, the strongest and most powerful young warrior from their village, has been dancing with you since the beginning of the night. And it didn't seem like he was going to let you go that easily, and after the rumors he heard from Kol, Klaus found out that the man wanted to court you.
Klaus had a panic attack. How could he—weak, one of the many sons of a lesser warrior—compete with such a man for your hand? Thor could give you much more than he can. He was stronger, richer, more famous, and handsomer... No. He couldn't think like that. Not when you were destined for each other by fate, stars, spirits, gods, or whatever was watching over you. He had to do something, and fast, before that son of a bitch charms you and you forget the boy who wrote you poems and painted your portraits on the bark of trees.
Klaus may not have been the strongest, but he had something that many of their villagers lacked. He had the cunning, brains, and skill of the best assassin. He will snatch you from this brute's clutches. But first he'll have to figure out how to do it (and take control of the deepening feelings of jealousy that clouded his good judgment.)
Thor only had two weaknesses. Beautiful women and strong drinks. He doubted that he would get drunk so easily; they don't know each other, so even if he offered him something stronger to drink (with an admixture of sleeping herbs), he would probably refuse and sense Klaus' ruse. So he had to resort to Plan B.
"Rebekah!" he shouted, trying to find his sister in the dancing crowd. He found her pretty quickly. He grabbed her hand and pulled her away from talking to some man (whom he and Elijah needed to check out in the future) and dragged the protesting blonde to a place where they could watch you and Thor. "I need your help. Do you see this skunk who is talking to my Y/N? Please distract him so I and Y/N can run away from there. You know I wanted to propose to her tonight, and that lesser man is ruining my whole plan!"
"Couldn't you have asked Tatia? She would have helped you because of Elijah."
"They got out of here before Kol could scare off another woman. Please, Rebekah. Won't you do it for your favorite brother?"
"She better say yes." she sighed in defeat, threading herself into the dancing crowd. After a moment, she hit Y/N's partner and winked at Klaus. He didn't waste a second. He ran over to you and, making sure everyone was too busy to notice you, threw you over his shoulder and took you from there.
"Nik! You can put me down now." she laughed at him as they entered the forest. Klaus reluctantly set her down, immediately drawing her into a passionate kiss, which she eagerly returned. "What took you so long?"
"I had to make sure the inconvenience wouldn't bother us when we sneaked out."
"That inconvenience has a name. Besides, Thor's just my friend. We both know very well that my heart belongs to only one man in this village."
"And who is it, love?"
"Well, he's quite tall; he has blonde hair and beautiful, mesmerizing blue eyes; and he's artistically talented. I've never seen more beautiful things than the ones he's made, and he's soooo jealous of me, but that's only because he loves me and he's pretty insecure about himself. Thinking about it like that, I guess I should make sure he knows how much I desire and love him so he doesn't come up with some weird ideas. What do you think?"
"I think this man was born under a lucky star to be worthy of a miracle like you."
"I forgot to add that he charms me with his words like no one else." you murmured, placing a tender kiss on his lips, which accelerated the rhythm of your already madly beating hearts. He pushed you into a tree, wrapping his arms around your waist and holding you close, not wanting the world to let this moment between you ever end. You pulled away from him, placing your hand gently on his cheek. You smiled, looking at him with love in your eyes as he turned his head to kiss your hand. "I dare not agree with you. I'm the lucky one to have you, Niklaus. And believe me, nothing on this earth can change the way I love you. Nothing is even close enough to steal me from your safe, loving arms."
"So what do you say when..." he knelt down in front of you, trembling with nerves as he took a hand-made ring from his pocket. "Will I offer you my heart, soul, and body forever? You have my eternal devotion, loyalty, and love regardless of your answer, but know that it will be a real honor and a gift from the gods to call you my wife and to have a family with you. I want nothing more in this world than for you to be mine, Y/N. And I may not be the best choice; I am not very rich or strong, but I promise you that I will try to be the best husband for you."
"Oh, Niklaus, you stupid, insecure man... of course I will marry you!" you screamed with tears in your eyes, throwing yourself at him and knocking the two of you to the ground. You both laughed happily as you kissed each other's faces. Klaus gently slid the ring onto your finger.
One satisfying thought lingered in his mind as you both lounged in the field, embracing each other and watching the stars, talking about your future together.
She belongs to me.
Kisses like cream, her walk is so mean And every jaw drops when she's in those jeans, alright, alright? I don't exist if I don't have her The sun doesn't shine, the world doesn't turn, alright, alright?
"Any party you forgot to invite me to?" Klaus flinched at your pretentious, cold tone of voice. He turned away from the table to explain why Lucien, Aurora, and Tristan were sitting at the table with him and his brothers but fell silent, trying to keep his jaw from dropping.
"You look breathtaking as always, darling. Tristan and I missed having a beautiful woman at this table." Klaus stared murderously at Lucien as he kissed your hand, ignoring Aurora's offended snort. He knew you did it on purpose.
This morning, when he asked you to take Hope to visit Aunt Hayley for the day, you were wearing a completely different outfit. Now you were wearing those annoyingly tight jeans that showed off your curves perfectly, and you knew he loved them. Paired with a plunging neckline blouse, diamond jewelry, and little makeup, you looked like a goddess. Aurora could hide in the septic tank with her elegant, short dress.
You smirked at Aurora, sitting down between Lucien and Tristan, across from your husband. And that, too, was a deliberate ploy. You were out of reach of his hands to tease him with your beauty even more, regaling those idiots by your side with your heavenly presence. Klaus will make sure you pay for your little feat tonight.
He shot you a warning look as he noticed Lucien inching slightly closer to you, but you ignored him completely, smiling at some comment from the younger vampire.
Oh, yes, you will definitely be punished.
"Something wrong, sweetheart?" you asked him, knowing full well where his thoughts wandered.
"No. You're messing up the world order by fawning over this scoundrel instead of sitting next to me."
"Perfectly fine, love. Just admiring your beauty tonight."
"Only mine?" you asked, casually swirling her glass of wine and glancing meaningfully at Aurora, who tensed slightly under your gaze. You smiled meanly, ignoring Elijah's staring at you with irritation.
After failing to get anything meaningful out of Lucien (Klaus wouldn't let you get close enough to use his tricks), Elijah figured Aurora's weakness for Klaus could be exploited. But this time he didn't anticipate that you'd pick up on your husband's jealous behavior.
And you were much worse than the mighty hybrid.
"You know you're the only one I belong to, love." Klaus finally answered, shocking the younger vampires. They had never witnessed the world's deadliest vampire softly professing his love and devotion to you. You smiled sweetly at him, offering him your hand, which he kissed without hesitation. You shot a malicious, defiant look at Aurora.
They thought he had you wrapped around his finger, but it turns out to be quite the opposite...
Everybody want to steal my girl Everybody want to take her heart away Couple billion in the whole wide world Find another one cause she belongs to me
"Cheer up, she's just talking to him and not even of her own free will, Nik." you heard Kol calming down your husband when you tried to get information from Lucien.
For some reason, a vampire who has been impersonating your husband over the years has fallen for your extraordinary beauty and become infatuated with you.
Elijah decided to try again and use this to your advantage, much to Klaus' displeasure and fury. This time, Elijah put his other younger brother on guard. Honestly, it was fun to watch Kol occasionally hold Klaus by his henley to keep him from running towards you.
But of the two evils, Kol preferred to fight Klaus' jealousy over yours. You have proven more than once that you are a more dangerous opponent than his already bloodthirsty brother.
"Are you alright, darling?" Lucien pulled you out of your thoughts as he looked at you with concern.
"Yeah, I'm just a little tired. Hope's been getting on my nerves lately. She's so little, and she already has her dad's temper."
"A beautiful and caring woman like you deserves one night off." he said, tucking a strand of hair behind your ear and placing a flower there in the process. You had to admit that it was a very sweet gesture. You blushed involuntarily, smiling shyly at the vampire. "Will you do me the honor?" he asked, extending his hand towards you. You really didn't want to flirt with him, but Elijah didn't give you much of a way out. You hoped Klaus knew that. But from the burning look you could feel in the back of your head as Lucien led you to the dance floor, you knew you were bound to have a fit of jealousy at home.
You just hoped no one would die until you were alone in the same room with your husband to ease his jealousy.
You glanced out of the corner of your eye at Kol and Klaus' hideout. You almost burst out laughing as you saw the two brothers jostling with each other as Kol was trying hard to hold Klaus by his henley.
"Bloody hell, calm down before I put a dog muzzle around your neck!" Kol hissed at him, deftly dodging Klaus' fangs as he tried to inject him with his werewolf venom.
Fortunately, Freya came and took control of them, thanks to which the rest of the night went without incident (except that Klaus barged in at the end of the party and, together with Kol, pretending to be drunk, laughed at their ball. The divas, as always, had to show up.)
You thought everything would be fine, but on the way back, Nik didn't say a word to you, only holding your hand in an iron grip as he put up with Kol's story about what a "jealous and rabid dog" he had been throughout the whole ball.
The son of a bitch only made him angrier and escaping to Davina at the first possible opportunity after you were parked under abattoir.
The rest of the siblings got out of the car quickly, leaving you and Klaus alone. You had to defuse the ticking time bomb that was your husband before it was too late, and also on your own.
"Nik..." you began in a sweet tone, but the man didn't even look up from your joined hands as he played with your wedding ring on your finger. "Nik, listen…"
"Do you regret your decision?"he blurted out, not letting you finish your sentence.
"What?" you asked, shocked about his unexpected, serious question.
You turned to him so you could get a better look at him. He was staring at your hands nervously. You could feel his grip tightening with every second of the tense silence between you two.
"Do you regret marrying me?" he asked in a trembling, rueful voice.
"Oh, Niklaus... my best friend, my king, my soulmate. How could I ever regret marrying my first, true, epic love?" you took his cheeks in your hands, making him look you in the eyes. "I love you. All of you. In your good and bad days, and nothing can change that. None knows me as well as you do. Nobody is even close to making me feel the way you have been making me feel for these last thousand years. You are my peace, my home, my security, my heart, and my everything. There could be a billion people asking for my hand, and I'll choose you again, and again, and again. You, our sweet Hope, and your siblings are the only ones I care about in this bloody world. I'm yours, Niklaus, and I'm not going anywhere in the following eternity."
"Good." he murmured, barely holding back tears, and pulled you into a needy kiss.
You grabbed his shoulders and straddled him, knowing full well that, after moments of uncertainty like this, he needed your tender, firm touch.
And with the uncles and aunts watching over your daughter, you were more than willing to take care of your insecure husband.
The next day you woke up alone in your bed, but in a room filled with various beautiful flowers… none of them were like the one Lucien had given you and Klaus had burned.
Na na na na na na na, na na na na na na na Oh yeah Na na na na na na na, na na na na na na na Alright Na na na na na na na, na na na na na na na
You lay in bed together, sleeping off the long weeks of fighting the de Martels and Lucien. You finally killed them, returning to that blissful, peaceful state. AND! Hope has gained a new Uncle Finn and Grandpa Ansel. And it looked like Aunt Davina would join your happy, crazy, Mikaelosn's bunch, thanks to Kol. Klaus allowed them to look after the baby under the watchful eye of Rebekah and Freya.
It'll probably be years before he trusts them enough to leave them alone with Hope, but that's just how your husband was.
Always a protector, a warrior, repelling any evil that could reach his loved ones.
"Stop thinking. Go back to sleep." he murmured, wrapping his arms around your waist and pulling you closer.
Lately, he has had a strange urge to stay very close to you. Maybe it's because spring is coming? You didn't want to ask him about his wolf side yet. He was fairly new to it and... shy. You were glad that now Ansel would be able to help him understand his other half.
"I thought we established a long time ago that I disobey your orders." you started to comb his hair, smiling as you heard him purr softly. He deserved to rest after bravely defending your family. You didn't know how much time you had left until another bomb exploded in your face.
"You could at least pretend to be a little obedient to your husband." he huffed, his eyes still closed.
"Me? Obedient? I thought you knew what you were taking, Mikaelson. Now, it's too late for any returns." you snorted, amused. Klaus graciously opened one eye, staring at you adoringly.
"I did. You're mine forever." he replied seriously, making your cheeks flush furiously and your heart speed up.
"Good." you whispered, placing a tender, short kiss on his lips.
"Good." he replied, cupping your cheeks and kissing you "properly" stealing your breath away. You enjoyed a moment to yourselves, touching each other tenderly, grounding in the familiar feeling of another's lips.
You two needed it after weeks of jealousy and uncertainty on both sides. Reminders that nothing and no one can take each other away. You belonged to him as much as he belonged to you. Soul and body.
You still were kissing as Klaus slid his hand down your neck, breasts, and belly and started to lift your shirt, making you shiver every time your bare skin made brief contact with his fingertips.
Suddenly, Hope's cry came from downstairs, effectively breaking the moment between the two of you. Klaus groaned, resting his forehead against yours.
"Your daughter is calling us."
"And since when is she just my daughter?"
"Since she's been demanding our attention purely because of her current mood. You spoiled her, Nik, and she's not even 4."
"I know another woman I've spoiled, and she's not complaining about it at all. Maybe that's not a bad thing."
"Just bring her here. I need her too." you backed out, knowing full well you couldn't win this fight. Thousands of dresses, jewelry, and your portraits painted by Klaus spoke clearly against you. Hope may have been spoiled by her dad, but over the past thousand years (and probably many more to come), your husband has made sure you get everything you want. Even a fucking star in the sky.
"As you wish, love." he murmured, kissing your forehead before going to fetch your daughter.
She knows, she knows that I never let her down before She know, she knows that I'm never gonna let take another take her love from me
Klaus couldn't let his guard down. You just had to attract everyone with your beauty. Even the Salvatore brothers. He wasn't worried about Damon. He was too smitten with Elena to even think about making a move to get your affection. But Stefan… the golden, Salvatore hero—who had some dark points in common with him but was definitely a better choice than him. Bloody hell, he would want him too, if he had to choose between himself and him. So he has to work really hard to prove to you that he may be better than Stefan.
It didn't help that the younger vampire was stealing you in front of him and dancing with you most of the time at his mother's ball.
Not also the fact that you were willing to let him lead you after Klaus argued with you about Esther's intentions. You sensed something wrong with her aura, but Klaus believed (or wanted to believe) that his mother meant well. That, like him, she wanted to reunite the family.
You guys argued pretty hard about it. And now you were dancing in the arms of his enemy, honoring him with your beauty, smile and attention.
The worst part of it all was that you didn't send him a single malicious smirk. You didn't tease him like you usually did after your fights. You didn't even notice him as he watched you doggedly, tipping another glass of champagne. His name probably never crossed your mind this evening.
He played with the wedding ring on his finger, watching carefully as Salavtore flirted with you in front of him. He promised himself that this time he wouldn't give in to his jealousy. He won't play by the rules of your game, and he won't play the jealous husband. You will come to him yourself and apologize to him.
At least that was the plan until he saw you take your wedding ring off.
This was too fucking much for him.
He set his glass down on the table and with a quick, slightly unsteady step, walked over to the two of you and twisted Stefan's arm, the exact one he had dared to touch your bare shoulder.
Salvatore groaned, drawing the attention of those around you. But you stood firm as you watched your husband break at least two of his bones. He released Stefan in disgust and grabbed your hand, dragging you through the crowd of onlookers to his studio - the only place where no one would dare disturb you.
"What the hell was that?!" he shouted, slamming the door behind the two of you in anger.
"I have no idea what you are talking about, sweetheart."
"For your own good, don't make me more mad than I already am, love."
"And you, for your own good, remember that I AM NOT the meek wife you can order around! I'm the hybrid, like you, an original. You have no power over me, wolfie, no one has."
"Are you sure, love?" he growled throatily, taking a big step towards her. You backed up until you hit the wall behind you. Klaus walked over to you, your chests rubbing against each other with every breath you took.
He suddenly kissed you aggressively, taking out all his anger and insecurity on you as he bit into your enticing mouth and began sucking the slowly oozing blood. He groaned at the sweet, addictive taste on his tongue.
With one hand, he untangles your complicated hairstyle and wraps your hair around his hand, tilting your head back. While he was busy fucking your neck with kisses, you took advantage of his distraction, digging your nails into his arms, taking revenge for biting your lip. He hissed, annoyed at your bratty attitude, and pressed his lips to yours again. Once he had distracted you, he gave away two of your dresses and slapped you hard on the ass. You moaned into the kiss, rubbing against him, making him even crazier with desire. He had to control himself before you went too far for him to carry out his plan.
"Such a willing… so needy whore for me." you moaned as he brushed against your core, still teasing you, his fangs on your neck as he bit your skin gently. "What a pity I only fuck with my wife." he growled, pushing away from you and heading towards the exit.
"Niklaus!" you gasped in anger as his body heat left you.
"Put your wedding ring back on, and maybe I will help you with your... little problem." he threw over his shoulder, ignoring your shouts of protest and threats.
He didn't even get his hand on the doorknob when you pinned him to the door, kissing him passionately. He grinned, throwing you onto the piano in the corner as he caught a glimpse of the familiar black gold on your finger out of the corner of his eye. Where the fuck should always be. He leaned over you, grabbing your chin hard to make you look into his eyes. Need and lust shone in your irises, making him harder than ever.
"You're mine. I am the only bloody man who'll ever hear your sweet moaning in pleasure like a whore. Nobody can take you away from me. Don't ever dare to think you can have any lover but me."
"Then stop talking and prove it."
"With a fucking pleasure, love." he growled, kissing you hungrily as he tore your dress in half.

Hayley and Jackson's son stayed over at Hope's, and Klaus was more terrified than when he had fought his father. His little girl was playing with some kid. What if he started flirting with her? He had read somewhere that kids that age often find "boyfriends and girlfriends" and call every other person they are friends with that. He wasn't ready to hear from his little daughter that she had a boyfriend.
So ever since Hayley brought him in, he'd been giving the boy a stern look, much to his wife's annoyance. Klaus' reluctance gradually began to turn into indifference when, after hours of time Hope spent with her friend, he did not notice anything suspicious. They'd lasted all day, and there was no indication that the kid would have to be wiped off the face of the earth (or at least taken back to his parents immediately).
But then came breakfast. And Klaus noticed that this kid was staring at you in adoration. And he didn't like it at all.
He was not at all prepared for the insult, the insult directed at him, which the child said after you helped him cut his food.
"You are beautiful and kind as an angel. When I grow up, I will be your husband." Klaus spat out his cup of tea, choking as you tried not to burst out laughing at the 6-year-old's comment and Nik' reaction.
"Honey... but I already have a husband. He'll be very sad if I find another." Hayley called her son, who said goodbye to you and ran to hug Hope before mom took him away. You looked at your stunned husband with amusement. "Well… at least you don't have to worry about him flirting with Hope."
"This kid won't be stepping over the threshold of this house again." he growled, leaving the room to make sure the little one was out for good.
"Niklaus! It is just a child!" you shouted after him, laughing at his jealousy as you ran to make sure he didn't intimidate the poor boy.

It's been quite a few years since Klaus' last fit of jealousy. After the (victory) fight against Inadu, you were finally able to enjoy a moment of normality.
You had lunch at some diner in Mystic Falls; you visited Hope at her school, and somehow it happened that a group of her colleagues accosted her. She introduced you, you chatted with them for a while, and everything was supposed to be a normal dinner with your daughter and her friends, until one of them... crossed the line.
"Now we know from whom Hope inherited such loveliness. You are very beautiful, Mrs. Mikaelson."
You quickly grabbed Klaus' hand across the table, politely thanking the boy. Hope, seeing what was going on, escorted her friends away and left you alone for a moment.
"Niklaus, he's just a teenager."
"Uhm." he muttered absently, staring with daggers at the departing boy.
"He could be our son, for God's sake!"
"Most people on this planet could be our children, but that doesn't stop them from flirting with my wife." you rolled your eyes, smiling with amusement as he growled at the boy staring at you when Hope was explaining something to him. The poor guy looked away in panic and ran away as fast as he could.
You were going to scold your husband for scaring your daughter's friends, but you decided to leave it to Hope. The smart girl knew how to talk to her father better than you. Maybe she'd finally knock those stupid fits of jealousy out of his head, with which you've been struggling for 1,000 years.
"Your pregnant wife, I would like to point out. And we're not going anywhere. Certainly not with a teenager." you said, grabbing his chin and pulling him to you so you could kiss him. Klaus grunted, pleased with the feeling of your lips on his, and automatically placed his hand on your yet-unseen belly, smirking as he felt the pulse of the youngest member of the Mikaelson family growing inside you.
"I'm back!" Hope screamed, stepping behind you with a nervous smile. You raised an eyebrow, while looking at your daughter. Oh, no. You knew that look in her eyes. Klaus had the same gaze as he was about to do... something in Mikaelson's style. "Taking the opportunity... I mean, now that you're reassuring dad. Mom, Dad, I have a boyfriend. His name is Landon, and he's coming to the family dinner on Friday for all of you to meet him. So, bye! I'm going back to school. I love you both!" she said, kissing you both on the cheeks and leaving you both stunned. You burst out laughing at Klaus' shocked, defeated expression.
"Nik? Are you okay?" you asked, still laughing. Your husband's patience really was tested today.
"I told you we should stay in bed today. I knew something bad was about to happen." he growled, giving you a menacing look as you still couldn't stop laughing. You kissed the corner of his lips, a huge smirk still on your face. Klaus rolled his eyes but couldn't hold back his smirk any longer while he was looking at you. The power you hold over him... one your smile was easily changing his mood. Even in situations like this.
"Don't be such dramatic. It's probably better that Hope is dating teens than me, right?"
"Stop it, love." he growled, putting the money on the table. He grabbed your hand and led you out of the bar.
"Stop what?" you asked, pretending to be innocent as you strolled towards your car.
"Teasing me."
"But it's my favorite part of the day… and we all know you enjoy every ounce of my undivided attention." you replied, stopping both of you in front of the car and putting your hands on his shoulders. You stared at him with a mischievous smirk, playing with his hair. He wrapped his arms around your waist, pulling you closer as he leaned against your car.
"You know you're ruining my carefully crafted reputation as the greatest evil in the world?"
"I'm not too concerned about this… how about you?"
His only response was a light chuckle before he kissed you with all his love for you. You smiled, cupping his cheeks and pulling him as close to you as possible. You both loved those moments of peace between the two of you. No witches, vampires, or werewolves wanting your death. Just the two of you in each other's arms, too busy with each other to care about anything else.
"Let's go home, love. Before that bunch of Salvatores come down here with white oak stakes." he hummed tenderly, stroking your cheek with his thumb.
He could stare at your beautiful face for hours. Even if it meant dealing with the people who wanted to steal his goddess first. It was worth every effort to hold you in his arms again.
"I don't think we're on the top criminals list anymore. Stefan was recently joking that you had retired. And before you get a seizure in the middle of town, let me say that I didn't talk to him. Hope is friends with Delena's daughter. She might have overheard something."
"The gods must have punished me in some way for my many antics, so they sent me a wife to teach my daughter how to get on my nerves without even trying."
"Oh sweetheart. I love you too." you laughed as you both got into the car to go home.
Na na na na na na na, na na na na na na na Oh yeah Na na na na na na na, na na na na na na na Alright Na na na na na na na, na na na na na na na She belongs to me
You were sitting in a rocking chair, holding your newborn son in your arms. The baby finally fell asleep peacefully, and you were afraid to make any move after hours of putting him to sleep. It looks like you'll have to sleep in this chair tonight.
"Rescue you, love?" Klaus' soft whisper tore your gaze from Henric Nikolas Mikaelson.
"I'd love to, but I'm afraid he'll wake up the moment he leaves my arms." Klaus slowly walked over to you, kneeling in front of you and gazing tenderly at the baby you held. "I guess you're going to have to come to terms with the fact that you're going to have to share me with someone else." the man rolled his eyes at the comment about his jealousy. He shifted his gaze to you and gently grabbed your hand, being careful not to let any sudden movement wake his son.
"I'll live with it as long as our kids are the only ones taking you from me."
"You are a very gracious, all-powerful hybrid." he chuckled, making a tired but genuine smile appear on your face. "Save yourself while you still can. I don't think I'm going back to bed tonight." you murmured, looking at the little usurper in your arms.
"Nonsense, you are going with me.." he lifted you from your chair with your soft, startled squeal and held you in his arms, careful not to wake your son. He carried you to the bed, making sure you were comfortable. He lay on his side, propping his head up with his hand, and stared at the two of you, spellbound. "You can sleep. I'll keep an eye on you two."
"Remember that your siblings and dad are coming tomorrow. Kol and Davina pick up Hope. And please, for God's sake, don't argue with Kol again about him being Henric's godfather, because we both know you don't want anyone else to take his place."
"Well, we always have Marcel and, God forbid, Finn. Besides, what kind of big brother would I be if I didn't torment him every chance I got?" you rolled your eyes, pressing your son to your chest, and used your free hand to grab your husband's hand.
"I just hope you didn't teach our daughter that."
"I'd be surprised if she didn't pick up on our habits herself." he murmured, kissing your hand and watching you fall into a peaceful sleep while holding your son and his hand. Your rings shone in the moonlight on your joined hands.
Yes... you were definitely belongs only to him.

Klaus had never encountered a girl more enchanting than the Lady Y/N. He still dreamt of her, even after all these years. The traces of lavender and vanilla in the tresses of her hair. Her glowing smile accompanied by the dimple in her right cheek. Her bright eyes and how he swore they held the stars in them. She was magnificence personified. And that haunted him.
Klaus was laid on the field with Y/N's head on his chest. His fingers ran through her hair as she drew light patterns on him with her fingertips. "If only we could remain like this forever," Y/N spoke. She thought of returning to the castle, seeing the faces of the family that had resented her since she'd killed her mother in childbirth. She thought of how unloved and unappreciated she'd felt her entire life. And then she thought about the man next to her, and how he had been the one to see everything they hadn't. "I know, my love. But I promise you, one day, we will marry. And we will have all the time in the world to adore each other."
He was also haunted by the reminder that he'd lost her. How she'd told him that she loved him and that she'd spend her whole life running with him if it meant that they could be together forever. But Klaus refused, knowing Mikael would destroy her the same way he had destroyed Klaus. And she was too precious to him to ever put in harm's way. So he let her go. He let her go just as he'd been forced to let go of everything his heart had ever desired, all in the name of Mikael.
"Niklaus, please. Make me like you. Strong, powerful. That way you won't have to worry about my safety as you do now. We can run from Mikael together. I cannot bear the thought of him hurting you, or losing you forever. I refuse," she pleaded, her hands cupping his jaw as she looked into the blue orbs of the only man she'd ever loved. Klaus grabbed her wrists gently, "No. You are perfect as you are. And I will only ruin you. So that is why you must remain here where you are safe." He stared into her eyes one last time ensuring the compulsion took, before parting from her for the last time.
Klaus thought back to that night, as he always did. He and his siblings were planning to leave France. He'd been on his way to bid farewell to the woman he loved. The woman he'd been waiting for. The woman he would have to release from the captivity that was his adoration. But all of those thoughts were put on hold as his gaze landed on the floor at the bottom of the steps, where Y/N was lying unconscious with a large gash on her forehead. And he knew that parting from her would be in her best interest, no matter how much it tore him apart inside.
"Y/N! No, no, no!" Klaus exclaimed as he ran to his beloved. He bit into his wrist and pressed it against her lips, praying to whatever god there was out there to allow his blood to save her. He sighed with relief as Y/N slowly regained consciousness, her fingers wrapping around Klaus' wrist as he held her in his arms. When she released his wrist from her lips, she turned to look at him. "What happened to you, my love?" Klaus questioned. "I was in search of you. Rebekah spoke to me of your plans to flee. I could not let you leave, not without me. We belong together, Niklaus. Don't you see?"
Klaus shook off his feelings of regret as he heard someone enter the courtyard. He left his bedroom, walking over to the main area of the compound. He stopped in his tracks as his eyes found her, standing right there in front of him with her arms crossed and an unbothered look on her face. He thought for sure that his paranoia had turned into full-blown hallucinations. It couldn't really be her, could it? A thousand years after he had chosen not to turn her, chosen to set her free from the curse of loving a Mikaelson. "Y/N?"
"I wasn't going to show up here, but Lucien oh-so-graciously reminded me that you aren't too fond of surprises," she spoke, taking a swig of the bourbon she'd poured herself. Klaus took a few steps toward her, choosing not to get too close. "How are you alive?" He questioned. "Mikael came looking for you and your family the night you fled France. Someone took it upon themselves to reveal to him that you and I were...connected. He found me and he drove his sword through my heart when he realized I had no intention of giving up your whereabouts. And thanks to the powers of vampire blood, here I am."
Klaus should have known that Mikael would always find a way to hurt him and his loved ones, no matter what lengths Klaus had gone through to protect them. It was something that never would have changed, had Klaus not defeated him. "I didn't want this for you, Y/N. I didn't," Klaus told her, looking into those same eyes he'd been dreaming about for a millennium. They still held those stars, held the same fire in them. The fire he feared he would have burnt out if he'd stayed with her. "Stop. I didn't come here for this. I only came to make my presence in 'your city' known. That's all," she said, setting her glass down as she began to walk out of the compound.
Klaus watched Y/N as she began to walk away. He watched as he was losing her again, and he knew he had to at least try to stop it. He couldn't let her go again, not after all the years of regret and pain he felt over leaving her. So, he flashed in front of her causing her to jump slightly as she stopped in her tracks. "Get out of my way, Klaus," Y/N said, her tone meaning business. "No. I'm not going to allow myself to lose you again, not when I have the opportunity to stop it." Y/N rolled her eyes, "I'm only here for the prophecy. Once this is all over I'm leaving, and I'll never have to see you again."
Okay. Not gonna lie, that stung. But he understood why she was acting the way she was. After all, he had set the course. But that didn't mean he was done trying. He would never give up on Y/N. "I love you, Y/N," Klaus spoke, looking straight into her eyes. "Don't. You don't get to just tell me you love me after a thousand years like it's nothing," she argued. Klaus raised his hands carefully to rest on her shoulders, "Can you honestly say that you feel nothing for me? Nothing at all?" He looked into those eyes again, and he knew she felt it too. That flame between them was still burning so brightly.
Y/N stared back at Klaus, the man she'd loved with everything in her. And then she came to her senses, breaking their shared gaze and removing herself from his grasp. "A millennium has passed and yet you've been in my heart every single day. Every. Damn. Day. But do you know what else is in my heart, Klaus? The hurt and the pain you caused me when you left me with the family who despised me just for being born. All I had was you, and you chose to leave me. I promised you I would stand by you and you promised me an eternity alone," Y/N explained.
"Because I was an idiot! I let the woman I thought could only ever exist in my dreams slip through my fingers due to my own fear and paranoia!" Klaus exclaimed. "Y/N, I love you. I have loved you since the first day I saw you, and I have loved you every day since then. And if you give me another chance, I swear to you that I will make you happy. I will spend the rest of my immortal life loving you and protecting you. I will give you the life you've always dreamt of, and I will not cause you another moment of pain. Please, Y/N. Don't leave me. Don't leave me here without you, again, because my heart won't bear it."
Y/N's instincts were screaming at her now, 'Run. Run fast. Don't let him suck you into his world again, just to be spat out when you're an inconvenience to him.' But when she looked into the eyes of the man she'd known so well, she knew. She knew he was true. His heart was true. And so was she. So was hers. And so she kissed him with everything in her. Pulling away, breathless, she looked up at him.
"Okay."

62 - To Getting Rebekah Back

Dragging Aurora's limp body into a room of the Mikealson's compound I threw her against the wall while we waited for her to come back. Flipping my hair out of my face I scoffed leaning against the wall. "I don't see why we can't just do a mind dive on her like Klaus did with me when I was still a witch."
Freya began burning some sage in a circle in the middle of the room. "I'm shocked you're thinking about the safer option. A few minutes ago you wanted to kill her."
"Oh please. She's annoying me enough where I still want to kill her." Snapping my gaze downward to her slumping my shoulders. "But she's the only one who knows where Bex is."
She nodded her head seeing that she was waking up. "Took you long enough."
"Oh, are we to play a fun game?" Aurora asked, lifting her head up.
Freya burned some more sage around her. "Actually, yes, and now that my spell has made it so that no one can hear what happens…"
"Cause in case you missed it we're gonna have a lot of fun." Bending my knees I grabbed her chin in my nails flashing my fangs.
Aurora smiled up at me. "Raelyn, how I wish I could adore your flair. I can't forget the fact that you gave him what I couldn't."
"Ohh well I can rub it in your face after you tell us where Bex is." I wined releasing her chin from my hand.
Aurora made a nose looking at Freya now. "Oh, ok, so then what, pray tell, are we doing here?"
"I think I'll leave my sister in law to tell you what's next." She sat the sage down when I rose to my feet.
Crossing my arms over my chest I smirked wickedly at the vampire girl. "You're gonna tell us where to find Rebekah, or we're going to kill you."
Aurora made a disappointing face. "Oh. Hmm."
Raising my hand up I snapped my fingers drawing her up to me holding her by her throat. "Where's my sister in law?"
"Not telling." She snapped.
"Ah sha lana!" I responded where she grabbed her head falling on the ground.
"Still…not…telling." She groaned.
Turning on my heels I launched one hand forward, breaking her legs together at once. "Tenebris lapsus!"
Aurora fell on the ground but she began laughing where Freya stepped up, beginning spells of her own on her. She launched her around the room like a rag doll for hours. Until she landed against the dresser panting. "Uh!...Is that the best you've got?"
"Until I can kill you yes!" Baring my teeth together in frustration I clutched my hands into fists causing some fire in one hand. "Incendia! I'm gonna ask you again... where is Rebekah?"
She smirked, rising to her feet before Freya snapped her fingers causing her entire body to feel pain. "You're quite strong for an infant."
Vamping up to her I punched her across the face. Aurora ran towards me where we went back and forth hitting one another until I slammed her against the wall. “Ah! Uh... Uh... Uh! Ah! Uh! Uh! Ah! Agh! Oh! Rrgh! Ha! Ah! Uh! Huh!”
Freya clutched her hand forward causing the red head to hold her head yelling in pain for a few minutes. “Whoo! Ha ha ha! That actually hurt. Ha ha! Oh, I haven't felt pain since the 1700s... kind of tickles... and for that, I'm gonna make you suffer.”
“No you’re not actually.” I grabbed her by her shoulders siphoning from her.
She winced sharply. “Huh! Agh!”
"How about a werewolf bite, you psychotic, little bitch? Cause I know someone who doesn't have a relationship with you. Motus !" Growling in her ear I released her into the wall.
Aurora smirked where I wanted to snap her neck right then. “By all means if only I can laugh in your face when Nik heals me.”
Freya glanced at my direction growling through her labored breath. “Maybe Klaus would heal you, but I doubt he would heal your brother. Why don't you have your werewolf Hayley bite him instead?”
I smiled at the red head. “Hmm, that’s not a bad thought.”
Aurora threatened, crossing her arms over her chest proudly. “No one should dare harm my brother... Seeing as you're all going to need him if you want your precious Rebekah back.”
Our group was back in the dining room with Lucien clicking his tongue. “Longitude and latitude. Lovely.”
Tristan clinked his galls with his sister. “Well, despite our differences, I believe great strides were made today.”
Aurora smiled. “Hmm.”
Elijah made a threat sitting back down at the table. “Tristan, I can't murder you this very moment, but I could just as easily tear those eyeballs from your skull and feed them to your sister.”
Klaus warns him with me leaning against the armrest of his king chair. “Elijah, these are our guests.”
Aurora said back. “ Nik, it's so sweet of you to defend us.”
“Don’t get too comfortable with the idea!” I warned her by crossing my arms over my chest.
“You know, I doubted my brother's wisdom in bringing us all together today, but he was right. We must confront the harsh realities we all face and make difficult choices... To ensure our collective survival... And I have every confidence that my choice... Will be the right one.” Klaus got to his feet moving behind Tristian suddenly snapping his neck.
Aurora gasps at what he had done when he threatened her sternly. "Were you anyone else, the servants would already be mopping your blood from the floor. If you do not bring my sister home, Tristan will die slowly and in tremendous pain."
Aurora croaked through tears. “You betray me after all your promises of love.”
Nik raised his voice at her getting in her face threatening her to bring her home. “I meant to keep those promises! It was you who shattered them when you took Rebekah! Now I have your brother, a sibling for a sibling. I want Rebekah back.”
Aurora got in his face vamping away. “You will regret this. Huh!”
Freya asked him with me standing by her hip. “After everything today, you just let her go?”
Elijah reassured her. “Aurora should be easy enough to control. We have Tristan now.”
Klaus shifted closer to his vampire flashing his golden wolf eyes into his. “Lucien... You will take me to Camille, and you will surrender the medallion, or you will meet an end so cruel, the devil will weep.”
Stomping around the knocked out vampire I didn't bother wasting time vamping to his place. The elevator door opened quickly where I noticed that Cami was waiting outside holding a daylight ring. “Cami, we have to go now.”
“I took that vampire guy's daylight ring. He can’t get out until dark.” She told me to hold it up.
Taking her hand in I rushed us back to the elevator tapping my foot nervously until the door opened again and I gasped under my breath. "Aurora, shit!"
"Hello again, Raelyn." She smiled wickedly. "You must be Cami."
Cami's heartbeat began to race in our vampire ears. "Raelyn, what do we do?"
"Don't worry. I can take her!" I revealed my fangs and the veins under my fangs to her.
Aurora backed us into a corner when she revealed something from behind her back. In her hands was a stake and a vial of some liquid that I could only assume must be werewolves venom or something. "Oh on the contrary dear girl. You see she won't be getting the upper hand against me this time."
"What the hell are you going to do to me?" I growled shielding Cami with my body. "Leave Cami out of this."
The red head shook her head. "Sorry not an option. You see, I need her for my plan."
"Raelyn - uh!" Cami grunted when Aurora shoved a needle in her body to the floor.
I attempted to vamp at her but she pressed the tip of the stake over my heart. "Ah ah not so fast, darling. You might be a witch but I can still stake you and kill you with this."
"You really are a bitch. Why are you doing this?" I bared my teeth.
She leans forward. "Cause I won't let you keep my lover from me. Now either you come with me willingly or I kill Cami right now."
"Why you little -" I cut myself off when she moved the stake over her human heart in a taunting way. "Huh…fine."
Aurora grinned, dragging the blonde human towards the doorway. "Excellent."
"Dic mihi, hva du vet…" I mumbled praying that she didn't hear me do my mind spell before I followed her through the elevator. "Nik, please find us before Aurora kills me or Cami. We need you."

A Court of Shadows and Sunshine — Part Eleven
Azriel x Aurora (OC)
Summary: It’s the Winter Solstice and Aurora is enjoying the Night Court traditions with her family. We also have a rare Vanserra appearance.
Wordcount: 1.6K
Warnings: the fluffiest of fluff, slight smut (foreplay only, mostly petting, no actual penetration on page)
Part Ten
✧・゚: *✧・゚:*✧・゚: *✧・゚:*✧・゚: *✧・゚:*✧・゚: *✧・゚:*✧・
Aurora
Solstice was upon you before you knew it - the passing of time had grown as hazy as the morning mist.
Your days were full of training, with evenings spent loving up to your mate; getting cozy under blankets by the fire, tangled in sheets with strong hands holding you tightly.
You barely stopped for long enough to notice the changing of the seasons and the growing chill in the air.
————
“Do they truly do this every year?” you ask.
It’s the morning of Winter Solstice, and you find yourself among your family, relaxing in front of the glowing fire.
“Since they were boys,” Mor shakes her head, smiling fondly, “I swear they never grew up.”
You smile to yourself at the image of your mate and his brothers playing in the snow. You wonder how dangerous a snowball would be when wielded by an Illyrian warrior.
You’re pulled from your daydream by a tall figure standing in the doorway.
The male steps forward into the living room, the warm glow of the fire seems to radiate from his flowing red hair. The brutal scar stretching from above his brow down to his cheek was a stark contrast to the ethereal beauty of his face.
The male’s eyes drew you in - one of russet brown, and the other wholly gold and whirring as he casts it around the room.
He was striking, but there was something familiar about him. Not in the same way your soul recognised your mate before you felt the pull of the bond. No, this was like seeing a childhood friend all grown up.
Feyre stands, pulling the male into a hug. “Lucien, I’m so happy you could join us for Solstice.” She pulls back, holding Lucien’s shoulders as her eyes scan his face and she turns towards you with a warm smile. “I don’t believe you two have met. Lucien, this is Aurora, our latest Valkyrie recruit,” Feyre says with a wink at you.
He bows gracefully and extends his hand to you. “It’s lovely to meet you, Aurora.”
You curtsy in response, taking his outstretched hand. “Pleased to meet you too, Lucien.”
Your eyes flick towards Feyre and Mor who are grinning at you wildly, they appear to be discussing something mind-to-mind.
Lucien arches a brow quizzically towards your High Lady. “Why are you acting strange Feyre? Do you have more cauldron-shattering news? Should I sit down?”
Feyre’s smile drops ever so slightly as she says, “Nothing at all, I just missed my friend.”
Lucien chuckles softly, “If you say so.”
Everyone settles in again, Nesta and Mor joining you on the larger couch. Lucien sits poised on the smaller lounge while Feyre fills everyone’s glasses.
Feyre pauses her toast as Elain enters the room with hesitant steps. Lucien’s eyes fall on her instantly and you can’t glean what his expression means - whether it’s joy or sorrow. You swear you hear him whisper her name.
Elain smiles softly and takes a seat next to Lucien before pouring herself a glass. “What are we toasting to?” she asks.
“To family,” Feyre answers, raising her glass.
You send a wave of love down the bond as you raise your own glass.
————
Cassian and Rhys look very pleased when they return from the cabin. Azriel trails behind them, looking a bit flat but his face noticeably lifts when he locks eyes on you.
He beelines to the empty space next to you on the lounge, wrapping his strong arms around you and pulling you into his lap. His head falls to rest on top of yours. Your hands lay on his and you idly draw small circles into his skin.
“I missed you today,” Azriel murmurs into your hair.
“Me too,” you sigh, settling into his warm embrace.
Feyre coos softly at your public display of affection, “You two are so cute.”
You barely notice Lucien’s brows furrow briefly before straightening out again as he watches you and Azriel.
“Who won?” Nesta asks.
Azriel lifts his head off of yours to respond gruffly, “Rhys.”
“Someone was a bit distracted this year,” Cassian smirks.
“A bit? That was the most pathetic fighting display I've seen from you, Az. It’s not even fair that I won.” Rhys shakes his head in mock disapproval, but his smile is broad as he looks over at the pair of you. Your High Lord gives you a wink as your eyes meet.
You turn towards your mate, giving him a guilty look. Your eyes asking a silent question, whether it was your fault he was so distracted.
Azriel sends pure adoration down the bond as his frown shifts into a grin. “I’ve decided I’m more of a lover than a fighter.” You squeal as he presses many sloppy kisses all over your cheek and the side of your neck.
“Ugh, get a room,” Mor groans.
“We have one,” you say, smiling as you lean further into your mate's loving touch.
Lucien sighs and runs a hand through his long locks, “So much changes so quickly around here.”
————
As everyone grew weary and the day’s celebrations drew to an end, you winnowed back to your apartment with Azriel for the final festivity. You had agreed earlier to give your presents to each other in private, wanting to keep the special moment for yourselves.
You look up at Azriel contentedly, “Today was amazing. Thank you for letting me be a part of it.”
“There’s no one else I’d rather share it all with,” he says, kissing you on the top of your head.
You stand still in your silent embrace, enjoying the peace that always comes when you’re together.
Azriel gives you his gift first. You pull firmly on the gold ribbon, untying the bow around the present before unsheathing it from the paper.
It’s a book, brand new with golden lettering on the front.
Your eyes scan the title, the book is about the history of yoga.
“This is from the Mortal Lands. How did you get this?” you ask, looking up at your mate with wonder.
“I have connections,” he winks at you.
Your heart skips a beat as you flip through the pages, eyes breezing over the chapter titles. “This is perfect, thank you so much. I really love it.”
You give Azriel a soft kiss before reaching for his present. You gingerly hand over the small box, fidgeting with your now free hands as you watch him open it.
He carefully lifts the lid, looking at your gift before meeting your nervous gaze with a warm smile. “I take it there’s a story to this?” he asks.
“That was my father’s wedding band. You don’t have to wear it like that if you don’t want to, but I wanted you to have it.”
Azriel arches a brow, the ghost of a smirk on his lips. “You want to marry me?”
“Of course I do. And I will accept the bond too, but I’d like to have a traditional mating ceremony, surrounded by our family.”
Azriel breaks into the biggest smile you’ve ever seen on his handsome face as he picks you up and spins you around. You both laugh as he pulls you closer, your legs wrapping around his waist as he kisses you so deeply and full of love that you feel it all the way to your toes.
He holds you tight in his arms and drops his forehead to yours. “You know, typically the male proposes to the female.”
“My love, there is nothing typical about us.”
You lean forward and kiss him. Your lips move with purpose, claiming his mouth, his body.
Azriel kisses you back with just as much passion, desire roaring down the bond and setting your body ablaze.
Your legs tighten around Azriel’s waist as his tongue slips past the seam of your mouth. You press even closer, as if you could become one being, one soul.
You feel the soft mattress beneath your back as Azriel lowers you to the bed. His hands cage you in, holding the bulk of his weight above you. Your legs hold firm as he grinds into you with his hips.
Azriel trails fervent kisses along your jaw, sucking the spot beneath your ear. A soft moan escapes your lips as he sucks harder, the trail of love bites left behind marking you as his.
“There is nothing I want more than to be yours,” Azriel whispers against your flesh. “I want to let the world know. I’ll scream it from the House of Wind, all the the way to Spring and beyond. To marry you, would make me the luckiest male in the world.”
You cup Azriel’s face as you take in his hazel eyes. “You are mine, just as much as I am yours.”
You kiss him again, but slower this time.
You take your time to memorise every inch of his mouth, the way his muscled back flexes under your touch, the growing heat between your legs.
Azriel lifts himself up as you remove the layers of fabric between you, craving as much skin-on-skin as possible.
He settles back against you, arousal pooling in your center as your bodies mould together.
Azriel drags his length against you and your eyes flutter closed, every cell in your body aching for him.
Azriel continues with the unhurried pace, indulging in every second.
There was no rushing. Every stroke was calculated, intentional; with the goal of wringing as much pleasure from your bodies as possible.
No, there was no need to race to the end; not when you had forever.

A/N: AHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!! I wanna cryyyy! This is the *final part* before the epilogue.
It’s been quite an adventure writing this, and I feel like I’m happy enough to end the story here. There may be opportunities to reprise these characters in the future, but they will be stand-alone bonus chapters.
From the bottom of my heart, thank you to all who have followed along with this fic. I never expected anyone to read my writing. It started as a silly idea I had while daydreaming at the gym and turned into a greater exploration of my trauma. I’m so grateful for the opportunity to share this journey with you all, and for the friends I’ve made along the way.
All my love, Shelbs ♡

Having a crush on Lucien but all he talks about is Aurora who doesn't want him. You get into an argument with him and tell him how you feel about him without thinking .
You're So Oblivious | Lucien Castle x Reader
my masterlist ↪M A S T E R L I S T
Tumblr media
Aurora this, Aurora that. 1000 years and all he can think about is Aurora De Martel. We haven't even seen the De Martel family since we broke free from Elijah's stupid compulsion.
I mean 1000 years is a long time to have a crush on someone, hell I haven't even liked Lucien that long. He was a weasel when I met him, but now he's had time to grow and learn that the jester life wasn't for him.
"Y/n darling, how's the plan?" Lucien asks me from his bedroom, his plan was to find Aurora, out of all things to find he had to find her.
No doubt she was with her imbecile brother.
"I've told you, Lucien, she's with her brother." I mumble look back from the TV "Well we must find Aurora." he says walking out from his room "we must find aurora." I mock him in a whiny tone.
"stop doing that." he points to me "you could find the last white oak to stab elijah or rebekah but all you care about is finding a woman that one is betrothed to your sire, and two never even noticed you in the slightest." I mock him.
I do admit, my crush on Lucien was based a bit on jealousy of his infatuation with Aurora but I had other reasons too, he was a sweetheart when he wanted to be.
"I don't understand why you don't like Aurora." he says in his annoying british voice "and I don't understand why you do, it's been a thousand years. You'd think you'd find someone else to find the least bit attractive that isnt a Mikaelson or Aurora." I mumble standing up from the sofa.
"Y/n I can kill you easily, watch your tongue." he points to me cautiously "so you say, yet I still stand her Lucien. She doesn't love you." I say agitated "you're in a modd." he says "martini?" he asks walking towards his bar.
"I want you to listen to me loud and clear Lucien." I yell "She doesn't love you, she'd kill you if she pleased but shes using you, she doesn't truly love you." I continue "what like you do?" he scoffs "YES I DO" I yell.
"But after a long time you can't get your head out of Aurora's asshole." I spit at him before barging out of the door "I'll find her and kill her myself" I yell pressing the elevator button aggressively.
"You what?" Lucien said and I spin around "What do you have another problem, Lucien?" I ask him in a faux polite tone "You do realise what just came out of your mouth right?" he words echoed in my mind.
"I thought I said that in my mind." I clear my throat, now pressing the elevator button even more hoping the doors open before the words hit him just as much as they hit me.
His jaw drops, still not saying anything "the elevator doesn't work for the next hour." Lucien cleared his throat "you know what maybe Aurora does love you." I shrug, hating the words that came out of my mouth.
"It was just in the moment." I shrug "admit it again and i won't save her." he says taking a step closer to me and I shake my head "say it" he says.
"no, i didn't say anything." I shrug it off shoving past him .
"go save her for all i care, i told you my thoughts." I scoff going into my room.
"your thoughts, you mean your feelings y/n? how long has this been going on for?" he asks leaning against my doorframe as I fall back onto my bed.
"10 years" i whisper to myself "speak up" he says eve though he heard it.
"10 years fuck off." I throw a pillow at him and he laughs "quite hard to believe given you've never been nice to me." tossing the pillow back "that's why i stuck by your side when your own sire wanted you dead." i scoff to him nodding.
"interesting" he hums "of course it is" i roll my eyes.

If you could have a poly/ot3 route with any two LIs (so the MC dates both of them and they date each other) which ones would you pick? 😁
i think i'd have to go with Alex x MC x Medusa for my top OT3 that i'd want! i already think about it a lot, it would just be so fantastic <333
but i'd also really REALLY enjoy:
Abel x MMC x Lucas Lucien x MC x Roman Vivienne x MC x Zoe Andi x MC x Lorelei Andi x MC x Juliette Antonio x MC x Diego (it would be so fucking funny) Alain x MC x Helena (but i dont want helena and alain dating each other tho) Mackenzie x MC x Annabelle who i know technically isn't an LI but 🥺🥺🥺🥺🥺 Aurora x Astoria MC x Medusa (this is a guilty pleasure ship tbh) Arin x FMC x Nora Jessa x Alien MC x Nav (but again i dont want Jessa and Nav dating each other) JD x MC x Razi (again. hilarious potential.) Jett x MC x Remy Renzei x MC x Zeke Cal x MC x Darius (AGAIN. WOULD BE VERY FUNNY.) Alex x MC x Hydra Alex x MC x Astraeus
im gonna stop before i just list every possible ot3 combo one could imagine :^) thanks for asking though, i really like indulging in my ot3s :)

@ofwickedminds continued from here: (x)
“ Long enough. ” He says firmly, standing with both of his hands behind his back. He takes a look around at his work - all the bodies laying on the floor - before taking a few steps closer to her. He thinks he’s doing a good job with hiding his disappointment and hurt – but his eyes, they probably gave him away. “ So, this was your plan all along? ” Had he been a few seconds late, things could've ended badly for her.
"Actually, I was rather expecting Tristan, the Strix, or Lucien to ride in on their white horses to save the day." And Aurora imagined still that the Strix or Lucien lurked outside, anxiously watching the scene between Aurora and Klaus as it unfolded, trying to see if their intercession was still needed. It would not be. Aurora liked to think that she could have done just fine against the group of werewolves without Klaus, but even still, she could certainly keep one hybrid from harming, especially one that still cared for her if the violence he had just inflicted was any indication. "Was that all about ensuring my safety, or having you been holding that in for some time now? I do not mind if you wish to blame their deaths on me to preserve this fantasy you've crafted for Elijah and the others, but I will know the truth, if only for myself."

Continued from (x) "I was never keen on enduring victimhood but you truly lower it into parody." Tristan responded unfazed. "You were a blameless, innocent victim of the terror I inflicted upon you. Is that the tale we tell ourselves? You suffered at my hand just like your father was tormented by mine before? That is the origin of just how amusingly special you felt, was it not? I could never comprehend why. In one form or another, my father extended his cruelty to everyone he ever met." He spared him a sidelong glance. "You still dare to speak to me of fondness for my sister. You find me monstrous, Lucien? Do you find me cold and inhumane? I promise you that if my mortal days had seen the devil at a crossroad, I would have laid down my own life without hesitation before letting it reach Aurora. So, please. Do tell me about how you did absolutely nothing or how much you cared for Aurora when you met a menagerie of ravenous demons and immediately, joyfully invited them inside her home. For once, I'm eager to hear you, brother of mine. Did you simply value your miserable survival over her life or was it more sinister than that? Was her wellbeing a calculated bet? A faint preference you were willing to risk while secretly crossing your fingers, hoping for the encounter to end in carnage for the rest of those you despised?" A latent darkness insinuated its depth. "I hold the power to give rise to reigns and topple empires. My reach, better yet my yearning, doesn't extend so far as to stop Aurora from doing whatever she desires to do except when it comes to matters concerning her safety. Surely you suspect already that she sees you as much or as little as she wishes. But you are entirely right in one and only respect: You will never be good enough. Perhaps it is time you realize it isn't what but who you are that proves fundamentally insufficient. You are not my creature, Lucien. Nor Klaus's spawn. Not any more that I'm the Count's son or Elijah's result. We forge ourselves. And what you have always chosen to become with your circumstances is a petty, envious and disloyal snake." In the end Tristan looked away. "I may not know much about regret. But illusion or not...The memory of caring about you still sickens me." @kingmakercastle

My (and your) tears ricochet
Pairing: Klaus Mikaelson x reader Summary: You and Klaus have a difficult relationship. For 500 years, you bond, break up, and get back together, being both your worst nightmares and your longed-for dreams. But after Lucien bites you and you die in Klaus' arms, the true feelings of your "lover" come out. And you're as delighted as devastated. Warning(s): angst, de@th, mourn, mentions of depression/mental breakdown, vampire violence, a bit of comfort at the end Word count: 5k+ Inspired by: "My tears ricochet" - Taylor Swift
Tumblr media
We gather here, we line up, weepin' in a sunlit room
I never thought this would be my end. Killed by one of Klaus' many enemies because I rushed to save the love of my life. An Y/N from 200 years ago would have laughed in my face for my own stupidity.
To die for Klaus Mikaelson - the enemy of my family, the bane of my existence, and the only one I ever truly desired.
It would have been as improbable to my past self as the entire Mikaelson family mourning me with my sister Katherine by their side.
Yet I was here. In the spirit world, watching the original vampires and Kath line up in front of my coffin, they silently watched the sunlight illuminate my gray, lifeless face.
Maybe Klaus was supposed to be my undoing after all.
At least Katerina put me in a nice dress.
Even on my worst day, did I deserve, babe All the hell you gave me?
Involuntarily, I began to reminisce about the events leading up to my unexpected death, as I was looking at Klaus' stone, emotionless face.
"What? I betrayed you?! I should've seen that coming. After everything I do and sacrifice for you, you still can't trust me, can you? I'll never be your precious Camille."
"Don't bring her to this! I'll ask you just once more and for your own good, love, tell me the truth. Did you tell Aurora about her?!"
"No Klaus. I didn't tell your psychopathic ex that you were fucking your therapist. You have to find someone else to blame for her death."
"I didn't fuck with her."
"And I don't care."
I turned away from him to leave his studio, but the man grabbed my arm in a strong, aching grip, effectively stopping me. I turned to meet his furious gaze again.
"We're not finished."
"YES, WE ARE! I'm so done with being a toy you can throw out and take back whenever you want! I deserve something more than a hybrid who has an existential problem with himself and thousands of enemies on his back. I'm done with you and whatever is between us. You're not worthy of my time, and I'm so dumb to believe that you can feel something more than anger or a desire for power. Mikael was right about you. You're just a scared boy who is pushing everyone away from you because you're too afraid of being betrayed."
I burst out, fed up with his sick attitude. From the moment I arrived at his call, he treated me with fucking hostility and distance. After everything we've been through together, I didn't deserve to be treated like a traitor.
At least that's what I told myself to keep from falling apart, seeing the complete lack of love for me in his captivating eyes, which I loved as much as the day we first met.
"Calm down. I've killed people for lesser slander. You're lucky you're still breathing, love." he whispered, placing his hand on my neck and squeezing it lightly to remind me that he could end my life at any moment. Good thing I was never afraid of him.
"And you're lucky to still have someone by your side after hurting your whole family again and again. This killing of everyone out of fear that someone would dare lay hand on you is pathetic. And as you can see, it doesn't quite work well." I snarled, yanking my arm out of his grip and walking away from the even angrier man than before.
After all, the one that wins will be the one that hits the hardest. This was always our guiding principle whenever we argued and broke up for a couple of decades.
'Cause I loved you, I swear I loved you 'Til my dying day
"Are you leaving so soon, sister? You just came." Katherine asked as I ran down the stairs towards the exit of the mansion.
"Well, apparently my presence is not needed here. In the house of the great Klaus Mikaelson, there is no place for vile traitors and untrustworthy whores."
"You can not fool me! I know what you really think and feel. And I sympathize with you with all my heart. You're making the right choice, little sister. He is not worthy of your love."
"I didn't ask for your opinion." I growled, unable to bear what she was saying and knowing that it was true.
"You still love him... after everything he has done, after he pretended to be with this bartander and broke your heart..."
"Once again. I didn't ask about your opinion, Katerina." I interrupted her to hurry out of the house. If I had known then that this would be one of our last conversations…
And you're the hero flying around, saving face
"What the hell do you think you're doing?! Lucien is running around trying to get to my loved ones at all costs, and you're taking bloody walks around New Orleans?!" Klaus was yelling at me after he pushed me against the wall of one of the alleys.
"You just answered yourself. Lucien is after your loved ones, and I am not one of them."
"Stupid woman, can't you see how much you mean to me?!"
"You've shown me this for the last fucking weeks by flirting with Aurora and playing Camille's damn boyfriend!"
"I did it to protect you!"
"Not telling me anything, keeping me like a prisoner in your house, and treating me worse than an enemy - this is what you call a fucking protection?!"
"How else was I supposed to keep you from participating in a war that wasn't yours and keep you safe at the same time?!"
"It would be too easy to let me know your plans, wouldn't it?"
"Can't you understand that I can't let anything happen to you?! That losing you too will be the final nail in my coffin!"
Suddenly, a strange, disturbing feeling came over me.
"Klaus."
"No. Let me finally end this and tell what's should be told 500 houndreds bloody years ago." Completely unable to focus on Klaus' words, I glanced over to see what was going on behind him. Lucien pointed the pistol at him with a smirk. Whatever was loaded into the gun, it couldn't end well. "Y/N, I love…"
The shot drowned out what he wanted to say. In an instant, I switched places with him, taking a shot at myself. I gasped as I felt my cool blood begin to ooze from the newly formed wound. My gaze, however, stayed hard on Klaus' terrified eyes.
Lucien's venom.
"Y/N!" his scream managed to cut through my dazed body before I collapsed limply on top of him, sinking into the enticing, blissful darkness.
We gather stones, never knowing what they'll mean Some to throw, some to make a diamond ring
"I don't see a bit of sense in what we're doing." Klaus whined as we walked along the lakeshore. Every now and then I would stop to pick up a nicer pebble and put it in one of our pouches.
"Don't be grumpy, old man. Had you never done this when you were a child?"
"We had other activities. Hunting, learning to fight, mother being one of the more ambitious decided to teach us to read and write - looking at Elijah, one of her worst ideas. We had all kinds of holidays, but we never did something as stupid as collecting useless stones."
"My God, you're worse than Katerina. Shouldn't you, as an artist, see beauty even in something as simple as stone? Besides, what if we happen to come across a diamond thrown away by some rich aristocrat's angry mistress? I'm about to waste my chance at finding a ridiculously expensive gem just because you're particularly cranky today." I asked indignantly, pulling him closer to me and smirking as I waited for his response.
"Your overactive imagination worries me sometimes. Also, I'm capable of giving you your own diamond if you want." he replied, unconvinced, staring at me with feigned concern. Sparks of amusement shone in his mesmerizingly beautiful eyes.
"As far as I remember, my imagination didn't bother you last night. You actually complimented it a lot."
"I won't answer that, just because, apparently, I'm the only one in our humble company who cares about a little tact."
"Well… you weren't last night." I kissed him briefly and run away from him laughing.
"Come here, you little tempting, irritating thing!" he shouted, chasing after me with his own smirk.
He grabbed me, pulling my back to his chest. I started laughing even more as he started placing small kisses down my neck.
"I can give you every little diamond ring you want. Just say a word." he whispered in my ear, nuzzling my jaw with his nose.
You know I didn't want to have to haunt you But what a ghostly scene
Consciousness slowly began to return to my body. I felt like I was in a sea of verbena. Every little muscle burned with hellish pain.
I must have been in hell.
"Not yet, love. I won't let you get away from me that easily. You must fight." his voice instantly brought me back.
I struggled to open my eyes, hissing at the blinding sunlight. The man sitting by my bed rushed to the windows, covering them, before immediately returning to sit by my side. I felt a sudden pressure on my skull. I angrily pushed his hand away, severing the connection between us.
"Get out of my mind." I wheezed, wincing as I heard my hoarse voice. The hybrid, undaunted by my condition, moved closer to me and handed me a glass of blood from the bedside table.
"Make me, love. I dare you." he whispered as he watched me greedily drink the red liquid.
He helped me hold the glass in my hand, embracing it and stroking it tenderly with his thumb. Had it not been for the knowledge that I would die in a few hours, I might have found the whole scene romantic.
"You know that even if you throw me a thousand challenges, you won't keep me for long. I'm gonna die, Klaus. Like Finn and Cami."
"NO. I will not let you. I'll go to Lucien and snatch this damned cure from his throat."
"Klaus, I'm already dead. There is no need…" he cut me off, tangling his hand in my hair to pull me into a desperate, demanding, needy kiss.
I let the warmth of his lips touch me one last time, letting a soft moan escape my throat as the emotions I felt became too much for me to hide any longer. He grabbed my waist, pulling me to him so that I was sitting on his lap. We broke apart. I leaned my head against his forehead, staring into his tear-filled eyes.
"You can't leave me. Not like that."
"I guess I don't have much choice." I whispered in a trembling voice, stroking his cheek tenderly, trying to wipe the tears from his eyes. "Klaus? Earlier in this alley, before all this happened, You said you love me. I…" he didn't let me finish by pressing his lips against mine again.
"You can say you love me tomorrow. You won't die today, love." he kissed my forehead and left in such a hurry that I couldn't even try to talk him out of the stupid idea of chasing Lucien.
I could only hope he wouldn't do something stupid and share my fate.
You wear the same jewels that I gave you As you bury me
The funeral was not extraordinary or grand. By Mikaelson's standards, it was quite modest and therefore more personal. It was good to know they'd miss my presence, but I couldn't focus on anyone but Klaus.
He was strangely calm. Emotionless, expressionless. Like a dead sculpture. My concern for the vampire only increased when I saw the necklace (which I gave him for his 1,000th birthday) with the pendant of a wolf howling at the moon hanging proudly from his neck, gleaming in the sunlight. His blue eyes stared blankly at my coffin, which they were hiding in the crypt.
Somewhere in the distance, I could hear Katerina and Rebekah crying.
However, the one person I cared about and worried about ever since I left the world of the living spent the entire funeral in astonishing silence.
It was at that moment that I knew he wouldn't accept my departure so easily.
I smiled as I saw Elijah come over to comfort him afterward. My smile faded as the hybrid growled aggressively at him, shoved his brother away, and ran to a place only known to him.
It must have been harder for him than he dared show anyone.
"Please, let one of his siblings be able to get to him. Despite his best efforts to keep them at a distance."
And if I'm dead to you, why are you at the wake? Cursing my name, wishing I stayed Look at how my tears ricochet
If I thought the funeral was hard for Klaus, then the wake must be his true hell.
Most of the originals have recovered by now, sitting in their living room sipping drinks, recalling all the funny, sad, and crazy things that had to do with me.
I thought it would somehow ease his pain.
Katerina seemed a little cheerier as she talked about all the compromising situations that WERE SUPPOSED to go with me to the grave. But I couldn't really blame her. I would probably do the same in the reverse situation.
It was Kol who unwittingly unleashed the storm.
"Remember when Nik tried to propose to her in the 19th century, here in New Orleans?" my heart and the whole world around me stopped for a moment. Propose?
"What?! How?" my sister's surprised exclamation perfectly reflected my current state. I had no idea that idea could ever enter his head.
"He has had hundreds of attempts over the centuries, but at this time most of us thought he'd finally made it." a single tear escaped my eye as I lamented the future that would never happen. "I even spent all of my money from the safe in Chicago because Nik had planned to…"
The sound of shattering glass echoed through the room, silencing the original. Everyone's attention shifted to Klaus, who had shards of glass stuck in his hands. A trickle of blood began to form from his hand, staining the chair and the carpet beneath it.
"I have enough of this pathetic show." he snarled, brushing off the shards of glass as he walked away to his art studio. Rebekah and Elijah didn't give up so easily, catching up with him on the stairs.
"Is that how your life will look now? You'll growl at us every time we mention Y/…"
"DON'T EVEN DARE SAY HER NAME!" he burst out, running to his studio. Elijah gave his sister a knowing look and returned to the living room, letting her do her thing.
Rebekah and I followed the hybrid, finding him in the middle of the ruined room, weeping over one of my portraits that had miraculously survived the crash. The blonde kneeled, hugging her brother and combing his hair comfortingly.
"Oh, Nik. That pain will never go away if you don't accept…"
"I WILL NEVER ACCEPT THIS!" he wrenched himself free from her grip, wary of the painting. "And this damn witch knew it! She enchanted me the first time I saw her. She put a dark spell on me, so I never found any other woman even a little bit as attractive as her. She is my heart, my half soul, my happiness, my sadness, and my madness, and now… now she is gone. And will be my curse for the rest of my life, Rebekah. Nothing can change that, especially not passing time, because every second, every minute, every hour, and every day without her by my side is meaningless."
"But you two were apart before, and you never acted like that, Nik."
"It was easier to let her go knowing she was happy and safe rather than cold and dead in some bloody tomb."
"And what about Hope? Your daughter, remember? You must be strong for her."
"Maybe it would have been better if she had never known the wasted shell I became after SHE left."
The blast of air (and all that mess) was all he left behind. Rebekah hesitantly reached for my portrait, staring at it with tears in her eyes.
However, it may not be so easy to let me go for all of them.
And I can go anywhere I want Anywhere I want, just not home
"You just beat yourself up more. By the way, he himself too." Cami's voice came from behind me. I turned to face her, leaving the hybrid alone with my crypt for a moment.
"I thought it was healthy to grieve a little over someone's death."
"Yes, but what you two are doing is obsessive and bordering on pre-depressive. You must let him go. And he you. Holding on to him will get you nowhere. If you don't want peace yet, you might as well travel to other places. You can go anywhere you want."
"Anywhere I want, just not home." I muttered bitterly, looking at the hybrid sitting across from my grave and sipping a bottle of bourbon.
"I don't think I can do anything here. Just remember you have a choice, okay?"
"You're going to find peace?"
"Yes, and don't make me wait there alone for long. Watching them won't help you. I'm so sorry, Y/N." she gave me one last comforting, sad smile and turned to leave.
"Good luck, Camille!" I called after her and turned on my way, approaching Klaus again.
"For you too. I hope you'll find your peace." I heard before the blonde was gone for good.
"I already did." I murmured, grabbing Klaus' hand, enjoying the slim chance of being close to him. At the very least, I could fool myself into thinking I was still with him.
Because the truth was that I would never find my peace without him.
And you can aim for my heart, go for blood But you would still miss me in your bones
Klaus had slept for a week and stayed only in my bedroom, occasionally popping up to visit my grave. With a heavy heart, I laid down next to him on my bed, watching him sleep peacefully, hugging my pillow, and inhaling my scent left on it.
Involuntarily, I remembered my last hours in this bed.
"I will kill anyone you thought was your friend. I will tear out their throats and hearts one by one and torture them until they feel half as much pain as I will feel. I'll make this whole bloody world go up in flames, and it'll never rise from its fall, and neither will I if you leave me."
"Were you always so dramatic, or did it just happen in your old age?" I taunted, taking a sip of water to cover up my earlier sudden coughing fit from him. But I doubt I'll be able to explain the blood on the mirror if he looks in the bathroom when he returns.
"I'm not joking, love. If you die before I find a cure, I'll follow you straight to hell and drag you back with me. No one and nothing can take you from me."
"I'd find it romantic if you didn't presume that I'm the spawn of the devil. What if I'm an angel in disguise?"
"Then they did a fantastic job of camouflaging you. I have to go now, love. You have one task: Don't die. Can you do it?"
"I'll try. Nik, I lo..." he hung up before I could finish. "I love you, Nik." I whispered to myself, trying my hardest to control the sudden dizziness.
Klaus, whatever you're doing, please do it faster.
And I still talk to you (When I'm screaming at the sky) And when you can't sleep at night (You hear my stolen lullabies)
"I think you should go in the red one. This color has always suited you." I mumbled as I stood next to my sister and watched her look at herself in the mirror.
At one point, she sighed resignedly, falling onto the bed where Rebekah was sitting. The blonde pulled away from the phone, glancing at the doppelgänger.
"What's wrong with you this time? We went through all our wardrobes, and you didn't pick anything? You always look stunning, just go for something."
"Usually, it was Y/N who helped me choose a dress for a date."
The deafening silence that filled the room probably hurt me more than it hurt them. How I would love to be there with them.
"I'm… I'm sorry."
"You don't have to. How could you know? I just… really miss her."
"Yeah. Me too. All of us do."
"I'd probably borrow something from her if she was still here and if Klaus wasn't guarding her room like a vault."
"Speaking of him, I should probably check on him. If you can hear me in any way, take the little red one. Elijah will be delighted." I said getting out of bed and heading to my bedroom. I've probably spent more time in it as a ghost than a vampire.
I entered the room, neatly dodging the piles of books and clothes that Klaus had scattered around, looking for things that still smelled of me. I dreaded thinking what he would do when they were gone. Maybe he'll be in the mood to use my perfume instead and go outside? It was the best scenario.
I sighed, recognizing his curled form on the bed. He was wearing my favorite sweatpants and a (too big for me) sweatshirt. I was a little scared that he could easily fit into my clothes. Several bottles of alcohol and bags of blood were placed next to him. At least he was feeding. I sat next to him, running my hand through his hair (pretending to do so).
"I know it's hard for you and that you can't move on; come to terms with what happened. I'd probably be in much worse shape if I couldn't hear you, see your ridiculously handsome face. But you are stronger than me. Much stronger. You have to get out of this. For yourself, for your siblings, for Hope… for me." I began to cry, trying to somehow hug the also weeping hybrid. "I'm so sorry, Nik."
Suddenly, a very angry Hayley burst into the room with a nervous Elijah behind her.
"KLAUS! That's enough! You have to get yourself in order and get out of this hole. It will be best if you go for a walk with YOUR DAUGHTER. Do you still remember her? Hope misses you and has been restless for several weeks. I can't calm her down, so do your fatherly duty and move your ass, or I'll do it for you."
"Go away." he mumbled, not even looking up since they came in.
The brunette snorted, trying to take my blanket from him, which covered him. As soon as her hands were on the material, the hybrid growled, snatching it from her hands and pinning the woman by the neck to the wall.
"Touch her stuff again, and I'll make it the last thing you do in your miserable, meaningless life."
"Niklaus! Let her go!" I screamed along with Elijah. Klaus ignored his brother, only tightening his grip on the barely alive woman.
"Do you think Y/N would want you to kill your baby's mother?"
Luckily, this convinced the hybrid. He released Hayley from his grip and shoved them both out of the room, locking the door behind them. He threw himself heavily on the bed, inhaling my scent to calm himself down. After a while, tears started flowing from his eyes.
I didn't have it in myself to go with grace And so the battleships will sink beneath the waves You had to kill me, but it killed you just the same
The worst thing about this illness wasn't the debilitating pain. Loneliness was the worst.
Each of the Mikaelsons and Katerina were involved in obtaining the cure. They still had hope. But I resigned myself to my fate the moment Lucien's venom pierced my body with a wooden ball.
That didn't mean I wanted to die alone.
As if on cue, Katerina burst into my room and sat on the bed next to me. I could see her lips move, but I couldn't hear a sound in the world. It wasn't until she poured a glass of cold water over me that my complete consciousness returned to me.
"Are you crazy?!" I shouted. "If you want to get me to my grave faster, there are other ideas." Katerina stopped laughing and suddenly tensed up, glaring reproachfully at me.
"Don't even dare say that. You're not going to die, do you understand? Klaus is getting a cure right now. You will recover. I promise." she said, grabbing my hand and planting a kiss on my forehead, brushing sweaty, wet strands of hair out of my eyes.
"You may be the best liar that ever walked on this earth, but I always knew when you were lying."
"I'm glad I'm not doing it this time. You'll see, you'll be cruising around again in a few hours, avoiding Klaus' argument about obeying his orders."
"At least when I go to hell, I'll meet our father and kick his ass for separating you from Nadia. Maybe Mikael and Dahlia will be on my hit list too." I mumbled, giving in after several hours to the urge to close my eyes. Then I felt that I had been shivering with fever all this time.
"Y/N, open your eyes. You've got to open your eyes for me, just for a little while longer. Please, Y/N."
"We should saddle our horses today and take a ride to the lake. We haven't done that for a long time."
"We'll go to Bulgaria I promise, just open your eyes for me. Molya te, sestrichke otvori ochi."
"Obicham te Katerina." I whispered, feeling the last bloody tears fall from my eyes.
"Y/N! Wake up! Freya!" Katherine screamed in panic, trying to wake me up by shaking my shoulders.
The next few minutes were weightless as I waited to pass into the ghost world. With the remnants of my ebbing life, I felt the commotion around my bed. The bitter liquid was forced down my throat, and someone clenched my jaw to make sure I didn't spit out the horrible liquid. In the background, I could still hear Freya and Davina mumbling, Katerina and Rebekah crying, and Klaus screaming in rage before I was swallowed up in pain-relieving darkness for good.
Cursing my name, wishing I stayed You turned into your worst fears And you're tossing out blame, drunk on this pain Crossing out the good years And you're cursing my name, wishing I stayed Look at how my tears ricochet
It's been a month and a half since my death, and Klaus has made one small, significant progress. He didn't throw his fangs at anyone who so much as uttered my name. After the attack on Hayley, he had controlled his aggression and was not a relative danger to society. Well… at least not more than usual.
I, on the other hand, felt much better than a months ago. My vampire speed somehow reactivated, saving me from chasing the rushing original for half a day. Also, watching my loved ones brought me some relief. Only Klaus was still stuck in place, unable to let me go.
Hayley and Freya joined forces to talk some sense into him and set him on the right path. But even their best efforts could not change the stubborn hybrid's mind.
That's how I got here. At my grave, watching Klaus clean it and add new flowers, throwing out the ones that had faded since his visit yesterday. I got more flowers from him after I died than I've had in 500 goddamn years.
He usually worked in silence, occasionally humming some old song I made him sing ages ago when I was upset. He has always had a wonderful voice.
But today, after a particularly bad fight with Hayley, Elijah, and Freya, he sat on the bench in front of my tombs and did something he hadn't done before. He was talking to me (or rather, to a stone slab with my name on it, but still).
"I know you wouldn't approve of my behavior. I know you would yell at me and get angry. My gods, I never imagined that I would miss it so much. I really wish I could be there for Hope, but I can't. I can't let her see me like this. Even if she's so little now. I know she needs me, but... everyone I love is dying. And I can't let anyone else die again because of me. Especially not my daughter. I want her to live. I want her to grow up. I want her to love, even if it brings you pain and sadness. Be a strong and beautiful woman, as you and her mother. I don't know what to do, Y/N. And I really wish that you were here to tell me, my little vampire."
A fountain of tears spilled from both his and my eyes. For the first time today, I reached for him, pulling him to me in a poor imitation of a hug.
The hybrid jumped up from the bench in fear, staring shocked and suspiciously at the place he had recently occupied. My heart beat faster. Did he? No. It is impossible. Klaus has the same incredulous look as mine. But what if…
"Y/N?" for the first time in these long, cold months, I shed a wave of relief tears. I sat there in shock, staring at the uncertain hybrid with unimaginable happiness. He could feel me. Like I him. "Please, show me it's you, and I'm not delusional."
I rushed over to him, hugging him with all my might. The hybrid almost knocked us to the ground. He probably didn't hear my loud laugh because he would have looked a little more offended than full of disbelief and happiness.
"I'll recognize that smell anywhere. Cruel woman, if you really are just a figment of my imagination and I make a fool of myself by running to my siblings with this, then know that I will meet you soon in hell and will not let your soul depart from me again." I slapped his shoulder for saying such nonsense, and he just laughed, gropingly trying to pull me closer to his chest.
I allowed myself, for the first time in months, to sink into the blissful feel of his warm skin. We needed a moment to ourselves before he shared this discovery with Freya, and their next fight to retrieve me from death's clutches began. For now, I enjoyed Klaus' clinginess.
"Don't even think that I'll deprive you of your touch for a moment. I'm going to hold you until the end of the bloody world." he whispered, moving around me from memory to put his chin on top of my head after he kissed me there softly.
It sounded good. But I knew it wouldn't be enough for us for long.

Moving my head to the side of a pillow that I could feel underneath my head I moaned. Blinking my eyes open I saw someone staring at me that was a blurry figure until they spoke to me. "I was beginning to think that witch knocked the daylights out of you."
"Klaus…how do you know about that?" I asked shifting my body upright on the pillows.
He lifted his gaze upward to meet my tired eyes. “Freya told me that you two went to find Rebekah. But she lost the way to bring Kol back. That’s nothing we need to worry about now though.”
“Then what do we worry about exactly?” I questioned hugging my legs to my chest.
He moved his right hand forward placing his palm over my hand twirling my wedding ring. “You seem to have misunderstood my feelings towards Aurora. I’m here to try and change that. Cause I can’t take anymore time where you won’t talk to me.”
“Nik, I don’t want to hear this right now. If you want to be with your old flame then go. I remember the feeling when I thought I was never going to see you again. The terror and relief all mixed together and built up inside you. Where you just have to let it all snap-“
He covered my mouth with his hand shutting me up resting his forehead against mine. “Sssh my beautiful love. Aurora may be an old flame but she is nothing compared to you. She never brought out the light in me like you do.”
“Klaus, stop-“ He held a finger over my mouth making me actually listen to what he was saying.
“No Raelyn you need to hear me out even if for a second. You have given me everything I never thought was open to having. You are there to bring out the light in me that I thought was gone. You are my heart and soul. You are the part of me that is human.”
Drawing my head back I covered my mouth with my hands giggling through happy tears. “Klaus, okay. I believe you.”
“No I don’t think you do, Rae. It wouldn’t be enough to tell you how much you have changed me. Not in a century, not in a thousand years or even an eternity with you will ever be enough.” He intertwined both my hands with his bringing my left hand to kiss the palm. “Aurora, isn’t the woman sitting in front of me. Aurora, isn’t the woman I proposed to with her grandmother's ring. And Aurora, most certainly isn’t the amazing mother who gave me my extraordinary children. That was all you Raelyn Primrose Lane. It will only ever be you by my side for eternity.”
I moved forward, crashing my lips onto his wrapping my arms around his neck instantly. He moaned into the kiss running one hand into my hair and the other falling onto my back. He gently pushed me onto my back on the mattress breaking the kiss with us both panting. “I love you, Niklaus Mikaelson.”
“And I you, Raelyn Mikaelson.” He nuzzled his nose against mine planting a kiss there smiling the biggest smile I had ever seen. “Just for the future if you ever doubt who holds my heart just ask. And I will be sure to show you just how worthy you are to me.”
Someone came up the stairs knocking on the door before we could go back to having a heated make out session. “Niklaus, our guests are arriving.”
“Guests, what are you up to now?” I questioned when we both sat up and I noticed a light blue dress hanging in the closet with some tan flats for me.
He offered me his hand tugging me up to stand when he kissed the crown of my head vamping out of the room. “My brother and I are going to attempt to get Rebekah back home. I’ll meet you downstairs, Rae.”
Lucien noticed someone new walking in with a thing of flowers, sitting them on the table. “Ah, flowers for me. You shouldn't have.”
The man looked in my direction when I slowly came down the long staircase. “That's for the lady of the house. The well-mannered bring a gift when invited to dinner. I assume you brought nothing.
Lucien clicked his tongue. “Nothing but my deepest respect for you….Raelyn, you are such a sight.”
Klaus entered the room holding out his hand for me when I reached the bottom of the stairs. “Lovely. We're all getting along. Tristian, I would like to introduce you to my queen, Raelyn.”
“Hi Tristian, I would say it’s a pleasure but you have my sister in law so…” I sniped tilting my head to the side with a smirk.
He nodded, lowering his hand once we had shaken hands. “We are all here to protect the person who sired us. We don’t have to be friends with everyone.”
Everyone of us sat down at the large table covered with food. Sitting down by Nik I moved my gaze to his vampire. “It's a bit odd, isn't it, celebrating an American holiday?”
Elijah tapped his fingers together. “Well, you know, Lucien, I rather enjoy Thanksgiving... the turkey, the cranberry sauce, the lies, the deceit, the betrayal. Perhaps we should begin this evening's proceedings with a little confession, and do help yourselves.”
Aurora who had came in the compound moments ago scolded. “So this entire dinner is meant to be some boorish inquisition. How rude.”
Klaus waved his hand at her. “Nonsense, luv. My brother merely wishes to make certain we're all on the same page, so who would like to begin?”
Tristan responded. “Well, Lucien and I have always loathed each other. Had we arrived as allies with news of a bleak future, you would have doubted us. We sought to remove suspicion by maintaining appearances.”
Lucien raised his hands up. “The bottom line is, we came to protect you and ourselves. We have never wavered on this point.”
Picking up a piece of turkey I shifted my gaze back to Nik’s vampire. “Well, if one wanted to obtain a certain item in, say, a private collection but one was not invited to the home where said private collection was located, police investigation could come in very handy to remove these items as evidence.”
Elijah put the pieces together himself. “I take it that you are referring to the medallion.”
Tristan looked at his red headed sister. “I suppose it was my sister who shared that bit of information.”
Klaus leaned back in his chair. “Don't blame Aurora. You two are hardly conspiratorial geniuses.”
Lucien chuckled looking from Nik then over to me. “Funny story... it turns out all along that the medallion was in the hands of Nik's friend Camille the bartender-slash-therapist. Had to get her arrested in order to search her goodies, so to speak, but I would never allow any harm to come to her, knowing the great affection you have for her….especially that she is Raelyn’s friend.”
Biting down on my turkey leg I moved my gaze feeling someone glaring at me. Locating that it was Aurora I felt nervous until Nik placed a hand on my knee drawing my gaze away. “A medallion that could lock us away hardly seems like a wise strategy for those come to protect us. Hand it over. And release Rebekah.”
Lucien glanced to her across the table. “Uh, just a tick. Aurora has Rebekah, hmm?”
Aurora smiled, leaning her elbows on the table. “No reason why I shouldn't be trusted with my sire's safety.”
Lucien added. “Of course, unless you were to have one of your episodes.”
Tristan shrugged his shoulders. “Easy, Lucien. My sister sought leverage to protect herself. Who among us would do otherwise?”
Elijah ran a hand over his chin in thought. “Niklaus, would you politely remind me why we shouldn't just compel them all to give us what we want?”
“You know that is a great question, Elijah.” Rising to my feet I slammed my palms on the table glaring at the other vampires. “I think that we can go far from compulsion don’t you. Considering these two have taken my sister in law hostage in who knows where. Oh and thus one nearly broke up our marriage making me think that I wasn’t the one for him.” Pointing my index finger at Aurora and holding my gaze on her brother.
Tristan moved his gaze around the table explaining what we all already knew. “Our continued existence depends on the Mikaelsons. We've known that since Finn and Kol died. Unfortunately, so does every other vampire in the world. Given that the sire lines have declared war against one another, you can imagine how many young upstarts have come to the same conclusion... kill an Original, wipe out an entire line of rivals. Heavy burden, isn't it, the lives of thousands of sired vampires resting on your shoulders? In a perfect world, you'd allow us to seal you away forever, thus eliminating the threat.”
Klaus put his hands together on the table. “Fortunately, the world is far from perfect.”
“And we have grown to enjoy such company of some. So how about we put every vampire who is concerned for their life inside a tomb of their own.” I smirked, taking back my seat beside Klaus who was smirking with his eyes going golden in a second.
Elijah sighs, picking up a glass of wine. “With all the nauseating dinner theater we've endured throughout the centuries, these performances are, by far, the worst. Aurora, my sister…”
My husband interrupted him. “Aurora is quite aware of our desire to see Rebekah home, and I'm sure she'll do everything in her power to oblige.”
Footsteps came into the room where we all saw Freya enter the dining hall. “We're welcoming our enemies to the dinner table now? Convenient, given she's the one who has the answers I want.”
Aurora rolls her eyes getting to her feet. “Oh, for heaven's sake, now I have to deal with the long-lost sister? Nik, please spare me your family's rage and paranoia. It is exactly this kind of lunacy which led me to steal Rebekah in the first place.”
Freya snarled. “What did you do with her?”
Aurora whipped her head around from us and back to Freya not regretting what she was telling our group. “Oh, I'm sorry, luv, but this prophecy has you all acting as fools, and I've no intention of risking my life to foolishness. Now, I can't trust Rebekah with any of you, and I certainly can't trust the silly dear to endure on her own, so I decided to put her someplace safe. Imagine a spot where no harm could come to her, where, in fact, no one could possibly even track her down. Yes. Rest assured, Rebekah is perfectly fine... at the bottom of the ocean.”
Klaus and I shared the same glare at the girl. “You're bluffing. Tell me you're bluffing.”
Aurora clasped her hand together. “Oh, you should all be thanking me. Rebekah's never been safer. She has plenty of company down there. There's all the little crabs and octopus and…”
Klaus got to his feet about to kill her until Tristian put a blade to Freya’s throat. “Harm my sister, and I'll be forced to return the favor.”
Elijah grabbed him and vamped him into the wall way from her. Lucien responded holding his glass. “Oh, this all escalated very quickly.”
Klaus pointed his index finger at his vampire threatening him. “Shut up, Lucien, or I'll tear your tongue from your head!”
Lucien pointed his finger at him still holding his glass in the same hand. “Be careful with your threats, Nik. Anything should happen to me, I won't be able to protect your precious Cami.”
“Ok. That is the second time I've heard her name. Just who is this Cami?” Aurora raised her voice
Jumping up to my feet I vamped forward holding Aurora by her throat showing her my fangs. “She’s my friend and my godmother of my daughters. So you do your best to remember that once I snap your neck bitch!”
Freya raised her hand using her magic to snap her neck for me. “You have bigger problems.”
Klaus threw his hands away from his side once I let her limp body drop from my nails. “Freya!”
Elijah drags Tristian back to the table putting him in a chair. “Niklaus... Which of these two vulgar parasites would you first like to torture?”
Klaus put his hands on Lucien’s shoulders glancing over to me, then whispering in his ear. “Well, it's half a dozen of one and 6 of the other, isn't it? Why don't you take the stable boy? Tristan and I are long overdue a good catch-up. Oh, if anything happens to Camille…”
Elijah tilts his head to the side finishing his brother’s sentence. “Oh, I'm quite certain Lucien's aware, devastating error.”
“Oh oh oh. I’ll call the bitchy redhead along with Freya.” I raised my hand like I was answering a question in kindergarten with a smirk on my face when I dropped my gaze down to the neck snapped vampire girl. “I think it’s time I try my hand at revenge with my humanity on wouldn’t you say, Nik?”
He moved away from his vampire tucking hair behind my ear that had fallen still smirking the same grin like me. “Indeed my queen. I suggest starting small. The fingernails or tounge.” I smirked knowing what happened next would be fun.
