Info time: Diabetes and related issues [this is long but I highly suggest reading]

Do you ever see something and you go "that doesn't sound right, but I don't know enough about diabetes to dispute it"? Well, I can help you there. I can help you know enough about diabetes to dispute it if need be. Especially because well, there are seemingly a lot of scams going around where people claim to be diabetic [in my experience it's maybe 3 scammers that just remake] and the information is not very correct in most cases. Not to mention this type of scam pisses me off because I am in fact diabetic, and not only are people preying off of others' lack of information about the chronic condition, but it's also trivializing a serious lifelong condition that can be fatal. If you have now or have lost a loved one to diabetes complications, you are already aware of how dangerous it can be as well as how dangerous misinformation is as well.

What is diabetes? Diabetes is a chronic condition related to the endocrine system- the pancreas specifically. However, if complications get serious enough other parts of the body will be affected. In type 2 diabetes, the body's cells have become resistant to insulin, which is a hormone produced by the pancreas that allows cells to use glucose from the blood- your body's energy it needs to function. When someone is 'type 2', the food that person is eating is not able to fuel them, regardless of caloric content. Glucose is commonly called "blood sugar". It's a type of sugar that is processed and then transported via the circulatory system to your cells where it's needed. With type 1 diabetes (which used to be called "juvenile diabetes"), the pancreas does not produce any/enough insulin for some reason or another, generally because of autoimmune or other damage. [For me personally, I was diagnosed as an adult and had to have it confirmed as type 1 due to the presence of autoimmune antibodies, also apparently my pancreas hadn't quite given up at that point.] As we've seen before, insulin allows your body to use the food you are putting into it. As a double whammy, you can have type 1 with resistance, so not only is your body not producing any/enough insulin, what's there can't be used properly. [RIP Spider who has this] So to explain the effects, think about what happens when you're literally starving. Now imagine that's happening no matter how much you eat. Your body may go into starvation mode and store fat. This can be misleading, which when combined with fatphobia has people concluding that "well, you have diabetes because you're fat, duh". Heck, I have/had diabetic relatives who believed that eating too many carbs will automatically cause the condition because that's what everyone is told/assumes. Eventually, you'd starve and your body would start deteriorating as so. HOWEVER because you would have so much glucose that just sits there because it can't be used, your kidneys are going to work overtime to try and correct this- and they can't do it alone. Your liver can also suffer severe damage. That's not to mention a whole host of other complications that can occur.

So what about it? Well, obviously there are treatments. Insulin injections have existed since the 1920s. There are also medications that can help your body actually use the insulin it's being provided, be it naturally or artificially. So yes, people with diabetes are dependent on prescriptions to survive. My grandma lost a sister in childhood due to insulin treatments apparently not being available in the extremely rural area they were living in at the time. More recently, the israeli occupation has banned insulin from being distributed to Palestinians. [Insulin has also been used historically in psychiatric hospitals to force low blood sugar in psychiatric patients, but that's a whole other rabbithole about psychiatric abuse.] There are resources for the US and beyond if you or someone you know and/or love are in dire straits financially and need help with insulin or other diabetes medications/ related medical help. That's only one aspect of treatment, though. Because pain, stress, hormone changes, other medical issues, and plenty of other factors can raise your blood sugar to dangerous levels, other kinds of treatment to manage other factors may be necessary.

Now that that's out of the way, let's get to specifics. So the most common problem you're going to see mentioned is high blood sugar. We've already covered what the effects are, but what is considered high? For the most part, "high" is 200 milligrams per deciliter. My CGM (continuous glucose monitor) lists "high" as anything 181 or higher but stops giving an exact number after 350. This is why I had a good laugh that time I saw a scammer using an image of a meter reading glucose in the 120s- that's good blood sugar. If you're going to get even more specific you want your pre-breakfast blood sugar to be 80-130. So when you see an accompanying image reading in the 500s, that's extremely dangerous. That's "you're in danger of going into a coma" dangerous.

Insulin pricing? How come I'm seeing people saying they need $300? In the US, pricing cap was set to $35 somewhat recently. What this means is that per insulin pen (as far as I've experienced, the above-linked resource post should have links with better clarification) it's $35. Can't be more than that for one pen. How many doses that provides is very up in the air. It absolutely varies from person to person. I have relatives with type 2 that have to inject a dose of very long-acting insulin weekly, one has gone back and forth with daily doses on top of that. I'm type 1 and have to take one dose of long-acting nightly with injections of a short-acting insulin before every meal, with the exact dosage amounts varying per meal. Insulin is measured in units (there's probably an actual mL amount, both of mine are 100 units per mL with a 3mL pen). How many units someone needs is determined with their medical provider (or care team? When I went to 'diabetes education' after diagnosis I was set up with a "care team").

But at any rate, if someone is in an emergency situation in the US should be able to get an insulin pen for $35 pretty much when they get to a pharmacy. Yes, I get that this can be difficult in some situations, but that's outside the concept of insulin prices.

If someone's blood sugar is over 500 though, they almost certainly need a hospital more than they need an insulin pen. Yes, alright, the actual real single mother on twitter who was the source of the profile images/meter images that whatever the current url for vero-og has stolen and been using for months... that was actually months ago and I'm sure she doesn't need to be told to go to the hospital right now. [That said, if you get an ask from someone and the url is a variation off of 'vero-og' that is a confirmed scammer.] And then on top of that, yes, why would you block people that can get you free or discounted insulin? If someone was offering to save your life for free or find you what you need for far less than what you were expecting to spend, why wouldn't you take it? Unless what you're actually after is money.

SO TO RECAP: Insulin does not cost $300, $350, $370, whatever someone is sending you an ask about. In the US, it is federally capped at $35 per pen, with further resources available, as well as further resources being available internationally. If you need help, please be honest about it. I promise there are people who care, you don't have to try and explain yourself- but it absolutely does not cost that much and if it did, there are ways to lower the cost by quite a bit if there aren't resources to make it free. Diabetes is a lifelong chronic condition that is not caused by "being fat" or "eating too much", it is caused by your body not functioning right and your body can starve no matter how much food you eat. Unfortunately, people have been lying on this site for months if not years claiming to have type 1 with an insulin emergency. These people cannot possibly have diabetes, or they would be well aware that they do not need hundreds of dollars to get their insulin. They are counting on you not knowing this so you will donate to them. The 'vero-og' scammer had been harassing someone who donated and threatening them with the intention of bullying more money out of the donor.

Diluc:

Most of the time, you only feel the smoothness of his glove wrapped around your hand - which still, is quite rare for him; generally, Diluc doesn't hold hands with you that much. Not that he doesn't like it, but simply, he'd rather save it for special occasions - such as a particularly rougher mission, feeling more emotional than usual, or perhaps there's a big event coming for both of you, like birthday or anniversary. Diluc's hands are rough and veiny - and due to battles, calloused - the aforementioned might be the cause of his unwillingness as well, but you don't mind - it's what makes you want to feel him. It's what makes him... him. However, Diluc always reciprocates whenever you want to hold hands.

When you're both panting heavily, sprawled on the bed and recovering after previous activities, Diluc's bare hand slips slowly to intertwine itself with yours; his grip is tight, thumb gently stroking your soft skin, but he doesn't dare to look - the crimson haired man wants to savor the moment by just feeling you squeeze his hand in response, that causes him to involuntarily smile.

Kaeya:

Another man, another pair of gloves. Kaeya is very fond of hand holding, no matter where - be it public, or private; he loves strolling through the city of Mondstadt and walking hand in hand, showing off his precious significant other. When you're off to festivals, his hand NEVER leaves yours - "I don't want to lose you, silly," he always says. If his eyes catch a special wine or tavern, his hands signals it by playfully squeezing yours.

In private, Kaeya's bony and slender hands always want to be interlocked - as long as one of his hands is free, the hand automatically searches for yours, craving for the warmth no one else is able to replicate. One of his guilty pleasures is gently pressing a kiss to your intertwined hands. Kaeya doesn't seem to realize it, but his eyes often wander to observe your hands - it makes him feel alive, to see you're just as willing to participate. Every day, it makes him happier that he's made the right choice, even if his past will one day remind him of itself.

Zhongli:

Absolutely relishes in holding hands and is not afraid to show it. Always asks whether you want to hold him through the gloves or bare - he really doesn't mind, but secretly prefers (and hopes) you'll want him to take them off. The feeling of both of your hands pressing against each other just so perfectly, especially during colder days, is what makes Zhongli truly experience the passion of life. His hands are permanently on the warmer side as well, no matter what season it might be.

The former archon's hands are, expectedly, thick and way bigger than yours - moreover, they possess great strength, yet... they also look very delicate, because all of his scars heal quite quickly. He often compares the sizes of your hands - almost as if he couldn't believe this is real; every time you catch him doing it, Zhongli just kisses your cheek softly and smiles. Seeing his hand engulf yours entirely makes him want to protect you at all costs, even if it means crossing weapons with entities beyond this world.

Xiao:

Poor thing, he absolutely loves holding hands, but most of the time, he just... restrains himself from doing it. He's so afraid of tainting you with his karma, losing yet another person who he cares about so deeply- he doesn't voice it though, making it seem like he's just not very into it - but it hurts. It hurts to want it so badly, after watching you sleep beside him and your hand laying there before him, begging to be held. He extends his arm, wanting to touch, to feel, to love - but seeing you shift your position makes him flinch and not dare to continue.

Xiao's hands are cold, thin, and... shy. He holds your hand so softly, afraid to break you; after a while, with enough consolidation, he isn't as strict and scared as he used to. His favorite time to hold hands is whenever you don't really see it (much to your dismay) - usually in your sleep, even if you can't hold his hand back. Xiao caresses your hand ever so slightly with his gloved fingers, melting slightly as he feels the overwhelming happiness flowing within him. Rarely, he takes off his gloves, and both of his hands envelope one of yours - letting the bittersweet tears fall free.

Ayato:

Welcome to the gloves club at this point. Ayato holds a bit of restraint when it comes to the public - he doesn't want to appear too obnoxious, as he has a reputation to maintain. This does not mean, however, that he doesn't hold hands with you in public - he does! and hopes that one day, he won't have to worry about people's opinions this much. During Inazuma festivals, he always finds a slightly secluded area, where he can freely snake his hand around yours; seeing you hold back the giddiness, he can't help but give you a loving peck on the temple.

Ayato's slightly scarred hands with long fingers often enjoy the company of yours; in his free time, behind closed doors, when your boyfriend is finally free - he listens to your ramblings while gently holding your hand underneath the kotatsu. He's also very fond of drawing adorable patterns on your palm!

Itto:

"Behold people, the Aratakis have arrived!" Itto raises your interlaced hands in the air.

He yells that by the way, yeah.

Even though more people roll their eyes at him than cheer (and that you aren't married just yet), Itto makes sure every single soul sees you. He boasts about it everywhere, to everyone, at every hour. He's finally learned how to properly hold hands and the ideal amount of strength, so it can't just go to waste, right? The oni loves to swing your hands while walking if the day goes juuust right, but will tone down the extraness if you don't like it. Whenever he falls asleep on your lap, he always wants to hold your hand - he claims that this way, your love transfers to his dreams and wards off nightmares (please go along with it, he really took his time making up the possible best excuse).

Similarly to Zhongli, he also compares his hands to yours - except he just can't c o m p r e h e n d how small and cute they are compared to his massive, veiny ones, with excessive talking. "Babe, sugar, listen. We ARE the perfect match. Do you see this? My handsome hand fits just right against yours. This can't be a coincidence, I'm telling you. No, no, no, but seriously, lil bug, have you ever wondered why your hands are this small? That's right - they've been made just for me, Arataki "numero uno boyfriend" Itto, haha!"

"But for real this time, I've never, ever, EVER, seen such a tiny wittle, hand in my ENTIRE life. It's so, so adorable, like, you might be actually the only one hand I've seen up close, but you know what? Recently I kinda, you know, wanted to see if there's anyone that can match your absolute beauty, so I tried it on Shinobu. And as you might guess, you're still the cutest...! By the way, mind givin' me a massage on the head?"

Alhaitham:

The scribe doesn't really like PDA, therefore hand holding in public happens only if there's a very small group of people he isn't concerned about, or you really, really need it. He's also worried about your safety and the Akademiya, so he doesn't want to endanger you, since he's messed with them, more or less. But deep down, Alhaitham enjoys the warmth of your hand and how it always takes you off guard when he suddenly intertwines your hands together; the rose blush that spreads on your face makes him chuckle and fight the urge to plant a sweet kiss on your lips (which he usually loses and caves in).

Alhaitham's hands are neat, soft, and slightly bony; if you crave his touch so much, the best way to feel his smooth hands is by taking him on a late-night stroll. When there's just the two of you, enjoying the cold breeze and silence on the usually busy streets, the radiating warmth from the scribe's tight grip is more than enough to send another wave of butterflies in your stomach. If you can't go out or simply prefer not to, Alhaitham is at all times willing to read you a book while cuddling and gently squeezing your hands together from time to time.

Cyno:

Good luck, this man has a DEATH GRIP on you for a while. He really thinks it's fine, but sometimes it causes you some funny tingling in your hand... Cyno only realizes the amount of force he's been using after seeing you frown and ordering you to mimic his grip. Long story short, Cyno quickly demanded some "handholding practice", which was.. actually going really well. Except for having to listen to hand jokes he's learned just for you, for this very special occasion.

"Love, what tree can fit in one's hand? A palm tree."

"How many bones do you think a human hand would have?

...a handful."

That was tough, but hey, your bones are finally safe now! Cyno's hands are skinny, but skillful and slightly stiff. When there are no enemies around, the General Mahamatra guides you through the desert hand in hand; even though his grasp is still on the heavier side, this time... it feels comforting. It gives you a confirmation, that he's here to protect you. To Cyno, the world of dating seems a bit strange - but even he can't deny the calmness within his soul while merely feeling your fingers between his.

Wikipedia Rabbitholes #1.001: Self-Immolation

This is a small update to my prior post on the wikipedia rabbithole of self immolation.

The Wikipedia page on self immolation has grown slightly larger. On Feb. 25, 2024, Aaron Bushnell became the second person to self immolate in protest of the war in Gaza.

My heart goes out to the family and loved ones of this man. He was just 25. He felt he could "no longer be complicit in genocide." The Genocide case against Israel is currently ongoing within the United Nations Intentional Court of Justice.

I have only one point to add to the general discourse surrounding his death. It's quite possible this man signed his death warrant years earlier, when he became a member of the U.S. Air Force. Joining the military requires you substitute your own ethics, reasoning, and judgment for that the government. Be skeptical of such organizations and don't join unless you are completely convinced that your values are and will remained aligned. And even then...

When strong willed people join organizations that demand conformity, like the military, they will try to kill you. Their first choice is to kill your spirit, to break you down and build you back up into their idea of a servicemember. To destroy who you were before. If that doesn't work. You may find the cognitive dissonance so all consuming that you would rather die than continue. It's not like you can just quit the military before your term is up. That's one way to end up in prison.

I've seen too many people leave the military with broken minds and broken bodies, as the pile of their shattered collective dreams climbs higher and higher, as the shadow of stolen potential engulfs the world, even in "peacetime." Aaron Bushnell's immolated corpse was thrown on that mountain because he would not and could not conform. So my two cents is thus: don't join the military.

Episode 10 has put me squarely in my Jeng feelings in a way I have not obsessed about a character probably since Teh Krittikorn Saetun. After watching him compartmentalize his way into a complete abdication of responsibility this week, and having read literally every piece of stellar meta the fandom has churned out, but especially from folks like @bengiyo and @nakasomethingkun about the corporate setting actually being the point of this story...I'm completely down the rabbithole, no way out guys. I vacillate between my optimistic and pessimistic expectations on how satisfactorily this story will wrap. @lurkingshan and @neuroticbookworm STAY on Tee's ass and I can't quite say they're wrong. But the thing I'm now 100% sure about is that the romance is not the point of this story. The romance is here in service of points Tee wants to make and themes he wants to explore around capitalism and queerness (second time Tee is going hard at this idea, after poking at it in Lovely Writer). Tee is using romance because it's the most effective way to make queerness legible for and saleable to a general audience, WHICH IS IN ITSELF A COMMENTARY ON CAPITALISM AND QUEERNESS BUT I JUST BLEW MY OWN DAMN MIND AND HAVE TO PUT THAT IDEA DOWN FOR NOW.

Jeng, Jeng is the character sitting at the intersection, at the tension point between capitalism and queerness. Jeng, who thanks to @waitmyturtles DRILLING Asian family dynamics into my head over the last few months, I have realised is incredibly unlikely to be able to escape his fate as the heir to Jian Group. Why does Jeng work TWO FULL TIME JOBS? Because he can only have the things he wants if he also accepts the things he never wanted. He can't abandon Jian Group, but he can build next to it an entire other life: Pearl & Oliver, queer speakeasies, doing his little part to minimize food waste and support a marginalized community, and Pat. COMPARTMENTALIZATION. For all Jeng's big talk about work/life integration, he doesn't even consider that he can mesh the things he wants with the things he's obligated to do until Pat points it out to him under that bridge. Shouts to the homie @wen-kexing-apologist for breaking that scene down and making me realise that moment is the closest Jeng got this episode to the shape of the relationship he actually wants with Pat. But I'm getting ahead of myself.

I say all that by way of preamble (I'm a long-winded bitch, strap in) on the way to one of my actual points: nobody actually KNOWS Jeng Kittiphong Atthachiranon. Even the two people closest to him in the story, Jaab and Tae, only know pieces. Pat barely knows him at all, because even though he desperately WANTS Pat to know him, the boss thing was a barrier to that, and now they've speedrun straight into a unholy mess when they should have been truly getting to know each other. You can see how, were it not for Jeng's slow motion rolling breakdown (of which his intense infatuation with Pat is honestly part and parcel) and Pat's role at Jian Group, these two could have spent a year at this pace, fucking and talking and falling in love and it would have been FINE. But the life Jeng never wanted broke containment and rolled over Pat, and now here they are.

@plantsarepeopletoo pointed out how the narrative punishes characters for going too fast or out of order (Jaab and Jen), and rewards those who take their time and stay the course (Chot). We thought Jeng would be the latter. That's the Jeng we're introduced to: calm, sensible, logical, responsible, in control. But that Jeng is a TOTAL SHAM, that Jeng is a façade built to meet the world's expectations of him, a carefully crafted and cultivated image of cisheteropatriarchal corporate masculine perfection. The Jeng who has been panting after Pat for the better part of a year and doing absolutely INSANE shit to get next to him, that's the real Jeng. This episode was Jeng trying to rebuild the wall between his two lives after having it collapse last ep and utterly failing BECAUSE PAT NOW IS PART OF HIS LIFE ON BOTH SIDES OF THAT WALL. He cannot neatly compartmentalize Pat into his Desired Life, because Pat also has to exist in his Expected Life. And Pat doesn't actually know Jeng, because this is all happening too fast and out of order, so he doesn't know that Jeng is in the middle of a full-on existential crisis as his two worlds collide.

Sidenote: Pat accidentally hit on Jeng's compartmentalization tendencies early in the show I realize, when he drunkenly whinged about how he couldn't understand why Jeng felt like two different people, and he didn't know which one was the real one. I think that sort of bullseye targeting at the heart of Jeng is one of a host of reasons Jeng fell so hard and so totally for Pat: he thought Pat understood him on some level. It's why having to come out to Pat, having to explain himself when he thought he didn't have to, knocked him onto the back foot and things haven't REALLY been right with them since.

It's so sad, and SO QUEER that Jeng is living this double life and it's slowly breaking him. He's coming apart at the seams trying to hold it all and not lose any of it. Jeng talked a good game about work/life integration, but the flip side of that is bringing your whole self to work. And he can't do that, he can't even think of doing that, right? But he's gotta do something because now Pat has been dragged into the mess, and worse yet Pat has brought Jeng's Desired Life to the direct and un-ignorable attention of the key figure in Jeng's Expected Life: his father. And while I think Jeng's father is aware of his Desired Life (disapprovingly natch, but silently allowing it as long as Jeng continues to live his Expected Life), I think he's stood ready to stamp it out the minute it becomes a problem. And the problem has arrived. That's why Jeng looks so sick when he realizes that Pat went to his father to resign. The shit has truly hit the fan. Compartmentalization is over.

in my mind it starts with the reader as a human enjoying their days with lulu basking in the sun but eventually as they age they get turned so they can no longer (yes I was rereading your fic about reader asking to be turned by adrian what about it) and maybe eventually reader and alucard travel some place where the locals use their own form of sun protection (ie real life example: otjize used by Himba ppl of Namibia) like some kind of paste and studies it to find out what about it protects the skin from the sun and making his own paste you can use to finally spend some time in the sun again <3

With single-minded pursuit, Adrian toiled away in his laboratory for months on end to see his darling bask in the sunshine again. She is his sun, after all, the very light of his life. She deserves that much at the very least.

"It does not suit you to be in the shade all day long, my love," he tells her once he has crafted a somewhat effective sun balm.

“This balm is not going to give you immunity to the sun, I’m afraid,” he patiently explains. “And you do need to apply it rather generously.”

Adrian slathers a thick layer of the balm across her cheek as if to prove his point. She scrunches her nose in distaste, but nods all the same.

“But… it should allow you to be outside for even just a couple minutes,” he finally reveals.

At that, her face lit up like the sunlight that she is, squealing with utter joy. She jumps into his arms and peppers him with sweet kisses, smearing the sun balm all over his face in her excitement.

His little concoction stands no chance against prolonged exposure to the sun, no, but it is enough for her to stand out there and feel its warmth for a bit.

The joy that erupted from her fine features as she stepped into the sun for the first time in years was worth every effort, worth all of it and more.

And another thing (this is the last one, I promise, I will stop going on tags and rabbitholing my way into reading discussions i disagree with)

Another thing I don't know where came from is the idea that the rest of the party doesn't interact with their relationship, that it is something isolated and that the others don't comment or interfere with, that it's kept apart from the group, because that is simply not true?

I'm too lazy to look for exact quotes right now, but in episode 65 Ashton was the one, after Laudna's outburst, that insisted for her to go somewhere to reconnect with Imogen, sure Imogen kept saying she would be with Laudna, but Ashton very clearly knew that some time alone with Imogen could make her feel better.

But you also have other things sprinkled out through the campaign like the "are you staring because you are jealous?" From Fearne during the dusk arc, FCG after getting the share dream spell suggesting numerous times to use with them, FCG getting Imogen to kiss Laudna's forehead for the ritual, Orym comparing Imogen's loss to his own six years before, "that dead lady's got a lot of love in her heart", Ashton and FCG helping Laudna on the gift shop, Fearne trying to to help in episode 65 telling Laudna Imogen was thinking about her the whole time.

My point is the party is not alienated from them, they have private moments, sure, but some post I read was talking about how the party doesn't interfere with the "stagnation" of their relationship, which just sounds so weird to me? Where exactly do they need to interfere? Unless one of them was having trouble and was asking for advice (which is something that, ya know, happened) I don't see why they need to interject, unless you want their relationship/dynamic to change, because it is not your cup of tea, so it isn't that the other characters don't interact with their relationship is that you want the interaction to be different (which is valid, I disagree but everyone has their taste in shipping and fiction in general), but trying to say that they keep their relationship far removed from the others is not really true is it?

I decided to ask around on all the fish/ocean blogs I follow: how do you learn more about the ocean?? I love the ocean and I really wanna learn more about my favorite sea creatures and beyond but I have no idea how to get started. Are there documentaries or shows your recommend? Books? How do you go about doing research for fun (the American school system has failed me, go figure)? How do you even remember it all? I crave to learn but where I could possibly start is as vast as the ocean itself.

i think i replied to this ask on someone elses answer too, but ill repeat what i said

i usually go looking on wikipedia for something that seems interesting, or google scholar

and then what you do, after finding something that seems interesting, is go either to the reference list, or the "cited by" and you can go on an endless rabbithole of similar papers about one or two topics

as to remembering it all. uh. the answer is i dont really

i often have to refer back to notes and things, i dont really know any scientific names or anything past the ones i put effort into and made flashcards for

most academics are generally focused on one niche topic, its very very hard to Know Everything about Everything. if you find one or two topics you find interesting to begin with, you might start absorbing knowledge

Since I am still stuck mostly bedridden and coughing and sniffling up a storm, I went down a rabbithole of looking back at my drawings of them and…yeah you're 100% right anon, this is a noticeable pattern all the way back to the beginning XD

I feel like this is slightly indicative of my view of their characters in general lol—I could never pick a favorite between them because I just enjoy them in very different ways, but when I was first getting into BSD I looked at Dazai and instantly went "okay yup, he's a stinky bastard man, got it" whereas with Chuuya I have been rotating him in my head for more than a year to try to figure him out and also just to appreciate him aksdjfksdfjksdfj (and reading Storm bringer made the speed of rotation become that of an overpowered spinning teacup ride)

...Although that said, Chuuya does get the gremlin treatment whenever I draw him angry XD

HELLO, DEAR MUTUALS (please read if you're a mutual of mine)

I have decided that these days I am not going to be on the Internet as much for several reasons:

My mental health; being online so much really isn't helpful and it stresses me out and it makes me feel like I'm not doing anything worthwhile. my general digital screentime is extremely high. also, I just feel much better off the internet no matter how addicting the internet really is, I just feel better in the real world and I feel much better going outside. I just feel much happier of the 'net, much more alive

My school life ; my grades are absolutely. horrendous. And if I don't want to repeat the whole school year, I'll have to study, even though I need additional help and support (which I am a bit ashamed of personally). In order to focus on my grades I won't be on the internet as much so I can study more and relearn almost a whole decade of school (don't ask, it's complicated)

Pursuing new interests; this sort of ties into the mental health aspect of it all, but I want to pursue more "productive" or more creative interests, and to do so I would have to spend less time on the internet. I want to play the flute more, I want to draw more, I want to learn more, I want to animate, I want to sing, act, crochet, craft, etc; the internet and digital life distracts me from my goals as to who I wanna be and how I want to spend my time

To get more friends; I love my mutuals, and I consider them all great friends!!! genuinely, interacting with you all makes me so happy. But I think having more non-online friends might do me some good.

To reconnect with my language a bit more; this one isn't as serious but as a person who's first language isn't English, at times I feel deeply ashamed of the fact that I speak the English language better than my own language. The reason as to why that is because I spend more time communicating with online people (with the English language) rather than speaking with people in my country. This one like I said isn't as serious but I just want to be more familiar with my own language than the English language hope you don't mind!!!

My physical health; I don't think this one needs much explaining?

To simply rediscover a better purpose in my life

To not disappoint the people around me - this isn't my primary reason for doing any of this but it feels so fucking awful whenever millennials and older people talk shit about the newer generations and how they have no life outside of their digital life, with little regard to the newer generations own emotions or well being. I feel like I'm disappointing my grandma, my father and the random people on the internet and myself. Again I have much better reasons to stop using the internet as much but this is one of the many reasons I have

Now, this might change? Idk, I might come back this weekend and start binge using the internet again and go down the awful internet rabbithole again. I will still go online sometimes!! Just most definitely not as much
