finished the terror show! and i gotta say — probably not a surprise but — i liked the book better. tbh i don't think the show was long enough. like the book was SO long and despite the slow moving pace it had SO much packed into it, and i think because the show was only 10 episodes it ended up having to smush a bunch of things together and skip out of others and that totally took away from it. don't get me wrong, it's a decent show! but i think it had the potential to be even better if they'd gotten to like, take the time to faithfully adapt the book.

So what would happen if the Deputy ran into some?"

his full name is timothy cooper donovan, but he always went by cooper.

he's sixteen and his sister, ava, is eight.

his parents were preppers (his dad and eli were prepper buddies) and his paternal grandpa was a vietnam vet. he learned his hunting/survival skills from his parents and his trap making skills from his grandpa

he used to be a boy scout

staci pratt was his babysitter when he was 6-8 years old and he thought pratt was cool

he's very technically minded, likes cars and wanted to become a mechanic or engineer

his parents died during the Reaping, leaving him and his little sister to fend for themselves

within the canon of the fic (as of ch. 4) he is shown to have killed at least 3 peggies (2 with a shotgun, rescuing Rook, and one with a spike trap) however it's implied that he's killed more than that with the traps he's set.

he is SEVERELY TRAUMATIZED but bottles all that up because he has his little sister to take care of

on a more narrative level, for as much as the fic is an enemies to lovers slowburn between Rook and Jacob, it's also an exploration of what it means to be an older brother/older sibling, and cooper contributes to that, as one of his functions in the narrative is to serve as a reflection/mirror to both Jacob and Rook's younger selves and their relationship(s) with their younger sibling(s)

jordan and collin remind me of the pretty wide-eyed girl and her ugly friend that follows her around and keeps gross guys at bay. their relationship feels very hmmm slowburn switch between ignorance and want? like collin is constantly intrigued by Jordan's kind of intangible warmth that's akin to that one high guy at a party you end up talking to in a corner the whole night because he's just so laid back and willing to chat without being pushy, judgemental, or annoying. a surprisingly great listener who laughs at your jokes and plays off them or calls back to them when you least expect it. and collin values that more than he thinks he does because he can be his usual in your face but also kind of awkward when he can't be sexton who gets judged for being too 'much' sometimes. so he really secretly not so secretly admires Jordan and constantly wants to be around him and his 'approval' because it makes him feel like he's right in his way of acting/just being. Doesn't know if he wants Jordan or just wants to be Jordan

And Jordan is always surprised, when he notices it, by collin's attention. Because he's just being himself tbh, nothing he does is particularly special or different to him. He's just him! Sure some might think it weird, but that's because they're not used to him. But collin is, he should be anyways. They were teammates on the cavs before. Collin seems to think about that more positively than jordan..

There was an interview of Jordan's trade from the cavs and kpj was very business about it but collin was more emotional. Kept on commenting about how great jordan is not only as a player but as a person. 'He always played some music, always danced, had a good time'

I think hmmm collin is one of those super athletes who's a super athlete because they're not well-rounded. They're called a super athlete not only for being a great athlete, but an obsessive one. They spend more time practicing than not only a normal player would but even a varsity player. They put all their eggs in one basket when they Could put maybe just one into another but that would require a shift of focus and They Can't Have That. They're Obsessed. Even at like five or whatever age he was when he asked for an alarm clock for Christmas instead of a toy like most kids would, sexton was Obsessed. His nickname 'Young Bull' basically describes him to a T. He keeps working, he's a gym rat. He runs to the narrow red and doesn't stop.

Because hes tied to a scope, he's very interested in those beyond it who are literally just regular people but not to him. But because he's tied to such a scope, it's harder for him to relate and be related to. Maybe that's why he clings to clarkson? Clarkson is supposed to be 'the weird one'.. he wears unique fashion, styles himself uniquely, has big unique eyes. He's a unique person and player. He's rounded yet not bland. He's still Different but.. relatable? Collin likes that a lot. Wants that a lot. Secretly not so secretly.

But Collin is actually... a lot weirder than clarkson. Hate to phrase it that way but it's literally like... collin just admiring clarkson for being a normal human being. After his shows he loves to meet people in the crowd, even if they freak out. He isn’t really for the idolizing so he doesn’t know how to express his emotions too much on that.

• When he first learned about capitalism he realized it everywhere, like EVERYWHERE. That boy was pissed.
