Once a warden of the Grove, Louarn and her group were ambushed by the Nightmare Court while on a patrol through Caledon Forest. Her mind broken and twisted, she joined the Nightmare Court and became a member of Nafiona's Court of Hemlock. She has served Nafiona faithfully through the years and was responsible for leading the group through the deep jungles of Maguuma in search of a fabled second pale tree seed.

In February 2022 Gary Bowser, a member of the hacking operation Team Xecuter—a long-time target of Nintendo’s lawyers—was sentenced to 40 months in prison for his part in helping run a business that reportedly earned him over $300,000.

Thanks to a combination of time already served and good behaviour while in prison, however, Bowser is about to be released and sent home to Canada. On the eve of his departure—he’s awaiting transport to Toronto with a new passport—Bowser sat down for an interview with NickMoses 05 (thanks TorrentFreak) to discuss the events surrounding his imprisonment and impending freedom.

As I said at the time of his sentencing, while Bowser was guilty of a crime, and confessed this in front of a court of law, I still think it’s interesting—and important—to examine the details of his sentencing, which show the extent to which companies like Nintendo pursue these cases through the American legal system, and the severity of the punishments handed out.

While Bowser was convicted, served time in prison and is about to be released, his punishment isn’t over. In fact, he’ll be paying for his crimes for the rest of his life, because the damages he was ordered to pay Nintendo at the time of his sentencing—a total of $10 million—are so astronomical that he’ll likely never be able to make good on them.

Bowser says Nintendo can take 25-30% of his income for the rest of his working life. They began the process while he was still in prison; like many American inmates, Bowser was able to work a job (for what’s essentially spare change) while behind bars, and over the course of his time at the SeaTac Federal Detention Center in Washington he was able to pay back...$175.

Bowser was one of two men arrested in connection with Team Xecuter. While commonly referred to as a “hacker” in media reports he actually confessed to being the company’s “salesman”, and reportedly made $320,000 over seven years of work. The other, French citizen Max Louarn, allegedly the leader of the operation (a role he denies), has managed so far to avoid deportation to the US to face charges, though it’s believed he helped the company make millions over the course of its operation.

✏️ Do you write every day?

MAN, I WISH. Between an extremely draining full-time job, executive dysfunction, AND a chronic illness putting my daily fatigue rating at a 4, I don't have much energy left in me to write every day. I write scraps here and there, piecing them together with woven daydreams I have at work about my fics and projects.

🏅 What is something you recently felt proud of in regard to your writing (finished a fic, actually planned for once, etc).

There's this little moment here, from of Sages and Warriors, that's this really quiet, nice moment of intimacy and I'm really proud of it overall. I'm sure others would argue, but I sometimes feel really alienated from others and how to interact, so sometimes stumbling and capturing the feel of A Moment is nice for me.

🤔 What is the hardest part of writing fic?

So besides the obvious-for-me answer of action scenes (fighting, describing a character physically in prose, etc), I think the weirdest kind of hard I've found in fic is straddling the line, balancing canon, self-indulgence, and self-ness overall. This may just be because I'm a kind of nonbinary that isn't exactly easy to package for ease of consumption, but I struggle a lot with writing cis characters exactly as they were originally packaged. Like, I really like translating a character dynamic into different genders (not quite genderbending, but creating a representation-type I'd otherwise not get), but it's really scary to put that out there because I know intimately that it puts people off if things aren't exactly 1:1 canon (or aesthetically close to canon, for AU purposes: even if you dunk characters into a different setting for an AU, say regency or fairy tale, those characters will still be slotted into gendered expectations associated with that AU, even if their personalities would better be served by a different gender orientation or switching gender expectations around in said AU for the sake of the story being told).

I think a lot of it is that I'm tired of writing cis characters, but I know I'd actually get engagement if I did (this is something I've tested and found to be true). And that's hard for me to swallow.

💭 What is a headcanon you have about your own work?

Hmmm...I haven't cemented this in my head, but I think Felicette used to have a *taps microphone, looking into the metaphorical camera* little white-and-orange fox stuffie as a child.

Before her mom died, she was associated with foxes a lot (to the point where, when the two weren't around Gabriel, Emilie would call Felicette her "little louarn" [louarn being fox in Breton]). That part of Felicette died with her mom and she's in an odd transition period, where being associated with foxes reminds her of her loss, but she doesn't want to give that up for the world because it's such a strong symbol of the strong tie she had to her mom.

If she did have the stuffie, Gabriel's probably taken it away by now. Where it might be now (in the trash, destroyed, hoarded away in the clandestine mausoleum in the basement, etc) is anyone's guess.

Chaval (Yvan-Francis Le Louarn, 1915-1968)  est mort il y a déjà longtemps. Je ne vais pas utiliser le poncif habituel "ses dessins n'ont pas pris une ride", mais il y a beaucoup de ça. Il faut remonter à 2008 et l'exposition controversée de Bordeaux pour trouver Chaval en tête d'affiche.

Chaval ! Aujourd'hui un Keepsake, sans poésie, quoi que... Je suis content, j'ai retrouvé ce livre sur le bon coin, il était porté disparu depuis trop de temps de mes rayonnages - sans doute suite à un prêt sans retour. Chaval, de son vrai nom Yvan Francis Le Louarn, est un humoriste dessinateur des temps anciens et l'humanité lui doit entre autres choses des dessins tordus et tordants, le film d'animation "les oiseaux sont des cons", et la grande prévenance d'un mot, "attention risque d'explosion", accroché à la porte derrière laquelle il se suicida au gaz. Ceux qui me suivent depuis un moment vont probablement déceler dans le petit texte que je vais tâcher de vous lire, tout ce que j'aimerais devoir à ce monsieur :

3. Présentation de Radio Activ'

            Radio Activ’ a été créée en 1997 par des étudiants et émettait de façon temporaire.

            Suite à l’avis favorable du Conseil Supérieur de l’Audiovisuel (CSA) rendu en octobre 2006, elle est entrée dans le paysage radiophonique du Pays de Saint-Brieuc en juillet 2007 et émet depuis de façon permanente sur la fréquence 101.9 FM.

            C’est une radio locale associative qui fait partie de la Ferarock (Fédération des Radios Associatives Musiques Actuelles), une association qui regroupe des radios ayant pour but de diffuser de la musique actuelle émergente ou peu exposée sur les radios nationales et commerciales.

            Elle a également pour but de rendre compte de l’actualité locale et des événements et concerts locaux, ainsi que de donner la parole aux citoyens.

            Les principaux objectifs de cette période de stage étaient de découvrir le fonctionnement de la radio et de faire du montage audio.

Les salariés

            David MORVAN : coordinateur d’antenne, c’est par lui que passent toutes les émissions. Il est également technicien : il s’occupe de toute la technique ainsi que la partie informatique (programmation).

            Marc MITHOUARD : animateur et programmateur musical. Il anime deux émissions quotidiennes : Midi à l’Ouest et Activ’ Yourself à 18h. Il anime également quelques émissions hebdomadaires, comme Studio Roots le mardi, ou Disgression le lundi. Il fait partie de la radio depuis 2005, mais il est salarié seulement depuis 2014.

            Sindy LE LOUARNE : secrétaire, elle s’occupe de toute la partie administrative. Elle est aussi animatrice de la quotidienne Wake Up.

Gonna blurb a tiny bit about Nafiona’s branch of the Nightmare Court...

After being annoited as a duchess of the court, Nafiona set out to create her own branch which she named the Court of Hemlock. Notable members of her court were/are:

Ordhram the Corrupted: A larger than normal sylvari with a brutish attitude. He was partially transformed into a mordrem when Mordremoth awakened. 

Orla the Viper: A sylvari thief that considers Ordhram her brother since they were born at the same time. Left the Court with the help of Amaranda and is now “tainted”

Caelan the Blade: A young sylvari who joined Nafiona’s court on the belief that sylvari should think for themselves, and not guided by Ventari’s tablet. he doesn’t truly believe in Nafiona’s dark ways. Nearly killed by Nafiona, but saved by Mender Seoras. Removed from the Court and is currently “tainted”

Sila the Spellbinding: A sylvari mesmer. Usually working in unison with her twin Oonagh. Is often quite chatty. 

Oonagh the Enchanting: Sylvari mesmer and twin sister to Sila. Where Sila is talkative, Oonagh is quiet. 

Louarn the Stinger: Sylvari ranger with uncanny tracking abilities. She and her nightmare hound Nyx helped lead Nafiona through the jungle of Maguuma while searching for the seed.
