somehow in a span of three seconds, now he’s spooning you, hugging you while saying,

“oh, my love! i knew you couldn’t stay mad at me for too long〜 oh how much i’ve missed you♡”

akaza is aware of where this all went wrong, but in his brain (if demons have one atp) he just tried to help.

today was just not the day for you.

maybe someone was being annoying, you lost a fight, woke up on the wrong side of the bed, who knows.

whatever happened, akaza was determined to fix it, because he only wants his lover to be happy!

but… you just wanted to be alone. sometimes alone time is all you need〜

but akaza kept bringing you things you like, kept staying near you, and kept asking if everything was alright♡

you accepted his kindness and offers, but you genuinely just wanted to be alone to recharge, but your lover being persistent as he is only made you feel more annoyed.

in due time, you end up vaguely telling off akaza for “pestering” you and how you just had a awful day.

he stands there, with a blanket and pillow in his hand, not saying a word as you walk off to bed… and he follows you.

he tucks both of you to bed, and you both lay there facing opposite ways.

you lay there, thinking over your day. you shortly realize that akaza was there for you even at your lowest, but you didn’t see it because you were already upset.

you turn around, and swiftly spoon the “sleeping” akaza, holding his hand〜

he lets out a little chuckle and caresses your hand to tell you,

“i’m sorry for ruining your day even further. but i’m glad to be here for you now. sometimes just a hug is all you need, my love.”

Heya Rebel! You probably don't remember me but I'm the anon who previously asked if i could write fanfiction about V! Wukong since i think his world is an interesting concept y'know? This one is incomplete and a work in progress but i still would like to know what you think!

Chapter 1: Regret

No... Nonononono- no! NO-

What has he done?!

No... This wasn't supposed to end like this...

Wukong dropped his staff, the very same one he used to shake the heavens and hell and make the battlefield red. He used this staff to bash his enemies and leave their corpses to rot.

The same staff he used to strike his beloved, the same staff he used to inflict pain on the one he swore to himself he would never hurt.

"Macaque... No- no, please..." Wukong did not hesitate to cradle Macaque's body, gently trying to wake him up by shaking him. Wukong didn't mean to do this! (Why did he bring down his staff with such brutal force?)

They were supposed to have their happy ending, basking in the warmth of the sun and eating peaches for eternity! This- he didn't mean to do this...

”Moonlight...? Come on, wake up! This- this isn't funny!” Wukong frantically shakes the dark-furred monkey's body, he doesn't pay attention to the pool of blood oozing out of the limp monkey. (Gods— there was so much blood...)

”Monkey... ” Wukong can hear his master's words, filled with disappointment and remorse. (He couldn't bother to care less about the world around him, his world is d34D—)

"Older brother... ” He could hear the calls from his friends, he could already tell that their expressions would be one of bewilderment and confusion, after all, he wasn't like this towards all of the other enemies that he had fought before. (T̶h̶a̶t̶'s̶ b̶e̶c̶a̶u̶s̶e̶ h̶i̶s̶ m̶o̶o̶n̶ w̶a̶s̶n̶'t̶ a̶n̶ e̶n̶e̶m̶y̶, M̶i̶h̶o̶u̶ w̶a̶s̶ n̶e̶v̶e̶r̶ h̶i̶s̶ e̶n̶e̶m̶y̶.)

Wukong felt numb, his hands shaking as his eyes focused only on his (dead— blood— so os much bLo OD—) friend's body.

His ears... Oh god, his ears weren't moving in the slightest— Mihou's ears were always moving, Even if it was just a twitch, it would never be so still... He has never seen Macaque's ears so still before...

He hates it...

Mihou's ears should always be moving...

Where is his moon? Why isn't he getting up?

”—Wukong... Get... Move on....”

”Monkey- help...- dead....”

”No use- move on... Come on-”

How dare they? How dare they say to move on and ignore his beloved moon?! His poor, loyal, and sweet moonlight...

”Wukong please-” The dragon's hands hovered over the monkey's shoulders, their expression showed kindness and pity for the king.

The king, not registering anything, only the bloodied corpse in front of him slapped the hand away. Ignoring whatever expressions were on (his friend—) dragon's face, all he could see was the sunrise casting a soft ember on the corpse. Creating a glow as the air was bittersweet and filled with tension, the sound of cries shook the mountains and the earth. Even heaven heard of it all.

The monk, the dragon, the pig, and the fish all tried to comfort the monkey, but they were ignored. Their words were muffled by the sound of the sage's despair, his sobs that affected the world around him.

Wukong didn't notice the world around him, his hands gripped the bloodied corpse, begging for the heavens, pleading for Diyu not to take his beloved, and asking the universe once more.

(The sound of his darling's laughter echoed through his mind, soft giggles and the image of one's ears fluttering and flapping clouded the king's head.)

Oh, how his beloved Lotus flower had waited for him for centuries. His Moon, acting like both a queen and a warrior, defended his mountain from harm in his absence.

Mihou, his dearest who makes the cutest chirps, who makes his day simply by existing and giving his famous shy smile. His powerful warrior could be most sweetest, gentlest monkey who took care of the little ones and yet could also turn into one of the most dangerous and horrifying fighter he had ever seen. Stubbornly getting back up and fighting 'till his last breath.

”Please- brother we have to go!” Another voice snapped Wukong back into the harsh world known as reality, his eyes dilating as he stared at his beloved's corpse once more. He could not bother to reply or open his mouth, nor move an inch.

I couldn't help but be reminded of this post @antidotefortheawkward made some time ago regarding the zhuhou vs. jiankong debate in the "you vs. the guy he tells you not to worry about" format which you can view here:

And while I do find Zhu Bajie's plight in this pretty funny, it does pay to remember that he has the very real comfort of knowing that no matter what at least he has the major advantage of "didn't try to murder Sun Wukong while he was begging me to find a different solution to our differences" and "didn't firebomb Mt. Huagoushan."

That said, as always mad respect to the jiankongers for from what I understand having the common understanding that Sun Wukong and Erlang Shen couldn't really be anything but bitter exes at best after the burning of the Monkey King's beloved home. We love it when both sides of a ship get to hate each other for legitimate reasons <3.

Also & along those lines, and while I don't know if this is true for sure, I also find it pretty neat and really funny that Lotus Lantern retellings may have been the first spark to inspire what is now at least a couple of stories of Zhu Bajie and Sun Wukong taking care of children together. Jokes about Erlang Shen and the Monkey King getting into a custody battle over Liu Chenxiang are evergreen, but throw Zhu Bajie into the mix and it really becomes this incredible drama of "my ex bestie and his new bestie gang up against me & win guardianship over my nephew who hates me for unrelated reasons (don't worry about it)."

You do have to feel a bit bad for Erlang Shen though...with Xiyouji, Lotus Lantern and that story about him marrying and soon after separating from a dragon princess who was apparently pretty abusive, he really is among his other titles like the most divorced god ever lol.

Lets say the dragons are having a particularly bad day and are down in the dumps... What do they do to cheer up? Do they play around, write stuff down, smash some clay stuff? I must know - 🦎 anon

Pitaya dragon cookie.

. This dragon has a raging temper, they get mad very easily and snap into fiery blaze when the right buttons are pushed. They usually go on a destroying things spree to calm down but there are a few other things that can calm them. Offering to spar with Pitaya will help give them an outlet to let their rage out, but also giving them offerings of things they like such as berry juice will help calm that temper.

Ananas dragon cookie.

. When Ananas flies off the handle they usually throw a tantrum of sorts, stomp around, roar, or act on what’s caused that anger. When it comes to calming themselves down, they either treat themselves to a bath and the finest of fruits to snack on or they take a long flight around the island to ease themselves back into a calmer mood. Offerings of gold also work.

Lotus dragon cookie.

. Lotus is near always calm, it’s very rare for them to be angry or upset but when they are they have a few simple solutions. First, they get rid of the source of their negative emotions, second, they’ll spend some time in their chamber’s pond with tea and play music on their beloved mandolin.

Lychee dragon cookie.

. This kid throws a huge tantrum when they’re upset, they can’t stand things not going their way, so they just need to vent their emotions in order to get it all out. Secretly, they like turning into Mangosteen so they can go play in the village with Rambutan cookie, that also calms them down.

Longan dragon cookie.

. Similar to Lotus they don’t get angry, upset, down, or even emote easily, calm and collected. When they do get angry, they barely even show it. First things first they get rid of the source of the anger, afterwards they take some time to themselves to calm down and even their mood. They do greatly enjoy spending time in the palace garden.

Omg yes!!!! Though the loss stings, it was worth it because he ended up meeting you and that is a huge win in his eyes. He definitely has his arm around you or he holds your hand as the two of you walk side by side with Azul, Malleus, and Idia following behind. Rollo is a very good tour guide, but the trio can’t exactly pay attention when they keep noticing just how in love you and Rollo act. I would’ve made an actual diagram but I just... Didn’t feel like it atm, I’ve been pretty tired all day. Also the colour coordination is just for funsies and to sorta differentiate.

So first and foremost, we have Jin Hua (wifey's mom who passed during childbirth), and then we have Huang Xing (wifey's dad who passed when they were twelve). There is also our absolute beloved Li Lei who was helping raise wifey as they grew up, and then fully took them under her wing after dad passed away.

Wifey and Zhongli are self explanatory

Children birth order + mini descriptions (sorta, most of them are personal interpretation, but all of them have amber/gold eyes and are around or just under six feet tall)

Yánjiāng: P much looks like Zhongli except he doesn’t have the ponytail

Lihua: Also looks very similar to Zhongli, VERY long hair in a half updo with a lotus hairpin, she’s also trans

Zhusha: She pretty much looks like however you think reader looks

Yaling and Feng (twins): Also look very similar to reader but with subtle differences, Yaling has glasses and she is shorter despite Feng being the younger twin

I don’t go into specifics on grandkids or the spouses of the children because that’s a lot of babies and names (why did I do this) but: Yánjiāng has three kids and one grandchild, Lihua has adopted three children, Zhusha has none, Yaling has one child, and Feng has two children (Heng and Mei, the two kids in the mooncake scene)
