Loen: Snownight Hawk
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Designer’s Reflection: Snownight Hawk
Obtained: Chapter 3 Workshop
Rarity: SR
Attribute: Blue/Cool
Awakened Suit: Dawning Promise
Story - transcripts from Designer’s Reflection
Chapter 1 - Lament of Autumn Mist
Chapter 2 - Horn of Winter
Chapter 3 - Dawn of Faith
Story - summarized
Loen is with the other citizens of Westburg at the train station. Finally, the train rolls in with updates about the independence war. He also receives a letter from his father, who is a general in the war. Loen is shocked to hear that his cousin, Snownight White, died on the battlefield.
He remembers six months ago. She was happy and willing to fight for a free Apple. She comforted her little sister, Reddish, and her parents before hopping on the soldiers’ train. Mr. White found Loen and begged for answers: why was the war still going on? Could they stop it? How do they bring their children back?
A crowd surrounded Loen and his Uncle White, also wanting answers. Loen wanted to help, but he had nothing to offer them. Someone spotted a person in the crowd, a young man named Josen, who was supposed to be fighting in the army. He had deserted the military and fled back home.
Back in the present, Loen figures out what to do. He finds the conductor of the army train in the station. He reminds the conductor that every citizen is supposed to be evacuated, since the war is approaching the cities. The conductor agrees to take the people of Westburg to Losol City, where they will board a train for Cloud Empire.
Reddish still wants her sister, but she has no idea of what happened. Loen comforts his cousin, uncle, and aunt, and he tells Reddish about the beautiful flowers in Cloud Empire. He says that Snownight would want to see them, too. Finally, Reddish agrees to go. Before the family departs, Uncle White gives Loen the last item of Snownight: a bullet. He takes it with him for good luck and then hurries onto the train heading for the battlefield.
Connections
-Loen and Vermillion Snow are cousins. The last chapter of this Reflection is the flashback Vermillion has during the Reflection for Flowery Silhouette.
-In Chapter 3, even though Susan is inspired by Major Snowhawk, Loen doesn’t like talking about his war days and even tries to dodge those questions. Here, you learn that he had to fight since he was young and it changed him forever.
Fun Facts
-Vermillion’s birth name is Reddish, and Loen says that Cloud Empire has red flowers, “just like your name.” In the Taiwanese/Chinese version, her name translates to “red flower.”
- Major Snowhawk is Loen’s war nickname. It’s a nod to Snownight, who inspired Loen not just to fight in the war, but also to fight for a better future.
-Snownight calls Loen “Brother Loen.” It’s a term of endearment to call close family “Brother-[name]” or “Sister-[name].”

Sometimes I think about Losol people.
They're just living their life in a city where there is the most famous black market, people probably sell drugs and you cannot trust doctors because they will do everything in order to have your soul or use you as a specimen.
But they just look through the window with a small cup of tea thinking "sigh, what a wonderful day"

Around the World Guide
How to unlock and get the backgrounds from the Around the World feature!
Tumblr media
So far the only Kingdom Open is Cloud Empire and Apple Federation. Pick one! The Kingdom you have selected will allow you to unlock backgrounds as you travel.
Tumblr media
This is the Map for the Cloud Empire! If you change your mind last minute, you can just clip the tabs on the top to switch to another Kingdom! Apple Federation is on the left of Cloud.
Tumblr media
This is the Map for Apple Federation. The city of Losol just opened!
Tumblr media
Cities I recommend would be Lor River City from Cloud Empire or Wheat Field from Apple Federation. However since there are 7 cities open to us, it doesn’t matter which city you choose because they all have at least 2-3 backgrounds for you to unlock and begin collecting!
Once you have chose a city, you will not be able to leave within 2 days. However if you stay in the city throughout the six days, you should be able to unlock all the backgrounds from that city.
Tumblr media
So now that you have picked a city, the top will tell you how long you have at that city.
Travel Dream: will display the backgrounds you can unlock.
Travel Style: you can dress up and take pictures at said city background and save them in your Diary and keep in your Memory (similar to a scrapbook)
To start, click Choose Spot
Tumblr media
Then click Wander About, to save your diamonds! Site Tickets are 20 diamonds to choose a specific location. This feature randomly takes you to a place and unlock a background (if you don’t have it unlocked).
Underneath it, are potential backgrounds you can collect at the selected city. If you pick, Wander About then you don’t need to spend any diamonds!
Tumblr media
Once you click Wander About, it should help you unlock your first background (if you don’t have any unlocked). If you have backgrounds unlock, choose which background you want to work on first.
The Progress bar will let you know long you have left until you can collect the background.
Tumblr media
If you see a Locked background, click on it and it will tell you which city you can unlock that background from.
For Example, down here: Trigger events in Losol-Clinic No.6 1 times. Losol City is in Apple Federation. You would need to go to Apple Federation and pick Losol City. Wander Around until this background locks for you.
Tumblr media
Now you might have some backgrounds like this one.
You need to Wander Around Wheat Field + Own 5 backgrounds to be able to collect for this background!
Tumblr media
This one, I already unlocked this background from Lor River City but I haven’t finished collecting 3 backgrounds, it won’t unlock for me.

a heart more loyal
Whoever finds this, please know: I was a knight, once, and the land had not known a heart more loyal.
My friend (I hope I am allowed to call you so, for your hands will soon grant me the greatest gift), I know the purpose of your visit. I know what is coming, but I cannot find fear within me. My hand writes these lines as steadily as always, and the quill shivers, its trusty iron end almost dulled down. It has followed me through victories and failures. It has written my story in orders and signatures under the death sentences. I never cared to leave another memoir, for I never desired fame – and I do not desire it now. Please, read carefully, as it is a will; and even the worst of the worst are allowed a death wish.
I was a knight, once. You do not know my name, yet I had one, and it was spoken with respect. I never desired fame, but it followed me like a loyal dog: it slept by my bed and licked my hands. I was among best of the best. I dined with kings and made friends with jesters. People and beasts alike feared the cry of my horn. I had a bleeding heart, you see, easily driven to sympathy. Never did I ignore a reaching hand, a cry for help; never did I pass a battle, either.
I entered maturity under the welcoming glow of my lucky star. I did not know strife past what a heart may bear, nor did anguish touch my soul in times of struggle. Respected by most, loved by many, I basked in peace; and I knew that, should the age make my limbs leaden and my eyes weak, I would spend the rest of my days as a relic of a troubled past, amusing my children and grandchildren with the tales of my glory. No regrets, no shame would follow me into the old age. Perhaps at times I would glance at my armor, still shiny but abandoned, and feel a rush of blood, a useless quickening of the heart longing for another battle; but the pain would be soothed, and hollowness filled, by the warmth of my loving home.
I was a knight once, but the armor and the shield are no more. They were never displayed with pride, telling many a tale of courage and victory. Instead, forgotten, they rusted away. The dust under your feet may as well be the sad remnants of their shine. I took a piece of my broken sword and forged it into the iron tip for my quill, and it remained just as deadly as when it had been glistening at my hilt. The feasts and fights of my glorious youth are but a bleak memory. They thundered away and fell silent, only a distant echo still ringing in the vacant halls; and not a soul is left to listen.
My dear friend, I know the surprise you must feel. Now you must be looking with anger and confusion at the results of my toll: the dark towers of my castle, the blood-soaked fields of the land I once called mine, the rising smoke that threatens to overcome the heavens above. I am a beast among beasts, a plight among plights, a demon among men. In a dark fortress I sit, ruling over my domain with iron and fire, and not a heart may turn to me in sympathy; no lips may utter my name without disgust.
If I truly was a knight, you must say, what could have brought such a descent? What made me turn away from worldly pleasures and seek satiation in pain and suffering? Had it been a bitter love, a broken heart? Had it been revenge against a mightier foe? Had a friend betrayed me in times of need, or a liege robbed me of what was rightfully mine?
No, my friend, none of these were the reason of my fall from grace. My love stayed faithful, my friends loyal, my patrons generous; and no foe was mightier than the hand that brought them down. No, there is no need to seek the root in other places, for me myself was the reason.
Perchance you have heard of the old fairy king of the Losol forest. Know that it was my sword that brought him down, and my dagger that drew the last drops of blood from his stilling heart. Yet the old beast did not die at once, for the other folk does not live as we do; and, before his eyes closed to the daylight once and for all, he managed to utter a curse; and what curse!
I was born under a lucky star, but I did not know that its light was to shine no more. I took his crown from him, and it turned to useless twigs in my hands; I took his gold, and it turned to leaves. Oh, it was a dreary day when the fairy king cursed me. Ever before, he said, my life was a blessing; now it was to be torture. Ever before my every wish would come true; now, the curse would twist my fate and give me the opposite of what I sincerely desired. I took his life, he said, and so I was to live no more.
I was reckless, young; I did not believe the dying beast. Yet, since that dreadful day, my victories turned sour, my gains bitter. The kindness of my heart turned poisonous. When I desired peace, war would break out; when I wished for love, animosity would slither in. My old friends were thrown into poverty and grief, and their wails rang clear over the ashes. I wanted my loved ones to feast and celebrate; instead, a different feast was prepared for them, and only vultures attended. My home was broken, my beloved land in disarray. Oh, how many times I cursed my pitiful existence! Not even the fairy king could hate me more, dying, than I did still alive.
In vain, I tried to break the chain that fettered me. I turned to magicians, old wizards, witches who dabble in light and darkness both; but none of them could vanquish the curse that was sealed with a dying breath. The more I wished it gone, the stronger it remained. I despaired, I fought, but all for nothing. In the dead of the night, I could hear the voice of the dead fairy king; he laughed, he rejoiced in my pain!
Thus, I had only one way left; and I forged salvation from misery.
I taught myself to hate, to despise everything good and light; I learned fury, I planted seeds of darkness within my soul. Oh, how it ached, how it resisted! – but I was just as relentless with myself as I used to be with my worst enemies. I gave myself every repulsive habit, every deep and twisted desire that I knew in those dead by my hand. I fled from company. I threw curses at those approaching me until I was shunned from everywhere. I looked upon my past friends and lovers with repulsion; I kept reminding myself of every bit of luck they had until envy burned out love. I tore away my heart and replaced it with bronze. I weeded out every sprout of sympathy. I ached for love and friendship to blossom, so I denied myself both and bore the torture of seeing my familiars prosper. What a miserable, pitiful creature I was!
Yet I was not done; for my love brought endless destruction that my hatred could not so easily correct.
I sought souls as dark as mine; I found unity in them. I sowed the hatred and fed on the harvest. They were naturally repulsive; tender from birth, I had to learn their ways; and experience overcame nature. They obeyed me easily. Dirt commanded dirt, and the disease spread. I was repulsed; I gained respect. I wished them ill; they prospered. Knowing the art of battle, I gave them much and promised them more, and my troops brought me victory after bitter victory.
I ached for peace, so I commanded war.
How my soul grieved! – for every soul grieves its own death. I dissected it, replacing its very nature, and the seams never healed. Yet I was getting used to my misery. I delighted in things most unholy; what should have brought anguish, made me laugh. I ordered this fortress built, and from its heart I sent away the doves of fake treaties and ravens of attacks. I spilt blood to obtain and burned the spoils. I learned the art of magic, and the terror of my reign grew stronger. Even my very servants learned to fear me, for the darkness of my soul overshadowed theirs.
Yet I was not done.
I ordered every story about my knightly days burned; I took down memorials; I tore away pages. I threw my very name into the waters of oblivion and watched it sink. Who would suspect that such a grisly figure had known days of camaraderie, of love and fame? The knight was gone; only the king remained.
Even so, after all these years, my soul ached. Sometimes, after a day of dark madness, I would see a single ray of light come through the heavy clouds and weep; useless, empty tears! – like the rotten and disgusting ichor seeping from a fevered wound. I wished for love and respect; I obtained hatred and repulsion. I wished for salvation; I saw the entire land unite against me. I saw heroes rise to strike me down, the cries of their horns making my heart stir. Their steeds trampled my burned fields, their swords stroke down my armies. Young hearts, reckless hearts; I cursed every one of them, knowing that my curses will never come true. I wanted to take them down; now I see my armies broken, my fortress besieged. You must be one of them, my friend. I heard your horn at the gate; I must hurry.
For, as you see, lately I tried very hard to wish for life.
I spent hours upon hours, seeking enjoyment in my existence, thinking of the smallest blessings, the bleakest gifts; and now I want to keep living more than ever. Just as a single ray of sunlight finds its way through the storm clouds and lights the silenced battlefield, the sunset of my life is lit up with sublime clarity. I know that, with my death, this land will finally enjoy peace and happiness. My heart trembles with bitter bliss. Please, hurry, my trusted quill, for I will be needing you no more; you have served me well, you may lay to rest. Please, hurry, my friend; let your sword be as sharp as mine was when it cut down the fairy king, and let your luck be mightier. Don’t hesitate; deliver the greatest gift you could have given me; I am here, I am waiting.
My friend, if I may ask for a single favor: erase all my victories, all my bloody gains. Take down my kingdom, destroy my fortress, don’t leave a sign of anything that misery constructed; let dust and grass cover the battlefields; let rust eat away the obsolete swords. Oblivion is the highest reward I could ask for; let the terrors and fire wash away as a heavy dream before the dawn.
Farewell, my friend! My heart aches for rest; please, bury it in the ground of my beloved, hated, tortured land.
I served it well, and it had never known a heart more loyal.

Chapter 3: Dawn of Faith
Narrated by Loen.
Narrator: After I walk Uncle White home, I return to the station.
Narrator: Having asked the soldier on duty, I find the conductor of an army train in the tavern next to the station.
Loen: Conductor, a word?
Narrator: The conductor glances at me and continues to drink.
Conductor: Kid, why do you bother to find me instead of going to school?
Loen: I know the train on the opposite platform is heading north. So can you let people on the train?
Loen: Losol City is where they get off.
Conductor: Huh? Come again?
Conductor: Hahahaha, just what was this pipsqueak saying?
Narrator: There’s a burst of laughter in the tavern and everyone looks over.
Conductor: Are you a dull Jack? Civilians are not allowed on an army train. Beat it.
Narrator: He waves the bottle and tries to push me away.
Narrator: I manage to dodge his bottle.
Loen: The army regulations say to facilitate the evacuation of civilians. Have you forgotten that?
Conductor: You twerp!
Narrator: He gets a little irritated and glares at me fiercely.
Narrator: Having grown up with my father in the Revolutionary Army, I know too well that I must not back down at the moment.
Loen: This is the order that has reached each station three months ago. You must know that.
Conductor: ...
Conductor: It’s a special time, and no one’s there to do the check-up for safety’s sake, got it?
Conductor: Then get off my face. Or I’m gonna put you in the nick!
Loen: Sir, I volunteer to do the check-up and headcount.
Narrator: I stand at attention and look into his eyes seriously.
Narrator: The conductor measures me carefully and remains silent for a moment.
Loen: I can do it well. Please leave it to me.
Conductor: Tsk, alright... You do that. If there’s a problem with the final list, everyone gets off, are we clear?
Loen: Yes, sir.
Narrator: I thank him, then quickly take off to inform the townspeople and prepare the list.
Narrator: At noon the next day, the townspeople’s evacuation goes as planned.
Loen: Hold up, you’re not on the list.
Passerby: ...Yes, I am. Take a closer look... I... I’ll excuse myself.
Narrator: I stop him.
Loen: I remembered. Your name’s Josen? You should be on the train in the opposite direction.
Conductor: Loen, what’s wrong?
Narrator: The conductor shouts from afar to check the situation.
Narrator: Josen gives me a fierce look and quickly runs off the platform.
Choose either “You seem to have his grudge” or “Where will he go?”
If “grudge,” ...
You: You seem to have his grudge.
Narrator: Well, I guess. Isn’t it a little too bad?
You: Your face doesn’t look like that...
If “go,” ...
You: What does he want? Where will he go?
Narrator: Maybe he doesn’t know it himself either.
--
Narrator: The train is about to depart, and I’m checking everyone’s name and luggage for the last time.
Loen: After you get off at Losol City, you buy a train ticket to Cloud Empire.
Herder: So we’re gonna abandon Westburg like that? What does the future hold?
Loen: The war will end. When that day comes, we return. Westburg will always be our home.
Reddish: When will big sister come back? Dad, now we’re gone, what if big sister can’t find us when she returns?
Narrator: Uncle White’s eyes somewhat reddened, not knowing what to say.
Loen: Reddish, look what this is.
Narrator: I reach out and hand over a red cypress vine flower.
Reddish: Brother Loen...
Loen: The train is leaving for a beautiful place, where there are a lot of pretty flowers, just like your name.
Loen: Your sister Snownight will like it, too. Don’t you want to see it?
Reddish: I do...
Loen: It’s a long, long journey. You have to take care of mom and dad, okay?
Narrator: She nods, ignorant. I tuck the flower onto the ear of Reddish and smile at her.
Narrator: I finally glance at the carriage and remember in my heart every face that trusts me.
Loen: The past six months, thank you for everything you’ve done for me.
Loen: About the questions yesterday, I cannot answer them right now.
Loen: But one day, I will.
Narrator: Heels together, chest out, I give a salute to everyone, turn around, and get off.
Uncle White: Loen! Where are you going?
Narrator: I look at Uncle White.
Loen: Where the answers are.
Uncle White: ...You, you’ve grown up.
Narrator: Uncle White pulls out something from his chest, reaches out, and hands it to me.
Narrator: I spread out my palm and take the parting gift.
Narrator: Hard and sharp, it’s now resting in my palm with smoke of gunpowder and faith tens of thousands of miles away.
Narrator: I clench the bullet firmly.
Uncle White: Be sure to come back!
Narrator: I put my hand on my chest and smile at Uncle White.
Narrator: Then I turn around, get through the platform, and walk towards the conscription train bound for the battlefield.
Narrator: The conductor leans against the door with a cigarette, apparently having been waiting here long ago.
Conductor: Shrimp, you don’t look like you can go to war.
Loen: I can! I can use a gun!
Choose either “How old are you?” or “You, joining the army?”
If “old,” ...
You: How old are you? That’s the battlefront!
Narrator: But I’m ready. Don’t you believe it?
You: I can feel the faith and determination you’ve put into it.
If “army,” ...
You: You’re going to join the army? Is that really good?
Narrator: This is something I have to do.
--
Conductor: Tss, small fries.
Loen: I am willing to fight for independence.
Narrator: In the winter of war, I want to go to the front with the faith of independence.
Narrator: The conductor glances at me and throws a gun.
Narrator: I reach for it, unload the magazine, and load the bullet of Snownight in the innermost chamber.
Conductor: ...Good. Let’s go.
Narrator: Cigarette butt pinched off, the conductor pats me on the head and moves to the carriage.
Loen: Yes, sir.
Narrator: I hop on the train and the whistle sounds.
Narrator: The sun falls on the wind and passes through the carriages.
Narrator: I know that what’s on my mind is not a moment of impulse.
Narrator: The call of the country does not come from anywhere. It comes from within.
Narrator: I set off with questions and faith, and I’m sure I will come back with answers and dawn.

1 Invisible Blade
Shade: Hey! Who are you, and what business do you have here?
I: I...I’m sorry to be late...
Shade: Are you also part of our expedition?
I: Yes!
Shade: You really are late...
Shade: Being late by even a second can be the difference between success and failure.
Shade: The Invisible Blade won’t belong to people like you.
I: Awaiting orders!
Shade: Our mission is to protect and escort the CEO of the Mercury Group to Losol City, and assist him in retrieving an important design material.
Shade: The CEO of the Apple Federation Apparel Group will also go to Losol City, and will be escorted by a team of specialists. Her goal is most likely to deter our mission.
Shade: I have no doubts about your skill, but the use of weapons is forbidden for this mission.
I: What? Why?
Shade: Because it is part of the conditions on the mission. Even without any weapon, none can stop the Invisible Blade.
Shade: Move out, and remain vigilant at all times.
