I think people ignore that dtk spends all of his time with former criminals Liz and Patty and has like zero parental supervision he acts super proper but I know in my heart of hearts they have done everything in their power to be bad influences on him and it worked. “He is polite” is such a blatant misreading of his character. he is actually rude on purpose because his sisters enjoy it and he does whatever they want. Patty taught kid every swear word under the sun within a month of knowing him because she thought it was funny and Liz was like ooohhhhg my god his dad who is literally the grim reaper is going to fucking kill us & then lord death just did not care because he lets kid get away with everything so she gave up on being a responsible older sibling and taught him how to threaten and intimidate people. Anything he does that seems cool is something that liz and patty taught him.

For Never Have I Ever: there was only one bed!

THANK YOOOU the last 3 or 4 times i posted one of these i didn't get a response you're a real g.

i have actually never written only one bed, unless you count "only two beds" playing a small but mighty role in the ot3 sleeping arrangements in @cambionverse, during which jesse turner, local antichrist who has spent 3 years in the wilderness running away from hunters because they traumatized him, winds up slipping into ben's bed (who is also a hunter) because there are only two beds, and the other bed is occupied by claire, who has a big flashing neon sign above her head that says NO TOUCHING EVER AND ALSO NO EMOTIONAL CLOSENESS EVER. anyway, ben and jesse wind up hooking up, surprise surprise (dean also once catches them snuggling in the back of ben's pickup, which he takes REALLY well and is super normal about), but then ben dies, and jesse misses sleeping beside someone, and claire misses the sound of ben breathing, so while on their journey to resurrect ben they ALSO begin to share a bed, and...? well. the fic is still being updated.

HOWEVER. if i were writing it properly, as in, the point of the fic, i can think of no better character to do this with than spock. (coin toss on whether or not the other bed sharer is jim or bones - normally i'd do both but i think it'd be hard to do THREE people in one bed.) in that one really racist episode we cannot get into rn spock is like "vulcans don't need sleep as much as humans" even though his ass is half-human, and he is also weird about his personal space. so if there was only one place to sleep and they had to share he would insist he was simply fine Not Sleeping (lie). and eventually his reaction times would slow, his thinking would get muddled...bonus points if it's cold or he's injured or some such thing that makes his resistance even more stupid. like, it's only logical to take the bed offered, mister spock. get your ass in there. snuggle. cuddle. canoodle, even. i think there would have to be something very specific he was afraid of or dreading besides simply the invasion of personal space that involved, ultimately, getting judged by whoever was in bed with him - dream transference? morning wood? trying to octopus his partner in their sleep because he secretly loves cuddling actually? and then that exact thing would have to happen except it would be fine because his bed partner would NOT judge him, the whole point of spock ships is he finally gets a space to be free of that constant criticism that's dogged him all his life. anyway, then spock and whoever would continue to share a bed regularly once they got back to their normal arrangements.

“Uh-huh. You’re doing the foot thing.”

Musa immediately stops the foot thing - tapping her left one from side to side on the edge of the carpet. But in the second it takes her brain to process she’s even doing it, Stella takes her hand in both of hers. Her gasp is less surprised and more akin to a ha! “And your hands are so cold!”

“Stella!”

The Solarian princess lets go before Musa can move, and promptly disappears out the door of the recording booth. “I’m just saying, hon.” Stella’s voice is fainter, but still clear. “This doesn’t seem like a very inspiring place for making music.”

“C’mon. Jason pulled a lot of strings to get me in here. If I can show these execs what I can do, it’ll be a huge push for my career.”

Through the glass, Musa watches her eyebrows knit together in distaste. “I still don’t like that guy. We’re fighting to protect the whole universe from the Black Circle, and he still thinks you need to prove something. That’s sleazy with a capital ick.”

Musa smiles lightly as Stella comes back into the booth, carrying a bright blue cardigan that she’d stuffed in her bag before they left. “I’m just saying,” Stella continues, draping the fabric over Musa’s shoulders. “You’re one of the most talented people I’ve ever met. And if someone tries to tell you otherwise, you direct them to me, okay?”

Some sort of magic charm is on the cardigan - there has to be, because the moment she slips her arms into it it feels like she’s next to a campfire on a summer night. Or backstage at Red Fountain, ready to put her future at Alfea on the line for the sake of singing. Stella had been there, too, doing the same doting, hovering routine. It was funny how little some things changed over the years. “Thanks for worrying about me, Stel. Really.”

“It’s not you I’m worried about, sweetie.” Stella leans forward and kisses her on the nose. “Now show ‘em what you got.”

2x15 of 4Kids Winx is one of the only times Stella goes all out with pet names with someone who isn’t Brandon and I’m here for it. I’m answering prompts for NaNo! Send me a number and a ship for a drabble.

But anyway. Back to it. Disclaimer, I haven’t read orv in the longest time, so bear with me.

Here is what I remember from the fun and exciting possible romance arc of Han Myungoh. He runs off after getting hit with Asmodeus's curse… and then 3 years later, we see him in the demon realm. As a demon. With a kid.

...You know, I squinted so hard at this that you've actually forced me to reread the chapter that explains this shit. Good job.

It turns out it is strikingly similar to the formulae that otome isekai and similar stories I read use. Let's, for the sake of convenience, call Han Myungoh 'FL' and Asmodeus 'ML'.

Our brave FL, after experiencing certain dealings with our ML, gets knocked up. She runs away, but in the process, gives birth to a child, who she loves with all her heart. But, at a certain point, she realizes she can no longer protect her child, so she turns to the only person who would have interest in doing the same thing: the other parent. Indeed, the other parent is interested in their child, and they form a contract: the FL is rewarded handsomely with status and protection in exchange for the child. The FL, in a weak position and having little other choice, accepts the contract, but resents it. She would do anything to get the child back, and does, in fact, do anything that the ML tells her to do, and...

And that's Han Myungoh. I fudged a little, but that's actually the canon plot for this guy in orv. I really didn't think much of this ship, but seriously, when I look at this way, it really does look like a standard otome isekai romance with a bastard male lead. I'm crying, this is hilarious. Is this what you saw, anon? This is so funny, I'm dying.

See, here's the thing, if this was an otome isekai, I could then tell you how this would go, which is this: while the FL resentfully does tasks for the ML, the ML grows to have a certain respect for the FL due to competence reasons, and the FL grows to appreciate ML for dispensing certain kindnesses (hey, stockholm syndrome!). Eventually, we get to a point where they're probably resentfully attracted to each other, but they both refuse to admit it, because FL still thinks ML is evil and ML thinks FL is beneath him. But then! But then something dramatic happens. Either FL's life or ML's life is threatened. Perhaps the child's life is threatened. Maybe all of the above. But anyway, there's some lifesaving going on, where FL/ML is so touched that the other saved them/had such concern for the child and then they declare their love for each other and then they officially get married and then it's a happily ever after and then I hurl my book across the room, probably.

I'm paraphrasing, there would probably be a bit more room between the lifesaving and getting married bit. Probably self awareness into the fact that they're in love and then an awkward "sorry I took your kid or whatever, let's go on a date" kind of dealio.

But I digress. Here's the thing. Here's the thing.

You could totally just write a canon divergence fic where everything I've just said happens, and it wouldn't even be hard. Sure, you'd have to nudge a few things over, but Han Myungoh does actually save Asmodeus's life once, even if is, you know, mostly related to Asmodeus being in his daughter's body, and Asmodeus briefly contemplates "is this what love is like?" or, you know, something like that. That actually does fit into the structure I've outlined above and I am banging my head onto my desk because of it.

“Signs” the difference between the situations is that Glimmer is a spoiled princess with a loving family and Catra is a child soldier who’s been abused her entire life.

Ofc Glimmer can admit she was wrong. She grew up in a loving home so she learned to admit when she was wrong. Her mom died which is traumatic but it can’t really compare with Catra’s situation. Their mental states are entirely different.

Catra leading up to the portal has been send to die and had been tortured by Shadow Weaver. She has never had a healthy way to deal with her trauma. She was suicidal.

hi !!!!!! i get so few asks these days so every time i get an ask i'm like for ME?????? 😊😊😊😊

i haven't listened to the artist friendly episode in full for a while but there are SO many little moments i adore from it. i really love hearing ashton talk about his artistic process as a whole, because i find he's so unbearably passionate about it, in a very sincere way. i always get this sense of authenticity from him that i feel doesn't really come across often with many other artists!

my first favourite part is obviously when he talks about his writing relationship with luke. of course, we know they write hit songs together (and like they are hit songs), but the fact that he describes it as a safe zone for him is so sweet. like it's very clear they're comfortable with one another, and hearing how deep their connection is, was just very nice. ashton's also talked about before how he "writes songs he thinks luke needs to hear" sometimes so, that's also incoherent screaming inducing cause wow their relationship is just so so so special.

second fave part was when ashton was talking about calum and their musical relationship! i think it's so heartbreakingly beautiful that he feels like he and calum are connected on a soul level, with their music. as a former band and choir kid, i feel like it's so so underrated how making music together and performing it just bonds you like no other, and there really is a language made between bandmates. it's also special with 5sos in particular because they are one of the only bands that sort of came up in their "scene" that pretty much equally share writing and singing duties. when they get into that "groove zone" or however ash described it, it feels different from other bands because it's like oh! this is all music that we created from start to finish together, and isn't that just beautiful

finally, i really love ashton's take on just being in the industry, as a growing artists and as a drummer in general. especially with more of an optimistic look upon it. he's said in interviews for superbloom, that before 2020, there was a really long time where he thought that his role as a drummer in the band was suffocating. something along the lines of "i'm going to sit behind this drum kit and drum until i die and that's all i'll really be". but now, he really views the band as a vessel of creativity and that it is open and flexible to his ideas and own projects. and it feels like he's adopted more of a role as a guiding force in the band, and a creative, and i just think that sort of growth is amazing !

I feel like I'm repeating myself here but your messages are all so SO lovely and I'm forever grateful for your kindness 💖 As for writing Aemond (or any character), I suggest reverse-engineering characters. In any piece of media you see him (the show, the book), look at what he does: what are his common traits, what kind of situations he often creates for himself or finds himself in, and look at how he reacts to them. Aemond is a bit unfortunate in this regard because he doesn't get as much attention and as many deep-dives into his psychology as the characters from the main ASOIAF saga get. Still, there's enough to go on. For example, our introduction to him signals a fundamental aspect about him: he's ferocious.

You'll have to keep this in mind at all times, even when you don't think his birth doesn't serve your immediate purpose (i.e. writing him in a romantic relationship). As you go through the story, try to think about this again and again. Is he giving the Strong Boys (tm) speech because he is the impulsive kind of fiery or is he the silent, methodical, grudging and vindictive sort of fiery? Did he claim Vhagar because he is easily angered and makes silly decisions or did he do it because he is intense? Let's see:

If you can add onto the crumbs of what little you're given, you'll start familiarizing yourself with him. You'll need to tear him apart and put him back together because you'll need the conclusions you will have reached when it comes to putting him in situations where he hasn't been in the source materials. And so, if you keep these crumbs in mind, even when you're writing him in circumstances where they're not immediately relevant to the context, you'll find that he'll have his own voice in your writing.

And, when it comes to placing him within your writing and within your designated circumstances, you will have already been peeking into his mind as second nature. You need that, because the most difficult habit to break when writing a fix-it or otherwise AU type of stories is forcing them into acting the way that you would like in all circumstances instead of making characters have the will of their own. Let him be angry, let him be rude, let him be scary, let things fall apart and then smash the pieces to dust, make it uncomfortable for him and everyone else. You know him by now from analyzing him, so you know he won't just swoop his lover up and fly into the sunset. You know he won't make a romantic speech like Romeo to Juliet in front of everyone. But you know he won't give up quietly, either. Make him fierce, intense, and intimidating. Let him make mistakes and suffer for them. It makes the climax all the more precious and everything feels much more organic. The rest is just drafting, editing, drafting again and editing until you lose your mind.

Okay so that one scene in the Collector?? Where creepy mask guy has the protag captured, and he makes a slit in protag's side, before taking a jar of these huge cockroaches (i think?) and he puts them right up to the wound in protag's side and aggravates them?? That was such an AWESOME scene and I'm honestly disappointed that the Collector got interrupted bc that shit would be horrific to watch in the BEST way possible

Okay so now I'm thinking about y. Mike making some typical teenage boy comment about the reaper's apperance, calling him maggot or lice or rat infected or whatever. And reaper Mike takes his sadistic revenge on this comment by doing the exact same thing the Collector did in the movie. Make a gaping wound in y. Mike's side, get a container of insects or rats or whatever, press the opening against the wound. Young Mike feeling every last one crawl inside him, feeling them biting and scratching against his muscle and organs, maybe you could even see them crawling under his skin like the Mummy before some of them bite their way through his skin.

And then it'd be funny if, in the next loop, Evan or Liz brought a bug/mouse in from the garden because they thought it was really cool and wanted to show their big brother, and Mike just. Ah. Let's say he doesn't react very well lmao.

(Also wanted to say sorry that I made you feel like you had to apologize for not warning me about the bugs in that movie. I genuinely don't need a warning for that kind of thing & was just making a joke; I wasn't hurt or badly affected by it at all. However, i have been relentlessly attacked by spiders and spider webs over the last few days and i totally blame you for it /j )

Yeeeeessssssssssssssss I love that bit. Oh, imagine if young Mike still feels like they're crawling around under his skin even when time resets and he can't. Stop. Itching! He struggles to resist the urge to scratch, but the phantom feeling of bugs crawling under his skin. He scratches his arms under the dining table, trying to hide it from his family, claws at his shoulders and neck, and tears into his side where that horrible squirmy feeling is worst. He keeps going long after his skin has turned red and shiny from the friction burns, until he's rubbed right through the layers of skin and draws blood. But that horrible itching won't go away.

Thought; let's say Mike actually does manage to hold off scratching himself too much... until Evan and Elizabeth show him their little critter. They're pretty scared when he first freaks out at the sight of it, but are downright horrified later when they find Mike with blood pouring down his arms, fingers still working at the wounds.

Also, you don't have anything to apologize for. Even though it wasn't a big deal to you, I still feel bad I didn't think to give you a heads up. Still, I'm glad you weren't badly affected and that you enjoyed the movie!

Among my ffxiv stuff I always love seeing comments on things that involve Stasia and Carly (which is mostly wips i know) as they are the ones that stray from the general story and aren't always likable so I like being able to see how they come across and make sure that its the way I intend to and think I'm doing when writing. A more specific piece it would have to be this piece with Anthea and the final days. I feel its one of my best works posted in completion and I like seeing how an event like that comes across to others especially given that much of that time period is up to interpretation of an individual.

👖 Are you a planner, plantser, or pantser? Is it consistent?

No planning we die like men! jk jk I am more of a plantser in that I go into a wip with a general idea in my head on what I want the main focus of a piece to be, the intention of it, and any specific lines or actions that inspired it. After that I just write it out and see what happens! A lot of times I get to where I was planning and in ways I didn't expect, other times I end up somewhere different but it felt so natural writing it that I had to leave it. There are the rare occasions I don't do any planning and just get the urge to write and so I do just that and will come back to it if I get stuck, this happened recently with a piece where I had very little in mind other than knowing Phobos is reading various letters Deimos got, but who they were from and what they said and going back home were all things that I came up with on the spot.

One thing I really let free and hardly put any thought into ahead of time is the formatting of my writing though. I like to at times be a bit of a visual writer in that I will use breaks, bolds, italics, lack of spaces, etc. to convey something that I probably would take too long to write out in any other fashion. Besides how else can I best describe racing thoughts and anxiety than putting a bunch of words together without any space between them haha.

Also will mention that much of my stuff looks like panster writing because I was writing it as I was actively playing the story so I had no idea how it was all going to end and what I wanted to do with my kids as Sib and Demos started in two different universes.

🧠 What’s an idea you have that you can’t quite call a WIP yet?

This would depend more on what you would call a wip. I tend to count anything that's at least a few paragraphs or dialogue long, which there's quite a bit of that. If we're talking just straight ideas then there's plenty of moments that I would love to write but I don't have a way to write them quite yet. Things like the last conversation Carly and Zenos have, the conversation Demos has with his mentor after the Vault, lighter moments like Sib trying to tackle Emet in ShB or the montages of the gang waking up at first light to get moving with a frantic Sib trying to catch up anime style getting ready. Hell the time that Deimos believed he could randomly tame a unicorn resulting in him, Emet, and Hyth being chased by a herd of them. Or the start of Etheirys' Worst Girls Trip with Sib and Stasia landing on their guide. I just have a lot of little things or big moments that I'd love to write because I can see them in my brain and how they play out but it can be so hard to translate that. I feel this is also why gposing has become a way for me to tackle these ideas as I plan as if I'm watching a show or movie so I can better get the angles and descriptions without having to actually describe anything haha.
