#lila and Klaus shouldn’t be in a car together

I love how in the beginning of the first season Klaus cons Diego into giving him rides place because he says he can’t drive.
Then proceeds to drive an ice cream in the later half of the first season and then drive regularly throughout season 2 and 3
The point I am trying to make is Klaus just wanted quality brother time with Diego and Diego is to much of a softie to say no to everyone’s favorite brother.

my thoughts on TUA season 2
(spoilers, obviously)
- opened with Klaus and Ben, my kings. Klaus’s hair looks so weird straightened while short
- AWESOME opening soundtrack
- seeing all their powers so controlled makes me wonder how they leveled up to that skill in the alternate timeline. like the only time we saw Klaus use the powers of other ghosts in the correct timeline was when two of them caught him falling out of the sky. however Diego did end up controlling bullets and Allison used her voice to technically kill one of the Swedes
- the homeless man screaming Allison’s name alongside Luther... funny shit
- big teddy bear Hazel
- Elliot was fucking awesome i think he was a great addition as a side character. rip tho :(
- honestly i don’t understand why Diego would WANT to save JFK. like it’s not that big of a deal. does he not understand what messing with the timeline can do??
- Lila... impeccable
- Sissy and Vanya... impeccable <3
- yeah and fuck u Carl
- ugh, Klaus’s beard. disgusting <3
- Ben and Klaus definitely act like they should be, given that they’ve been stuck with each other for over a decade. i’ve seen some people calling Klaus an asshole for not telling his siblings about Ben, which is completely understandable (cause he was an asshole), but I’m guessing it was because he was afraid? that sharing Ben with his siblings would mean that he would lose him to them, or his siblings would find him selfish, or they would ask something of him that he couldn’t give. if that makes sense
- that ghost bitch comment was funny tho
- to the guy who called Klaus pretty boy at the bar: sir you don’t know what you’re getting into
- Raymond!! he’s such a sweetheart, i really liked him in the show. i’m really happy that Allison has found a bit of normalcy (as normal as the 1960s Civil Rights movement could be). it shows how passionate she is about what she believes in: even though she knows the movement is far from over, even back in 2019, she’s not gonna abandon it
- Allison staring at the moon every night: either thinking about Luther or how the moon blows them all up. maybe both
- of course Luther would be working for Jack Ruby
- awesome cinematography during the mental asylum escape
- yeah it makes sense that the Handler would still be alive. she was a cool villain. although it would’ve been awesome to see how evil a fish could be
- Diego’s plan was pretty stupid. that’s my boy
- honestly they revealed how Klaus started a cult really well by having one of his followers find him at jail. Klaus, ever the musical aficionado, of course writes his scripture based off of pop songs
- Raymond and Klaus meeting!! that was cool to see how their paths connected
- Lila painting Elliot’s toenails green. ugh i love that crazy bitch
- i LOVE how they incorporated the umbrella man!! tbh i’ve always believed he was the one behind the assassination. Lee Harvey Oswald was framed
- honestly a bit understandable that Luther was planning on killing Vanya? cause he had no idea who she is now, but them reuniting was actually really sweet. he’s grown up so much
- the Swedes and their cats.
- the Umbrella company building with the nuclear family mannequins... creepy, awesome shit
- baby pogo baby pogo baby pogo baby pogo
- shanked diego shanked diego shanked diego shanked diego
- did anyone else get vibes from Klaus’s episode opening that he was an escort to the old woman? like how he was being shown off at her arm or something and getting out of jail from a call from the governor. idk maybe the lady was just very taken with him, as anyone would be
- Elliot, our helpful king
- Allison and Klaus’s reunion was so sweet!! i’m so glad they got to interact so much more in this season
- Ben getting Raymond out through a haunting... hilarious
- sweet intimate moment between Lila and Diego
- Ray meeting Luther was hilarious, but i do feel for the poor guy. i mean i’m not in love with my adoptive sister but still
- the sit-in was really well done and beautiful while terrible. the ‘riot’ that ensued was very appropriate for today’s setting
- D-Dave
- honestly i was scared that Klaus was gonna be overly attracted to him or whatever, which would be weird cause he’s years younger than Klaus, but honestly, at the core he just wanted to save Dave’s life. even if it means never meeting him in a different timeline. he truly loved Dave. and that ptsd flashback was done so well
- i knew Lila wasn’t trustworthy but i didn’t REALLY expect that!
- Vanya and Luther talking with each other, Luther admitting the apocalypse wasn’t all her fault. beautiful
- the Majestic 12 reminds me of the conspiracy theory that only a few families control basically everything in the world. the Majestic 12 may be based off of that, idk
- idk about everyone else but Klaus’s scorpion and the frog story made total sense to me! frogs ARE bitches
- the diner scene.... ugh. it really shows that the two of them did fall in love and they did stupid in love things, like talking about their family, about why Dave wanted to join, favorite colors, favorite foods, etc. however that’s seen later on when Dave visits the compound
- yes it’s very disheartening when Klaus is attacked, but honestly i think it had to happen, just like the riot had to happen. the 60s weren’t a fun time for lgbt people and poc. it was only going to be a matter of time before the show HAD to acknowledge the consequences of Klaus’s ‘flamboyancy’ in 1963 Texas. it doesn’t make it right or easy to see, but it’s realistic.
- it also makes sense that Klaus fell off the wagon after experiencing something like that. yes we all would’ve liked him to stay sober, but sobriety and recovery aren’t linear.
- Allison is so happy with Ray can we please drop this pseudo-incest plotline let’s MOVE ON
- Texas Grace ! who is not actually Grace rip (i think? i was a bit confused lol)
- the scene with Harlan running off was really upsetting but we got to see those weird light particles that we saw in the first season
- Pogo Pogo Pogo Pogo
- Klaus being a dick to Ben again, as brothers do. i do feel bad for Ben though it must be sooo frustrating. that scene with him and Allison was really sweet and funny tho
- i just have to say that Luther and Diego are so fucking funny this season it’s awesome. like there are a LOT of good lines overall by everyone but they’re hilarious. “At least he didn’t shank my ass” “no bro, he shanked your heart”“Dads part of a sinister CABAL that’s plotting on killing the president.” “a caBAL?”“You two still a thing? *leans in* do we need to talk?” “No, she’s married.” “Woah dude... that’s rough.” and countless others
- the sibling reunion!!
- Klaus really does get left out of everything tbh
- Ben :(
- sisters and Klaus!! that was so awesome to see. and Klaus’s hairpins, Vanya saying she’s gonna tell Sissy she loves her, their dance sequence, Klaus calling Allison out on that incest. beautiful
- the fucking Swedish cover of Hello was PERFECT i mean i was sad for the Swedes but it was hilarious. there were a couple beautiful shots of the boat on fire though
- god it must’ve been so traumatizing for Allison to be thrust into such a hostile place with no voice and no way to contact her family
-  idk about you guys but long live Team Zero
- calling Ben that he was becoming their father was a bit uncalled for
- the fact that Klaus didn’t help Dave’s chances, and in fact escalated Dave’s own timeline.. his trembling hands... robert sheehan is an amazing actor
- the Black president bit lmaoo loved it
- the way Reginald spoke to Diego.. i’m gonna throw hands with an old man
- Klaus LITERALLY looked like he was having a seizure and they all just... played it off??
- poor, poor Carl. nah fuck him lol
- that bloody opening scene was awesome! and thank god Five got to say fuck. the fact that it was about a candy bar makes too much sense
- Robert Sheehan acting as Ben: amazing showstopping spectacular he’s so talented
- the whole multiple Fives and Luther bit was honestly really funny, and i immensely respect smaller Five over bigger Five.
- yes Klaus, you survived a family of seven. you got this
- not sad about Carl dying one bit!
- Ben... that was such a beautiful scene. not just the content of the scene, but the cinematography. Ben fading away... Vanya hugging him... ugh. the main takeaway i had from that scene is that at the core of it all, Ben and Klaus love each other immensely. they have a weird, dysfunctional, fucked up relationship, where Klaus is an asshole and Ben definitely shouldn’t of possessed him without his consent, but they’re still brothers, and Ben forgives him.
- oof Ben’s funeral was hard. also was it just me or did Klaus’s kid actor sound weird? like it sounded like Robert was dubbing his lines
- all the siblings back together again!!!! Klaus going with Vanya to save Harlan!! Vanya telling him Ben forgives him and that it wasn’t Klaus’s fault Ben got stuck with him!! everyone in the car!!! be still my beating heart
- yeah didn’t see Lila having powers coming tbh. i really feel bad for her she’s had such a rough and traumatic life, especially with the Handler as her only parental figure
- the Swede brother and Five putting down their weapons: “enough.” the Swede wanted revenge for his brothers - an eye for an eye, but there was a mutual understanding between the two of them: they would do anything for their family. if the Swede hurts one of the Hargreeves, Five would never stop coming after him. i thought it was very beautiful
- mmm Reggie’s foreshadowing coming into play. proud of u Five
- the ending was so beautiful. everyone got closure in some type of way. except now Klaus is alone with nothing but his dog tags :(
- EMO BEN HAHAHA WTFFF?? is Lila in the sparrow academy? why was Ben’s portrait over the mantle piece? did Five disappear?? is the sparrow academy just older versions of the siblings who stuck around?? so many questions
FINAL THOUGHTS
- Ellen Page’s acting consistently blows me away. she is amazing
- beautiful cinematography, funny writing, pretty good acting. i didn’t like the soundtrack as much as i did the first season’s, but some of it wasn’t bad.
- i’m glad ben got peace, but i’m also glad justin min isn’t gone for good. his social media presence is too vital for us
- i swear to god if they keep treating klaus as a joke and don’t let him get any actual development like everyone else had (he barely got closure with Dave, he reconciled with Ben through a second party) next season, i’m gonna riot. PLEASE i want to learn more about his powers now that Ben is gone. what happened to seeing tons of ghosts when he’s sober??
- Luther and Diego were probably my favorite duo of the season, I’m so happy that they’ve reconciled and are bonding more.
- just seeing Vanya grow and be happy was amazing
all in all, really wonderful season. i probably liked it better than the first one. now it’s time to consume fanfiction and maybe finish my own (check out “god doesn’t want him and neither does the devil” on ao3!)

The Rewatch Academy: Episode 3 of Season 1
Tumblr media
“Extra Ordinary”
I am in no way a good analyst so my little analysis and speculations probably sound a bit goofy or pretty wild and probably mean nothing at all. Everything I put into this post about each episode is purely what I noticed or thought, whether it's funny or serious. I will be making jokes, so please just leave it at that (in no way am I trying to make fun of an actor and or character!) I am also in no way saying I noticed this stuff first. This is just what I noticed while rewatching these episodes
☂ ☂ ☂ ☂ ☂ ☂ ☂ ☂ ☂ ☂ ☂ ☂ ☂ ☂ ☂ ☂ ☂ ☂ ☂ ☂ ☂ ☂ ☂ ☂ ☂ ☂

☂ ☂ ☂ ☂ ☂ ☂ ☂ ☂ ☂ ☂ ☂ ☂ ☂ ☂ ☂ ☂ ☂ ☂ ☂ ☂ ☂ ☂ ☂ ☂ ☂ ☂
Tumblr media
☂ First off I’d like to say that this is one of my favorite episodes of this season. It’s just soooo good
☂ The second comic book in the window features the Televator from the actual comics, so that has to be canon in the show! Also at the time that that second comic came out, Five had already left since we don’t see him on the cover
Tumblr media Tumblr media
☂ It’d be cool if they actually printed Vanya’s book for fans to read
☂ Well Diego isn’t wrong when he called Hazel and Cha Cha animals because of their masks
☂ Honestly I feel Vanya’s struggle with chair placement. I’ve fortunately had the luck of playing in all three clarinet chair placements, but 1st chair is challenging. I personally found each placement very fun to play, especially 3rd, and I hope Vanya does too! (why am I talking like she’s real)
☂ Hazel talks about people living ordinary lives, but didn’t he live like that too at one point? How does The Commission recruit people? If they get ordinary people, do they wipe their memories of their previous lives?
☂ “Let’s see’em get out from behind their desks, get their hands dirty for once.” Well Hazel, Five does indeed do this even though he only had a desk job for a day. Still, he got to experience both worlds
☂ My mind is blanking on this, but how did Five get that cut on his arm? Was it from a bullet wound at Gimbel’s?
☂ Five must have a high pain tolerance to stitch his own wound but his bandaid probably wouldn’t stick due to the wet blood he slapped it over. Five sweetie you need a cotton pad and gauze for that one
☂ Wait, you’re telling me that The Umbrella Academy boys’ top uniform consists of a tank top, a white dress shirt, a tie, a sweater vest, and then the blazer? Someone asked Reginald what he wanted for the uniforms and he just said “Yes.”
☂ Five: *puts hands in pockets only to immediately take them out*
☂ Aidan almost sounds like he has an accent when he says “I'm done funding your drug habit.”
☂ Five’s so soft talking to his wife
☂ No Leonard, your bread and butter is being a creep
☂ Also, he thinks wood carving is embarrassing? If someone came up to me and showed me something they carved out of wood I would be so jealous cause it’s such a neat form of art
☂ Leonard saying that he carved wood, and in that case wooden figures, when he was a kid is a slight foreshadow of all of his tampering with his Umbrella Academy figures. He can make wooden figures but he’s also destroyed a handful of the Hargreeves figures
☂ “Never really did like The Beatles.” Well sir you’ve made me dislike you even more
☂ Vanya asking Allison if her siblings wanted her at the family meeting bugs me a bit. I absolutely get that she was literally left out of anything and everything that had to do with her siblings when she was younger, but Allison just asked her to come back home for a family meeting. Allison wouldn't have walked around looking for Vanya only to tell her that they were having a family meeting and that she wasn’t actually invited. Allison is including her in on a family meeting but Vanya is just in a bit of disbelief that she’s being included
☂ Ah yes, the only PTSD flashback for Five we see in the show! He looks so scared when he snaps out of it. I believe it was somehow triggered by the kids (I could be wrong) but do you think Five sometimes panics when he looks at himself in the mirror now since his body is the same age it was when he got stuck? Also it’s very subtle but when Luther opens the door, Five slightly jerks/flinches back. I wish we would see more of this in the show since it’s one of his major traumas
Tumblr media
☂ “Does it matter? It’s Klaus.” Ouch! Well Five I hope you know that your siblings are somewhat thinking the same thing since they believe that you’ve lost your mind and are practically an old man crying “Apocalypse!”
☂ Five does an ever so slight huff and smirk when Luther tells him that the meeting at the Academy is important. He finds it a little funny but so frustrating in his mind that Luther doesn’t know what’s truly important
☂ Also I love that Aidan has to turn to the side so that he can keep it together after Klaus talks about his chocolate pudding waxing. Either that or he’s portraying Five as being frustrated and in disbelief. Also this is the first time I’ve noticed that he says “Ay, ay ay...”
Tumblr media
☂ “We’re all you have. And you know it.” Oh Luther, you’re failing to see that that’s why he’s acting like this right now. He’s all frantic and crazed about trying to stop the apocalypse so that he can protect and save all that he has
☂ Five certainly is mad at Luther during his mini lecture. He’s clenching his jaw tightly and when he first speaks he hisses out the words through gritted teeth. He even called Luther by his number. He’s very impatient at this point and doesn’t care for Luther’s act of attempting to be a leader
☂ This is their first, and certainly not last, time watching Klaus go by in front of them doing something he shouldn’t be doing
Tumblr media
☂ “You haven’t been home in a long time, Vanya.” Sir you were also just on the moon for four years. Yeah Vanya was away for a long time but Grace easily could have changed too during the four years you were gone
☂ How sweet, even though Five hasn’t really been home they want to include him in on the family vote :]
☂ I’ve noticed that in S1 that David really mumbles his lines. A lot
☂ I wish we got more flashbacks of the younger Umbrellas
☂ Diego my beloved mama’s boy ♥️
☂ It’s confusing as to which country TUA takes place in, but it’s really not supposed to be a specific one. It’s portrayed as being in North America, but you can see behind Cha Cha when she gets out of the car at the Academy the flag of the RAF, which Canada would have at a monument since it’s a Commonwealth country. At the same time though Delores came from Gimbels, which was a department store chain across the U.S
☂ The light above Five’s portrait is slightly crooked, which probably means no one has really been paying attention to it
☂ It makes me nervous that Klaus wipes bubbles onto his face. It looks like he got some in his eyes
☂ Ugh I love the whole scene of Hazel and Cha Cha walking around the Academy with “We’re Through” playing
☂ Diego: *has knives but instead chooses to punch and hit Hazel to try to make him let go of Allison”
☂ A rope-a-dope is a boxing tactic of pretending to be trapped against the ropes, goading an opponent to throw tiring ineffective punches. Diego sweetie Hazel wasn’t even trying to get you off of him all he was doing was choking Allison. The only person who got tired was probably you
☂ What’s the point in Diego yelling “Luther, go!” if he’s already going 💀
☂ Luther was there immediately when Hazel attacked Vanya. That means that Luther heard Vanya and was going to go get her to safety
☂ I will never stop signing my praise for the entirety of the “Sinnerman” fight scene(s). It gives me chills every single time. Easily one of the best scenes in all of the show
☂ Klaus must really have his music blasting if he can’t hear the gun shots right next to him
☂ I’ve always wondered if Allison actually registered in her mind that “The boy” is Five when Cha Cha says that’s who they’re looking for. Either she does realize that’s Five, is simply just angry that those two are looking for a boy, or registers in her mind that it’s Five through his superhero codename even though Cha Cha’s not referring to him in that way
☂ Diego is full on just standing in the background watching Allison get beat up by Cha Cha 🕴
☂ I love Diego’s little hand flap when he gets hit in the hand fighting Cha Cha
☂ Okay so I make everything about Five, but the whole Cha Cha fight scene with Allison and then Diego kind of scares me. Cha Cha and Hazel are both amazing assassins (they’re both probably right below Five) and neither Allison nor Diego could stop her by themselves. Could you imagine Five fighting one of his siblings? Especially with his spatial jumps? We already got a glimpse of his true combat skills when he fights Lila in S2. What a scary little old man
☂ “Vanya, get out of here!” Again, wanting to make sure that Vanya is safe and gets away. He even tried to go look for her
☂ Something I don’t really get about the Hazel and Luther fight is why doesn’t Luther just overpower him? Luther has super strength and on top of that he has giant muscles due to the gorilla DNA. Shouldn’t he be able to beat Hazel to a pulp? Maybe we have to consider that Hazel might have been altered by The Commission to be stronger and more durable, but they haven’t mentioned that in the show
☂ “Ah, you gotta cut down on that fast food, soldier.” What are you talking about Diego he literally just got off the moon two days ago aflksjfdk
☂ So Luther was too injured to jump out of the way of the chandelier but was able to push it up off of himself? 🤔
☂ I personally think that Luther’s body design adaptation for the show is really cool and that they gave him the perfect amount of bulk without making him look ridiculous
☂ This has been pointed out before, but cross-stitch foreshadowing, baby
☂ Again, Diego my beloved mama’s boy ♥️
☂ Well at least Diego thought about Vanya dying before thinking about his siblings dying because of her. The latter is ironic!
☂ The clock above Luther’s mirror reads approximately 1:30 am. Hazel and Cha Cha didn’t want to wait until morning
☂ I wonder how different it would be if Five was present at the Academy when Hazel and Cha Cha attacked. He probably would have surrendered himself to them, but it's fun to entertain the idea that he would go apeshit if he knew that they were harming his family in order to find him
☂☂☂☂☂☂☂

"So, Diego can control knives and such and he was stabbed?" Vanya asked as the two approached what appeared to be a tv store.
Five was picking at his shirt, something that was shoved at him as he was pushed into the bathroom while they were at Sissy's. Vanya hadn't been quite sure how to explain everything, but Sissy, bless her, was willing to wait for explanations until later and focus on the mess Vanya's little brother was. Five had not been pleased, but was easily placated with a cup of coffee and a sandwich Vanya made that caused him to freeze for a long moment before eating and jumping them back into town without the car. She still wasn't sure why she had thrown marshmallows on it, but it worked.
"He controls trajectories, things that are thrown. He just perfers knives," Five explained, that underlying annoyance becoming more apparent. "I imagine the knife was not in the air when it was stabbed into him, but I wasn't there."
Five had been giving her a slightly better breakdown of their different siblings and now she was about to meet another. "And there are three of us you still haven't found?" She asked.
Five winced and opened the door as he said, "Yes, although I imagine Klaus and Ben can be found together."
"Why would they be-"
"Oi, there you are shortstack, where have you been?" Vanya was startled as another voice cut her off and she looked up to find a woman in a jumper and choppy hair staring down at them.
"Who is that?" Vanya asked.
"That is Lila," Five sighed. "Diego's friend. Ignore her."
"Seriously, after I saved your brother's life and everything?" the woman was loudly chewing gum and watched the two climb up to the second floor, but Five was just ignoring her as he said to.
Vanya stood back a little as she wasn't sure if she should introduce herself as Five clearly wasn't going to when she noticed the nearly naked man on the couch glaring at her. She looked back and forth from the three other people before going with, "Hello, are you Diego?"
"Really? My hair grows out and suddenly you can't recognize me," the man's eyes narrowed as he pushed himself up on his elbows.
"Hey idiot, she doesn't know who you are cause she lost her memory. Woke up in the ally back there like the rest of us," Five snapped as he crossed back into what appeared to be a kitchen.
"Doesn't change that the last time I saw her, she was trying to kill me. Trying to kill all of us or am I the only one who remembers that little detail," the man, Diego, Vanya had decided, snapped back.
Another man emerged from the backroom and stared at her a moment as he pulled down a couple of mugs and Lila slid up next to her, "Trying to kill these two? Don't blame ya, they really are the worst."
Ignoring Diego's protest, Vanya just said, "I'm really sorry about whatever I did in trying to kill all of you. I don't remember any of it and have no idea why I would be so mad to try that, but it shouldn't have happened."
Diego stared at her for a moment during which Five walked back in with another cup of coffee (did that kid drink anything else?) before saying, "Okay, I'll take it for now. But once we figure out how to get your memory back, I want a proper apology. For everyone. Cause some people may not ask for it, but we all need one." His eyes drifted over to the boy who was quietly sipping his coffee and Vanya nodded.

AU-gust: Ya like Jazz?
Read on AO3
No warnings
prompt no 7: Beekeeper
Characters: Lila Pitts, Diego Hargreeves, Klaus Hargreeves
Relationship: Lila Pitts/Diego Hargreeves
-
So, dad’s dead and now they have his estate to deal with.
The stupid townhouse that the old man had cobbled together from two separate houses, making it into some kind of monstrosity of cavernous halls and oddly shaped rooms, and then filled it to the brim with artefacts, antiques, taxidermied animals, and seven children he didn’t love, stolen from all corners of the world, was bad enough. But this… thing in the middle of absolutely nowhere really puts the cherry on top of the turd sandwich… or whatever the expression is, Klaus is finding it hard to concentrate on his own thoughts while he’s looking at the creepiest wood cabin he has ever seen in real life.
He shouldn’t even be here. He’d only come along to the reading of the will as he was hoping to get some cash that his father would have left for him, purely for appearance’s sake, but then his slightly estranged siblings (they have met for family weddings and funerals, and occasionally run into each other more or less intentionally over the years) promised him a real share if he helped them deal with things.
He should have stuck to Allison, but she is freshly divorced and in a surprisingly bad mood about it, so Klaus decided on Diego instead. But that has landed him outside the cabin, none of them knew existed, after a slightly tense two hour drive with his grumpiest brother.
The drive was tense because the last time Klaus had stayed with Diego when he was between living arrangements, he may have liberated from his brother a - what turned out to be - quite expensive watch.
Diego really does like to hold a grudge. Klaus thinks that’s rather pedestrian of him.
But as nothing can be proven, Klaus decides to repay Diego for the watch by giving some assistance with the cabin and not even complaining about it. Well maybe a little.
“What was the old coot even doing with this?” he asks incredulously.
“Dunno… let’s go and find out,” Diego says and then goes up to the door and breaks the lock with his Swiss army knife, like a glorified boy scout.
What they find inside is more of what they found inside the house in the city. A place filled to the brim with stuff. And to Klaus’s utter annoyance, it is very hard to distinguish the valuables from the junk.
They start halfheartedly looking through things, not even bothering to tidy much, just deciding that they’ll probably have to take anything that’s worth keeping and then hire a company to do the rest.
Klaus opens a heavy looking wooden chest and then springs back with a yelp.
“What?” Diego calls from the other room.
“Bees!” Klaus shouts in a high pitched voice and then edges back a little more, glad he dropped the lid back down in his panic, but still able to see the huge writhing mass of a hive before his mind’s eye.
“What the shit? Nah man! I don’t fuck with bees!” Diego has made it no closer to Klaus than to the door between the rooms and he’s apparently decided that’s as far as he needs to go.
“What do we do?” Klaus’s usually stoic brother asks him with a deep frown and a lot more worry in his voice than Klaus has heard in a long while.
“I don’t know,” Klaus answers, making his way over to find shelter in the other room, not particularly interested in getting stung either.
Then he has a thought, “But if the internet is to be believed, there are bouji white women all over the place who love nothing more than to scrape some bees out of any old crack or crevice, I’m sure we can find one who’ll help us with our little issue.”
He pulls out his phone and starts searching. Not quite sure what to type into google, he just tries the dumbest version of what he’s looking for. That usually works.
“Aha!” he exclaims, and Diego comes to look over his shoulder. Klaus reads out loud, “It says ‘The Bee Handler - we handle any bee trouble you might have’ sounds like exactly the thing we’re looking for. And this woman might be a bit older than I expected, but she’s excessively blonde and very bouji looking, don’t you think?”
“Call her!” Diego grumbles.
The bee handler lady says she has no appointments free for a removal for the next four weeks, but when Klaus explains that they have come all the way out to the cabin and weren’t planning on coming back, but need to be able to look through the rest of the bee infested room, and when he then also explains that they are willing to compensate her handsomely for her troubles, the woman promises to send her daughter along, who is apparently involved in the family business.
-
Klaus and Diego decide to edge their way along the wall of the room full of danger, just to get out of the cabin and wait for the bee handler’s daughter out on the porch.
When a huge, fuck off truck pulls up the dirt road about an hour and a half later and a woman climbs out the driver’s side, she turns out to be nothing like what Klaus had expected.
Klaus had imagined a tall, elegant, blonde woman, wearing a pastel coloured chiffon blouse, maybe a wide brimmed hat. Instead he finds that they’ll apparently be rescued from their bees by a tiny, very angry looking goth.
She clambers up onto the flat back of her truck, not having acknowledged Klaus and Diego yet, pulls a huge case down, and then stomps her way over to them, once shiny red boots getting duller with each step she takes along the dusty path.
“The directions you left for me were absolute dogshit, which one of you numpties do I have to thank for that?” Her accent sounds a lot more like their father’s than the woman Klaus talked to on the phone.
“That would be me,” Klaus answers, having no trouble keeping his tone excessively pleasant. He’s quite certain she just called him an ition, but if he got offended every time someone called him an idiot, he’d end up being constantly angry like his brother. The brother who’s gone oddly quiet.
Klaus turns around to Diego, as the woman stomps up the wooden stairs, and finds a very peculiar look on his face.
“Right, I’m Lila, I’ll be handling your bees today… yada yada, my mother insists I give you the spiel… for the branding. So, where are the little creepers?” the woman, Lila, drawls with a slightly blank expression, but her kohl rimmed eyes glow a bit brighter when she starts talking about the bees.
“Just this way,” Klaus swings his arm towards the door dramatically to indicate the way. “After y…” he trails off when Lila breezes past him entirely ignoring him.
He’s just about to follow her in, when Diego pushes past him, also saying nothing and with a slightly dumb, almost dreamy expression on his face.
Oh fuck, Klaus thinks. He’s forgotten about his brother’s thing for intimidating, angry women. This should be interesting.
-
Klaus can admit that at times Diego can be remarkably smooth. At other times he is a huge dumbass. These versions of him occur seemingly at random and apparently today Diego is incapable of pulling off smooth.
The two brothers spend most of the time that Lila takes dealing with the hive, back in the other room, watching from the doorway as she… does whatever it is she has to do… and Diego has made multiple attempts at small talk, but Lila keeps shooting him down with bored one word answers. Klaus likes her on principle for making his brother look like a fool.
Once she’s more or less done, she closes the lid of the chest and instructs the two of them to carry it outside so that the remaining bees that she couldn’t secure in her crate can fly out, once outside, and hopefully follow her along to her destination.
Klaus really doesn’t want to do any heavy lifting, and even Diego next to him seems reluctant to get too close to the bee infested chest, but it’s not like they have much of an alternative so they seemingly silently agree to get it over with as quickly as possible.
Klaus takes the front end, assuming his brother, who has much more in the way of brawn to offer, will have an easier time of keeping his end up when they make their way down the front steps.
They manage quite well, with hardly any cursing from Diego, and Lila follows them outside.
And then, to his genuine surprise, when they get to the dusty path in front of the porch, Klaus catches Lila staring at Diego where he’s gently putting down his end of the chest - Klaus just let his drop unceremoniously - and she’s thoroughly checking his brother out.
Good lord, Klaus thinks, Diego is lucky that he’s hot.
But somehow, nothing else happens. It seems, Diego’s given up on his pathetic attempts at flirting, and while Diego scribbles down his credit card information, Lila just looks at him with a slight scowl, as if he’s taking too long for her liking.
She gets in her truck and Diego ambles back towards the cabin, “C’mon Klaus, I want to be done here before it gets dark!” he calls.
“Right with you in a sec!” Klaus sing-songs back and thinks he hears a grumbled ‘whatever’ as Diego disappears back into the cabin.
Klaus makes his way over to the open car window where Lila seems to be sorting through some paperwork.
“What now?” her question dripping with irritation.
“Do you ever make it into the city?” Klaus asks, as casually as he can manage, which is very.
“How’s that any of your business?” Lila shoots back, giving him a very sceptical frown.
“Humor me for a second,” Klaus gives her his brightest, most disarming smile.
And apparently it works, because she shrugs and says “on occasion…”
“Then you should let me give you my brother's number!”
“Why?” Actual bafflement has made it into Lila’s voice, she doesn’t even sound quite so angry anymore.
“So you can call him up when you’re in the city, silly! Go on a date, have wild, sweaty sex, or whatever you kids want to do!” and when her mouth literally drops open in shock, Klaus goes on, “Oh please, are you telling me you didn’t notice him mooning over you?”
“He was?” she asks in a voice that’s significantly more quiet and softer than any other she’s used on them all afternoon. And Klaus can’t be sure with the dark brown of her skin, but he’s getting the impression that she’s blushing.
“Oh my god! You two idiots are made for each other. Give me your phone!” Klaus rolls his eyes at her.
Lila pulls out her phone and hands it over.

We’ve reached the final episode of Season 2.  Will the Hargreeves Siblings find a way back to their own time?  And can they find a way to help Harlan, who has somehow gained Vanya’s powers and has therefore become targeted by The Commission?
Before we get to address those questions, the episode gives us a flashback to 2006. It’s apparently right after Ben’s tragic death, and the surviving Hargreeves Siblings (minus Number 5, who is still trapped in the future) are gathering for his funeral.  Of course, Reginald, proving once again that he’s the worst, makes the Hargreeves Siblings feel as if it was their fault Ben died.  (Dude, if the students failed, then maybe that just means you failed as a teacher.)  After Reginald goes back inside with Grace and Pogo, Young Vanya tries to comfort her grieving siblings by telling them it wasn’t their fault.  Young Diego, being Diego, lashes out at her, telling her that she doesn’t deserve to have a say since she wasn’t on the mission.  Which, of course, sends Young Vanya running off in tears.  Young Allison and Young Luther both scold Young Diego for being a jerk, and before long, the three of them are fighting amongst themselves.  Young Klaus, however, slips away alone and uses his powers to summon Ben’s ghost.  Once Ben’s ghost appears, Young Klaus tells him that things have been pretty bad sine he died.  Ben then tells Young Klaus that he can’t stay long, as he was getting ready to walk into the light.  Young Klaus, however, scoffs and tells Ben not to worry about it, announcing that the bright light isn’t going anywhere, and he can go off into it whenever he wants.  Ben seems to accept this, and they walk off together.
Okay, probably a silly thing to focus on, but....if Ben is a ghost throughout most of the show’s events, shouldn’t he look the same as he did when he died?  Because in this flashback, Ben’s ghost looks younger than he did in previous episodes.  Can ghosts physically age?  Of course, this is probably just a nitpick.
Getting back to the current time, it turns out that, for some reason, Luther, Allison, Diego, Klaus and Vanya are all wanted by the FBI now.  It’s a bit confusing, really, but for some reason, they’re all suspected to have assisted Lee Harvey Oswald in assassinating President Kennedy.  Not entirely sure why, though.  Although it probably had been noted by the Feds that Vanya was brought in for questioning, and that the agents that had been interrogating her are all dead.  And Klaus, Allison and Diego had been seen entering the FBI building around that time.  Doesn’t really explain how Luther ended up as a suspect, though, but whatever.  The only one who seems to be in the clear is Number 5, but that’s because the Feds seem to think he’s an ordinary little boy who is being held hostage by the other Hargreeves Siblings.  Klaus suggests they hide out in Iceland for a bit, but Number 5 points out that hiding is pointless.  Because even if they can evade the FBI and the secret service, there’s no escaping The Commission.  But because the Hargreeves Siblings can’t seem to get along for more than five minutes, a fight erupts when Diego reveals he was recruited by The Commission himself.  Something that Number 5 finds laughable as he views Diego as an idiot.  Amidst the fighting, Vanya slips off to try and call Sissy.  But as she tries to call, she suddenly gets a telepathic message from Harlan.  It’s here that it’s revealed exactly how Harlan managed to obtain Vanya’s powers.  It seems that when Vanya saved Harlan from drowning a few episodes back, she somehow transferred a fragment of her superpower into him.  Which explains what those glowing lights were.  Not entirely sure how that works.  Can the other Hargreeves Siblings pass their unique abilities on to someone else, or is this something exclusive to Vanya?  Either way, I suppose we’ll just have to go with it.
In any event, Vanya informs her brothers and sister of her accidental connection with Harlan, stating she has to head back to the farmhouse in order to help the boy.  She asks them to come with her, as she’s scared and she wants to have her family with her.  Unfortunately, Diego states that their priorities lie elsewhere, and for once, Number 5 states he’s in agreement with Diego.  When Vanya sees that none of her siblings seem willing to help her with this, she turns to go off on her own.  But as she starts the car, Klaus suddenly appears in the passenger seat.  They briefly discuss Ben, who had finally crossed over last episode after helping Vanya overcome her guilt pertaining to the things she did when her powers were out of control.  Vanya then informs Klaus that Ben left her a message for him.  Ben had wanted Klaus to know that he wasn’t the reason why he’d stuck around for so long.  It had been because Ben had been too scared to cross over.  This news alleviates Klaus’ own feelings of guilt, as he’d long believed he’d been keeping Ben from his ticket to Heaven.  Klaus then announces he intends to stick by Vanya when she goes to help Harlan.  And then, one by one, the others all join Klaus and Vanya in the car as well.  Which is a bit of a surprising heal turn for most of them, but at least they’re finally acting like a family for once.  Which is really fortunate as it’s revealed to the audience that the last remaining Swede is following them.
By the time the Hargreeves Siblings make it to the farmhouse, it’s clear that Harlan is in desperate need of help.  Bolts of lightning are blasting out from the barn and the area around the farmhouse is covered with snow.  As they approach the barn, Sissy appears, aiming her riffle at them.  It’s clear that she’s scared for her son, and she confronts Vanya, demanding to know what she did to Harlan, and if she’d been lying to her the whole time.  Vanya is able to convince Sissy that she wasn’t lying, that she really hadn’t remembered who she was before but she does now.  She goes on to tell Sissy that, whatever she might have heard, they’re not monsters, they’re aren’t there to hurt anyone, and that they didn’t kill President Kennedy.  In the end, Sissy accepts what Vanya is telling her, and she allows them to enter the barn, where Harlan is in the middle of an obvious meltdown, with the powers he got from Vanya spiraling out of control.  As Vanya begins to attempt to calm Harlan down, Klaus spots The Handler and Lila appearing outside and he alerts the others.  Diego and Number 5 decide to go out to face them.  After a bit of back and forth, The Handler reveals that Number 5′s involvement in the death of The Commission’s board of directors has been found out.  (Though the fact that The Handler herself ordered him to do so has been covered up.)  Diego points out that she and Lila (who has also fallen for The Handler’s lies) are outnumbered.  The Handler, however, isn’t phased by this and reveals that they’re not alone. Every single temporal assassin on The Commission’s payroll is also there.  So Diego and Number 5 (as well as Luther, Allison and Klaus, who also came outside to watch) are forced to retreat.
Diego and Number 5 try to seek refuge from the wave of bullets behind a tractor.  Number 5 attempts to teleport them into the farmhouse for refuge, but he’s out of juice.  So Diego decides to cover him by using his own powers of controlling the trajectory of objects, stopping the bullets in midair and redirecting them towards a nearby fuel tanker.  Of course, that’s not nearly enough to stop the temporal assassins, who are continuing their charge.
Inside the barn, Vanya has almost managed to talk Harlan down, but the flying bullets from the horde of temporal assassins disrupts her efforts.  After checking to see if Sissy is okay, Vanya decides to head out to help her brothers and sisters, with Sissy going to check on Harlan, who landed nearby.  By the time Vanya steps outside, things are looking pretty bleak for the other Hargreeves Siblings.  But Vanya is able to effortlessly shove every one of the temporal assassins backwards, effectively stopping their assault.  So for a brief moment, it looks like things will be okay for the Hargreeves Siblings.  But then, out of nowhere, it’s revealed that Lila was able to construct a forcefield around herself and The Handler, which protected them from Vanya’s counterattack.  Lila then begins utilizing the same ability as Vanya. Which obviously stuns the Hargreeves Siblings.  Before they can recover from their shock, Lila fires off a shockwave that sends them all flying off in different directions.
The Handler, on the other hand, doesn’t seem shocked by this and instructs Lila to kill the Hargreeves Siblings.  Lila obediently enters the farmhouse, where Luther and Number 5 wound up.  She approaches them after Number 5 got himself buried under the collapsing brick fireplace.  Luther questions who she is, and Lila replies that she’s someone who wants to kill Number 5.  Luther states he finds this understandable, but since Number 5 is his brother, he’s obligated to protect him.  But when he tries to punch Lila, she’s able to physically stop his fist with her bare hand and effortlessly throws him through the wall.  So it looks like Lila has Luther’s power of super strength, too.  And during the next few minutes, it’s reveled Lila can also mimic Allison and Number 5′s powers as well.
As Lila and Number 5 continue to fight inside the farmhouse, Allison, Luther, Klaus and Vanya all gather to help Diego, who ended up getting pinned beneath the tractor.  After freeing Diego, they start to discuss Lila’s sudden display of powers.  Before long, they reach a shocking conclusion- Lila was one of the Miracle Babies that were born on October 1st 1989.  Specifically one of the 36 Miracle Babies that Reginald hadn’t managed to obtain.  And her superpower was the ability to mimic the powers of anyone near her.  Of course, this does present the problem of how they could bring her down, as anything they threw at her could be directed back at them.  Klaus, however, theorizes that she may be able to only mimic one person at a time.  Meaning that, if they team up and attack in unison, it might do to the trick.
Meanwhile, The Handler makes her way over to where Sissy and Harlan are hiding out.  The Handler punches Sissy out and makes her way over to Harlan, announcing she’s his new mother.  She begins to entice Harlan to come with her, claiming that she can offer him a place where he’ll be understood.
Elsewhere, Lila and Number 5 are still engaged in their battle.  Lila announces that she plans to make Number 5 pay for what he’s done, but Number 5 insists he has no idea what she’s talking about.  Until Lila mentions her birth parents’ names, Ronnie and Anita Gill.   Right away, Number 5 remembers the pair in question.  He agrees that they didn’t deserve to die, but stares it hadn’t been personal when he killed them.  It had just been another job he did as a temporal assassins.  However, he tells Lila that if she’s going to blame anyone, she should look to The Handler, who had accompanied him on the kill order, which is something that executives at The Commission never did.  Number 5 realizes the truth in that moment.  He tells Lila that The Handler must have issued a fake kill order for Ronnie and Anita Gill, with the sole intention of getting to Lila, knowing that Lila was one of the Miracle Babies born on that fateful October day.  At that moment, the other Hargreeves Siblings appear on the scene.  They back up Number 5, saying that his conclusion makes sense, and that The Handler must have stolen her the way Reginald had stolen all of them.  The only difference is that Reginald hadn’t murdered any of their parents.  Lila is visibly shaken by this revelation, and clearly isn’t willing to accept it.  Diego, however, persists at reaching out to her, telling her that The Handler only loves her for her powers, and the moment they stop being useful to her, she’ll view Lila as disposable.  But they can offer Lila the chance to be a part of a real family.
For a moment, it looks as if Diego’s words are getting though to Lila.  But in the blink of an eye, The Handler appears out of nowhere and guns everyone down.  Lila confronts The Handler over what she’s just figured out.  The Handler doesn’t deny it and simply asks if they can move past it and be a family again.  In response, Lila asks The Handler if she actually does love her, and when she gets no answer, she makes a move to attack, only to get shot on the spot.
However, it seems that Number 5 is not dead yet.  When The Handler notices this, she steps over to him, announcing she’s pleased he could live long enough to see how everything played out.  She then lifts her gun to finish him off.  Before she could fire off the killing shot, the last remaining Swede shows up out of nowhere, shooting her in the back.  Because he’d realized that The Handler had been the one who was responsible for the death of his brothers, on account of her intentionally misleading them.  And with that, The Handler is dead.
But then The Swede aims his gun at Number 5, with the intention of killing him as well.  At the last second, Number 5 remembers what 1963 Reginald had suggested in 2x06, about making small time jumps instead of big ones.  This inspires him to travel back in time to right before The Handler shot his siblings dead.  This enables him to wrestle the gun away from The Handler before she could kill the Hargreees Siblings and Lila.  She still gets shot dead by The Swede (hopefully for good this time!), but this time, Number 5 is in the position to have a proper faceoff with The Swede.  After a tense moment with the two facing each other, Number 5 drops The Handler’s gun.  This is able to convince The Swede to also back down, with the two of them agreeing that it was pointless to continue fighting and killing each other.  However, amidst the confusion, Lila makes a dive for The Handler’s time traveling briefcase.  Luther tries to stop her, but Diego blocks him, allowing Lila to get away.  Luther questions Diego as to why he stopped him, and Diego admits that he loves Lila.
Of course, things aren’t fully resolved yet.  And that’s proven when Sissy cries out for Vanya.  She has apparently regained consciousness and saw that Harlan’s powers are still flaring up.  Vanya quickly moves to Harlan’s side, comforting him.  She manages to take back the fragment of her powers, thereby freeing Harlan of the burden, much to Sissy’s relief.
In the aftermath, Herb and Dot, the two members of The Commission who had been helpful to the Hargreeves Siblings, appear at the farmhouse to help tie up all the loose ends.  They explain that The Commission is in the process of electing a new board of directors, but until then, Herb is the acting chairperson.  Herb admits he’s nervous about his new position of authority, but Number 5 assures him that he’ll do fine. However, there’s still the matter of how the Hargreeves Siblings will get back to their own time.  Herb suggests they use one of the time traveling briefcases that the dead temporal assassins had used.
As for Sissy and Harlan, Sissy tells Vanya that they can’t go with her when she returns to her own time.  She explains that she’s worried about Harlan and the danger he might be put into if they travel into the future.  She’s also scared for Vanya, and how they might not be able to have a normal life where they wouldn’t be hunted down.  Vanya is upset by Sissy’s decision, but she accepts it.  She asks Sissy where she’ll go, and Sissy mentions she has friends in California.  Vanya encourages her to go live the full life she deserves.  With that, the two share a goodbye kiss.
As the episode comes to a close, we see Ray alone at home, where he finds a goodbye letter that Allison left him.  As Allison’s letter is read in a voiceover, we see a brief montage. Vanya and Diego seem to be getting along now.  Klaus gazes tenderly at Dave’s dogtags as Past Dave boards the bus to join the Marines.  The last remaining Swede is picked up by the bus filled with Klaus’ former cult, which Keechie now leads.  Luther tries to make a phone call to his former boss, Mr. Ruby, but is unable to reach him.  Because Mr. Ruby, who had been watching the news broadcasts of President Kennedy’s assassination, was driven to pick up a gun.  (In case you haven’t figured it out by now, Mr. Ruby is Jack Ruby, the man who shot and killed Lee Harvey Oswald while he was in police custody.)  And Sissy and Harlan drive off to New Mexico.  Though it seems that Harlan has retained some of Vanya’s powers, as he’s able to levitate his bird toy.  When the montage is complete, The Hargreeves Siblings gather around the briefcase and depart 1963 at last. (Though Klaus pauses to pick up a cowboy hat first.)  They reappear on April 2nd, 2019, the day after the original apocalypse.  Which indicates that that apocalypse has successfully been prevented.  What’s more, the Umbrella Academy mansion is still standing, despite the fact that it had previously been destroyed by an enraged Vanya.
Upon realizing that they succeeded, the Hargreeves Siblings all start to celebrate.  But as they make their way to celebrate with a drink, Diego notices that there’s a picture of Ben above the fireplace mantle.  Up until now, that had been a picture of Number 5.  At that moment, Reginald appears, alive and well, even though he’s supposed to be dead.  Reginald announces he knew they’d show up eventually.  He then reveals that this isn’t the Umbrella Academy mansion anymore.  It’s now the Sparrow Academy mansion.  As he makes this announcement, the silhouettes of five people and a glowing cube appear on the upstairs landing.  Seconds later, a sixth person appears.  The sixth person is revealed to be a living Ben, who makes it clear that he doesn’t recognize any of the Hargreeves Siblings.
And so ends the second season of Umbrella Academy.  And it’s anyone’s guess what will happen in season 3.
Closing thoughts/questions:
Okay.  So apparently, 1963 Reginald ended up selecting completely different individuals in this new timeline, completely bypassing Luther, Diego, Allison, Klaus, Number 5 and Vanya this time around.  Kinda makes sense, since he must have concluded them to be failures because of his brief encounter with them in 1963.  But he still selected Ben for his warped experiment, since he hadn’t been made aware of his existence at that time.  Wonder what this new batch of siblings are like.  And what’s with the glowing cube?
Will we see Lila again?  Because I’m hoping she’ll reunite with Diego.  I really ship those two.  Yes, they’re both one of those Miracle Babies, but unlike Luther and Allison, they weren’t raised as brother and sister, so it’s not creepy.
Wonder what became of Harlan, considering he still maintained some of Vanya’s powers.  Granted he seems to have them under control now, but  I still wonder if anyone ever found out about them.  In a related story, I wonder if Vanya will end up getting in touch with Sissy.  (Sure, she’s probably an old woman by now, but I’d be surprised if Vanya didn’t try to check up on her.)
Likewise, I wonder if Allison will check up on Ray.  Particularly since it’s unclear if Claire even exists in this new timeline.
While it looks like Dave is still on the path that will ultimately lead to his death, I’ve seen there does seem to be a slight variation.  Originally, Dave was a soldier in the army when he fought and died in the Vietnam War.  But when he boards the bus to be shipped off, he’s addressed as a Marine, which is a completely different military branch.  Either this was a continuity error or his path was indeed altered and he won’t die at  A Shau Valley after all.
