I really like that they made Jor-El speak Kryptonian and Clark unable to understand him. The whole "aliens speak English" thing that happens in every goddamn media has bothered me all my life. Ik sometimes Clark just gets zapped in the brain for insta-second language but that always felt like a cheap shortcut.
Jor-El had a lot on his mind when he set up that magic spaceship okay. The world was ending and he was trying to do as much as he could before time ran out so he could be there for his son. He was rushing. He likely didn't consider Kal would be raised with a whole different language and not know any Kryptonian nor have anyone to teach him.

need the same energy people have for klavier speaking german w apollo spilling into khura'in phrases. esp since hes so closed off and never mentions his past. the first time it happens klavs shocked like you know khura'inese? and apollos like yeah its my first language i guess (trying to be evasive) i feel like he'd also get slightly homesick or nostalgic sometimes and put on channels from khura'in to doze off to just to hear something familiar. n klavier is ecstatic to be privy to this side of apollo that he knows very few people have seen.

Okay, but if the pairings they're announcing are the same pairs for taking care of the eggs, the idea of having 30yo Willy taking care of an egg alongside 19yo Tubbo just added 10 years to my life

Language Barriers!
Personally I don’t think enough people recognize the possibilities behind the chain having to work through language barriers. They’re from different times. Languages evolve over time. (I have read a couple good fics that explore some of the possibilities of the chain having to deal with language differences, but I don’t remember their names, or the authors of them…)
Now of course, many of them might not have too many differences in their languages, or have a way to easily translate. Either because they’re not too far apart in the timeline, or they have their history well documented.
But where, you might be asking, does that leave Wild? The answer is completely unable to understand the chain or be understood by the chain. Wild is, what, canonically more than 10,000 years in the future from the last known hero if I remember correctly? So with all the language changes, and so much history being lost to the calamity and then possibly further with the upheaval, (although that revealed the history of the zonai so maybe not…) how difficult will it be for Wild to be understood by the chain? My guess is very difficult.
So we’ve got all the other Links who, once they’ve been on this adventure together for a little while, have most of their language barriers worked out and can communicate pretty clearly. Then they arrive in a hyrule that’s in ruins and consumed by beautiful nature as far as the eye can see. And it’s so far in the future and so much history was lost that they’ve basically gotta play charades to get beds at a stable.
Now one of the fics I read had the hilarity of this issue eventually resolved by having Wild know really ancient sheikah. I don’t remember the fic or the author but I remember that much about it and it was a really fun solution!
I’m not saying everyone should utilize language barriers between the chain, I’m just saying that there’s a lot of possibilities it opens up if someone chooses to utilize it and I don’t see it very often

I think there's more room in (alt-world) fantasy to incorporate the language barrier aspect. It's fine and all we can wave away (for the most part) characters from different regions/countries just being able to speak the same language no problem. Characters all being polyglots for plot convenience, whatever, I get it. But. Think about how much potential there is here. Characters that have to work together without being able to communicate! Characters that communicate through interpreters! Characters that work as interpreters!!!

did you see toho is doing a lupin musical??? furukawa yuta is playing arsène, i genuinely can't imagine a better casting!!!
// Yes, I saw the tweet for it last week!!!
I've literally been saying for years that Arsène Lupin has a huge potential for a musical and now it's real??? Looking at the cast/characters, it seems like they're combining Countess of Cagliostro and The Hollow Needle, which would be strange timeline-wise but... it kind of makes sense if you squint since the Hollow Needle is one of the four mysteries mentioned in Cagliostro.
I wish I can go and see it🥺<- doesn't know Japanese
Here is the tweet and their official website for anyone curious.

I do think that the text-based nature of the internet and the fact that inacting real change seems impossible causes people to focus too much on language. Like, I don't think we should change the names of women's health clinics to vaginal health clinics or something. The thought makes me feel gross (and I feel dysphoric when I have to read 100 "womens health" blogs so I get it! but).
It's more important that gyno offices especially are educated on and respectful of trans men. It's less about what words are on the door and more about a trans man's ability to make an appointment in his own name and not get misgendered or accosted at the door. And then treated respectfully by the doctors/nurses/receptionists.
