This is a piece about chronic fatigue although the original idea i had for it drifted a bit as soon as I started coloring the linear #(i really enjoy shading and lighting things and got a bit carried away here but i stand by my choice because this is my favorite thing #that i've ever drawn)#anyways. i often feel especially lately with school being back in season that my bones are leaden with this sort of. weariness. theyre heav #it weighs on our mental health and energy a lot and although there's a couple of reasons we have been given for it #that doesn't remove the fact that this is still a thing that affects us in a very real way day to day although we are good at masking it.#often i come home to find that i do not have the physical mental or creative energy to work on things i really want to #especially project: nexus which i feel extra bad about even though i can't help it because i just started it so recently #it is a mild to moderate struggle to make it day to day and i just. wanted to represent this somehow #my original concept for this was a skeleton with some black goop gunk whatever leaking from its joints #but as i started adding the cracks and coloring them gold (a personal touch; kintsugi is a concept that is very dear to us)#i realized that the focus here was less on the condition itself and more on the body that it afflicts.#so i put it into a spotlight.#ironic i know since very little people acknowledge this irl or even know it exists at all but i added rim lighting. I added color gradients #I colored the lineart and made it all fancy and even added a flare for the head to get the point across that even at its core; disability i #a performance. this is not implying that disabilities are fake in fact this is the opposite of that. i wanted to show that with disabilitie #especially i think in my personal opinion the invisible ones #we are all masking at least a little bit during the vast majority of the day. humans are social creatures and it is only when we are alone #or with someone we deeply trust where we allow ourselves to be who we truly are without fear and even then that can be rare #so i wanted to show this bit of the soul in as broad a limelight as i could. idk this is a really abstract piece and i dont know if anyone #will even get it but it matters to me at least. and even though we've been largely bedridden for the past week i think that's okay #we will get it figured out. all of us. okay? okay. i love you. i fucking love you. we are going to fucking make it #(also the xes over the eyes are because i thought they looked cool they have no deeper meaning at least i think they dont #actually i think they do but i cant put it into words idk. i can't believe there's still people out there who genuinely think Ochako would "kill Toga on sight" at this point

like, okay, there's the anime-only people who aren't aware of manga developments or are actively avoiding spoilers, and of course there's all the people who clearly stopped giving a shit ages ago (yet somehow still feel completely secure making blanket declarations about a franchise they no longer keep up with???)

but even then, and even if you're not a shipper or just don't like the characters-- how can anyone have ever believed that makes any sense ever? like we're not even talking self-defense apparently? just "on sight"? who do you think Ochako is, the Punisher in pink?

like i don't think i'm especially media literate myself, but-- how is it possible for people to be this bad at reading where a narrative is going?

because of course that's exactly what the Togachako plotline was leading up to, clearly the ultimate endpoint of developing Toga Himiko as a sympathetic villain important to Ochako's heroic actualization was a teenager unquestioningly enacting the extrajudicial murder of another teenager

that's exactly what MHA is all about, right? that's the sort of person Ochako is, the kind of hero that she wants to be? that's definitely good storytelling and not at all inane or grotesque? ugh

i mean it when i say we've gotta bring back askblogs. bring back making character chat posts with poor choice text colors over random backgrounds. bring back blogs dedicated to what outfits you think characters would wear.

fandom is an ecosystem, not a numbers game. these types of blogs/posts/etc still exist in concept, because people still want to make them and they're a great way to get your thoughts of an idea out in a simple format, but most people make them on like tiktok or instagram reels and that's where the problem lies. Those videos don't go anywhere. The format doesn't allow for the discussion to spread through the community and they're less likely to be engaged with in general. And to make them most people have to either show their face or figure out editing software, so the barrier to entry is higher (editing) and/or they have to forfeit an amount of privacy.

those types of posts/blogs are the first rung of the ecosystem. they're the perfect environment for younger members of the fandom to begin safely interacting with the larger community and putting their own thoughts and ideas out there. roleplay is the other major spot for that and those communities are diminishing as well, honestly (if you know of an rp forum board site, cherish it. and if you can make one, make one). they allow younger fans to begin engaging with the source material on a different/deeper level, but still at a very low barrier to entry, and begin conversations with other fans, which also helps them build skills which in turn may encourage them to pursue other avenues within the fandom (fic writing, other formats of askblog - which itself usually leads to art, cosplay, also fic writing, etc). Without those places to build those skills, they might feel discouraged from trying to begin when surrounded by curated people who have built their skills up for years.

And those conversations they foster also in turn help the community, by offering ideas to artists or fic writers to extrapolate on or building community jokes. And that text/blog format specifically is extremely beneficial, because it allows younger members of the fandom to remain anonymous and keep their privacy without concerning themselves with having any platform or having anything attached to them (very important for young fans figuring themselves out and navigating online community spaces for the first time, since they can remove themselves from spaces easily if they decide they don't like it and they're protected, rather than PUTTING THEIR FACE ON THE INTERNET). And those posts they make will spread a lot more into the community since they're in a significantly easier format to be reposted (few people are gonna be reposting tons of random short-form videos versus spamming their instagrams with reposts of 10 random fandom images yoinked from tumblr, or reposting to pinterest or something). Like, don't repost art, at the VERY least don't repost without credit, but also I am not ignorant to the fact that my art is not just the first google image result for "pjo pride" and related searches, but also the 4th, the 6th, the 9th, the 10th, the 11th, etc etc., and pops up in the search results before the official ReadRiordan does simply because people reposted my work more (most with credit, thankfully).

For fandom to be a community, it needs to perpetuate itself. There needs to be engagement with one another and conversation. If that bottom rung is cut off, then new fans won't be able to grow into the other niches of the fandom, and the fandom will be solely reliant on the source material and die out extremely quickly, and there won't be a community. There's no conversation! There's no reason to stay beyond the original material! But if you don't have points of entry for new fans, they won't have any way to build the skills needed to move into those niches, or engage with the community in a healthy way.

tl;dr: Bring back askblogs and character-based text post blogs. They are vital to fandom ecosystem.

#fandom #long post //#i know many people jest about tumblr posts being reposted often to other social media #but there's a reason for that! because few other social media these days are primarily text-based! and tumblr is a BLOGGING website!#we're built for sharing random essays! which means we have a LOT of word-heavy stuff #that other platforms can really only have in a different format - usually either image or video - due to character limits #and videos - even short form video - is far less engaged with because it takes more time to interact with #and short form videos of this nature ^ are usually only reposted in like. long-form video format compilations #which are pretty equally if not even less frequently interacted with #because most of those other social media platforms dont have good ways to easily share posts en mass like tumblr's reblog function #so even if those posts do get shared they rarely go far and even if they do they dont stick around #i also personally dont think it's coincidental that general fandom attitude shifts occurred circa 2016-2018 #around the same time as the major shift away from tumblr due to the bans #anyways if you run one of those types of blogs i respect you immensely #you are underappreciated but you fulfill an important ecological niche #also i know rp blogs are still a thing but theyre much more scarce and rp communities in general are drying up

Last night there was a bunch of lore happening, especially for the Spanish speakers and even through I wasn't there for the whole thing, I've been reading up what happened, so I'm going to make a quick summary of the situation right now for the English speakers :)

GENERAL LORE

Basically? Tomorrow on Sunday 2nd we're having some sort of event happening. We don't know the details, but it seems it'll be lore relevant and might involve Osito Bimbo/Cucurucho.

Quackity was off stream doing many things. He told the others he didn't trust Cucurucho and that it seems like they have something more going on than just asking questions. He also interviewed Fit, Vegetta and Roier about their experience communicating with the other community. Finally, he also convinced Fit to join him in a criminal group.

SPANISH LORE

This one's great, guys, it's a fucking telenovela right now. After the events from last day, Roier seems to be going through a villain arc right now.

He told Missa about Spreen's and Quackity's betrayal and how Spreen killed his dog and Missa's cat. Missa didn't believe him, though, and he blamed everything on Roier. After calming down, Missa admitted he doesn't want to fight with Roier, but he can't accept what happened, so he has decided to investigate the truth of the events.

The damage was already done, however, and Roier feels abandoned by all of his closest friends. He only trusts Vegetta and Mariana right now, and he wants revenge, so he went over to Vegetta and asked for his help. Vegetta accepted, but he doesn't want to know who they're attacking. He also has memories from his past life in Karmaland, btw.

And that's the situation right now. Roier is pretending to still be friends with everyone until he can have his revenge, something is happening tomorrow that might involve Cucurucho, and there's a lot of chaos going on.

#oh also Mariana's and Foolish' chicken son died in an explosion caused by Luzu's landmine #that was sad #QSMP #honestly i love the amount of chaos going on and we're barely on day 10 #i hope more members of the English community streamed more often tho #so far it seems only Foolish and Fit are around at all. much less when lore happens #but it's still fun anyway #anyway hope this helped people who aren't sure what the current lore is #soratsu speaks

hey sorry for the stupid question but what is the weather like in australia? I used to think it was really hot there most of the year but when chanlix or skz are filming in australia it's not that sunny and it's it doesn't look like it's really hot either lol

Climate change gets the best of us </3 skz has only ever visited Melbourne and Sydney, these are both south eastern states so unlike say Western Australia or the Northern Territory or even Queensland, we aren't as hot as they are- contrary to the image of Australia that tends to exist I.e literal desert in the outback, we get winter and we get rain, it's autumn right now and today's forecasted temp is 27°c so... that's not exactly cold, but it's not always hot? It's all over the place lol

Oh my god okay so we all remember this part of Hollow Mind, right?

This obviously means that the rest of the grimwalkers, while maybe sharing traits with Caleb, didn’t look as identical to him as Hunter does.

Now I’m no biologist but I have a basic understanding of punnet squares. Our phenotypes are more or less randomly selected during fertilization and they’re passed from parents to kid. And if you have the same parents as your siblings, then you’re more likely to look like them or share traits with them. The only reason you have different traits is because there are so many to choose from and hey, you have brown hair and your sibling has blonde. That’s just how it turned out but you still carry the genes for blonde hair (not a perfect example but we’re also talking about a magical world so whatever)

What if one day Belos was making a new grimwalker. It’s no big deal; He’s done this about a dozen times now. Every single one is looking less and less like him, and Belos is getting increasingly frustrated. He keeps them around because, well, Caleb only had 206 bones and he can only make so many grimwalkers. Might as well manipulate the ones you have, right?

Belos completes the ritual and he stands at the head of the grave as the grimwalker sits up straight from the dirt.

And it’s the striking image of teenage Philip.

He kills that one quickly and doesn’t make another for a while. (Tags)

#found out today that 2 of my coworkers went behind my back..#they arranged for themselves to work less on saturdays while i still have to work 9 hour shifts 🙃#nobody told me about about it or let me join the conversation #obviously we all hate working long saturdays but the fact that they only arranged shorter hours for themselves is such a slap in the face #i feel betrayed disappointed and angry all at the same time #i thought we were supposed to be a team but clearly not #everyone only cares about themselves and their own interests #i feel so stupid rn they left me completely in the dark about this #i just noticed in the work schedule that they often only have to work short saturdays while i'm still planned for the entire day 🤡#asked my colleague who does the schedules about it and she told me those 2 arranged that with management #lol thanks for letting me know 😀#now i know why my dad loves working alone like fuck these fake bitches!!!!#☁️

there is actually something wrong with me and that's also fine??

like when i was a kid/teenager with several health, mood, and developmental issues, it was years and years and years of being told "nothing's wrong with you, that's normal, everybody does that, you'll grow out of it, you're just a normal kid" and then look at that, i grew into an adult with several health, mood, and developmental issues

normal is fake, "normal" is a set of ever-moving goal posts set by any given person/group at any given moment to justify why they feel disgust or revulsion or pity or shame, normal isn't real

and also, there's shit that i actually legitimately struggle with that causes me a lot of stress and distress that are things innate within myself that will never change, some of which, in fact, will get worse as i age, and they're things that other people don't have to deal with

a lot of these things could have been mitigated when i was younger if somebody had just listened to me with the intent to help me instead of just to shut me up

no, it was always the insistence that i was normal, that nothing was wrong, then, further, that i was making it up, that i was just looking for attention

and maybe a lot of how i expressed myself was looking for attention, but when you're in pain all the time and feeling more like a gutted pig than a human and the people you're supposed to trust with your life tell you that nothing is wrong with you and go back to ignoring you, what else could you try to get but some fucking attention?

so anyway, there is something wrong with me, several somethings, and i'm unraveling a bit more each day (in some very good and cathartic ways, some very truthful, painful, and growing ways) and figuring out how to actually care for all of the little parts of me that are trying to get my attention, and i don't think any of that is a bad thing

#nothing wrong with normal #normal's great #“that's a normal emotional response to that kind of situation” = very validating to hear and often immediately reduces panic #okay caveats over #been feeling particularly crazy these days and i am tired of pretending that's a bad thing???#i'm managed i'm healthy i'm talking to my therapist and taking care of myself #there's still shit that comes up that i truly cannot handle #anyway i'm less concerned about being normal and more concerned about being abnormal and treated with dignity
