you have to go to work so you can pay for your doctor, who is not taking your insurance right now, and if you say i can't afford the doctor's you are told - get a better job. it is very sad that you are unwell, yes, but maybe you should have thought about that before not having a better job.
(where is the better job? who is giving out these better jobs? you are sick, you are hurting - how the hell are you supposed to be well enough for this better job?)
but you go to the doctor because you had the nerve to be hurt or sick or whatever else. and they tell you that it is because you have anxiety. you try your best. you are a self-advocate. you've done the reading (which sometimes pisses them off worse, honestly). you say it is actually adding to my anxiety, it is effecting my quality of life. so they say that you are fat. they say that all young people have this happen to them, isn't it a medical marvel! they say that you should eat more vegetables. they say that you probably just need to lose a little more weight, and that you are faking it for attention.
(what attention could this doctor possibly give? what validation? that's their fucking job, isn't it?)
there is always a hypochondriac, right. someone always tells you about a hypochondriac. or someone who is unnecessarily aggressive during the worst days of their life. or someone looking "for a quick fix". or some idiot who wasn't educated about how to properly care for themselves who just abandons their treatment. and again, the hypochondriac, the overly-cautious hysteric. these people don't deserve to be treated like humans (right), and since you might be one of these people, you also don't get treated like a human. because those people can really fuck with the system, you now have to pay for it. and besides. you're actually probably faking it.
(more often than not, you find a 2:1 ratio of these stories. for every "hypochondriac", there are 2 people who knew something was wrong, and yet nobody could fucking find it. the story often ends with pointless suffering. the story often ends with and now it's too late, and it's going to kill me.)
you are actually just making excuses. someone else got that procedure or that diagnosis and he's fine, you should be fine too. someone else said they watched a documentary about other inspirational people with your exact same condition, maybe you should be inspirational, too. you're just too morbid. your pain and your experience is probably just not statistically concerning. it is all self-reported anyway, and you're just being a baby.
(once, while sitting down in the middle of making coffee, you had the sudden, horrible thought - i could kill myself to make the pain stop. you had to call your best friend after that. had to pet your dog. had to cry about it in the shower. you won't, but that moment - god, fuck. the pain just goes on and on.)
you know someone who went in for routine surgery and said i still feel everything. they told her to just relax. it took her kicking and screaming before they figured out she wasn't lying - the anesthetic drip hadn't been working. you know someone who went in for severe migraines who was told drink water and lose weight. you know someone who was actively bleeding out and throwing up in the ER and was told you're just having a bad period.
in the ER there are always these little posters saying things like "don't wait! get checked today!" and you think about how often you do wait. how often the days spool out. you once waited a full week before seeing the doctor for what you thought was a sprained wrist. it had actually been broken - they had to rebreak it to set it.
but you go into the doctor. the problem you're having is immediate. the person behind the counter frowns and says we're not taking your insurance. you will be paying for this out-of-pocket.
they send you home with tylenol and a little health packet about weight loss or anxiety or attention deficit. on the front it has your birthday and diagnosis. you think about crying, and the words swim. it might as well say go fuck yourself. it might as well say you're a fucking idiot. it might as well say light your money on fire and lie down in it. and the entire fucking time - the problem persists.
it's okay. it's okay, it's just another thing, you think. it's just another thing i have to learn to live with.
#spilled ink#warm up#can you tell what i'm mad about today specifically#i will say that there are a LOT of things that go into this. like a lot. this is ungendered and unspecific for a reason#it isn't just sexism. it's also racism. and ableism. and honestly classism.#and before a healthcare professional reads this as a personal attack: i understand ur burnt out#we are ALSO burnt out. your situation is also dire. this is not an attack on you.#this is a commentary on the incredible amounts of bigotry that lie at the heart of capitalism#where people have to pay money out of pocket to be told to fuck off.#your job is important. so is our humanity. and if you cannot accept that people are fucking mad as hell#at the industry - you are probably not listening .#anyway at some point im gonna write a piece about sexism specifically in medical shit#but i don't want terfs clowning in it bc they can't understand nuance#> it is true that ppl w/a uterus are more likely to experience medical malpractice & dismissal globally#> it is also true that trans people experience an equally fucked up and bad time in the medical field#> great news! the medical industrial complex is an equal opportunity life ruiner :)#(if you find it necessary to go into a debate about biology while discussing medical malpractice#i want to warn you that you're misunderstanding the issue. because guess what.#cis MEN might experience this. particularly black men. particularly disabled men.#so YES having a uterus can lead to more trouble for you. but this happens a LOT.#instead of fighting those ALSO experiencing your pain.... try working WITH them.#which btw. is like. actual feminism.)

The Future of Cyber n Security is Here - Nolij Consulting
Companies are investing in new technology to provide better customer experience, support remote working and create more value. These technologies can also be used for other purposes like automating processes, improving work efficiency and creating a better work environment by cybersecurity and infrastructure security agency.
Tumblr media
With the increased use of digital services, businesses are becoming more interconnected and prone to cyberattacks.
Nowadays, we are all connected to a myriad of digital services. From banking, to shopping, and from social media to e-commerce - our lives depend on these services. At the same time, these services provide a gateway for hackers to enter into our lives and steal our personal data or money.
Hackers are not just after stealing information or money anymore - they want access to your life. This means that they will go after your bank account, credit card information and anything else that can give them access to your personal life.
The interconnectedness of digital services has led us into an age where cyberattacks are prevalent and growing at an alarming rate.
Fortunately, there have been several developments in cybersecurity that will help organizations to better protect themselves and their customers.
Growing Threat of Ransomware
Ransomware is a type of malicious software that blocks access to the computer system it infects, then demands a ransom payment in order to decrypt the data and provide access again. Ransomware can be installed on your computer by clicking on a link in an email or instant message that takes you to a website where the malware is automatically downloaded. This type of malware is typically found in social engineering scams, where hackers send messages that appear to come from someone you know, like your bank or credit card company.
Growth Of Artificial Intelligence (AI)
The use of artificial intelligence in cybersecurity is growing at an exponential rate. With the use of AI, cybersecurity professionals can detect and respond to cyber threats more efficiently than before.
Cybersecurity professionals have to deal with a lot of different cyber threats on a daily basis and with the help of AI, they are able to detect these threats much faster than humans.
AI has been used in many different ways to help improve detection and response times for cybersecurity professionals. For example, some companies have started using AI for perimeter defence and threat hunting.
Some companies are also using AI for malware analysis and malware detection.
Lastly, some other companies are using AI for security analytics which includes anomaly detection, incident response, and data protection among others.
Cloud Security
The cloud is a type of network that stores data on remote servers, rather than on a company’s own servers.
The reason why companies choose to store their data in the cloud is because it usually costs less, and it allows them to access their information from any location. However, these benefits come with some risks. For example, if hackers break into one of the servers where your company’s data is stored, they can have access to all your information and can even change or delete it without you knowing about it.
Nolij Cybersecurity Services

Whether or not the adage that chronic stress is as bad as smoking is or true or not, hearing that and knowing that a huge stress factor is often one's continued financial, housing, and food security really should radicalize more people. The idea of stress being damaging to long and short-term health should make you stop and wonder what contributes to stress in the first place, and if preventative measures would inevitably be a net benefit to the overall health and wellbeing of everybody

crumbs of a story im writing
Tumblr media
clumsy rookie news photographer chasing after a gentleman thief to start an advice column ^_^
the thiefs legit job as a librarian doesnt pay enough to cover his rent (not enough public funding?), so he steals from rich politicians.
he kind of sees it as "hitting two birds with one stone," since the politicans are more interested in infrastructure than public funding anyway, and they have more than enough money so he doesn't feel bad doing it
since its done out of necessity, the thief is extremely meticulous and plans out his thefts. but hes also a theatre kid, so he makes a costume and more or less garners the attention of the community
the rookie is a newspaper photographer who has been following the thief for some time and has grown to admire him
the newspaper he works for is community oriented (organizing events and programs, advocating for the public) and believes the thief shares similar values
basically he proposes to start an advice column with the thief to build a rapport with the community, with the goal of winning over the public
the thief is hesitant because he's really only doing it for himself and doesnt want to get anyone else involved, but the rookie tells him to think of it as a way of helping everyone
the rest is kinda fuzzy.. i wanted to touch on community effort and public interests. I don't know if this will be the kind of story that encourages people to take action, I don't see myself as being any kind of model citizen. for now I'm just focused on pouring all my thoughts and faith in humanity into a story setting

If China is socialist, then what has it socialised? I heard from people in the country that medical & healthcare aren't among the things that have seen any socialisation.

it's interesting how the vast majority of the people on this website just don't actually know anything about like the broader internet politics sphere. Like... you see liberal bloggers reblogging articles from The Grayzone about the Israeli genocide in Palestine and then two posts later reblogging something from like. prismatic-bell about how you should vote for 99% hitler or whatever.

I desperately need a study buddy and don't have one, so I used the Healthcare Boys instead. Enjoy the chaos
ACLS studying let's gooooo (I want to scream)
Four wrung his hands nervously as Warriors watched him. The ER nurse said, “Give your team roles.”
Glancing at his friends, Four tried to remember the different roles in the team dynamic section he’d studied. Wild, Legend, Hyrule, Wind, and Twilight all watched him expectantly. Four divided the team fairly quickly as the roles came back to his memory, making Wild the time keeper since he wouldn’t be able to help much in any other way, putting Wind at the airway (he was thrilled), Twilight as the one to do compressions, Legend on the defibrillator, and Hyrule giving medications.
With the roles divvied out, the team took a step back so the scenario could begin. Sky was sprawled on the floor, his head propped up with some pillows for comfort’s sake. He smiled at Four reassuringly.
“You got this,” he said.
Warriors cleared his throat. “All right. You’re the nurse for a… twenty? Sky, you’re twenty, right?”
“Twenty-one.”
Warriors blinked. “When did that—I can’t believe I forgot your birthday!”
Sky shrugged sheepishly. “I wasn’t here yet.”
Wind gasped. “You turned twenty-one and we missed it?”
“Tell me you at least had a good birthday,” Legend piped up.
Sky shrugged sheepishly. “It was okay?”
“What did you do?” Wind questioned immediately.
“I, uh… looked at places to rent and then just kind of slept.”
Four frowned. “That’s a pretty sad birthday.”
“We’re doing a make-up birthday,” Wild immediately said.
Sky jolted. “Wait, guys, you don’t have—"
“Agreed,” everyone chimed in.
Sky sighed.
“Well, with that settled,” Warriors continued on. “Four, you’re the nurse for a twenty-one-year-old patient who presented with angina. When you walk into the room to check on him, you find him lying on his bed looking lethargic, pale, and clammy. He was A/Ox4 the last time you spoke with him and just complained of a little chest discomfort. Begin.”
Sky slumped back onto the pillows in an effort to follow Warriors’ story. Four knelt beside him. “Okay… so… Sky, can you hear me?”
Popping an eye open to glance at Warriors for guidance, Sky watched the ER nurse nod and then spoke to Four. “Yes.”
“Okay, so my patient’s responsive to verbal stimulation,” Four reported, sliding a hand to Sky’s neck to check his pulse. Sky squeaked and tucked his chin to trap Four’s fingers and prevent them from moving, making the ICU nurse laugh. “And my patient’s ticklish.”
“I have a pulse, I swear,” Sky giggled, swatting Four’s hand away playfully.
“It’s weak, though,” Warriors added as he bit back a chuckle of his own.
“Okay, so his pulse is weak, I’m gonna get other vitals on him,” Four thought out loud.
“BP 88/46, SpO2 90%, respiratory rate 12, he’s pale, cool, clammy, and complaining of chest pain,” Warriors supplied.
“My chest hurts,” Sky said helpfully. Legend choked back a snort.
“I’m gonna give him oxygen,” Four said first, prioritizing his ABCs. “2L nasal cannula. I want a 12-lead.”
“It shows ST elevation in leads V1 and V2 with reciprocal depression in aVL.”
Four squinted, trying to parse it out. He hated trying to interpret 12-leads, he was absolutely garbage at it. He knew that ST elevation with reciprocal depression was automatic criteria for a STEMI, but trying to remember which lead indicated which part of the heart… “Is that… anterior?”
“Your 12-lead interpretation reads out that an MI is suspected with anterior involvement,” Warriors answers.
“That doesn’t sound good,” Sky commented.
“You’re going to be fine,” Four assured him. “We’re going to give him 324mg of aspirin to chew. His BP is too low for nitro. I’m gonna call for cardiology to deal with this.”
“There you go,” Legend cheered with a smile, crossing his arms. “Make him cardiology’s problem.”
“Cath lab is full and busy,” Warriors quipped.
Sky glanced at Four uncertainly and then shrugged. “Sorry. I’ll try to die slowly.”
Legend finally laughed at that, as did Wild and Wind. Twilight groaned.
“Your patient’s vomiting now,” Warriors added.
“Oh.” Sky glanced between Wars and Four. “Um. Blegh.”
Four tried his best not to cackle as he said, “I’m going to turn him on his side and suction his airway.”
“He goes unresponsive.”
Sky closed his eyes with a yawn.
“Does he yawn too?” Legend asked.
Warriors shot him a flat look before saying, “Yes, your STEMI patient is quite sleepy. But also unresponsive.”
“I’m going to call for help,” Four remarked, motioning for the others to join him. “And I’m going to check for pulse and if he’s breathing.”
“No pulse, not breathing. Your team has arrived to assist you.”
Four took a step back as he started ordering the others. “Twilight, start chest compressions. Wind, bag him, one breath every six seconds. Give the breath slowly until you see chest rise. Twi, make sure your compressions are between 100-120 per minute, with 2 inches of depth and allowing for full recoil. Legend, get the monitor and put the limb leads and pads on him. Wild—”
Wild whipped out a notepad and his phone. “Timekeeping, got it. CPR started at 2001.”
Nodding, Four glanced at Legend, who was staring at a cardboard box flipped upside down with the letters “AED” written in black marker.
“This is the defibrillator?” Legend asked.
“Don’t insult my creative work,” Wind snapped from where he knelt at Sky’s head.
“It’s an AED for starters,” Legend remarked. “I can’t do much with that.”
Rolling his eyes, Wind rose, grabbed the marker, and went to the box, scribbling out AED and writing below it “BETTER MONITOR THAN AED.”
“Happy?”
Legend sighed. “This is the most ghetto hospital I’ve ever worked in.”
Sky outright laughed as Twi tickled his neck, both distracted by the argument.
“All right, all right,” Warriors interjected to settle everyone. “Come on, Sky’s still coding here.”
Wind went back to Sky’s head, poking his forehead as his friend bit his lip to stop giggling. Twi had a hand resting on his chest as a physical indicator that he was doing compressions while Hyrule hovered beside Wild.
Legend stared scrutinously at the cardboard box. “Monitor’s on, pads are on. What rhythm we got?”
Warriors pulled out a rhythm strip he’d printed, letting Four look at it.
Okay, he told himself. You got this.
Basic rhythm interpretation started with basic questions: Was the rhythm fast or slow? Was there a P for every QRS complex? Was it regular or irregular?
This one was quite easy to recognize, however, as it was very distinct. Completely chaotic and disorganized, nothing recognizable in sight, just squiggly lines.
“He’s in v-fib,” Four interpreted. “Ledge, charge to 120J and shock him.”
Legend poked the box, announcing his actions, and Four glanced at Twi and Wind. “You two swap places so you don’t get tired out.”
“Charged and ready.” Legend reported.
“Okay, everyone clear the patient.”
“Delivering shock.”
“Wind, get to chest compressions,” Four ordered, and Wind poked Sky in response.
Wild scribbled on his notebook. “CPR started at 2001, shock delivered at 2002.”
“One minute and forty-five seconds have passed,” Warriors said, waving a hand. “One minute and forty-five seconds into this cycle. What do you want to do?”
“Pre-charge the defibrillator.”
“Correct. It’s time to analyze again. You see the same rhythm.”
“Okay, we’ll shock again,” Four noted. “Charge to 150J. Twi and Wind, swap again. Hyrule, push 1mg epi, and continue to do so every 3-5 minutes.”
“Charged. Clearing the patient and delivering the shock.”
“Second shock delivered at 2004.”
“Two more minutes have passed,” Warriors interrupted. “Same rhythm.”
“Ledge, charge to 200J. Hyrule, give amiodarone 300mg.”
After the third shock was delivered, Warriors indicated another rhythm check and said they had what looked like an organized rhythm. With a pulse check, they confirmed that they had successfully gotten ROSC.
“Okay, so I want vital signs, I want to establish a better airway—so Wind you need to intubate Sky—and I want to call for consult, consider target temperature therapy, get labs and a chest x-ray.”
Warriors smiled. “Good job, Four.”
Sky smiled as Wind whooped in delight. “Mega code completed! We got him back!”
