Corrine (Elliot Stabler x OFC)
Organized Crime-centric, follows the same plot as s1 but Kathy is alive and well and divorced from Elliot so that means Eli was never born. No offense to him, I have nothing against him, it would’ve been a lot to add in and I was working on this for over a week
WARNINGS: DEATH OF PARENTS, MENTIONS OF COVID-19, TALKS OF THERAPY, NIGHTMARES, ALLUSIONS TO MENTAL HEALTH ISSUES
After all the legal proceedings, the funeral, and the back and forth with his brother-in-law’s family, Elliot was finally the legal guardian of his late sister Bridget’s fifteen year old daughter Corrine St. Vincent. The pandemic hit a few months after they had come back to New York from Bordeaux, France, so as Corrine was getting used to a new school in a new country, that said country went on lockdown. After almost a year later, the country was getting back to normal (or normal as can be), Elliot had the all clear to go back to work, and Corrine alternated between going to school online and in-person. Corrine preferred online better; she didn’t have friends at school to miss except for the ones in Bordeaux, she didn’t have to change out of her pajamas, and best of all, she had the apartment to herself. Corrine could cook dinner, order lunch, read and go for a walk, all in the same break sometimes if she felt like going for a walk after lunch.
Today, it was an online day for Corrine; the school day was over and she was in the middle of outlining a report for history class when she heard her uncle’s key in the door. “Bonsoir Oncle Elliot, pizza is on the way.” The smile dropped from her face when she saw her uncle’s appearance; he looked more exhausted than he usually did as he removed his jacket. “What’s wrong? Did something happen?” He sat down on the couch and patted the place next to him.
“We uh, we found the person who killed your parents. It was Angela. She ordered the hit on your parents.” Corrine’s blood ran cold; Angela Wheatley, the woman who brought her and her uncle groceries while grieving the death of her parents, who talked about books with her and gave recommendations. The woman who she teased about her uncle having a crush on. The woman who they let into their home during the most vulnerable time in their lives. “Are--are you sure it was her?”
From the look on her uncle’s face, he was absolutely sure. “Why would she, how could she? She knew all this time and just smiled in our faces?” Corrine began speaking rapid French, tears gathering at the corners of her eyes; Elliot couldn’t make out anything except for a few swear words, and she was gesturing with her arms and hands. He didn’t try to console her, didn’t tell her to calm down, because he knew that she had to get the anger, the frustration, the hurt out of her system. He knew it was only a matter of time before she would break because there’s only so much a teenage girl can take: losing both parents at the same time, bitter custody battle with family, moving to a country and living with an uncle she only sees twice a year on top of dealing with school during a pandemic.
Elliot held the girl close as the anger ran out and she was just sobbing, and he could feel her body tremble. The two of them ate dinner that night, Corrine only taking sips of her soda and picking the pepperoni off her pizza and pushing them to the side of her plate. It was only when they were watching some superhero movie on tv after dinner when Elliot decided to say something. “Corrine, I want you to see a therapist.” She didn’t know what to say or how to respond.
The only thing that came out of her mouth was, “Pourquoi?” Elliot sat his drink down on the coffee table and looked at her, really looked at her. Her eyes were still red from crying not to mention that she had bags under them, probably because of her not sleeping well at night. Sometimes she’d wake up in the middle of the night, crying and shaking and Elliot would have to rock her back to sleep. Other times, when Elliot would come home from work, he’d find the bookshelves rearranged according to subject matter, book color, alphabetical order or whatever mood Corrine would be in.
Sometimes he often wondered if he was dealing with another Kathleen. “Please, just do this one thing for me?” Over the past few months, Corrine had been very easy to live with; she always did what she was told with no back talk, in fact her teachers said “she’s an absolute pleasure to have in class” and “a model student”. The only complaints her teachers had was that she doesn’t interact with the other kids outside the classroom. “I’m just worried about you, Cori, it’s not good for you to keep things bottled up.”
Yeah, Elliot knew he was the last person to talk about therapy and keeping things bottled up, but Cori is a ticking time bomb and he wanted to diffuse the explosion. Corrine had no choice but to go along with it, one condition. “Fine. But you have to do it with me. Maman was your sister. You’re probably hurting just as much as I am.” Bridget was his baby sister, the youngest in the family and younger than Elliot by five years; he walked her down the aisle when she got married, hell, he was even there when Cori was born (Marc was out of town for work and Bridget wasn’t supposed to be due for another three weeks). Even though Bridget had lived in a different country for over a decade, they were still close, the closest out the rest of their siblings.
Elliot has a copy of a picture the day Bridget was brought home from the hospital on his bedside table. Elliot was five, and he was sitting on the couch and he had his arms bent to support the sleeping baby and he was smiling up at the camera. If going to therapy himself meant that Cori would do it, then he’d do it to ease her worries. “Okay, I’ll do it, and I want you to be completely honest with the doctor.” Corrine nodded, and they finished the movie.
When the movie was over, he sent her to bed. Of course, he had that last part about honesty for himself, Elliot would have to bare his soul to someone who wasn’t his partner, romantic or work wise, and that would be difficult. He even had difficulty talking about the things he saw at SVU with Kathy, which is why they divorced. As he slept on the couch that night, and he wondered briefly wondered if it was too late for him to back out.

Duality of (a) Woman
On some days for Ayanna Bell, the threshold to her home was a marker where she shed her skin and became someone else. The icy confidence and take-no-prisoners attitude that she pulled on each time she went to work for Manhattan's Organized Crime unit was unnecessary in the plainness of the home she shared with Denise - and now their baby boy.
Ayanna was all strut and rough exterior on the way out the door, then just a momma and wife on the way back in. She liked it that way, and that was just how it was on Christmas morning, as she slipped quietly home in the filtered light of pre-dawn.
The apartment was as silent as the snow-covered forest of a fairy tale. As she came down the hall carrying her shoes in one hand, she found Denise sleeping on the couch, one of Jackson's baby blankets clutched to her chest. On the coffee table there was a Christmas platter laid out with cookies for Santa, and a glass of milk.
The baby was just six months old - obviously too small to understand the story of Santa Claus, but Denise had insisted she wouldn't skip anything for the boy's very first Christmas. So Ayanna made sure to leave some cookie crumbs on the plate as she took a couple, nibbling them soundlessly as she drifted in the direction of the tree.
They had decorated it together, in lights and red plaid ribbons, alongside dangling ornaments just like she remembered from her childhood. It whispered and twinkled in the dawn, waiting for its one morning of the year to show off. Finishing her cookies, Ayanna ran her fingertips over the branches, deep in her reverie.
When the spell was broken, she went to Jackson's crib to find him already awake; he babbled at his crib toys contentedly, every now and then grabbing a foot and pulling it to his mouth.
"Merry Christmas, my big man," Ayanna smiled, picking him up. "What d'you say we make your momma some Christmas breakfast?"
She changed his diaper, dressing him in a little Santa outfit that they'd picked specifically for Christmas day, then padded back out to the kitchen. Jackson sat in his high chair, watching Ayanna with bright, curious eyes as she got ingredients together to cook French toast.
In the living room, Denise was still sleeping peacefully.
Ayanna hummed Christmas music softly and bopped about as she worked, every now and then getting a gurgling giggle out of the baby. With the frying pan turned down low and the coffee dripping, she pulled him into her arms, swaying, still humming, carrying him to where their stockings were tacked to the wall.
"See that? That's for you!" she whispered to him, pointing to the red sock that had a teddy bear face at the top bearing a Santa hat. "Santa brought that for you!"
Behind them, Denise suddenly spoke: "Now here's a nice scene to wake up to. I'd complain less if I could wake up to it more often."
Ayanna turned to her wife's teasing smile and crossed to pass Jackson down into her arms. "You'd complain less, and we'd eat less," she returned, planting a warm kiss on her mouth. "Gotta pay them bills!"
"Who eats breakfast before opening presents on Christmas, anyway?" Denise asked, pressing her fingertip into Jackson's plump mouth for him to suck on.
"Hungry six month old baby boys, for one," Ayanna chuckled. "People who work all night." She made her point by snagging a piece of bacon from the pan.
Her wife merely rolled her eyes as she adjusted her shirt to give the baby her breast. With him latched, she crossed to the kitchen, rocking him gently as she watched Ayanna get the food ready for the table. Back and forth she crossed, bringing plates, forks, mugs of coffee - sneaking glances every now and then at where Jackson and Denise were connected. Ayanna was awed by the duality, of a place that gave her such pleasure also being the place their son was most comforted.
When he seemed to be done, Denise settled him back in the high chair and pulled it over to the table where they sat. Breakfast was hot and delicious, and they made smiling smalltalk across the table as they devoured it. The little one followed the bites to their mouths with curious big eyes, hands smacking the tray in front of him to express his eagerness to share in their food and language.
When he could take their ambivalence no longer, Jackson let out a shriek that startled both women. They turned their heads to him.
"Mummummum!" he said loudly.
Ayanna and Denise looked back at one another with wide, surprised eyes.
"Did he just - " Ayanna giggled, excited.
"I think he did!"
They clambered to the baby, Ayanna lifting him out and up in her arms. "You just said your first word! You just called me Mom!"
Denise frowned, confused. "Wait. You? I thought he was calling me Mom?"
Her wife tipped her head. "No, we said you were going to be Momma ... "
"I - " Denise put her hands on her hips, "But I've been referring to myself as 'Mom' when I talk to him around the house and stuff!"
"Well, I've been referring to you as 'Momma'!"
They went silent for another moment, looking from Jackson to each other, unsure how to proceed.
"What were you trying to say, little guy - Mom? Or Momma?" Ayanna asked.
"What difference does it make if we don't even know which one of us he thinks is which?!" Denise groaned.
She shrugged. "Maybe he wasn't trying to say either - he is only six months old, Dee."
The baby put his head to Ayanna's shoulder and blinked sleepily. Behind them, presents sparkled under the tree, crying out to be opened. She leaned over and kissed Denise softly.
"Merry Christmas. Let's open some gifts before we lose little Santa's attention."
Denise smiled and nodded. "I guess for today we can both be Mom and Momma."

THE GOLDEN TOUCH
January 17, 1951
Tumblr media
“The Golden Touch" is a modern re-telling of the King Midas story with Jack Benny and his friends as King Midas and his court. It was directed by Robert F. Mansfield, written by Robert Hugh O’Sullivan and with Harry Zimmerman as the composer / conductor.
Tumblr media
“Family Theater” was a weekly half-hour dramatic anthology radio program which aired on the Mutual Broadcasting System (MBS) from February 13, 1947, to September 11, 1957. The show was produced by Family Theater Productions, a film and radio studio extension of the Family Rosary Crusade founded by Father Patrick Peyton as a way to promote family prayer. The motto of the the Holy Cross Family Ministries is, "The family that prays together, stays together."
Although the program had no commercial sponsor, Father Peyton arranged for many of Hollywood's biggest stars to appear including James Stewart, Bob Hope, Lucille Ball, Raymond Burr, Jane Wyatt, Charlton Heston, Bing Crosby, Jack Benny, Gene Kelly, William Shatner, and Chuck Connors.
A total of 540 episodes were produced. The program featured not only religious stories but half-hour adaptations of literary works such as A Tale of Two Cities, Moby-Dick and Don Quixote.
Tumblr media
Synopsis ~ Lucille Ball is the hostess and Jack Benny stars as the King obsessed with his gold and counting it. The Queen and her daughter get a Genie to sort the King out. The Genie grants the King one wish and the King tells the Genie that he can always use more gold and asks that everything he touches will turn to gold. Of course this seems exciting at first until he turns the Queen and his daughter in to solid gold.
Tumblr media
The program was repeated on May 23, 1951.
Tumblr media
King Midas is popularly remembered in Greek mythology for his ability to turn everything he touched into gold. This came to be called the golden touch, or the Midas touch.
CAST
Tumblr media
Jack Benny (King Midas) was born on Valentine’s Day 1894. He had a successful vaudeville career, and an even greater career on radio with “The Jack Benny Program” which also became a successful television show. His screen persona was known for being a penny-pincher and playing the violin. Benny was a Beverly Hills neighbor of Lucille Ball’s and the two were off-screen friends. Benny appeared on “The Lucy Show” as Harry Tuttle (a Jack Benny doppelganger) in “Lucy and the Plumber” (TLS S3;E2), later did a voice over cameo as himself in “Lucy With George Burns” (TLS S5;E1), and played himself in “Lucy Gets Jack Benny’s Account” (TLS S6;E6). He was seen in four episodes of “Here’s Lucy.” Benny and Ball appeared on many TV variety and award shows together. He died in 1974, a few weeks after taping “An All-Star Party for Lucille Ball.”
Tumblr media
Lucille Ball (Hostess) was concurrently starring in her own radio comedy “My Favorite Husband” having starred in films from 1933.  In the fall of 1951, Ball and her husband Desi Arnaz launched their iconic television series, “I Love Lucy.”  After her divorce from Arnaz in 1960, Ball starred in two subsequent television series’ - “The Lucy Show” and “Here’s Lucy.” After a series of TV specials, she did one more series in 1986, which was not successful. She died in 1989.
Ted de Corsia (Harvey Benson, Reporter from The Daily Telegram) was an actor in touring companies and on radio before making a memorable film debut as the killer in The Lady from Shanghai (1947). De Corsia's New York street demeanor and gravelly voice assured him steady work playing street thugs, gang leaders or organized-crime bosses. On radio he starred in the CBS series "Pursuit" (1949-50). Two years before he was heard on an episode of “My Favorite Husband” with Lucille Ball.
Barbara Eiler (Princess Imogene) started acting as a teenager and appeared regularly on the radio programs “The Life of Riley,” “A Day in the Life of Dennis Day,” “The Fabulous Dr. Tweedy” and “Glamor Manor." She did a 1948 episode of “My Favorite Husband” with Lucille Ball.
Eleanor Audley (Queen Midas) played Lucille Ball’s mother-in-law on “My Favorite Husband.” She would later play Eleanor Spalding, owner of the Westport home the Ricardos buy in “Lucy Wants To Move to the Country” (ILL S6;E15) in 1957, as well as one of the Garden Club judges in “Lucy Raises Tulips” (ILL S6;E26).
Alan Reed (Matthew the Butler / Tony the Cook) is probably best remembered as the voice of Fred Flintstone. He started his acting career in 1937. He acted opposite Lucille Ball in a 1963 episode of “The Lucy Show” (ILL S1;E25). In 1967, he made an appearance on the Desi Arnaz series “The Mothers-in-Law”. He died in 1977 at the age of 69.
Reed uses an English accent as Matthew and an Italian accent as Tony.
Verna Felton (Molly, Kitchen Help) received two Emmy nominations for her role in the Desilu series “December Bride,” playing Hilda Crocker from 1955 to 1959. She did two episodes of “I Love Lucy,” including playing Lucy’s stern maid, Mrs. Porter. Felton voiced many characters for Disney.
Felton uses an Irish accent as Molly.
Howard McNear (Ipsuda, Magician) played Mr. Crawford, Little Ricky’s music teacher on “I Love Lucy.” McNear went on to play Floyd the Barber on “The Andy Griffith Show” from 1961 to 1967, filmed on the Desilu backlot. He was also seen in Lucy and Desi’s 1953 film The Long, Long Trailer.
Frank Nelson (Genie / Mr. Gene Blue) was born on May 6, 1911 (three months before Lucille Ball) in Colorado Springs, Colorado. He started working as a radio announcer at the age of 15. He later appeared on such popular radio shows as “The Great Gildersleeve,” “Burns and Allen,” and “Fibber McGee & Molly”. This is one of his 11 performances on “My Favorite Husband.”  On “I Love Lucy” he holds the distinction of being the only actor to play two recurring roles: Freddie Fillmore and Ralph Ramsey, as well as six one-off characters, including the frazzled train conductor in “The Great Train Robbery” (ILL S5;E5), a character he repeated on “The Lucy Show.”  Aside from Lucille Ball, Nelson is perhaps most associated with Jack Benny and was a fifteen-year regular on his radio and television programs.
Howard Culver (Jake Workman, Ice Man) was best known as hotel clerk Howie Uzzell during the entire run of TV's “Gunsmoke.” On radio he starred in the title role of the Western adventure series “Straight Arrow” which aired on Mutual from 1948 to 1951.
Tony La Frano (Announcer) was the regular announcer for “Music Depreciation” (1945) and every episode of “Family Theatre” (1947-1957).
EPISODE
Tumblr media
Hostess Lucille Ball introduces the show, which was broadcast in front of a live audience. Lucille urges listeners to pray together as a family. She then introduces Jack Benny as the King, to great fanfare.
Instead of Benny, the show opens with Imogene on the telephone of a busy office in the Kingdom of Midas. Harvey Benson, an American reporter, arrives to see the Queen, who thinks he is there for money, but he wants the story of something that happened there recently. She tells the story in flashback...
A month ago, King Midas is at breakfast with his family. Imogene complains about having cornmeal mush for breakfast again, but Midas reasons that they have a 752 pounds of corn (thanks to the foresight of his father), so they must eat it!
Matthew, King Midas’ butler, suddenly quits after 32 years! He is tired of carrying the King’s gold. He is also tired of the mush. Because of an ancient decree, the help must eat whatever the King eats.
Imogene and the Queen insist King Midas counts his money too much - 80 million dollars a day!  Once the King is gone, the Queen sends Imogene on a mission to see a magician named Ipusda to buy a genie.
At Ipsuda’s shop, Imogene has her pick of genies - even ones vacuum packed in cans (only for tourists)!  She buys the blue bottle special for 5 gold pieces - plus a small deposit on the bottle!   Imogene brings the magic blue bottle back to the Queen, who says the magic words: “Genie out and at attention!  Do the chores which I will mention!”  The giggling Genie immediately appears, talking in rhyme, very amused at his own cleverness.  They promise the Genie his freedom if he does as bid.  The Queen whispers the orders to the Genie, without letting Imogene know.
Next morning, Imogene and the Queen introduce Midas to his new servant - the Genie!  At their bidding, he conjures up bacon and eggs. Midas hates the Genie’s rhyming. He asks Midas what one wish he wants more than anything else in the world.  Naturally, he wants more gold.
The Genie grants him with the skill to turn everything he touches to gold!  The Genie pops back into the bottle. Imogene notices his utensils have turned to gold - then his eggs - then his coffee.
Tumblr media
Before he can stop himself, he turns his own daughter to gold! Midas demands the Queen bring the Genie back, but she refuses and storms off.
Midas hears the kitchen servants Tony and Molly arguing in the next room. Tony goes to shake his hand, but he turns to gold! He touches Molly and she, too, turns to gold.
The ice man arrives and sees the two golden servants. Signing for the ice, the King tries to give him the golden pencil as a tip! Midas explains his problem - everything he touches turns to gold. Jake is about to phone his brother-in-law, Ipsuda, but when he learns that it was the work of a genie, he hangs up. All they can do is wait for the Queen to return to get the Genie out of the bottle!
Time passes and Jake reveals that the King is not as highly regarded in the Kingdom as he thinks.  The King admits to being money mad. Midas decides to start giving his money away - starting now!
The Queen arrives and she Midas admits that he never wants to see gold again as long as he lives. After accidentally turning Jake to gold during a hug, the Queen summons the Genie to change the King back - in return for his freedom and a good job. The Genie removes the curse.
Flash forward to the Queen’s interview with newspaper reporter Harvey Benson. Mr. Gene Blue, the president of the relief organization, enters. He makes a joke about his name sounding like “Benson Burners.” He laughs hysterically as the music swells.
Lucille Ball closes the show by asking if the audience knows how Hedda Hopper makes a hat, comparing it to how scientists make a concoction out of ordinary things to create something incredible: jewels out of sawdust, perfume out of coal tar, medicine out of weeds or mold. She says the power of prayer, just like the ordinary things that create something magical, are there all the time, but must be used to get benefits: the jewel of a happy home life, the perfume of uplifted hearts, medicine for a sick world.
Tumblr media
LUCILLE BALL: “The family that prays together, stays together.”
Announcer Tony Lo Frano reads the credits and says that next week’s program Walter Brennan and Bette Lynn in “A Star for Helen” with the honorable Frank Walker as host.

THE NEW POPE - 1x08
I can’t believe these bitches are waiting until the FINAL EPISODE to put Law Pope and Malkovich Pope in the same room, but also that’s exactly what I would have done. I’m bitches.
Anyway the scene where Lenny and Voiello are plotting together and they bring back the Levo song from The Young Pope fueled me with a pure energy that burned bright and clean.
New Pope Live-Bloggin’ No. 8
Wait BALDY commands Essence?? In what capacity and to what ends???!
Describes Leopold Essence as “a ghostly figure.” God I’m so into the way Bauer sees the world. Who are you. And what do you do. For whom.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Me when I’ve moved on to a new show
His vape pen is now a little dude in a double-breasted jacket
Wanna place bets on the *last* thing Bauer tells Voiello being that Lenny is awake
Oh! Oh I am legitimately surprised that someone else killed Francis II before you could get there!
Oh wait you just mean LENNY? Outrageous, so fun
About as fun as transitioning from Voiello learning that Lenny’s back into his beach creds
Hah he’s still in his Steve Rogers streetwear disguise
Tumblr media
I want Lenny to smile appreciably at me like this. Is this what it’s like to have daddy issues.
And a fridge stacked with Cherry Coke Zero, THEY LOVE HIM
Oh you’re NOT organized crime?
Wait are we supposed to think Faisal did it, because I absolutely do not. As if he would risk hurting his baby mama! As if the Syrian refugee would be like oh I know the answer: bombs. No!
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
the fucking aesthetic! tho! Brannox!
Gutierrez always expected Lenny to come back, FAITHFUL 😩
UM, extremely UMm, is Assente trying to keep Gutierrez away from Lenny???!! A Plot!!
Tumblr media
Javier this face!! This combination of sad affront and ‘mf you can try..’
“How is your toy boy?” Ohhhh no
Calmly and clearly: “His name is Freddy, and I think he’s fine.” Bernardo you are an entire delight.
Bernardo Gutierrez: “I read [your tract] and complied.” Bernardo Gutierrez: “Did you.”
hOLY SHIT Don Cavallo!!??!! the Assente plot really kicking the fuck up here isn’t it!
I gasped SO LOUD at Sofia’s “intimate” act being to start applying mascara to Brannox’s eyelashes! Ugh god bless this show
I love Sofia, she’s so right about people being drawn to someone revealing a tenderly dorky side of themselves, because we feel embarrassed about ourselves too
Who is truly a punk though is Cardinal Gutierrez, straight up ignoring Assente’s order to not fraternize with Lenny, and fraternizing the hell out of Lenny, Gutierrez-style: showing him all the boxes of letters children sent him while he was in a coma, and revealing that of course he has read all of them
Sofia rolling over in her bed and turning into Adam is….something we’re not gonna unpack!
“I was too strung out on heroin so I just sat there, and watched him bleed to death.” Whoa.
Aaah this abrupt transition---where Brannox is, is dark, and where Lenny is, is bright. And fucking asking Voiello who he is, in front of a small round empty swimming pool somewhere in the Vatican. SORRENTINO.
Uuuuugh, that Levo track from S1 coming in again as Voiello lays out his plan to reintroduce Lenny as AN AGENT OF CATHOLIC CHAOS. Lenny smiling slyly! LOVE YOU TWO LIKE THIS. LOVE THIS.
Tumblr media
This dance as they can’t figure out if they should hug or what oh my GOD I’m cackling. Silvio Orlando and Jude Law are like acting soulmates, so glad you found each other.
“Do you remember Adam’s millipede? He thought it was God, but he was wrong, it was Satan. Even Adam made mistakes.” [mildly] What The Fuck
The Abbess walking back and forth on the table between them oh my god
Voiello is still referring to Lenny as the Pope as he talks to Girolamo
Oh no Girolamo!
Hah you got him, Sister Lisette. So into the revolutionary nun, would follow on Nun Twitter.
Oh this rock formation is very cursed, I don’t like it
This is the episode where everyone’s like Voiello we need you, and Voiello doesn’t even gloat he’s just like ah thank you. It’s good!
This man with his clams and his flip phone, I just..
It’s a good eulogy, Voiello
Sister Lisette was working with Voiello to get that kompromat, fuck yeah. The Nunnery Secretary of State.
I mean Assente I do enjoy you, but you are also cruel and you have to go
Lenny hugging his loyal little nun friend, pure, I MAY have teared up, it’s fine!!
Tumblr media
Jude Law oh my god. IMPOSSIBLE to explain what it’s like to have this face be a drop reveal.
HooOowwwWw is Essence is so unnerving!
I would be very interested in Bauer actually, for reals, being God. Like why not.
I appreciate the girl letting out a single victorious “Hah” and Brauer echoing it in support of her
Fuck I love when Lenny preaches MYSTERY
He praises the sisters for being “different, and mysterious,” in comparison to the priests, whom he finds kind of lame. THIS IS ALL SO LENNY. He’s controlling them, and he’s not being progressive, he’s being strict, but he’s also being kind of Greater than that? PIUS XIII
Wow INTENSE strobe effect over the doctor in Vienna being mobbed by photographers
Lenny is standing bare ass naked in flip flops in the empty pool, gazing at his embroidered papal robes. STILL worried tumblr’s gonna try to Block The Butt so leaving this up (if I can) as a special treat! Anyway finale next.

how to understand tv ratings (so you’ll be prepared for cancellation/renewal announcements)
as most of you know, i had an internship last semester where one of my duties for the company was tracking and analyzing tv ratings. while i’m no expert on this yet, i worked with way more knowledgeable ppl than me on this and learned a couple things about ratings that i definitely didn’t know before, so i thought i’d share some of it now that b99 is back on and we def don’t want a repeat of last year’s debacle.
(also, i’ll be tracking and analyzing b99′s ratings over on @b99bythenumbers this season, so if you’re at all interested in any of this stuff pls check it out! that blog is still under construction and stuff but as this season gets the ball rolling, that blog will come to life heheh)
ok, so i’m gonna break this up into sections to keep it as organized/straightforward as possible, so we gonna cover:
what are nielsen ratings & how do they work? (aka what do numbers like 1.2/5 mean)
b99′s ratings & viewership
nbc’s ratings & viewership
ratings as the be-all end-all for shows? (other ways to support b99) (esp if you can’t access american cable)
what are nielsen ratings & how do they work?
so nielsen media research is a company that’s been measuring data for entertainment for just over 70 years now. tho they got a start in radio, they’re arguably most known in the modern day for their measurement of american television programming, as the data they gather from these measurements (the infamous “nielsen ratings”) strongly influence broadcast networks (abc, nbc, cbs, fox, & the cw) and channels in their decisions to renew or cancel certain programs.
the way nielsen measures this data is through selecting various households with tv’s across the u.s. to monitor what they watch, who’s watching, how often they watch, etc. so it’s not something everyone in the u.s. gets to do, like they might just randomly hit you up and ask if they can use your data. if you say yes, they have to install a bunch of stuff to monitor all tv’s in your household. (if you find this at all kinda interesting, i’d recommend reading this interview with a nielsen family bc it’s kinda wild)
so, now onto the numbers. i’ll use b99′s initial ratings for 6x01 last night as an example
Tumblr media
the rating is the 1.2/5 number. the first number, 1.2, means that 1.2% of the 119.6 million households nielsen estimates to have television watched b99 (1.2% of households, not individual people). the second number, 5, is referred to as the “share”, and means that 5% of households watching tv at that time watched b99.
these numbers are “live + same day”, meaning they only include households that actually watched b99 live as it was on tv last night and people who watched it from their DVR the day it was aired live. (for example, i got home after the ep started last night but had set it to record, so i watched my recording as the ep was ending so if i was in a nielsen family, me watching b99 on my DVR the same night it aired would still count for their measurement of an L+SD rating.)
additionally, tho nielsen records a lot of data about different demographics and people of what age are watching what shows, the standard demographic used for these ratings is people aged 18-49, all genders.
the 3.56 is the total viewership in millions (aka the actual individual viewers).
my source for ratings: tv by the numbers (specifically above, their initial thursday 1/10 ratings)
b99′s ratings & viewership
back on fox, b99 had a pretty solid run for the first two or three seasons, until the ratings started taking a pretty steep nosedive in recent years that (unfortunately) kinda predicted and ultimately led to their cancellation. it’s important to look back on their past ratings as a show, because stability & improvement are major factors at play when networks are deciding to renew or cancel shows.
season 1 (2013-2014) ratings
Tumblr media
b99 had a rly solid series premiere, tho it pretty quickly couldn’t retain its rating, as the difference between 1x01 and 1x02′s ratings is pretty major. it got its big 6.89 rating (!!!) in february 2014 bc it aired after the super bowl. this season ended with way less viewers than it started out with, which isn’t Great.
season 2 (2014-2015) ratings
Tumblr media
overall, pretty similar numbers to s1, especially in the total season average. it had a few ratings above 2.0 which is Good, but those numbers didn’t hold steady. again, the season ended with way less viewers than it began.
season 3 (2015-2016) ratings
Tumblr media
b99 dipped under 1.0 for a large portion of this season. that’s Big Yikes. cancellation becomes Very Real Possibility.
season 4 (2016-2017) ratings
Tumblr media
this season’s average was less than 1.0.....cancellation is Very, Very Real Possibility.
season 5 (2017-2018) ratings
Tumblr media
nothing above 1.0 for an entire season....this show is Doomed, and i honestly can’t blame fox for canceling it from a numbers and business standpoint, considering this was just a continuation of the trend established in s4 with the consistently lower ratings. it’s....kind of totally rational that fox did what they did, especially when you see how b99 compared (in ratings) to other fox shows in the 2017-2018 season:
Tumblr media
as you can see fox just kinda took like the bottom half of its shows by rating and cancelled all of them...anything averaging under a 1.0 on fox just isn’t safe!!!
comparing to other shows (esp other sitcoms) on its network is another big factor in renewing/cancelling. tho there aren’t any other sitcoms suuuper similar to b99 on fox, enough comedies did better that b99 got the axe. which means we should probably look at
nbc’s ratings & viewership
and here’s their 2017-2018 season (in which they had the most viewers out of all the broadcast networks for the first time since like 2001 actually!!):
Tumblr media
already, b99 is off to a good start, its 1.2 initial rating pretty high for nbc, but what’ll rly matter is if they can hold this rating for the rest of season 6. like i said, stability and improvement are everything in tv world! if b99 can continue like this for the rest of this season, i think we’ll be in pretty good shape.
and, honestly, nbc rly is a good network fit for b99, with its history of popular and acclaimed sitcoms (seinfeld, friends, will & grace, etc.) and its long-running and popular crime procedurals (aka any law & order series ever), and b99 is basically a combination of the two.
ratings as the be-all end-all for shows? (other ways to support b99)
while ratings are of the utmost importance to networks and channels, it’s not the sole deciding factor.
another thing networks and channels look at, as we live in the digital age, is BUZZ. this basically is industry-speak for how much people are talking about and movies! the most visible example of this is getting a show trending on social media when it airs.
a good example of a show like this is the good place. tgp hasn’t gotten stellar ratings this season, but has already been renewed...because a lot of people talk about it on social media! it’s usually trending on twitter when a new episode airs, and its objectively high quality writing has won over a lot of industry folks’ hearts, so it gets a lot of buzz in hollywood as well (hint hint similar to how the “guardians of the nine-nine” contributed to the fight to save b99 last year).
so, here are some tips on how to maximize b99′s ratings & overall potential for renewal:
WATCH. IT. LIVE. or DVR it and watch it ASAP, as final ratings come out within 24 hours after new episodes air. obvi this only applies to amercans with access to cable/tv but clearly these are the people not showing up for b99 since the ratings were so low while the fandom was so big and loud
forgot to record it but still live in the u.s.? watch it on your cable provider’s “on demand” services (if they offer it), hulu, or nbc.com as soon as the new episode comes out the next day!!! while these numbers won’t be reflected in the actual ratings, it’ll still tell the network you care.
are you a young adult who attends college away from home aka your family’s cable? look into your family’s cable provider’s online services! my family’s cable allows me to access our DVR away from home and even watch some things on demand, which has been a lifesaver while i’ve been away at college the past couple years. if you can access your DVR remotely through your cable provider’s website, use it to record b99 and watch it ASAP!
TWEET ABOUT IT. tumblr is cool and valid and all, but let’s be real - everyone’s looking at twitter, because most industry professionals don’t know how the fuck to use tumblr. twitter is straightforward and straight to the point; they want to see it trending there. so pls tweet using #brooklyn99 when the episode is on live!!! you have 3 major chances to do this: 9 pm est (u.s. east coast), 9 pm mountain time (2 hours after east coast), and 9 pm pst (3 hours after east coast) every thursday night.
talk about it in real life! get friends to watch it! again, may not contribute to the actual ratings, but it’s still nice to get more and more people into the show to watch it in other ways and talk about it with other people they know.
i know a lot of these methods are mostly applicable to people in the u.s. and/or americans with cable, but it’s rly important that those of us who fall into those categories do our parts!! fellow americans, let’s yeet this wheat!!!! all b99 fans from all over the world, i believe in all of us!!!!!!

5) Honestly, imo it would made a lot more sense if Serena got involved with the Resistance after 2x08. She's a writer and a good propagandist, June's an editor, they could carefully go behind Fred's back. Also, Commander Lawrence is there. They could have brought down Gilead from within. Maybe I'm being simplistic, but I think it would have given a nice msg. An instigator (and impassioned supporter) of a misogynistic (and homophobic) totalitarian regime becomes a victim herself, but decides to
6) to do sth about that monstrous situation she created, even if that means that she will go down with Gilead. Then again, I do understand why the creators didn't go there. This is the handmaid's tale, not the redeemed fascist's tale. Regarding 2x10, oof. I pride myself in having a hard stomach, but that scene made me REALLY, REALLY uncomfortable (and ENRAGED). (A lot more uncomfortable than the previous ceremonies, which were terrible enough on their own, AND Eden's death* .) And given that
7) Serena has the gall to tell Fred that June hates him, because he raped her. Like bitch, stfu, it was YOUR idea! You raped her and used Fred for the penetration. And not only that, but she manipulated Fred/played him like an instrument. She knows at this point that he's a serial rapist/abuser AND in love with June, so ofc he wouldn't decline the opportunity to abuse her once again. It really is telling that June was screaming Serena's name, not Fred's. I wonder wtf was going on Serena's mind
8) to put the baby's life in danger. She could have punished June after the birth if she really wanted to. That being said, I personally think that Serena was kind of OOC in that episode. Not because she's an angel that is not capable of such hideous things. But, after taking under consideration 2x08 and 2x09, I felt that her 180° change came out of nowhere. Especially, since she took a small taste of her own medicine. She knows what abuse/domestic violence feels like. As for the marital rape,
9) it may have been clichéd, but it would also have made sense. A person that repeatedly rapes a woman, beats his wife and is okay with mutilations draws the line at forcing himself on her? Since when do creepers have standards? One last thing, because I've spammed you enough. *I mentioned Eden's death (which made me cry like a baby). How do you feel about her? Bc was disappointed that the fandom blamed a 15 year old child that was forced to marry a man twice her age. Not only that, but she
10) forgave him and kept Nick and June's secret? // END OF RANT // My apologies.
---------
I think I have to put a read more here! Eep!
“Then again, I do understand why the creators didn't go there. This is the handmaid's tale, not the redeemed fascist's tale.”
I had to laugh IRL there. Cos, it’s true. It’s June’s story, technically speaking, not Serena’s. And I dunno but I feel like I suspect that’s where they eventually want to take the show. But S2 is too early for that? I personally don’t know why. There’s no law an American programme must go one for 14 seasons. It could easily be a 4 season series. Or 3! But I’ve read things that Hulu wants to keep it going as long as possible. Huge mistake, imo. Organically speaking, Serena changing course after 2x08, or even, at a push, 2x09 would have made much more sense than this “will she? won’t she?” BS they keep doing with her. I think she’s come around in a way she hadn’t before by the finale (or Eden’s murder). But it still doesn’t seem like it’s something she’ll carry through with--especially without June. It’s interesting how much Serena relies on June for incentive/encouragement. Basically everything Serena’s done in resistance since mid-S2 has been because June has done or challenged her or said something to prompt her. I feel on her own, she would be ~meeker. Even things like, “Hey, so I know this way to possible save the baby... what do you think?” is clearly her going “Please say what I want to hear!” It’s like she can’t just do it herself. She needs June’s input. June was calling almost every shot in 2x08. In 2x09, when left to her own devices, Serena folded. It took June screaming at her in 2x13 for her to do anything about reading. So, without June around I feel like Serena will just go back to old ways. Which is ridic cos she is an intelligent, powerful woman when she actually has the balls. The only thing Serena manages to do on her own is assault, hate speech, and war crimes lol. The easy shit.
That said, I kinda like how they ended 2x08. I loved Fred seeing the rose on June’s bedside and putting all the pieces together and seeing that as the true threat: Serena and June as friends/partners in rebellion. The beating scene was horrific too, mostly cos I’m not one of those weird fans that was sitting there cheering, “YAY I’M SO GLAD SERENA GOT BEAT! SERVES HER RIGHT!” (I just... want to throttle every single person who’s said that. Not necessarily cos I wuv woobie Serena sfm but because way to miss the point of the entire series.) but the aftermath was even worse, imo. June reaching out and attempting to maintain the bond, but Fred managed to break Serena really easily. Like it’s just so awful how easy it was for him to snap that bond, cos he knows his wife and her pride, etc. It was ... so manipulative and evil genius. (Although it doesn’t take a genius to figure that out, Freddie boy.) It was just such a prime example of exactly how they maintain power in Gilead and how they managed to get it working: estranging women from each other. And it was just such an apt way of visualising the concepts June talked about in S1 about keeping women at arm’s length of each other, suspicious, etc. in order for men to keep power. So, in that sense, I thought it was well done. But then... I was like, “OH FUCK THIS. NOT AGAIN. FUCKING SERENA. WHAT A DISAPPOINTMENT. WHY CAN’T SHE BE STRONG LIKE JUNE. UGH.”
I dunno.
Yeah. 2x10. I was “lucky” to have seen that scene ahead of time... so I was prepared when it happened during the episode. But it was still repulsive. Aside from the nonsensical writing of the whole thing, it was just gross. And I think maybe you’re the first person that when talking about this has mentioned how grossed out you are by the other Ceremony scenes. So many people just... don’t really mention them. I remember the article about 2x10 and how the showrunners were saying something along the lines of “Is it really that big of a deal when the same thing has been happening the entire time?” Nobody reacted the same way those times, because the Handmaids are quiet and well-behaved during their rapes, even though, on some level I think Serena and some other wives (IIRC) are completely aware of how terrible it is (Serena even admits as much...but does it anyway uuuggghhhhh.) This is the only time June ever fights back and suddenly not only are Fred and Serena faced with the brutal reality of the act but as the audience we are as well. It’s easy to look the other way when nobody is crying or struggling but WHAM. Fuck that. This is gross and horrible and here is what it REALLY is. And it’s hard to swallow.
June crying Serena’s name was probably the absolute worst part, cos it just makes it crystal clear that everyone knows exactly who is responsible for that rape. June knows who has the power, whose idea it was, and she knows the only one to stop it is not Fred. (God, I fucking hate Fred but like you said, he was totally played by Serena. I don’t let him off the hook for it but really it was her idea, 100% and he just thought “Hell yeah! Sounds good!”)
I feel like as much as Serena understood the Ceremony is pretty bad generally, I don’t think she recognised it as “real” rape until that moment. I feel like a lot of those Gilead people are just so willfully blind and selfish and horrible that they actively refuse to see things. Like Serena’s weird ass enthrall about child brides. I know some of that was to get back at June but she seemed genuinely awed by how beautiful it all was. NO BITCH IT’S NOT. IT’S CHILD ABUSE AND SEX TRAFFICKING.
I just have given up trying to understand why Serena would do such a monumentally STUPID and DANGEROUS thing if she honestly cared about the baby--which, incidentally, I do believe she truly loves Nicole and babies. As crazy as that is. Even if her love of Nicole specifically is totally a self-centeredness. But she loves babies. Babies above all else apparently, including other women. And she’s not an idiot. Baby health aside, that is a HUGE crime in Gilead to rape a pregnant Handmaid for any reason. I’m supposed to believe Serena is just so massively upset about June’s false labour that she goes mentally insane, even after being subjected to the similar treatment like a week earlier? It’s a huge, nonsensical risk on basically every single level.
I’ve come to the conclusion, considering all those things you did, it was just bad writing. Her 180 just... is bonkers. I give up. I don’t think there’s any way to logically get from 2x08/09 to 2x10 without taking some leaps. Do I think Serena would punish and abuse June for humiliating her? Absolutely. That’s her MO. She lives for that shit. But rape? It... I dunno again. Fucking weird. I don’t know if it’s on purpose or what, but I do find it interesting that after that Serena never raises a hand to June again, when she had some opportunity. She still punished her by separating her from Nicole but she never physically assaults her again. (Not that I’m saying she’s a changed person or anything. I just thought it was curious but I don’t know if it was deliberate on the show’s part or just a symptom of lack of real opportunity.)
ITA re: the marital rape too. I see no reason Fred wouldn’t escalate to that. It’s all Joseph Fiennes fault. Which is probably what pisses me off the very most. He decided that was just too much for his character? C’mon. That’s too much but what Fred does in the next ep is peachy keen? Oh, right, because in 2x10 we can blame Fred’s behaviour on his evil wife. It’s not really his fault. I see. But you can’t blame Serena for him raping her. Ugh. So, cos, Fiennes doesn’t like it, we lose way more context for Serena--who, lbr, is the more important character in this whole series out of the two of them.
EDEN. OMG BB EDEN.
I’m with you. I was actually pretty disgusted at fandom’s response to her. SHE IS A CHILD. But all these Nick/June shippers were going hogwild attacking her for getting inbetween their precious self-insert fantasy relationship. (I have a particularly low opinion of Nick/June shippers primarily because of their reactions to Eden, tbh. Before that, I was like whatever, each to their own.) This is a story about women and girls in a horrible society, and the focus seemed to be on tearing apart this female child for something she had zero control over. I never got the “Eden is evil and gonna fuck shit up for Nick (and June)!” vibe. She seemed to be a regular girl caught and raised in a misogynistic awful place and just lost. I absolutely ABHORRED the way Nick treated her the entire fucking time. (I honestly hate him so much, and most of that again is due to him since the forced marriage, both in the way he was with Eden and with June. And the number of fangirls fanwanking away all his shitty fucking behaviour and throwing Eden under the bus didn’t help my attitude.)
She’s a KID. FORCED TO MARRY A GROWN MAN. A man who it wouldn’t kill to just be straight up with her and a little bit kind. Fuck. (Serena’s grooming certainly wasn’t good either. Like, seriously lady, shut up. Stop pressuring the kid to fuck an adult man who hates her by telling her “Well maybe you can like it too!” AHHHHH.)
To me, aside from the babies/children, Eden was the most truly good character on the entire show. She was patient, kind, caring, FORGIVING, loving. Completely innocent bb girl. And then she gets fucking murdered for kissing a boy she actually likes and wants to be with. Which, was ........... wow. Gilead’s hypocrisy killing a pious young girl, presumably fertile... Yikes.
And that little girl was more brave than ANY other character. And maybe some of that is teenage thinking but still she was staring down death and refused to back down. Sure, it’s unreasonable, and an adult likely wouldn’t have made that decision... but also what was her option? Repent... and become a Handmaid? That would have been her fate since she’s an adulteress and fallen woman. And since she truly believes in goodness, and God, and Heaven (presumably), she sees it as a way for her and Isaac to be together. Meanwhile, it took a literal death sentence for Nice Guy Nick to actually recognise he could have maybe been a bit kinder to her. Then she’s asking for HIS forgiveness. AH. Eden bb.
I have a lot of feelings about Eden, and the way fandom treated her. Even when she was killed, fans were still calling her stupid and annoying for her choice--likely the ONLY real choice she has EVER had for herself. (I think that concept gets forgotten.) Like WTF sort of world do you live in that you watch a show about fascism and female oppression and turn around and bitch out the YOUNG GIRL strictly for being a young girl in a fascist society?
But hey, this is the same fandom that calls Janine annoying and crazy, and says Serena deserves to be beaten and mutilated by her husband/Gilead. Way to miss the point of the entire show. But that’s a totally other rant for another time, heh.
Also, anon, NEVER APOLOGISE FOR YOUR RANTS. They are so wonderful to read cos I completely agree! And it’s just such a relief to see reasonable people around these parts.

Everything actually stacks up right. My memory wipe theory and my third employer theory. It all falls in what’s left out. The things Red mentions, yet the things he doesn’t. I actually believe my third employer theory is gonna play, along with just about everything I’ve been saying of Tom Keen.
Look at the big bads. They’re all related to Katarina Rostova. Why are they all releated to Katarina Rostova? Because Red IS Katarina Rostova.
Season one was Berlin.
Doesn’t matter that he was Russian, or that he had a ring with the same Russian inspection stamp. What actually matters with his arc has to do with what Tom whispered to Liz in the season one finale.
“Your father’s alive.”
Season two was the Cabal.
These are the very people who framed Katarina Rostova. We got the reveal of Liz’s born identity, Masha Rostova. We take that to Red’s dialogue in S5.
Jennifer: So, you’re saying you were framed? Red: I’m saying a perfectly plausible narrative was created. Jennifer: By some shadow government called the Cabal. Red: Secret societies exist. The Cabal, the Trilateral Commission – private organizations that harness powerful forces to tip the scales in their favor – military engagements, UN interventions, treaties. The Cabal is the one I stumbled across – and tried to destroy. To prevent that, they tried to destroy me. Jennifer: How does you getting targeted by a scary group of people who think they rule the world explain why you abandoned us? Red: You weren’t abandoned. You were protected. Jennifer: Yes. So, you forget my ground rules, which is I take you to Naomi in exchange for honest answers. Red: In 1990, the KGB and the CIA had almost nothing in common except the mutual determination to hunt down one individual. Jennifer: You. Red: Being a fugitive from American law enforcement is a lot easier than being a fugitive from the two most powerful nations on Earth. And anyone close to a target of theirs becomes a target themselves. Jennifer: Family. Red: Especially family.
Only a Russian or double agent working with Russia would be considered a fugitive of Russia. Raymond Reddington was known as their greatest enemy.
Season three was Alexander Kirk.
Formerly known as Constantin Rostov. The husband of Katarina Rostova, who was led to believe Masha Rostova was his daughter because our Rederina fabricated the DNA report. A man who wanted to kill Tom Keen just as badly as our Red did. Why? lmao... yeah.
Season four was Mr. Kaplan.
The very person Katarina Rostova hired, twice. Her first hire as Masha’s nanny back before Katarina Rostova became Raymond Reddington. Her second, when our Red hired her to assist him in building a criminal empire for the sake of protecting Elizabeth.
Season five was the suitcase.
In it, the body of her dead lover and father of her child. The identity in which she took over in order to remain alive and protect her daughter.
Then look at what Red said prior to turning himself in -
“As I feared would happen, elements from Katarina’s past are circling Elizabeth like a pack of wolves in the night. I put Tom Keen in her life to keep an eye on her, and he married her.”
Then what he said to Tom in the car in 5x8 -
“I’ll say this for you - you’ve always believed that you were acting in her best interest. Selling me out to Berlin, faking her death - you always thought you were helping her.”
Then what he said to Liz himself -
“Four years ago, I surrendered to protect you. From Tom, Berlin, Cabal. And now you may go to jail because of me. It appears Kate may be right after all. Maybe I am the person you need protection from.”
And that reference Tom made back in Quon Zhang -
“Did the same thing last month. It’s probably why you don’t recognize me. Constantin. Berlin, man, he’s tough. I had to get away for a while, go to Germany, figure a few things out.”
The one person Red always leaves out, and as he’s talking to Tom in the car, they’re sitting under a damn NexacoGas sign. Alexander Kirk, a name Tom didn’t recognize. What “element” from Katarina’s past could Tom have been involved with? Constantin Rostov.
Go back to that claim in the S1 finale because while you may think it was the Cabal, the Cabal had no flipping idea who Liz was until her name got revealed during the harbormaster trial.
Then you take the death of Berlin and feed that to the Cabal. Because who would hand them Liz’s born identity? Sure as hell wouldn’t be Red or Kirk. **Insert my identity reveal theory here... lmao. Because Tom had absolutely no protection once Berlin died, and he was looking at federal crimes beyond that murder of Eugene Ames.
Back to that statement when Red turned himself in -
“As I feared would happen, elements from Katarina’s past are circling Elizabeth like a pack of wolves in the night. I put Tom Keen in her life to keep an eye on her, and he married her.”
Why would Red mention Tom marrying Liz when he spoke of elements from Katarina’s past? Because Katarina Rostova did the same to Constantin Rostov. She married him to gain access to Raymond Reddington, which was exactly why Tom married Liz. And because he was after Raymond Reddington, it put Katarina Rostova at risk all the same as her daughter.
“A confluence of peril had entered your life … “

          bio.
In the year 1983, the 2nd of January, Dinah Madani was born to Farah Madani ( the psychiatrist ) and Hamid Madani ( the surgeon ). She showed a vast intelligence at a young age, always challenging her parents’ rule and never stepping down. School life was relatively normal; Dinah was on the debate team at her private school and went on to graduate from Fordham University and attended Columbia University where she earned her Masters in Islamic Studies.
Knowing what she wanted to do with the rest of her life, Dinah received field training in Quantico, at the FBI National Academy, where she drew top marks in intelligence analysis, profiling, and investigation. It’s not too long after that Madani was recruited to the US Department of Homeland Security where she worked as an intelligence analyst in Washington DC. As luck would have it, Madani was designated the Homeland attaché to the US mission in Kandahar. As with everything she’s ever done, Madani thought it would be best if her partner at the time, Ahmad Zubair, made a statement about a criminal conspiracy in Kandahar.
Well … Not all endings are happy, and this is especially true for Zubair who was assassinated for trying to expose the truth. Once Dinah receives footage from an anonymous source of his execution ( done by Americans), she’s relentless in exposing the truth for what it is.
Unfortunately, by the end of it all, justice isn’t served. Everything she worked so hard for is covered up by her own words because of her own mistakes and shortcomings.
A sexual relationship turned sour by betrayal and lies, another partner dead because of said betrayal, and a web of crime, lies, and cover-ups; it isn’t the life she thought she would be living, but someone’s gotta do it, yeah?
Presently, Dinah Madani is working for the CIA, doing what she does best.

I. i mentioned the possibility of shipping exclusives earlier, and I do have one shipping exclusive! I know he’s basically non existent in the RPC, but just incase, Dinah will only be shipping with one Sam Stein @agentstein.
I. depending on timelines, Dinah either adores Billy or she fuckin’ hates him. There’s literally never any neutral ground. As much as she says she’s never had the thought or urge to shoot him dead right in the hospital bed, it’s a lie!!! She wants him dead! Now, i’m ALL for exploring some weird relationship beyond S1, but we both must understand that there will be nothing healthy about that relationship at all, unless the plot we discuss is canon divergent ( ie he doesn’t kill Sam )
I. i know i said this earlier too, but i just want to repeat it: Dinah is very passionate about her job!! She won’t turn a blind eye to crime!!
I. despite how strict and dedicated she is to her work, dinah is pretty open when it comes to sex. She isn’t a prude, and she definitely allows herself to have fun. If she isn’t in a relationship, she’s usually down for a little fun. Men and ladies alike! She doesn’t really have much of a preference.
