Hey guys, I thought I’d try to make a list like the one I’ve seen a few times on here. I’ve been really struggling to get the motivation to do some important things and to feel a wave of support behind me would help so much. I’ll even post pictures/proof of some kind that I’m doing the things so that you can feel the wonderful effect of helping someone get on top of their life :) I only seem to get notes on the fics I write, so my expectations are very low, but here goes

10 notes- I’ll start playing the piano again.

25 notes- I’ll finally finish my to-do list (it includes things like clean my hamster babies, update my calendar, buy a test I have to take to graduate college, etc)

50 notes- I’ll pull a late night/all-nighter to get completely caught up in my assignments

75 notes- I’ll thoroughly clean every part of my house.

100 notes- I’ll apply to 30 jobs so that I can make more money and not be so financially stressed.

200 notes- I’ll start writing a poem a day.

300 notes- l’ll finish fixing the links on my main, do maintenance on my other blogs and start three new blogs that I’ve been wanting to start forever but haven’t had the courage to (it involves posting my art that I’m self-conscious about)

500 notes- I’ll redo my formal wardrobe so that i can actually feel like who I am/who I’ve worked so hard to become when I’m dressed up.

750 notes- I’ll finally start my side blog business that terrifies me but is the beginning of the life I always wanted.

1k notes- I’ll start writing the fantasy book series that everyone (professors, friends, family etc) says has a high chance of getting published.

2k notes- I’ll record and post my first podcast episode (also something that excites and terrifies me because it would be the beginning of everything).

3k notes- don’t do this to me but…if I get to 3k I’ll stop doing the two things that are bad/addictive/potentially fatal in my life, tell my s/o about it, and get professional help.

Anything beyond that- I don’t really know, completing these things would be such a life altering experience. I’ll invest serious effort into ensuring I maintain this new life style? I’m not sure, but I’ll definitely do something significant to show my appreciation for that much support :)

February '24 Fic Rec List

This is the first time I've ever done this, but I've been wanting to put together rec lists for years to highlight some of my favorite writers on here. I haven't been able to read as much as usual so it's a short one, but I hope you enjoy!

Lord Of The Rings -

Why I love it: I randomly stumbled onto this short little head headcanon post and absolutely loved how each of my elf babies were described with a short partner.

Stranger Things-

Title/Author: Love is a warm hug by @stevesbipanic

Pairing: Steve x Eddie

Why I love it: Wayne?? Being soft?? And giving Steve a hug?? Ahhhh it was so fluffy and angsty and perfect, I loved how the writer balanced hurt/comfort with fluff. Also, I love how Wayne is shown as a father figure for Steve as well, I never considered that dynamic before but it feels so right.

The Outsiders-

Title/Author: What the boys do when their s/o feels forgotten/ignored by @rumble-aint-a-rumble-without-me

Pairing: Outsiders x reader

Why I love it: The Outsiders brain rot has returned for me and anything Dillo writes is brilliant. This fic is my current favorite of theirs, they all react to their s/o in the way I would expect them to react. Slightly angsty but mostly fluff!

Five Songs I'm Into Now (International Edition)

I've recently done one of these on my main blog here, so it's been great to highlight more songs that I've been vibing with of late!

This time, I've challenged myself to pick international songs since I listen to a wide variety; some of these have been long-time favourites of mine, while others are more recent. I discover a lot of new songs and genres using Radio Garden. (I highly recommend Transistor FM in Thessaloniki, Greece!)

I've also added a bonus song- my favourite from a band local to my hometown ✨

1. Frío Frío Live Version - Juan Luis Guerra 4.40 & Romeo Santos

From the Dominican Republic This one is a long-time favourite of mine- I've been listening to Juan Luis Guerra 4.40 since I was ~16ish and this is my favourite song of his. This live rendition with Romeo Santos is just *chefs kiss* and the whole live album is fantastic. It's also funnier if you watch the live recording of this song and realize that the reason the crowd goes so batshit when Romeo comes out is because he pops out of of a hole in the stage, it's so wholesome

2. T'Asteri Mou - Despina Vandi & Foivos

From Greece Something I used to do when I was playing Assassin's Creed: Odyssey was listening to Greek music. Since then I've become addicted to Greek pop songs. This one popped up on the station I'd picked in Radio Garden and I fell in love. I was learning Greek a few years back now, but only remember the basics + some random phrases from Duolingo - did you know 'soup' is considered feminine in Greek??

3. Qefs Milion A - Martin Mkrtchyan

From Armenia This popped up on a random Armenian radio station while I was browsing Radio Garden, and it always makes me want to get up and dance! I have nothing interesting or informative to say here, aside from that this song slaps.

4. Invoke - T.M.Revolution

From Japan My partner and I recently watched all of Gundam SEED (my... fifth? sixth? time watching, his first) and I was reminded just how much I not only love this series but the music. Choosing which opening/ ending theme I'd include in this was a challenge! I studied Japanese from middle school right through to my first (and last) year at university. I still remember a bit, to the point of still being able to hold basic conversations/ ask basic questions.

5. Klefi / Samed (صامد) - Hatari & Bashar Murad

Icelandic & Palestinian Collaboration **warning for flashing lights in the video!** I discovered Hatari from their appearance in Eurovision in 2019 and the song they performed (Hatrið mun sigra) is a favourite of mine. This one has been on repeat more frequently now, for reasons I'm sure are obvious from the tumbnail. While in Israel for the competition, Hatari joined forces with a Palestinian artist, Bashar Murad, to create this song of resistance; the band also got a harsh response from the audience for displaying the Palestine flag during the competition's grand final. The video filmed for this song is very powerful, which is why I've added this link from YouTube instead of Spotify. I highly recommend watching it and having captions on for translation. Timestamp 2:48 is truly breathtaking. "After all this torture I'm steadfast, I won't bow down." From the rivers to the sea, Palestine will be free 🕊️

Bonus; Yoke - Teenage Joans

From Adelaide, Australia A new home grown favourite that I recently discovered, this song take me back to my emo/punk days. This song has been on repeat- in my headphones, my car and my home stereo. My poor husband and cats are probably sick of hearing it. Did you know Australians normally sing with a different accent, otherwise we sound ridiculous? Examples here: 1/2

Music never ceases to make me happy and I've chosen some of my favourite songs below ♥

1. A Disappearing Act - Coheed and Cambria I was introduced to Coheed and Cambria by a friend, and fell in love from the first listen. This was the first song of theirs I heard and it's still on frequent rotation.

2. Draw the Line - WILD This is a more recent favourite of mine; it sums up the feelings I experienced when going through a rough friendship breakdown with someone a few years back. Now that I'm able to look back knowing I'm healthier and happier without them, it's a good feeling; I'm less willing to compromise my own comfort and boundaries for others now.

3. The Sun, The Moon, The Star - Æther Realm Another recommendation from a dear friend- be warned, it's a long haul at 19 minutes long! I love putting this one on for long drives as I get lost in the story it's telling.

4. Famvs (Alternate Version) - Starcadian This song was inspiration for an RP character based loosely on the Starfinder system; an android pilot who is also a famed DJ/radio host, who uses her fame and platform to misdirect and subvert.

RATSWORLD!!!!!!

Edd used to be a housepet for a family in London. His owners lived in a big apartment, where Edd stayed in a cramped cage. From an outside perspective, his life could have been much better. One day, he wakes up to find his cage left in a nearby alleyway, with no idea how he ended up there, but assumes his owners left him there. He escapes the cage, which was left unlocked, and goes on to explore the city himself, meeting Tom later on.

Tom used to live in a pet shop, along with many other rats. Over the months, he watched other rats get taken home, but he was always left behind due to his eyes being unusually dark. Because of this, he often tried to escape the shop and find a life for himself. This led to him being declawed in hopes of preventing escapes. Eventually he gets a chance to run for it, afterwards wandering the streets to learn his way around. He meets Edd, and they continue exploring together.

Matt is extremely naive to the outside world. He was born and raised in the sewer system beneath the city. He tended to be curious of the “surface world”, but only ever left his home when he had to. During one of his rare outings, he takes a wrong turn (he’s pretty forgetful) and ends up lost on the streets. Afraid, he stays where he is, hoping someone will find him. He ends up being found by Tord.

Tord is a street rat. He grew up being an outsider, so he knows how to fend for himself. He spends most of his time scrounging for food in dumpsters. He has sharper teeth and claws than the others, which act as his only method of defense. He lives in a dumpster behind a pizza restaurant. During a day of hunting for leftover scraps, he finds Matt curled up beside his dumpster. Tord reluctantly agrees to help Matt find his way home, which is when they run into Tom and Edd.

Eventually, all of the rats are found by Laurel during an outing, who happens to have a soft spot for animals. She adopts them all, bringing them back to her apartment, giving them all baths, feeding them, and she provides them with their matching colored hoodies, to keep them warm in case they decide to go out again. After finding them, she gives them all names that she finds fitting (since she doesn’t know their previous names). She names Edd as Fluffy, Tom as Cotton, Matt as Sprinkles and Tord as Sunshine (whenever she plays the Sunshine Lollipops song, he runs around the room begging for her to turn it off, but she confuses his running for playing, which is why she names him after the song).

Edd adjusts to living with Laurel easily, since he was already used to living with humans. Tom finds comfort in the fact that he finally has a home to rely on, and also feels more comfortable now that he isn’t defenseless on the street anymore. Matt, who didn’t particularly care about is appearance before he left home, becomes VERY focused on how he looks and smells. When Laurel gives them baths, he is always the one to enjoy is the most. Tord, however, is resistant to befriending the others, let alone living with them. He prefers to be alone, and has survived on his own outside his whole life; mostly it’s his sense of pride that keeps him from staying with Laurel and the others.

Laurel has other pets besides the rats:

Eduardo is a mouse. He enjoys alone time despite living with his cagemates. Because of the close proximity, he tends to pick on the other mice as an outlet. The mice used to be Laurel’s favorite before the rats were adopted, which is where the rivalry between them starts. This rivalry is mostly just between Eduardo and Edd, though the others don’t particularly like each other either.

Jon was the second mouse to be adopted by Laurel. Up until he showed up, Eduardo was feeling comfortable in his new home. He saw Jon as a nuisance, taking up space that once belonged to him, which is why Jon is usually the target of Eduardo’s temper. Jon is rather sociable, but doesn’t have anyone besides Eduardo to interact with, so he tries to be as welcoming as he can.

Mark was the fourth mouse to be adopted (the third mouse was Todd, but he escaped; no one has seen him since). Mark’s arrival did not upset Eduardo as much as Jon’s did, but he still wasn’t pleased. Jon and Mark become friends and get along well for the most part.

1. My beloved partner, Kal. We've been best friends since we were little and we're in such a good place with our relationship right now. Despite the ups and downs of life, we've learned to communicate and the hard work we've put into our relationship has really changed things for the better. 2. Kitties! My darling fluffy children bring me so much joy, from my morning cuddles with Kenobi to Heidi's squeaky little meows (and drooling when you pat her long enough, she's a gremlin but she's MY GREMLIN). 3. Roleplay; I'm really loving and vibing with the characters I'm playing at the moment! I've gone for something a little different with each of them and it's been fab to see how these characters bounce of the others around them. I'm in a good spot at the moment rp-wise and am keen to put this inspiration and enthusiasm to good use! 4. Getting crafty; I've been doing more painting and sewing recently, trying to get back into the swing of making things with my hands. We recently did a clay workshop as a wellbeing day with my work team, and it was a greatly therapeutic- I'm hoping to do more clay work in future. 5. The rain; I'm inside, nice and cosy at the moment while a rainstorm is going overhead. The sound of it on the roof is so soothing and it's such a good background noise to work to. I love rugging up during cold, stormy weather ♥
