After a few months of thinking (I’m a new fan), I finally know what Lan Wangji meant when he asked Wei Wuxian to trust him and that the situation has changed.

First of all, the answer is related to why the hell Lan Wangji was absent at the gathering and why he was sooooo late. This post clearly explained that after the Wens surrendered themselves, Lan Wangji went to the Burial Mounds to search for Wei Wuxian but found A-Yuan instead. This means that Lan Wangji saved A-Yuan before Wei Wuxian’s death and not after.

Another answer can be found in the list of the deleted scenes. Lan Wangji actually saved Wen Qing in Jinlintai. He battled Gusu Lan’s and Lanling Jin’s soldiers just to save Wen Qing because he knows that she’s important to Wei Wuxian.

Lan Wangji did ALL OF THAT for Wei Wuxian.

So that solves why it took so much time for Lan Wangji to appear and what the hell he was doing.

What I think Lan Wangji’s plan is… is that he will ask Wei Wuxian to stop everything. Stop his revenge for a while and calm down because not all the Wens are dead. There’s still a few people left of his newfound family. And I dare say that those 2 (plus Wen Ning but he ain’t there) are the ones who matter the most to Wei Wuxian (among the Wens).

You know what I hate? Is that Wei Wuxian was always saying something like Lan Wangji not believing him and that’s why he never accepted his help. But he never believed Lan Wangji either. He never listened to him. So like ??? Same banana.

“Or like this?” Lan Zhan’s starving mouth moves from Wei Ying’s mouth to her jaw to her throat, smearing strawberry lip gloss like blood.

“Please,” she’s begging. Her voice sounds distant, somewhere far past herself and the rush of blood in her ears. Lan Zhan’s fingers will leave marks and Wei Ying will press on them later, standing half-naked before the mirror. She’ll find the bruises and try to fit her own hand to them and make them bruise again. (She will try, and her hand won’t be large enough, she’ll press her palm against the swell of her belly and remember how Lan Zhan’s pale hand had looked, how she’d held her, possessive and wild.)

There’s red lipgloss on their lips and red wine in their mouths and she’s afraid of what she’ll find on the other side of the night, in the pale morning, when sobriety comes knocking. If anyone can keep the dawn at bay, it’s Lan Zhan. Lan Zhan always gives her anything she wants.

The trouble is that she doesn’t know what she wants.

The trouble is this, that what she wants and what she wants to want are two different things, and Wei Ying can’t look one of them in the eye.
