There is nothing more intimate than someone hurting you; when she sees her blood on Junko's knuckles, she knows she's been truly seen. This is what love feels like. It's the aching in your chest where you know someone has kicked you.

Junko likes to tell her she's worthless, that she's going to die a lonely and pathetic death. Mikan knows it's true. The moment Junko leaves her, with her bloodied mouth and bruised cheek, her heart might simply cease to beat. She'll be crushed by the weight of knowing the person who knows her soul inside and out has left her, exactly the way she deserves.

It will be a wonderful way to die.

Junko balances a cup of tea on her head. She keeps as still as she possibly can, but the human body can only stay stationary for so long. Her hands are sweating where they're resting on her knees. Her knees are aching where they're pressing into the floor, the coldness of the concrete radiating up through her body.

She trembles. The cup moves with the motion, and a drop of hot tea spills out, landing on her head. It's hot, and it makes her tense up in pain. Junko makes a noise of disgust.

"You stupid bitch," she says, laughter in her voice. "That was barely three minutes." The teacup is lifted off the crown of her head. Mikan bows down to the floor. She kisses Junko's boot.

Junko kicks her in the cheek. Agony splits her head in two, and she rolls onto her side, biting back a sob. She looks up at Junko, just in time to see her slowly upending the teacup. It starts to rain down on her, drops of burning pain.

Mikan can't stop smiling.

3) What’s your favorite line of narration?

This whole fic is so shameless and horny, so it’s hard to pick because a lot of it is just sex all over the place, but I really like this section of public sex. I like the way Sam puts Dean on display and the loving objectification of it, based solely in his possessiveness and also need to show Dean off, while also trying to find ways to do it while keeping Dean comfortable. I have nothing deeper to say.

Sam removes Dean’s robe, sliding the black silk from his shoulders and letting it fall on the ground. Dean shivers in front of him, in front of the crowd gathered around them—Sam’s council, his acolytes, their witnesses to the act. Dean’s milky skin is adorned in red symbols, painted by Sam’s hand, the ink a mixture of Sam’s blood and Dean’s own, fortified with herbs and magic, making the symbols start to glow the nearer Dean steps toward the altar laid out for them. Sam’s own symbols tingle and burn where Dean’s paintbrush swirled over his skin, marking Sam. Sam picks Dean up and places him on top of the altar, then climbs up over him, covering Dean's body with his own—protective, possessive, hiding Dean from view. Dean opens up for him, spreading his thighs, his cunt an offering, wet and warm and inviting Sam inside. Sam goes in easy, thrusting inside his brother in one swift movement, making Dean’s legs come around his back and lock at the ankles, tipping his hips up to take Sam all the way. 11) What do you like best about this fic?

I cut my teeth as a Sam/Dean shipper around mid to end of S2 as it was airing originally, so I spent a lot of that hiatus reading Sam saves Dean from his deal, Sam becomes the Boy King to do so-style fics that ultimately shaped a lot of my favorite tropes for them. Plus, I very much enjoy pregnancy tropes. In writing this, I was letting myself indulge in some of my favorite things, so it was a lot of fun. I was also trying to keep myself to a low word count, so it was also a bit of a challenge and I am really happy I was able to get across the vibes of what I was trying to accomplish without the freedom of full, lush descriptions.

I've completed 10 one-shots and one fic with two chapters (although that was really just a one-shot split in two). All started this year so I'm not sure that's quite what the question is asking, but I'm very pleased I managed to write this much!

For AR alone it's like 5 already, and I've got a truly embarrassing number of fics I started for TO/tvd that never got published/finished. Oops? 😅

Probably the first comment I got on my John/Yassen fic because they really enjoyed my fic and pointed out several little details I was proud of/had spent a lot of time thinking about, and it was so gratifying. I read through that comment like ten times already, and I'm sure I'll come back to it later when I'm feeling down about my writing or something. But I've had some really lovely comments on my other fics as well this year!

1) What inspired you to write the fic this way?

It was the only way I could organize my thoughts in a way that made sense, lol. I had to break it down into snapshots because otherwise the overarching themes were too unwieldy and large. If I didn’t come up with the five scene structure, it probably would never be finished. I added the last scene because I wanted some kind of catharsis, which when I wrote it ended up not being very cathartic and actually rather horrifying, but it still became a kind of release that the fic needed, regardless of the actual contents.

13) What music did you listen to, if any, to get in the mood for writing this story? Or if you didn’t listen to anything, what do you think readers should listen to to accompany us while reading?

This was a fic that required me not to be listening to anything, so it doesn’t really have a fic playlist like the rest of my fics, but for you, I will make a mini one that I made in under an hour: link here.

Dexter Morgan for the meme because I’m in a mood

Oh man it's been years since I watched Dexter (I quit after Rita died, I might watch the later seasons at some point, or at least the revival)

Dexter ships:

Rita - they were this interesting combination of surface wholesome and then secretly fucked up because Dexter is a serial killer, but then also oddly functional? Rita taking back her power after an abusive relationship! Dexter's insecurity in his ability to connect to people (due to maybe being a sociopath) meaning that in a lot of ways she was driving the relationship. Just really fascinating

Bryan, his serial killer bio brother - when I first watched s1 and didn't know about the brother thing, I thought Bryan having a crush on Dexter was text, or at least heavily implied (my mom did too, and she did not have fandom goggles). And then it turned out they were brothers, but. I still might have been right. In any case there's a fixation and fuckedupness and tragedy to the whole thing that I'm into (Also fucked up sibling incest ships are my jam)

OH MAN UM

ok so maybe this is cheating since he's a late actor and all the movies I watched with him were from decades ago, but I ended up seeing a bunch of new Vincent Price films this year and gosh, I just love him so much? he had so much presence and charisma and personality. and I got to see him in very different roles, too. he really was something special.

14.Favorite book you read this year?

lol it's absolute filth but The Dragon's Bride by Katee Roberts, which is the first in what I think is going to be a five book series of monster romance with SMUT, it is raunchy af, and the cover is purposefully done up like an old bodice ripper-esque art style. the second book is out now, and while it wasn't quite as good, I still recommend it for monsterfuckers, lol.

There's a lot of variety, but I think I tend towards short sentences as the hook. Both past and present tense. Not always, but I often start in media res; I think it's really effective!

ETA: @ladyculebras pointed out that mentions of time are a frequent theme (1, 2, 4, 10) which I did not notice! It's often something you need to establish quickly, but doing it in the first line seems to be a habit of mine.
