Why do we put so much value on truths, if all they do is crush us?

Jin Kuwana
Possibly the greatest morally gray villain I’ve seen.
RGG Studios, the creators behind Yakuza and also the minds behind Judgment and Lost Judgment, are known for their villains in the games, and Jin Kuwana, the main villain of Lost Judgment, is undoubtedly the greatest villain they’ve made.
Jin Kuwana is a bully hunting serial killer in Lost Judgment, but prior to this he was a High School Teacher. He thought he got along with his class, ignorant to the blatant severity of the bullying of one of his students. The entire class except one girl was tormenting this kid, and Jin dismissed it with a smirk saying not to overdo it. Nonetheless he set up a security camera in a secluded area of his classroom, and the recording showed it all. Simply put on the bullying, Jesus Christ the bullies were heartless.
The victim attempted suicide the day the recording was made, yet the victim was left in a coma. Kuwana knew the justice system would simply give the bullies a slap on the wrist. This led Kuwana to hunt all the unrepented bullies in Japan that caused their victims to attempt to take their own life. This was Kuwana’s way of atonement, leading to the events of Lost Judgment. For 13 years, Kuwana helped the families of some of the victims kidnap bullies in front of them and then execute them, and if the families declined, Kuwana would back off.
What makes Kuwana so damn well written is the reflection of the protagonist Yagami,
1. He reflected the protagonists power and destiny.
2. Has the opposite personality to the protagonist and was a foil to them.
3. Had the same upbringing, but had the opposite world view of the protagonist.
4. Both the Villain and the Protagonist reflecting different ideals.
Kuwana and Yagami had a similar dark past, but both had opposite moral beliefs and views of justice. Yagami still having some faith in the law and doing things the clean way, and Kuwana who lost faith in it and getting his hands dirty, to write their own ways.
What really sticks out to me about Kuwana is that one can argue that he’s doing the right thing. Every bully Kuwana has killed or forced to do his dirty work is a piece of shit. In the end Kuwana got what he wanted in the end, the bad guys facing justice, and he can continue doing his thing, making a mockery of Japans justice system.
One can argue the real world can use someone like Kuwana. There are way too many bullies out there who walk away while the victims continue to suffer or even have gotten killed and seriously ruining lives, some extreme and tragic real case examples along with it.
While I'd personally say Yagami is more in the right between them, their conflict could never have a DEFINITIVE answer and that's what makes them so amazingly written and interesting to watch. How could you ever find the "right" answer in such a muddy, bloody situation? I think the game does definitely set out to say that Kuwana is in the wrong and many of his actions are wrong, as his actions get several more hurt and killed in the process. Regardless of whether the bullies deserve to die, Kuwana is dragging in and getting innocent people killed, but his point about the bullies never having to answer for what they did holds strong and the game never quite goes as far as to condemn him completely, having him walk into the distance with his fate left ambiguous. Just masterful storytelling.
This truly begs the question,

i think the thing that really gets to me about kuwagami is that even if they never see each other again they'll probably think about each other for the rest of their lives

Let’s point and laugh at the old man who doesn’t know how to play his own video game:
I think at the beginning he says (edited) “ほらもう嫌なんだよ” (Hora mou, iyananda yo) - this means “Look…I don’t like this anymore” (thank you for the help denimdisaster!). “やだこういうの” “やだこれ” (“Yada kou i uno” “Yada kore”) both kinda mean the same thing here. It’s essentially “No, no, no, no” etc
idk what he says right at the end tho…basically, he knows he’s ass
edit: he’s probably saying “気を落とすよ" (Ki o otosu yo) which is roughly “I let myself down” (again, thank you denimdisaster!)
