It turns out I don't have a natural talent for flocking doll heads. However, my extra Kid Kore 7.5" doll has now had his gender affirmed as Ben, a boy doll who has socially transitioned and takes his place in the community as Kelsey's younger brother. I've pleased with the match between their hair colors.

Kenzo, as the only adult male role model in the community, is ready to take Ben out to play catch.

Next year, I will probably remove and redo the flocking, but hey, let's give it a chance to flake off on its own. Building the crown of Ben's head with flocking so that the little plastic edge didn't make him look like the offspring of a Kappa was quite the project.

For the next 3 weeks, personal and business travel rule out much in the way of crafting, so this is a good point for calling Ben's transition done and tidying up.

I love so much babea, and I was wondering, how would it be like if Bea had a nightmare? like, she's a kid and she's literally seeing exorcism and that stuff, so it would be normal to have nightmare. Would she go for Mary or Shannon? or pretend to be tough? Me: S5 Debbie is actually a pretty realistic effect of S4 Debbie realizing every single adult in her is fallible as a result of Fiona's arrest and her endangering Liam and Liam's hospitalization

Me: further it's what marks a change in her relationship with Fiona since before that she very much saw her as a mother figure but the last mother figure she had left and this one made mistakes that shook the whole family. When Fiona says "I don't know what I'm doing either" and Debbie says "everyone knows that" she's almost resentful. She's grappling with the fact that not everyone in her life is solid as she thought and she's still at an age when she needs them to be. This is also the time when Fiona's working more and Lip is at college and Debbie goes from having a family dinner every night to only some nights seeing her older siblings.

Me: Lip was probably the last person she saw as infallible but then with his alcoholism she also realizes "oh he's a dumbass too" this is what leads her to feel the need to be hyper independent something she fails miserably at because she's fifteen and her brain hasn't fully developed. This is also what leads her to look to people like Sletvana and her fake friends as role models because she feels like the ones she had before she can't use and That along with her needing family both to having friends up depending on one and realizing later she ( felt like she) Couldn't depend on hers leads to a lot of her bad decisions and when you think about that and how she wasn't some simulation doll in s1-s3 but a person who developed and reacted to everything that happened it-

This morning, as a break from trying to figure out the right hotel for our Las Vegas trip, I pulled off my excess Kid Kore Katie's head, got myself a pair of tweezers, and yanked out the excess hair tufts.

The way the rooting holes along the hairline are starting to merge explains why brushing this doll's hair always pulled out tufts.

I found Ben some more-or-less fitting clothing that doesn't scream Princess. Ordinarily, I'd be in favor of boys enjoying princess-y things, but Ben's been forced to present as a girl for 30 years. He is enjoying a good wallow in stereotypical boyness. In a few years, he may feel renewed enthusiasm for a flowered shirt, but that's for Future!Ben to deal with.
