Quirk: Eldritch Terror

The Quirk is based entirely on the mental state of the user. When the user is unstable, it causes a Dark Shadow-Like entity to emit from the user. This entity remains attached to the user and cannot move further than 10 feet, but it can create weapons or pull objects from a personal pocket dimension. When the user is stable, the user is noticeably more docile and the entity manifests around the user's neck like a scarf.

Strengths:

Unlimited space in the pocket dimension

“It” can lift up to 200 lbs of weight

“It” can form tangible weapons that can be blunt or sharp

Drawbacks:

Has a radius of 10 ft

To get stronger results, the user must sacrifice mental stability and basically for himself into a panic attack/psychotic breakdown

There is a slim chance of the user actually going to sleep due to the eyes of “It” constantly being open and aware, making the user awake and aware.

BACKSTORY

Kenta was born to abusive and narcissistic parents who wanted a child to get benefits. His father would constantly drink and take out his frustrations on his family while his mother would be distant and gave little to no attention to Kenta. They thought Kenta simply had a second set of eyes as his quirk, so they thought he was worthless until his quirk fully manifested at age 7, when the stress finally consumed him into a mental breakdown, forming “It”. “It” acted purely on instincts and protected Kenta for a year until a concerned neighbor heard the sound of a particularly bad night from his father. An investigation was done and was deemed that no one was safe in the household and Kenta was put into a protective service meant for children with volatile quirks. Eraserhead was attempted to be contacted to look after the boy, but at the time, he was too new and busy to take care of a child, but Pro Hero Snow Skater, aka Ryuusei Kasai, stepped up after hearing the story of the child. He took Kenta in and Kenta slowly developed better into controlling his quirk. Kenta grew up with trust issues, but he was able to develop a good relationship with his adopted father. When the time came to decide a high school, Kenta decided to go to UA so he could be a Hero that would help kids like him and to possibly become a teacher as well. Now in his second year, Kenta shows potential for being among the next “Big 3” when he moves up to his 3rd year.

Syb’s 2022 MOTY List

Hellooooo tumblr! I thought I’d share a short list of the wrestling matches that really stuck with me this year. I’m not going to dig up links for these since this is basically a Syb Loved It list without any coherence necessarily, but if you any of these really speak to you feel free to shoot me a DM and I’ll try to find you a link!

1. Jun Kasai vs El Desperado (TAKATaichiDespeMania, 12.09.2022)

This is just a beautiful, beautiful death match whose core message is about celebrating being alive. It hit me in my core self. 15/10 would watch again anytime.

2. K-Ness Retirement match ( DG The Gate Of Passion 2022 ~ Final Burst Out! K-Ness Forever - Tag 4 - 07.04.2022 )

If there was ever a match to show you how beautiful it is that wrestling is a real-time story that can perform death as well as life-- it’s this one. Please enjoy that K-ness is tagging with his longtime tag partner (Yokosuka) against his forever rival (Dragon Kid) and his wrestling-son (Kzy). It’s a beautiful match and brought tears to my eyes.

3. Kazusada Higuchi vs. Yukio Sakaguchi (God Bless DDT 2022, 23.10.2022)

The lead-up to this match made me insane -- if I could recommend all the house shows leading up to this, I would. This is a story about Higuchi who was mentored by Sakaguchi coming into his own and having to face his mentor in the ring. It’s deeply beautiful and also romantic and intense. Pro wrestling is a love story for real.

4. KENTA vs Zack Sabre Jr. (NJPW G1 Climax 32, 17.07.2022)

Two grown men arguing about who is Senpai. Need I say more?

5. Katsuyori Shibata vs Orange Cassidy (AEW Rampage #66, 04.11.2022)

Although Shibata wrestling Ren at WK was probably most special to longtime New Japan watchers, the fact that he came to AEW to specifically put the shine on “comedy” wrestler Orange Cassidy, did some awesome comedy spots and put on a killer match, and OC was his first loss since his in-ring return? Mwah mwah perfection.

Other favorite things 💙 (or how I got into wrestling)

HOOKhausen My gateway drug, I wouldn’t be watching wrestling if not for gifs of their tag team courtship. Even now, when I go back and watch their promos, I get all soft.

CM Punk vs MJF feud Yes, like 90% of tumblr I also saw the dog collar match gifs. After Hookhausen had caught my eye, I stumbled across Outside Interference’s video, which inspired me to go through all the shows to watch the full segments. I got to know lots of wrestlers along the way, very enjoyable way of exploring AEW for the first time, and very worth doing for the feud itself too.

G1 Climax 32 Although Forbidden Door introduced quite a few NJPW wrestlers, none of it really stuck (too many new faces and acronyms and mostly me laughing at and being impressed by Excalibur trying to power his way through it all). So G1 was me following El Phantasmo and getting to know the New Japan roster. Most of the matches weren’t as memorable as the ones I listed above, mostly on account of it all being very new to me. But I did get really into it as the tournament went on and had a blast.

Especially women’s wrestling is lacking on my list. I kept hoping for something in AEW to really drag me into it but unfortunately my fav got injured (I miss Kris!!) and I do need some narrative to hook me, but that didn’t happen 😔. I am enjoying Jamie Hayter having the belt, though, and there’s plenty of women on the roster I do like, so I’m keeping an eye out. NJPW and Stardom having their show introduced me to Stardom, so I might give that a go too.

Thoughts on the hit indie game Judge Eyes because it’s so cool and fun

So I've been playing Judge Eyes for some time now and I gotta say, it’s funky fresh. Now, what do I mean exactly? Lemme elaborate... And before I do, let me say this, I'm only on chapter 7, so while I haven’t experienced everything, I feel like I've seen enough to give a proper opinion and whatnot, now, let’s start with...

Yagami, he’s pretty cool as a protagonist, he’s no Ichiban but he’s got his own level of funk that makes him unique, while he can sometimes appear pretty stoic and serious (which is understandable given what the story is about and where it’s going), he has his softer moments, his comedic bits especially with Kaito which is something I also adore, that’s how much the two bounce off each other, I need more moments with the two. While on the topic of Yagami, he brings with him some excellent combat, I never really enjoy Kiryu’s style of fighting post Dragon Engine games (and even then, his fighting style can get a little repetitive), but Yagami’s funk is welcomed with open arms as he brings in two fighting styles that, y’know, actually feel like they have impact like ‘Tiger’ and it’s heavy hitting abilities and Crane’s more light fighting style that’s better suited to crowds, though Crane could use some more upgrades but it’s fine as is.

As much as I wanna list off all my boys, like Higashi, Kaito, etc., I wanna bring someone else into the spotlight, Hamura. He’s... Well, many things, mysterious, genuinely menacing, hateable... Horny for Higashi, like bro what was that flashback. But when I say ‘genuinely menacing’, it feels like he has actual presence, if he’s in the same room with Yagami, you know that stuff is about to go down, the whole hunt for Yagami was something I missed from previous RGG titles (take the first Yakuza game with the Nishikiyama goons being around Kamuro after Shindo’s fight)…

And don’t even get me started on this fight, if I may... The most hype moment in the whole game so far. Lemme explain, after trying to get Hamura and his boys off Yagami’s back so he could solve his murder mystery, Hamura lures him into a café, then proceeds to let his boys beat the ever living hell out of Yagami until he can barely stand up, a scene that was hard to watch as you just can’t fight back, it’s even more tense when Hamura pulls out an ice pick, aiming for Yagami’s eyes, but when he forces Hamura off of him, saying it’s his turn? Dynamic opening, “Hyenas Wheezing” starts, thud sound affect as him and Kengo come face to face, group battle after Kengo and after that? Sugiura saves Yagami and thus begins one of the best chase scenes so far with Yagami yoinking a skateboard and fighting off any Matsugane members that get too close, I love this part so much, I can’t.

I’d talk about the story, but let’s leave that for when I actually complete it, but in my opinion it’s pretty damn... Confusing, yet interesting, I'm slow, alright?

The side stuff is also pretty cool, being able to customize your office, even if a little, the friendship system coming back and feeling more alive with some friends wandering the streets and helping in fights. Cats. Yagami’s added mobility.

Final thoughts, though? Kenta Kasai my beloved mess

Also I obtained Ishin! recently, on chapter 3 so far so expect my thoughts on it at some point.

The following is a timeline that I use to figure out what's happening in which year in the Persona universe.

Some dates are estimations, but I never include them unless I find something conclusive.

The timeline is only to guide you to find a specific event quicker. Feel free to modify a copy of the timeline to suit your needs, whether its for fangames, fanfics or just plain curiosity. Spoiler alert for everything.

NOTE: The reason I used the 80s as the date Nakajima made his program is mostly due to it being the date that Digital Devil Story was published (taking into account the technology it would be shown). It ended up working perfectly for the timeline, so I let it be.

The reason the events of 1996 and 1999 look so cramped, its because Persona 1 and 2 don't provide dates beyond years, one thing happening after the other.

Should a timeline to clear a dungeon or palace appear in the game, I will put the last possible day to clear it as the day it was done.

- Nyx wandered space until she crashed with the Earth, becoming the moon

- Plumes of Dusk shed off of Nyx's body

- Humanity develops a collective subconscious (without knowing) and lock away Nyx's psyche

- Erebus is created as the manifestation of grief and negative emotion. Should he reach Nyx, The Fall will happen

Full Fighting Spirit Unleashed, New Japan Road, King Of Pro Wrestling Cards: Tiger Hattori Retirement, El Desperado Returns, 4 Hiroshi Tanahashi 20th Anniversary Matches, Liger v. Suzuki; Umino, Narita Going On Excursion

New Japan Pro Wrestling unleashed a torrent of show lineups today, as the Fighting Spirit Unleashed tour starts Friday in Lowell, MA, going through the weekend.

Surprisingly, we are actually getting two title matches on this tour, one I thought would be saved for King of Pro Wrestling (see below), as on Friday, the Guerrillas of Destiny hold their 7th defense of the IWGP Heavyweight Tag Team titles against an ostensibly juniorheavyweight team in Roppongi 3K. But they built to this match during the Destruction tour so it’s all fair. Saturday’s show from the Hammerstein Ballroom in NYC also features a title bout, this time KENTA making his 1st defense of the NEVER Openweight belt against, erm, YOSHI-HASHI. OK. All of this pales to the main event from Philadelphia on Sunday, as there is a special TWELVE-MAN Elimination match, featuring Ricky Morton and Robert Gibson.

Yes. It is 20fekhakta19, and the Rock'n'Roll Express, are headlining a New Japan Pro Wrestling show, in the ECW Arena, on Sunday. Words I never in a million years thought I would write.

Whilst these cards may not be... the best?... it is important to remember, too, that these are also the retirement shows for referee Tiger (Masao) Hattori, having been a referee for over 42 years, starting in the NWA in the USA, but spending the majority of his career in NJPW, including doing PR work for the company. His presence will be missed in the NJPW ring.

Returning on these shows are TJP, Mikey Nicholls, and Amazing Red gets one more stint in the NJPW ring as well.

The lineups for King Of Pro Wrestling were also announced, in addition to the lead-up New Japan Road tour. New Japan Road shows are usually ones where they hit venues not commonly touched by NJPW, and they typically have all-native lineups. This time, however, there is a show that will be on NJPWWorld from Tokyo Korakuen Hall.

During New Japan Road, and culminating at King of Pro Wrestling, will be not one but FOUR Hiroshi Tanahashi 20th Anniversary Matches. They are all more or less the same match, honestly, but it’s all in celebration. Tanahashi debuted in NJPW on 10/10/1999, against Shinya Makabe; all four of these matches will feature the man now known as Togi Makabe as his opponent as well. Should all be good fun.

As for KOPW, the final supercard of 2019, some interesting additions to the card. First off, we have the return of El Desperado (Kyosuke Mikami) after being out since just before Best Of The Super Juniors, having had his jaw broken in a deathmatch against Jun Kasai at a TAKA Taichi Produce show. Interestingly, he will be teaming with the man who took his spot, DOUKI, in the opener of the show.

Also added to the show in a Jushin Thunder Liger v. Minoru Suzuki singles match. I would have sworn they would have made that Liger’s retirement match at WK14, but what do I know. NJPW are really pushing the Kishin Liger angle, so we may see a resurgence of that as well.

In addition to the three title matches already announced, they have also made official the briefcase match between Kota Ibushi v. EVIL, for the right to challenge the IWGP Heavyweight Champion, whomever that will be (it’ll be Okada) at WK14.

In the meantime, two wrestlers who will not be appearing in the NJPW ring very much in the near future are the two senior Young Lions, Shota Umino & Ren Narita. We already knew Narita asked to go to the LA Dojo, and Katsuyori Shibata has granted that. He will be working the Fighting Spirit Unleashed shows as part of this excursion.

In the meantime, Shooter will be leaving the tender arms of Jon Moxley and is due to head to the UK, to work in Revolution Pro Wrestling. I don’t have any dates or matches, but I will keep you posted on that. This is a bit of a surprise, both the excursion happening now, and the location.

Especially since, NJPW already had a Young Lion on excursion in the UK, and indeed, one in CMLL. Neither of whom have been seen lately. What’s up with that? Well... I’ve been slowly trying to find out, and hopefully I can report on that soon.

We wish both Shooter and Ren the best on their journeys.
