Barrie's first series as Sergeant Cork had not long #finished when this aired‚ tho his performance is far removed from the grumbly‚ twinkly Victorian detective. Neve is excellent of course but #hasn't much to do besides be lovelorn; Cockrell (the object of her devotion) was a fine crusading reporter in series 1 but he's rather #listless here. for the second time someone attempts to frame Simon by placing a Saint calling card at the scene of a crime; in fact in the #tv version of The Saint‚ we've never actually seen Simon do that‚ so one wonders where the baddies are getting the idea from.

PREVIEW: STARS ON ICE AT ROGERS ARENA - MAY 19TH, 2022

You’ll recognize the names Kurt Browning and Elvis Stojko, icons for what they’ve accomplished on both the national and world stage during their careers in the sport. Tour director/choreographer Jeffrey Buttle and former national junior champion Elladj Baldé will certainly bring flair and character to the ice. Baldé has done extensive work to bring the sport into mainstream culture, while increasing accessibility in BIPOC communities and supporting self-expression beyond competition. His activism alone inspires. 

Ice dancers Kaitlyn Weaver and Andrew Poje are slated to perform, in addition to two-time US champion Alissa Czisny and four-time Japanese champion Satoko Miyahara. Known for her elegance, grace and attention to detail in performances, Miyahara announced her retirement from competitive figure skating in March. She’ll be one to watch in her North American debut in Stars On Ice. Rounding out the cast is Kaetlyn Osmond, a formidable Canadian champion whose ‘Swan Lake/Black Swan’ program is still one of my all-time favourite free skates – you may remember it helping her win the bronze medal at the 2018 Winter Olympics in PyeongChang, and the World title a month later in Milan. 

Expect a jam-packed show with both individual and ensemble performances, costume changes, and great music. Across two acts, the skaters will perform to a melting pot of tracks including Noah Cyrus’ “Lonely,” The Rolling Stones’ “How Can I Stop” and Dolly Parton’s “9 to 5,” with a cast finale to an Elton John medley. I’m almost certain Messing and Baldé will show off their signature backflips, and there will be jumps, spins, lifts, and crossovers for days! 

Programs to watch for include Messing’s humbling free skate this season (to “Home”), Miyahara’s interpretation of Barbara Pravi’s “Voilà,” and any of the cast medleys that start and finish the acts. It’s chemistry and genuine happiness to be skating that can’t be feigned. 

Stars On Ice has captured fans around the world for over thirty years, highlighting some of the sport’s brightest talent in an interactive experience. Tapping into the athletes’ showmanship and athleticism, the night will prove that different (but equally rich) backgrounds can come together and create magic.

"If we're not.. Friends, then what are we?"

"That's something I'll have to figure out.."

Those words kept echoing through Ezhno's mind, currently sat in his room and staring to the new prosthetic arm he was gifted. It was.. Quite different than what he was used to, but the metals were all ones he wasn't allergic to.

Not that he told anyone his allergy to metals, but, that wasn't his worry. No, it was how he gained it..

"Darling, it's your own damn fault for getting into an unnecessary fight."

Ezhno hide to bite his tongue at that comment when it first happened. It wasn't unnecessary.. It wasn't even uncalled for. Pulling his knees to his chest, he gave a deep sigh and wrapped his arms around his knees, cold metal touching his other arm and making him flinch a bit. The guy had it coming, he just used to wrong arm to swing is all! Heh.. Heh...

A deep sigh left Ezhno, resting on his knees and shutting his eyes. Tears gathered and fell, getting caught in his lashes as he closed them.

"You're just as broken as I am.."

"I suppose that's the only thing we have in common.."

Moving swiftly through the halls, new prosthetic arm hidden by fabric of clothing, he was still waiting for his old one.. Not that he wasn't grateful for the new one, but staring was at an all time high because of it, and he hated it. The staring not the prosthetic- Ugh..

A quiet whimper left him at pain spiking through as arm, stopping right at the end where metal met skin. He ignored it, using his arm despite the painful protest that spiked through it. Fixing himself up some coffee from the lack of sleep he got last night, memories frantically passing through his mind, before snatching up the black coffee once it had finished. He wanted out of sight of everyone, and now, he had things to do any-

"C'mon, you're really gonna trust a vampire to do dirty work like that?" Ezhno paused before he made it into the hallway, waiting in his spot and listening behind the wall.

"It's not dirty work.. It's dirty dirty work." The second voice spoke, much more mischievous and much more menacing.. This wasn't someone that Salem knew, nor did he.. Wait a minute, wasn't this the same guy that Keegan stood up for him for?

Glancing to his cup of coffee, he swapped hands to clamp it with his prosthetic, taking a deep breath in and walking into the hallway. Yep, those were the same two. 'Full circle' Ezhno thought, as he tripped, the black coffee going on the two and staining the white bits of clothing a brown, not appealing in the slightest. Of course, Ezhno 'apologized', excusing of his new prosthetic. This got a bit of yelling, but the male kept his cool, which only pissed the guy off more, particularly when Ezhno grabbed his cup and walked back to the kitchen without retaliation.

Going over to the coffee pot, he poured another cup up, using his human hand to grab and carrying the cup towards his office. His head was a little higher than normal as he walked. Maybe today wasn't so bad..

A knock on the door caused Salem to sigh, glancing back to the door. "Come in."

A whistle and click of a tongue made the vampire confused, turning to the door completely to see a Toppat duck in. This wasn't Brutus. Yet again, Brutus very rarely knocked, so what was he expecting? "What is it?"

The Toppat moved over to Salem, a few squeezes of his hands together, before one palm pressed to his chest, and the other dove into his pocket, pulling out a piece of paper, and handing it over. A squeak and click of his tongue rang after.

Salem glanced between the paper and the male's face and top hat. Seamstress, no one ever tampered with their own top hats. Eyes giving a glare directly to the other's eyes, it didn't waver to cheerful Toppat member in the slightest. With a sigh, he practically yanked the note out of the Toppat's hand, before opening it up and reading it:

'What comes around, goes around.' A string of numbers followed, causing Salem to glare at it and turn to where the Toppat... stood... What the?

Salem looked around a bit more, seeing the Toppat member completely gone from the room. How did he..? He glanced down to the numbers again, seeing the vague familiarity of it and the camera numbers. Along with a timing, and the code to get audio. How did he?!

Glancing around, Salem sighing and popped open a nearby laptop, typing in the pass code, before typing in the numbers into a surveillance app. Okay, there's the camera, there's the audio, and there's the... Time...

Watching with wide eyes, the scene that played, it was enough information for him to know what had happened. The coffee spill, Ezhno's voice, the conversation of confusion and anger between the other two.. He looked to the piece of paper again, 'What cones around, goes around'.. He flicked the laptop off and shoved it to the side, before moving out of the room to Ezhno's office.

Behind the opened door, Keegan peaked his head out, watching with trained eyes to see exactly what was happening. He gave a small giggle to himself once Salem was far out of ear shot, shutting the door and flipping the sign to 'Not in', before moving in the other direction, towards the kitchen. Little, pale yellow stars followed him, dancing around his head and hands as he moved.

Without knocking, Salem opened the door to Ezhno's office and slammed it shut. This barely broke Ezhno's thought, thinking it was just another Toppat getting upset at a mission- "Thank you." What.

Ezhno looked up to be met with deep red eyes peering at him with great intensity. Almost glaring at him. He closed his own eyes, shrugging and only opening then when he was staring at the paper below. "I don't fight without a reason."

"Breaking your prosthetic over someone's head is just a angry occurrence, then, darling?" Salem said, walking over and grabbing the top hat off of the other's head. This made the human look up, hair falling from its normal place and revealing the scaring on both sides of his head. For once, Ezhno didn't care, shaking his head and looking back down.

"It's not an angry occurrence. I just happen to be angry when it happens." Ezhno said, practically hearing the confusion without having to see Salem's face. Of course, the heist planner glanced up for a moment and fought back a smile from seeing red eyes squinted with a look that said 'that's the same thing'. "How did you know?"

"Some Toppat gave me the codes. Burnt orange hat with red stitching on the rim." Salem sat down in the chair on the other side of Ezhno, glancing around the room. Practically a broom closet, filing cabinets that held heist plans, and backup plans, event specifics- Man.. How-?

"Keegan. My roommate." Ezhno sighed and dropped the pen down, leaning back and looking at Salem. "I told him not to worry about it." He said, shaking his head a bit and moving his human hand to re-cover scars that had revealed. When offered his hat back, he took it and settled it down. "I know he cares, but he really doesn't need to. I mean-"

"I'm not much worth a care for." Those words began to echo in Salem's mind, his eyes focusing on Ezhno, yet staying untrained and distant. Before either of them could recognize, Salem was stood up and the desk was shoved out of the way, putting nothing between Ezhno and Salem other than air. And even THAT gap was closed, Salem getting close to Ezhno's face and grabbing the collar to pull him upwards a bit. "Don't you EVER say that!"

They stayed like this in silence for a long moment, before Ezhno broke it with a small chuckle. That evolved to a giggle. That evolved with Salem joining him in laughter. Salem set the other male down, moving back into his chair and crossing his arms over his chest once the laughter died down.

"You wanna say 'it's complicated' again to our friendship?" Ezhno remarked, cocking a brow to the other.

"I'd kill to protect you."

"You'll say anything other than 'friends', huh?"

"Darling, we're past the point of friends. We skipped that step two days ago."

"We barely knew each other!"

"You need to get out of this broom closet."

"Don't change the subject!"

This caused another bought of laughter to ring by the two, almost joyous for how loud it was. With Ezhno shoving his foot on Salem's chair and causing it to shift, poking his tongue out playfully, Salem smirked with a look that said 'watch out'.

Simple to say: they both felt alive and human for the first time in a while.

Marne Maitland for once isn't a bad guy‚ tho you could hardly call his #self serving bar manager a Good guy. this episode belongs entirely tho to Aubrey Morris‚ giving a deliciously grotesque turn as a murderous #henchman who giggles and squirms his way through the ep; it's the kind of creepy role he'd be typecast in for a while (see his guest spots #in It's Dark Outside and Man in a Suitcase for further evidence‚ as well as big hitters like The Wicker Man and A Clockwork Orange) #tho he was an actor of great range and ability. Moody was a genuine American who'd come over to the uk and would do a slew of tv genre #stuff before promptly retiring at the start of the 70s. she did appear in the Saint doc Network put together in 2008 tho so presumably #happy to discuss her (comparatively brief) time on the show

A goodbye

After almost 12 (!) years, it’s time for me to say goodbye to this blog. It will not be deleted though.
