Modern au where Kaveh is an art professor who spends his weekends meeting his friends at the bar to play cards or jamming with them in a corner. Recently, Haitham started coming to that bar, sitting in the back pretending to be busy when he's actually there because he has a crush on the blond guy with the guitar.
One evening, while they were playing cards, one of Kaveh's friends —noticing the glances from Haitham— challenges Kaveh to go talk to him if he loses at UNO.
Well, of course, he loses lol otherwise what would I be writing about? ahah but anyway, Kaveh goes to talk to Haitham. "Excuse me, can I sit here?" he asks, genuinely embarrassed, and for a moment, Haitham is breathless. He nods, and Kaveh sits, looking at the book in his hand to start a conversation:—"You're cool when you play" but Haitham preceded him "Cool?" he smiles amusedly. "Yes—" he murmurs uncomfortably. "Do you perform anywhere?" he closes the book, leaving it on the table. "Not really, we just have a channel on YouTube" he says. "It's nothing special, we don't really have time for these things" he blushes. "Pity" he looks into Kaveh's eyes, unexpectedly feeling at ease. "Can I follow you on there?" he asks, receiving an affirmative answer. He leaves the name of the channel on the bar napkin, along with the Instagram page if he wants to follow them there too. "See you, Kaveh" he says, carefully tucking the napkin into his wallet. "Hey!" he calls out before he exits the door. "What's your name?" the man smiles. "Haitham" and with a final farewell, he leaves, leaving Kaveh momentarily stunned but happy.

Round 1 of preliminaries, group 11
Tumblr media
The first two places get a place on the bracket
Little reminder: there will be 2 more rounds of preliminaries, the losing blorbos of this poll still have 2 chances of getting in the official bracket
Propaganda under the cut
Mae Borowski (Night in the Woods)
"Spoilers! She's a college dropout in her early twenties, who suffers from untreated mental illness and dissociation and had a complete breakdown at college, causing her to come home. Now she's living with her parents again, but life in her dingy little hometown went on without her. Her friends are adults now - in a relationship and planning on moving to the big city, or having to waste away in a dead end job instead of following their dreams. Mae is the only one without a new adult role in life. She's not great with people either - she's blunt and often doesn't think things through, and in many ways just doesn't get the world of adults. She's also prone to petty crimes and general anarchy. She's kind of lost and purposeless, and trying to find meaning in life by desperately clinging to the past. Her decision to drop out of college probably saved her life, but it's also put her family in a tough financial situation and is viewed by most people as her just thoughtlessly doing whatever she wants. She's also kind of shamed a lot about not having a job or other productive role in life, despite the fact that her untreated mental issues are actually disabling for her. She also plays the bass real bad. Anyway, i love Mae a lot. Playing this game as a college dropout in my early twenties, sitting in my childhood bedroom in my mom's attic, back in my dingy little hometown, desperately missing my old friends who have all moved on to better, resposible things in life... yeah, it felt like the game was pointing dead at me. Given tumblr's general demographic, i figure i must not be completely alone in this"
Shigeo Kageyama / Mob (Mob Psycho 100)
"autistic. likes milk. if we reach a certain level of emotion we turn into a psychic bomb. cool brothers :)"
Barry the Quokka (The Murder of Sonic the Hedgehog)
"Their only skill is working the microwave, they're non-binary, when seeing a trash bin their first instinct is to look through it, they're always the most normal person in the room, they can beatbox, and they were only hired due to being the only one who applied."
Kaveh (Genshin Impact)
"In a fantasy world, be a guy with a regular profession losing his goddamn mind. Poor guy has a guilt complex, (so true) and a lot of deep embarrassment regarding his life.(ehe) He just wants to do what he's passionate about but capitalism is evil and also he keeps getting scammed. Claims to not want anyone to know Things, goes into depth about these Things anyway. Is probably most definitely gay. Can be found face down on a table lamenting his fate. Terrible sleep schedule. (HA) He is such a guy. Wants to believe the world is a good place and people are inherently good. And wants to help people and do good himself. It's just hard. [And he has a roommate. Oh my god he has a roommate]"
"He was, and still is, regarded a genius. He aced his Akademiya days, he has the admiration and appreciation of so many people because he is oh-so remarkable. But what for, when reality is that he sits at home depressed and with guilt consuming him, faking the image people have of him, not only broke as fuck but actually in debt, drowning his sorrows in wine."
Yusuke Kitagawa (Persona 5)
"highschooler who wants to spend the rest of his life doing what he loves. is obsessed with art and beauty and it's on his mind 24/7 received help from his now friendgroup to break from his abusive foster father who he still have complicated feelings with had to move into school dorms and am struggling to live independantly since he'd rather spend money and time on his art but he's still surviving and enjoying the good times id say also ends up saying whatever is on his mind and is pretty eccentric. very passionate about what he loves. doesn't want to do anything else."
Nanami Kento (Jujutsu Kaisen)
"Ex-salaryman, now jujutsu sorcerer. During one life-and-death fight, kept talking about how it was almost six pm with is when he is getting off work at 6pm no matter what because he hates overtime. While his opponent repeatedly almost kills him. Normalest adult in this shonen anime. Teen MC: "Let's go all out!" Nanami: "No. Where moderate effort will suffice, use moderate effort." Some of his quotes from the anime: "I studied at Jujutsu Tech and one thing I learned is that Jujutsu Sorcerers are shit! Then I worked at your typical company and one thing I learned is that work is shit! If both are equally shit I'll take the one I'm more suited to." "You've faced several life-or-death situations, but that does not make you an adult. Finding more fallen-out hairs on your pillow, watching your favourite stuffed bread disappear from the convenience store... The accunulation of these little despairs is what makes a person an adult." "I don't praise or disparage anyone. I adhere to facts and judge on that basis. That's who I am. There was a time when I mistakenly believed society operated the same way." "

NOW THAT ACADEMY!KAVEH AND ACADEMY!AYATO ARE OUT. CAN WE GET SOME CRUMBS ON THEM (Maybe even academy!thoma/ayato crumbs if ur feeling real funky 🤲)
third year - kaveh:
i've said this before, but kaveh was supposed to be on the candidates for valedictorian's list but fell out due to a recent drop in his grades
still, a lot of people look up at him, so he continues to act as if he's got everything together and he's not actually a second away from a breakdown
probably one of the few third years who don't beef with their junior harem members. he's especially fond of the first-years because he sort of pities them for entering into this highly competitve school (and he wishes that their dreams don't get crushed too soon).
on that note, he's quick to invite you and whatever first-year you're with and buy you guys free food.
has his group of friends, which is haitham, cyno, and nari. haitham likes to bring up the fact that it's a bit sad for a third-year to be hanging out with only second-years.
has little contact with his mother. he loves her. but. :///
has a habit of latching onto your arm whenever you two walk together. he's not very clingy towards people, but somehow people always see him latching onto you every time you two are together.
a bit childish... or maybe just lacking in physical affection. he immediately melts whenever you pat his head or just give him a hug. beware though, it might be a long time before he lets go of you.
him and haitham play good cop and bad cop whenever you're stuck between the two of them. kaveh's always scolding him for telling you such ridiculous stuff ("you did not get perfect just because he helped you!" "oh please, as if they could do that on their own.") and whatever he says to haitham goes in one ear out the other.
third year - ayato
does not live in the dorms but has his own penthouse because the kamisato also own a portion of the entertainment distict on the island
he's also in charge of said portion, so he's a very busy man balancing education and family business
he's in the tea ceremony club that zhongli's in, because it's quiet there and doesn't have many needless activities. he enjoys good tea and intellectual chatter without having to interact with annoying people
it's very funny to see him in the club though, sipping on his cold boba milk tea while everyone else enjoys their more traditional tea
does not use the public transportation system when travelling to and fro. moves along in his limousine with ayaka and thoma. when he sees you walking on the pavement, the driver pulls up beside and you the windows roll down, revealing the three of them motioning for you to come in
does not enjoy the social gatherings that the academy arranges from time to time, so ayaka is usually accompanied by thoma and forced to do all the socializing for him
however, if you show up, he's quick to dazzle everyone with his pretty face and luxury brand outfit. you know, just to show off in front of you.
kinda sus with thoma. when the two aren't separated by classes, thoma's always walking beside ayato. ayato gets a little handsy? intimate? with him which starts rumors
^ it doesn't help that thoma blushes a lot whenever ayato does that, so a lot of their fans have begun thinking that there may be something between them
a popular rumor is that one of the fans have heard the two of them behind a door, with very strange and suspicious sounds. he had immediately dashed off to excitedly gush about it to the other fans ("ah, thoma, that's too...!" "ayato-sama, please don't move too much or else...!" <- thoma is fixing ayato's hair)
loves pissing off the other harem members, whether it be hogging you or just verbal warfare, which is dangerous, as most of these people are just as rich and powerful. if he wasn't so obsessed with you, he would've kept up that smiling facade of his and be careful not to tick anyone off. but he's an obsessive jerk, so he takes great pleasure in their irritation
^ thoma, fixer that he is, is left to clean up his mess and salvage whatever relationships he can.

Sounds of laughter filled the tavern as the 5 of you were drinking. Kaveh clung on to you like a child to a teddy bear. Alhaitham sat beside the two of you drinking his alcohol in moderation. Cyno was drunk and Tighnari was trying his best to stay sober for Cyno.
Kaveh was in the middle of a story about his latest project and shitting on Alhaitham for the other half.
"He bought the ugliest thing the other day. This little statue. Oh my Archons! Alhaitham it's so-"
"Kaveh it's perfectly fine your overacting."
"Perfectly fine?! It's far from-"
You tapped him on the shoulder and whispered in his ear.
"Kaveh, calm down."
He sighed and tried to calm down. You were one of the only people who were able to do that. Kaveh rested his head on your shoulder, he was almost completely drunk at this point. He was adorable when he was drunk though. The way he clung to you like you were gonna leave any second.
You stood up from your chair excusing yourself from the group. You walked up towards the bar, before hearing someone walk up behind you. You turned around to see a tall man with a muscular build much like Alhaitham. But only this man didn't have grey hair, but brown hair.
"What's someone like you doing here." He smirked at you.
"I'm not here alone."
"Sure sure I've heard that lie before."
You turned around just trying to get Yours and the group's drinks, but probably a bad idea. He grabbed your waist, pulling you closer.
"Do you mind?!" You tried to get out of his grip. He let go eventually, but still continued to flirt with you.
"Oh come on cutie~ you're a cute guy/girl/person."
"I have a boyfriend."
"Sure sure."
Before he could say anymore Kaveh appeared behind him and tapped him on the shoulder.  Kaveh glared at him before moving closer to him and wrapped his arms around you. The guy seemed to get the message. He backed away towards his group of friends who all laughed at him for getting rejected. Kaveh had a sad look on his face, he must've felt bad he wasn't there to protect you
"My love, are you okay?"
"I'm fine, I'm just glad he pissed off."
He only hugged you tighter. Once he finally let go, you grabbed your drinks and returned to the group. No one spoke of what happened, no one wanted to ruin the night even more than it was.

➫ A SCHOLAR'S LOVE (2)
♡theme/warnings: cyno/reader, fluff, slight jealousy
♡summary: cyno is terribly smitten by you. absolutely head over heels. thinks everything about you is great- but has no confidence to actually say it to you. you've picked up on his antics and so has your friend group... so will he stay love-sick, or tell you the truth?
Tumblr media
"kaveh, those balloons don't go there." you stated, pointing to a bunch of coloured balloons stuck behind your couch. "i know you're into interior design, but..." you put a finger to your chin, squinting your eye at his choice of decoration. "it really looks like a clown threw up behind our couch."
kaveh raises a brow at you, setting down the last group of balloons with a weight attached to their strings. "oh really now? since when did you spend years researching the ideal grouping of indoor decorations, miss decorator?"
"since it was my birthday, mister."
kaveh groans, moving the balloons back to their original position. "thank you, kaveh~" you sing, walking into the kitchen of your small dwelling. as students of the akademiya, you were given homes to share with each other for the duration of your schooling. you and kaveh shared a house along with al haitham, and cyno and tighnari shared a house with one of their acquaintances.
earlier that day, kaveh had helped you prepare some desserts and appetizers for your birthday party. it was lucky your birthday came on a saturday, leaving you some much needed space from your studies and some time to relax on your special day. some friends and family would be over to celebrate soon, and the after-party would consist of you and your buddies having a sleepover.
everything was perfect, until you realized after looking at what kaveh had made for you; you didn't have a birthday cake.
"kaveh? y-you never made a cake, did you?" you shouted from the kitchen, a little panicked at this discovery.
kaveh walked into the kitchen, analyzing the food on the counter. "shoot. i- sorry, y/n. i must have forgotten… the grand bazaar might have a few stalls with some ingredients- but al haitham said most of them were shut down for a performance." kaveh explained with a hint of regret. he had previously made a list of things to make for the day ahead- yet threw it out thinking he could rely on his memory to finish everything.
"this is because of you getting cocky again, isn't it? listen, i told you to stop being so competitive with al haitham! you can clearly plan a party better than him, i know that, there's no need to prove that to me." you scolded him, putting away the other food you inspected.
"really, y/n, it's nothing like that! i honestly forgot about that stone-faced al haitham today, he's been out all day since the morning doing who-knows-what. i just impulsively threw away the list of food i was supposed to make." he shook his head with his palm on his forehead, disappointed with himself.
"okay, kaveh. i forgive you. we'll just...have to go without one. i'm sure i can whip up some small tart or find a pie stall-"
a knock on the front door cuts your sentence short, some muttering outside catching your attention. kaveh stays in the kitchen, panicking at the leftover mess he forgot to clean up as well.
opening the door, your eyes light up when you see cyno next to tighnari, cyno's hands full with presents and an oddly large square box. "cyno, tighnari! you're here early! come on in." you smile, opening the door fully. cyno says hello and blushes after walking in, tighnari throwing you a wink as a greeting.
having your friends’ company was just the type of pick-me-up you needed after hearing your party wouldn’t be having a birthday cake. it was an integral part of the celebration, after all! kaveh definitely owed you one. after getting everyone situated in the living room, you helped cyno place the presents onto the coffee table.
“oh, ah, y/n. that one-“ he points to the large box, “it needs to be refrigerated.” tighnari quirks a brow at him, wondering what the box’s contents are. “sorry if it’s any trouble, i know it’s quite large.” he deadpans, making you chuckle.
“no, not at all. here, come bring it to the kitchen, we can put it in the fridge. just what is it, exactly?” you inquire, your brain brimming with curiosity. maybe a fruit platter? no… he would have let that stay in plain sight. a new type of mechanical device? nah, he knows you better than that.
“it’s…nothing too special, i’ll let you know when you can look inside.” cyno sounds unsure as he tells you, following you to the kitchen.
kaveh greets him immediately, jumping at your entrance. “ah, cyno’s here! and i’m guessing tighnari tagged along with you?” kaveh nervously asks, tucking his dirty cloth behind him. you roll your eyes, snatching the cloth from him and tossing it into the sink.
“don’t mind him, cy-cy. he’s just embarrassed he managed to make this much of a mess yet didn’t bake me a birthday cake like i asked.” you informed him, throwing a light fist bump to kaveh’s shoulder.
cyno’s eyes lit up at your nickname for him- did he hear you correctly? cy-cy? he could feel his heart begin to swell with joy, a small cough erupting from him out of shock.
“ah- cyno, are you feeling okay? that cough sounded a little dry. anything you wanna drink?” he shook his head, refusing the offer. “okay. just let me know.” you smiled, placing a hand on his shoulder. he shuddered at the action; when did you get so friendly towards him? were you always so attentive like this… ?
at this moment, cyno realized tighnari was right. his worries had definitely caused some clouded judgement.
Tumblr media
at around 4:30pm, al haitham returned home with a bouquet of flowers and a couple bottles of wine to mark the occasion. closing the door behind him, he met with you all in the living room and set down his items on the coffee table, discussing everyone’s day so far.
after talking for some time, it was now around 5pm; the sun painting the sky a beautiful shade of blue with streaks of orange dawning the horizon. everyone gave their greetings to you, wishing you a happy birthday and all the best ahead. you beamed at the energy in the room, it was overwhelmingly positive.
cyno however, was lost in thought, imagining a million different ways this evening could go. would you enjoy your gifts? was what he prepared… too bold? tighnari had told him to make a passionate and sincere gift for you; explaining that when you don’t have the words, sometimes a handmade gift can communicate a message a lot easier. of course he would still have to clarify what his intentions were, but tighnari was sure you would love whatever cyno made. even if it wasn’t the prettiest.
still, the dark haired student had no idea what cyno ended up doing for you. he was just as confused as you when you saw the box, almost second-guessing his advice when he saw how large it was. but remembering how carefully cyno treated his interactions with you; in his heart, he had faith in his friend to make the right decision- to really put his heart into this gift. whatever it may be, tighnari trusted cyno’s judgement.
eventually, people started to filter in and out of the party, parents and grandparents parting a little earlier due to their older age. some presents were opened and others were left to be opened later, as you had gotten pretty tired from all the dancing you did and all the food you consumed. despite kaveh’s oversight of the cake, you would say your party went just as planned!
after all the excitement died down and the sun had finally set for the night, al haitham noticed you had fallen asleep on the couch, laying a blanket over your body. it was just the five of you once more; everyone taking a separate position in the house. cyno was sitting on the other sofa opposite you, head buried in a book al haitham had left on the side table. al haitham was checking to see if you had drank too much- kaveh was cleaning up the decorations strewn across the living room, and tighnari was packaging the leftover food.
as he put some containers of food away, tighnari noticed the box cyno had brought sitting in the middle of the fridge, a pang of guilt hitting his stomach as he forgot to remind cyno to take it out. “ah, dear me. he’s probably got his legs between his tail over this being left behind.” tighnari sat the leftovers down, grabbed the box and brung it to the living room.
“cyno, i think there’s something you forgot to give to miss y/n.” he smiles, setting the box down to poke you awake. you stir in your sleep, making a cute whimper sound that cyno can’t help but squeeze his eyes shut at. you were just… way too cute. it felt out of character for him to be so affected by your actions… but he nonetheless welcomed this warm feeling inside of him whenever he looked at you.
“hwaaa~ hey eweone, whad did i miss?” you yawned, your distorted voice causing kaveh to laugh at you. “don’t laugh, your words are barely comprehendable when you’re awake!” you retort, half smiling at him.
“well, cyno still hasn’t given you your present, you know.” al haitham explains, curious as to what this will lead to. his friends had clearly been planning something behind his back… and it seems behind yours and kaveh’s as well.
“ah, that box! well, come sit everyone. i’ll open it right now.” you smiled, tearing into the wrapping paper. cyno watched with anxiety, nervous about your reaction. tighnari just smiled at him, a silent plea for him to calm his nerves. you can do it, cyno. trust yourself with this.
“wow- oh my goodness, c-cyno, did you really make this…for me?” inside the box was a decorated cake with two layers, the words ‘happy birthday y/n’ written in cursive draped along the top. adorning the rest of the cake were stick figures made of pretzels and frosting, flowers and animals beside them representing you and your friends. “it’s so lovely, when did you have the time to make this?”
cyno’s face was now fully tinted with red, watching you examine each of his dressed pretzel figures with such precision and care as if they were real. “i took the time to study the preparations of a birthday cake a few days before the party. i wanted to make you a gift… that sent a message to you, one that symbolized your importance to me. to us.” he explained, holding your hand as you listened to him, teary-eyed.
“but that isn’t the only part of my gift. i wanted to take you somewhere to show you something. is…that alright?” he asked. tighnari was ecstatic at cyno’s response to his advice- he even planned something extra? it was quite the coincidence that he could make your dreams of having a birthday cake come true- but this was just the icing on top.
“yes, of course. do you guys mind at all? i’m sure it won’t take long.” you asked your friends, hearing no objections. al haitham smirked at the situation before him, of course it was like this, how could he have missed it? kaveh was thinking the same, both of them shooting a glance at each other.
“okay, we’ll be off then. i promise it won’t be long.” cyno smiled, nervously taking your hand in his to guide you outside. there was a small patch of land near the neighbourhood you lived in, clear enough to see the skies and all the stars that wandered across it. he laid next to you on the grass, turning to face you.
“y/n, i have something to tell you that i’ve been thinking of for a while.” he takes a deep breath, reciting his thoughts in his head. “the only reason i chose to say this today was because of tighnari- well, you know how he is. when he sees a flower beginning to bloom, he can’t keep his mouth shut about it.” he chuckled, looking off to the side.
you stared at him dreamily, wondering what his next words would be. the fact you were alone together enjoying the starry sky surely was a gift in itself, but was the flower… meant to represent you two?
“and, my pretty padisarah, you are who i’ve been wanting in my g-garden.” he stutters, making you giggle.
“oh archons, tighnari definitely said that to you as an example of what to say, didn’t he?” you continued to giggle, your contagious laughter spreading to him as well. resting the back of your hand against cyno’s cheek, you tucked a strand of his pearl coloured hair behind his ear, leaning a little closer to him.
“i want you in my garden, too, cyno.”
smiling, he leans further in as well, unsure about his next move until you press your lips to his. the kiss you share is sweet and pure, eliciting sparks in your chests at having your feelings reciprocated.
as you pull away, cyno lies flat on his back, and you copy him. “i’m relieved you feel the same, y/n. i’m sorry if i offended you with my staring lately, i couldn’t figure out how to tell you i liked you.”
you sigh happily, wrapping your arm around cyno’s waist. “oh, don’t worry, part of me felt it was something like this… i just wanted to see if it was really true. truth be told, i wouldn’t have known how to go about it either. i’m glad our friend did the heavy lifting, hehe.”
“yeah, me too.” cyno agrees, staring up at the sky with you. two constellations have become visible now, intertwined with each other as they float across the atmosphere.

٠ ࣪⭑ KARMA.- Scaramouche x reader
Tumblr media
。⋆。 ゚☾ ゚。 20 . Wish you were sober
A/N.- This is a long one so strap in bitches
Tumblr media Tumblr media
You arrived at the party, sightly tipsy from pre-drinks, Hu Tao, Lumine and Ayaka stumbling behind you. You buzz the doorbell and before you had time to think the door was sung open,
“Ladies, and Y/N, looking good!” Childe smiles, “Come on in~” He pulls you inside and loud music already harass you ear drums, you werent drunk enough for this. You follow everyone inside, heading to the kitchen to see Venti, Kaveh and Xiao standing together, “Hello boys,” You giggled, reaching towards the bottle of wine Kaveh was holding, “And you brought me a gift. Love you Kav~” You wink before taking a large swig of the drink, Kaveh went to complain before another bottle was pushed into his hands by venti and he gave him a look, as if to say let them drink it moron. You looked around at the tightly packed apartment,
“More people than last time, seems Childe made some friends” Venti giggles at this comment as you continue to look around, and there stood in the corner, with a red solo cup in his hand was Scaramouche. He looked pissed off with everything around him and was definitely forced to be here. You look away nervously, you knew you were gonna talk to him tonight. You just needed a lot more liquid courage. You continued to talk in the little group for a while, eventually being joined by both Ayaka and Yoimia who looked…closer than normal. Before you could comment there was a tap on your shoulder, as you turned your stomach dropped,
“Y/N, Hello darling…fancy seeing you here” Wearing tight leather pants and a baggy white top, Kaeya smiled at you.
“Kaeya…what a nice surprise, I haven't seen you since…last time” You grimace slightly.
“Oh right, that was sure a fun party. How about I make you a drink?”
“Sure, you half-heartedly agreed, moving away with Kaeya further into the kitchen, not noticing the annoyed eyes that followed your every move.
Tumblr media
After an hour of talking with Kaeya you were feeling comfortably drunk…well enough to have your filter gone and one goal in mind. You brush your hand against his shoulder, looking into the corner where Scaramouche was. “How about we finish this later, I have a…friend…I really need to see” You push slightly past him and strut off before he can even comment. You first headed to the corner where he use to be, seeing he wasn't there your next stop was to check outside, on the balcony. Lo and behold the man was looking over the city, cup on the ground and cigarette firmly in his hands.
“Hey,” You stood next to him, reaching into your bag to pull out a pack of Marlboro golds, taking the cigarette out and lighting it. He glanced over at you, before looking straight on.
“Didnt think you smoked” You giggled,
“Only when drunk.” You leaned your head on his shoulder and he shrugged it off, you made a gasping sound before he threw his smoked cigarette off of the side.
“I don't know what fucking game you're playing Y/N, but if you're going to act like a cheap whore maybe don't do it to everyone at the party…ok?
What. The. Fuck.

TW!! Mentions of kidnapping and a bit of blood
Alhatiham x Kaveh angst
-----
"Kaveh. Kaveh listen to me."
The blonde was limp against his body, no words uttered from his mouth. Alhaitham strokes his hair softly, moving closer to him so that his words directly above his ears.
"Don't worry, Kaveh. We'll bring you back home. You're not with them anymore, you're safe. Hang on in there."
--
"How is he?"
"I don't know. He's just... completely devoid of anything. There's nothing wrong with him, physically. But he just won't talk. Or answer me. Or eat, drink. Any of that. It's like he's empty. I don't know how else to describe it." Tighnari shuffles a bit in his seat. Hair disarrayed from countless hours trying to help his friend has left him baffled at best.
"What do you mean? Surely it's something that can be fixed with some deep sleep, poor guy seems like he hasn’t slept in weeks." The General Mahamatra steps closer to their table of discussion. "It's a good thing we found him today, who knows what they'll do to him if we hadn't barged in"
"Do not talk about those bastards in front of me," Haitham glares at the floor, eyes darkening, "I'll make sure they face far heavier consequences."
"I'm not trying to shift the topic from Kaveh to them. I'm just saying, sleep and rest is probably what he needs right now." Cyno replied, taking a seat beside the botanist.
"I'm not an expert in the form of biology," Tighnari sighs, "but I don't think this is something I can fix without knowing what caused it. I'm going to need data from the interrogation or something."
Alhaitham's eyes seems to be in a trance. For the first time in a while, he wasn't sure what to do.
The job of being a Grand Sage did take a lot of time and attention away from Kaveh, but he didn't think it would come to a situation like this. He came home from work one day, and just... nothing. There was no one in their home. Not his roommate, no food on the table, and even his table that was filled with artwork is now empty.
There was no way he decided to move out on a whim, right?
Even if that was the case, where would Kaveh go?
Alhaitham made sure to make Kaveh treat this house as his own home. As /their/ own home. He made sure to make Kaveh know that this house also belongs to him, and he is always welcome to it.
But perhaps, his lack of presence made Kaveh's confidence in this knowledge waver. Anyhow, he didn't think much of it at the time. He figured Kaveh would've stayed with Tighnari at Gandharva Ville, like he usually does.
What he doesn't usually do is go missing for more than 5 days without notice.
The first clue he got was from Cyno, saying he hadn’t seen Kaveh even though he made regular trips to Gandharva Ville frequently that week.
"Then, he's not with Tighnari?"
"I haven't seen him anywhere. Nari didn't bring him up in any conversations either."
"Are you sure he didn't leave a note?"
Alhaitham shook his head, "There was nothing left in his room. Everything of his is either gone or in disarray. I thought he had left quickly."
"That's weird... even from Kaveh. I've never seen him like this." The General Mahamatra seems to be deep in thought. "I'll gather some information on this. Something tells me this has nothing to do with just a simple leave."
That conversation happened 2 weeks ago. Just today, they traveled across the desert to find a camp of Eremites holding Kaveh hostage.
Despite doing their best to avoid any type of conflict, it still ended with Alhaitham getting a broken arm. But that didn't matter.
His sins didn't matter. Nothing of him matters when his sunshine has lost all light in his eyes.
After trudging back to Gandharva Ville, all hope seems lost when Kaveh doesn't respond to anything. They had accidentally encountered a group of hostile fungi that gave Kaveh a bad injury. But then, they all noticed at the moment of impact, he didn't move.
He didn't yelp. Didn't cry. He just sat there. Staring at the fungi, then at his bruised and blooded arm, back at the fungi. And then just nothing.
He just spaced out.
After ruling it out as just exhaustion and lack of energy, the group continued, hoping it'll be a bit better after he's seated in a comfortable environment.
Seems like it didn't get better.
A deep sigh came out of the Grand Sage as he stood up for the door. Nari's ears perked up at the sudden motion. "Where are you going?"
"To get that data."
"You don't wanna see him first? Though I'm not sure what you could do with him right now."
"... I'll visit in a bit."
And with that, the door slammed a bit too harshly than as it's supposed to be.
A couple days later, Alhaitham came back to Gandharva Ville with a clipboard on hand. As he hands it to Tighnari, the botanist tries to ignore the tiny blood patches on random pages placed throughout the document.
"So, uh... What did you do to them?"
"None of anyone else's business," Alhaitham glared, "I'd like to see him now."
Tighnari sighs as he places the document on top of his research table, "Yeah, sure. Maybe you can coax something out of him. I don’t know how long I’ve tried, but hopefully you can do something about him."
No noise was made when they entered. No sight or greeting followed as they walked towards the bed. Occupying the bed was nothing like how Alhaitham imagined Kaveh would ever look like.
He looked terrible. He looked nothing like himself.
Nari gestured his head to Kaveh and left.
"...Hey" he spoke softly as he stood beside the bed.
No response.
"How have you been feeling?"
...
He sighs, "Kaveh, I know I might not be the person you want to see right now."
"I admit, everything is my fault." He takes Kaveh's limp hand and intertwines it with his. An attempt to comfort, and an attempt to confess his feelings.
Before he regrets not telling if the other doesn't survive.
He knew it was a bit too sudden to say something like this. And it wouldn’t be Kaveh’s ideal confession either. But he dreads the regret more than anything right now.
"I should've known," he continues, voice in a whisper, "I should've known something was wrong."
'I thought you've finally decided to leave. And I thought I was too harsh on you. I thought maybe... maybe you just had enough of me."
Carmine eyes did not drift away for the void it was seeing. Alhaitham decided to squeeze his roomate's hand to take his attention for a bit, but to no avail.
"Kaveh, I really care about you. Do not heed to whatever they said back in the desert. They don't know you. All they know is you're a smart way to gain money. They don't know who you are,"
A slight pause as Alhaitham tries to regulate his emotions.
"They don't know about the true Light of Kshahrewar and his creations. How brilliant he is. How he's the reason someone gets up everyday and lives life even though everything has changed."
"You're the reason someone smiles everyday. You and your little antics made someone laugh everyday. You and your laughter made someone fall in love with you."
"I wish I had better words and a better situation to tell this to you, Kaveh. But seeing as you are now..." he took note how the blonde still hasn't moved or speak the whole time, "I'm afraid I can't wait for that moment to happen any longer."
"It's better late than sorry, you know?"
Still no reply.
At that moment, all hope seems lost for Alhaitham. Is sunshine is long gone. The golden sparks in his eyes left, no more colors in his pale cheeks. The joyful person he once knew has left nothing but an empty husk that resembles the roommate he loves so dearly.
Alhaitham knew not to mess with facts. He believes in brain over heart. Science over feelings. His brain tells him that there is no more hope until Tighnari finishes analyzing the problem.
However, his heart tells him to continue and stay.
"I... really don't know how to tell you in any other way. Kaveh, if you can hear me, if you're still here," another squeeze of the hand, "I love you."
Alhaitham didn't know why he was hoping some sort of reaction of Kaveh. A glance, maybe. Or a soft spoken word. He had always imagined his confession to be heartwarming.
Not heartbreaking. He didn't confess to Kaveh, he just confessed to an empty puppet. Disappointed, he feels his heart shatter.
Alhaitham didn't know why. He'd never felt this emotional. There was always a logical explanation or fact to shove his feelings for another day. But for this one,
There simply was none. There was no denying that his heart does not beat for the same Kaveh anymore.
Deducing he has nothing left to do or say, he gave up on what his heart tells him and slowly let go of his hand.
"I'm sorry, Kaveh."
"I'm so sorry," Alhaitham knew there was so no use in saying sorry. "I'm sorry if i ever made you feel insecure,"
Why is he saying it?
"I'm sorry if I hadn't told you how beautiful you look everyday,"
Why can't he stop?
"I'm sorry if I ever scolded you too hard,"
It's useless, so utterly useless.
"I'm sorry I hadn't helped you in your time of need,"
Stop it!! It's pointless!!!
“I’m sorry I hadn’t told you that you have the best smile,”
STOP IT! STOP! WHY AREN’T YOU STOPPING?
"I'm sorry I didn't tell you I love you."
A tear fell and hit the bed.
Was that his? He isn't sure. His feelings are all over the place.
What WAS he supposed to feel? Sadness? Anger? Disappointment? Frustration? Guilt? Perhaps all of them.
Wiping his tear away, he decided it was time to leave. Forget about what his heart said. He’s a logical man and he should’ve left long ago. A sliver of hope? What a joke. He can clearly tell that Kaveh is probably long gone.
Then why is he still trying so hard to convince himself…?
Shaking his head, he decided to move away from the bed. As if it’ll help him get over these feelings. That’s what he thought.
That is, until he saw carmine eyes on him.
In an instant, all hope is refilled onto his heart. Walking slowly to the bed, he couldn’t believe his eyes.
“Kaveh?”
And as he walked closer, he noticed tears building up in beautiful eyes.
“Was…” his voice soft and weak, ”Was everything you said to me… true?”
“Yes.” Alhaitham still couldn’t believe what he was experiencing, ”Of course it’s true, my sunshine. I would never lie to you about these feelings of mine.”
A choked sob came out of the blonde, “They… they told me…” Tears welled up and started to spill.
Alhaitham quickly kneeled beside his bed and took his hands in his.
“They told me I was worthless…,” Kaveh starts to cry. It broke Alhaitham’s heart all over again. His sunshine isn’t supposed to cry, “They told me no one would come for me,”
“They told me that no one loved me. No one ever did. No one cared for me enough to come for me.”
“I’m sorry, Kaveh. I didn’t mean to take that long-“
“Nobody came. I waited, they waited, and when they knew, they’d tell me all those things again.”
“and again,”
“and again.”
Alhaitham carefully held Kaveh’s frail face and turned him towards him, as if he’s made of glass that would break under a single touch. “Kaveh,” he breathed, “I love you. Don’t let what anyone else says makes you forget that,”
“You’re not worthless. If that is the case, then why would they take you? My love, my sunshine, please,” Alhaitham brought his hand up and kissed each knuckle with all the love he can give.
“My beautiful padisarah. I love you. And I’ll never stop telling you that I do. If you want me to say it a hundred times, I’ll do it.”
“Haitham, please…” he sobbed, “you… really do?”
“I do.”
Kaveh couldn’t take it anymore as he lunged towards Alhaitham and hugged him. Hiding his face in the crook of Alhaitham’s neck, he sobbed and cried and wailed, clinging onto Alhaitham as if he’d lose him.
Alhaitham was taken aback, but nevertheless grateful that Kaveh has come back. The Kaveh that he knows and loves.
“My beautiful padisarah,” Alhaitham kissed his head, “I love you so.”

Pirate au?
Pirate au.
(Sadly no Inazuma crews in this one but. Maybe next time?)
“No way,” Kaeya said, staring at the paper.
Behind him, looking over the maps, Diluc smirked.
“You got us. A meeting. With the crew of the Surusthana!?!”
“We needed more alliances. The Traveler isn’t anywhere close to here for another three days, and one of their kids is friends with Amber.”
Kaeya stared back at him.
“Amber as in Knights Amber. As in the group Jean runs that you can hardly stand Amber.”
“It’s not that I can’t stand them, they just don’t have the ability to do things as well as I’d like. Which is why they’re run by Jean, and not by me.”
“Technically—“
“They’re only run by me on paper, Kaeya. You know this.”
Kaeya snorted, leaning again the doorframe.
“Maybe, but it’s fun to tease you about.”
Diluc side-eyed him, and Kaeya wisely scurried away.
___________
“I hate you for this. You know that, right?” Kaveh said, scrambling to keep up.
“I told you you could have waited on the ship.” Alhaitham scoffed.
“It’s not my fault you don’t know how to check boot sizes! I would’ve—“
“Just because you thought my work boots were ugly—“
“They are! You have no sense of taste!!”
Alhaitham gave Kaveh a blank glare, then turned away.
“Alhaitham! Don’t just ignore me, get back here!”
“We’re going to be late if you don’t hurry.”
Kaveh pouted, but ran after him anyways, bare feet slapping against the stone.
After a moment, Alhaitham sighed and picked him up. Kaveh, predictably, screeched.
“What are you—“
“The road isn’t paved after this.”
Kaveh’s silence lasted for only a moment.
“You could have warned me!!!”
“And where would be the fun in that?”
—————
“Scribe.”
“Dark Knight.”
Kaeya and Kaveh shared an eye roll.
“No Kusanali?” Diluc asked.
Alhaitham shook his head.
“This one needed some shoes. Accessories to stolen goods, and all that.”
Kaveh glared.
“I am not “stolen goods”--”
“You were kidnapped from a slave ship, it describes you perfectly.”
“I hate you.”
“You already said that.”
Kaveh huffed, and Kaeya smirked.
“Well, now that that’s out of the way–”
____________
“Everything went well?” Venti asked, hanging on the the rope ladder that led to the crow’s nest.
“Swimmingly.” Kaeya said, chuckling as he went to update Jean.
“Kusanali is well?” Diluc asked. Venti chuckled nervously.
“I don’t know what you’re talking about.” Diluc huffed a breath, as close as he’d get to a laugh, and moved on.
“Venti!” He called after a moment, “Next time, move the wind while you’re in the nest.”

Cara Hawn’s life fell apart after her father cheated on her mother and got remarried to a woman Cara can’t stand. All of this is outside of Cara’s comfort zone, from the meddling producers to the camera-hungry contestants, especially as Cara and her mother begin to clash on which suitors are worth keeping around. And then comes Connor.
As the son of a contestant, Connor is decidedly off-limits. Except that he doesn’t fit in with the cutthroat atmosphere in all the same ways as Cara, and she can’t get him out of her head. ➫ A SCHOLAR'S LOVE (1)
Tumblr media
cyno was one of those students that you never fully understood. be it a meeting, get together, or just a study session at the library; he never failed to meet your gaze, yet stayed completely silent. every other person he interacted with made him seem extremely sociable, yet for some reason he couldn't muster a word around you.
you don't remember it always being like this, though. when you first met, he had introduced you to his friend group in the akademiya consisting of a few other boys and got to know you. as time went on, though, he grew a bit distant, keeping you just out of reach.
this confused you greatly. did you do something wrong? maybe he got to know you too well, and was put off by something in your past. you really couldn't put a finger on it!
recently, it seemed he always had something to say to you, but just wouldn't spit it out.
"cyno, what's gotten into you, huh? you said you'd focus on these paragraphs but all i see are desert pyramids." your friend tighnari questioned, pointing to his doodles. you listened in from another table behind them, cyno's chin falling into his hand.
"i don't know, 'nari. lately i've been (...)" his voice gets quiet, and you're unable to hear him. slouching in your chair in defeat, kaveh shouts as his popsicle-stick-hut prototype crumbles on the desk for the 4th time that night.
ignoring his failed project, you ask, "kaveh... have you ever, um...noticed cyno staring at me? i can't figure out why, but i feel like for the past few weeks he's been really itching to tell me something." you whisper to your blond friend, holding your textbook to cover your face.
"y/n, you idiot. didn't i just mention that to you a few days ago?!" he whisper shouted back at you, a shocked expression adorning his face. your memory has greatly failed you, he thinks.
feeling oddly nervous around the white haired student, he'd say, "you know, y/n, that cyno over there's been eyeing you this whole night. i can't help but feel he's just dying to tell you off! what have you done this time?" and more accusations like that.
you sighed, recalling this interaction. he didn't need to say it aloud, kaveh's eyes definitely gave you an 'i told you so.'
despite your friend's cautious approach to cyno's behaviour, something was telling you he had no ill intention when he stared at you. of course, he looked nervous- but his gaze always softened when you looked his way. his red irises lit up right before he'd turn away bashfully, muttering to tighnari as he scribbled on his papers. part of you wondered... what did he really think of you... ?
Tumblr media
sitting at your shared study desk, tighnari and cyno talked to each other about their upcoming project while kaveh whined to you about his recent architectural models falling apart. as much as you wanted to pay attention to him- your heart fluttered as you watched cyno talk, his lips moving in such a way that caught your attention instantly. you couldn't tell a word he spoke, but it didn't matter- the sound of his soft voice was enough to relax you.
those three plus al haitham were always with you during school hours. albeit, al haitham liked to sneak away once he got excruciatingly bored of fighting with kaveh, which happened way too often. you'd stifle a laugh at their antics, knowing they didn't truly hate each other.
but the way you'd smile with them...research with them...cyno couldn't help but feel jealous. he was at a loss, really. how could he possibly get your attention if he was too dumbified to speak around you? sure, everyone in your friend group was awkward and shy at times- but he felt so...invisible to you.
tighnari could tell you weren't too good at hiding your interest either. even though he was the sassiest and most blunt in your friend group, he surely wasn't ignorant to his surroundings. if you really weren't aware of cyno's intentions, you wouldn't be meeting his gaze across the table with your cheeks as red as a henna berry.
tighnari knew cyno had one more chance to prove he wasn't a "big whining baby" as he called it; poking fun at his inability to express his true feelings. your birthday was approaching, and you had invited the four of them to a party to celebrate. perfect.
he had a brilliant idea after reading his invitation, consulting cyno on their way out of the library one day. "cyno, don't be alarmed at what i'm about to say, but i'll be your wingman at y/n's party. you just have to promise me to not be so stiff. no one likes someone who doesn't speak their truth, and your staring is going to burn a hole in her face eventually." he scoffed, "she'll definitely reject you then." he rolled his eyes, imagining cyno's pupils shooting lasers at you.
cyno's eyes widened at his words, not aware that his friend knew of this problem. there was no use hiding it now, he supposed, tighnari did hear everything after all. and apparently that included his thoughts.
"i don't know, tighnari. that seems incredibly risky. what if y/n can't be bothered to deal with such a matter on her birthday? i'd surely ruin the day for her if she doesn't feel the same." he sighed. although he had a point, tighnari hummed, thinking of a way to convince him to confess to you.
"you know, cyno, if i had never come up to you and asked to partner up for that project so long ago, you would have never known i was interested in being friends with you. we would still be sitting at different study desks in our spare time." he recalled, slightly waving his tail at the memory.
cyno hummed in agreement; this was true. tighnari had always made the first move in their friendship. though tighnari didn't seem to mind as he was so extraverted, cyno knew you were more similar to himself. if one of you was unsure about the other's intentions, which he was guessing you might be, you'd be stuck boring holes in each others eyes for eons.
"and please, do think of the tension this brings to the friend group. i'm all for slow burn, but this is like those giant ovens in the city's tavern. those things take ages to cook even one of those filled pitas. you're straining your heart, as well as my patience."
"sorry, tighnari. i guess... you might be right. you have brought some new perspective to this situation i suppose." cyno stared ahead of him as they walked out of the library's large doors, other students gathered around the space. "as hopeless as i was a few moments ago, i do believe this will help. how do you plan on making this happen?"
