Really sweet Crow friendship thing we never seem to talk about: Kaz bought the Wraith for Inej, yes, but he bought it from Wylan. Wylan knew!

Imagine it!! Not only Kaz effectively confiding in Wylan by doing this, but also imagine Wylan spending the next week with Inej staying in his house knowing what was going to happen!! Like he probably didn’t know Kaz had found her parents but he knew she was getting the boat (and that would be her key to finding her parents herself if Kaz hadn’t done). Inej vanished from his house one morning to go to the docks at the crack of dawn and I like to imagine that he watched her from the window so happy and so joyous because he loves Inej and he loves Kaz and they’re going to be so happy

This is beautiful!!! And it’s CANON! Why don’t we talk about this more????

Kanej hobbies headcanon:

When she’s away at sea, Inej takes up knitting to pass the time. She gets really good at it.

As she’s on her way to visit Kaz and Wesper in Ketterdam she decides to knit Kaz some gloves

She makes sure to make the stitches bigger at the fingertips so he can still lockpick.

When she gives them to him he almost passes away right there on the spot.

He tells her, “This is the best gift I’ve ever been given” and she feels almost giddy

Kaz never takes them off.

After she leaves again, he decides to learn how to draw so he can capture her image while she’s away.

He’s actually really good at it, but there’s always something ever so slightly off that frustrates him. Eventually he gives up.

The next time Inej is in Ketterdam he asks her to teach him how to knit.

It’s frustrating but Inej helps him stay calm and eventually, he gets quite good.

Inej is the only one who knows he knits and he knows she’ll keep it a secret.

He likes knitting bc “you can hurt someone with a knitting needle.”

He always keeps a knitting needle up his sleeve with his other weapons

He makes gifts for all of the dregs, but no one knows it’s him.

When Inej is asked if it’s her, she just laughs and walks away

When Nina is asked about it she says it’s not her but she doesn’t know who it is

As the years go by and Kaz becomes more comfortable with touch, the gloves from Inej slowly become fingerless gloves, and then none at all.

He also gets really into sewing and is a MENACE with a sewing machine.

Inej gets really good at embroidery.

They make a lot of clothes for the other crows. Especially Wylan and Jesper.

When Kaz and Inej get engaged he decides he wants to make her wedding dress.

He doesn’t tell her that he’s making it because he wants to surprise her.

However, it’s not turning out how he wants, it’s not perfect.

Inej notices how agitated he is and knows something is up

The moment she confronted him he breaks and confesses bc he can’t lie to Inej.

Inej is both annoyed and also speechless.

She’s annoyed bc she literally has been searching for the perfect dress for months with Nina.

But that annoyance disappears quickly bc the dress Kaz made is literally perfect, it’s everything she was looking for.

Also at the same time he confesses about the drawings to.

She thinks they’re perfect and hangs all of them up.

Things about the 2x03 Kanej graveyard scene that make me feral

Inej being able to tell Kaz is in the doorway without looking

Inej’s valid anger at Kaz not being honest and calling him out (get his ass Honey!)

The dead look on Inej’s face when she takes her shirt off, because she has to undress (even partly) in front of someone and it brings back horrible memories

KAZ TURNING AND LOOKING AWAY TO GIVE HER PRIVACY

Kaz cracking and telling her about Jordie because he can’t bare to lose the trust and relationship the two have built

Inej’s IMMEDIATE response of “then we destroy him”

Kaz’s shaking hand as he takes the cloth from Inej

Inej making sure their hands don’t touch as she passes it to him

Kaz putting down his cane, his physical and mental crutch, the WEAPON he relies on, leaving him open and vulnerable in her presence

Also the way he tosses up and catches it and puts it on the table ajdbsjfbdk

The fact Kaz is SO DETERMINED to help that he can’t look at Inej’s face

Inej turning her back on Kaz, leaving HERSELF open and vulnerable because SHE TRUSTS HIM

Inej’s little gasp when he touches her with the cloth (could be from the sting of the antiseptic OR shock from him actually following through)

FOR A HALF SECOND YOU CAN CATCH INEJ LOOKING PLEASED/HAVING JOY THAT HE’S ABLE TO TOUCH HER (Amita’s attention to detail with Inej is phenomenal)

Kaz shaking (I chose to believe in anger at his past and Inej’s) when he says “was there no one to protect you?”

The “was there no one to protect you” lines RIGHT BEFORE KAZ TELLS HER TO LOOK FOR MOGEN’S TELLS, AS A WAY OF KAZ HELPING HER TO PROTECT HERSELF IN THE FIGHT

Inej turning to fully face him for the next part of their conversation thus creating an intimate little bubble around them

Inej’s step forward and quiet “what’s yours?”

The eye contact and height difference ahdbdjfbs

His honesty “the limp, the cane. No one’s smart enough to look for the real one” WHICH IS INEJ !!

The strands of hair falling in Kaz’s face, his perfectly tailored shield of his hard lines and tailored edges cracking because he’s opening up and being vulnerable with Inej

Inej VERY OBVIOUSLY looking at Kaz’s lips

Inej shifting forward a bit more towards him right before they’re interrupted

Honourable mention: Nina’s little “uh huh” in a tone that says “yeah I don’t believe you” when Inej tells her it’s not what Nina thinks it is

Conclusion: Freddy and Amita are phenomenal in these roles and they drive me actually insane (and I thank them for it)

Okay maybe I’m just late to the party realising this but you guys when Kaz talks about Geels and his girlfriend in chapter 2 of Six of Crows is it meant to be implicit reference to him and Inej as a set up for the rest of the duology???

This is the quote that made me think this just now:

“You love her, don’t you? Of course you do, no-one that fine should have ever looked twice at Barrel scum like you but she’s different. She finds you charming. Sure sign of madness if you ask me, but love is strange that way”

And then that’s followed by Geels giving up on all the planning and scheming he’s done to be able to kill Kaz so that Kaz won’t hurt Elise!?

The entire scene is about Kaz trusting Inej blindly to get to the other guard on time and save his life??

They talk about *geraniums* in the window box of 19 Burdtradt!!?????

The more I think about this the more I love it but idk maybe I’m reading into it too much? Lemme know what you guys think
