Late - Kai Havertz
Who: Kai Havertz Prompt: Oversleeping Requested by: anonymous Warnings: none
Tumblr media
You were abruptly awoken that morning by Kai jumping out of bed as if he had been jabbed with a live wire. He instantly scrambled around the bedroom, cursing in German under his breath as he hastily put on the nearest piece of clothing.
"You okay, sweetie?" You sat half upright in bed, rubbing the sleep from your eyes. "I overslept," Kai grumbled, "I’m supposed to be at training at 9am." You glanced at your watch: 8.35am. No matter how fast Kai readied himself for departure, you knew there was no way in hell he was still going to make 9am.
"Can I do something to speed you up?" You asked, getting out of bed as well. "Would you mind making me some breakfast? Something I can eat in the car maybe?" Kai looked a little helplessly at you. He, too, realized he would most definitely be late to training. "Absolutely." You quickly put on a bathrobe and left for the kitchen.
Kai hated to have to be in a hurry, especially in the morning, so you made sure to put some extra love and care into making him breakfast. You quickly fried some eggs, because you knew sandwiches with fried eggs and cheese were his favorite. You packed it all neatly, but not too tightly, so he could eat it in the car while he drove to training.
"There’s four sandwiches in there," you announced as Kai came down the stairs. He tried to put on socks and shoes while he walked, which nearly resulted in him tumbling down the last few steps. "Babe, please, be careful." You shook your head at him. "Late or not, I would like you back in one piece." "I know." He grinned, giving you a quick goodbye kiss. "Thanks for the sandwiches."
Kai nearly catapulted himself out the front door and into the car. Before driving off, he grabbed the top sandwich out of the package you had prepared for him. Just before biting into it, Kai noticed the little note on top of it.
Love you, babe. Hope these will make up for a rushed start of the day.
It was only a simple note, but it filled Kai with an immense love for you. Because no matter how shitty his day started, you always knew how to make it better. And suddenly, being late to training didn’t seem at all bad anymore.

fiery red - Kai Havertz
Tumblr media
Y/N x Kai Havertz Theme: Smutish (teasing, touching, slightly explicit) enjoying alone time in the arsenal locker room on Kai's first day x word count: 1140
It's summer, and for every football fan, that means one of the most exhausting, thrilling, exciting, and heart-breaking seasons begins, Transfer-season. Many players are switching to another club, another country, basically another chapter in life. The same happens to your longtime boyfriend, Kai. When he told you a few weeks ago, that Arsenal was interested in him, you couldn't hide your excitement. Even though he played for a London-based club before, every club and every team is different, with different styles, traditions, and fans. Kai asked you, and invited you, to join him for the announcement photoshoot in the Emirates Stadium.
You're standing at the sidelines while he's the center of attention. Not his most favorite position, being a little shyer around new people, but he actively looks for your support, just by looking at you, his beautiful eyes shining so brightly. You smile comfortingly, and you can tell it helps him a lot. Kai is wearing his new jersey proudly, and it flatters his upper body extremely well. He strikes a few poses before it's time for a little interview, for their fans to get to know him. You're supporting him from behind the scenes, being proud and happy. Then, it's time for a little tour through the tunnels, the stadium, and right into the Arsenal locker room.
You're entering the iconic room first, with Kai following you closely. Even though you've been to multiple locker rooms before, this one feels a little different. Maybe it's the history behind it all, or just the wooden smell hovering in the air. No matter what, Kai approaches you from behind, gently grabbing your waist while pulling you into him, to whisper into your ear. "How did I do?" He says quietly, and you feel his warm breath burning on your skin, giving you goosebumps right away. Embracing his body against yours, you lean back. "You did so well, babé." You smile comfortingly, turn your head and kiss him softly.
"So, that's the locker room." The guide says behind the two of you, causing both of you to turn around to meet this older man, who's smiling warmly. "Yeah," Kai says nervously, and they exchange a quick look. "Just like we agreed to, you've got 15 minutes." He nods, and you just raise an eyebrow. Confused, you look at Kai who's blushing heavily. "Thank you." He says as the guy leaves the room, closing the door. "What was that about?" You say, one of your hands running up and down his arm before he intertwines his fingers with yours. "Oh, uh, I asked if we could get a little moment for ourselves."
He shrugs, his face still flushing with color, as he runs a hand through his nicely done hair. "Is that so?" You tilt your head, knowing very much what he's up to now. Kai nods proudly, and he turns his body to meet yours. Instantly, he leans into you, kissing you lovingly. Once your lips meet, you get drawn into him, melting into a more passionate kiss. You kiss him once, then twice, while he starts to purr contently. "Mhmm." Kai breathes into your mouth, before he pulls back, his eyes locked with yours now. "I'm so nervous." He exhales, and his body grows a little stiffer than usual. "That's okay." You say quietly, placing a hand on his chest, the other at his neck, gently tracing his jawline with your thumb.
He embraces your hands on his body, and at the same time, his hands stay on your waist, with his thumbs moving up and down your body. "I just wanna do everything right," Kai says, and his expression softens slowly. "You're doing so good, and.." You say, thinking about how to say what you're about to say. "They want you for their team. They need your talent, your style, and your soft personality." Your eyes meet again, and you can tell he's feeling a little better already. His eyes are shining even brighter, his body relaxes and a coy smile forms on his lips. "You think so?" He smiles warmly, while you nod approvingly.
"Of course!" You say, stroking his chest now with your hand while caressing his cheek with the other. "And to be honest, you look damn fine in red and white." Licking your lips, you smirk, before your eyes wander down to his jersey, and his chest fills it fully. A mischievous grin spreads all over his face once his eyes follow your gaze, and you feel his muscles tensing slightly underneath your hand. "Oh, I do know that," Kai smirks now as well, causing you to blush slightly. "But thank you." He purrs, enjoying your gentle touch all over his chest and neck.
You keep on stroking him, while smiling happily, before you lean in again, to kiss him. Right away, you can tell he's getting more and more into it, with him now using his tongue. Enjoying himself even more, he pulls you into him, so your bodies are just mere inches away from one another. Still, you steady yourself against his firm chest, exploring his body with your fingertips. You can tell his nipples are pressing through the jersey hard, his muscles are as sensitive to your touch, and right then, you take in his familiar scent breaking through the smell of the locker room all around you.
Taking a deep breath, you embrace all of him, as his hands wander around your waist to stroke the small of your back tenderly. "Kaiii." You giggle into his mouth, causing him to hum happily again. A tingling feeling spreads through your body, while he kisses you again and again, when his hips start to grind on yours. Just by that you know his desire is slowly but steadily building up inside him, and it shows inside his tight track pants. "I need you." He moans softly into your mouth, as he opens his mouth to pull away. Gasping, you feel the same.
However, this is not the time nor the place to strip down, so you steady yourself against his firm chest, to look into his eyes. "I think we gotta wait a little longer." You smile, looking around you, making him aware of your current situation. Kai sighs deeply, closes his eyes, and regains his composure. "I know." He says, opening his eyes to meet your gaze once more. "It still sucks." The two of you giggle quietly, with your hands wandering all over his chest, drawing circles on his jersey. He lowers his head, following your every move closely, while you keep going.
You spent some more time cuddling, touching each other, while exchanging longing looks. Time flies, and the door opens again, with your guide smiling warmly again. "We good to go?" He says, and the two of you nod.

Hi, could you maybe write about Kai‘s transfer to Arsenal?
Like y/n supporting him and being so proud of him. Like fluff. If you could do that it would be awsome. Thank you love ❤️
Transfers (Kai Havertz)
Tumblr media
"Are you sure I made the right choice?"
"Kai. Hey- look at me." You wait until the churning season of his eyes meet your calm strength. Then you cup his jaw, the light prickles of stubble scratching your palms. You allow Kai to draw from the depths of your love for him until he sighs.
At times like this, you are Kai's saving grace. He doubts himself more often than he should; he knows coming to Arsenal was a positive move for his own development, but he needs your reassurances regardless. So you give that to him now, not with words as much as your gentle touch.
Kai slowly leans forward until his head meets your shoulder. You slide your arms under his and draw him into a hug, pouring every ounce of what you're feeling into it.
Eventually, when Kai's shoulders have relaxed and his breathing is evened out, you find your voice, "I'm so, so proud of you Kai. You're doing what's best for you- you're gaining European football and another family for us to grow close with. Plus you'll not have that pressure to score goal after goal- we know you aren't a proper striker. The move to Arsenal should take some of that spotlight off you in that sense."
"Yeah… yeah that's true- it should give me more room to be the player I'm meant to be, won't it?"
"Exactly." You kiss Kai's curls, unruly with the humidity that's been fogging London lately. "Who cares what anyone says, you've proven people wrong before. What's one more time? All I ask is that you give a hundred percent, then I'll always be proud of you."
Kai's smile is felt against your neck. "Thank you, schatz. Ich liebe dich."
"I love you too, Kai. Kick some ass in your debut, will you?"
"You already know I will."

Mine to hold (KH 29)
Kai Havertz x f!reader
Warnings: angst, swearing, and fluff as always, very mid german translation (haven’t perfected the language, still trying)
Summary: Kai will abandon everything, get mad at everyone, try to protect you, if only someone dared to hurt you the slightest
“Oh what an unfortunate miss for the Germans, as the match ends 3-2 against Spain. This definitely won’t put a smile on their captain’s face.”
“But we have to admit, Germany have given it all this year and they have a shot at finishing third in the Euro’s. I believe they can do it.”
Seeing the boys, going back to the changing rooms, with their heads facing the ground, made my heart ache. All the female squad had come to cheer for the boys.
They all played wonderfully, that’s no secret. If it wasn’t for Kepa to save a great shot of Timo’s, we would have gone to penalties and then the chances would’ve been higher for a win in favour of us.
When I saw Kai kneeling on the pitch, with his hands on his face, I wanted to jump the fence and run to hug him and comfort him. It was his first time being the captain of the team and all he wanted was to succeed.
And he did so. Germany managed to get a shot at a podium position, which hasn’t happened in a very long time. Germany’s bad luck always starts at the round of 16, at every single league.
As the stadium slowly becomes quieter, I try and find Kai, who is sitting alone, with puffy red shot eyes and his heart on his mouth. I despised seeing him like this. It was really unfair.
“Das war deine erste Zeit, dass du Mannschaftskapitän geworden bist. Du hast ein Ziel erreicht, das Ihre Erwartungen übertroffen hat. Ich bin mehr als stolz auf dich.”
(This was your first time that you became the captain of the team. You achieved a goal that was behind expectations. I am more than proud of you.)
Poor Kai raised his head to look at me and gave me a very faint but sad smile. He wanted to stay strong, although it was completely understandable to let out all his feelings. He gave it everything and this was a small achievement. Reaching final four.
“We were doing so well and then one bad day can take you out of being even the runner up. Fucking shit!” He threw on the ground his armband with the “Captain” sign on it.
I picked it up and handed it back to him. Throwing it off meant giving up. And he definitely shouldn’t!
“Go ask Christian! He has been the captain of the USA for a long time. Has he ever given up? No. Has he had successes? Yes. Well, you can too. Nothing stops you. We learn from our mistakes meine liebe” I say caressing his cheek softly, wanting to calm him down and ease the pain.
“The only thing that comforts me is that at least the women’s team made it to the finals. If I can’t be proud of myself, I glad I am of you. And I always will” Kai leaned in and kissed me sweetly, as an indication of how happy he is that my team has made such progression.
Being wrapped in his arms is always the best gift he can give me. I love this man unconditionally and I can never imagine myself with someone else, besides him.
“The way you are proud of me, I am of you too! I believe in you more than anyone else. I have faith. And I know and promise you that soon, the team will reach the top, with you leading them”
“I’m so glad I have you in my life, Y/N. I would have been in the shambles right now if it wasn’t for you. Ich liebe dich“
That night, i forbade myself to leave Kai’s embrace. I wanted to stay in his arms forever. I felt safe and the happiest.
That night, we kissed and made love to each other like never before. I wanted Kai to feel free and ease. He had been under so much pressure that I felt he would blow up.
„Guten Morgen mein Ein und Alles. Wie geht es dir?“ (Good morning my everything. How are you”) Kai woke up groggily but wanted me to wake up covered in his kisses and hugs. Oh how I love this man!
„Guten Morgen Liebling. Ich bin gut aber für nicht zu lange“ (Good morning darling! I am good although not for long). I replied with a laugh escaping my lips as I saw myself and most importantly my neck in the bathroom.
“What? Why? Are you hurt?” He rushes over me only to be met with a massive hickey against my neck.
“I think it’s pretty obvious that the mosquito last night, was very hungry. But I’m glad. As long as he’s happy, I am. And I want him to know I’m proud”
“You’re the best thing that’s ever happened to me Y/N. You’re my best gift and everything I could have asked for” my boyfriend grabbed me by the waist and held me into a tight hug. Today it was the day of the final. We’d either win it or lose it all.
As we entered the stadium, anxiousness rushed over mg body. I had a constant feeling of wanting to throw up. This felt too much. I know understand what Kai was feeling all this team. Oh boy. It’s even worse than a rollercoaster.
Our main captain had been injured in the previous game so she out. Head coach was looking around for someone to wear the very valuable arm band. It meant everything to the person wearing it!
When I heard my name being picked up, I gulped hardly, shoving my worries and fears down my throat, I could feel better. Which I didn’t if we are being honest.
As the armband was around my bicep, I looked up to be met with an equally stressed but also proud boyfriend of mine.
“You can do this” he mouthed at me, as my parents were next to him, waving at me and giving me thumbs up for positivity to radiate.
I gathered all the girls around me. We are a strong team, we can win. We will make our country proud. We’ve gone so far and can’t give up now, i said wanting to show them how powerful players they all are.
As we broke apart, my gaze instantly fell to one of the girls playing for the French team. My heart skipped a beat as I saw that it was none other than Kai’s ex. I had forgotten she was a player of PSG and a member of the French Women’s Team.
Kai hadn’t noticed her and neither had she. But once her eyes fell on me, her smile dropped and instantly all her attention was drawn to my boyfriend.
“Verdammter Scheiß!” (Bloody hell!), I whispered underneath my breath as a massive grin was quickly shaped on her face. My blood got cold all of a sudden.
In a few seconds the whistle had blown and the final had started. I don’t easily get distracted but ever since I noticed her, I feel like she’s targeting me with her eyes, wanting to shoot me dead.
Before the first half ended, the score was 2-2 and things seemed to be going alright. I’d be tragic to have to use the penalties as a decisive way of ending this match, so we had to play much better.
As I was trying to catch my breath, I felt her eyes piercing me, swearing at me in any possible way, not only because I was an obstacle to her win but also a supposed “boyfriend thief”
At some point I saw my phone clinging and took a quick glance at it, it was Kai
“You are my champion. Please don’t look at her. We all know your worth. Go win this!”
A smile was plastered on my face as I looked up and saw Kai playfully winking at me. My heart instantly fluttered but before I could react, the referee blew the whistle for the second half to start.
We were running out of time and anxiousness was running through my veins. We needed one fucking goal and I had to make sure we got that.
When the ball was passed between my feet, I am as fast as I possible could, since the defenders of France didn’t notice I was close to their box.
When my right foot kicked the ball, I felt the spikes of a person’s shoes on the inside of my thigh. I instantly fell down and was only looking up. My biggest worry was if the ball had escaped the goalkeepers arms. I couldn’t hear anything. There was silence.
My eyes were closed and the only thing audible was the silence that had corrupted on the pitch.
“Süße, are you alright? Oh shit. Can she hear me? What the fuck did you do?” Kai’s words were fading in my ears but the yelling was apparent.
“Kai” I faintly said, opening up my arms.
“Baby how are you feeling? Please don’t rush. Slow down. How are you feeling?” He placed me in his arms and carried me all the way to the bench, with the entire world watching.
“Did I score? Did we win?” At that moment I acted so selfless and wanted nothing but this win for my country.
“Yes meine liebe, you scored. I am so proud of you. It was an amazing goal but with an unfortunate incident. I got so scared when I saw you falling down and hitting your head that I ran on the pitch like a maniac” a few tears escaped his eyes but he wiped them quickly enough for me to not notice.
“I love you so much Kai. I dedicate this win to you. I wouldn’t be here if it wasn’t for you. You motivate me every day and this wouldn’t have been possible if I didn’t have you by my side”
“You, you are the reason I still keep my head up even when we are losing. You are the reason I score every goal. You are the reason I still play. I love you too, Y/N!”

"Whatever makes him happy on a Saturday Night"
Tumblr media
Summary: It’s Saturday night, and Martin’s going out on the town with the boys.
Warnings: Alcohol, swearing, assault
Notes:
An AU fic where all the players live normal lives. Inspired by ‘Saturday Night’ by Suede, and various nights out I’ve had recently.
Some other songs to go with this fic:
Arcade Fire - No Cars Go
Basement - Ellipses
Charli XCX - Detonate
The Goon Sax - Strange Light
Crosspost from AO3
There’s a crackle from the intercom speaker, and the light next to the camera comes on. “Yes Barbie! I’m buzzing you in now.” Martin tries to smile off the embarrassment. Declan always greets him with his nickname. The door releases with a zap, and the Norwegian heads into the building.
Up in the flat, Declan has the tunes on. “What’s good Deccers?” smiles the Norwegian. Martin gives him a firm hug with his free hand, a four pack of beers in his other. It’s the usual list of compliments between them as they walk through to the lounge - “Nice outfit, lad”, “Love that aftershave, lad”, “Your hair’s looking great, lad”.
“Kai’s just in his room” says Declan. A muffled “Hallo” comes from one of the closed doors. Martin calls back and perches himself on the edge of the sofa. He’s been here plenty of times before, but he waits to let himself get comfortable. Once Declan is back from the fridge with a can for himself, Martin decides he can open one of his.
The German has finally sorted his outfit, and pres feel like they’re properly underway. It’s a mix of dancey and guitary cuts coming from the speakers next to the telly. The lounge is warmly lit, scented by a candle on a nearby shelf. Almost certainly one of Kai’s touches; Dec has never quite understood the concept. The lights of the city can be seen through the window.
“Are we just gonna meet you there then?” Declan’s got Mason on speakerphone on the table in front of them.
“Yeah man, it’ll probably be easier, I’m not fucking with an Uber over to yours”. Mase is cool as ever. He’ll go with the flow on anything.
“Sweet, alright fella, we’ll find you at the pub”.
Declan likes being the one organising things. It helps him feel more settled to be the one who knows where everyone is gonna be when. On paper, Martin and Kai are the two shyer ones of the group, even if they tend to find their confidence as the night goes on.
“So he’s with the girls then?” Kai thumbs around his bottle.
“Of course he is” joshes Declan. “Alessia still isn’t gonna get with him tonight”.
Martin chuckles. They’ve all been hanging out for a couple of years now, brought together through friends of friends and exes of exes. It’s not that any of them couldn’t date each other, but it does make it less complicated if the flirting doesn’t lead to anything more.
The plan for tonight: pub, maybe another pub, probably a club, chips and home. Martin always loves the buzz of Saturday night. In his head, he remarks on the confidence he has now, compared to his lack of it when he was a teen. These boys make him feel at home. They catch up on their weeks and whatever other bollocks has happened at their respective jobs, making their way through their beers.
Kai asks if the jumper he’s thinking of wearing works.
“ ‘Course it does man, you look great.” Declan is always everyone’s hype man, first and foremost.
“Yeah, ah…well,...yeah” Kai shrugs and fumbles through a load of words. He doesn’t really know why he brought that up. He just needed to address it somehow.
“Trust us, man. Anyway, it’s your go” Martin points to Kai’s Uno hand. The cards are sticky and worn from years of use. Declan had them at uni. At least that was the first time Martin saw them.
Kai places down a red plus two. He doesn’t have a poker face so much as a smug game-playing face, lips pursed.
“Fuck you” mutters Martin, shuffling through his options. A green plus two has been in his hand for a while. Looks like Declan is getting the short end of it.
“You bastard” concedes Declan as he shoots a sharp look over to the Norwegian. That smile he has, charming and scheming, always electrifies Martin. It’s gonna be a good night when Declan’s feeling like this. The Brit reaches to pick up from the pile and have another swig of his beer.
They’re out in the night air soon enough, walking to the bus stop. Mizzly February rain is quickly dampening Martin’s hair, and he battles the biting wind with gritted teeth. The beers are hitting though, and that’s got Kai in a chatty mood. It’s easy to tell, as his volume rises in line with how much he’s drunk.
They’ve timed it well, and they’re on the night bus in a matter of minutes. Martin checks his phone – the group chat has been pinging off as everyone’s announced that they’re on the way. He’ll save checking it for the morning. A swig of his road beer, trying to keep it concealed from the driver. What do they mind anyway? There’s plenty of other people drinking.
Their conversations continue as they step off. “I just always found it a really boring record. Never got into it”. The line-up for a festival they’ve been thinking of going to has just dropped, and the headline is a band that Martin’s not that fond of.
“I’d like to go, I just dunno if I can take the camping ‘n shit”. Kai’s never been one for being too far from creature comforts, despite being very outdoorsy.
“It does get a bit rough to be fair” adds Declan. “I remember, like, in my first year I went, someone near us was sick in their tent on the Saturday, and they just abandoned and didn’t clear it up”. Kai and Martin groan at the thought. “And it was so hot so it stunk”.
“See, exactly” says Kai. He tries to adjust his sodden hair, to little effect. His face has his trademark grimace, as ever when it's cold and raining.
The city centre is throbbing with people and noise. Declan’s got his hood up as he leads the way. God Kai is so tall, thinks Martin, taking in how his thick fleece jacket conceals how skinny actually he is. Through the pedestrianised streets they journey, laughing at various things they see and avoiding the dickheads swaggering about the place.
They’re soon at The Corporation Vaults, one of the city’s older establishments, on what must be the 20th refurbishment in its lifetime. Inside, it's darkly lit and busy, a pulsing mix of alternative and indie coming over the speakers. Mason and the girls have managed to find a table near the back. Everyone gets up for hugs and greetings – Mase first, followed by Lauren, Leah and Alessia.
“I’m coming up to get a drink with you” points Alessia, always game for a night of pints. “Look at you king!” she exclaims, pointing out Martin’s fresh trouser and trainer combo.
“Ah, they’re just something I saw on Vinted and I liked” Martin blushes. He’s had to force himself to accept compliments without getting embarrassed. Alessia is always buzzed to see the Norwegian.
“I’ll get these” he insists as the bartender brings the card reader over. He owes her for last time anyway, and he fancies making Declan and Kai buy his next few drinks. It’s Jupels for him and Alessia, some random Weissbier for Kai, and a Guinness for Declan.
Declan takes two or three glugs of the black liquid and places the glass on the bar. “Ah, fuck!” He’s missed winning the Guinness game by barely a few millimetres. The line is just above the bottom of the harp. Mason harangs him for his failings.
Back at the table, everyone’s catching up. Mase and Lauren are in some extended conversation – maybe he’s bagged off the idea of getting with Alessia for once? The night is still young though.
More pints first. And as they pass, discussions about going somewhere else come up. “Mmm, nah, I dunno” says Leah. “The queue for Glassworks was big when we walked past, I can’t be arsed”. Her argument convinces the table. Leah, Lauren and Declan head up for another round.
Martin’s been left on his own, but that’s okay. He looks over to Kai, sitting in the corner talking to Mason whilst he fiddles with the sleeves of his jumper. He hopes he’s feeling comfortable, sometimes his mood can dip quickly in noisy places like this. The Norwegian slides down to join the conversation.
Mason clocks his arrival immediately. “Right, I need your view, Barbs…would you do the cinema for a first date?”
“What?” replies Martin in bemusement.
Kai leans over to explain the situation. “He’s got into a whole thing ‘cause this girl on his Tinder ghosted him after he suggested it for a date”.
“Nah, I suggested it ‘cause she had films as one of her interests” retorts Mason.
“Yes but like…why would you take her there on a first date? Like…you want to get to know her right?” Mason’s stubbornness has got under Kai’s skin.
“But then why would you ghost someone for that?” says Mase.
“I, yeah…I dunno”. Martin isn’t gonna be able to add anything to this. He grins politely.
“That’s not the point though is it! How are you going to speak to her in the cinema?” By this point, Kai’s stopped fiddling with his jumper and is waving his hands around in annoyance.
“I dunno, I just thought it was a good idea!” fires back Mase, in defeat. The back and forth goes on for some time.
Declan looks up from his phone, having just been intently typing out something. “Gang, Jarrod and B are gonna find us in Kongs” he announces. The table cheers. Another policy win for President Dec. Martin catches his gaze from down the table, that same charming smile meeting his own childlike one. Jarrod and Bukayo will be great company. Calls for everyone to neck their pints are met with agreement, and the table heads off to Kongs.
It’s a bawdy affair on the streets, the rain still coming down but hardly putting anyone off. They’re definitely in the realm of tipsy now, and everything they pass becomes increasingly funny. A box of chips abandoned on a bin with a full cup of Maccies coke. Some girls struggling down a cobbled street in heels and less-than-adequate coats. A bar flashing with crappy disco lights blaring out the YMCA. “I’d rather die” jokes Kai, somewhere behind.
Martin’s hooked arms with Alessia. It doesn’t mean anything, it’s just good friendship. They chat about their dating lives, some shit from her ex that’s been on her mind lately, and more of Martin’s Vinted purchases.
Lauren has got chatting to some passer-by. The group turn around to pick up the straggler. “Lauren, fucking hell, we are going!” pleads Leah, dragging her away.
“He was cute though!” she wails.
“He’s just another white guy, oh my days!” Leah is having none of it.
“We could have got them to come with us!”
“Shut up” Leah pushes her the other way down the street.
Not before there are more stragglers, however. Declan and Mason are giggling like school kids, getting left behind after Mase says something that makes Dec almost paralytic with laughter.
“Come on you pricks!” shouts Kai. He’s found his confidence. “I wanna get out of the rain”. The man looks disgruntled.
They’re in the queue for Kongs at last. It’s a basement bar on one of the main streets with a reliable dancefloor and good smoking area. Everyone usually gets along with the music, and there’s Guinness for Declan. IDs checked, it’s not long before they’re in.
Jarrod and Bukayo are by the bar when they arrive. A chorus of “Wahhyyys!” from the lads and “Ahhhs!” from the girls. They’ve all made it to their final destination. Another round of pints, though Mase is feeling exotic and has gone for a GnT.
The group pile their jackets on a nearby table, getting caught in all manner of conversations. Martin catches Kai’s reptilian smile as he chats to Bukayo, laughing about something as they vaguely bop along to the music. It’s loud in here, but not too much that you feel deafened. People are moving all about the place, and the mood feels good.
Martin finds Jarrod and decides to stick with him for a bit. Both of them being on the quieter side always makes for reliable company once everyone starts getting a bit silly. Another runthrough of catching up and work nonsense and what’s happened on the night already. Jarrod and Bukayo were at a gig down the road.
“Good set?” asks Martin.
“Yeah, well good” replies Jarrod. “I didn’t follow B into the mosh pit though” he laughs.
“ ‘Course not. I’ve heard they’re crazy on his tours?”
“Mad, honestly”. Martin likes how Jarod is always awed by live music, and the pedestal he puts it on in his head.
Declan’s trying to get their attention, pointing to the dance floor and giving a little shimmy. The time has come. Gathered up from the bar, the group find their way over to the music and push through the crowd. It’s well past midnight now and the place is thrumming. The DJ’s been on the right wavelength so far with a mix of House and 2-Step.
Martin lets himself find the rhythm and is soon grooving. He’s never been the best dancer, but it’s a busy dancefloor, and no one’s judging if he can’t throw it down. He closes his eyes and lets the alcohol carry him away.
“Mate the vibes!!” Mase keeps shouting out, his face scrunched up in joy. Kai is trying to get into it but isn’t quite feeling it yet. Lauren comes over and forces some life out of him by grabbing his hands. He gives in and belatedly shakes his hips a bit. Bukayo is throwing finger guns all over, always cool as shit on nights like this. Martin wishes he had the finesse he does, especially when it’s a Garage classic being played. Leah is insistent on getting photos, and keeps trying to get everyone to pose for a selfie. Someones always been caught by something else. “Alessia!” she commands, dragging the poor girl back into frame. She was only chatting to some of the people next to them.
Piss time. Martin tells the group and Kai shouts that he’s coming with him. The gents at Kongs aren’t exactly world-class, and the ceiling is lower here for some reason. Kai suddenly looks even taller than usual.
“You not feeling it yet?” asks Martin.
“Nah, I dunno, I’ve not liked the music yet” replies Kai.
Another drink will help. But first, they have to battle the slurry of men weaving in and out of the cubicles and urinals and sinks. It’s a bit of a fight to get over to the taps, and the soap dispenser has been ripped off the wall. Martin checks his hair. “Go on pretty boy!” someone shouts from behind, catching him in the mirror – some twat with a Louis Vuitton t-shirt. Martin smiles awkwardly and ducks for the door.
Kai is waiting, thankfully. “Pricks in there” says Martin.
“Yeah, fuckers” replies Kai.
Back to the dancefloor via the bar. It was Kai’s round anyway. Leah and Declan are dancing close. They’re putting their hands on each other, but not so much that it might cross a boundary. There’s always been chemistry between them, but whether they’d actually sleep with each other is another question. They both look gorgeous though, Dec’s chain glinting from under his t-shirt and Leah in her favourite cream trousers.
Alessia and Lauren have the attention of two guys dancing next to the group. Mason is looking a little defensive as Alessia dances near one of them. Bukayo tries to keep his energy up by getting him to sing along to whatever’s playing. It keeps him distracted at least.
Jarrod suddenly reappears looking concerned. “I can’t find my jacket”.
“Fuck” shouts Kai. “It’s not in the pile?”
“Nah, nah, I’ve looked there”. The obvious question, but it’s always courteous. “I’m gonna check at the bar if it’s been handed in”.
“I’ll come with” says Kai. The dancefloor isn’t agreeing with him tonight. He grabs Martin on the shoulder for a second. “I don’t trust those fuckers behind Alessia and Lauren, keep an eye on them”.
Martin nods. He doesn’t trust them either. The songs are all starting to feel a bit intense. He dances over to the girls to see if they’re doing good, trying to intonate a vibe check with Lauren without saying anything.
She shrugs. He decides they ought to swap places.
That doesn’t make the guys happy. One of them tries to slyly follow Lauren over without making it look obvious. Martin sarcastically moves over to try and block him.
“The fuck?” the guy mutters, but the Norwegian pretends he doesn’t hear.
The guy doesn’t leave, however, sliding his hands down Lauren’s body.
“Do you wanna fuck off?” she swings round, her bag flailing.
The guy plays innocent. Martin doesn’t know what to do, trying to ward this shitbag off with bad vibes. But he looks over to Alessia to see her trying to stop the other guy from kissing her.
“Mate!” he shouts, unsure if she should try and pull him away. Alessia is being polite and nudging his face out of the way of her lips.
“My man, she doesn’t want you” interjects Bukayo. He’s got the confidence to push him away.
“Mate, who the fuck are you?” gruffs the other guy.
“Doesn’t matter, she isn’t into you” shoves back B.
“Whatever.” What a prick, thinks Martin. And both of these twats are still hanging around.
Leah comes ploughing through, having seen the situation. “Hey everyone!” she says mockingly, loud enough for the guys to hear. She pulls Lauren and Alessia over to her.
Alessia says something to the girls, and Leah indicates to get off the dancefloor. The boys follow suit. They end up standing by some tables close to the bar. Martin senses the night slipping away. There are people spilling over from the dancefloor near them and everything is feeling too crowded. Declan isn’t looking happy, unsure what to say.
Jarrod and Kai are back. “You’re kidding!” says Mase. Jaz’s face says it all; there’s been no luck with the jacket.
“I’m fucked off, I’ve had that jacket for ages” rants Jaz. Dec goes over to try and comfort him.
Leah and Alessia have gone to the loos. Bukayo is sat on one of the stools, energy sapped.
“You thinking of heading?” asks Martin. It may as well be ‘I’m leaving’.
“Mmmm, I think so”. B shakes his head as he fiddles with the remains of his vodka coke.
Kai suddenly launches into a rage. “Mate, get the fuck away. You’re pathetic.” That same guy from earlier has tried to sneak through to the crowd to dance with Lauren again.
“Eugh, you’re so fucking gross”. Lauren shoves him away and gets behind the boys.
Kai’s really having a go at them, putting his fingers in their face and slipping into German every other sentence. It’s rare that Martin’s seen him this angry, practically spitting out his words. Mase comes over to pull him back. “Just shove off, alright?” he placates.
The guy swears at them and goes back to his mates. Martin watches him as he goes and sees the same dickhead from the gents with his stupid Louis Vutton t-shirt in the group. He hates that he didn’t feel like he could do more.
The girls are back from the loos, and Leah is practically making for the door already. “Come on gang” says Declan, weaker than his earlier announcements. They get their things and make their way up the stairs.
Out on the street, they try to arrange who’s getting in who’s taxi. Chips are off the table, sadly. No one’s feeling up for going down to the takeaways, and the alcohol has all got a bit much. Dec has Leah in his arms, trying to give her some comfort. Those dickheads really ruined everyone’s nights. Mase, Kai and B are still muttering about them, whilst Jaz keeps his hands in his pockets, now jacket-less, very much still pissed off. Martin’s having no luck with Uber, so he goes to find a cashpoint to flag down a cab instead.
“Right, me, Lauren and Alessia are gonna get in this one” says Mase, having seen his car arriving. At least everyone tries to remember the better parts of the night as they’re saying their goodbyes. Plans for later in the week and next weekend get half-mentioned.
“Love you Martin, see you soon”. Alessia gives the Norwegian an enveloping hug courtesy of her puffer jacket.
“What a load of shit eh” he remarks.
“Fuck them. See you soon”.
“Text us when you’re back” waves Declan, shouting down the street. “Will do” comes back from Alessia.
“I’m just gonna walk” says Bukayo.
“No, you’re not” says Leah, launching up from Declan. “We’re gonna find a six seater”. She takes charge of the taxi search.
“Nah, it’s okay”.
“No” commands Leah. B backs down. “Look, there’s one”. She heads over to ask the driver how much. The boys vaguely wander in her direction. She waves her hand and indicates for them to come over.
No one says much on the ride home. Martin aimlessly looks out of the window, the crowds gradually thinning out, passing the late night shops and unlit offices. It’s well past 3am by now and he’s been exhausted by it all.
Hugs and handholding follow everyone as they leave – Bukayo first, then Leah. “Text me when you’re back" each of them ask as they get out.
Eventually, they’re at Declan and Kai’s stop.
“Do you guys wanna come up?” Dec asks Jarrod and Martin.
“Ah, I think I’ll skip” says Jarrod, cosied by the warmth of the taxi.
“No worries man, get to bed” says Dec as he fist bumps him. “Martin?”
“Yeah, go on, I’ll come up”. Martin’s glad Declan asked. He’s feeling off and doesn’t fancy going back to his flat just yet. “See you soon Jaz.”
Up in the flat, Kai is haphazardly making some toast. He’s calmed down a bit, but is still really rather tipsy. Plates and cupboards clang as he makes his food. Declan’s thumbing through his records, trying to find something chill to soundtrack the end of the night. Martin is slumped on the sofa, watching him work through his collection.
“I can’t stand those sorts of people. Why do we go out?” Martin says to the room.
“I always say I’m done with clubbing” muffles Kai, mouth full of toast, “and then I never say no”.
Martin sniggers. “You were right about those guys though”.
“Yeah”. It’s only really a consolation from Kai.
Declan’s whacks on an old Bowie record, volume low, and wraps his legs up on his armchair.
“You and Leah good?” asks Kai, joining them.
“Yeah, we’re good. She was just fucked off about it all.” Dec runs his hand through his hair. He turns to the Norwegian. “Are you okay Martin?” he asks, more sternly.
It’s the question he wanted someone to ask. “I’m…eh, I dunno. I wish I could have done more when it was happening.”
“Yeah man…don’t knock yourself though” reassures Declan. “You never know how they’re gonna react.”
“Exactly” muffles Kai, still speaking with his mouth full. “I’ve seen people get punched for it.”
“I think I’m also just a bit…” continues Martin, finding his words, “...like, I’ve been waiting for this all week, and then that happens, and then Jarrod gets his coat nicked, and…” He trails off.
This might not have been the laidback afters that Declan had in mind. But that’s not important to him. They all end up talking through how the night has left them feeling, and perhaps more pertinently, how they’re all feeling in general. The kind of conversations that need it to be at least 4am to really work.
The record comes to the end. Kai may be tired, but he never looks it. Always quite spritely with his movements, despite how reserved he usually is. “I’m going off to bed lads, night night” he says, waving as he walks out.
“Night” the other two say back. Martin goes to gather his things and head off too. Declan follows him towards the door.
“Do you wanna stay here man? You look knackered” says Dec. Observant as ever. Martin looks bedraggled.
“Ah, I dunno if I wanna sleep on the sofa” mumbles Martin.
“Nah nah, come sleep in my bed.” Declan points to his room. “We can top and tail.”
“Are you sure?” Martin’s only asking out of politeness.
“Mate of course. I don’t really want you walking home like that.”
Dec chucks him some pyjamas whilst Martin piles his belongings in the corner. “Cheers lad” he says as he buttons off his shirt.
They’ve seen each other like this plenty of times before. The platonic intimacy of their friendship was something that got established early on. An unspoken care for each other in being able to be this open. Very rarely did they ever say anything about it, precisely because nothing needed to be said about it. Of course Declan was the kind of person who’d offer this sort of friendship. Of course Martin was the sort of person who would reciprocate.
The gentle spray of rain fimbles at the window. Dec turns the light out as Martin adjusts his end of the covers, careful not to pull them too far in his direction. His ears are still humming from the music, and his head feels light. It’s still dark outside, but it feels like early morning. Last time they did this, whilst staying at a mate’s house on a weekend away, they kept giggling so much they almost didn’t get to sleep. Not this time – but that’s okay. Martin just needs the company, and for all Declan’s stoicness, he needs it too.

Dream About Me
(Chapter 7) (Mason Mount/Kai Havertz)
Tumblr media
pairing: Mason Mount / Kai Havertz (m/m)
summary: The team had its best season in a long time; qualification for European tournaments was almost in Chelsea FC's hands. The problems came right at the end of the season, when their young star player had to leave training due to the sudden death of his father, and when came back, he seemed to lose all his ability on the ball, as well as the person he used to be.
Mason starts the next season trying to get his life back on track and put the pain of that summer behind him, but everything changes when Chelsea's newest player, Kai Havertz, appears in his life. And in his dreams too… Is he dreaming?
Now, his new teammate will flip his world upside down in the craziest ways he could have ever imagined.

CHAPTER 7
After games at Stamford Bridge, traffic in the city was always a mess, and even more so when they coincidentally clashed with the home games of Arsenal, causing a complete mess on London's main thoroughfares. The complex of buildings in which most of the young men in the team rented flats was not too far from the stadium, usually taking only twenty or thirty minutes to get home by bus, but on special occasions like that, the time could stretch to two whole hours, even when Ben had offered to give him a lift.
—Hey, Ben —Mason called from the passenger seat. He wasn't looking at him, but at the traffic, at the cars almost completely stopped next to them, perhaps to keep him from noticing that his curiosity was less casual than he intended to make it seem— Can I ask you a question?
The older man raised an eyebrow.
—Uh, sure. What's the matter?
—Well, it just occurred to me... How do you know if a person is neurodivergent?
The horns of the cars around them blared from time to time over the music they were listening to, chosen by the car's owner, who lowered the volume a little before replying.
—You don't mean you, do you?
—No! No, no, no, actually it's just a bit of a, a curiosity about someone else, okay?
—Well, I want to clarify first that it would be unethical to talk to you about this being about you, let alone right now.
—It's not about me, seriously, it's not.
—Okey —He nodded, as the car moved forward under the green light at the traffic light. —Well, it's a little hard to answer that one, Mase. Neurodivergences are, in fact, very diverse, so they have very different kinds of particularities, and there are levels of functionality between the different types of neurodivergences, so it's very difficult to define common characteristics. The only thing I could tell you is that all neurodivergent people have mental and cognitive processes that do differ from the norm, but they don't always affect the same interactions with other people.
—Uh, so... Would it be possible for a neurodivergent person to have processes that affect...?
—Any aspect could be affected, but not necessarily in a negative way, just different from other people.
—And they... Do they realise that they are different?
—They can, it depends very much on the way their mental and cognitive processes work. Also, if they do, some neurodivergent people make great efforts to hide the characteristics of their neurodivergence in their relationships with other people.
—Oh. Hiding it to prevent people from knowing that they are neurodivergent?
—Yes, just as some people hide their ethnicity or sexual orientation, but that also depends on whether they want to do it or not. Some people find it too burdensome to have to do it all the time and may simply decide not to do it.
—Or do it only sometimes?
It made sense the way he had imagined it, and yet, taking into account the differences Ben had just mentioned, he felt completely inexperienced enough to even believe that he was now sure of the reasons for Kai's behaviour. It could explain a lot of things, but he wasn't going to ask Kai, was he?
—Yes, or only sometimes —he nodded. The older man was silent for a few seconds as they moved through traffic, but he had to speak again, this time looking at Mason— So, are you going to tell me who this is about?
—Uh, well... It's, it's something I've been trying to start talking to Jack about in therapy, I don't know if he's told you anything about it.
—We don't do that, dumbass —he laughed— He hasn't talked to me about any of it, at all, so I'm listening.
—It's bullshit, honestly, and I’m a bit embarrassed talking abut boy problems, but it’s Kai. Kai Havertz.
—Oh. You think he might be neurodivergent?
—Well, there are a lot of things that make me wonder... stuff about him.
— "Stuff"? So there are updates on this, huh? —he smiled— I'm ready to hear all about it.
—As a psychologist or as a professional busybody?
—As your best mate who you might want to give an update on your life.
—Well, I definitely owe you that, but it's not my fault, you should take me home more often after games —he joked, changing the music in the car to one of the suggestions he'd added to the playlist. At the same time, he took advantage of that space of silent time to plan his next words— I think... Maybe I should tell you all over again from the beginning, now that more things have happened.
—You're killing me with curiosity, Mase.
Mason wasn't an expert at summing things up, and though he'd tried in the previous session with Jack, now that he was under no time pressure whatsoever, he'd been able to tell Ben everything he felt about it, every detail he'd noticed since meeting Kai and how much was really going through his mind when he was with him. From the time when he'd wondered how much he could follow his instincts back when he still thought he'd dreamt it all, to now, when his visits had been a regular occurrence for a couple of weeks now and he felt much less and less surprised to see him show up on his doorstep, though his heartbeat didn't take it quite so quietly.
It took a while and some extra explanation to make Ben understand, but he managed after a while.
—You mean...? Okay, I'm not going to assume anything, so... How do you feel about him? —Ben asked. They were now in the living room of Mount's flat after finally arriving in the building only a couple of minutes ago. On the clock, the hands read eleven o'clock at night, the television was showing some reality show they weren't paying attention to, and in front of them both rested two glasses of juice.
—Uh, well, I mean, I haven't wondered about that at all. Who does?
—Everybody, Mason —he smiled.
—Well, I don't know, I mean... Uh, okay, I think Kai's nice, he's a good person and... I like him a lot, he's someone really nice to be around —he said, shrugging. He didn't notice the insistent look Ben gave him after he said that, until it turned into a sneer— I don't have anything else to say, Ben, I, I think he's really cool.
—Well, if that's what feels right for you to say, that's fine. I think it's safe to say you're friends now, don't you?
—Uh, yeah, I think so. Yeah, we are.
—Well, I'm glad. It's been a while since you've had a new friendship, and especially over the time your psychological process has taken. I think it's a positive development.
—Yes, well, the problem isn't really there. It's clear to me that we're friends, I suppose, but... I just wonder why he pretends that we're not sometimes. I wonder why he acts so different sometimes, in general, because it doesn't make sense in my mind, you know? And that makes me think that maybe his mind and my mind are different, I guess.
—Well, no two people are the same, Mase. So, do you think this could all be a sign that he's a neurodivergent person?
—I don't know, you're the psychologist.
Ben didn't hide a wry chuckle at the comment.
—I'm a psychologist, not a fucking fortune teller, man —he said, pushing aside the ice cubes so he could sip from his glass— If you wanted to get a proper diagnosis, I'd have to diagnose him directly, and that would probably take some time. But, listen, it shouldn't necessarily have to be about neurodivergence, it could just be the way he is, or there could be some cultural reason, although it's also possible that he is indeed neurodivergent. Actually, I think it's important for you to know that, whatever the reason for his behaviour, that's not the issue here, the issue is how you feel about it.
His words, followed by a long silence, echoed in the other's mind. And his gaze could not help but sadden as he remembered that perhaps this was something he should worry about, or at least think about. He had been avoiding it, and he liked the idea of continuing to avoid it better.
—Uh... I mean, I... it's confusing to me. It obviously baffles me at times, but, really, I don't think he has any wrong motive for this. I don't want to misjudge him, anyway. Besides, why would I have to think about it so much? We're just friends, you know?
—Yeah —he smiled— I know, you're friends, that was clear to both of us the entire way. But, you know, Mason, people worry about their relationship with their friends too, it's normal.
—Yeah, well... I know. I know, it's just... It's a bit confusing, that's just because Kai is actually quite a strange person.
—Is that good or bad?
—It's weird. But I like spending time with him.
—Well, if he's here so often, he probably likes to spend time with you too. Relax —he smiled kindly. His mate, sitting across from him, was silent for a few seconds, his hand twirling his phone on the table. Sometimes, that kind of thought reminded him that maybe he made things a lot bigger in his mind—. Hey, but he's not coming to visit you right now, is he?
Mason smiled.
—No, no. I don't think so, he didn't say anything to me about it —he was about to remain silent without another word, but something inside him was urging him to talk more about it. Maybe it was his own mind, and if he was going to think about his teammate, maybe he'd rather do it with someone else— Hey, can I tell you something?
—You know you can, what's going on?
—Sorry to keep going on about it, but... well, last week...

The song playing on the radio wasn't enough to distract you from your nerves, your fingers tapping nervously against your knee. You turned your face and looked over to your boyfriend, who gladly was paying enough attention on the road to not notice your anxious attics.
Mason took a last turn and parked in front of the restaurant where you both had agreed to meet his friends for brunch. He turned to face you and gave you his beautiful smile that made your heart warm, but soon his brow furrowed when he noticed how your leg was shaking now.
"Are you feeling okay, baby?" He asked, worry noticeable in his voice.
"Yes babe, I'm fine." You tried your best to fake a smile, nodding your head.
“You sure?” His head tipped to the side, his body leaning closer just for him to interlock his fingers on yours.
Mason’s palm was warm against yours, your heart calming down from your worries for a moment. You could say you weren’t feeling okay, that you’d prefer to stay home that afternoon, you knew Mason wasn’t going to force you to go out with him. He’d probably cancel his plans to stay with you. But you already had so much going on in your head and you didn’t want to cause a fuss, Mason already had his own problems and you felt that you had no need to bring your problems to him.
“I’m okay really,” You squeezed his hand, leaning to peck his lips. “Shall we go?”
His gaze still had remnants of worry, his eyes scanning your features to be sure of your words, his lips pecking yours in another soft kiss when he nodded his head after a moment. He undid his seatbelt and you did the same, as always Mason got out first then opened the door for you, something that always made your heart swell in affection. You thanked him with a kiss on the cheek, his hand intertwined with yours again after he locked his car and you both walked into the restaurant entrance.
Although you had calmed down for a moment, as soon as you entered the restaurant you felt sick to your stomach. You already had been to some fancy places with Mason, he liked to take you out to the best places in town, and as much as you knew he did it because he liked to spoil you, deep down you felt uncomfortable and even sad. Your financial situation wasn’t a problem to Mason, he knew since the beginning that your lives and way of living were totally opposites, but he never worried about it as much as you did.
Mason was an incredible man, his amazing personality with his funny sense of humour and his caring and gentle actions was what drew you to him. He never cared about that kinda stuff, and you knew you shouldn’t too, but that wasn’t so easy for you to do. And it became a lot harder when you started having problems in your bank account after you lent money to your stupid brother who never cared to pay back.
It all started a few months ago, when your brother asked you to help him with his business and played your role of good sister, you decided to help him after talking with your parents. He was supposed to pay you back some weeks ago but he never did, even stopped replying to your calls and texts.
You carried a huge burden on your back trying to figure out how to solve your problem, feeling embarrassed to ask for help from anyone around you even if you knew they’d help you out with anything you needed.
Your thoughts were running wild again but then your attention was brought to the world when you saw Sophia waving and smiling excitedly at you, making you smile a little. When you both finally got to the table where your friends were sitting you greeted all of them with a hug and a small smile, Sophia pulling you to sit by her side immediately.
“It’s been so long since we saw each other!” She exclaimed, a warm smile on her face. “We should do something together sometime.”
“Yes, we totally should!” You chuckled a little, “How have you been?”
You both engaged in a conversation about your lives, you trying to distract your thoughts from your issues for a moment. You felt Mason’s arm sneaking around your shoulder and that made you calm yourself a little, he knew something was off but didn’t want to push it and you were grateful for that. He was too involved in his conversation with Kai and Reece but you saw him smile from the corner of your eye when you stroke his thigh gently.
The brunch was filled with parallel conversations and laughter, some of the guys always making a joke and that for sure lifted your spirit a bit, but when Mason paid yours and his bill after eating dessert the feeling of guilt washed over you completely. You both said your goodbyes before leaving, you promising Sophia you would call her anytime so you too could hang out together.
“Did you enjoy today?” Mason’s voice was soft when he broke the silence in the car, his eyes alternating between you and the street.
“Yeah, it was really fun,” You turned to look at him. “Thank you Mase.”
“No need for thanking me babe,” He intertwined his fingers on yours again, kissing the back of your hand and giving you a warm smile.
His sweet words and loving actions almost made you cry, the lump in your throat starting to feel too hard to hold. But you just smiled at him, trying to hold your tears until you got to his house. And when he finally parked in front of his gate you let out a sigh of relief, wanting nothing more than to just get rid of your make up and take the longest nap of your life.
You entered his house leaving your heels by his hall of entrance, following directly to his room upstairs. Mason furrowed his brows when he saw you almost run upstairs, normally you both would stay at his living room to watch some film but this time you just skipped without even saying anything, and he knew you enough to know that something was definitely wrong and he didn’t know how to approach you.
He entered his room, finding you sneaking into one of hoodies after changing your clothes. He smiled at the sight, his arms wrapping around you from behind. You turned around in his embrace, your head hiding in the crook of his neck and sighing in comfort. “I don’t feel very good, I think I’m gonna take a nap.” Your voice was almost a whisper and he pulled away to look at you with worry in his eyes.
“Are you feeling sick? Did something happen?” His hands came to stroke your cheeks and you closed your eyes to the feeling.
“It’s just a headache, I’m gonna take some painkillers and just rest a bit.” Mason still had his brow furrowed, his eyes not leaving yours.
“Are you sure that’s all?” You felt the knots in your stomach again when he asked you, and this time you looked away from his eyes because you knew he was worried and you couldn’t handle that at the moment.
“Yes, don’t worry.” That's all you said before pulling away from his arms and walking to the en-suite.
You heard him sigh but was glad he didn’t say anything, deciding to focus on getting rid of your make up. You washed your face and started your skincare routine, but you were soon interrupted when you heard a cell phone ring followed by your boyfriend’s voice.
“Babe it’s yours.” His voice was muffled when he yelled from his room.
“Can you answer for me?” You yelled back and went back to what you were doing after he shouted back an okay.
Mason didn’t said anything more and you went back to what you were doing, finishing your routine and following back to his room. But as soon as you entered his bedroom and saw him blinking at your phone you knew something happened. Your heart started to race and a million scenarios went through your head.
“Who was it?” You managed to ask, your hands trembling with nervousness.
He looked at you with an indecipherable expression, but when he answered your question you already felt the tears in your eyes. “It was the bank.”
All you wanted was to curse yourself and run away from his look, but all you did was stay in place with the tears running down your face. You were unable to form a sentence and didn’t have the strength to walk away, feeling ashamed by how things went down so suddenly. Mason stood from his spot immediately when he saw you crying, his hands cupping your cheeks trying to give you the comfort you needed.
“Y/n, hey…” He tried to make you look at him but you just kept looking down, his own heart breaking when you let out a painful sob. “Baby look at me, please.”
Mason sighed when you shook your head, his arms wrapping around you and bringing you closer to him. Your tears started to wet his shirt and you felt even more ashamed, the feeling of embarrassment washing over you along with guilt for not having the courage to bring your issues to your relationship. He guided both of you to the bed, where he seated and brought you to sit by his side, his hand gently stroking your hair.
“I’m sorry.” You managed to say between sobs, and Mason felt his heart clench.
“Why are you apologising? There's nothing to be sorry about.” He said softly, his hand lifting your chin so he could look at you. He wiped the tears from your face and kissed your cheek, his eyes filled with worry and pain because he hated to see you crying. “How did that happen?” His fingers gently caressed your face.
When you locked your eyes in his you felt another wave of tears, another sob leaving your lips and Mason didn’t say anything more, just wrapped you in a tight hug. His hands stroked your back and he kept kissing your face and your forehead trying to calm you down, his voice whispering sweet nothings to you and as time passed you could already breath calmly and your chest didn’t hurt as much as it did minutes before. You two kept in silence for another moment, you fighting with yourself to find the right words to finally talk about everything with him.
“Do you remember when my brother asked for my help a couple of months ago?” You mumbled, your voice cracking in the middle of the sentence but Mason just nodded and waited for you to continue. “He asked me to lend him some money so he could start his business. At first I was taken aback but he managed to convince me. I called my parents and they convinced me to help him too, they said he had changed so I lent him the money.”
You took a deep breath and pulled away from him slightly, your eyes now focused on the hem of his shirt where you fidgeted with your fingers. “He was supposed to pay me back weeks ago, but he started to ignore my phone calls and my messages.” You let out a chuckle in disbelief, shaking your head. “I was trying to be a good sister and support him after everything but that only got me in the red on my bank account.” You could feel the tears in the corner of your eyes, not having the urge to fight them.
Mason stayed in silence trying to sink in what you just had told him, his blood boiling at the thought of your brother doing something like that to you. Everybody knew he had a bad background, you had told that to Mason since the beginning of your relationship and he always supported your decisions when it came to your brother besides not trusting him at all.
“Your brother is an fucking asshole,” He started and his heart warmed when you chuckled at his words. “Baby I’m so sorry you have to go through something like that.”
“He is for sure.” You mumbled, looking up to meet his eyes.
“Why didn’t you say anything? You know I’d help you in a blink of an eye.”
This time you looked away again, already shooking your head to what he was about to say. “Mason we already-”
“Y/n look at me,” He lifted your chin again and your teary eyes met his again. “I know you like to be independent and deal with your stuff on your own, but you can’t think that you’re gonna solve your problems by yourself for the rest of your life.” He wiped the stubborn tear that ran down your cheek.
“It’s just… it’s embarrassing.” You whispered and closed your eyes, not knowing how to handle his look at you.
“But it doesn’t have to be. You can’t deal with everything on your own, it’s okay if you ask for help when you need it.” You feel his lips on your cheek in a sweet kiss, a sigh leaving your lips as you rested your forehead against his shoulder.
You didn’t say anything back, just stayed there in his arms seeking the comfort you needed. Although the feeling of embarrassment kept itching inside you, on the other hand you knew Mason was more than right. You needed help, more than anything at the moment, and he was more than happy to help you out even if you didn’t like it. It was at that same moment you realised how much he really cared about you and that made your heart swell in your chest.
“Look at me,” He said gently after some time, lifting your head so he could look into his eyes. “I love you, okay? More than everything and we’re gonna get through this together.” His words made your eyes teary again, but this time not with sadness and worry but with gratitude and relief.
“I love you too.” You whispered back at him, pulling him closer and brushing your lips against his. It was just a peck, a soft and gentle kiss that made your heart jump with so much love. “I just don’t wanna feel like a burden to you.”
“Stop with that, you’re never gonna be a burden to me. I’m your boyfriend, I’m always gonna be here for you whenever you need me. And you don’t have to be ashamed to seek help.” You were feeling a lot calmer, his words making you open your eyes to your situation and accepting that he was indeed right. You still had the feeling of worry, but knowing Mason was willing to help you with that fucked up stituation made you gather your thoughts to the right direction. “You’re gonna let me help you?” He asked, his eyes searching for an answer.
“Yes.” You nodded at him and he gave you a warm smile that you reciprocated.
He pulled you into a tight hug, your eyes closing as you let yourself give into his touch, his kisses making you feel better for a moment.
“Everything will be fine, I promise.” He whispered and you just hummed.
That wasn’t how you planned things to turn out, but fortunately it turned out better than you thought it would be. You trusted in Mason’s words and now your heart was at ease after a long time in weeks.

He’s not my boyfriend
Pairing: Mason Mount x Fem!Reader
Warnings: none I guess.
Summary: You and Mason have known each other for a while and have had your romantic moments together but you have never let that get in the way of your friendship, that is until one Sunday when you went to lunch at his parents' house and in a joke you ended up realizing the feelings that you have for each other.
Tumblr media
Mason and I met because of Sophia, Kai's girlfriend, her and I met at a coffee shop a few years ago and became friends after that, and I think a few months later she invited me to a club where the boys were going to celebrate Chelsea's victory against some other team that I don't remember the name.
And so that's where me and Mase met, in the beginning when we were introduced we didn't talk much but when me and Sophia went dancing, someone on the dance floor bumped into me and I tripped and twisted my ankle and that's when he and the boys came running to see if I was ok, they tried to convince me to leave but I didn't want to get in the way of their celebration so I said I would sit in the VIP area where we were and that's when he offered to stay there with me.
It was then that we started talking that night and that is when our friendship began, I admit that we had our moments of weakness where we were certainly not just friends at that time but we never let it get in the way of our friendship.
It was now Sunday and we were going to his parents' house for lunch, Mason said that they wanted to make sure that I was going and I’m actually a little nervous about the fact that it would be the first time that I would meet his niece.
And I know how much she loves him and that he loves her too and I really want her to like me or it would be really bad if she didn't.
I was just finishing putting on my sneakers when I heard someone knocking on the door, I stood up and when I opened it I saw Mason with his typical silly smile and a bouquet of flowers in his hand.
"I brought them for you." He held out a bouquet of lilies, which were my favorite flowers.
"Awn, thanks Mase, they're beautiful." I took them in my hand and smelled them. "Come on in. I'll put them in a vase."
"You look nervous." He says closing the apartment door.
"That's because I am." I turn off the water and place the bouquet into the vase.
"And why is that? You already know my parents."
"But not your niece and I know how important your relationship is to you and I don't want her to dislike me."
"She'll love you, don't worry."
We left next before we were late and the whole way I was nervous and it only got worse when he parked in front of his parents' house. The trip from London to Portsmouth was an hour and 25 minutes so we had to leave early.
We got out of the car and Mason had to take my hand and lead me to the door because otherwise I would be standing by the car by now.
"It's going to be okay." He says in my ear before he opens the door and we walk in. "We're here."
"Uncle Macey." I heard a childish voice and she came running up to him.
She was the cutest little thing of all, she was wearing a Chelsea jersey with his number and Mount in the back and in a blue skirt with lights.
"Hi my love." He bends down to her height letting go of my hand and hugging her. "How are you?"
"Good, did you know I'm going to get a little brother or sister?"
"I know so, are you excited?"
"Yes." She answers excitedly and looks at me. "Hi."
"Hi." I smile lowering myself to her height. "I'm y/n."
"I'm Summer."
"I know, your Uncle Masey talks about you a lot."
"Are you his girlfriend?"
"We're friends."
"Your hair is beautiful." She says running her hand through the blue locks in the middle of the brown ones.
"Yours too, I love your pig tails." She smiles and hugs me.
"Do you think my mom will let me have hair like yours?"
"Here’s the thing, I have some colorful locks of hair at my house, you ask your mom if she'll let you go there and your Uncle Macey will take you there sometime okay?"
"Alright, I'll ask her." She rushes off and I stand up.
"She's a sweetheart." I turn to him, who smiles. "you’re doing it again.
"Doing what?"
"Looking at me with that silly smile."
"Oh, sorry I..."
"No need to apologize, I like it." He smiles and takes my hand leading me to where his family was.
After lunch and helping with the dishes, Summer patted my leg and I bent down to hear what she wanted.
"Do you want to play with me?"
"Sure." She smiles and takes my hand, pulling me into the living room.
We sit on the floor on a fluffy rug that was there, she brought a male and a female doll and I got the female doll.
"Do they have names?"
"This one here is Mason and that one there could be you." She says innocently. "Then you could be Uncle Macey's girlfriend."
She looked at me with those big, bright eyes and I couldn't tell her it couldn't be that way, and so we started joking around and I admit it was funny when she made Mason and I kiss.
"What are my favorite girls doing?" He asks coming over to us and sitting down next to me.
"We're playing dolls, that's you and that's Auntie y/n." She says distractedly. "You are her boyfriend here."
"Am I?" He says looking at me with a teasing look. "Let’s hope that in real life se will be too."
I looked at him surprise and Mason just gave that silly smile again that makes me fall in love with him every time he does it.
[...]
Summer was extremely upset when it was time for us to leave, but Mason arranged with his sister for him to bring her to my house next Sunday so that the three of us could spend the day together.
The way to my apartment was silent on our part, with only the music in the background.
"Do you want to stay for dinner?" I asked unbuckling my seat belt.
"Are you sure? We've already spent the day together."
"Oh okay." I said gracelessly and got out of the car.
"Sorry I didn't mean to sound like I didn't want to be with you, because I do, I just didn't want you to feel obligated to take me in after we spent the day together." He explains himself quickly.
"Mase, if I didn't want you here I wouldn't have invited you. I like being with you."
"Fine, we can cook together." I smiled at him and we took the elevator to my apartment.
"What I said there was true." I looked at him. "About you being my girlfriend."
"What about it?"
"I like you, I've liked you since the first time I saw you and when I had the opportunity to get to know you better I fell even more in love. You are kind and caring and I love everything about you.
"Mase..."
"And I know I may be ruining our friendship by admitting this but I can no longer hide that I..."
As he kept talking I kissed him, I held his face with my hands and kissed him, he was surprised but soon kissed me back.
We had kissed before but this time it was different, this time we were allowing our romantic feelings to show up in the kids.
"I'm in love with you too Mase and I would love to be your girlfriend."
"That's great because I really wanted you to be my girlfriend."

Sumer fun in the sun (and a lil spice)
You join your best friend on a summer all expenses payed trip to spend some time on a fancy yacht in the Mediterranean sea. What you don't account for is her boyfriend's hot friend also being there.
Tumblr media
Word Count : 2.6k
The Mediterranean sun burns hot, making the deck of the yacht smell of dry charred wood mixed with the salt from the sea filling the air. You walk out of the safe cool shade of the cabin hissing the moment your bare feet reach the burning surface of the deck. Your eyes scan the space for a comfortable seat, to read your book while catching some sun rays - to work on your tan. As you move you let yourself stretch the muscles of your body, still feeling the lingering feeling of last night, and the man who you spent the night with.
You get comfortable on one of the deck chairs and let yourself get lost in your book. Your mind wanders back to just a few hours ago, when you were engulfed in the touches of the man, his soft, laboured breaths in your ears. Your fingers touch the space where your collarbone meets your neck, where only hours ago he worshipped you like you were a goddess, only for it to now become a measly patch of soft, pillowy skin. The feeling of his strong hands on your hips - now only a memory. You shake your head trying to rid yourself of the memories - after all this is what you wanted. You asked for this when you let yourself give in to his smile and gorgeous eyes. “Good morning beautiful.” The sound of Mason’s voice brings you out of your thoughts.
“Hey you!” you smile shielding your eyes from the sun with your book.
“Did you sleep well?” he asks, sliding into the chair next to you, the warm summer breeze playing with his hair making you chuckle.
“Yeah pretty decent,” you flash a grin at him. “What about you? Had a good night?”
“Oh yeah me, Ben, Grealo and the girls stayed up playing beer-pong and shit… You should have stayed with us!”
“And have you fight for my attention?” you tease. “I had to give the girls and beer pong a fair chance.”
“You wish!” Mason laughs.
“It’s just because you and Sasha are boring old hags.” Ben’s voice ringing from behind you startles you.
“Who are you calling a hag, bro?!” you swat your book at him as he sits at the foot of your chair making Mason laugh loudly.
“No but for real,” Ben says, glaring at Mason. “It was really great! I’m glad we did this.”
You chuckle, about to say something when Mason interrupts you. “Kai! My boy!” he shouts wolf whistling “You absolute dog!”
You look over your shoulder to see Kai Havertz emerge with one of the instagram models the boys dragged along, by his side giggling about something he must have said. You thank the stars that you are wearing sunglasses so the others don’t see you roll your eyes.
“So that’s why you were not at beer pong last night!” Ben exclaims, wiggling his eyebrows.
The german shoots them a cheeky smile which makes your stomach churn into a knot. You glance at him, not meeting his eyes.
“Good morning,” he says, letting his palm graze your shoulder, making something bubble inside your chest.
“Hi Kai,” you say coldly “Sleep well?”
“Fantastic.” You don’t need to face him to know he is giving you a lazy half smile.
“Good to know.” You return your gaze to your book, trying to act unimpressed by the addition of an instagram girl at his side.
“How about you?” he asks.
“Decent, nothing to write home about.” You shrug and finally look at him expecting to see a reaction, but all you receive is a polite and friendly smile. You can’t lie, there is a certain part of you that feels hurt and angry at his coolness. You clench your jaw to not show any semblance of emotion.
“Anyways,” you bite back a reaction, not wanting to give him even an ounce of the satisfaction he just robbed you of, “I’m gonna leave you guys to catch up I need some water… See you later." You ignore the protests of your friends making your way back into the cabin. Truth be told you need to get a grip, away from Kai and his girl.
The coolness of the kitchen in contrast to the heat of the deck covers your skin in prickly goosebumps. You lean against one of the counters rubbing your face, a desperate attempt at trying to remove the heat from your cheeks. The quiet that surrounds you allows you to finally let out the breath you have been holding in for the last ten minutes. You open the tap and rub your hands under the running water as if trying to wash off the memory of his sweaty skin against your palms. You bite back tears of frustration at your own stupidity. You shut off the water bringing your cool hands to your face once again as if trying to cool off the mess of emotions bubbling behind your eyes and in your head. Memories of you and him come rushing back to you instantly. You bite back the sour taste of remembering how your limbs had been intertwined on this same counter not even a day earlier, the same one your lower back is currently pressed against. You can almost feel his body pinning you against the cool marble once again, his lips on yours telling you how hot and perfect you are. The slow rocking of the boat mimicking the way he would guide your body back and forth to feel better. You bite your lip remembering the feelings that he had made you experience, almost being able to map him out again just by standing here. You let your fingers trace the curves of your body the places he had touched, throwing your head back feeling pleasure creep up in your stomach again. As you slowly let your fingers run from your hip to your inner thigh, biting down your lip and closing your eyes you hum his name to yourself.
Suddenly you hear the sound giggling approach and you quickly straighten up pretending to be interested in the contents of the fruit basket, that you had already become familiar with when you knocked it over the night prior. Within seconds two girls appear around the corner. You have barely had time to talk to them as they have been circling the boys like fruit flies, although you recognize the tall brunette as the girl Kai had shown up with this morning.
You’ve agreed to come on this trip as Sasha’s friend, after Jack dragged her with him on his “big lads on tour summer break bonanza” or whatever they call it. You and Sasha have been friends from way back when Jack had barely broken through first team ranks and she was still an up and coming model, but since then you have been an inseparable duo. Sasha and you had always spent a girls holiday away together with your other friends, but this year Jack had practically begged his girlfriend to tag along and so she had dragged you along as well citing “What bad could happen on an all expenses paid holiday on a yacht with a couple of close friends?”. Then of course the close friends of your close friends had invited a few girls they had met and here you were, surrounded by a bunch of football players and instagram models. Of course you weren’t complaining as Sasha had made sure you were treated like a queen, besides you had already been pretty chummy with Ben due to social functions at Sasha and Jack's, and you and Mase had clicked instantly from day one. The boys had treated you like one of the gang quick enough, probably because you were Jack’s VIP for the time being. The only one who you had not instantly become friends with was Kai.
The two of you had spent the first few nights sharing glances and exchanging lingering touches disguised as something purely accidental. Then one of the days you had caught him watching you from the safe shadow of the cabin door, while you and Sasha were sunbathing on the front of the boat - the laser sharp focus of his blue eyes slowly untying the loose strings of your bikini bottoms making you feel your skin tingle with shivers that felt like pure fire. You had smiled at him, excusing yourself, saying you wanted to quickly give your mom a call. Once you made it inside you had pulled him into one of the bathrooms.
“What do you think you are doing?” you asked looking up at him, which was a huge mistake because the moment your eyes met you felt something in your stomach drop.
“I was just looking at the sea,” he smiled down at you a lazy grin on his face.
“Yeah sure that’s what you were doing,” you breathed feeling his fingers slide up and down your side.
“You didn’t like it?” he asked quietly as he tugged at the string and it came undone.
“I never said I didn’t like it.” You smiled letting your nails slowly run down his arms feeling him flex under your touch. “Kai.”
“I like it when you say my name like that.” His lips were on your neck.
“Like what?” you pressed against him feeling him against your stomach, “Kai.”“You accent,” his breathing was unsteady. “Say it again.”
“Kai,” you purred, “please?”
He didn’t answer, just gripped you so your legs were around his waist within seconds and his mouth was roaming every inch he could get to. Your voice hoarse from whispering his name over and over again by the end of it. And then you would move along without a second thought, two ships in the night, a relationship built only on meetings in secret when it was convenient, leaving both of you panting and your heads spinning. And then you would always go back to Sasha and watch Kai have other girls all over him. But it was okay because you would never fall asleep next to him, in his arms. You never let it get that intimate. Until last night.
“Eyo!” Sasha's waving hand in front of your face brings you out of your daydream. “You here?”
“Yeah,” you blush, unaware how long you've been zoned out looking at the fruit basket. “Just zoned out.”
“You okay?” Her face full of concern.
“Yeah… just got a bit hot in the sun I think," you brush it off. You hate lying to your best friend, but you don't know how to tell her the truth. You don't want to admit spending the night with Kai has made your head all a mess. And you don't want to admit that seeing him with the girl just a pair of hours after you were the one curled against him practically ripped your heart out.
“Oh babe didn't you wear a hat?” she asks, her voice sounding dangerously close to that of a mother hen.
“Yeah love,” you say “I went out to read this morning and I think I forgot to get some water, that's why I'm in here."
“You feeling better?” her eyes are still full of worry.
“Yes!” You smile. “I was actually heading back outside! Let's go relax and enjoy some fresh air!”
The suggestion seems to take away all the worry from her big doey eyes and replaces her face with excitement. Seeing her happy like this momentarily takes away all the worries plaguing you for a moment.
The two of you make your way back to the deck where everyone is already celebrating the holidays. You see Ben chatting up a leggy redhead a little bit away while Mason and Jack are having what you would best describe as an idiot-off by the edge of the boat, but judging by the group of girls around it's very entertaining. The only person you cannot seem to get your eyes on is Kai. You breathe out a sigh of relief at the realisation that you can avoid the german.
Your joy however soon ends when you see movement at the end of the boat. Soon Kai's body appears on the ladder, water dripping from his black hair. Your eyes follow the droplets as they map out the smooth curves and angles of his perfectly chiselled chest and then move lower down to his abdomen. The water making his shorts heavy, sticking low on his hips. You bite your cheek trying to keep your eyes off his hips, you move to look at the way the veins pop on his forearms where he grips the ladder, every muscle bulging as he moves. By the time you realise you are staring and Sasha's been talking, it's too late. You meet Kai's eyes and you feel your breath hitch at the way droplets cling to his lashes.
“I'll be right back, Sash,” you panic, all you know is you need to get away before the tears in your eyes spill. “I'll run and get a hat."
“Okay,” she smiles, “I'll go make sure Jack doesn't get hurt with this wrestling match-on-a-ledge.”
“Okay see you in a few.” You pray she didn't pick up on the way your voice broke at the end of the sentence.
You practically run to your bedroom praying no one will bump into you, see the tears currently adorning your cheeks. You reach the room and fall into the bed gasping for air between sobs. Why does this man have such an impact on you and your feelings. Why couldn't you be like other girls and let yourself enjoy a summer-holiday-no-strings-attached moment like other girls had always done?
You hear the door open and turn around expecting to see Sasha, already trying to come up with an excuse she would believe, but instead you are met by his ocean blue eyes. The eyes that make you feel like every inch of your body is made out of poison, poison that only he can suck out and make you feel okay again.
“Hey I- Are you crying?” He looks at you concerned, shutting the door behind him.
“What do you want?” Your words come out harsher than you intended, but good, he deserves it.
“I wanted to talk!” His defences kick in.
“Talk about what? Or do you mean - quick blowjob?” Your voice is soaked with resentment and anger as you wipe tears from your cheeks.
“What has gotten into you?” he asks, his face contorting with anger or is it disgust? You don't reply, only watch him from where you are sitting in your bed.
“You've barely talked to me today. I almost feel like you are avoiding me.” He says.
“Oh you noticed I'm not in a mood to talk to you?” You know you have no right to be this way but you need to get the hurt out, before it tears you apart. “Thought you were busy with the model girl… the one you must have fucked after I left your bed.”
“Why are you bringing her up? You jealous or something?” He spits in anger. “What do you want from me?”
You don't reply but look away, shame clouds your features, tears threaten to spill again. The clump in your throat hurts against your windpipe.
“At first I wanted you to just fuck me,” you confess still not meeting his eyes, digging your nails into your own shoulders  “but then I got greedy… and wanted you to love me. I wanted to be yours and no one else's.”
Silence falls across the room. You finally meet his eyes, trying to get a read on his emotions.

It's About Time
WC: 3.5k
Summary: Your in love with your best friend, but he's in a dedicated relationship. Trouble ensues after a Chelsea game.
Genre: Fluff, light (if you could even call it that) angst, it's really hust two idiots pinning for each other.
fem reader, implied german reader but you can skip over that, it's like three lines referencing it.
Don't think they're any warnings, but it was horribly proofread so just keep that in mind.
The first time you met his girlfriend you didn't know what to expect.
A part of you wanted her to be the best person possible for Kai. But another part of you, the small part of you that has loved him since you were kids, wanted her to be just even a little bit mean. Because then you could have justifications for your reservations towards their relationship. You wouldn't want to break them up. Even on the off chance she was mean, she made Kai happy. But at least you would have a justification and would feel better about feeling jealous of their new relationship.
But that wasn't the case.
When you met Sloane, she was anything but mean to you. She was the sweetest person and showed a genuine interest in your life, and that's better than any of his previous girls. But now you didn't have a reason to be disappointed about their relationship. How could you when she was everything Kai deserved in someone? She’s a gorgeous business owner who lived an hour or so from their hometown, sweeter than spice, and loved football. And on top of all that, his teammates adore her. When Kai invited Sloane to her first Chelsea game as a WAG, where you also met her for the first time, you could tell the boys loved her from the start. And it wasn't all of them thinking she was gorgeous, though some of those thoughts definitely were present in some of the teammate's heads. But regardless, they thought she was the best and perfect for Kai.
Though after you first met Sloane, Kai of course had to ask for your input. He did that with everything, saying your opinion mattered the most to him. As much as you wanted to be the one in Sloane's position, you couldn't ruin their relationship, so you did the only thing you could do in that situation.
"I adore her, she's so sweet and I think she's perfect for you." You assured him with a smile that didn't quite reach your eyes. But the lighting was dim at Ben's house so you prayed to anyone who was listening that he couldn't see through the facade you put up for him. You did think Sloane was wonderful, that wasn't a lie. You just wished it wasn't the two of them dating, but you'd lost your chance. There was a hint of something in his eyes, probably gratitude for your approval. He gave you a hug and whispered something in your ear, but you couldn't quite catch it over the loud music. You just smiled it off and hoped that was an appropriate enough response, you weren't in the mood to hear whatever he said.
About six months later and their relationship is still going strong. Maybe you haven't moved on from Kai but at the very least you're able to keep your emotions in check.
You’re at another Chelsea game. Only you and Sloane were here on Kai’s side today, which was a little awkward for you. Usually, his sister or mother were here and would act as a sort of buffer for the two of you. Especially since both Kai’s mom and sister have caught on at least a little bit about your slight crush on Kai. Thankfully, neither of them has really called you out on it besides a couple of comments and facial expressions here and there.
But today it was just Sloane and you, and quite frankly, you weren’t sure what to do. Conversations between the two of you weren’t awkward per se, but they didn’t flow as if the both of you have been friends forever.
Before the game starts Sloane suggests that you should get a drink with her. You both make small talk at the bar. You ask her about her business and how it’s going, and she asks you about the latest thing you’ve been designing for adidas. Like you said, she tries to take a genuine interest in your life and that makes it ten times harder to dislike them. It’s impossible. She flips her blonde face away from her head and has a more serious expression on her face.
“So, you and Kai have been friends for a while, right?” The question catches you off guard. What prompted her to ask this? Have you been less stealthy about your crush? Or was she just curious. You had a sneaking suspicion that she wasn’t just asking out of curiosity.
“Yes, we have. We met in primary school; we started becoming friends a couple months after I moved into the neighborhood. And I guess from there we just formed an unbreakable friendship.” You shrug it off, hoping that’s the end of that. You love talking about Kai but you’re afraid this conversation may soon turn into an interrogation.
“Oh okay, that’s cute.” Sloane says off handedly and goes back to sipping her drink. It seems like she’s going to give the conversation a rest when a few minutes later she asks another question. “So, nothing has ever gone on with you and Kai?” You almost spit out your drink. You take a moment to assess her really quickly. Her green eyes are looking everywhere but you. You notice her perfectly manicured nails have almost a death grip on her drink and her hand is shaking ever so slightly.
“Nothing has ever gone on between the two of us, at least not like that. We’ve just been friends our whole lives. No kiss no nothing.” You try to reassure her. She takes a deep breath, and she visibly relaxes.
“Okay,” she says more brightly. She talks to you a little bit more about some problems she’s been facing with her business; but the game is about to start and neither of you want to miss Kai or his teammates’ play so she begins to meander her way to her seat.
“I’ll be there in a moment; I have to take a phone call quickly.” She gives you a thumbs up as you start to walk away.
Truthfully, you didn’t have to call someone. But you just needed one moment to regain yourself before you go out and spend 90+ minutes with Sloane and hope she doesn’t ask you another question about you and Kai. Nothing has ever gone on but the reminder stings sometimes. Especially with all the times you were close.
Last season at some event at one of his teammates' houses, you were both a little tipsier than you should’ve been. But it didn't matter at the time, you were both drunk off of happiness that Chelsea had won again, and Kai had scored a goal. You spent the entire night dancing and you two eventually went over to his house and spent the rest of the evening together. Before the two of you fell asleep you were watching a show in his bedroom with you snuggled up to his side and his arm draped over your shoulder. You felt so safe and protected and loved that in that moment, you swore you were going to pour all your feelings to him. He looked down at you and gave the softest of smiles and you were going to say something.
Of course the moment had to be interrupted by a phone call from someone. And that was the end of that. You couldn’t find the courage to do it when he got back so you pretended like you were asleep and left promptly the next morning.
When you had finally composed yourself you returned to your seat next to Sloane and spent the next 90 minutes cheering for your boys in blue.
The game told the same story as most of the other games this season. A scoreless tie for Chelsea as they continue to fall down the table. Despite it not being the result they wanted, the boys still wanted to go meet up at Ben’s place and hang out for a little bit. You and Sloane get a text from Kai in groupchat with the three of you inviting you to Ben’s place after.
Kai: I might be a bit if you two want to drive over, I’ll meet you there
Sloane: Sounds good!
“I can drive you over if you’d like. I know you drove over with Kai.” Sloane’s face lights up.
“Of course, thank you so much. I adore Kai but he’s going to be in a bad mood, and I’d rather not wait what could be an eternity for him.” You smile at her, and you lead her over to her car.
Ben’s girlfriend opens the door for the both of you.
“The boys should be here within the hour, make yourself at home, there are some drinks outside.” Laila offers it to you and Sloane. You grab some soda from outside and curl up on the couch scrolling through TikTok, waiting for everyone.
By the end of the hour the Chelsea boys start to show up. Kai of course goes over to Sloane and says something in her ear before he makes his way over to you.
“Not the greatest day at Stamford, was it?” He tries and jokes with you. You turn around and wrap him up in a big hug.
“Hey, you played amazing today, I’m sorry the score didn’t turn out the way you wanted it to.” You pull away from him, but he keeps an arm around your shoulder as boys start to talk about random things. It’s oddly intimate considering you’re not his girlfriend and he hasn’t let you leave his side yet. As Kai continues talking to Christian you see Sloane out of the corner of your eye, and you realize this isn’t fair to her.
“Excuse me, , I’ll be right back.” You get up rather abruptly and all but sprint past Sloane. She looks at you with something sad in her eyes.
You walk into one of Ben’s sitting rooms and shortly after someone joins you.
“Oh, hi Christian,” you say surprised. He takes a seat next to you. “Is there anything you need?”
“When are you and Kai going to sort out your problems?” You almost choke on your drink.
“I- what?”
“You heard me; you guys are perfect for each other and yet you always dance around each other,” he stated as you glare at him.
“I’m sorry, but where have you been? If he liked me so much, then why is he dating Sloane?”
“Because he thinks he doesn’t have a chance with you.” Your jaw tightens a little. This conversation is beyond stupid, and you do not want to deal with it. You go to get up, but he grabs your arm to prevent you from moving.
“Well, I certainly don’t have one now because he’s in a relationship and no matter how much I love him I will not get in the middle of it. He is happy with her, and I won’t do anything to damage that.” Christian’s eyes widen at your declaration, and you realize what you said.
“I um- well,” you stammer incoherent nonsense.
“You guys deserve the world and I'm just so tired of you guys dancing around each other.”
“But he’s dating Sloane- “you start to argue.
“That relationship can’t last. And between you and me, I know Mason is trying to show that Kai isn’t being fair to Sloane,” he tries to reason with you as you slump back down on the couch. “Just promise me, you’ll shoot your shot when the time comes.”
“Fine, but if something bad happens I’m blaming it all on you,” you stated to him, and he just shakes his head at you.
“You can do that little German, but I can say with almost a 100% certainty that if they break up and you say something to him, the both of you will be so happy.”
He gets up to leave you alone for a bit.
“Oh and little German? You would make a great WAG. But to be fair, you’re practically one already.” He sees your ears go bright pink at the statement and how your eyes shoot down to the ground to avoid his eye contact. He quietly laughs as he closes the door to leave you be.
******
As the party comes to an end after a couple hours, Kai realizes he hasn’t seen you around since you went to one of the side rooms with Christian on your tail.
“Ready Sloane?” Kai extends his hand to help Sloane up from the couch so they can get over to his place. He leads her to his car and the ride home is tense and someone could cut a knife through the tension.
 “Sloane?”
“Just drive.” She responds curtly and goes back to staring out the window. After a few minutes she puts in her airpods to signal she doesn’t want to talk to him right now. As he pulls up to his driveway she rushes out of the car and punches the code into his garage. He takes a big sigh before getting out of the car, knowing what is probably to come for him.
He walks into his house and sees Sloane pacing around the couches in their living room.
“Sloane, love, sit down for me, will you?” She just glares at him before she takes a deep breath.
“No and you know why? Because ever since we started dating you were attached to her hip, and I tried telling myself that it was just my imagination. And for a while I was able to believe that. But every once in a while something would happen between the two of you that would make me think otherwise.”
“Nothing has ever gone on between the two of us,” he tries to protest but the look she sends his way silences him.
“You don’t love me, and that’s okay. Maybe it took me a while to accept that but now I can because I just want you happy, and if that’s with her that’s okay.”
“Sloane, I love you,” he pleaded.
“No, you don’t, you love her, but you don’t think you can have her, so you settled for me.” She snaps at him, not wanting to be hurt anymore. “It’s time you move on from me to her. And it’s time for me to move on from you. We don’t make sense together; we never did, and it took me too long to figure that out. But it’s not fair for any of us involved to continue with this relationship.” She starts to walk out the door and drops the keys to his and her house on the kitchen counter.
“Despite the not so wonderful ending I am glad I met you.”
“I’m sorry it had to end this way,” he admits dejectedly. “I never meant for it to happen like this.” She turns to face him in the entrance.
“I am too, but at least we didn’t drag it out any more than it needed to be.” She opens the door and takes a few steps outside towards her car. “Oh, and Kai? Please talk to her, you two deserve your happy ending.” She walks into her car and drives off.
Kai stands there defeated but knows what he needs to do next
****
It’s late. Almost midnight. And you can’t even begin to fathom who just pulled up into your driveway. Lucky for whoever, most nights you can’t fall asleep until close to 2. A benefit of being a night owl. While walking over you take a peek out your window.
“Is that Kai’s car?” You murmur to yourself while you walk to the door that someone just knocked on.
You hope it’s one of your friends and nothing’s wrong, not really feeling having to run an errand so late at night.
You open the door and sure enough, it is Kai at the front. Eyes cast downward, as if ashamed he’s here so late.
“Kai, to what do I owe the pleasure. Come in, I was just moving stuff around in the kitchen.” He shakes his head at you slightly.
“Leave it to you to remodel in the middle of the night.”
You wink at him playfully. “It’s the late-night tendencies.” He takes a seat on your couch and you finally take a good look at him and see something is wrong. His eyes look bloodshot, as if he’s been crying for the last hour. His right pinky is twitching back and forth, something he only does when nervous. A habit that he mostly grew out of, but clearly not enough if he’s doing it in your presence.
“Kai, what’s the matter?” He looks up at you as you slowly sit next to him. He buries his head in your shoulder, and you raise a hand to it and scratch his hair lightly. He sits there and you let him decide if he wants to talk, not wanting to pry.
“Sloane and I broke up.” He tells you after a couple minutes sitting in silence.
“Oh Kai.” He cuddles deeper into your embrace as you wrap your other hand around your shoulders. You coax him into lying down on the couch on top of you. It’s like the days when you were teens and would watch movies late on the weekends when you couldn’t sleep. He would tease you about being restless but cuddling with him would always make you fall asleep quickly.
You move your nails up and down his back to help him relax. “Do you want to talk about it?” You ask after a couple minutes.
“In a moment,” he mumbles into your shoulder. “Just wan’ to relax for a moment.” His accent is getting heavier, you notice. You continue to move your hand around his back in a soothing way for a while longer before he finally speaks up.
“We broke up because I wasn’t faithful.” You lightly gasp.
“You never touched anyone though,” you try to protest but he just shakes his head.
“Not like that. My heart wasn’t in it, and she realized it.”
He stays like that for a while longer, you look over to the clock and see it’s almost His breathing hasn’t changed so you know he hasn;t fallen asleep yet. With your heart in your throat, you ask the one question you’ve been dying to ask.
“Why wasn’t your heart in it Kai?”
“Schatz-” he starts to protest before you cut him off.
“Kai, love, why wasn’t your heart in it?”
He looks into your eyes before he takes a deep breath.
"Because I love you,” he admits quietly before his head falls down into your shoulder in embarrassment. “Don’t make me say it again,” he begs softly, softly, and you feel a tear run down your shoulder blade.
“That’s a shame, because I quite like how those words sound coming off your lips. Especially when they’re directed at me.” You say quietly and his eyes shoot up.
“You mean,” he trails off slightly.
“Yes Kai, I love you too.” His strong arms wrap around you.
“Say that again, exactly like that. Like you mean it.”
“I love you, Kai. I don’t think you understand how long I've been wanting to admit that for.”
“Not as long as me.” He presses a soft kiss to your forehead. “I’ve been waiting since we were ten.” You look at him in disbelief and his gaze locks with yours. He gives a sheepish smile.
“So, you’ve been hopelessly in love with me since forever and didn’t act upon it until tonight?” You ask incredulously.
“Thought I never had a chance with you,” he admits with a shrug. “And Sloane said that I should stop dancing around you and find my happy ending.”
“I am sorry you two broke up,” you tell him with a hint of shame. “I never wanted to get in between the two of you.”
“I am too, but it was for the best. And don’t worry about it, it wasn't your fault. It’s my fault for entertaining something that could never truly be.” He moves his head under yours and wraps his arms together around your frame, like he was a kid reaching for his teddy bear in the middle of the night.
“Kai, I love you, but we can't stay like this the entire night.” He pushes you back down as you try to squirm out of his grip.
“Five more minutes Schatz, let me enjoy this.” You shake your head but give in.
“Fine, five more minutes then we’re moving to my bedroom. We have a lot more to talk about in the morning.”
“This is it right? We’re together?” He stares into your eyes, involuntarily giving you the puppy dog eyes. He leans into your touch when you stroke his hair with your hand.
“Yes, don’t worry, you’re it for me and I have no intentions of letting you go.” He lets out a shuddering breath at your confession. He leans in for a kiss on the lips. It’s tentative and sweet and slow.
 “I love you Schatz.”
“I love you too.” There’s a lot to discuss tomorrow. More reassurances to give on both of your parts. But for now, you can lay peacefully in each other's arms, without any worries.

It's fame she's after - Julian Brandt ft. Kai Havertz
Tumblr media
Pairing: Julian Brandt x female reader, (platonic) Kai Havertz x female reader
Warnings: Kai doesn't like reader (it'll turn out right though), rude comments, Julian gives a bit of an ultimatum, a bit of hurt, a bit of angst and a bit of fluff, Sophia is in here as well, badly translated German
Word count: 1681
Note: As always, English is not my first language. This one has been on my mind for a while. I thought it was a good idea and it turned out better than I thought. There is more interaction between the female reader and Kai, but she's in a relationship with Julian. Please do not publish and/or copy my work, reblogging is totally fine!
There are many things she loves about being Julian Brandts girlfriend. He’s thoughtful, kind, shows her he loves her multiple times a day and of course he’s incredibly handsome. She loves tracing the tattoos on his arm, adores spending time with his family and pulling pranks with his brothers. His friends love having her around and her friends love meeting up with Julian. But there is one friend of Jule’s that she doesn’t see eye to eye with at all. And unfortunately that happens to be Kai Havertz.
She met Kai for the first time during the World Cup. She and Julian hadn’t been dating long and because Kai lives in England, it was harder for him to meet up with them to meet her. She met Sophia in the stands and they hit it off immediately. She met Kai after the first match, the one they lost against Japan. Julian walked up to her first and she immediately wrapped her arms around his shoulders. He hadn’t played but was still quite upset. Kai had come up behind Jule and he passed them to get to Sophia. He had given her a look she didn’t appreciate a lot, but she brushed it off as him being upset with the game.
But when Jule introduced her, Kai barely even acknowledged her. He gave her one look and then went back to talking to other people. She had looked to Julian, who was just as surprised as she was. Julian went to talk to Kai about it whilst she went to stand with Sophia who didn’t understand her boyfriend’s behaviour either. It didn’t get much better after that. Anytime they were in the same room, she tried to talk to Kai. To get to know him or to see if there was anything she could do to get him to like her. She mostly did it for Julian, she hated the way he looked so defeated when she and Kai ended up in another argument. It just seems that Kai didn’t see the look on his best friend’s face or he didn’t care enough.
She doesn’t like Kai much, she thinks he is arrogant and egotistical for the way he is acting and that seeing them not getting along, is hurting Julian more than he wants to admit. She would honestly do anything for Julian and to see his best friend not even acknowledging the fact that this is hurting Julian, pisses her off. But when Jule tells her Kai is coming over that weekend, she holds back a groan. She makes the promise to herself that she’ll try one more time to get Kai to like her and then she’ll give up. She goes as far as to ask Sophia what Kai’s favourite meal is and which recipe Sophia uses to make it for him.
So when Kai and Sophia arrive, she’s working away in the kitchen. She goes to greet them, giving Sophia a hug and as she moves to Kai all he does is hold out his hand, not even looking at her. She shakes it softly, before moving back to the kitchen. Sophia follows her to help out, but she just makes Sophia sit down with a glass of wine and they talk. She asks Sophia if there is anything she did to make Kai not like her (like she does every time), but even Sophia doesn’t know what’s bothering Kai about her so much. She decides to give up on asking and finishes the food. They set the table and Sophia calls in the boys. Kai is the first one downstairs.
“Wow, this looks great Soof. How did you make it so fast?” “I didn’t Kai. I gave her the recipe a few days ago, she made it.” “Yeah right.”
Kai gives her a glance before sitting down. Julian walks in a little later and presses a kiss to his girlfriend's cheek. “Thank you for making dinner, liebe.”
When everyone sits down, they all plate some food before eating. What no one is expecting is for Kai to spit his food back onto his plate. “Well it’s clear you didn’t make it Soof. It doesn’t taste good at all.”
That was the last drop. She can’t help the little sob that leaves her lips before she quickly stands up and practically runs up the stairs. She runs all the way to the bathroom before locking herself in. She doesn’t hear the argument that’s going on downstairs over her own sobs.
“Was stimmt nicht mit dir?! Why would you say that? It tastes good. Why can’t you just accept her as my girlfriend? She’s tried everything to get you to like her and you just ignore her the whole time. Ich liebe sie so sehr. Why can’t you see that?!” Julian goes after her as Kai looks down.
Whilst Julian runs up the stairs, Kai turns to Sophia, only to find her looking at him in utter disappointment. “Was?” “She is doing everything to get you to like her. Why are you being like this? This isn’t you.”
“I just don’t want her to hurt Julian. She is clearly after his money. Why else would she choose to go public with him during the World Cup. If it’s not money, it’s fame she’s after.” Sophia heaves a big sigh.
“How do you have such a big board in front of your face? She didn’t want them to go public at the World Cup. Julian wanted to introduce her to you, but there wasn’t another time other than the world cup. Can’t you see the way they look at each other?! Bist du so blind?”
Sophia went to get another glass of wine as Kai thought over her words. He never thought of it that way. He always assumed she was the one that wanted to go public at the World Cup. He didn’t think she came with Julian just to meet him. He has to make this right. He moves to the stairs and he can hear Julian knocking on a door. He hears as Julian tries to get his girlfriend to open the door for him. He hears the sobs and the strangled ‘no’s’ that come from the other side of the door. When Julian spots Kai he gives an irritated sigh.
“Was machst du hier? Haven’t you done enough?”
“I have to make it right, Jule. Let me try, please?” It was more of a rhetorical question than an actual one, but Julian agrees with a little hesitance. Julian moves to get past Kai, but stops when he’s next to him. “If you screw this up even more, you better stay in London. I really love her Kai. Stop hurting the girl I love or our friendship is over.”
Kai gulps, but nods his head at Julian. Julian walks down the stairs whilst shaking his head. Once Julian is downstairs Kai turns to the door. He heaves a sigh and knocks on the bathroom door.
“Geh weg, Julian."
“I’m not Julian.”
He hears as she gasps a little when she hears his voice. He hears the door click and he opens it slowly. He sees her sitting against the bathtub, eyes red and tears streaming down her face. He moves to sit across from her. She doesn’t look at him as he sits, she rubs the sleeves of her shirt along her cheeks. He analyzes the way she’s sitting, but doesn’t make a move to say anything yet. Then he sees her fiddle with a J necklace. If she’s wearing that, there is no way she’s with him for fame or money.
“Es tut mir leid.” She looks up when he apologizes. “I thought you were in it for fame or money. I thought I was looking out for my best friend. I thought you were just gonna hurt him and I was wrong. I see now that you really love him. I’m sorry for all the times I hurt you by brushing you off. And the dinner you made is actually amazing, probably even better than Soofs. But please don’t tell her I said that.” They both laugh. “Friends?”
She looks at the hand he’s offering. “I forgive you, so yes. Friends.” He stands up and helps her off the floor as well. He opens his arms, giving her the option for a hug if she wants to. She smiles and hugs him. “I wouldn’t have let Julian end your friendship Kai. You two are platonic soulmates, I’d never want to be the cause of Bravertz breaking up.” That makes both of them laugh. He gives her another hug. They joke together as they walk downstairs, finally able to find the things they have in common. They see Julian on the couch with his head in his hands, with Sophia rubbing his back, when they finally notice the footsteps on the stairs and the laughter.
Julian looks up surprised as he sees them laughing together. He gets up as they walk into the living room. She sees the nervous look on his face and immediately moves to wrap her arms around his waist. His arms go around her shoulders and he looks up at Kai, who gives him a smile and a nod. Julian tightens his arms around her, pressing a few kisses to the top of her head. When she pulls away, she presses a kiss to Julian’s lips.
“Let me reheat the food and we can all eat.” “I’ll help.”
Julian’s and Sophia’s eyes almost pop out when Kai offers his help. As they move to the kitchen with the food, Julian and Sophia look at each other bewildered. How did their dynamic change that fast? Not that they’re complaining. It’s just a bit odd. It’s safe to say the rest of the evening went great. And after that night as well. They went on couple dates and Julian finally got to be more affectionate with his girlfriend without Kai acting all disgusted and glaring daggers. And her friendship with Kai? It only blossomed.
Liebe: love Was stimmt nicht mit dir?: What is wrong with you? Ich liebe sie so sehr: I love her so much Was?: What? Bist du so blind?: Are you that blind? Was machst du hier?: What are you doing here? Geh weg: Go away Es tut mir leid: I am sorry
