This afternoon was wonderful meeting after listening to a fantastic talk on comfort, and how Jehovah and his son comfort us now in difficult times that we are living in. - But the watchtower that we study today was amazing. This magazine, produced by the witnesses clearly state that victims in abusive relationships SHOULD STAY IN THE MARRIAGE AND SEE IT OUT CAUSE MAYBE YOUR SPOUSE WILL TURN TO GOD AND BECOME PEACEFUL. They even interview a couple that "used" to be abusive and toxic and the woman says that her husband almost killed her and threatened to do the same to their son! But she stayed married to him and after *finding the truth* the husband has changed and now they have a happy marriage.

Thuisonderwijs: Hoe maak ik er het beste van?

Veel leerlingen krijgen nu les in een ander soort ‘klaslokaal’ — hun huis. Als dat ook voor jou geldt, hoe kun je er dan het beste van maken? Hier zijn een paar tips. 

Maak een planning. Probeer je aan een schema te houden, net als op school. Plan vaste tijden in voor schoolwerk, klusjes in huis en andere belangrijke dingen. Als het nodig is, kun je je schema aanpassen.

Bijbels principe: ‘Laat alles (...) ordelijk verlopen’ (1 Korinthiërs 14:40, voetnoot).

‘Deel je dag in alsof je op school bent. Bepaal op welke tijdstippen je dingen af wilt hebben.’ — Katie.

Om over na te denken: Waarom is het goed om je schema op papier te zetten en het ergens op te hangen waar je het makkelijk kunt zien?

Ontwikkel zelfdiscipline. Bij het volwassen worden hoort dat je leert om dingen aan te pakken, ook als je er geen zin in hebt. Stel dingen niet uit!

Bijbels principe: ‘Wees ijverig’ (Romeinen 12:11).

‘De grootste uitdaging is zelfdiscipline. Je kunt makkelijk smoesjes verzinnen en zeggen: ik doe m’n schoolwerk later wel. Maar dat komt er dan niet van en uiteindelijk ga je achterlopen.’ — Alexandra.

Om over na te denken: Als je je schoolwerk elke dag op dezelfde plek en tijd doet, hoe helpt dat je dan om zelfdiscipline te ontwikkelen?

Kies een goede studeerplek. Zorg dat je alles bij de hand hebt wat je nodig hebt. Je studeerplek moet comfortabel zijn, maar ook weer niet te comfortabel. Je zit er om te werken, niet om te relaxen! Als er geen ruimte is voor een vaste studeerplek, mag je overdag misschien de keuken of een slaapkamer als studeerplek gebruiken.

Bijbels principe: ‘De plannen van wie ijverig is leiden zeker tot succes’ (Spreuken 21:5).

‘Leg je basketbal, je games en je gitaar weg en zet je telefoon op stil. Het is belangrijk dat je geen afleidingen om je heen hebt.’ — Elizabeth.

Om over na te denken: Wat zou je aan je studeerplek kunnen veranderen zodat je je beter kunt concentreren?

Leer je te concentreren. Focus je op één ding tegelijk en probeer niet te multitasken. Als je meerdere dingen tegelijk probeert te doen, is de kans groter dat je er langer over doet en fouten maakt.

Bijbels principe: ‘Gebruik je tijd zo goed mogelijk’ (Efeziërs 5:16).

‘Ik kon me totaal niet concentreren als ik m’n telefoon bij de hand had. Ik verspilde veel tijd aan onbelangrijke dingen.’ — Olivia.

Om over na te denken: Zou je kunnen proberen om je steeds wat langer op één taak te concentreren?

Neem af en toe een pauze. Ga even wandelen, fietsen of sporten. Ook een hobby kan je weer energie geven. ‘Maar zorg dat je eerst je werk af hebt. Vrije tijd voelt vrijer als je alles af hebt’, zegt het boek School Power.

Bijbels principe: ‘Beter is een hand vol rust dan twee handen vol hard werk en het najagen van wind’ (Prediker 4:6).

‘Op de meeste scholen krijg je muziekles of tekenles. Toen dat wegviel, besefte ik pas hoe erg ik het miste. Het is goed om naast je schoolwerk ook iets creatiefs te doen.’ — Taylor.
