Mon avis :

C’est bien comme intrigue. Idéalement ces romans devraient se lire à la suite, car il y a des personnages récurrents qui donne du fil à retorde à Olav, le personnage principal. Ce sont deux nouvelles, donc quand on les lit un après l’autre, cela donne un bon roman. On ressent les difficultés que Olav a dû surmonter, comme une enfance difficile, pour faire des choix qu’il a fait. Cependant, quand il décide d’avoir une vie plus rangée et calme, son passé va lui rappeler d’où il vient.

Πολλοί είδαν στις γραμμές του ίχνη του Λάφκραφτ, ενώ άλλοι θεωρούν ότι το Νυχτόσπιτο σημαίνει αλλαγή στη γραμμή πλεύσης για έναν συγγραφέα που έχει αποδείξει ότι ξέρει όχι μόνο να γράφει συναρπαστικές ιστορίες αλλά και να μελετά τα ανθρώπινα σκοτάδια. Άτυπος πρωταγωνιστής του μυθιστορήματος, ένας πιτσιρικάς, ο Ρίτσαρντ Ελόβντ, ο οποίος, μετά τον θάνατο των γονιών του σε πυρκαγιά, αναγκάζεται να μετακομίσει.

Man, Jo Nesbo's fatphobia is pungent. I decided to try out the Harry Hole series because I love mysteries, but he just cannot resist taking jabs at fat people, especially fat women, who apparently embarrass themselves by daring to exist.

What a shame. I had high hopes.

Released in hardback on 28th September 2023 in the United Kingdom this is a slight departure for the author best known for his crime thrillers and especially the Harry Hole detective series.

This is a horror story - told in three parts which kicks off with 14 year old Richard , a bit of an outcast in a rural backwater playing with his friend Tom . After trying to float a Luke Skywalker figure they decide to do a phone prank - only problem being that the phone swallows Tom and Richard is in the frame for his disappearance !

it's been a hot minute since i last posted on this blog, but i have some ARCs that i'm really excited to talk about.

i just finished the night house by jo nesbo earlier today. it had a really strong start; chapter one literally has a kid getting sucked into a phone. the first part definitely appealed to my weird lil heart. part two and three were all downhill tho. didn't like where the book went + the ending involved one of my least favorite author cop-outs in the world. wouldn't give it more than a 3/5 ☆, which is being generous because i liked the first two-thirds of the book so much.

my next read (starting tonight) is mister magic by kiersten white. i'm insanely excited about this one because the summary sounds amazing. here's a snippet from goodreads.
