Don’t think I don’t notice how many people that follow me engage with my reblogs about pop culture/Judaism in general but refuse to engage with my reblogs about the massive rise in antisemitism that Jews are facing worldwide, even though those posts frequently occur back to back so you all are definitely seeing them.

Fucking support us. Jew Hatred should be something you have a problem with irrespective of your feelings towards Israel.

Because I'm only seeing other Jews posting about this, non-Jews I need you to be aware that for the past month or two there has been a wave of bomb threats and swattings at synagogues all across the US. They usually do it when services are being livestreamed. I haven't seen a single non-Jew talking about this. High holidays are coming up in a few weeks, which is when most attacks happen against our communities. We're worried, and we need people to know what's happening to us.

Bcs u should support Jews and Romani people and BIPOC more than u hate nazis and some of u it is very clear that u couldn't give a shite about Jews and romani or BIPOC. You hate nazis but you've forgotten nazis aren't just generalised bigots or bad people and they have an ideology which targets "undesirables" and people who ate racially seen as inferior or less than. Only part of combating white supremacy and fascism is hating nazis and a lot of it is helping communities effected by white supremacy and fascism and listening to and understanding us.

Some people out there acting as if white supremacy is the only form of antisemitism. For instance, Christian antisemitism is far older than white supremacy and while they are entwined it is possible to perpetuate Christian antisemitism without being a white supremacist or even white. Antisemitism even predates Christianity and there are forms of antisemitism that are not connected to Christianity at all. It goes to show that antisemitism is complex and multifaceted. It can show up in many forms and it’s important to learn about the different ways it can show up. Anyone can be antisemitic and attributing antisemitism only to white supremacy is harmful and only tackles one part of the issue.

There is a classic question: What time is Shabbat when you are in space? The standard answer is that one should observe the zmanim of the point they took off from.

This raises an obvious question. Say one Jew took off from Baikonur in Russia and one Jew from Cape Canaveral in America. Together they meet and prepare for Shabbat on the space station.

But wait! The Russian has forgotten to turn on the water urn, and Shabbat has just begun in Russia! Can they ask the American, who's Shabbat will not start for hours to turn it on?

Seen a couple people not knowing this so as a Jew I thought I’d clarify:

While it is also the name of the country, Israel is a word used to describe the Jewish people. It was Jacob’s name and the Jews are known as the people of Israel. The country didn’t exist before 1948 and any mention of Israel in the Torah or in prayers is not about it.

Am Yisrael Chai especially doesn’t mean the country it means the people of Israel live, meaning the Jewish People will survive its not in support of genocide and if it’s being used as such it’s a misunderstanding of the phrase.

On top of this before it was on the flag, the Star of David has always been a Jewish symbol. Before it was a national language, Hebrew was the language of the Torah. Please don’t confuse Jewish symbols with symbols of the nation of Israel.

Don't let threats against synagogues scare you out of going. The people making these threats want you to be scared. They want you to be so scared that you don't feel safe living your life as a proud and visible Jew, so scared that you take your menorah out of your window and remove your mezuzah from your doorpost. The more you concede, the more they feel like they're winning and the more emboldened they get.

Now, more than ever, we need Jews to be loud, proud and unapologetic. You should not be afraid to exist as a Jew. Wear your star of David. Wear your kippah. And take pride in who you are and where you come from.

Funny how in Europe Jews weren’t recognized as European and always told to go back to where we came from yet when we do that’s suddenly when we are “accepted” as European. Funny huh. Seems like there might be something deeper at work here. What could it possibly be? Oh I don’t know maybe antisemitism?!?? To antisemites we will always be the face of what they think is evil and now that has taken the form of white European settler colonialism so that is what they paint us as. We’ve been crying out about this form of antisemitism on the left for years and now see where it’s taken us. There is an utter disregard for Jewish lives.
